This is the drive-in podcast, take one, but a big bada, boom. Welcome to episode 241 Of the drive-in podcast on today's episode, we have our top billing draft of the greatest Harrison Ford roles, so use the bathroom. Now, grab that popcorn and enjoy episode 241 up the driving podcast. How do you Duty welcome to episode two for one of TDI. This is dr. O on the horn to start per usual. I'm joined by my co-host. My best friend and Harrison Ford
Aficionado Ricky flicks. Good to see my friend, good to hear from you eventually, but I need to lead off this podcast by saying you did a tremendous job for the most part hosting last episode. Well, done snaps for the kids for the most part. Yeah, you know why for the most part because you said we were on episode 240, we never had episode 239. So that will be forever. We'll just call the Lost episode. Maybe we'll go back in time. We'll go to this.
Exact period will review like asteroid City or some movie. We didn't get to and we'll call it episode 239. But it is a black hole in our, I guess listen, auger discography. That's what we're looking for. But it did have an episode emergency episode So yes, we did have an emergency episode but that was just titled emergency pod. I didn't even put a number on that one.
I can go back and make a revision but you did do a excellent job especially it was unclear whether I was going to make the pot or not and the fact that I made it for the last part of it, I was ecstatic and it was a was a privilege to cut up that podcast and here's someone else for once, drop a bada-bing bada-boom and it was special, it was special and that's what teammates are Or you're a great teammate, you pick? You pick me up when I'm down. I'll pick you up when you're
down. We're a team here. If you Flex. Yes, we are the TDI team and thanks again to jack for helping me out there. Jumping on the Pod, new MCU correspondent great guests on the Pod. Another another new guests for guests of the year. Yeah, I knew not to be in the money. Yeah. Candidate for guests of the Year. We're sure we're surely going to have him back. Maybe we go midseason, talk about. Out secret Invasion. We can do finale. Hopefully the show picks up a little bit.
Did you watch it? I did watch it. I thought it was. Okay. You know, it was a little slow to start. It was a lot of exposition I heard you talking about that on the Pod. It was a lot of like okay the Scrolls, this is what they're doing, this is why there's a different faction and then you have like Ben mendelsohn and you got his daughter, Amelia Clark now.
Like and then they have to go through that relationship felt like a lot of bouncing Out during the episode and it didn't really have a firm footing in my eyes, but I thought the ending was very good right that what the terrorist attack and it seems like Kingsley, been a deer is going to do it. Formidable job as the king scroll is that we call him the king scroll? No no no. He's just gråvik, gråvik gråvik. That's what he is.
Sorry. I was listening and I heard King scroll so many times from Jack's his mouth that I think he's the king scroll but you guys had some nice and lightning thoughts. Hopefully, Picks up a little bit though. You know. I do, I do like Nick Fury without the eyepatch though, it shows like he's not the same guy. We that we known these past however, many projects he's been in. This is a different version. Yeah, I'd like that too. I think you're thinking of super
scroll super-skrull. Okay, not Kings and they hinted at it in episode 2 which episode 2. I thought it was okay as well. I don't think it was great. It as is similar to episode one where there's more Exposition and It showed that Nick Fury had further room to fall. Which I didn't love, but I guess I'm hoping. This is now the bottom of Nick Fury and there's nowhere to go.
But up the next four episodes and there's some shocking twists, they do kind of hint hat, super scroll, which I guess that I but again it's nothing of note of yet. This series it's not Prestige television yet. This feels definitely more. More the cable route. This is nowhere near and door and that's still like not going up to my expectations there, but the end of the day, I still will be watching. So I didn't get to episode two yet. So I'm glad you didn't divulge
too much information there. Know what I would like to show like Marvel's taking this series seriously is that if major hero showed up but the story still focused on Nick Fury, right? He was the central figure rather than him being on the periphery. Like usual and that's where it comes. Like, are they a scroll or not? I think that would really draw viewership especially because I mean it's the lowest viewed Marvel debut since Miss Marvel. Right?
That's series came out. Its I think was just above that debut. So also hopefully viewership goes up, haven't checked it recently for episode 2. Will stay locked in. I'm hoping to see more. I have been watching something else that Ricky Flex. It's really been holding my attention these last two days.
And we got to talk just a tiny bit about the bear because I want to do like a full Deep dive on it because I watched the first five episodes and there's a couple that I really enjoyed and then a couple that I thought didn't live up to the high bar set during season one where I felt every episode during season one was must watch seems like season 2. We're going a lot. We're going a lot into the supporting characters, devoting an entire episodes to those.
Characters, sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't Sydney character with a 0 @a B. Re I didn't love that episode right where it goes off into her. Background learning more about her, she seems like almost like a co-lead. I've finished the entirety of the 10 episodes but she's been similar to a co-lead and we've kind of like strip back. The screen screen time, I met Jeremy Allen White. I don't necessarily love that. However, the episode centering on Marcus.
I believe those, I was 14. I was You do and you get a great great. I want to say nearly fantastic supporting appearance by Will Poulter. I love that episode, right? And you go to go to Amsterdam, we're going to Copenhagen I think it was one of the best episodes I've seen thus far and then episode 6 happens and it's like it All-Star Game of TV stars, just showing out and they're not just there for a quick. Five seconds they're actually having substantial.
Shal screen time and it's the likes of Sarah Paulson. Bob Odenkirk Jamie Lee, Curtis Jon. Bernthal just seems like a Mulaney it John Mulaney and just when I thought like okay the only person I didn't really get a lot of screen time as John Mulaney and then he has this great moment where he gives the toast at the Christmas dinner. I'm going to have that episode played on repeat, it's going to be in my cycle of Christmas watching and viewings.
I thought that was it. Amazing episode our length extended, it twice, as long as usual episode. I thought that's where I left off. It was amazing. Yes, I won't go any deeper after that but just my quick comments, I think Wednesday this upcoming Wednesday obviously dial Destiny. Coming up this weekend review coming on Mondays pot, I think Wednesday that's enough time people listeners to watch the bear. I think to L be like almost three weeks, right? Or two weeks.
I don't know. I had the map I watched Just as a precursor precursor, I watched the first date, this a episodes. The first day I watched, I watched basically six in one day. Yeah. I like literally right. When it dropped, watched Eight Episodes, almost all in a row. So a couple breaks. But I do love this season. I think this is gonna be crazy, say better than succession. I love this. Okay. I think. Yes, you are right. The first I would say, four episodes. The first two, Suppose I thought
were good show that. All right get sugar in the mix here car me sister and go a little deeper here on the bear back to a restaurant, the bear, and compared to season one where it's just frantic, it's anxious, it's intense here, it's like much more slow down getting deeper into these relationships, into these people, their backgrounds and unfortunately because of that, we see less car me, we see less Evan Moss, Eva moss moss cousin and we see less of each individual.
But then sometimes If they get their own episode hint hint for you doctor, I didn't see a sewed. 7i I made a mistake, I walked. Okay, warning, that was also phenomenal and unreal. I had been begging for cousin. I'm like, where is cousin? We need Richie. He is such a key part of that first season and that episode, I got a little emotional, right? When I was watching that and it and then had an amazing needle drop with the Taylor Swift, that's where I go. He was flying down the street.
I was like, Him. That's the feeling I was getting non-stop during the first season. I need more of that. Yeah. And like yes I think season one is better than season 2 but season 2 I think is right there because yet like season one has a like a way. I talked about that intensity and this one you can't just do the same thing. You can't just like, it's just like a movie. You don't want a sequel, that just does the same thing.
You know, you gotta develop, enhance it and I think this is what it's doing in for a television series. Even more important, you spend more time with these characters. So we got Get to know them. So she if it's this good, this actually Prestige television show and I think the first three episodes they that's kind of that the Marcus episode honeydew, mentions episode 4. I think that's the last time.
It's kind of that slower Pace, but I think episode 5 is when we really start to. All right? This is the turning point and then episode 6 is the fishes, that's the flashback episode. And then after that, the intensities back, its.. Like no Gat all gasp no brakes wherever you want to say, what's saying? It is the rest of the season is unbelievable. Loved it, loved this season will be watching again. No doubt. We'll have to add it to season
one to the annual re-watch. So, I'm even thinking that I could do like two hours on episode 6. I can do two hours on that. And like what we have heard about, Mikey like Jon Bernthal, his character, and seeing it for a full. Full episode extended episode on screen. It's it's basically honors what we thought we knew about him, and I thought I was portrayed perfectly by Jon Bernthal and the mental struggles.
Okay? The substance abuse everything that went into it in the pain that he was going through. And then also how he was such, a great sibling, right? And he wants the best for car me. All that shine through carried over from season, 1 with that, my new performance that We had with Jon Bernthal, we were begging for more, he was such a standout for me in episode 6 and Jamie Lee Curtis laying everything out there.
I could talk about all of these different performances I even want to do it on Wednesdays episode just like okay let's talk about season 2 episode 6 of the bear or we do like a Christmas special later on during the holiday season and we do a deep dive on season 2 episode 6. I don't think that's a bad idea. There's a lot to get to enough talking about the bear because we are here to talk about One of the greatest franchise / action stars that has ever lived.
In my mind, he is the greatest franchise actor that there is ever been. He has new movie coming out, debuting this week, Indiana Jones and dialed Destiny. Harrison Ford his last turn as the iconic Indiana Jones. We're having a draft. We only reserve it for the cream of the crop. And Ricky Flex before we get into the draft, I just wanted to ask you, what was your introduction? Harrison Ford's. I imagine it's going to be very similar since we grew up in the
same household. Yeah, has to be Han Solo. Yeah, it's it. Is it growing up in this house? Big Star Wars, guys. Clearly, you can see in my background just lie. And I still remember to this day, the VHS, pulling it off a new hope, putting it in. First time, washing it with her, dad and Han Solo obviously. Like I said, I Luke Skywalker was more to my taste, but you can't deny Han Solo Han Solo's. Just that guy.
He's that like personal like yes, like that's me if I can't be a Jedi that would be me, you know, Jedis like oh you have to be kind of the chosen one. You gotta have to be kind of, to be chosen, you know, special powers Godlike but like Han Solo could be anybody and like Harrison. Ford is me that's a kind of like obviously I think Harrison Ford's 90s run. Is probably the next stop where I would be more precise. Star Wars. I'm like, okay, you're thinking him as a doctor or a lawyer,
cop, whatever. All these generic things, but they turn into an action/adventure movie that's on TNT or am. See, that's the other all the time. I would say. All right. Harrison Ford. Your Han Solo and you're also the guy that I can count on to give me a great Thriller mystery action-adventure movie. Yeah, I have a lot of commonalities with you, in terms of like, I had an affinity for Luke Skywalker, because I saw Star Wars at such a young age. Age.
I feel like as I got older, I appreciate Han Solo a lot more than Luke Skywalker. And maybe it's because of what you're talking about, where it's like, it's kind of a common man mentality. He's like, like a Jedi can be kind of rope tronic, right? It's just one with the force and Harrison & Harrison, Ford as Han Solo is just as cool as can be,
right? He's Wheeling Princess Leia and he's great with a blaster, you know, and he is someone that As I Grew Older, I was like, that's the coolest action star of ever seen. And it's shocking that because we grew up, I remember watching Star Wars for the first time and I remember, we watched a 3 movie marathon of the original trilogy in our basement. I don't know if it was snowing that night, but we decided or dad was like, we're doing this, we are watching. And then we are going to
assemble. I think it was like a death star, not a Lego Death Star, but it was like an Action Figure Set from our dad's childhood that we played with. And Never having the Han Solo action figure. And that was my second favorite behind the Luke Skywalker.
Because when you're a kid, you just love like the hero, the lead, like, the guy wielding a lightsaber that draws your attention, but then you realize that the acting prowess is like, Harrison. Ford is a better actor than Mark Hamill that's just easy to say, but it's weird because we didn't really have a connection as much with Indiana Jones. I didn't see Indiana jones' kit, right? I think it might be also because our dad wasn't a huge Indiana, Jones guy. Therefore, we kind of watch Him
on our own. But when did you start watching, Indy? It's tough to say, to be honest. I remember seeing Kingdom Crystal Skull in theaters. All right, I've ever seen that opening weekend with some friends and I great time I loved it and I knew how important it was and how I needed to see it. Okay. But before I think that might have been the first Indiana Jones movie I saw from start to finish like I saw that one
before the original trilogy. I think after that, I wasn't, I still wasn't like, oh my God. Like, I love Indiana Jones. I still was just like. That was cool. Good movie. I was a young kid, I was like 2008, right? So I, I was 10. I was 10. When that came out, it's just like, how those eyes those good. Like, I had a lot of fun, but it wasn't like I'm clamoring for more like Star Wars.
I don't clamoring. You know, I'm a huge fan, I got the poster, you know, I didn't do that with Indiana Jones. And now, I recently re-watch all the Indiana Jones to prepare for the diode Destiny. And I never saw Temple Doom before. I've seen Last Crusade and in Raiders, of course, but all like, within the last five years, 56 years probably right after high school, I just never had that Affinity towards Indiana Jones. I don't know why. I guess I just always saw
Harrison Ford as Han Solo over. Yeah, I always saw him as Han Solo. Yeah. I think the cable run a Star Wars was just so much more massive than Indiana. Your brand bigger, I'd pee. Yeah. And I don't know if something was like Indiana Jones is big but it's like it's only Harrison Ford, right? That's what you really there for. You know, Star Wars is so expansive. There's so many characters that people are devoted to the fandom.
So wide and Indiana Jones, like I said before, like, like TNT was Rollin, Rollin star? For such a long time. All right, not such a long time because they got the right semi recently, but like, I remember seeing it on cable all the time and Indiana Jones, it was never on, I would catch bits and pieces of it. I mainly knew it because of Hollywood Studios and that whole act that they do where it's like
him like grabbing, right? The Magoffin, and then hit him with the rolling ball running down the hill, Alfred Molina, I just, that's what I thought of and I was like, okay, it's good enough. That's what people always talk about and people always say, A console 0 is the one that is for first of all, it's like, I don't know. It's just like, they're both fun characters, but it's just Harrison Ford. I connected with him with Han Solo, right? And I think that's a lot its
opposite for people with that. Have a, are you still older movies? All right, that grew up in the 80s, we just didn't have that. Okay, let's do this draft. How we're going to do is break you Flex. We're going to do it based on role in not movie. So when we pick a Harrison Ford roll, it is going to be Indiana Jones, and whoever as Indiana Jones cannot pick another Indiana Jones movie. You can't get like Raiders of the Lost Ark and someone gets Temple of Doom.
I don't know if you would ever pick Temple of Doom, but that's just an example. If you pick Han Solo, you get all the Han Solo Carry all the Han Solo movies. What are you cover? Your mouth? Wait, so sorry, I thought we each can only pick one but we could both pick Like a Star Wars movie. Oh, I didn't know. Oh man, that really switches up my mentality here. So like Han Solo Indiana Jones. You get one of each. You get one move.
Yeah. So like basically I'm assuming, I don't know your paste here on, but like I'm just saying, let's say you like multiple Indiana. Uh, Jones and multiple Star Wars and you think in this draft, like, oh, you want one of each of those? I think you can. I think that important and I think their movies in there that are too good. Just say oh you get all of indie or you. I get all Star Wars.
I think we if we you know, just acknowledge like somewhere to Tom Cruise Mission Impossible. We each got a mission impossible. Pick, I think here. We each get a Star Wars pick and we each can get. Indie pick. Okay. But I think it's only for those two franchises because, yeah, you could bring up like a multiple other franchises. He's been in. But I think it's those two where you get to pick one movie for each.
Totally agree with that. Okay, I'm I'm so down right because when I was doing the research here, if we were just picking that one row like someone gets Han Solo, someone gets Indiana Jones. First of all, be a great conversation to see who would take what first overall and later on it kind of thins out because a lot of the roles he has that, I love our friendship. Sighs movies.
And a lot of the ones I got was kind of grasping for straws for 8, 9 and 10, where I'm like, ha I seen this movie but I don't like this movie and I don't like what Harrison Ford's doing in this movie, but he has this long list of franchise stuff that I absolutely adore. Did you find that too? When you're doing your research? Yeah, I so before I say this, I should just I should say he's had one of if not the greatest
Hollywood run. We've ever seen in the late 70s to early 90's, early to mid 90s, like, Unbelievable. Run the relevancy. The stardom just unbelievable, and he's obviously very good-looking. He's got that Charisma. You know that tough guy look too. But yet clever, you know, and just a wise guy type like you can't knock it. You that's why he's been a leading man at all in for 20 years straight at the Peak at its peak. Right? So long.
But there are like a lot of stuff that I've seen, or haven't seen that, I don't like the stuff I've seen. I mean, I won't even like mention on this track because it's so bad or that I have seen or haven't seen, but I will never watch. This is a bunch of that stuff and that's for somebody is not like he has 100 movie credits. He has less than 40 movie credits. That's what so I think is Hit or Miss rate.
I don't know. Obviously it's a high hit rate or else he's Harrison for for god sakes but she's like, looking back in like watch it all these movies. I was like huh this isn't as good as I think the hype is the status is and I think we'll talk about that as we go on and again, like I'm not knocking it, I'm just saying it's not as good as I originally thought. Yeah. And he goes on runs, you know, sometimes he disappears for a little bit like he has late 70s early 80s.
He is the start of like Blockbuster 80s type of filmmaking and he is the most bankable star at the time and it's interesting because later on in the 80s we have the emergence of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Eager and Sylvester Stallone like like behemoths and absolutely jacked action stars and Harrison. Ford is not that, he's more like old-school Hollywood looking type of dude, and he's someone that doesn't know Jiu-Jitsu,
right? He's gonna like shock you with what with a right hand and then move on to the next guy, right? He doesn't have the stamina or the athletic ability but we just accept him for who he is. Because it's goddamn Harrison Ford. But like the reason why he was so good I think is Also, just add ons. What you're saying is that? Yes, we have Arnold Sly Stallone in the 80s and like they're obviously bodybuilders or just
massive individuals, right? And I was there before, it's kind of like us. Like I mentioned Han Solo, right? But a lot of his work like is during WWII her like the pre bodybuilding Curry lifting kind of era you know, is what you can kind of believe it and then that's the stretch. It's like, yeah, late 70s. Early 80s are Arnold and Sly Stallone duke it out. Then here comes late 80s, early 90s.
This is the second run from Harris and then the second run from Harrison Ford is more like oh he's a doctor or a lawyer or yes. But he's kicking ass and taking names but he's not jacked or anything compared to like Arnold in Terminator 2 in the early 90s he stood in jacked and he still competing with him for box office. It's crazy because you can look at Harrison Ford be okay.
Yes, he's Harrison Ford. So, therefore, he's an action star, but he also could be a After at the same time, he could be a professor at a University at the same time. Like he can do that second half that. Like, you wouldn't believe Arnold could do. Now even though he was like a like even though he's like a politician in real life, like, you didn't believe him at like the lunacy of are going to get to like Air Force. One Like You Believe The Hair stood for Q president, you know?
And then he could also sock somebody in the face. There are very few actors that can do that and you could trust them to do that but it's just the look career. Asthma everything. He brings in the presence on screen. That's it makes Harrison for
him. For, I do have one last tip before we start just to get this out of the way, cause I've been things my entire life and I things like the one problem I have with Harrison Ford in his roles is like we mentioned he's a doctor or a lawyer or professor and all these roles right. But I just never liked again.
He is a smart individual. I never see him as like, oh my God, he is a genius on screen like he is and a lot of These roles, like, I picture, like, Benedict Cumberbatch, he always plays a genius, you know, but like, in these movies, they try to sell us, like, he's like a Benedict Cumberbatch on screen half at least half the time. And I just never can believe because he looks like us and obviously looks as if he's a
very good-looking individual. But like, he doesn't look like he's a genius, he looks like oh, he's a smart guy but like down-to-earth not like they kind of perceive us to be his their perspective of it I guess. It's like like a lot of times when they're trying to sell you on the part that he is a professor, he's very limited screen time.
Inside a classroom. Yeah. When he's teaching like it's just like, okay when you just do this, say a couple lines of the girls are gonna go googoo gaga over you and then we're going to move onto grabbing them a golf it and explaining where you're going to get it and then interacting like with your father, Sean Connery, or this person that person we're gonna get to the action sequence.
Like you're going to do this amazing stunts but we first have to have that one scene and I think it can do that one scene. Just not for an extended life. Yeah, another example is In The Fugitive teasing. Get Richard Kimble. It's like his buddy, who's like talking to the cops saying like, oh, he's like, is he smarter than you is like?
He's smart. Like, he basically admits that he's smarter than me, but that guy, I believe is really smart, and then when he said that and they pant a Harrison Ford with the scene after I'm like, is he like, he's the greatest white-collar action star I've ever had? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. White collar action star. But with that being said, Rick you Flex, do you have a coin on you? So we can decide how this draft. Order is going to go dust. Gone in there. Tails, it is heads.
I'm gonna take the first pick. No, okay, make sure you're typing these down because I got a couple screens in front of me right now, okay? The first pick of the Harrison Ford top billing. I'm going Empire Strikes Back. Yeah, that was it. We just talked about how we're Star Wars guys, over Raiders guys. Seenu is gonna be a Star Wars pick.
And for me, I like, I think I like all Harrison Ford in Star Wars, a new, A New Hope, Return of the Jedi force, awakens Loki, good to, in that good ending to that that role. But Empire just has those Kind of moments. I think that they are others. That I mentioned, I guess a force with Force awakens does have but like not to the same extent, I think. But the other two definitely
not. And you can go back to never tell me the odds C-3PO, or I know I think the best one, I know lion-o's to go. I love you. Just what, uh, that guy. So like that was that was actually supposed to be, I'll be back, people forget. Imagine imagine if he said that. Like would Arnold say I'll be back later on. Probably not. But people forget, but just hon. So obviously we talked about on solo, but preference is Empire. Empire Strikes Back for Me?
Number one overall. Yeah, so if we were just going Canada, Actors. I would pick Han Solo before Indiana, Jones, and that sounds crazy because he's a supporting character in Star Wars and he's the lead. And one of the greatest action franchise is one of the most important action franchises of all time. But it had to be Han Solo. And if you're picking a movie, it's Empire, Strikes Back. See, takes the character that he helps mold in a New Hope and then accelerates and it becomes
even cockier, right? The chemistry would Princess Leia increases in that? Second film. It has the iconic moments that you're About, and even the Stills, and the images of him getting like, like frozen, right? It's just, it's all there for like the most iconic hair I would say, the most iconic, Harrison, Ford performance, and that's where people I think we're like, okay, Luke Skywalker is a way right. Potentially a little bit from Han Solo Han Solo.
Guess the kind of command the screen for a little bit and be on his own and not just be introducing like the sidekick to Luke Skywalker. Great pick now, I can save my next consult. My next Han Solo pick for as the last pick in the draft. So I'm okay with that.
There you go. Okay, so I'm going to go, I have to go Indiana Jones, the next pick, and therefore, I have to go Raiders of the Lost Ark. This is what we're talking about earlier, where it's like, okay, he's a professor, but then, he's an action star and he is, let's devilishly good-looking Professor that can kind of sell you that he is, that smart individual, right? Doesn't spend too much time doing so but has The greatest action sequences in movie history. I would say the most important
action movie of all time. All right, when it comes to especially today, where it seems like we went from like Harrison Ford doing his own stunts, right daring stunts, really breathtaking ones. And then we had the ages age of Arnold and Sly Stallone just being behemoths on screen, just beating the living crap out of everybody. And it doesn't really feel like they were ever going to like be
her or get a scratch, you know. No and then we have the CGI age, it seems like now people are embracing like the idea of John Wick. You know the idea of actually being in doing what the character is portraying on screen, right? The effort and lengths to do. So I'm gonna go Indiana Jones. It had to be set, it had to be if not the first pick the second pick, Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Yeah, some people would probably say, even if they're, they lean Star Wars, they might say, oh well, What movie or franchises he'd lead in and they might take Raiders. And if you say that, okay, fine, but I think just the background, we gave the context, it's Han Solo. I totally agree. And I think rate all your points, and I think one thing that makes Raiders. So iconic, one of the best action adventure movies of all time is looking back on it now. Like, for me, I washed it late.
So, I've seen a lot of action adventure movies before I saw Raiders. But then you look at the timestamp. So when they came out the release here and this Was 81 this kind of like, set the tone set, the like the formula, you know, the plot points as you go through an action-adventure movie, this kind of like Spielberg and George Lucas like they kind of just, they kind of set the precedent. This is how you set up an act, a great action/adventure movie. And I think that has a lot of
weight to it as well. So, not only a great performance, great movie and also just setting kind of just the formula for action adventure for what would be the A decade of the Blockbuster movie. I'm gonna tease a pick and I'm just going to talk about how Harrison Ford went on the greatest, three movie, three-year movie, run of all time. Go ahead on it. That you could say Empire Strikes Back In. 1980, you can go 1981, Raiders of the Lost Ark.
The 1982 Blade Runner. That is an insane run for Action /, sci-fi films. No one will outdo it. No one. Yeah, I don't think you have to do it because I've just How big those are, especially the era of, like, movie theaters were at their Peak.
Then, you know, and if you want to go just based off of, like, great movies, not maybe not as much screen time, then just add Apocalypse. Now, the year before 79 and minimal screen time, very minimal but then the year after Return of the Jedi, the Star Wars. Yeah. But like the year after blade runner's, Return of the Jedi and then the year after and then we just keeps going really. So you're right. Right. Unbelievable screen, run screen, movie run, what's your next pick?
I'm gonna go. I'm just going to keep on. I'm gonna go Rick Deckard as the third overall pick. This is where like, you're going to a different franchise. Now, once again, the greatest franchise movie star there has ever been, we just listed three, insane, it's saved, franchises and sci-fi and action, but Deckard, it's kind of like more. It's a little more grumpy than he is like with Han Solo.
Someone who is like, kind of against the world hates the world that he lives in, but nice to see the relationship with Sean Young like throughout Blade Runner. It's obviously one of the most iconic films of all time and Harrison Ford. I rather like weirdly and ironically hated making this movie, despite it being one of his most recognizable characters regularly was butting heads with a Ridley Scott and he actually A better time filming Blade, Runner 2049 with Denis Villeneuve, right?
Him returning in the legacy sequel to Blade Runner, which I find pretty interesting. But him as a cop, once again, this is like also the white collar action star him going from Professor that he's going to like Han Solo this Gunslinger and then we go, what we got in Blade Runner. So that's my pick. What do you think, Deckard? So Blade Runner. All right, this is a good way. I re-watched today, okay, and slow at times, obviously 1982.
The visuals will not be, they'll be outdated, but at the time there, that was very big for this movie. That's probably like the big selling point was this movie like, obviously, Harrison Ford, but also the visuals. And I think that plays a fat and effect, but for me, this Arison for where he's drinking whiskey, he's a cop, huh? The best. He's going to retire but he needs to come out of retirement. Basically, the catch these replicants pure action. This is the Harrison Ford.
I know is my favorite where it's like, he's not like a doctor trying to. So again, my like perception trying to sell us to be a doctor and then he's on the run, something like that, this is more. Yes, he's a cop going for win, that's my favorite type of Harrison Ford movie, and that's why I love played Runner and our this performance of him in Blade Runner and I was bouncing around. Was this my third on my board or fourth? I couldn't decide so, I did like
a with the other movie. I've got to pick next. A 3/4 to both the movies cause I couldn't decide which I wanted, I think I'd probably lean this one for to me, but more because of the movie. Not because the performance even though it's a 1982 sci-fi, like space film, I do think it is, it has aged well, and I really enjoy returning to this movie, especially the director's cut. And I agree with you. This is like a character where it's like Harrison Ford.
I just feel like this is how he is based on the Press tours that he does and the interviews. He does a little grumpy, sometimes. It doesn't want to be there and he makes it absolutely no, no. He doesn't want to be there. He doesn't want to answer questions about bunch of nerdy stuff because he's not as invested into the world. Despite him being an actual actor in it, you know, and that type of tone and that type of attitude. He brings to the Rick Deckard role.
So I think it falls in line, Perfectly and therefore, I get him for Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049. Correct. Yeah. Yeah we're sure we could do that. Yeah, that's fine. Yeah. Just carry over the same character that being said. We're on to your second round. Pick fourth overall, what do you got? Okay. I'm going The Fugitive Richard Kimble. All right, great throw this movie, I Revisited two nights
ago. Wow, I I've seen this so many times so many cat, thank times on cable, but just, I've always loved it, but it's like, I've seen this so many times, but when I finally extra sat down to watch this again, I was just, wow, I forgot how much I loved it. And yes, Tommy Lee Jones was fantastic again in it and his
One liners should go up there. If we ever had a top billing of like best actors performances, like one-liners or something like that, this would be in it. Tommy Lee, unbelievably Jones, unbelievable it deserved the Oscar. Shocking. The Harrison Ford didn't get nominated a little big, but Tommy Lee Jones only got nominated, but one but also reason I bring that up to is because I love them on the screen together, that was great. And overall, this is just a great thrower.
Awesome through her good twists the endings a little prolonged, but overall great movie. I love. Revisiting it, Richard Kimble. Great name. My second pick. Yeah. So what are the Best cat and mouse movies of all time. And I think like Tommy Lee Jones just by his leg, how bunk bastok he is. And how like loud he is, and how hard he's going in for this movie. He kind of like when he's on-screen, right?
He commands it, but a lot of times he's not on screen with Richard Kimble. So, the Harrison Ford has room to operate. And this is a interesting Harrison Ford performance, because that's despite this huge Ackman action sequence. That happens at the end, it's more brains than brawn. You know, from a Harrison Ford character and he has to outdo. Lout smart, be one. Step ahead. Two steps ahead in order to be
successful. And once again, him as a doctor, it's just like, okay, we keep up with the white collar action thriller. This is an amazing movie. I re-watched this so many times on cable as a kid, you know, and The Fugitive I had it as my number four, so a good straight line, we're in the same boat there, but I think it's time to move on to the third round. Fifth pick Feed Us. All right, I'm going to do those strategy here. I'm going to go my number 6 instead of five.
I'm gonna take a risk here thinking that you might not see my number 5, but I know you've seen my number six, and you would pick it next at least next. If not, the I wouldn't come back to me. That's President James Marshall Air Force One. This movie isn't the greatest, it's not tight. But he's a good president. Is he all time? Best president. I would say Michael Douglas's up there. The American President Bill Pullman independence day, but Harrison Ford be right there.
I think you'll be right there and this movie, again, revisiting this a few days ago. Again, I do love this movie. It's absurd. Yes, is absurd. But this is just the all-time like yes, even in politics. He's a good guy, you just wants peace. But at the end of the day, get his things need to get down and dirty. President James Marshall Harrison, Ford is ready to get after it against go head-to-head with Gary Oldman and not his most iconic line.
But top three iconic lines, get off my plane. Like cannot beat that amazing delivery Air Force One, my third pick I'm going to be plugging get off my plane right here. Get off my plane. Right. Meet like up there with the some of the best Hans Solo line some of this Indiana Jones lines. It's like that. I think it's lasted that long in the culture. It's been that present. This is somewhat, this is my number 6, so we're not directly in line here.
This is one that felt like it was coming off of. This is the second run from Harrison Ford late 80s through the 90s where it kind of felt like a lot of movies are being greenlit. That weren't grounded and like Harrison Ford. He has the common man feel, but this is one that felt like, it was little, like little loose. It felt like there was some lunacy going on the president kicking like, terrorists ass. I'm just like, yeah, America.
Yeah. But the same time, it's like, dude, it's Harrison Ford. Like that's a president kicking ass. Like, I just felt like, it was very much like, during that Arnold stage, you know, and it felt like that's what was selling tickets at the time. And I can't hate the pick, because it's also one of the most patriotic He's of all time, all right? And it's definitely one of the best movie precedents that we've ever had. I agree with your point there.
I just had a one slot ahead. I think, I know where you're going with your six-pack, but you want to add anything else to Frank Marshall No, I think I'm more interested in what you're going to do here next, because if I took this gamble, if I took this Gambler, doesn't come back to me. I won't be mad. But, you know, it just be like, all right, maybe not do that next time. But yeah, no, no, it's you, it's you, oh, did you double up? Yeah, I did The Fugitive Air Force One.
Okay. All right, I'm going to jack ride. You know, this is I know what you're going to pick. I haven't seen the movie right. I know, I know. You're leaving. This is like the franchise that he Harrison Ford as a part of
that doesn't get a ton of love. I think it's for a couple reasons, one because he wasn't the first Jack Ryan, right Hunt for Red October Alec Baldwin. He is the it's not really a sequel to that it's more of like almost like James Bond Anthology different guy playing the character but the people that have come after him like Harrison Ford holds so much more weight. I would say he is recognized as the Jack Ryan, despite him not being in the best movie, I
agree. Yes. Like, Alec Baldwin amazing Hunt for Red October, the best Jack Ryan movie. And then I'm obviously getting to movies here at Patriot Games and clear and present danger, then after that Ben Affleck takes over in the early 2000s, not a great movie does, okay? And then you have Shadow Recruit with Chris Pine very forgettable, the John Krasinski. And it's kind of wish. It wasn't a TV show.
I feel like Jack Ryan is a big enough character that deserves the big screen treatment Harrison Ford, not the first, but probably the most recognizable, Jack Ryan. This goes into like different spheres CIA operative. It doesn't feel like he's doing a ton of acting in these movies. Honestly, it feels like he's just not going through the motions, but it's just felt like we seen this before. He's really not, he's not the wheels, not changed in here.
We're just Just like playing the hits a little bit but it's like when you need a franchise action star there's no one better. Then a Harrison Ford's. That's why I'm going to take it with my third round, her cold like exactly what you just said there felt to me like this was the start of a new Harrison Ford. I don't want to tease other pics
here. But right, when the 90s came, he truly put on a shirt and tie and every single movie throughout like you for the rest of his time was like going to be in a shirt and tie and this On the start of it and he was kind of going through the motions Patriot Games. I'll say this, don't like the movie Revisited last week. Don't like it. Whoa, whoa. I watched a little bit last night. I slept a little bit and I'm a Big Sean Bean fan.
I felt bad because like there was just that he was forcing it. Like this are not he the movie was really forced in that and then his ending was just so lame that and they know that movie was so bad, I was like oh my God, Patriot Games. Probably not in my top 15. Harrison forth. Wow, a clear and present danger, it's good. Yes, good movie, but not great. I still don't think it's great. I think it's good, won't to foes great in that people forget and you're right. Jack Ryan is Harrison Ford.
That is Harrison like that is Harrison. Ford is Jack Ryan. All right, it's funny though because he was offered to be Jack Ryan and hunt for the Red October, right? And yeah obviously I'll fall when ended. Having to take it once Harris board rejected it, which is kind of funny, but again, out ball when I think it was good in that still, Sean Connery.
So Sean Connery, right? I do want to say Patriot Games, it's a weird CIA operative movie because it's more about his family than it is about him being a CIA operative, you know. And in that case, I'm just like, I'm not really looking for that because it Hunt for Red October. It's like it's give me a mission. Give me something that's happy to give me a historical time period. Yeah, then we go, like, don't say, oh, like it's a terrorist.
I happen to run into a terrorist and now he's tracking down my family. He's coming from Ireland. All the way to the United States, just to track down his family. It's a little far-fetched. I think it's a little bit, excessive, you could do something so much more interesting with Jack Ryan character. I get it. People love the book and everything, but I don't know if it was the best that was going to translate to the big screen, right? That's right.
Clear and present, danger. I like it more. Yeah. And is it crazy to say? I think I'd rather watch the Ben Affleck one again now, over Patriot game sum of all fears. Yeah, I rather watch that the Patriot game. Basic title sum of all fears amazing. It was clear and present danger, like yes also great titles and Jack Ryan. Again with this simple, like, great names, great name obviously a book but like great names. He boys plays a good names. Let's just do it.
Let's just rattle us once we pick so far. Rick Deckard. It is a mark on solo. He's Richard Kimble zzzzz, boring, but his Doctor. But like John oh not saying it won't do it. We get the point though, right? Just he's the holder of the greatest titles right or names in action movie. He plays simple roles like a doctor lawyer cop, and he also has simple names, Jack Ryan still won't beat snake, Snake Plissken from escaping New York though.
Okay, next my fourth round pick This is interesting. I'm not going to pick the movie, you want, because I haven't seen the whole the entire thing and if I have it was when I was younger this is where my list gets a little thin and I want to take actually my Star Wars pick now because it looks better on the board. I can't have like a minor role where I thought he really killed it or they can early career performance from Harrison Ford. I don't think it belongs as a
fourth-round pick. That's why we go with a new hope with Han Solo. You could say, since this, I'm going to talk about other Han Solo performances, some people really like him in episode 7, okay? Going back to the Nostalgia and older older Han Solo it, just, I don't know. It just felt like he spent so much time away from the character is hard to capture reimagine. What he did with the original trilogy. In this one he explodes on screen. You kind of don't anticipate,
right? You think you're going on his journey? With this old man, these robots and the chosen one like this Messiah type of figure and then, boom, you go to the canteen and introduced to this do with a black vest spinning, a gun, right?
And someone who is constantly in trouble, this is like a like this is where you knew he was to be a fun role, a fun character that we're going to want to go on a ride with we didn't have that fun character yet in Star Wars when you go through, like, beginning of episode 4 to The Cantina when you ran into this, dude, who is kicking back wheeled in the gun talking talking shit to all these different aliens and talking about money that he owes them, you know, this is going to be
someone, you want to return to and you want to spend more time with Episode 5 was the greater Han Solo performance but episode 4 introduced us to what would be arguably the greatest sci-fi character or most loved sci-fi character of all time. This. You said it fun. Again, kicks his feet up like a table with grito. Like I was just this is him dress him and Luke when they go to the Death Star, a storm troopers. He's at the, the intercom. Like look, look, it's just and
then, like they're inside. It's just, it's just a great action-adventure movie. It's not as good as Empire and the performance is not as good, but it matches the movie. Well, similar to his performance in Empire, which is overall
better matches Empire better. So, again, if, for me, like, if I do like a big board, Harrison Ford obviously, I've Empire one, but if I had to put a New Hope in there, like I would probably have it at five on my big board because like I love it that much in episode 5 has much more electric characters, right? Like Lando Calrissian gets introduced, Darth Vader is like so much more of a Residents in is shoots at Darth Vader in it and episode for you looked up and down the roster.
The most electric characters Han Solo by the light years literally. Light-years right episode 5. Also you get Yoda introduced. Like there's all these different people that are being introduced Han Solo's still like is the one that is as I said before the most electrifying but you needed him on the roster for a new hope to give a little oomph to that movie, right? And yeah, that's why it's going to be my pick. Right. Your fourth round pick. Okay, I have a problem.
There's three movies I really want. Okay. Obviously, I only have two picks left and I still could pick an Indiana Jones movie so it's I have a lot of options here. Are you gonna leave Indie off your boyfriend. I am honestly thinking about leaving Last Crusade, a, I would pick Last Crusade for the record. You ready, pictures? I could say it, it'll be last. Crusade. I'm thinking about leaving it off the board.
Okay. Yes Sean, Connery's isn't in it for the first hour but you know what, it's Sean Connery and he kind of he doesn't take over, but he's just such a presence and that's kind of the last of the Sean Connery. Like it's still like a presence in Hollywood. This was kind of that and until there's a mutual respect between those two in that movie to where it's like to action movie. Alphas, you know, yes, exacting. The screen is felt special and and River Phoenix, that opening scene re-watch.
That last weekend was awesome. I totally forgot about that. I think I always catch Last Crusade, like, after that. Like, it's arguably the best, like, like sequence in the movie. Yeah. So, you know, yeah. You know what? I don't think. I'm Gonna Take Out Last Crusade here. I'm not going to pick it. Wow. And that leaves three. I already have my Star Wars pick, so I'll start out here. Let me just say, Crap. Okay.
You know I'll do it. I'll pick the the affair movie that I think is better than Fatal Attraction and that's Presumed. Innocent 1990. I really do like this movie plays a lawyer cheats on his wife then gets accused of murder. This will be Brian, Dennehy is really good in this really good
in this 80 staple love here. And there's blood, Bonnie Bedelia, the wife and die hard to Bruce Willis is Also the wife here to Harrison Ford, she's great in this, this is just a great mystery through I won't I'll Loosely say thrower but great mystery and also the kind of that lawyer courtroom drama that I always I always talk about and how much I love those. This is also in that realm I really like Presumed Innocent Yeah yeah yeah. Is it a box office?
Smash by the way closed the direction what year 1990 animated close to 300 million dollars in the u.s.? Wow. Like that is so much money for just like I don't know just like a like I don't know just not superhero moving on action movie like it's not an adventure movie. That's really impressive. Especially coming off the year after Last Crusade. So I'm picking Presumed Innocent, I love this pic.
I don't know if I don't know. I've ever caught any parts of this movie, but I was going to talk about when we get into the later pics here, it's always fascinating. When Harrison Ford doesn't do an action movie, I feel like I have to watch it because he is that powerful of an actor and people always say Harrison Ford. He has never been nominated for an Oscar never won an Oscar, right?
Well, it kind of makes sense. When you look at his filmography and all the action movies that he's done, but like when you see him like Flex Flex, the acting chops and do more. Than have the one sock in the face or say the one line, you know, it just feels like he has that potential based on these type of films that he's done. I like this pick. It's a streaming anywhere. This is actually one movie. I didn't re-watch. I'll look it up real quick.
This seems like a movie. We watched with our dad, like our dad will just flip it on. Just like Harrison Ford non action movie but still just Harrison Ford. So it's Watch that important of an actor, it does seem like that. And it's not streaming anywhere it's YouTube. But that's kind of disappointing. But yeah, II really do like that movie. Good twist. Mystery thriller. Good, twist, suspenseful. I do recommend if you do get a chance to watch that if you
haven't seen it, okay. I'm not going to pick Last Crusade confirmed but I also dice kind of Bashan it. I do kind of want to also just say it got kind of like obviously I mentioned this podcast how Temple of Doom watching that the other week not good movie.
In my opinion this was this was a good like back to True Indiana Jones movie of a fun action adventure and I think the father-son story helped with that as well, that lightheartedness need to be brought back after Temple of Doom. So I will not be picking that last Skate 1989, last we said, but I do like it. I just want that on the record. I like a lot as well. I'd like, damn, I'm shocked. You're not picking it, but like I kind of get it. It's like you have these other.
You can go deeper in your bag here and I think it kind of be a flex. If you we chose to leave it off the board, you know? And I think it's like to me but some people like Last Crusade and more than Raiders of the Lost Ark. I think most people reasons I think that that is not so like I think there is a clear bar that is set in Raiders of the Lost Ark that every action movie has been trying to achieve since then. Then right? It's like the blueprint like you
were talking about earlier. Last Crusade was like that's a great way to end a Trilogy though. You know, that did those kind of have that was perfect. It was very good. So that leaves me down to my the two that I want. I know you, I know you haven't seen one of them, but the one that you probably have seen is definitely a more recognizable pick and a lot of people have seen it. But I got to stay true to myself. I just watched this deal the week and for the first time and I loved it.
I loved it. And it's frantic frantic 1988. I don't understand. Like I like I do understand why people don't talk about its Roman Polanski movie, and that's kind of been hushed hushed around recently. No one ever wants to talk about Roman Polanski for obvious reasons, but this movie rocks. It is so good. And just in case you, I forget which episode of was that I talked about this, but this is Streaming anywhere.
I had to look it up. I won't say this out loud but you can probably guess what it is. You just Google Predator streaming, but Harrison Ford plan. A doctor, of course, goes to Paris with his wife and he takes a shower and all of a sudden is wise, answer, the phone call. Then she leaves the room and she's gone. And he has to look around Paris, know some French, but not a lot. It's try to find his wife. Was she abducted? Did she leave what happened?
And he has to go through the like authorities and he meets people on the way. It's a great like fun mystery thriller. Such very suspenseful, I think the third Act is kind of chaotic at times but Polanski does wrap it up. Well, you can't knock him, he's a good filmmaker and overall just I think In a couple months, if we did this draft, I wouldn't put it on.
This will be just outside my top 10 over this differently, I didn't pick, but overall, I have to give this movie some acknowledgement and say, I highly recommend this movie so much fun, and I honestly true truly a good movie. So frantic my final pick. Yeah, I haven't seen it. It makes me seem like I don't like Harrison Ford, but I don't go deeper in the bag like you did. I did, I was trying to say John streaming this week.
Like for other Harrison, Ford movies that were non franchised because it seems like Harrison, Ford is always available to watch somewhere, right? Star Wars. Indiana Jones, write all these franchises, but when it comes to like, hey, I want to see like the chops from Harrison Ford. Those are much much harder to find to good wreck, right? It's a good shout last. Two picks.
His like, getting your bag, getting your hair's Harrison, Ford back whenever these are on streaming or go deeper into your Airbag and you look at some websites. A tricky, flexes sketchily hopping on. Yeah, be careful. And his name in this dr. Richard Walker. So again the name so white good pick. Let's go to mr. Relevant. So I was saying about going, like his introduction on the big screen.
First time, he had a relationship with a George Lucas, and I was debating on American Graffiti which I think I watched in school. Actually, great, Coming of Age movie for more like that coming of age. But more like high school to adulthood type of film or I was looking at working girl, is something that I we it was on our TV. A lot we were going up but the thing about working girl it's not a great Harrison. Ford performance is a great melon Griffith performance.
He's not the best part about that movie. It's great to see him and almost like an 80s, rom-com, special type of thing going on. And I was like I said, I like to see him doing different stuff than the action. I think I'm going to go American Graffiti as Bob falfa him with the southern accent, the Hat, not in a ton of the film, but definitely has his presence know when he's there, a couple great car racing sequences you see. See what would become of Harrison Ford from American Graffiti?
You could tell like he was like if kind of fit like, oh, when you're looking at cast Han Solo, you want this Brash cocky dude? Really born from American Graffiti. Yeah, so I'm going to do that as I think it's a good mr. Irrelevant because that was the first time people really saw Harrison Ford in a memorable way and took a wide range of audience. So what do you think reflex, you see in American Graffiti? I think I'm the podcast of movies were embarrassed. We've never seen.
I did this as an honorable mention never seen American Graffiti. So it's interesting that you've never seen it Ricky Flex because of what came after American Graffiti and that's Happy Days. And like obviously American Graffiti Ron Howard movie introduced us to Ron Howard and also Richard Dreyfuss a movie that so heavily influence. Happy Days in. Happy Days is on in our father's house all the time. He loves You happiness.
I would say. It's as its top five for him, favorite shows of all time and he loves all the old-time type of shows, right? We talked about 60 70s, mainly 60s and 70s. You loves those reruns. This is it. They even have the one o'clock. Two o'clock, three o'clock, right in the beginning of the movie. It's just like it's you could tell, like, happy days would not have been as much of a smash without American Graffiti in the Ron Howard performance, cool
movie. It's kind of amazing what those care, the actors that it introduces. Like like George Lucas. It's like as a director splashes into the scene he works with Coppola on this film and this is like a collaboration don't think of natural George Lucas you're like oh Star Wars, lucasfilm, Indiana Jones, but hear all sides of the said before those three actors Harrison Ford Richard Dreyfuss and Ron Howard and what those three would end
up doing in their career. So it's kind of a magical movie to watch and to see, like, where they started and where they went. So, yeah, I think it's okay, mr. Relevant They lose our 10 picks for the Harrison Ford draft. Ricky Flex, let's read through the draft. If you didn't write that my pics, I have my pics. Did you write down all of them? I did, I did.
So I'm going to have you give a rundown of the selection to go to the draft board, little summary, and then we'll go through some honorable mentions if we have any. All right, so I have my board, my team consoelo Empire, Strikes Back. The Fugitive Air Force, One Presumed Innocent frantic Doctorow. You have Raiders of the Lost Ark. Rick Deckard. Jack Ryan A New Hope. American Graffiti. Yes. Okay, I correct. Yes, check. All right. I mentioned working girls, potential. Movie.
You talked about Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Tempo do being left off here. No one goes Return of the Jedi, no one goes Force awakens. Did you have anything else? Ricky Flex? Maybe something a little more modern that we can look at is potentially making the list. If you are more modern, I do like the force awakens performance. Yeah, I've mentioned that, but to be honest, Harrison Ford post, like, 21st century is not
very good. It's tough to watch him in the Legacy sequels, like doing the action stunts, that made him such a star and it just seems like he's really lumbering around out there. It's yeah, it makes me lose some of the magic right of what Harrison Ford was. And it's like, man, we really just are On the name but you're right. 21st century, I was looking at the filmography like it seems like people when he was cast as Branch.
Rickey. That's why people like, oh, Oscar like, is that what we're looking? Yeah. Yeah. Like this movie, but like he really hams it up and 42 the whole movies really corny, right? He really leans into right that just the feel-good of it all. I think in that film he wears all the Prosthetics the makeup, he has the cigar the Glasses to look. It's all there. It's like, man if we really made this less of a Family Fare type of film.
I think we could have been looking at a better more, serious performance as Branch Rickey, but that seemed like one that way had potential. Yeah, I completely agree. Other movies, I've seen, like, 21st century besides 42, like I've seen because our house. Our dad is tasting. Movies Hollywood Homicide, Josh, Hartnett What Cowboys and Aliens? No, no, no. Because I will say I don't hate it. I don't like it. I don't like it at all, but I don't absolutely hate it. Like, I think everyone else
does. But yeah, that's kind of modern era like post Air Force. One is really like kind of a struggle for him. I think shrinking this past year that Apple TV plus years of Jason Segel and I watched like he was great in that perfect grumpy old man like it's perfect for him and this does have to move at all. Tall is a site is a psych psychiatrist perfect role but besides that like and Bliss like 1923 also a series like it seems like how American. Yeah.
I think he's steering away from like the Legacy type of characters, right? That's really. The only thing we see in theater from Harrison, Ford anymore. Like it's kind of hard for him to try and pull off something new on the big screen, because he is so connected to these characters. And there's an expectation that set when he's on-screen, and if he can't deliver, Her TV is the different is the best fair to go for him. So I I couldn't understand why he made that decision.
There's except we are getting him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I think that's a little more of a protected role for him and something that he is very much capable of and doesn't to carry the movie on his own. So I'm not shocked that he's doing the MCU thing but it's just kind of weird because he seems so apathetic to fandom and he's going to like the most die-hard fans alongside Star Wars fans that there could be Yeah. And again Thunderbolt Ross, most likely will be will be
president. Again, he will be a president again but also we might be the Red Hulk with so I don't know how that's going to work. He's 80 years old will be 81, it's going to be interesting. The other one on my list that I was really debating on picking and I think people that have seen a lot of Harrison. Ford go deep in the bag would be like, how is this not on the list? His only Oscar nominated movie is not on the list. East. And it's not that.
I don't like it, it's just I don't know witness 1985 now, trying to watch that before. Like I like, once again, some of these Harrison Ford roles, they really blend in together, you know, like the ones that like, aren't the action ones, it feels like playing the same guy and most of the movies, but go ahead. Sorry. I interrupted I rewatch this recently on Hulu or something like that and it's a good movie. It's the type of Harrison Ford. Like I was taught about Blade Runner.
It's like That and here where she's just a good cop and he's not afraid to get his hands dirty in the first part of this movie. I really like and the Streets of Philadelphia. I really like it a lot and then he goes to the Amish community and it's not bad. It's just I don't know. A little like you're saying with the feel good with Branch Rickey, his performers wasn't like that, but I don't know. It's just like the Amish community was fine. It's just for me.
It wasn't like that me to watch this. My eyes are glued to the screen. Ricky Amish don't really move the needle. They don't like obviously the biggest moment when I was like Viggo Mortensen was in the movie and I was like, oh my God. And he had a quick line. I was like, oh my God, he go, what's up? And then the blonde bad guy in. Die Hard is like the love interest of Keli. Mcginness Keli mcginness, also, because he knows he goes pre Top Gun. The love interest for Harrison Ford here.
Just like I was like, oh, I recognize and Danny Glover donít like awesome in this but very limited. Is he part of the Amish community in the movie? No. I really like what re-watch this movie? I was like damn and guess what his name is besides. Jack Ryan probably his best name on the resume jeonbuk, like imagine the like welcome. Like John welcome, a book, you know what to do? But like I wanted that First Act of the movie to be the entire
movie. You know, Peter weird movies and I love Peter. Weir Truman Show. But like, I don't know if this movie just doesn't move the needle for me, come on, yeah, like awesome Direction but this movie doesn't move the needle for me. That's why I picked frantic over the iBooks. I picked Presumed Innocent. I picked those two over the movies nominated for an Oscar for I tried to watch witness.
I went on Amazon When I'm Prime and it was locked, it was under, I think Showtime so I couldn't watch it, but I wanted to watch that one like you said before it because of like the oscar-nomination, like I can't believe. Like I cannot talk about this movie, but we do the Harrison Ford draft, but I'll give a crap. Like Harrison Ford is not like he's not, I not an Oscar guy,
you know? And it's just people have like, we are saying before people have that conversation like how is Harrison, Ford never won an Oscar because you really never position himself to win an Oscar.
That's why he never Got an Oscar and even if like those action movies came out in this day and age here's less of a chance like to be nominated for an Oscar. He just wasn't meant to be, he cashed in. He's the most bankable action star alongside the likes of Schwarzenegger and Stallone that we've ever seen and the best franchise actor of all time what doesn't win? Oscars franchises. Yeah, is that like Tom Cruise wear? Like I'd like a Tom Cruise truth or and I'm like holy crap.
If you just wants to try to win an Oscar he will get Made it next year. Like here's a fork into losses, like Way Boulder with the movies, he did, especially, during that time period of the 90s. Like it's just he, you could tell like he is not the man that we see today. It's weird because usually start off as an action star. Hopefully it gives you more opportunities. Tom Cruise is in an anomaly. Yeah, anomaly. But like yeah, exactly.
But another thing I was thinking about just looking at our list I literally besides Han Solo have him a shirt and tie action thriller Harrison Ford and you have the exact opposite, you have like either the IP or the like, oh, a young guy, like, Raiders Rick Deckard, you have on solo, American Graffiti, and then you have like blade. Sorry, I'm Jack Ryan, but like I piece though, so, it's just funny how our lives are literally the opposite versus me. I have like dr. Richard Kimble.
President James, Marshall a lawyer, another doctor. A basic know what the one could do that. Better that like if you need that white collar Action Hero, there's no one better than Harris. Nobody like and cuz he's done, he's not as frickin bulked up on steroids. So he is a dude that will beat you up. He's cool. And then also, you could teach again class of 22 year, olds about, right? Like the Holy Grail, like I don't like you can just do it all.
It's just like, literally like he's just versatile in that sense and an action hero, that it's really hard to replicate nowadays. Okay, that's our draft Harrison Ford last turn is Indiana Jones style Destiny coming out this weekend that will be our review on Monday. Make sure stay tapped in. How do you say tapped in first off?
