Hi everyone. I'm Alex Smith and this is your three
sixty update. A momentous day here at the Novacare Complex as head coach Doug Peterson spoke for the first time since quarterback Sam Bradford was traded to the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday, and during his press conference today, coach Peterson officially named rookie number two overall pick Carson Wentz as the Eagles starting quarterback for Week one against Cleveland, and according to coach Peterson, he's seen steps all along that Wentz would be ready for this moment, but things really
took a turn during rookie minicamp. You know, we obviously made this decision, and I spent obviously over the weekend with with with my offensive staff, with Frank and d Flippo and really the entire staff, and everybody feels like this is this kid's ready to go, you know, and we we drafted him to take take on the reins and and uh, you know, it's something now that that that we're prepared to do and looking forward to Cleveland and and you know, one day at a time with him,
and at the same time, we've we've got to be you know, obviously smart and how we handle it. Of course, it is a little bit of a drastic change going from a veteran quarterback to a rookie making his first NFL start in the season opener, but coach Peterson said that the message to his team does not change. We come to work every single day, we roll our sleeves up and we go to work. That the expectation level
doesn't change. As for whence he will become the first quarterback in Eagles history to start the season opener as a rookie, but we heard from him at the podium inside the auditorium as well, and he said that he's fully healed and ready to go for Week one. I knew I was ready, you know, I knew I was taking the mental reps being out the last couple of weeks. Even going into the first game, the first preseason game, you know, I felt very confident. Fell like I've developed
at a fast pace and now it's here. We caught up with a number of veterans inside the locker room, inting tight end Brent sellec and while Seleek says that Wentz does have a lot on his plate, he thinks the rookie quarterback is ready for the challenge. The quarterback, you know, obviously has to know everything. You know, they got to know more than any other position on the field. I think that's obviously to anyone that watches the game.
So he's got a lot on his plate, and I'm you know, I think we all understand that he understands that, but I think he's up for the challenge to hear more from sellec Coach Peterson, and Carson Wentz as he prepares for his first start in the NFL on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
