Welcome everyone. It's Eagles three sixty on this Monday, after the big loss of the Dallas Cowboys, were welcome you to the Novicare Complex. Eagles insider Dave Spidero the Hall of Famer. Brian Westberku is a nominee for the Pro Football Hall of Fame of finalist. Congratulations, thank you very much so we can smile it out something today. One day after losening to the Dallas Cowboys, Brian some thoughts

on what happened at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday. We just need a lot of things to happen for us. We need to exec a lot better. We need our offense to try to figure things out. We need guys to block a lot better. We need to get the run established defense. We still have some work as well. The front seven needs to find a way to get some more penetration to get to the quarterback. And we

have to be able to cover in a secondary. Yeah, and the special teams giving up another big play block punt returned for a touchdown over two for the special teams in two games this season. So it is a significant hole for the Philadelphia Eagles. We will talk a little later on about us season in the past where the Eagles started this way and dug their way out of it and made the NFU Championship game that season. But a long way to go between now and then.

Some significant updates here Chip Kelly meeting the media today. Let's go out to Alex Smith our Eagles three sixty update, injuries, and a whole lot more. Hi everyone, Alex Smith here with your three sixty update, presented by Sports Authority. No practice here at the Novicare Complex today for the Eagles, but it was a chance for the team to look back at the film from yesterday's disappointing twenty to ten

loss the hands of the Dallas ol Boys. Today, head coach Chip Kelly met with the media explaining what went wrong in yesterday's defeat, and according to the head coach, it all starts up front with the lack of a running game. Now, I mean we didn't run a lot of plays, but I mean we ran sweep from running back on one side of the quarterback. We ran sweep from running back on the same side as a quarterback.

So we ran sweep with motion. You know, a couple of three different ways were running it, but we still didn't block them up front, So I don't think that's how we were handing it out or what. And the formations we were running him out and I think we're you know, they were all varied, but we still didn't The biggest thing is we didn't stop penetration all night, all night long, especially in the ring games. The Eagles defense was on the field for eighty five plays and

yesterday's lost to Dallas. And while Kelly explained that time possession doesn't really matter to him the coaching staff, the number of plays run does matter. I think it was a factor. They were on the field for eighty five snaps. You know, I think that's a byproduct of us not moving the ball offensively. So we weren't on the field offensively, and that's a you know, I'm not a time of possession guy, but I am a snap guy. You know, you look at the Atlanta game, who was sixty eight seventy.

You know, that's an even football game, both sides of the ball. Everybody played the kind of the same amount. But this one was an eighty five sixty game. You know that that can't happen. And that's where our offense has to be able to help our defense out by. We we need to continue drives and we can't go

three and out. So Kelly also explained that he is very confident in the Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford after a shaky performance and while Bradford hasn't really been able to get anything completed over the top of opposing defenses, Kelly once again stated that that has everything to do with the Eagles lack of a run game, you know, and you've got to establish a run so that that they have to commit more people to the run right now.

Right now, we haven't done anything in the run game where a lot of times we saw it, we saw all single higher two high safeties and those safeties were not involved in the run game at all because they didn't have to be in the run game at all. So I think, you know, it kind of goes hand in hand. When you start to run the football, well, you need to now take people from deep and bring them up a little bit closer to the line of scrimmage. When that happens, now you have an opportunity to throw

the ball over the top. Kelly explained that there is no injury update at this time on linebackers Key Alonso and Michael Kendricks, but be sure to keep it right here on Philadelphia Eagles dot com for the latest word on their health status. Also, be sure to join us for our pre and post practice press conferences as we bring them to you live throughout the week right here on Philadelphia Eagles dot com. Well, thanks so much, Alex. Ahead.

In the show, we take a look at some positions that need to be improved for the Philadelphia Eagles, not just individuals, but very significant spots on this football team. Players need to step up. We also take a look at around the league. Not everybody's doing all that well. There's a bunch of teams that are O and two

that still have high expectations. But when we returned Eagles three sixty, Brian and I are going to talk about what went right and what went wrong for the Eagles in their NFC East opener twenty to ten loss to those hated Dallas Cowboys. A wave of game day excitement is rolling into Duncan taste the new Tailgator breakfast sandwich

stacked with smoked sausage, fire roasted peppers, and onions. America runs un, Duncan we welcome you backat Eagles three sixty Dave Spidery O'Brian Westbrook reviewing the Eagles lost to the Dallas Cowboys. Let's start with some bright spots. You got any you know, there were a few bright spots. I think Defensively, the front seven did a pretty decent job eliminating some of the mistakes that they made early in

the game. And for a team that was on the field the defensive out of the ball for over forty minutes, I think they did an okay job. There's still some areas that they can improve, and that's really it from the bright spots. The other one that I would say is the injury to Tony Romo now gives this NFC East a wide open look. The Cowboys without Romo, without Dez Bryant for likely up to two months, if not longer. The Redskins at one and one, the Giants have blown

to double digit leads in the fourth quarter. They are oh and two, So maybe, you know, if Eagles get going here against the Jets, turn things around and let's harken back to the two thousand and three Eagles season loss and Lincoln Financial Field and the opener there against Tampa Bay, a blowout loss to New England on the road at Buffalo. The airplane loses altitude and this season turned around and you were part of it. How did it happen? You know? I think they've started with the

airplane losing a lot of altitude. Guys were panicking, stewardess were yelling and screaming and crying. But in that football game, we didn't play a great game. We got a couple good individual plays that towards the end of the game we found a way to win. I think, just like this football team, you have to your big players, your money guys, DeMarco Murray, your Nelson Aguila, your Jordan Matthews. They had to step up and find a way to make a play, make that play where they haven't done that.

But in that game, I think a lot of guys just stepped up. That's what it was. The group effort came together, the core guys came together, and they played. Well, that's what they have to do, all right, Brian. Yesterday the Eagles and the Cowboys, the running game is just going nowhere, going backwards. In fact, what is happening with this running game? Well, you have to have effective line play when you win games. We win in the trenches,

and right now they're not winning in the trenches. Too much penetration from tackle to tackle, including the tight end. Right now, they're not allowing themselves any chances, and so DeMarco Murray can't get on track because the offensive line is not allowing him the opportunity. Too much penetration in the back they were ruining any running game. Have defenses kind of correctly anticipated what's coming in a sense figured out what this offense is all about. But I don't

know if they figured it out. I just think that at this point they're telling all of their defensive linements just don't worry about two gapping, Just get penetration. Go straight up the field. And if you have a center pulling and your guards not able to down fast enough to get that guy that's penetrating, that's going to cause problems in the backfield. Those are the guys that are making them play. So is it a thing where Jeff Stolin says we're gonna change up the way we block

it up front? You know, it's hard to change schemes in the middle of the season. Early on in the season, But I think at this point you have to start doing things a little bit different. Instead of leaving your tight end on the island with defensive end, you might have to help with the tackle just a bit instead of leaving starting your center out starting to pull right

after the snaps the ball. Maybe he puts a hand on this guy before he leaves that situation, and that's going to help the guards out of an awful lot. Seventy yards rushing for the Eagles in two games, and without the run game, Brian Sam Bradford really is ineffective. We saw on Sunday a confused looking Bradford, a couple of interceptions, a fumble on a bad staff from Jason Kelsey, a huge, huge turnover in the red zone. So this

offense starts with the run game. If that's not going anywhere, the passing game getting nothing going down the field, what's your solution to fix that? Well, of course you start up front again. You need that protection, but I think that run game, getting that timpo going, that's the thing that you need. And right now they don't have the run game. Of course, you want to start getting some quick, easy passes to build confidence in your quarterback Sam Bradford.

But they have to find a way to get those things. That means the receivers have to get open. That means he needs time to develop those plays. Right now, neither one of those things are happening. One year ago, the Eagles leading the NFL in special teams play, and in fact, the Eagles winning games because of their special teams in twenty fourteen hasn't been the case. Through two games this year,

the Eagles have given up some big plays. Lost the hidden yardage battle against Atlanta, and then on Sunday, a big play early in the second half, a blocked punt return for a touchdown, the Cowboys executing it perfectly over John Dornboss and Brian Brayman. They timed it upright and they made the big play blocking Donnie Jones punt. Brian. We kind of took for granted if these special teams would be even better this year. Boy, coaches in the

league are pretty smart. Yeah, they're very smart. And every year you're putting stuff one film that can possibly be used by other staffs so they can defeat you. And so every year you have to be excellent in your personnel, but you have to be excellent in your execution and right now they're not excellent in your execution and punt team. All it is is about counting the numbers, understanding who your guy is and blocking that guy. You also understand

that they're going to run some stunts. They're gonna try to pick the center, pick the guard on those types of situations, and you have to have somebody to pick that up. Their personal protector has to help out. So not a lot went right for the Eagles on Sunday. One thing that was okay the Eagles in past defense, and we go to our All twenty two review with NFL Film Senior producer Greg Cosell. He talks about a play Damiko Ryan's made in the end zone, among others

kind of highlights in the past defense. Yesterday, the Eagles lost to the Cowboys in a disappointing game, but their defense really stood out. Let me show you a few of the plays that really impressed me. This was another outstanding play by the Eagles defense in the first quarter and it's saved a touchdown. Now, I want to show you the design of the play from the Cowboys perspective.

It's play action in the backfield and Tony Romo is trying to get the ball right here to Jason Witten, who's going to leak behind the defense, because the whole idea is for the play action to impact a Miko Ryans who's aligned over Witten. So Ryan steps forward and Witten gets behind him and it's an easy touchdown. But you know who really made this play Fletcher Cox right here. Fletcher Cox got in quick and their timing and this needed to be very precise, and Romo's timing was off

and he was late with his throw. Let's clear the screen and see what happens as we run this play. Look at Cox get in quickly. Romo need to plan early and deliver. He could not. Ryan's was able to recover and make a terrific play in the end zone to save it touchdown. This was the very last play from scrimmage in the first half. At this point, the Cowboys led three to nothing. Tony Romo needed to go to the end zone here or they would not be time for a field goal. Now what Romo wanted here

was his big tight end Escobar aligned right here. He's matched on Nolan Carroll the corner. That's who Romo wanted to get the ball to now Chris Maragos, who's right here. He initially started close to the line of scrimmage. Maragos did a really good job. He kind of baited Romo and you'll see as the play starts and we clear the screen that he dropped out and took away the inside route by Escobar. Beautifully done. Romo forced to come off that he had to get the ball to the

end zone. He threw an incompletion, an excellent job by Maragos, and the Cowboys were forced to kick a field goal. Thanks so much, Greg, Well being oh and two, it stinks. We all agree with that. You agree with that, We agree with that, everybody in the building agrees with that. But it is not the end of the world. We talked about it earlier two thousand and three of the Eagles reaching the NFC Championship game after starting oh and two, and if you look around the league, which will do

when we return to Eagles three sixty and two. A common theme among some teams who have playoff aspirations experience the power of physical therapy and Novocare rehabilitation. This is Eagles three sixty Dave Spidero, Brian Westbrook, the Eagles owen two. Looking for some good answers here this week against the Jets, oh and two around the league,

Brian seven other teams, potentially eight other teams. If the Colts lose tonight, O and two among them Seattle Detroit, a lot of people loving that team. The NFC's as you see it, is it wide open. I really do believe that NFC still is wide open when you think about it. That the Giants are o and two, that

gives us a chance. There the Redskins, who we still don't really believe in our one to one, and then the Cowboys without Tony Romo, without Dez Brian are two and ow and so we believe that those teams right there will slip just a bit. That gives a lot of opportunity for the Philadelphia Eagles football team. And I still think they have a lot of room ahead of them to continue to get better, to execute much better

and perform their game plan. The Washington Redskins one and one leading the NFL in rushing Brian, so they have something to hang their hat on offensively, along with the defenses played well. Yeah, the rosters and riskans have played well. It kind of gone pass the RG three thing and now they're depending on their run game and their defense to win football games. And you've talked to any player, any analysts, they need a run game and you need a defense to play well, and that's what the riskers

have Little Ball. How much can the Cowboys sustain without Tony Romo, without Dez Bryant, with Brandon Weedon at quarterback, with Joseph Randall at running back, without Randy Gregory. Greg Hardy's still out for two games, the Cowboys two and oh, But you wonder how they can continue to win without so many key pieces. They're getting some great coaching, and they're playing really good physical defense. They're playing aggressive physical defense.

But I'm a firm believer that no team in this NFL can win a lot of games and make it to the playoffs without a franchise type of quarterback, and

Brandon Weeden is not that guy. I think Joseph Randall is actually gonna be okay behind that offensive line, and that defense is still suspect in my mind, losing Gregory and some other players not getting hard at Scandrick as well, and so I still think that the Cowboys have a long way to go, especially with Brandon Wheaton at the helm of their offense, the Giants losing Eric Flowers with an injury of their left tackle on Sunday against the Falcons,

and once again in position like they were a week earlier to beat the Cowboys. On Sunday, the Giants had the Atlanta Falcons on the ropes and couldn't hold on in the fourth quarters. So they're at O and two team. They play the Redskins this week key nfcast battle on Thursday night, and the Giants I think maybe maybe the perrupts the most dangerous of the other three teams in

the division. I think they get Victor Cruz back, They're very potent offensively, and the defense kind of playing some solid defense other than what happened yesterday with Julio Jones, yeah, was the Giants. They're they're actually scoring points. They're finding a way to put the points on the board. However, they're not They're losing games that they bury in. So I think that's one of the things that can be corrected.

And so truthfully, I'm not so worried about the risk because I'm not so worried about the Cowboys because their quarterback situation. But the Giants are a team that if they get Cruise back and they continue to find a way to win, at the end, they have to just do one more quarter of football or even a half of a quarter of football. Then they they're actually two and oh instead of oh and two. That's a big difference. That's the team that I'm worried about just a bit there.

But with all that being said, the Eagles that in this division are still wide open. They're still a great opportunity. Even after Owens two start for the bird we are just two games in people the Seahawks into the Ravens and two, the Saints in two, Detroit is in two, and Chicago and two with a quarterback with a hamstring full, so the Bears could be in a whole lot of trouble. We hope that's not the case here in Philadelphia. Now.

For the Eagles to turn things around, a lot of players and a lot of positions have to turn it around. And when we return the Eagles three sixty, Brian and I will talk about some position groups that need to produce your best ends against prostate cancer is early detection. Come on in, You'll see the changes, You'll feel it, You'll love it. Welcome back, Dave Spidero, Brian Westbrook, Eagles three sixty. We come your way every day, Monday through Friday at five o'clock. Eagles getting ready for Week three, trying to put that game against Dallas behind them. Let's

talk about some positions that must be better. We begin on the offensive line, Brian, no personnel changes. The five you see are the five you're going to see moving forward, and that means Jason Peters and Alan Barber and Jason Kelsey and Andrew Gardner and Lane Johnson and Brent Sellick got to play play better run the football. How do you do it well? They first have to communicate a lot better. I saw it in the first game evening as well as this game. They weren't communicating very well.

And so when you're passing off games from guard to center and guard to tackle, you have to communicate better. You have to pass those things off much better. And they have to also find a way to be better on their double teams. If their double teams is intended for the guard and center to double team the three technique up to the linebacker, you have to get that guard off and to get up to that linebacker instead of allowing Sean Lee to run around all day long

without getting touched. So they have to do that better. And then the last thing they have to stop the penetration. They have to play on the defensive side of the line of scrimmage. And if they do that, though would be much better than playing on the offensive side of the line of scream. And if they do that, the passing game will get going. In We'll see what this group of wide receivers can do. Chip Kelly has talked throughout the summer here and the early part of the

season about the depth and the talented wide receiver. We just haven't seen the explosive plays that we've been accustomed to in chip Kelly's first two seasons. Where is Riley Cooper? Where is Josh Huff, Where is Miles Offson? Jordan Matthews shut out in the first half on Sunday A Nelson Agilore an intermediate route runner at this point, nothing down the field? Brian, how did the Eagles stretch out these defenses that seem to be creeping closer and closer to

the line of scrimmer. Where You're absolutely right, defenses are creeping closer and closer to the line of scrimmage. And so what you have to do is maybe, even if you don't complete it, take a shot down the field that's going to make a safety at least. Think about the deep, the deep route, the gold routes, the deep slants, things like that, the post those types of routes that the safeties have to worry about, but in this offense they haven't been worried at all. The other thing I

would do is I would design certain plays. I need to get Nelson Aguilar involved in the game plan early on. I want to design a few plays early on to get the ball in his hands, just to get his juices flowing. Riley Cooper the same thing. Get his juices flowing. You have a screen or two here for a Josh Huff, get his juices going. Don't just try to get Jordan Matthews involved. Get the other guys involved as well. That's going to open up things for everyone on this offense.

On the defensive side of the ball, outside linebacker with Brandon Graham and with Connor Barwin need more pass rush punch. Eagles were able to rotate three outside linebackers last year with Trent Cole in the mix. That depth is not there now and Graham's struggling Connor Barwin playing well, but it's not been enough to really force quarterbacks out of their comfort zone, and as a result, the Eagles secondary at times has given up some big, big plays. How

do you unleash a pass rush? You know? I think one of the things that Billy Davis has tried to do is blitz just a bit more. I think the blitz is starting to get to some teams. Unfortunately, that's going to leave is susceptible on the back end of the defense. And so now I just need corner Barwin, I need Brandon Graham, I need Benny Kerry, Fletcher Cox as Will. I need you to win your one on

one battles. These guys are talented guys. These are the guys that you brought in here to get that pass rush. I think they can do it. They just have to get consistent in winning those battles, and if they do that, that's going to take a lot of pressure off of

the secondary. In a span of one afternoon, the Eagles inside linebacker position when from deep and talented and promising to really concerning the injury t Kiko Alonzo Michael Kendricks with a hamstring injury, and suddenly third round draft picked Jordan Hicks in the middle of the action. Moving forward, he says he's ready. He played well on Sunday, but a lot of responsibility for Hicks alongside Demiko Ryans, who's clearly not all the way back to that achilles tendon injury.

Suddenly the Eagles looking at an inside linebacker spot. It's very similar to what it was last year. Lots of injuries and questionable depth. You know, you want that depth, that inside linebacker, especially with Demiko Ryans coming off that achilles. The one thing you have to worry about is that defense being on the field too long and so that may speak to the offense just a bit, but you need great play out of Jordan Hicks. Hey, listen, you're a young guy, but at this point you have to

grow up. This is a conversation that the lot of guys are gonna have with him. We can't. We don't have time for you to play like a rookie. We don't have time for you to act like a rookie. We need you to play like a veteran. We need you right now, So step your game up. Damiko Ryans is going to go on long way into Jordan Hicks's development. Yeah, so that's what we see. The Eagles needs step ups from just about everybody on this roster, every position group

hum this roster to turn things around. We'll be back in just a moment. Some final thoughts here on Eagles three sixty With extra twenty checking from sant ANDERI, you can get paid twenty dollars a month just direct deposit fifteen hundred dollars or more and pay two bills a month with the online bill pay feature.
