Home, sweet home, or at least it better be. After starting the season with three straight wins, the Eagles have lost four the last five. Today they meet the six and three Atlanta Falcons, with the highest scoring offense in the NFL. Clinton gives it the Ryan Mathews, he's head for the cupsiwns Coco's other hills. Ryan called for the football. He's back, he is heck and they stuck the bracket to twenty five. Cowder Portman has his round flints d they shot gun. He slips it off to Ryan Matthews.

He's head. Heagles take lead. They re tack to the lead, going Futhews a separate coast gun of the game out of the hold of Tony Jones. Upon a spotted the kickers. A Lance got the distance. It's gone, He's gone. Caleb Stargus give the Eagles a wine away run. This time the Fires fin yotis the Kelvin. It's a round Donald John. Yeah, there were a lot of people very happy on Sunday and Lincoln Financial Fielder's Eagles went to four and oh at the link in this twenty sixteen regular season. We're

here to talk about it. In the day after Welcome to Eagles three sixty Dave Spidero with the Hall of Famer Brian Westbrook And what a day. What What is that this Eagles team at home is not like the Eagles team that goes on the road. What gives you know what? We have the best fans in the business. We always talk about it. We always say that you love your fans and they are the best. But it's actually seeing it on the field as a proof in

the pudding. This team plays much better, especially defensively, when they have the crowd on their side, when they go out there and they're able to get off the ball on the snap count with the offense struggling to hear just a bit because of the crowd. It's a much better team at home because of best fans in the NFL. And on this Sunday, Brian, the Eagles played some smash

mouth football on both sides of the later scrimmage. We will talk about it as we go through that very encouraging win to start the second half of this regular season. On Monday, of course, Doug Peterson meets the media. He did so today, So let's get your cartap with everything going on today at an Overcare Complex. Our Eagles three sixty update with Alex Smith. Hi everyone, I'm Alex Smith

here with your three sixty update. The Eagles are coming off of a twenty four to fifteen victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon in front of a raucous Lincoln Financial Field crowd. Today we heard from Eagles head coach Doug Peterson and one of the first things that he spoke about was the Eagles injury situation. And the Eagles came out Sunday's game relatively healthy, and they're also going to get an added boost on the offensive line as it looks like Alan Barber could be on track

to play this week. Um, Nolan Carroll is in the concussion protocol and then the ones that are are okay, and we'll actually practice this week. Alan Barbery, he'll he'll practice this week. Brent Sellik with his with his rib, He'll he'll be okay to practice. Camu, We'll be out there. He's been one that's been injury here the last couple of weeks. Jason Kelsey has a quad contusion from the game. But we'll be able to practice. He'll be fine. Benny Logan, m a little bit sore, but he's gonna be fine.

Came through the game game okay, Leo with his hamstring, got through it fine. And obviously you made a huge play at the end of the game and then Destiny left calf contusion was kicked. He'll be He'll be okay to practice. Speaking of the offensive line, the Eagles have had to mix and match some different players due to different situations along that front, but one spot that has been stable has been left tackle, where Jason Peters is

having another typical Jason Peters year. Today, coach Peterson praised the work that Peters has been doing a left tackle all season long. I'll tell you what he's playing. He's

he's playing extremely well. And you know, the for me as a coach and and just knowing him as long as I have, I mean, the proud thing for me is is where he is physically healthy, you know, and he's he's in a great position right now, and you know, we're managing managing him during the week to get him just enough reps during practice to get him to game day.

And he feels he feels great. He's getting plenty of rest earlier in the week that helps him and and you know, I'd love to see him play, you know, as long as he can, you know. And uh, but yeah, he's playing. He's playing extremely well right now. The offensive li I not only helped protect Carson Wentz on Sunday, but it also paved the way for the Eagles to rush for over two hundred yards as a team. And today Coach Peterson talked about getting back to that smash

mouth running style against the Atlanta Falcons. You know, the one thing that I thought Stout coach Stalin did a great job with designing was was same side runs mixed in with some some some backdoor runs and taking advantage of some linebackers, some fast flow linebackers that we talked about during the week that very aggressive to the to the ball and and as long as you can stop the penetrators up front and get yourself up to the

second level defenders, you got you got a chance. And we did a great job in that yesterday and managing that that a man front. All right. Well, that will wrap things up here from the Novacare Complex. But it is a very busy week for the Eagles as they get set to go on the road to play the Seattle Seahawks who are coming off of a Sunday night victory. So be sure to stay tuned a Philadelphia Eagles dot Com all week long. Everything you need to know heading

into Sunday's game. Brian, let's talk Doug Peterson here. He is a very optimistic guy, a very upbeat guy. Your thoughts on how he's handled this whole season nine games in. Well, I think part of the process of being a head coaches you learn from your mistakes and you improved every single week. You want their improvement from the players, and I think you have to expect that type of improvement from yourself as a head coach. And what I saw

yesterday was improvement from a head coach. He said, listen, we're gonna run the football. We're gonna dominate the time of possession to keep the ball out of Atlanta's hands. And so he was committed to the run. He used small was he used Ryan Matthews, who's really been in the doghouse the last couple of weeks. And the one thing, the one change that I saw that I loved. He was able to use Darren Sprows on third down, not as a running back but more of a slot type

of receiver and that was very effective as well. They Doug helped win that football game yesterday starts up top and we'll talk about that offensive approach in a bit. But when we returned to Eagles three sixty, we're gonna talk about Jim Schwartz and a defense had the task against the number one scoring offense in the National Football League. What the Eagles do? They dominated? We'll talk about it

when we return. Their legend is legendary. They've seen the end zone more often than any other duo in history. They are professional football player watchers. It's Eagles three sixty Dave Spandaro, Brian Westbrook. We're talking about the Eagles twenty four to fifteen win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Eagles now five and four. Of course with Seattle. We'll talk about that on Sunday. That should

be a great game, Brian. On Sunday, the Eagles defense did what they really wanted to do. They made the Atlanta Falcons one dimensional. They shut down a really good run team. Now, explain to me and everybody who's watching here. When you can't run, why does that impact the past so much? That play action game just doesn't work. Yeah, the play action game doesn't work at all. It also allows your defensive lineman to pin their earback and not worried about the run game at all, they're just going

strictly to get out of the quarterback. And when you have a front flour like we have with the addition of bringing back Benny Logan, which absolutely helps, now these guys can say, you know, we can get pressure on our quarterback without blitzing anyone else. We could get pressure without having to bring a cornerback or a linebacker every single play. And now that drops seven guys into coverage. Now, Julio Jones had some you know, he had ten cats.

He had a pretty good game. But it long as no one else kind of got off and had a good game, this defense was in control. You win in the trenches, which we did yesterday, it makes everything much easier for your defense as a whole. Couple players are like to highlight you talk about Julio Jones, and Eagles used rookie Jalen Mills on Jones for the entire second half. And while Jones got his ten catches one hundred and

thirty yards, he also had two drops late. He was targeted sixteen times, and I really liked the way Jalen Mills competed. Compete, that's all you want you want from a young guy to go out there. You know you're playing one of the best wide receivers in the game and Julio Jones, but you want this young guy to go out there and compete every single play, even if they catch a ball on you. You want a guy

to come back and compete again. If the penalty is calling on you, come back and compete the next play. You saw that time after time this week from Jalen Mills. I think that type of effort is contagious, and it stands to Malcolm Jenks, Roddie McCloud, everyone else on that defense. Leodis McKelvin came back playing hurt. That helps your defense.

All those guys played a pretty good game. Brian also another player earlier this season, Michael Kendrick's taking a lot of criticism now his role has changed, but I saw him around the football a lot yesterday. He was I mean, when this defense is good, they have somebody that's making the tackle, then they have three or four other guys right at that point that could have made the tackle. Michael Kendricks is one of those guys that it was

all around the ball yesterday. He's athletic, he's fast, he can make those types of plays and he did that yesterday. That helps your front four, That helps your defense. They need more of that from Michael Kendricks. Two sacks, six tackles for lost, six quarterbacks, quarterback hurries, one interception, and five passes defense for the Eagles defense. Great job check this out day. That's in twenty two minutes of play. I mean, that's an awful lot of playmaking ability in

a small amount of time. Your offense helped you out by being on the field for thirty eight minutes, but your defense did a great job of limiting Atlanta. They were eighteen percent on third down. You're talking about trying to keep a high powered, potent offense off the field. You you limit them on third down. Eighteen percent on

third down for the Atlanta Falcons. That helped your offense, but also if it provided some things and helped your defensive coordinator Jim Sports as well, and also helping the special teams with some kickoff each turns Kenyon Barner a fifty two yard or change field position. They did a great job in coverage. Caleb Sturgis nails the forty eight yard field goal to make it a nine point game, and the hidden yardage there certainly in the favor against

a good Atlanta special teams unity. It goes in the favor of Dave Fipp and his crew. Anytime that you can change field position, you make it easier on your offense. When you have a young, young rookie quarterback, you have a rookie head coach, you want to make things a lot easier. Getting that hidden yards with Donnie Jones punning the ball so well, getting the hidden yard with king Yon Barner returning the football. There's not a lot of teams that can have the ability that go eighty yards

every single possession. When you have a shorter field, it helps your offense out inevitably, it helps your football team. Speaking of the offense, we'll talk about it in depth when we return to Eagles three sixty. A new approach for the Eagles. They lined up and punched the Falcons in the mouth and it worked. Dave Spinaro, Brian Westbrook back with you with Eagles three sixty talking now about an Eagles offense that said, we are going to run the football, stop us if you can, and the Atlanta Falcons could not stop the Eagles on Sunday, Eagles rushing from for two hundred and eight yards and using Isaac Syamalo as a tackle eligible, big man, explosive athlete ten to twelve snaps. We'll get into the running

backs in a minute. But what does that do having that other big body, Well, it adds a more physical presence. Instead of having a tight end that may not be as used to blocking run blocking, you're bringing an offensive lineman and Isaac did a great job of providing a hose also smashing down defensive ends all game long. If you want to win football games, you have to win in the trenches. And what we saw from the offensive line yesterday was that they re established the offensive line

two or three yards down the field. That was a dominating performance. We haven't seen the offensive line played that well in a long time. If they can that types of things continue, then you're able to hold onto the football like they did yesterday for thirty eight minutes. So this is the West Coast offense. This is a hybrid West Coast offense. Did any Reid have this kind of approach often? I mean he did run the football a couple of times where you just said, we're gonna una.

There were some games where Andy said, we're committed to the running. We're just going to continue to run it no matter what. But it more often than not, Andy was like, hey, we're gonna throw the football, and if we're throwing some runs from time to time, we're successful. The good thing that I saw yesterday they started early. They were very successful running the football with Ryan Matthews.

Doug continued to call those plays. A lot of times coaches they get greedy, they had some success running the football, then they wanted to get past happy. Doug never went away from it, and that shows you improvement from a head coach, but also shows you that he's committed to winning football games and helping out his defense. And that was that's a big help in winning games. What'd you see from the offensive line, Brian, because they certainly rose

to the challenge of running the football. Well, you know, we talked about aging. Jason Peters, he looked like he was twenty three yesterday did a great job of pulling great job of basically road grading, moving people out of the way. Jason Kelsey, a lot of people have said it, a lot of crazy things about him, but yesterday he had a very good game. Did a great job of coming out and pulling get in front of the running back.

Brandon Brooks again in another big rogue raider, did a great job of making sure that they were hold as a whole. This offensive line, again we haven't even mentioned by Tie's name, which is rare for a rookie right tackle. These guys did a great job of protecting Carson Wentz mean me in the pocket, but also in the run game, I mean pushing the pile, getting extra yards. When you're running backs, not getting contacted to two in three yards down the field, you will have a successful day running

the football. That's what happened yesterday, thirty eight minutes time of possession. And yet there are still things you look at and say the Eagles could be better. Seven penalties on the offense red zone opportunities that were missed, including a third and inches from the goal line. Brian, I didn't like the call, the way it was worrying the way it worked out here. I mean, if it works, it's a great call. If it doesn't work, you say, why did you run the one thing that you saw yesterday?

When you're running downhill at the Atlanta Falcons defense, you're gonna have some success, that's what you're talking about. The call. You went a little sideways, and you know you're gonna have some of those calls in the game where you're saying, everything else is working, why not try this? It didn't work out that way. I would have loved to have seen a downhill player, but for the most part, just

a tremendous commitment to the short passing game. Jordan Matthews very involved, Yeah, Zach Ertz very involved, and as you said earlier, darren Sproles getting his touches and really was uncoverable for the Atlanta fu Weals. Anytime you put darren Spros in the slot, and I remember Andy Ree would always tell me, if you're put in the slot. You're going to get the linebacker. We're expecting you to win

every one of those battles. And darren Spros, basically running almost the same route all game long, an option route against a linebacker, sometimes against the safety, did a great job of getting first downs, catching the ball for five six yards down the field, making people miss. That's what you brought Darren Sprows in here to be, not necessarily to be a feature back, even though he's done a great job at that. But this what he did yesterday

yesterday was beautiful. It was it was vintage darren Spros. That's what you need more of. You mentioned the term option route. Can you describe, kind of in layman's terms, what that is the option route? It gives you a different option. You run straightforward to the defender, and you can go out, meaning to your right or towards the sideline or your left, or you can take the middle

of the field. If if the linebacker is playing you in the inside leverage, you take the out and he was wide open many times the three or four times for five or six yards. Deren Spros does a great job of reading the defender. That's what the option route is. All about and if he takes away the outside he leans to the outside a little bit too much. Then you take the route right up the middle of the field. He does a great job of that as well. If you get those ones in the middle of the field,

those are the ones that you want. Those are the touchdowns. And the Eagles certainly making it work. Carson Wentz really efficient. He had the one fumble on the shack, but for the most part, Carson Wentz took what the defense gave him and the Eagles registering a huge win at Lincoln Financial. And let me say this about Carson it was a couple of games he's been kind of shaky in the pocket. Yesterday he did a great job of staying within the pocket, trusting his block in which did a great job. He

trusted the protection. He was able to deliver the football down the field, to the middle of the field, to the outside as well deep balls. That's impressive. You're talking about the provement from your head coach. You've got improvement from your offensive line as well as your quarterback. Right. Great win for the Eagles on Sunday. Now we look ahead to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, they beat the New England Patriots Sunday night football. Great football team. They're

rounding into shape just at the right time. This is a championship level football team. How did the Eagles match up against the Seattle Seahawks. We'll see it at the games, all right, yes, sir, all right,

appreciate it. Let's talk about the Seattle Seahawks six two and one in first place in the NFC West, and they are starting to peak at exactly the right time. David Bryan here at Eagles three sixty in the task on Sunday in the Pacific Northwest is a tall one. Yeah, for the Eagles who go against the physical defense. But I just Brian, it's just not the same legion of boom. As you watch that defense, how do the Eagles attack what Seattle does defensively? Well, I think you're right. This

not the exact same defense. But they play very well the similar to our team. Their defense shows up very well at home. And if I'm the Eagles, I'm going to test them right there in the middle of their defense. How can we make sure that they can stop our run game. I want to put Jason Peters on against their defensive ends. I want to make sure that we're able to pull Jason Kelsey just a bit I'm gonna trust this offensive line. We had a lot of success

against Atlanta because we trusted our offensive line. We were committed to the run. I'm gonna go in with that mindset and then if we can you hadn't make any way in our run game, then we'll go to the play acction then try to throw the ball down the field. But I'm definitely going to start in the trenches, winning

the trenches, trying to get a win that way. And while I say that the defense is not what it used to be with the vintage Legion of Doom, the Seattle Seahaks allowing just seventeen point six points per game, second best in the NFL. Film but don't break. Yeah, it'll be it'll be interoni to see Carson. They'll prepare all week in the noise, but it is a different level of decibel level in Seattle. It's really really ridiculous.

We have the best fans in the NFL, and I think Seattle probably has the second best fans because that home field advantage out there is on a different level. I played out there a couple of times during my career, but I also played out there when I was in San Francisco and they take the noise level to a whole different level. We have to be prepared for that young quarterback playing in that type of environment. I think

he'll do well. For the Eagles defense, they've got to find a way to keep Russell Wilson, the Seattle quarterback, in the pocket. Now, for those who really don't see Russell Wilson, you go, he's a good quarterback, but he's not a quarterback, and then you watch him play and you realize just how special is well he makes those special plays, those little smart plays that you just don't see any quarterback a lot of quarterbacks making. He's not going to run out of bounds and take a five

yard sack. He's not going to throw the ball away and get an intentional roundie. He's going to try to escape the pocket, which we have to make sure we contain. But he's also gonna find wide open receivers and we're gonna have to respect the play action pass, but we're also going to have to respect Russell Wilson's ability to run the football and throw them the run. It's going to be a tall task for us defensively, but again, it comes down to us winning in the trenches with

our front four. Maybe Michael Kendricks will play a big part in spying Russell Wilson just a bit there, it'll be I'm curious to see what Jim Sportz does. Yeah, We've got a lot to talk about this week is Eagles getting ready for Seattle. A team that knows how to win championships. Great test for these young Philadelphia Eagles. One more segment to go on Eagles three sixty. When we return, we'll talk about just that. The Eagles winning

a game in the fourth quarter. I want to find out from Brian just what that means for this five and four Eagles team after losing four out of five game the Eagles had a lead, lost it, and got

it back to beat the Falcons. and we get caught up here with everything happening. Our Emroso's on the menu segment on Tuesday, Head coach Doug Peterson in studio with me Glenn mcnow my co host, and its five takeaways from the win over Atlanta, and we take a trip around the NFC East, which continues to be so outstanding, Amarroso's the reason Philly sandwiches are so famous? All right? So, Brian, we have wondered in the past weeks here, how did the Eagles close out games? Are they good enough to do so? How does the

young team learn to do it? Well? They did it on Sunday, Yeah, so what does that mean? That means that they're learning. I mean before you talk about early in the season, not long ago, they couldn't find a way to win. They had leads in the end of the game and they couldn't find a way to win. This game was different. They found a way to win. They found a way to control the football with their

run game completions on third down. That's important. This is a young team and I think as a team, you hate the word process, you hate the word trust the process. But the truth is that every game you get a little bit better. The coaching staff got better between these last two games, the offense and defense got better, and I think the process is absolutely working and have out for Carson to engineer a drive to take the lead.

Players look at him a little differently now. Confidence I mean, I think everyone in the locker room understands the type of player that he is, but when you start showing it on the field, they that adds confidence to everyone in that locker room and it helps you out as a player. I think Carson Winson continue to develop as a player and winning those types of games, engineering those types of drives does nothing but boost his confidence. Sounds

good to me. Huh, feels good. Doesn't every Monday feel good after you win? Ryan Westbrook, Dave Spidero, thanks for joining us here on Eagles three sixty, Eagles five and four, right where they want to be starting the second half of this regular season. Have yourselves a great Eagles Day, everyone,
