Speaker 1

I had a good week. How was your week busy? Well, you're in a real chitty chatty kind of mood today, aren't we towards This is going to be a really short podcast.

Speaker 2

Yeah, it was busy, and you'll find out soon about the time that, well, you organized a bunch of stuff and I didn't. I didn't communicate with you correctly.

Speaker 1

Actually, do you know what this is? Why I've had a great week. One I got to drive a whole I got to drive a few cars that were on my bucket list. I've driven them before, but this time quite fast. That was an outright The other one was a bmw M three competition, which, oh man, it's such a refined car. Anyway, we'll get we'll get into it later.

But I also got to do the one thing that was at the top of my bucket list, and that was to take Trevor Long into a creepy basement and put a blindfold on it, a.

Speaker 2

Pink blindfold as well, pink blindfold.

Speaker 1

He loved it.

Speaker 2

So, yeah, hearing about this.

Speaker 1

So Trevor and I found ourselves in a studio alone together. Thanks for that, Pavelai.

Speaker 2

Actually, I've got to be honest. I did this on purpose, because the last time we were together, I could feel a real tension between you guys, and I just thought, you know, the best way to let them nut it out, so to speak, is to leave them in a room together, one blindfolded with a sort of frillly pink blindfold and the other with I don't even know what device he had for you, But how did that go down?

Speaker 1

That's interesting. I learned a lot about Trevor that day. You know. I was looking at Trevor sitting across the studio and I was thinking, you remind me of someone, and I couldn't put my finger on it, and then I realized he looks like a courtroom sketch of a man who's done some sort of sexual crime. Anyway, So yes, I took Trevor de Actually, should we play this now?

Speaker 2

Yeah, let's just do that, because then it won't be as well. I assume it won't be as weird.

Speaker 1

I'll roll the tape. I don't think Paul's showing up.

Speaker 3

I mean I got here on time, I haven't checked, I haven't reconfirmed. Shut up, trev He's definitely not coming. There is that a hoodie triple extra large?

Speaker 1

Yep?

Speaker 3

Is there anything's gonna fit me? May you don't get this body by gun on the gym?

Speaker 1

Certainly not.

Speaker 3

This is cadre induced.

Speaker 1

You're actually slowly turning into a Chico roll.

Speaker 3

Oh it's better than turning into the gobbleddock?

Speaker 1

What's that? Is that a nineteen sixties reference? Is that from hr stuff? What is that?

Speaker 3

Don't pretend to be younger than you are.

Speaker 1

I'm younger than you.

Speaker 3

Well, I understand that because I'm feeling much more people people listening out with the gobbled dookies. Listen, I've got a great present from Amanda and Jonesy.

Speaker 1

She doesn't even know who you are.

Speaker 4

They sent me a smash cake. She doesn't know who you are, mate, she knows he's exactly who. Excuse me for a second, what are you doing? Just calling Paul?

Speaker 1

Hih Hi, Amanda? It's how are you well? How are you going?

Speaker 2

Yeah?

Speaker 1

Good?

Speaker 5

Hey?

Speaker 1

Just a quick question. Have you ever heard of someone called Trevor Long?

Speaker 6

Say it again?

Speaker 1

Yeah, Trevor Long. He's uh, I don't know, but apparently he recommends vacuum cleaners on the Today Show or something, so.

Speaker 2

It's sort a police thing.

Speaker 1

Listen.

Speaker 4

I won't stand for this, Amanda.

Speaker 2

He's not that guy that pretends to go to those tech expos and just plays with the toys like a five year old.

Speaker 1

He's going to sex bo and he's playing with.

Speaker 2

Got the wrong expo, did he?

Speaker 1

I think so? More than once. The smash cake means nothing unbelievable. Thank you for joining us on that. Hey, by the way, before I let you go, I'm going to try and butter you up and see if you're coming our show one day. I'd love to do.

Speaker 3

I have to talk about tech like Trevor does.

Speaker 1

No, definitely not, please don't. But we can talk cars because she drove in beyond two thousand. That's exactly right when I was a little kid, and Trevor was probably about forty two at the time. Yes, so you were recommending amazing cars. I remember there was. You were showing us stuff like sat NAV back in the day, noise canceling. Look, tell me all that stuff.

Speaker 6

I don't remember.

Speaker 1

I'm happy to chat about it.

Speaker 6

But as my husband knows, the car stories went in one ear and out the other.

Speaker 2

I didn't even recognize my own car in a crowded car park.

Speaker 1

Well, listen, it's good to know that we've cleared up. Nobody knows who Trevor Long.

Speaker 7

Is and I'd love to come on your podcast, so I'll see you before two.

Speaker 1

Thank you very much. Good to good to chat with topping back on Jones and Amanda very soon. No one knows who you are, that's sure.

Speaker 2

Sure see your fellas.

Speaker 8

Bye.

Speaker 1

Do you know what's sad about that?

Speaker 3

I bought your present?

Speaker 1

You bought me a present? I bought you merch What I.

Speaker 3

Bought you an FtM umbrella and hat buddy Paul Marreck doesn't bring you car experts stuff, does he?

Speaker 4

Oh?

Speaker 1

Look at that it's metal and shiny. Wow, cheap shit, this changes every and an umbrella.

Speaker 4

And you've just feeding can stitch me up with Amanda Keller's that hits hard?

Speaker 1

Okay, you know what? That hits real hard. I've got a present for you too. Really yeah, I think it's time where we become what we've always destined to be. Sexy. Wow, this is for you, This is for you, show the cameras.

Speaker 5

I did think it was something else, to be honest, when I saw it come out of your pocket and it looked pink and lazy, I thought, mate, what have you got?

Speaker 1

It is there's more to come. Are you ready, I'm good to go. Okay, take your pants off. I've got three different supercars for you, and you're gonna just feel them, touch them, okay, and just find that. You've got to work out the touching. Okay, are we ready? Let's go with the first one. All right, Okay, here we go, touch, touch, touch, We're going closer. Feel free to ask any questions.

Speaker 2

There you go.

Speaker 1

All right, trev is touching the car. Jesus, story of your life.

Speaker 3

That feels like the front.

Speaker 2

Okay, that's the bonnet.

Speaker 1

If we can avoid okay, you want me to avoid that, you can avoid the badge.

Speaker 2

That could be a Gillaway.

Speaker 3

All right, Well, it's got strong lines, strong lines. Oh hang on, that's an.

Speaker 1

Out of our age. My god, he got it in one. Take off the feet.

Speaker 2

You got it. Very nice.

Speaker 1

We get a chance to it's this bit they gave it away. Oh yeah, jump on in, jump on in.

Speaker 7

Where's the fire up button?

Speaker 2

Listen to the smile?

Speaker 3

Oh there it is there.

Speaker 9

Yes, every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Speaker 1

Right, let's go with carn number two. You have me bring it over?

Speaker 5

Who's bringing over?

Speaker 1

You've got a bit of a taste of the engine.

Speaker 5

I immediately felt Ferrari or push, but then I did.

Speaker 1

Have a sense of land beginning.

Speaker 5

But at this point I'm feeling Ferrara.

Speaker 1

Okay, all right, let's get let's get touching. Bring it over, bring it over, bring it over.

Speaker 5

Oh oh oh jesus, hang on a minute. All right, the kind of it's very very square. Okay, obviously four will drive. So let's rule out Porsche because it's too square, it's too tall to be a Ferrari out and it's not a Urus, so that.

Speaker 1

Rules out everything. I just suggested that down be the biggest giveaway. Now that you're up the bath. Very square.

Speaker 5

That's a range Rover. It must be at SV eight or something. It's what do they call it. They've got a name for their sports.

Speaker 1

M Is it a range rover?

Speaker 2

Yes, it's a range rover, sport with.

Speaker 5

The sv whatever the hell it's called SVR SVR that's it.

Speaker 1

Yes, take you blindfold off it well and in pearl too.

Speaker 10

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Wow. So I remember when this is like the AMG equivalent of it was.

Speaker 2

Actually I remember when they launched this.

Speaker 5

They losched it up on the Central coast and we got to drive it around a private road and that sound, I'm thinking, that doesn't come from a range road.

Speaker 1

What are you talking about. It's incredible, I think to me, that sounded when you.

Speaker 4

Brought it over, I thought it was a Ferrari.

Speaker 1

That wasn't a gr That's the greatest thing. I recommended his car Scoop City up the front, but the back with the quad exhaust, and it's.

Speaker 5

I got to say this, Matt Pearl, I don't mind at all.

Speaker 1

It's nice. I do not mind. Are you in this with your yeah Emily wagon?

Speaker 2

You know, yeah?

Speaker 1

All right? I love it? Big ass car, Yeah, big ass car. You're ready for cart number three? Stand in the corner, standing the dirty corner where you belong car number three.

Speaker 3

Well, that's very deceptive.

Speaker 5

That's very deceptive because when you bring it over, the rumble sounded nice. But over here look at his air conditioner.

Speaker 1

Two steps forward.

Speaker 5

So my initial thought again was push, because I had a nine to eleven a few weeks ago and had this kind of I don't know, very nice, subtle, we'll hang on, very pointy, very pointy, but large headlight.

Speaker 1

What are you thinking so far?

Speaker 6

Matt?

Speaker 5

Matt Finish, it's going to be a luxury European.

Speaker 1

You're on a good track.

Speaker 3

It's not a coupe. It's a bit more. It feels like it's a sedan.

Speaker 1

So it's a sedan.

Speaker 3

Oh, nice little lip.

Speaker 5

Mercedes.

Speaker 1

I'll tell you what. Why don't we go around into the passenger seat? Yeah, you can have a good listen on there.

Speaker 3

Am I feeling my way around there?

Speaker 1

Yes? I wouldn't miss that for the world.

Speaker 2

Jesus Christ.

Speaker 5

It's very bulbous lights as well, very bulgy.

Speaker 3

Is this the driver's about the car?

Speaker 6

Yeah?

Speaker 5

I've never gott into a cart blindfolded before.

Speaker 1

So can I feel in here as well? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, I feel the interior. What do you think?

Speaker 5

Info attainment's up high.

Speaker 3

But it's not a Mercedes because they like to blink things together. It's got hints of BMW and Volkswagen. So I'm going M three.

Speaker 1

Take you blind off, Take your blindfold off? MW definitely the MW M three competition.

Speaker 2

Oh what does that add?

Speaker 1

Well, that adds all this, that adds all this fiber, that adds this.

Speaker 3

Oh that's very nice.

Speaker 5

It's a nice subtle growl and I reckon there's probably Yeah, there is an exhaust button.

Speaker 1

We love an exhaust.

Speaker 5

Any any car that has the little exhaust button is a car I want to be in.

Speaker 1

It's really meaty, isn't it.

Speaker 11

It's funny because the range Rover has more kind of throat to it, you know what I mean, where this is a little bit more I don't want to say restrained, but there's a bit more throat to the to the ranging.

Speaker 1

Yeah. Ah, well, Paul down he did, but we're best. He's now so screw you, Paul, Yeah right or dies right, Yeah, let's go.

Speaker 2

Wow. That was so touching, and for you as well. I'm glad that it was a bit touchy.

Speaker 1

Fairly.

Speaker 2

I'm glad the feuds finally over. And I'm actually good on Tred for being a good sport because despite me saying that I deliberately didn't turn up. I yeah, I'll say it's your fault, but due to wires crossing, I didn't turn up, and thankfully trev actually turned up and took my place normally. I of the gagger is that he should replace you, but.

Speaker 1

Trev no, no, no, shut up, shut up. Car companies would be jumping like rats from a seeking ship if Trevor Long got involved in this fault.

Speaker 2

But would there be a few uphots we wouldn't be getting sued. Yeah, people would want to deal with us in professional life. We'd receive good ratings.

Speaker 1

What are you talking about? We're quite a reputable podcast according to Johnna. Yeah, have you got reach out some can News? Have you got any more dms from Donna lately?

Speaker 2

No? No, she hasn't slid into my dms recently, so I think I don't know if she's made parole yet on but yeah, hopefully.

Speaker 1

Donna would probably slide into your dms. But like should put a little video she slides into your dams like parently, family, it's me parently, it's Donna. Me neck me back. I think I left some snacks under me rack. Hey Pavely, I heard you like commodoores hed you like me on Old Force.

Speaker 2

That's good. I like that.

Speaker 1

Do you do you want to be king of this mountain?

Speaker 2

Hey?

Speaker 1

Wei should talk can News because you decided to take another chicky trip to Sweden, which your family must have been wrapped about. Actually, the would have been genuinely excited.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I was gonna say I think I went too uneven praised by that one.

Speaker 1

But then this is this is kind of called the the Ionic five N their arrival to the Kia EB six G T.

Speaker 2

Yes, well, I was sworn to secret. We were driving prototype versions of the on five in and it's actually

the place is fascinating. It's called Argiplog, and I'm sure I'm not saying that right, but it's basically a region in the Arctic Circle within Sweden where there's five or six different proving grounds and then a stack of tire and manufacturer sort of shared proving grounds within the area, and they all set up base there over winter and they set up tracks over the lakes that are frozen obviously at the time, and they develop all of the

cars heating systems, fuel systems, traction control systems. You've got to think that I heard some great stories from the guys at the Holden proven ground. They used to go there in like a VA commodore, for example, and they would put the worst fuel they could find in the cars and just let them sit outside overnight in like

negative twenty degree temperatures and try and crank them. And the whole point of it was to make sure that if a customer wound up in this worst case scenario that the car would be capable of starting and not having any issues. So this place is where all of that kind of testing happens, and Hyundai shares a facility there. It's called the Mobus Test Facility that's owned by the

Hyundai brand. So we had a chance test IK five end there and also put to test a system they have called the Drift Optimizer, and it's basically it allows you to do drifting in this car and we're doing it on a frozen lake that when I got out of the car I couldn't even stand straight on because it was so slippery. Yet the car is able to allow you to do these epic drifts, all sort of fully controlled by the car. It was just absolutely unreal and it just shows you how much tech has actually

gone into this thing. And yeah, I'm excited for it to finally be launched.

Speaker 1

What can you tell us about the interior because from what I could sort of pinpoint and I'm not gonna like it's a weird one with the Ionic five because I've got a love hate relationship with the interior. It's kind of cool at first, Glann, but after you spend some time in it, it becomes not as practical as you thought. But the EV six, for instance, has the big seats with the gap and behind them. I'm guessing this would have the same sort of thing.

Speaker 2

Yeah, it's a similar setup. They have made some changes to the interior and we couldn't take photos of the interior, but basically, the steering wheel is different to other Ionic fives, so you've got extra buttons on the steering wheel for all these n modes, and in addition to that you have different seats as well, so they're really quite supportive. They hug you in nicely. The car has a big set of brakes. It's got different design up the front there with these big air dams that lead air in.

It's got like a little spoiler built onto the back, and more cooling for the rear motors. Sorry for the rear motor, but it is. It is a very different car, and I think the design is going to be significantly different to the EV six in the sense that the EV six GT doesn't look so different to the rest of the EV six range as the Hendonic five will

look totally different. One of the things that I love about it that they spoke to us about was the ability to adjust your talk split so within the car you can actually send all of the talk to the rear axle or the front axle, or any combination in between, similar to what you can do in Tesla products. They've also created fake gear shifts so you can drive it

as a manual car. It's so weird. So you accelerate and then you pull the lever to go up to the next gear, and it simulates a sort of gear shift in a talk bend.

Speaker 1

That's amazing, So you'll feel like a typical gear shift, almost.

Speaker 2

Like a clutch. Yeah, yeah, right, and you can go up and down gears like it is a remarkable sort of setup that they've done, and the whole reason they've done this is so that they can give a driver transitioning from an internal combustion end car to one of these a bit more comfort. And then they even take it one step further with noise as well. They're going to make it so you can upload all of your own noises to the car as it drives. So yeah, I reckon, it's pretty unreal. We don't know what the

price is yet. I reckon it'll be one hundred grand mark. It'll probably be as quick if not slightly quicker than the EB six GT, and Albert Bimm and the sort of the technical director there, he's sort of quite confident that this will be able to do to full lapse of the Nerberg Green without any power degradation, which I

think is pretty surprising to me. So yeah, look, I'm keen to have a drive of it when it is not just on ice surface adaptive damping too for the ride, and obviously our drive was fairly limited in terms of driving. It was from the test facility through to the lake test track and on this sort of right in handling track as well, but on early counts it actually is. It is a pretty pretty cool thing and looking forward to having a proper drive.

Speaker 1

I'm excited to see what this looks like because I love I've become a bit of a fan boy of what end products are all about and what they stand for lately, and I think Young Day of just an example of doing this, showing the industry on doing this right because they've done it well. And I like the fact that the end products are a different they look different too, like that. One of my biggest disappointments with the EV six GT, apart from a few little tweaks

and quirks here and there. It didn't look that much different to you know, the the EV six. I think car people would probably obviously be able to tell the difference, but you know, the end cars are a completely different beast. I'd like the I've heard whispers there could be screens on the steering wheel similar to the Mercedes as well. I like the fact that you can. I love the fact that you can. You can like customize the noises like as you're going that. It's just it's bizarre, the

fact that you can customize this. To say, when you get up to say a hundred, Paul's car would just start going oh yeahs as in the streams Kenny Rodgers, Babe, you know this one. You're gonna pull over? You want to pull over car? Yeah? What do you?

Speaker 8

Reckon?

Speaker 1

He's pull over?

Speaker 6

All right?

Speaker 1

Just just just for ships and gigs. Can I call you Donna? Would you mind? Okay?

Speaker 2

Thanks? Triv So I was browsing the internet and came across the Hummer EV suv because I know they did like a sort of pick up version, but there is actually an suv version coming. They reckon They have ninety thousand Hummer EV reservations about sixty percent of those for the pickup. Have you seen this thing?

Speaker 1

It is incredible. Like once upon a time, I think I said to you, Americans can't do interior, and that is that is that's changing big time. That's changed with the with the Ford Ranger stuff, and it is certainly changing with this Hummer. It is just incredible.

Speaker 2

Yeah. Look, I've said all along that with these things, Hummers have always been just about being the most ridiculous vehicle for every ridiculous reason. And this is no exception. It is just a pointless ev because it's like zero to a hundred in like under four seconds. The battery pack is ridiculously enormous and unnecessarily enormous. It weighs a ridiculous amount as well, like it just has no logic

to it whatsoever. But even the numbers six hundred and nineteen kilowatts of power and this is will we'll talk fifteen thousand new meters of talk, I mean, and they're working on like an even more ridiculous version that's said to be like seven hundred and fifty kilowats of power as well.

Speaker 1

And the weight in this thing, like if you get if you get hit by one of these, the survival rate is zero. There is zero chance you are coming back from getting hit by Ahama.

Speaker 2

Yeah, like it is. It is ridiculous. And I'm just googling the weight here, so nine thousand pounds, so that is let me just ten thousand lbs to killograms. It weighs four and a half tons.

Speaker 1

It's just ridiculous.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I just have no words. So yeah, look, I think there's a chance this may eventually come to Australia. And that's one of the cool things with evs. They're just easier to do conversions to right hand drive because you have less of those components that you do in internal combustion cars getting in the way of things, and they have often eat pass set up steerby wire systems. So yeah, I think it's pretty cool. And yeah, I just ye, just look at it. It just looks stupid.

Speaker 1

It looks amazing. Once upon a time, Arnie was famous for driving one of these. And also yeah, yeah, there's also a radio guy in the States called Howard Stern who had one of the first Hummer stretch limos. Now every bogan go into it. That is funny, bloody, desperate and dateless ball in the country has got one of these. But there's such a cool car.

Speaker 2

The battery size two hundred and twelve killer what hours? That are compared to let's say, my Tesla more Why, which is sixty sixty ish killer what hours? It's like almost four times bigger than that. It's just just ridiculous.

Speaker 1

Do you know what I also love? I love the fact that you can take parts off. Yes, it's just so cool. Sorry, I would much rather just watch this than Paul's face. I think I think the front light's up too, like the letters up the front yep. Yeah, what a beast ah Anyway, So you know what else is ridiculous?

Speaker 2

Would you pay one hundred and forty thousand dollars for a Corolla?

Speaker 1

Does it have the letters gr attached to it?

Speaker 2

It does? But would you pay that much? Because that is what a dealer in the States is trying to charge. I have this thing called market adjustments in the States, and it's basically an ability for the dealers to go, hey, you know what, I know that this is limited, so I'm going to go ahead and just charge you whatever you want, you know, whatever I want for it. And the market adjustment on this has put it up at just around one hundred thousand US dollars, which converts to

about one hundred and forty thousand Australian dollars. It is clinically insane. And I know that Toyota here in Australia, we're trying to avoid that and didn't want to sell the car to scalpers, but it's already happening. Like you look at the people that have taken delivery and they're already sort of straight onto car sales with stupid price sort of listed on them, which you can't avoid ultimately.

Speaker 1

No, I was just about to start looking that up actually, because yeah, it's I mean, there's no more spots. Very much like the gi Yaris. They're gone. They're gone before they've arrived, which pisses me off in a way because they're not necessarily going to the right people. They're just going to the people that can you know, chuck what seventy thousand dollars on a car instantly and no, they'll probably make at least fifteen on it.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and that's the thing. It is kind of frustrating because it locks actual people out from buying these things, Like there's one list now on car sales for ninety seven thousand, some five hundred dollars, which is like twenty grand above asking And you know, I just think, I just think these people are you know, they're just profiteering, So you know, good on them, I guess is it

is what it is. But ultimately, at the end of the day, you're going to have to I don't know, you just lose brand appeal when this stuff happens, because if you don't get one, you're not going to come back for it because there's just no way you're going to pay a hundred k for it.

Speaker 1

I also wonder how long that that's going to stick for, because you know gr yaris you could get when they were readvertising that and scalping those off, it was probably about fifteen grand over the buying price. So now would somebody, even with say five thousand k's on now, would someone pay far fifteen grand more than the buying price?

Speaker 2

Look, I think some people would because they desperately want one. But now even this guy I'm looking at it on car sales. You have to have a registration listed on car sales, and he's blanked out the regio and you can't click on it to see the Joe either. So he's going against cars Ole's rules there, because I think this type of person probably has cars that are from Toyota, which is the people they preferenced for this. And it just says to me that, you know, this perfect person

is just here for profiteering. It's not just someone who's bought one and had second thoughts about it.

Speaker 1

You want to call him up?

Speaker 2

What if we were to call and just to ask why it's so expensive? I'll just be honest. Yeah, I'm gonna go on yet. Hey, bro, how you doing beautiful?

Speaker 1

I'm just looking at your car and I just wanted to give you a call, so I'll I'll just be quick. My name's My name's Paul. I do a podcast and I was talking about how much I love the new Toyota gr and we were just talking about it and You're going on to castles and it came up and we're like, oh wow, So do you do you want to have a chat on air about this or do you want to just yeah? I don't moment, Yeah, So what's your name?

Speaker 6

Pavel?

Speaker 7

Oh?

Speaker 1

Cool, that's me Pavel or Pavelvel. You've taken ownership of the car. Yes, I have, yeah, right, how do you How do you find it so far?

Speaker 6

Honestly, it's better than I expected. I love it, And to be honest, for this, from my circumstances, I would honestly just keep it. But it's honestly, it's one of the best guys I've driven. I've driven first few cars from old school J D M down to like Z cars. Yeah, and it's just a it's a different feel. I've never never experienced anything like it. To me, to be honest, I.

Speaker 1

Got a lot. I got to tell you, I'm surprised you're selling it. Is it one of those things, I mean, you seem to be in love with it. Is it one of those things where you kind of go, well, I'm into the car, but it's not quite many expectations. Or is it kind of a situation where you thought I can probably make a bit of coin if I chuck it up now, do you know what I mean?

Speaker 6

Not really, because it's one of those things where I've always been into my European cars, and I'm more shifting towards getting a European like an M three or a V eight. I love my big block motors. I thought I would give the little thrill all the chance, and honestly it's amazing. But for the things I want to do to the car, I don't want to really ruin it, if you get what I mean. Yeah, So my plans were to tune it, do it up at on exhaust wheels, lawer it. But then at the same time, I don't

want to really accumulate too much money. But it's something. It's one of those cars where I know if I still for me to get one again, it will be really hard because of what I've been hearing around as well. I was actually specing out to get the Morozzo edition.

Speaker 1

Yeah that's the one with the two seats in the rollbar.

Speaker 6

That's right, the sixth seats and the roll bar. But for me to get that, apparently it's like a lottery ticket. So I went ahead and I wasn't even given a choice of color or anything like that. It's just you know, I was second in line and my dealership and they gave me the same corner. I said, or you know what, let me give her a go. I've fought from previously owning a Golfer and like a fifth year other cars as well. It's up there with the golfer. In my opinion, what you're you're.

Speaker 1

Like, you're selling it for twenty k more, you know what I mean. It feels first glance. There's a lot of people listening that will go, oh, that just this dude's having a money grab, you know. But at the same time, I get what you're saying.

Speaker 6

So yeah, So originally because what I do is like I because I usually keep them and I store them away. I don't really want to let go of the croller.

Speaker 1

So I just thought if we get as why not I'm selling a Tesla model. Why if you're interested, I don't know best tests.

Speaker 6

Then I love my I love my guests. A Lean engines for the moment.

Speaker 1

Hi, it's good to chat, good to know where you are with it, and yeah, best of luck with this sal Man. You don't mind if we chuck you on our podcast.

Speaker 6

No, I don't mind, man.

Speaker 1

Listen, Man, we'll love you and leave you. Thanks for giving us some insight onto your car, Man, We really appreciate it, and thanks for coming on the potty bro.

Speaker 6

That's all right, man, I mean.

Speaker 1

I guess we now naturally will talk about this car. The twenty twenty three we should do you want to get into the official car review, Let's do it. That's not what you say, that's not what you say. Should we get into the car review? Yes, okay, TV's going to isolate that and play it back to him.

Speaker 2

I knew that was going to happen.

Speaker 1

Yes, yes, yes, So the twenty twenty three Toyota GR Corolla. Man, I remember when this popped up and the photos surfaced.

Speaker 8

And.

Speaker 1

I loved it, and you were like, nah, looks a bit super cheap auto, you know, with the body kitten stuff, especially with the three exhausts. But now that you've got to see it up in the flesh, it's great.

Speaker 2

Yes, it looks. It looks significantly better like in the in the flesh, it's got like it's got pumped arches, it's got the sort of functional vents on the bonno like, it's got the big exhaust pipes like it is. It is a really good looking thing. And like I heard this the other day and I think this is right. So it's a one point six letter turbo charged three letter petrol engine. They was saying the power, Yeah, here

it is. So the kilo figure, according to toy puts the GR roll on par with the Baghetti Shiron for killawatt per liter of engine output. That is bloody amazing because it's two hundred and twenty one killer lots of power and three hundred and seventy meters of talks damn good.

Speaker 1

Yeah, the figures on paper are amazing, and it's coming out of such a small, sophisticated thing, a bit like Paul.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah, that's yep. No, I'm like the hum Vy just big brute anyway, So it's all we'll drive. I love the fact that, like the Giaris, you can select whether you want front bias, rear bias, or fifty to fifty. This also has front and rear toss and limited slip differentials. Like it's a proper little package here, and when we fanged around the proving ground, it's really fun to drive. It is fairly It has a bit of body roll

built into it. You can kind of feel that it's built for a bit of a rally course to throw around. It's not really like a civic type how where it's super firm and quite uncomfortable. It'll do zero to one hundred in under six seconds manual transmission only, and they do a lightweight version that I think it's like thirty five kilos lighter than the standard one that only has two seats and lightweight wheels and slightly more talk as well, and that is due to it being lightweight. So yeah,

I reckon it's a fun little car. I didn't love the noise. So inside the cabinet sounds great, but outside it just sounds like induction noise. And I don't know, do you think that a car like this needs to sound good?

Speaker 1

You look at the competitors, like the yon Day I thirty N or the Gulf R. Yeah, the I thirty N sounds spectacular.

Speaker 2

Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 1

There. It's an interesting one because when you look at those three stacked up, what's your favorite it is?

Speaker 2

It is hard because I've just driven the Civic Type A and that'll still be under embargos. I can't talk about it. But it's a very different package to the Corolla and the Civic Type A front wheel drive only, so when you look at the Corolla, it's got the benefit of being all wheel drive, but you're kind of

hampered with that engine. Like it's an incredible amount they've been able to extract out of it, But I don't know how much you could modify there without the thing just igniting in flames if you try to get a bit more out of it. Whereas with the I thirty N and the Type you've got so much more headroom. And even though they're both front wheel drive, they both deliver quite a mode of experiences. And with the Kyuendai, like you don't even need to drive it fast, and

it sounds like, you know, it just sounds unreal. So I just reckon that that they could have missed a trick with this.

Speaker 1

But it's also fairly expensive.

Speaker 2

It is like seventy two grand or whatever, like it's a lot of money. So yeah, you are paying for that privilege. But look, it is a special car. And I think in five, ten, fifteen years time, when electric cars are becoming more and more normal, this is going to stand out. And I think this will be a collector's item. I really do think that in fifteen years time, you look back at this and go, Wow, it's so cool that they actually made one of those that wasn't

hybrid diized or anything like that. It was just pure internal combustion. I reckon that's pretty cool.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I agree, I think this will be one to keep in the shed and try not to drive it around too much. I think it's everything you say it is. It looks great, it feels great. There's a few things that lack a little bit. The interior for me wasn't I don't think where it should have been in twenty twenty three. I love that it's lost. I love that it's mad.

Speaker 2

Sorry, yeah, it lost a center console. Its no center console. They deleted that, which means you don't get air vents in the rear either. Like, it's just like.

Speaker 1

What the infotainment display too, is just like's that thick bezzling around the side.

Speaker 2

In all, it's just and you can tell there's room there for a much bigger and better infotainment system.

Speaker 1

I mean that's you look at that compared to say the I thirty en. I mean, I'm I'm not hugely wrapped with the interior of the I thirty end, but fuck they do that. They do the infotainment displaying that so well with the track stuff and everything in N mode. They do that brilliantly. And I just feel like the tech in this it just looked a little bit. It looked a little even though it is updated and it's technically it's there. It just looks and feels a little bit doss program in a way.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah, exactly. The rest of the rest of the car feels high tech, and then that doesn't. They did deliver though, with a cool driver display and that gives you like a g bubble and all these other really cool gauges, which I really like. So all that sort of stuff's cool. It revs all the way through the red line, So a lot of these cars are sort

of limited so you can't actually rev them up. This goes all the way through the red line, which I reckon is pretty unreal, and it's not something you come to expect with a sort of with a car like this, you expect it to be a bit more docile. But from that point of view, it's fun. I wish it had like a drift mode or something. I sort of tried fairly hard to get this thing to drift, and it really doesn't do it unless you get the handbrake

involved or you're on of low news surface. So I just wish it had the ability to kick all the talk to the rear to sort of get it to be a bit more sort of engaging in that sense. But that's lot of that is it is really good fun to drive, excellent brakes, and just it puts a big smile on your face, which is what you really want from a car like this.

Speaker 1

It's packed full of the goods. It looks fantastic. I love the fact that they've taken care and built this properly, like they've built it in a separate factory to all the other toyotas as well. But it's let down I think slightly in the tech. That's a real shame. I would have loved to have seen a bit more storage as well. I mean, believe it or not, I mean this storage and stuff like that. It's a simple thing, but I feel like it. You know, it's as a daily it should it should be there.

Speaker 2

Yeah, one hundred percent. And yeah you could check out the video review I shot of it at the Car Expert YouTube channel. I have one hundred thousand views. Mate. Okay, okay, days.

Speaker 1

Media guy Marty is crying after you said that as he plays his piano. He loves the piano. Do you know about that about producing?

Speaker 5

Mary?

Speaker 2

You know, I'm going to have to get some lessons, I reckon, Yeah.

Speaker 1

Get some lessons off Marty, you'll be like Jeffrey Rush and shine before you know it.

Speaker 2

I don't know what that means, but it sounds exciting.

Speaker 1

It's a movie from the mid nineties. You were probably un a bone back then, but.

Speaker 2

It was that six months we were sailing to Astrata.

Speaker 1

Yeah, you were just trying to survive.

Speaker 2

Reception wasn't great on there.

Speaker 1

You're too busy, just trying to avoid pirates, not pirates at the caravans, actual pirates.

Speaker 2

Thanks, guys, Hey, let's let's chat feedback. You know, it's around this time of the show where I love to sort of get into it and just share some of the great feedback you guys leave us and sometimes not not great as well, but sometimes great.

Speaker 1

Let's just trade on the great because that's the only stuff I care about, and it's the only stuff I generally read. If it's doesn't mention how good I am in the first three words, I don't care. I just won't read the rest.

Speaker 2

Well, I'll start with this one. I don't know if I've already read this one, but the title is entertaining, so it's a good start. From Jordan dot Ong, and he wrote, frankly, don't know if this is a car podcast or a Donna podcast. But overall ten out of ten good feedback. This one's good as well. From Tought Tough, it is heard rate humor not a great start, okay, one star this review. The can't info components are fine, the attempt at humor is puile.

Speaker 1

You know what I liked about that? As you read that in your media watch voice, you know you're watching medium watch and they get to the letters part and they're like that broadcaster was atrocious, se the fat controller.

Speaker 2

But it's up from there. So then we had Rob f one two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight nine, and he wrote, or she wrote, they them funny as the title, some funny gags with the sprinkling of car info. I'm the target market, so I really enjoy listening to this podcast on your Rob. And then this is probably my favorite from Footy bogan Ah, titled Donna and Little Pavelet.

Speaker 1

Yes, but it reads this is the.

Speaker 2

Informative car podcast that I wasn't even looking for. I asked chat gpt to find the best podcast for Little Paveler and MILF's name Donna.

Speaker 7

Trust me, she's not a milf that dream of converting homosexual men of Serbian descent, and descent is spelt wrong, so it actually reads homosexual men of Serbian decent.

Speaker 2

Unfortunately, there is too much car talking between the daily adventures of don on the school run. I agree, long lived, little Pavlo.

Speaker 1

Okay, we do have some serious dms. You know, it's quite funny. There's that. There's one guy who keeps going, hey, you've got to answer my question again this week. Hey, you've got to answer my question again, and I can't find him. I know. One of his questions were when are we getting merch? And it was an interesting one. I'm like, well, maybe we should get merch.

Speaker 2

He gave merch to Trevor this week. That fluffy eye piece.

Speaker 1

Yeah, that's a good one. Maybe we could do Maybe we could do fluffy eye pieces of merch.

Speaker 2

Yeah, Donna was here and it just goes on your face.

Speaker 1

Maybe maybe we could do like a Donner car air freshener that you're hanging your car and it's actually a drawing of a vagina and it just smells like a dozen rotten oysters.

Speaker 6

Yeah.

Speaker 2

I like that.

Speaker 1

Okay, we'll get onto that. That's a good idea, Paul, I catch Paul just opening the box of air freshers, just like rubbing them under his harbit. It's just just he just tears them open like it's a KFC refresher. Towl just wipes his face anyway. So yes, when are we getting merched? I don't know, that's not a bad one. I'll speak to a few people. Maybe we can make it happen.

Speaker 2

That'd be fun to speak to Marty. Maybe between piano lessons he can organize something muddy if you want to be like a little a little parvlay. Yeah, please leave us a rating on whichever platform you're listening to. Obviously, since we ruptured the airwaves and had legal issues, some people took issue with a lot of stuff and they've just been very negative. So it's proved.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I agree, since we since we kind of came back, and when we did come back, ironically, we got more listens than ever before. When we started sort of calling out even more crap that happens in the industry, which you know, I love, Everything went even bigger. But it also brings out a few haters, which is fine.

Speaker 2

Yeah, that's good. We thrive off haters and just on very serious note, very briefly, I love haters because they are certainly in our business life. We had a lot of haters when we started Car Expert, and I love haters because you take what they say and they're obviously someone who sits at home and has nothing better to do with their time, and you just use that to grow and you use that to push you even further.

And I found that whenever we're in a position where a hater comes out and says something, you basically use that as fuel to keep going. So bring it on, I say, And for those who can't be bothered wasting their time being nasty pasties heading give us a five star rating, leave a funny comment as well, because we'd love to read it out on the show, and contact at the Driver's Show dot com dot au if I want to send us an email.

Speaker 1

Two says are now an rs SO drivers.

Speaker 2

He's hitting his keyboard, but I think it's got rubber keys, which is why you probably can't hear this.

Speaker 8

This podcast is fucking woeful. In my day, if you had a point to make or some sort of an opinion, you'd stand outside the steps of the town hall and shouted through a rolled up newspaper now I don't mind little pavlais comments, and I quite enjoy his YouTube channel and might quite enjoy his program and his sense of fashion. He really knows how to wear the shit out of those rivers slecks. What I don't appreciate is that Gordon Fellow who clearly hasn't driven anything pre nineteen eighty one.

What an absolute university trendy you want to be? And probably a homosection. I could go on for fa too long, and I probably will, which.

Speaker 1

My wife will be like, why were you so late tonight? I'm like, well, I was bashing an imaginary keyboard, making up an old man voice with a little Pavli That's why. Now go to bed.

Speaker 10

You're waking up our children. Didn't you said that? You said that, You said that was your I saw your mouth, that was you.

Speaker 2

I would never say that to my life anyway, Yes you would. Anyway, I'm going home.

Speaker 1

Yeah, did your wife still listen to this podcast?

Speaker 2

By the way, I hope not.

Speaker 1

Did you stop at the Trevor one because that offended a lot of people. Anyway, Thank you Trevor for coming back on the show. Thank you Pa, Thank you to everyone, and please like, comment, share, love you, bye,
