We welcome you to Eagles three sixty days for their one Mike Quick. As the Eagles get ready for the Washington Redskins and Mike, there is of course a lot of talk about how this season has turned upside down. If you had to identify quickly three areas where it's really are three reasons why it's changed from three and on and out five and seven, what would you say,

do I have to exclude Lane Johnson? Well, I think it's starting, fact, Dave, I think it starts with the offensive line, because I think early in the season, when Carson Wentz was playing his best football, he was comfortable, he was protected, and he had that security that the offensive line they're gonna hold up. They're gonna give him the time I'm dead he needs. I think you would

start at the offensive line. Didn't have to look at the skilled position players and what they've contributed are not and then the defense. When this team started out and everyone was so high on this team, the defensive front, they were dominant. They were one of the best in the league and creating havoc, getting to the quarterback, knocking people around at the line of scrimmage, winning at the line of scrimmage, and those three things, in my mind the big reason why this thing has turned in the

wrong direction. Eagles hoping to turn it back in the right direction in these final four games, starting Sunday against the Washington Redskins. Doug Peterson and a slew of players meeting the media on this Wednesday, We've got your three sixty update with Alex Smith. Hi everyone, I'm Alex Smith

here with your three sixty update. The Eagles back at practice today as they begin the work week for Sunday's matchup against the Washington Redskins, the first of three division home games here in the final four game stretched for the Eagles, and after the disappointing loss in Cincinnati last week, the Eagles are ready to come out with more energy playing in front of the home crowd on Sunday. I mean,

you look in the mirror. Art of the mirror. First, you gotta, um, I think you gotta always evaluate yourself in those situations. See if you're giving um that effort each and every play, each and every game, and that's all you can focus on is getting better individually given for finishing each and every play. UM, I think guys are gonna respond really well to it, you know, doing the extra things, um, you know needed to just get

us to you know that next step. Um. You know, we're just searching for for you know, for anything right now to kind of give us a spark and an edge, um team to you know, get out this slump. So I mean, we just gotta go out there and play and give everything we've got on every single play. You know, I think that it gets it's getting late in the year. I think it's easy, you know sometimes to just let up a little bit on a play, but you know, we're in the NFL and you can't let that stuff go.

So at the end of the day, I think I think this team cares. I think this team cares a lot um, but we just got to do more. Meanwhile, today we also heard from head coach Doug Peterson, who spoke about how in the last matchup with Washington, the team fell behind early, did fight back, but ultimately went on to lose that game. This time, coach Peterson looking for a different outcome on Sunday afternoon. You know, it's a tough place to play. Obviously, felt like we had

opportunities in the game. We didn't capitalize on a few things in the football game fell behind again. Defense we had, you know, Malcolm had to pick six and kind of kept us right in there. Special teams had a big play, you know. So those are those are things that kind of kept us in that football game. I know, offensively we have to we have to do a little bit

better executing our game plan. Just understanding it's great to now finally have a home game here with them and a great opportunity against against a good football team that's that's playing extremely well. And last but not least, we'll end things with an injury update. Some good news for the Eagles as it looks as if running back Ryan Matthews and wide receiver Jordan Matthews will both be back in the lineup on Sunday, as both players were at

practice here today. Meanwhile, wide receiver Doryl Greenbeckham still sitting out from practice and we'll have to keep an eye on him during the week to see if he's ready to go on Sunday. With your three sixty update, I'm Alex Smith. Thanks so much, Alex. We've got a lot to get you on Eagles three sixty. In just a bit, we'll hear from Mike quick about the Washington Redskins. Tough

loss for them last week in Arizona. But when we return, offensive coordinator Frank Reich in studio talking about an offense that has really struggled since that early season's success. What is going on with the offense we'll find out next. Their legend is legendary. They've seen the end zone more often than any other duo in history. They are professional football player. You're all right, simply right checking from the sun time their bank. You say crazy, I say crafted. You say savage. I say practice, crazy, crafted, savage practice. Let's run that whole thing back. You say unbelievable, I say achievable. You say incredible. I say inevitable. Unbelievable, achievable, incredible, inevitable.

Let's run that whole thing back. Harps to compete, elect your life to replenish. Be noisy, be sun, be near, be far, be joyful, be together. Let's celebrate joy with Duncan's holiday flavored coffees, espressos and donuts America runs on Duncan trying to talk some offense here. Offensive coordinator Frank Reich joins me in studio and Frank, we know what the numbers say, and it's been a tough little run for the Philadelphi Eagles offensively. What have you seen good

and not so good? Well? I think you know, I think the good is for instance, in the last game, I mean, you don't want to say there's much good, but we drove back sixty times, which is crazy. But have one sack. That's positive. We've been better in the red zone and better on third down the last couple of weeks. That pot that's positive. But here's what's not positive.

We got to play more consistent football. We gotta we gotta, we gotta get some more big chunk plays, and we gotta find ways to be more productive and put more points up on the board. Let's kind to go group by group. Your wife receivers. Paul Turner gets his chance to play here, had a nice game six catches on Sunday in Cincinnati. Nelson was consistent, and he was physical and he was focused. DGB has come on the last few weeks. What are you seeing from that group as

we head into the final four games of his regular season. Yeah, I mean I think DGB is continuing to make more and more of an impact. That's a good thing. He's playing with more confidence and and more swagger. That's that's a good thing. He's a big man. I mean, even that play got hurt this last week. You know, Berfect gets a clean shot on him and perfect and almost as hurt as he is. That just goes to show you how physical of a guy DGB is. So that's

a good thing. Nelson came back and played well, you know he really he had those two key fourth down catches. They were tough catches, good plays. I was happy for him. That's the way you got to approach it. Just build the confidence back one play at a time, you know, one reception at a time. He did a nice job. And then like you said, Paul Turner came in and you know, made the first career reception there, you know, caught that naked bootleg there. Carson made a good play,

took it for a big game. But that's what we were expecting out of him. Tight end Zechers has really come on in the last month or so. That must be really a good feeling for you. And what a target in the red zone all of a sudden catching touchdown passes. Yeah, Zach, you know, I mean, we all know it is just a matter of time. I think we all know it was a matter of time. And then he got banged up there for a few games early in the year, but it seemed to be hit.

He and Carson seemed to be hitting their stride as far as chemistry, understanding some things on routes, and you know that's real positive. All right. So let's talk about the offensive line. Now, first four games, the same starting five, the offense is humming lane, Johnson goes out and since then there have been four different starting combinations in the eight games. How difficult is that to overcome? Yeah, I

mean it's difficult. It takes as tall. But I've been in some places where you know, this has happened before. But I have to say where I have more confidence, Like when we're losing these guys and when we have to shift things around, I don't find myself, oh we're in trouble. I mean I really feel confident in the guys. I feel stout in Eugene and doing a good job of getting those guys ready that they're they're good players. I mean it does take a little bit of a toll.

I think where it showed up a little bit is in the run game. You know, you know, having the consistency in the run game, a lot of those combination blocks. Um. I think the past protection and the communication on blitz stuff has been pretty good. Um as was the case this past weekend. So, but naturally, you want all your you want all your bullets in your belt. The quarterback, Carson,

the Project, the franchise, twelve games into his career. We all, you know, we all, everybody wants him to be perfect. I know that's not going to happen. What are you seeing, Frank in the way he's developed. I mean, I'm just glad we got him, That's all I can tell you. I Mean, this guy is a winner in every way as a player, as a leader, He understands the position. He has the mental toughness to fight through the ups

and downs that it takes. UM so very excited about him, and you know there's been ups and downs, but this is a guy that you can build a franchise around. He's throwing the ball well, you know, still completing sixty three percent of his passes, which is a pretty good number. But you're never happy, you know, and we're never happy as coaches. So we just keep pushing them to get better and he will. What do you want from this

offense the last four weeks the regular season? You know, it's funny you get here to the beginning of a week, you know, after the twelfth game, and I was just talking to Carson about this before I came down here with you. Where you come into week thirteen or your thirteenth game, and you wish you could say at the beginning of year, you wish you could help. We could all understand that when you get to this point, it doesn't matter whether your record is twelve and oz Orzo

and twelve. I walk in today with the same mindset, the same goal. I'm going to prepare to win and then we're going to play to win. And so you can't allow the circumstances the to dictate the approach that you take. So I expect us to come in like professionals, with a lot of passion and juice and take it one week at a time. It's really not until the end of the season that you go back and evaluate fully comprehensively everything, is it. Yeah, I mean you're doing

a little chunks along the way. You know, you're reevaluating things, but afterwards you certainly do a much more thorough evaluation. As an Eagles fact, I think the big story is that Eagles fans just want to know that Carson's making the right kind of progress, even though there are some hurdles along the way. I mean, when you look at last week, you know he's making incredible progress. I've never been more confident that we got the right guy. Last week.

We throw a sixty times one sack. That's a lot of credit to the offensive line, but that's a lot of credit to Carson. Did a couple of nice things on Blitz. Pick up, understands, protections, understands. Coverage is very seldom do we come off the field and say, oh, you got fooled on that one. It doesn't happen to him. He sees it, he understands it. We're going the right direction. How do you get better at not having passed his

knockdown to the line of scrimmage? And I know Cincinnati's really long and yeah, it's all yeah, that's just to feel thing now. And and Cincinnati take their an outlier. I mean they're not. We played him. It was real. But they got four guys who are in the top ten of batting balls down. This is what they do. But that's why they only got one sack in sixty past tens because they are not rushing the passer. They stand there. They time if they do a good job.

Carson's release point is up here. It's it's high enough. He's six five. It's just final lane and throw it something. You know that team is very good at it. Give him credit. Um, but I think over time that's not going to be an issue. Frank, thanks thanks for joining us. Frank Reaking Studio in Philadelphia Eagles dot com. You here to buy the tickets? the Washington Redskins. So let's take a look at the Eagles upcoming schedule, presented by NFL Ticket Exchange powered by Ticketmaster. What is it like to have gone through twelve games the preseason. Your body is exhausted.

And remember the Eagles had a bye week after Game three, so it's been a long time since they've had a break. It's a long season. They'll get a mini break after the Thursday night game. But you're worn at this point in the season. Through twelve games and through the four preseason games, you're really worn down. And it's really when you have to take better care of your body. Supposedly you're doing that throughout the season, but now you really

have to get your rest. You have to eat properly, you have to do all the recovery things after practices, after games to make sure that you can get back to whatever your peak performance level is. At this point, you really want to try and get there, maximize what you have left in the tank. With the four games left in the season, let's take a look at the Redskins.

In our first look at this Washington team, coming off a tough loss in Arizona, they beat the Eagles in game number five of the regular season twenty twenty Mike, a game that just didn't feel that close well, because we saw the vulnerability in the Eagles run defense. Because the Washington Redskins, their offensive line coupled with Kelly the

young running back undrafted, he's been outstanding offensive line. They're solid, They're going to have the same guys up front, and they really can run the football down there, and which was a problem for the Eagles in the first matchup. All right, let's begin though at quarterback. Kirk Cousins playing on a franchise tag, is playing like a franchise quarterback. Would you believe that, Mike? Do you think that he is a long term solution in Washington? I think because

he has a real good supporting cast. He's got two great tight end weapons. He's got good receivers on the outside, and Garson Sean Jackson and Jamison Crowder second year out of Duke an outstanding a young wide receiver, kick returner. They get him in these matchups where he's got a two way go or he's working the slot, he is a problem to the fen And you know, Vernon Davis is great on the outside, So I think he's got

a lot of weapons. And then he's had a solid offensive line, same five guys for most of the season. They're getting back their left tackle now, so they're solid upfront. I think it makes it a lot easier for Kirk Cousin that he knows who he has every single game at running back. We mentioned Robert Kelly in Washington. We're spotlighting Darren sproles here with the Eagles, but the challenge for Philadel Matthew. Mike has been running the ball consistently.

Ryan Matthews on track to get back on the field. Why has this run game really peeled off as the season's kind of gone along. It starts up front, Dave. It starts in winning the line of scrimmage, and that's where the Eagles are having their problems in their run game. They have to be able to win the line of scrimmage, regardless if it's Wendell's Smallwood, if it's Matthews. It doesn't matter if Darren sprous all of these guys, they're ineffective if you cannot win the line of scrimmage the bigs.

It's all about the big guys. We like to see the flash of the skilled position guys, but it's really about the trenches and the big guys winning in the trenches. For the Eagles. At wide receiver, Jordan Matthews expected to play now. Last week, Mike, I need your opinion. Nelson agil Or has some catches, Paul Turner had six receptions. Dorial Greenbeckham before he was injured, played pretty well. Did

you see growth in that group? Well, just to see Nelson agil Are play well hold onto the football, that to me is growth in itself. There's a number one draft pick out of USC. You really want him to come along. You really want to see him start to become the player that you wanted when you're draft at Nelson Agila. If that happens, then the other guys, just the guys that are fill in, the support guys, I

think they'll be okay. But you need a leading man at the wide receiver position other than Jordan Matthews and that has to emerge and hopefully at some point that can be Nelson Agilars. Paul Turner. What's his ceiling Mike? What do you see in him? I think Paul Turner's solid, a solid backup, a solid guy that can come in

and move the chains. He's gonna catch the ball and what some of the route concepts that the Eagles have, You're gonna be able to get Paul Turner open against a good man to man cover guy, He's gonna struggle, he's gonna have his problems. But Paul Turner is a very serviceable receiver. He's gonna catch the football and that's key. So that is the Eagles wide receiver. Look, we talked

about Jamison Crowder already at tight end. Washington loaded, Jordan Reids still a question mark to play in this game. If not, they go with Vernon Davis, who really hurt the Eagles in landover Maryland, and the Eagles getting some production here from Zach Ertz two touchdowns in the red zone. Of Lates Mike, we've been waiting for Zach to be a star wide star tight end. Well, you know, he had his biggest game against the Redskins. He had fifteen catches,

the set a record against the Washington Redskins. But that to me is an area where the Eagles can attack the Redskins in the passing game against the tight end, well, using the tight end against the linebackers in the safeties. I think that's where they have to go with the football. So that's Zach Ertz, that's Brent Sellick, that's Jordan Matthews work in the middle, of the field or between the numbers, that's the area if you go to the outside, that's

where the Redskins are their strongest. Their cornerbacks are very good. So the Eagles have to attack in the passing game the middle of the field, all right, and quick look at the defenses again, we're focusing on the Eagles numbers. They look good. As Jim Schwartz said on Tuesday, though, Eagles have really been in a slump these last three games after playing by and large, other than the Washington game, pretty well in the previous nine games. What has happened

to the Eagles on that side of the ball. Well, it gets back to the trenches, because think about the first four games when the defense they were playing so well. It's because they're able to get up field. They're able to be disruptive, and it took a lot of pressure off the back end. So the guys in the secondary they didn't have so many throws at them, they didn't have to contend with so many passes because upfront they were so good. And they're just not getting that now.

When you get when you get the double teams on Fletcher Cox and the tributines on Fletcher Cox, well, other guys are one on one. They've got to win those one on one battles to make this defense effective. Again, maybe the most unusual part of the defensive season. We thought Vinnie Curry going from a three four to a four to three his numbers would explode. It hasn't happened. Is Vinnie just better ultimately in a three to four

on the outside. I don't know the answer to that, but I know that we haven't gotten the production that we expected to get from Benny or any of these guys in the rush, even Connor Borrowing on the outside. These guys are getting some one on ones from time to time. They have to be able to win those one on one. In the inside, you're getting Fletcher Cock's

lineup and a three technique he and Benny Logan. Many times those guys are going to get the double teams and sometimes they'll win, but most often you're gonna have two three hundred pound guys that are going to be able to hold him off. The guys that are getting to one on ones have to win in one on one now. Trent Williams back for the Redskins on Sunday after his four game suspension. Washington will be very strong on Sunday at the line of scrimmage. That is our

I'm Alex Smith, and welcome back to another edition of stats Own, where every week we go inside the box score from

the eagles most recent game. So as we look back at Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, We'll start things off with a key kick return from Kenyon Barner, and while the Eagles were well in the hole at this point in the third quarter, this kick return did set up the Eagles first score of the game. Barner and Wendell Smallwood have split time as the Eagles number one returner this year, but it was Barner doing most of

the damage on Sunday. His biggest play of the day and perhaps the most exciting play from any Eagle on the afternoon, came on his sixty one yard return with about four minutes to go in the third quarter. Barner sprints a total of ninety two point seven five yards on the play before finally being pushed out of bounds by Mike Nugent. He also reaches a max speed of twenty one point zero three miles per hour, his second

fastest effort of the twenty sixteen season. Next up, let's take a look at the Eagles defense, and while they were in a whole early and Sunday's game, in the second half, they were able to turn things around and force two turnovers to try to swing the momentum back in the Eagle's favor. Benny Logan forced to fumble on the very first play of the fourth quarter, and after generating a strong pass rush on Andy Dalton, Benny is also able to pivot and track down Rex Burkhead to

pop the ball free. Logan reaches a max speed of twelve point two seven miles per hour on the play, which is pretty impressive for a two hundred and fifteen pound lineman and covers twenty two point eight nine yards. In fact, Logan wasn't the only defensive lineman who stood out, as Brandon Graham also covered over seventeen yards and reached a MAC speed of fifteen point one four miles per hour on a tackle for loss in the second quarter.

Later in the fourth quarter, though, it's Nigel Bradham who hustles fifty one total yards on the play, reaching a MAC speed of nearly seventeen miles per hour. And the Eagles may have been down late, but the defense gave their best effort to get the Eagles back in position down the stretch and finally will end on a positive note from the offensive side of the ball and say congratulations to wide receiver Paul Turner who made his first career NFL reception on Sunday and made his first career

start well worth the way. After battling his way from the practice squad to the active roster, Paul Turner got his chance to shine on Sunday and he made the most of his first career NFL grab. Carson went scrambled to his right and found Turner racing across the field and after making the grab, Turner turned on the Jets and darted for a forty one yard game. All told, on the play, Turner covered sixty three point two yards, hitting a MAC speed of nineteen point three nine miles

per hour. The Louisiana Tech product finished the day with six catches for eighty yards, averaging over thirteen yards per catch. All right, well, that will wrap things up for this week's edition of Stats Only, but we will see you back here next week right here in Philadelphia Eagles dot Com and the official Eagles Mobile app. Thank you, Alex. You know, Mike numbers, numbers, numbers? What do they mean? When you were drafted? You ran a four six forty numbers? Lie?

Come on, we just said if stat's only segment, you can't say that numbers? Lie? Why I didn't run a four to six? Whatever? What'd you run? I ran four five nine? How fast you play though? I ran? I ran four to four eight? I ran four to five two? Why did already say you were slow? Then? That's slow? Is it? Wide receiver? You want a wide receiver that runs four to four every day? Uphilled four four? That's what you really want to play faster than you ran

in the combine. I played scared so no one could catch me, because when I got the ball in my hands, I was scared, so I was faster. That's the way you're supposed to do it. Mike m you wonder about the Eagles going into the situation at Lincoln Financial Field, totally different feel after these three losses Seattle and then home

against Green Bay at Cincinnati. What do they need to do to turn it around? Well, get the crowd into it. I think it's if you can at Lincoln Financial Field get this home crowd into the game early. I think it really helps this team, and certainly the crowd's just looking for something good, something positive that they can get behind. We talk about establishing the run. They really have to try and establish the run to take some of the

weight off of the young quarterback. Having him to throw too many times, it's just not the right way to win and then and not the right way to develop this young quarterback. I want to see how the defense adjusts against Washington after that flat out embarrassing games two hundred and thirty rushing yards allowed in that game at

Landover maryl Like. It seems like they would just want to do something to show that they're not the team that we saw in that first matchup that allowed the Ridskins to just run the ball down their throat, or the team that we saw last week and Cincinnator that team. Yeah, my quick day, Spadaro, thanks for joining us here on Eagles three sixty. I'm back tomorrow with Glenn mcnell. In the meantime, have yourselves are great eagles.
