Twenty twenty five NFL Draft process, we welcome the duo from one oh five to three the fans, Zach Walchuk, Bobby Belt. Glad you guys are back on the Draft Show and back with us again today. Enjoyed the snow day a little bit, but it just delayed the fact that I got.

Yeah, my my one game suspension for Day three of the draft uh in April is over.

I'm back.

I had a lot of time to think about what I did, and now I'm hearing him ready to go.

There's a lot of self reflection.

Yeah, I'm glad that you realized scouting baby in your ways. Man, I'm fired up and I'm excited to uh to be here with Voch dude. I mean, we got to do a little bit of stuff on YouTube last year. You you welcomed me on the show. I've enjoyed a lot of your content, and I think we got a great crew. I mean, Tommy, I was watching the first episode. Uh, Nick, we know is fantastic. I'm shocked at Brian's not on time today to make fun of Oh he's running in.

He's running in. We weren't talking about him.

Yeah, so Jalen Walker the thing about he's not a linebacker.

He's an 's an edge. We converted him already.

That didn't take long, No, it didn't. No, but it's good to have you guys back. Bobby's going to get another one game suspense engine for just mentioning it. You're not going to be here tomorrow, but it'll be back on Thursday.

I saw somebody on Twitter called Nick Harris, the young Dane Brugler and I think I tend to agree there, but we're not going to talk good about Nick while he's off.

I just saw Nicholas. I just came from Plano. I'm gonna see him right after we're getting with this, so we go, Yeah, what are you doing out there hanging out with draft prospects, guys who are training to get ready.

How they looking so far?

It looks like they're doing a lot of stretching and a lot of lunges and stuff. Right now. It's really in the process.

Not too deep into the detail.

No, yeah, yeah, yeah, we're not. We're not doing a bunch of you know, speed turns or anything else. We're just we're lungeing. We're trying to get those muscles activated.

Love it.

That's what Vauch did on his way in today, just to be ready for the draft show.

I promise I was lunging, but it wasn't football stove. Oh okay, just a little boxing stuff but no.

So lots to talk about.

Of course, with the draft being now one hundred and one day away. Brian and we mentioned this in the last episode. I thought by now we would have a little clarification as to the future road for this football team as their head coach goes, as their entire coaching staff go. Don't have any clarification, but what is the scouting department doing right now, one hundred days out, looking ahead and trying to piece things together as we get closer and closer to these All Star games.

Yeah, you have what you're looking at right now, as you've mentioned, you getting ready for these All Star games. But they're also involved in some cross check stuff and maybe there's some guys, some juniors that declare that you haven't seen. You know, you're trying to kind of organize that,

And with all that cross checking and all of the information that's flowing in, it's only going to continue to get more and more abundant as the days go on.

You brought up offensive line.

I think there are a lot of Cowboys fans that are still out there despite what they saw down the stretch, which was positive direction for guys like TJ.

Bass and Brock k Hoffman.

And what this offensive line looked like earlier in the year probably not as fruitful as it was later in the year. But where should that conversation begin at offensive line? What does this class look like? Where should the Cowboys begin talking about taking another offensive line lineman very high because they've had some success doing so in the past.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, right, the first thing that we.

Admitted, you're terrified.

I'm not terrified.

No, No, that's terrified.

That's fair, But right, we are.

Terrified because you're gonna tell me right now that this line isn't as good as you've seen the last three years, and you're an offensive line guy.

That is correct. Let me tell you why, though, Bran. First, we have to figure out why are teams with worse dudes than us able to block better than us? I think that's the first question we have to figure out. Hey, what's going on here?

Something with you today?

Come on, man?

Do we have to change how we do things scheme wise? Do we need somebody to coordinate something different? How can this guy that I never even I've never heard his sixth round pick playing, and he's like one of the best guards in football, and I just didn't know it just snuck up on us as opposed to a guy like Tyler Smith.

This is one of his down years, I will.

Say, but he's normally beating at a lot of people Tyler's But why is he down this year? Why was Terrence Steel once great but down this year? We need to answer questions like that. So once we get that figured out, then I'm gonna tell you why I'm so worried about offensive line. Then I'm gonna tell you why I want to add as many great offensive linemen to this thing as I possible. And I know Cowboy fans don't want to hear that right now. They want to hear running

Out though they didn't want to hear Michigan defensive tackle.

Now the don't want to hit none of this Brian. They want to receiver.

But but yeah, we have to figure out, you know, Okay, do we have to get better there or is this something that we can live with? Brock Hobbin is a fantastic example, and we may all disagree about how good we think Brock is. Some people think we can get a little better, some people think, oh, we can live with him, and we both may be right. We just got to figure out what side of the coin that's on. I think he's as good as a backup guard as

They leave no stone unturned.

So if I can get better than brock or I know he's a you know, riogy left tackling all that, but we can get better than him or better than Terrence. I'm opening to listening how we can get better, especially especially if you got questions about four and if you got a questions about your running.

Back and questions about your left tackle that you drafted last year in the first round as well.

And when has this team been as close that we've seen them to maybe achieving an NFC Championship game appearance, if not a Super Bowl. It's win the offensive line and they've got a good running back, right, it's both of them. It's both of them together. I know a lot of people are going to argue, hey, the line will make the runner. Right With this team, it seemed to be a combination of the two. They had a dominant line in twenty fourteen. They had an elite back

They had an elite back in EMMITTT. Smith. So you know, let's go ahead and not just oh my.

God, we're gonna kick out the running back, because it's all about the line both together. That's really what in the history that Dallas Cowboys has made them.

Spec Okay, if I can't get him to say this, are you terrified of these offensive lineman?

Absolutely, I feel like you're we're walking through a minefield here.

Yeah, see, that's what I'm not scared to say that.

No, No, I know you are. I mean, I know you're not. But I agree. I agree with you about the whole thing of trying to figure this thing out. But sometimes sometimes, like I've heard, I've heard coaches say, you know, good coaches, good players make good coaches.

Sure you know.

And if you and if all of a sudden you got some guys that can kind of overcome maybe a little bit of lack of what's going on, you know that way. But I tell you what I am. I'm to the point when you ask the question about offensive line that I'm trying to figure out, Okay, which one of these guys can I live with, and which one of these guys could come in here and fit and help and do I'm having a problem with that right now, And you're talking about drafts. I'm talking about draft prospects

Brian, me ask you who is your best guard? Whoever best lineman in his draft?

Right now?

Who's who's who's the best guy in his draft?

For you?

I think it's the Ohio State kid.

So so so so listen, take Josh Simmons versus last year's like last year's grow where do you kind of put him with Mams, with Morgan?

Do you put him with fuaganm Like? Where do you ring?

I think he's near the top of this thing. But the problem I'm running into I'm dealing with an injured guy. Right off the jump, if this guy, if this guy didn't have a knee injury, Bobby, tell me about this some if I'm wrong. But you know, and you really say, well, they they love taking hurt guys. They loved her. I don't want to take a hurt guy. I really don't. They don't in the first round.

I mean, but this year, you got only players that are blanking lights at you.

Possibly there's so many guys in the first round of this draft. There are corners that are hurt, there's there's there's linemen that are hurt.

You know.

I mean, that's that's what I'm doing. I've only got fifteen damn guys. I don't know about you, guys. I've got fifteen guys in the first round that might be well. I think I got three of them are hurt. Three of them are coming off like major fifteen Yeah, wow, of major knee injuries and stuff like that.

Put Simmons. Did you put Simmons in the first Yeah? Because I did too. And he's a hurt guy.

Yeah. See. And same thing Morris in the corner from Notre Dame. You got the hips have a kne he's got a hip. But see, now I'm dealing with the uncertainty of the offensive line of like, Okay, these are good, these are good dudes, good good players. But you know I'm picking at twelve. You know, I mean to me, we could all sit here in poke holes in banks the tackles. Yeah, and I mean me personally, I want

I think he's got the athleticism to do both. But I did put in my notes think he can be an elite guard if you can't inside.

I've got him at tackle right now.

But it's I had Tyler Smith at tackle too, and he's an elite guard.

Convinced me. Then he convinced me about the tackle thing. Convince me. I like the.

Footwork outside, I've seen it before. It was kind of the opposite of Tyler Geyton and what he brought Tyler Goyton brings the size, the athleticism, and a lot of that power up front.

But his footwork was atrocious.

We talked about that last year throughout the draft process and you weren't really excited about it. Goes to the Senior Bowl, has an incredible day, and then does not afterwards. Kelvin Banks, I think would dominate in a in a phone booth as opposed to dominating on an island, if that makes sense. Because I think his footwork is there. I think he's good, but I think the strength benefits better to the inside as opposed to the.

This is where I would disagree with you. I think his feet get out of whack. I think that speed the speeder up. Yeah, I thought he really struggled at See.

My issue with the footwork with Kelvin Banks is it's it's so good in certain areas to me, like I think his past that's look really clean. I like, but they're not quick, no, no, no, But but I think they're really clean. But then I watch him like whenever I see him trying to climb to the second level, I see clumsy feet and that's to me, Like we're talking about what we want inside of guard. That's why I would have him got to have that is because

What do you think?

I think his best blocks are like his down blocks. I think he reaches really well, but like that angrily climbing stuff. He can't get a little wonky right there. But but what I think is most important is can he pass it as a tackle, because you know, I think he can pass it, and as a guard, I kind of want you to be more powerful. I kind of want you to get really I don't think he's grit powerful, gritty enough to be phone boof guard guy.

See this is where I see him. I see the strength and the power there. So I see that and so but I don't see the space player. Sure, Bobby's talking about second level stuff and all that, though, Like you could go and do look at the metrics of the Dallas Cowboys guarden and dependent en if to have a new coaching staff or not. We'll see a lot of combos, a lot of combination blocks, a lot of center guard help each other, you know a lot of those. Yeah, Well,

And the other thing is the stunts, Right, how many times did this team have an issue picking up stunts?

Yeah?

And I think Calvin Banks is a guy that does process and see that, and they're able to switch and pick some of that stuff up, recognize when the blitz is coming, some of that stuff with defenders. I wonder though, And I don't want to interject whatever you're about to say. Your body plays that. You can answer this afterwards. But who do you think is a better power player if you kicked him inside? Is you're lsu Tiger Will Campbell, who I also think could be a good guard, or Kelvin Banks Junior.

I think I think I think Banks is a stronger guy. I think Campbell is more fleet of foot, if you want to put it that way, I think, I think I think Banks is just a more powerful guy. The thing about it is you can see Campbell's second level and stuff like that. To Bobby's point, but I've also see him like he gets a two point stance kick kick kick, he's out there, you know, Banks, it's a little bit. It's not as quick with Campbell. I see it. If you said Campbell play tackle, I'm in Campbell played

First of all, I got a two on Campbell, and I'm ready to flot it in at the kind of not.

I think.

I think probably a high to Yeah, yeah, sure well he'll he'll go go in the seventeen.

I think he gets a little high for me to be playing guard, Like he gets straight leg, like he's thinking, like first of all, his stance is already up, and then he's kind of a tall to dude already. So if you're playing guard, I kind of want you to be able to bend so that you can dig guys. And that's why I think Banks is really good. Like Banks does get down. Yeah, I have a hard problem a hard time seeing will Campbell get down like that.

I heard Dane say something a couple of weeks back that I thought was interesting. So Will Campbell is his top offensive line He's my top offensive lineman, and I don't feel great about the offensive line class. But are you convinced that if Tyler Geiden's in this draft, Will Campbell goes before Geyton because Dane said he thinks Geyton goes ahead of him if he's in this class.

I disagree.

I think Dyton does go ahead of him in this class.

And we got to take his rookie year out of the Yeah, yeah.

Seration just whatever the value is coming out of Oklahoma.

Yeahah, well if you got through all the holding penalties at Tulsa, you know you kind of got through all that, you know, Yeah, you would say.

With Tyler, Yeah, yeah, we're talking about Tyler.

Tyler Smith.

Yeah. Does Dydon is an evaluation go ahead of Will Campbell for the league? I think for most of the league Dighton would have been higher.

Boy, I don't.

I disagree.

If you think Campbell, I'm yeah if you think Campbell is clumsy.

One of my biggest gripes about Guiding was how he leans get over his skis and falls all over the place.

There's no just know.

I mean, I'll give you credit. You made that known.

I'm not new to this. I'm true to this. I wouldn't know.

I'm giving you credit for that. Yeah, so of us were like, you know, like our hands over eyes. Yeah.

And and Campbell I don't. I don't think of Campbell as a powerful player, but I think he played with more power than Campbell. I mean then Guiding, plus, I think there's a better path for Campbell to get on the field for me, Like, I'm not I wasn't excited to put Guiding on the field. I could find a way to put Campbell on the field, like all right, cool, I put him at right guard and gripe about it.

I wasn't excited.

About so I like to rip on Brian about like, okay, we're not gonna play like cowards here, right. I feel like this first round, that's kind of all I'm doing looking at these guys like can.

I get the safest player? I can't. I can't. Who's the safest runner from.

Right around there?

Said what about it as an offensive lineman? Though you're kicking with that? That's where I'm kind of going with Campbell here. I play I play Banks at guard. That's just okay. If you said I had to take if if they don't, if they okay, if the but the medical, if we get all get to India and the medical checks out on Simmons and it's clean of health and all that, tally ho, let's road, you know, I'm all for I'm all for that.

I've heard Banks from Texas, Will Campbell from LSU, Josh Simmons from Ohio State. I want to throw another name in there that I've seen up there, Wyatt Milam from West Virginia.

As anybody watched him.

I think that's a guard and I think he's going to be like the second round. Yeah yeah, we can have a true second round like in the thirty.

So we'll talk about the player. There's some people who think this guy is the next Zach.

Martin the uh Millium you know West year Zach Martin.

Yeah, not this year.

So last week.

I love you, Kyle, you know, show me the three hundred and twenty pounds heavy guards or whatever. That's why I think Wyatt milled Me is right. Like he's three three thirty something like that. Big tail, humongous, powerful dude down blocks. Like I said seventeen, he looks a little biggeran that. He looks a little biggeran.

That, But I hope it's a little clearer than mine. I guess possibly.

I don't think of him as a tackle because I think his his feet kind of get a little lumbery, you know, you know, so they're kind of heavy, and he's a he's one of those guys where powerful and if I quick set you and grab you, I got you. But that quick sett and can get him in trouble. Sometimes a little bit he'll lean and fall over. But just a gritty, nasty dude. If you're just gonna play

But c l a O Cyrus Torrence was a guy.

I was a fan of a Toonio like he's being sharp and A just got all these clean runways behind him, but he goes late or Dark Mafia had injuries.

Or like Brown from Obama like Deoncey just just I move people, Okay, And if you watch an offensive line film, the first thing.

All y'all know should be doing like can I move people?

Does he move guys? And these guys move guys? But they always go day three or something like that.

So I'm caring up, starting and playing good time and there, So I see Cyres Towans, it's gonna say Buffalo great.

So I see Millim and Millim is a move guys, but my feet may not be the best. And I'm just wondering will the league look at him and draft him late even though I like him in the second one?

Well, and I wonder the same thing about Booker from Alabama I'm Booker, I the best guard guard on the class.

And I because you and I, I think we're looking at the same thing here.

I want nasty, I want people movers, and I want somebody who gonna put someone on their rear, and Tyler Booker does that. The other offensive tackle I would advocate for is Connorley Junior from Oregon.

This dude, to me, you look at the size.

I think he's a guy that offensive line coaches are gonna look at and say, I can mold this dude. Give me that mold of clay and I'm gonna make him a really good player. And you watched him against Abdul Carter. I was very impressed in the Big Ten Conference championship game.

The one on ones. He did not get over powered.

He's got long arms, the good kickout to force pressure wide to the quarterback.

That was one of his best things against Carter. That's the guy.

If I had a bet on one of these tackles that might go a little bit later, that could turn out to the best of the bunch.

I think Connorley Junior is the one I leaned. Let me introduce you to Charles Grant from William and Mary Okay, I I did.

He's made a ton of starts for William and Mary. Uh. He's gonna play in the Senior Bowl. Outstanding quickness out of his stance and is set.

But you're right, my friend, Senior Bowl is gonna be humongous for him because I'm just watching his film and I've never even heard of his school.

What the hell is Towsan?

Since I think they had alignment drafted a couple of times. They did good basketball school.

But I want to see him versus some some real dude. I don't know how it's gonna like play out what team or whatever, but we're gonna.

Josh Josh Allen threw the cattle ranchers and stuff out there at Wyoming a different He emailed everybody he could. To your point, get on a team.

When senior boat gets here and he's gonna have the line up against prince Ly.

And Donovan is Boston College Donovan, I don't know that one, and Mike Green and those characters.

When he lines up against those.

Got Kyle Kennard, Landon Jackson, Josiah Stewart, Jordan Birch, David Walker.

I mean, all these guys that are great.

Match up for him, and I got them in my in my second round right now. But if he can whoop those guys, I do have a problem moving them up my board a little bit.

I haven't watched him yet. I know his reputation. I have not watched him yet does he does he make the Ted Thompson test for you? Does he walk on water?

I tell you what, man, Yeah, I learned that in Green Bay. If you're coming from one of these small places, you better walk on water.

I wanted to do a little keep away.

These are draft strategies and position groups, not necessarily specific players, but position groups in its entirety kind of helps setting a stage for the drafts as a whole. But what strategy would you stick away from? Four examples? That is this for the Cowboys, he for all teams, for all teams. Okay, this is just in general for the draft.

Oh this is perfect. Okay, yes, so right, I got you. Kyle running back in the first is an example. I would stay away from drafting or running back in the first round. Not saying that I've got to lead out of the box one for you, but what you got I think like every team in the top eleven picks.

So this just need to stay away from Abdul Carter. There's something about this. It's a good way.

He's just you know, I think the bus potential is off the charts with him.

Character, character issues.

That shoulder might be a chronic injury, it might be something that your career people out there right now.

But yeah, I mean at least for the first eleven picks.

It just doesn't feel yeah, just the first eleven.

As soon as he's on the board at twelve, all of a sudden, that goes away.

What's the best player on Wait, Larry mctuns will win? What thirteen? Yeah, and like enough teams was like, yeah, this just doesn't feel right until it's around twelve or thirteen. Clearly, yeah it makes sense.

No, I think for me it's it's tight end, and at least for the Cowboys, I would not be looking at this. I'm still a Ferguson believer, and I think I like Tyler Warren more than a lot of people like Tyler Warren.

Is probably I brought up Harold Fan and Junior from Green the other day and I got shut down real quick about Tyler Warren from I.

Love Tyler Warren.

I mean, I think he is the best linebacker, but I need to do more work on tight end. Excuse me, but I mean the dude plays all over the place. Like if you're looking for the definition of a football player, Tyler Warren is right there in the dictionary. But I just don't think I think it's too rich. I just am not going tight end. That's not a conversation for me. In round one of this draft.

Watch me go for a little maction here and take that Harold Fanny. Yeah, round one. No, I don't know if I'd take him round to one, but I'll tell you one if you start talking about tight ends. My guy, Mason Taylor, who's Jason Taylor's son, I could say from Millers, I've watched the kid play every snap. What's that.

Gorey Taylor?

I said it, Joy Taylor. Sure, she's proud of him. You better than Colin. I'll tell you what. Yes, I tell you what. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Fox. The thing the thing with with Loveling and all that, I think when we get through these tight ends, there's going to be a decent group. I Warren's probably going to be the I would if people would take Leveland from Michigan in the first round. I don't think I would. I would not.

Yeah, So I think I think you're on gunner Helm from Texas.

I'll tell you what. Every time I watched the Game of Texas play, he woke damn play Yeah, Bobby, and I.

Mean he thought he's a gunner. Helm's going to go on day two right like, and there's not been as much buzz about him. But he I think he's going to go on day two. He's going to He's somebody who's going to be much higher in the tight end group than I think, I think anticipate, I think.

Pro Football Focus. I was looking at their list of their big board. I think they had him in like fifty on their ball Wow. Yeah, on their on their big board.

So I'd probably have him in the top three or four tight ends of this class.

This isn't the same class that.

If I were to guess, I think Gorton's probably between twenty and thirty five.

I had more trouble watching him play, and it's gonna take watching thirteen games or whatever and maybe I'll figure it out. But why is it so troublesome? I just I was expecting more of a twitchy kind of a rusher and he's not. And I don't know if I could take that type of his style of play at twelve and I don't. I don't see it.

So like when I hear VOTs talking about Michael Williams, Like, if I'm gonna say a rightly, there's a lot of busts you can point to who you describe similar with Michael Wims.
