He's the Dallas Cowboys dot Com Draft Show. Cowboys on the Pure War Room for incenter news and draft analysis, Dallas Cowboys Select Aziel Elliott and now your hosts Dane Brugler, David Hellman, and Brian brought us well. Welcome to the Draft Show presented by Miller Lite. Brian brought us here along with my Scottie buddies, Dane Brugler, David Hellman and Kent Garrison Executive producing. Today. Guys, we are in Mobile, Alabama. Once again. Every year, it seems like our setup gets
a little bit better. Yeah, we've gone from being in a bus we were Winnebago one year to like a closet one time. I felt like and yeah, we got some nice digs and we are excited about being here with you guys in Mobile, Alabama. The UH the seventh, the seventieth uh Reese's Senior Bowl and had practice today.
We had the North South practice. The coaches for the practice on the South team will be the San Francisco forty nine ers and then on the North team would be the Oakland Raiders with John Gruden and that bunch. So we just got done with watching both practices Dane Burglar, David Hellman. We had a way in this morning as well, and this is kind of the way things, you know, Dan and Dave, we've been working on these these numbers
that are like estimates, maybe non verified numbers. I guess you would say, you know, and now you have an idea with some of the players that Okay, Drew Locke is this big, he's this tall, he weighs this much, his hand size is this, you know, instead of being kind of at a guessing mode, I rolled over in my bed at like, I don't know, it's probably like seven fifteen this morning, seven thirty. I've rolled over in my bed like I haven't even thought about starting my day.
Dane's already tweeting hand sizes from the conversation. That's why that's where I'm gonna focus on draft season. Well, we'll focus let's let's and and Dane. You know, there's there's This is a good roster players. This is a good roster. We talked about it last week on the Draft Show.
This is a good roster of of players, but kind of some of the names of guys, the big name guys kind of go through some of the heights and weights of those guys, some of the hand size guys that you maybe thought like, Okay, that guy looks like this on film, but actually he's really this, and it might affect how you evaluate these players going forward. Well, it's funny. Nothing gets people more triggered than quarterback hands.
Oh yes, that's the combine one time. Oh and we'll get it again this year and I going to Super Bowl. Listen exactly golf. Yeah, hand size is something that it's more of a threshold thing, you know, just think of it like this, you know, if you have bigger hands, better grip on the football, better quarterball. Yeah, and people get, you know, really up in arms about it, and I get it. Look, Jared Goff had nine inchants he's doing okay, he's you know, one of two teams two quarterbacks still
playing football. Patrick Mahomes is only nine in a quarter, I believe, and for a lot of teams, nine in a quarters kind of the cutoff. Well, Drew Locke came in at nine flat for those that don't know hand measure, flat flat surface, pinky thumb. Nine inches for Drew lock which is not the hand across the hand. Not a great number. And does that mean he's gonna fall and no, but you know it's something that could be a separator if Denver broncos of Daniel Jones and Drew Lock very closely.
Hand size is something that will come up when they talk about debating the two players. So quarterback hand size is uh, you know, it is what it is NFL team's care and that's why it matters. That's why we're talking about it. A few of the other bigger names that you know the important way ins Montes Sweat from Mississippi State. Yeah, you know that. By the way, that kid physically looks good. Oh yeah, and he and he played good today too in the practice. He had a
strong practice. Yeah. Yeah. He came in officially at six six six h six zero six six flat. Yeah. I remember the great players that I will always remember the great play Well. We knew he was tall, we knew who was lean. How long was he? Thirty five and five eighths inch arms? Yeah, that's ridiculous, and we saw that today during practice. Uh, use that long arm, Use that length, get into the body of blockers, yes, and kind of impose his will. So that length is a
big part of what he does. And you saw that on tape. We saw today in practice, and we saw it at the way ends this morning. Dave the defensive end. So we've kind of talked about maybe this might be a little bit of a draft about defensive end sweat. We have to think maybe a top ten player on on on on your board, surely, right, I think he's top twenty, top twenty. Okay, but you're talking about now.
I mean, he's probably the highest rated guy. He yes, he has the highest seas so okay, now he comes in six six two fifty two, has a good start. Teams are kind of getting an idea about him. I mean, this there's this is draft has some pretty good rushers though. I actually I like to see. I'm like, I'm glad that he's here Senior Bowl working out. I love I feel, you know, I feel it was definitely a trend for a couple of years that, uh, you know, guys were
avoiding the Senior Bowl. Yeah, and I feel like they managed to flip it. I don't know if you want to give credit to Phil Savage or you know, Jim Naggie's in charge now. But and you're not gonna get everybody, I know, you know, there are some guys that you'd like to have here that aren't coming to this game. But this is a solid roster, like got and Baker Mayfield probably deserves some credit for that. Um, that's a
good point. But they are they are getting guys to attend this game more than I think five or six years ago. Everybody benefits. There were only five guys, five seniors who declined their invites. Yeah, Josh Allen from Kentucky, who's potentially yeah, once he pulled out as Montes sweat that you know, kind of his chance. There you go, yeah,
there you go, right, big opportunity for him. The other four that declined their invites DeAndre Baker, the corner from Georgia, Christian Wilkins first round out Clemson, the first round, Damien Harris, Alabama running back, Harris Campbell, wide receiver Ohio State. So those five decided not to be here, and then there was another dozen with injuries. But um, you know, today's point. For the most part, guys want to be here. Guys want to compete, and we saw that today in the
first practice. Okay, as we as we go through and trying to talking about these quarterbacks, the guy I was impressed with today was Will Greer throwing the football? Okay, I liked Will Grier and immeasurables was right at six two and a half and two hundred and eighteen pounds. Good start for Will grew today or were you? Were you different than me on that it was up and down?
I mean we saw a ball placement was it seemed like to me when he was rolling to his left right And it was all about the comfort factor of these quarterbacks when you got Kyle shannah and and John Gruden making these quarterbacks have to take snaps right, you know, and their their footwork. Who sell it? Tyree Jackson, Tyree Jackson Buffalo quartered, my goshks like a power forward sixty seven,
you know. But he's heavy and what he does, he's heavy footed, heavy footed, and the mechanics it's all clunky. It is kind of clunky. Look Flunky's the exact word I wrote down. So that's that's a worry about to watch with him. Honestly, the first day of practice, I don't focus as much on the quarterbacks just because it's it's it's the hardest position to really throw him in the mix. And you know, when the wide receivers are
never thrown to new coaching this type of setting. I usually give them a practice, get their feet wet, uh, you know, get them comfortable. And so who do you watch on the first day, everybody, he's gonna tell you a short receiver from you. Mass' is who he's gonna test. And well, he was tapping me. He was, folks, he was tapping me during the during the practice. Wat watch he was, you know, creating separation at will with that quick He had some quick I'll tell you watch he had.
When you see this guy live, he's got some quickness to him. You could no one can come from him. Yeah, that's true. And that's you guys are gonna beat me down on this pick at fifty eight, which well, I don't know. You might be right, we don't might be right, but but his measurables now again scout man. Scout man saw twenty nine and a half on three US twenty Okay, what were the hands eight and a half? Yeah, okay, Well but your boy Hunter Refro I love so I see,
That's what I'm saying. I can I guess I fall in love with Hunter Renfro because he went to school at Clemson and he's playing against Alabama and running routes and stuff like that, and you can probably get him in the fifth round. Maybe we can get Hunter Refro. I have no idea because I don't he look at his measurables. Uh. He probably had the worst way in today. He looked like a fraternity guy up there. He is a He is a slight built guy. One scout behind me said, I used to look like that when in
sixth grade. Yeah, but he's a guy catches every ball he does. But he also has seven and three quarters in chance, which the NFL right now, there is not a single receiver with seven and three quarters a chance there to there, guys there to there. But he does to your point, he does catch everything thrown his way. And he has that subtle quickness at the top of routes where he can you know. Yeah, so and we saw that today in practice. So now I'm gonna Hunter
a Runfro fan. Uh. And Andy Isabelle is just a Dandy abel is a different player, There's no doubt about that. Andy Isabella is it you guys, You guys are gonna beat me down about Andy asbell thing on kind of relevant today. This is thank you, Thank you, Dane. This is not I know, this is all Now we're gonna tie it into our Cowboys here. This is not a Cowboys specific necessarily show we don't talk. We cover the whole draft. I get it. Thank you, Saint Fans, Buccaneer fans.
While we were sitting at Arabia, while we were sitting at practice today, Cole Beasley hopped on Twitter. Okay, we're talking about Cole Beasley because he's an unrestricted free agis an unrestricted free agent, and that's how you're gonna get Andy as a he is not happy about the role that he had on the team. I'm not guessing because he told him he first of all, he's been telling us that since October. But you know, he goes on Twitter today and says, you do damn. Utilization is more
important than money. He says, Honestly, the front office pushes who they want to get the ball too. I haven't been a huge priority in that regard. Maybe that will change, but I'm not sure. Follows all that up by saying, I'm not saying I'm gone, but I want I want the rock. According to Cole Beasley, I had a feeling that when Scott Linahan was shown the door that Cole Beasley's attitude about things would change. That is interesting, and it doesn't seem like it at all. It doesn't seem
like it's well. I mean, you don't think it says. It doesn't mean I'm gone. I mean I think by the writings on the wall, you never you never want to rule anything out, because you can go back and listen to month's worth of our podcast. Like I ruled out the post. We can have parents Williams ever coming back, he did, Are we gonna have a show every week where it's gonna be they need a slot receiver? Yes, because if they don't have Cole Beasley, then they do
they do they need one Ken Garrison. Not even not even at our regular studio. We're on the road and Bill and Kent is still pulling out all off. But if you're calcar fan, you're nervous. He's not bad. No, I'm not nervous, and I don't mean that as any disrespect to Cole Beasley, but like, he's a really good player. He is a very good player rated, But yeah, he's
a good player. You can replicate that. You can replicate that in the draft, especially if you allocate resources to it, like say, if you wanted to spend a top sixty pick on a slot receiver. I'm saying there are a couple of cool Beasley's out there, there are some cold pieces. He's not you, but I do think that's what I thought too. It's we say this every year, like the narrative is going to change because if any team needs a slot receiver, they're slot receivers out there. We're gonna do.
We're gonna do two months worth of shows after a free agency so we'll know. But as it looks right now, the starting slot receivers on Tampa, starting slot receivers on Twitter today's telling you he's not thrilled about his role in this offense. And we're in mobile watching another slot receivers. Don't tell me that this isn't a worthwhile topic of conversation. Oh, I just don't want to talk about it every week. Okay, what do you want to talk about every week? I
want to talk about me? What do you what do you want to talk about? Bruce Anderson a little bit today? Okay, this is one of those fun This is a great thing about coming to the Senior Bowl. I knew nothing about Bruce Anderson. But but I had guys. I had
guys like Dane. Dane was in a whole other area of the weight facility with the heights and weights, and I had people talk about They said, Hey, there's this guy, this Bruce Anderson, this running back from North Dakota State, and I had I had no idea who he was. I had no idea who he's. He kind of got lost in the shuffles into recruiting because he was born in Germany. He is, dad was in the Air Force,
moved around a lot, so he's a worldly guy. Yeah, I mean, you know, it's it's something that uh you know. He was I think only two years in Florida playing high school football, so uh he had some FBS offer and Kent State was an offer, but he went North Dakota State UM and had a trific career. He might be, you know, the top running back I mean here here it's you know, oh Dane, I love you when you say that, because I mean, look who the top running
backs here. Damien Harris the Alabama running back. Here. I think Dexter Williams from Notre Dame has some jews, a big bay. But after that. I think it's wide open and so Bruce Anderson's right there in the mix. Bruce Anderson could catch the football. He did. He can catch it. And I'll tell you what. He ran it inside a couple of times, and he bounced it outside a couple of times, playing whoa, whoa? Where did that come from? The plant and go quickness is pretty clear. You could
see that in person. Uh so I think, yeah, Bruce Anderson helped himself today. He was a he was he was a late ad. He might have been in for Miles Gaskin, but regardless, I'm glad he's in Mobile this week. I'll tell you what, though, did you say, Okay, now we go running back for the Dallas Cowboys running back for anybody? Ye? Well as a need yeah hell yeah yeah yeah. It's I mean from a practicality standpoint, yeah, Rod Smith's out of contract. From a performance standpoint, he
didn't blow anybody's mind this past season. You know, I'm a big member of the Darius Jackson fan club. Let's not just act like they should stand pad on Darius Jackson. Yeah so yeah, no, it's it's and they don't have, you know, to use the word from Dane like they don't have that guy that brings the extra juice, like they if Zeke's not on the field, and he can't always be on the field. If Zeke's not on the field, you're not scared of what the other guys are bringing.
And so I've heard people throw running back around as fifty eight. I hate that. I'm not a fan of that. But third round are you afraid of that, Dave? Because use your resources wisely. Wait a minute, you guys would have drapped. You guys would have drafted what do I want to five eight receivers? He's our to start in the spot. I just want to hear the passion. I just want to once again hear the passion. There's the passion. Don't draft a back up with your second round. Let
me give me a six round pick. I'll find you Philip lindsay that, thank you. I mean you did last year, Philip, you did. I wouldn't take him a sixth round? You did? You found Philip Lindsy starting starting in the fourth round is when I'm interested yet. Day three? Yeah? Yeah? Who another position that I know you know tight ends Cowboys interests? Well, when you go there, I was gonna go defensive tackle. But we get both of those. Let's go tight end
real quick. Were the great spotsors here of the Cowboys is the Stetson company, Stetson hat compy. Yeah, they gotta they gotta tight end. Do they have a tight end? That again, is just fall in love with these day three schools. Donald Parum, Right, yeah, Donald part what do you mean fall in love this guy? Listen to your voice? Was he running routes? Well? Today I thought we were talking about tight ends. He's a slot receiver. I mean that's what he is. He's six eight, two hundred forty pounds.
And how about the line of the day by you. They had to stop the ceiling fans. Yeah, it was the measure when they he walked up there, David, he it was like, oh my gosh. I mean it was like he was just you know they six six eighty three yeah, six oh yeah, there's our first scouts measurement six eight. He's six eight. And I'll tell you what, though, I thought he was gonna be kind of clunky running, you know and all that. That's why he's not a tight end. He's a he's a slot receiver because he's
still lead his legs. He's basically a stilts for legs. You know, he's a narrow lean. Yeah, he's a big boy. Yeah, that's unbelievable. Man. I thought you were gonna, based on you know, I edit your stories. I thought you were gonna put on your Homer hat. Yeah, for our LSU guy today, Foster. That's what I was trying to get to. Well, I was trying to because like that we talked about when Kat and Jeff and I sat down and watched Tight Ends, it was it was Dak Raymond. Yeah, from
Utah State. Big fan of him, big fan of his, you know. And there was one time though he got covered pretty well. But other of that, I thought everything else separation wise, was pretty good. But okay, Foster Moreau, you know, yeah, he slid and nothing. That's what he is. I can't get I like him, No, No, I like him. I just don't think he's a average in any one area, but he's But I think he's good in every area.
You know. I thought he had a good day. And I'm not just Sam because he's an LSU guy, But I thought today of Dak Raymond, he was better than Dak Raymond. I Honestly, I thought all the tight ends did pretty well. You're you're right about the stats and guys, we're all on there on that par him and I mean, I thought Oliver had a nice day. Raymond. I didn't notice Sweeney. I didn't notice him the BC kid, No, Tommy, I didn't notice him as much. No, I didn't either.
But these coaches will use some tight ends on you, Roster. I thought the three tights. These coaches will use some tight ends. Yeah, especially I mean, geez, the forty nine ers. The forty nine ers want everybody on the field but the receivers. Yeah, and like give me the fullbacks and the tight ends. Yeah. Yeah, I tell you what I was. I was a big h I was a fando of of what I saw today from these tight ends. So how about another position? I'm I mean, I'm spitting I'm
spitting names out there. Can I get you to fall in love with David Long? Linebacker? Inside linebacker from West Virginia. We were talking about Hunter Renfro and how teams are going to you know, look at the measurables, and you know, at what point do you look past the just being a football player? Exactly? Yeah, gritted teeth. Well, that's what David Long. He's Oh, yes, the length do you worry
about the length? Half but at thirty and three quarters any arms, which is for a linebacker you want at least thirty two at least not no. But again, but he's a good football player and he showed that today. He plays fast, he plays physical, but at the same time he's controlled. I mean, he can bear, he can cover,
he could cover space. Yeah, he's a good player. Get in space and the knocked off hand, you know, and then the next thing you know, they're trying to run the ball wide and there's this West Virginia helmet flying through the middle of maybe the ultimate Uh you know this it's not there. You know, it sounds good, but it's really not that big of a deal. He was a Big twelve Defensive Player of the Year, which again in a conference that doesn't play defense. Big defense facts.
I know, they don't play defense. But again, he's a good player, and he's gonna be in this league because he's just darn good a competitive football player. But what's a value can he start? Still questions we have to figure out with him. This guy's a legitimate I mean I'm looking forward after what I saw today. I mean, I'm looking forward to the film. Stay there, he Dan, I don't. Leaned over to Dana said what about this kid? He said, you like the film? The problem is everything
that he said, short arm, short body. You know, but what at what point in time? At what point in time do you take this guy? Okay? People were wearing me out on Twitter today about defensive tackles. Oh, oh, best, the best. Some of the best players I saw today were defensive tackles. Really yes, okay, Tell mentioned, uh the defensive line with sweat sec defensive linement. Daylon Mack from A and M. How do people, oh fantastic? Describe his day? Then?
For everybody, Well, because he's a squatty guy, Well he is, he's square. I saw him at media day and he looks like the proverbial trash can full of dirt. Yeah, he's got his picture is it's like he's it's no neck, he's just his heads on his shoulders kind of a thing. Yeah. In my notes, I have a fire hydrant. I mean that's what he is. But he can do if he's a he's he uses that lower that that low leverage
to his advantage. So he has that initial quickness, he can surge off the line of scrimmage, get underneath the pads of blockers and bully him. He got the Alabama center. I just destroyed him, went right through him on one rep and then the next rep got him with quickness around off his shoulder. So he has a lot to offer with just the natural torque that he can you know, give you from the hips from his lower body. Uh,
that initial quickness off the ball. I think Dalen Mack with what he did as a senior because he was really an underperformer Aggie's Aggie fans will tell you, you know first how how much you underperformed earlier in his career. Right, really came on as a senior, played better and better as the season went on, continued that momentum this week. Uh in Mobile so far with practice one, he was one of the best players I saw today. Did you
notice did you notice Greg Gaines at all? From from Washington? It was hard not too because he had a good day. But he's another one that he's a short. He's a short daddy, Hano. What am I doing? I'm liking all these short players tonight? Well, Hey, I give you another guy in the ball man Greg Gaines, defensive tackle, University of Washington. I thought, on the one on one stuff he was they couldn't block him, and then they got into the where they were the double team him a
little bit, and it was a little bit. If you like a short daddy, and I mean short daddy, like a six one, three hundred and seven pound guy, right, he's he's that guy. Well and sticking with PAC twelve interior defensive lineman Ronnell Wren from Arizona State. Guy, he turned me onto this guy. He's raw. He's very raw, very raw. But when you're talking about six to four, three hundred fifteen pound frame with decens almost thirty, his
ability that first step quickness is exceptional. And then he's got the upper body where he's going to beat you up with his arms, with his punch. So it's a great place to start. First step quickness, upper body strength at that size. Give me that, and you know those
are the traits that NFL teams look for. Renell Wren's gonna go I think a lot highering people realize say that name again, because that's one of those ones where when it when it happens then I'll be able to say when he gets picked at when he gets picked at forty one, right exactly, then I'll say Dame Burglar had that guy January twenty second, Dane had that guy at the Senior Bowl right watching him today because like the tape, you see the flashes, and I watched the
tape with you. Oh yeah, we did hit Yeah, turn me onto me and they're like, what do you think of this guy? I'm like, man, he flashes at you and then you're like going, and you say, I'm like, he goes. He's at the Senior Bowl. You get to see him live. It's great to see the tape and then watch these guys move around live. Absolutely, Oh I see you know it, Scouts. I mean, I see why they love it so much. I just I love this. I love this way too much. Okay, yeah, I love
this way too much. Okay, Hey, when we come back, we're gonna take your questions. We're gonna play Twitter on the twenty We want your questions. Dave's going through him right now. You could follow account. We're doing stuff on periscope as well. I'm gonna kind of dig some questions out of that. Maybe we can go there. But Dave's got some stuff, Dane's got some stuff. We'll be right back here from the Senior Bowl here in Mobile Alabama, Mobile Alabama, You've got the draft show, were right back.

Would not be able to take any calls this week here from the Senior Bowl, but we sure can take a lot of tweets. We could take periscopes anyway. You any questions you have will do our very best to answer it. So with that being said, we will do a little little Twitter on the twenty Twitter on the twil All right, go ahead, David, here's the one from Sam Figure. This is a guy we talked about leading into the Senior Bowl. I bet you he'll come up anyway, So I'm just gonna get it out of the way.
Rock Yes scene. I hope I said that, right, Dane. Yeah, good, I got us enough. Yeah, which guy that a lot of people have already talked about. I'm curious speak about the way in I saw he went from six two in Temple's books to five eleven. And but just in general, what are you guys? What do you guys think? He had a nice battle with Debo Samuel today. They both got the other at times. Debo did a nice job stacking,
getting over the top, tracking football into his hands. Uh. With with Rock, he did a nice job getting physical, and that's his game. He's a physical corner who when I talked to him back in September, he told me that his junior year in high school, he thought he's gonna be an Olympic wrestler. I mean that was his game. Senior year, starts playing football. Next thing you know, he's going to Presbyterian. Presbyterian going to a non scholarship division,
so he transfers a Temple for a senior year. Next thing you know, NFL scouts beating down his door. He's at the Senior Bowl and there's there's a lot to like him out. He might be the best cornerback in this draft. With his back to the ball, I think he does a really nice job feeling what's going on, reading the receiver, getting his head turned and making a play. Um. You see that a lot on his tape, and I
think you saw that a little bit here today. So Rocky us into me is the top corner here, Uh, probably the number two senior corner behind DeAndre Baker from Georgia, but a good chance that he's gonna go somewhere in that top fifty top sixty mix. You said he plays well with his back to the to the ball. Explain that to maybe some people the first time you're watching stuff. It's kind of a scouting term and stuff like that. Well, you gotta explain a little bit about it. It takes savvy,
it takes instincts. You have to have a really good feel for it because playing cornerback is not just about being fast, and you know, having great length helps. It helps, Yeah, but it's it's like you're it's like a dance. You know, you have to be coordinated with your movement. You have to be instinctive, you know, from the from the neck up in terms of reading routes and understanding what the
receivers trying to do. So I think he does a really nice job of playing within himself and understanding his strengths. And that's uh, the ball awareness and getting physical, and so we saw that tell on his tape. We saw that to a good fit for a team that's looking to do what I mean, I think he could play cover two. I think he could, you know, get physical at the Lanta scrimmage and play you know, press man. Uh, he doesn't have I mean, you're going to see at
the combine. What're we talking about him? A lot of the combine? What he runs like that? Well? Is he a four or five two guy getting the four four long speed? You go to find that as well. So Rock you sends a player we'll be talking about throughout the process. You Caleb, he must have read y'all's minds from the top of the show, because we did dedicate some time to Bruce Anderson. But he wants to talk about under the radar running backs here in Mobile. Bruce
probably fits that. Bill or maybe Dexter Williams, or if there's somebody else that y'all have noticed, how about Slippery rock An You're gonna go se Division two West Hills. He's got a fascinating backstory because he was at Delaware and then but at Delaware a couple of years injury and to the season last year Academics, and what happened was his clock ran out at the at the Division one level, so he had to get out of there and transfer. It goes to Slippery Rock, sets a single
season rushing record there. And this is another example. Dayaln Mack and we mentioned earlier, went to the Shrine Game, had a great week, got to call up and that's happened to a few guys. This week happened with West Hills, had a great week at the Shrine Game last week in Tampa and Saint Pete's comes here and I'll tell you what he's He's got a lot of fans in
the scouting community. Um, you know, I don't know how everyone feels or you know, I haven't pulled teams or tried to dig too much on him just yet, but talking to a few scouts, they really like him. Uh foot quickness, toughness, he runs with energy. I worry about ball security, that was an issue for him on US tape. But there's something to this guy, and so I'm eager to see throughout the week how he does. And that's
that's a big thing here. Practice getting better from day to day each day from Tuesday to Wednesday, to Thursday, taking the coaching that you're receiving and showing it on the football field. And for running backs, it's tough to perform here because it's you know, you don't really get a chance to show as pro That's what I was going to ask you tomorrow when we get the full pads.
Are we gonna see him be a complete back or we're gonna see him be a guy that they're they're coaching him up how to how to be a passage? That will definitely be a storyline we watched tomorrow and Thursday, which, by the way, tomorrow's practice has been moved to South Alabama's indoor facility. Okay, so we can't watch the practice in right still, that's up up in the air because
it's a smaller area. So we don't know yet we'll be able to get in, will they They've been talk about maybe broadcasting it, but even that's you know, technical equipment getting in there. So it's all up in the air at this point. We won't wait and see you tomorrow what they say. The organizers aren't stressed about that at all. Yeah, well, but it's a it's a brand new, great facility, so the players would be in great shape. But for our purposes being selfish, it's not a great situation.
Not a great situation. I did. Each team will probably get a couple of rep or a couple of representatives. I heard. I heard chatter. You know, each team probably gets a couple of scouts in the door. And then I think I heard NFL Network and ESPN kind of signed off on it, which I would hope or think that they wouldn't if they didn't think they were going to be able to broadcast. So well, yeah, NFL Network is doing the daily practices at the very least, maybe
we can watch it on TV. Right, that's true. It might be a fun little session for us to do. Yes, Okay, Uh once again, Dave, we're doing again Twitter on the twenty here. How about our appreciate all the questions everybody sad Cowboys fan? Oh. I love when people don't use their real names. Um linebackers. Uh, and he specifies maybe some mid round guys. Everybody everybody wants mid round guys. They want a guy that they can steal. Anybody jump out to you. Uh, well, and they start at the
way ends. Terrell Hanks from New Mexico State. Yeah, you pointed him out. He won the way in. Yeah, he's a good looking guy. He wins the Greek God Award with Yeah length, pretty good length to uh. He sculpted, broad shoulders, long arms, and he wears the opposite to me if you could say that same uh he but he wears it really well. I mean he's not overly tight and bulky, but he's just really athletic and smooth.
H and he did a nice job. Really. The only negative rep I saw from Bruce Anderson was one on one with the Hanks when Uh Hanks got physical with him off the line of scrimmage. Uh stopped the route, controlled the route, and then buried to Anderson into the ground. Uh. Athletic kid, he's got some freaky qualities. Terrella Hanks I thought was a winner from practice one. Am I gonna say the name wrong? Alaka from Texas A and M Yeah, that's it wrong. No, you got him? Did you see
anything at six three two forty today? Honestly I did not see much of him, That's what I'm saying. How does the guy at six three two forty not get noticed? Right? Maybe? Is that the way? You know? Is that something that we kind of maybe at Texas A and M. And I'm no offense to anybody out there with the school of Texas A and M. But I would like to hope that I would know just a linebacker that's six three two forty today. Yeah, yeah, Why did I notice
a five eleven line not a six three line. I don't know if he honestly, if he has draftable tape, I don't. He's an okay player. I don't know if he's draftable though. But keeping with the linebackers, Bobby Okareky from Stanford, Yeah, I saw him a couple of times thirty four and three quarters in charms. Yeah, they ridiculous length. I don't think he uses it the right way all the time. He needs to do a better job keeping blockers off him. But he's a he's a twitched up
athlete with speed closing burst. Oh you saw it today because there was one where they tried to run the ball wide and he and again he knifed through there and made a nice play. If you're talking about the top linebackers, top senior linebackers here, I think it's start a Jermaine Praft from NZI State to me's a top linebacker. And then you talk about Tevon Coney from Notre Dame, Bobby Okarecki from Stanford. Those to me are the top three linebackers here. Um, but David long And from West
Virginia I talked about earlier. You know, he wants to get up there. He wants to it's just oh no, you look past the lack of length. I wish he was just taller. I really do. I mean, because seriously, he could cover. I mean, he could cover, and he he's gonna play nickel linebacker for somebody. Might might just be a two general there. I just love I don't mean to just throw something out there. I just love how you take it personally, like it's his fault that
he's not an inch tall. I take it personally because the guy's a hell of a football player. That's why I take it personally. Okay, linebacker, we kind of went through those guys. We got pads on tomorrow, but we won't maybe get to see that as much. Like we're going to find a way. Yeah, we'll figure it out. Jerry Jones here, We'll just piggyback. Yeah, we talked about this. We so again, I like the viewers are reading Yell's minds. But we talked about both of these. But okay, so
the tight ends and the d tackles. Who asked this question, by the way, this is Mike. Mike, thank you very much. If you've got you know, you're just looking at these two positions. Where's their more depth here between those two spots linebacker? Right? No, no, no, tight end and D tackle in the draft or here I want to talk. I mean, we might as well talk about the guys here. I was thinking three months to get to the rest
of that. Yeah, I think that when you're talking about the tight ends here, defensive tackle to me is stronger at the top. Yeah, like guys editing a drafted earlier. Yeah, but in terms of middle round depth, that's probably where tight end takes over. I kind of was more impressed with the tight ends today than I was the defensive tackles. And I know Dane flipped it on me the other way, so no, but really we were sitting six inches next to each other, across from each other, So I thought
the tight ends had a great day. I really did. I mean, I think you know, from Foster, my road to Josh, all of our Well, let's answer the question, then, Dane, if if, in fact, let's take the broad view for everybody. Let's take the broad view if a team is looking if the Atlanta Falcons fans, or the Tampa Bay fans,
or the Saints fans, or whoever. I just went through the whole NFC South there, sure did, with the exception of Carolina, if they're if their fans are looking for a defensive tackle, is the depth there or is the more? Is the depth better for tight ends if somebody's looking for one of those positions, Well, again, we just talk my seat your bowl, guys. I'm talking overall, in the whole entire draft and the whole draft. Yeah, I think tight ends the deeper group. Yeah, but I think it's
a better group overall. Yeah. Well, defensive tackle it kind of like what we said. It might have the you know, more star, might be a different might be different, right, Well, defensive tackle. Yeah, has a Quinnon Williams tight end? I mean I love T. J. Hawkinson, but Simmons from Jeffrey Simmons and Christian Wilkins. Okay, maybe I should shut up now. Well, but what my point is, you know, the tight ends don't have that star power in the top ten to
top fifteen. But once you get past there, once you get started about the second third round, I think tight end is really deep. But with the juniors that came out, the seniors Josh Oliver, the Washington kid, I like a lot Drew Sample. Uh. I think both have a chance
to the top one hundred guys. So if I need a tight end this draft as appealing as t. J. Hawkinson is, as no offantas in the top thirty or forty picks, I might go for a defensive tackle in the top thirty or forty because I know it's gonna stretch. I feel better about the tight ends I can get later on. Drew Sample Washington point is a perfect example. Who can block, He can catch up all the backfield. So a lot of these guys that could play in line. Yeah,
those Iowa kids, we talked about them last week. My gosh. Yeah, it's a breeding ground just for NFL tight ends. Yeah, absolutely, no doubt anything else there. Yeah, if you've got time, why not. Uh. We we sort of touched on this, but I just h Norman best receiver today so far. Norman is asking this. Yeah, talked about Debo, We talked, We talked about Andy Isabella. I say that's that's the answer.
I mean, yeah, And I wrote this on the Athletic today about my practice report with coming into the week, who was the best receiver? To me? That was a storyline, right, who was the best receiver at the Senior Bowl. My vote goes to Andy Isabella. But I think there's several receivers that we saw today saying hey, hey, not so fast, ye Deebo Samuel was one of the I think he's in that mix. Anthony Johnson from Buffalo, I think I had a good week or good day of practice, started
off the week. Well, he's got average speed, but he's very He might be one of the more polished players here. Does a nice job hiding his route, breaking it off, you know, working back to the quarterback and finishing really like with Anthony Johnson from Buffalo can give you any of the other receivers pop out to you. I wrote about the sales kid from West Virginia. Yeah, because because I saw a couple of times where he made plays getting open and he made one along the sidelines. I
kind of like the body control. I've seen him play West Virginia, you know, with a quarterback throwing it up to him. And I've always been kind of impressed about him. Yeah, there's something sneaky about the way he plays. I understand his dad created a schools right, you know, I mean, yeah, quarterbacks. I broadcast a high school game he was part of. They played Copel in our local team there, so uh yeah, but I he committed to USC in the seventh grade. Yeah,
as a quarterback. As a quarter he looks like a really good athlete. But I don't know if he's fast or quick. But you do see him separate and you do see him make catches. Yeah, and I do think he's quicker than fast. Um, And I just I worry about the play strength. I don't think he's strong. I don't think you play strong. I think he's I said, it's a guy to keep an eye on, though I see, I haven't seen. I didn't see the strength. That's that's what I'm saying. I didn't see the strength problem. And
maybe you're up, you're ye. I mean when we when we start looking at this, you know that's what that's what's gonna happen for a quarterback. He tracks the ball extremely well. I think he's very natural judging the ball in flight, adjusting course and then finishing deep. We saw that today a couple of deep shots I think from Will Rear with that natural chemistry. So yeah, and with Sills, I think the last two years he has thirty three touchdowns. Yeah,
most in the FBSC splits. Again, we'll say the pack, the big twelve D. That's all crazy. And we talk about West Virginia wide receivers, you have to talk about the lack of a route tree, you know, and that's a that's a big thing lack of is you're a guy named Jennings there, West Virginia, Garry Jennings. Okay, the question a periscope was who do you like better between Sills and Jennings. I'm rolling the dice on on Sills. But Jennings is a good player too. I think he's
got a chance to be a later round pick. But with Sills, he's just there's a lot that says he shouldn't be a good quarterback or a good wide receiver. But he catches, he produces, and so I there's something to him that you just you're not going to give up on him. And one more question here, Dane, I'm trying to because I could talk about this too. Do you like the Deeter from Wisconsin? It wasn't a great day for him. I didn't think so either. I do like him, I do too, but I didn't. I didn't
think it was a good day for him. No, what's it? Charles Amna who from Texas absolutely steam rolled him. Yeah, using that who the thirty six and with the three quarter in charm something ridiculous. Use that length, went right over Deeter and got into the backfield on a one on one drill. He did not have a good day, but he's talking about a fifty fourth straight starts at question, double digit starts a tackle guarden center. Yeah, I had some versatility. There's a lot to lago a deater. I
think he's a potential top fifty pick. Just wasn't a good day for him today. Yeah. I ran into a couple of Indianapolis Colts scouts and I and I said, listen, I apologize to you guys. They looked at me kind of funny, like what do you apologize? Before? I said Bradon Smith, I go, I didn't think Braden Smith? And I go, did you guys have a first round grade on Braden Smith? And he goes, No, we didn't. We
had a second round grade. Yeah, and I said, I know you had a first round grade on quentnin Nelson for sure, everyone but but but I said so, but it was not a first Rondes, No, we didn't have a first round grade. But we're really really the thing that we liked about Braden Smith and this is what you pointed out watching the draft show last year. Very athletic, very athletic, very good second level player, and that's what they really appreciate it. But I always liked with when
you watched when he studied carry On Johnson. Yeah, why is the ball going past him? Allah? Yeah? Why is he going behind the right guard? You know, That's that's what really impressed me with him. And I look, I don't, I don't. I don't know if the Colts really expected this from Braydon Smith starting right tackle and they looked like they were they were thinking that he was gonna
be a good player. Oh no, they obviously they did, but I don't know if they expected this much, this quick and so but credit to the player and to the Colts for the absolute match. Okay, we're gonna take one more break or final break and then when we return, we'll kind of dive into what we expect tomorrow. Dane and Dave are talking about maybe we'll have an indoor practice. We'll see though. Maybe there's some guys with the full pads on that can elevate their game a little bit
and get the Draft show to notice him. So we'll be right back. If you're like me and you love I mean, if you have a thing, then cutting the chord is scary. David Hillman, Dane Brugalo, Brian brought us K. Garrison, Executive producing, Uh, we'll be with you tomorrow night as well. Again, we're kind of playing this thing by year to see what kind of access we will have with the practice. Was literally we were just joking about how like we could do the Senior Bowl in our sleep by now you know this is this is my seventh I think, and you're Dane, you've probably been doing it for ten or so. Yeah, we're on ten years. Yeah, and god know since nineteen
ninety two. Thank you for throwing that in my face. So but in first grade, this will be this will be unprecedented, right, neither one of them deal with this. I don't ever remember a Senior Bowl practice where we didn't get to go watch it. I remember doing this at the East West Shrine. Uh. Yeah, and know in Florida, Florida Saint Pete's. Uh, they literally did practice in the hotel in a ballroom. Yeah. Uh, but you mean there's not much you can you know, glean from that. But
here days you're supposed to be great. Yeah, Thursday, Thursday is supposed to be great, and Thursday Friday are supposed to be great days. Yeah, Unfortunately I'm out yeah. Yeah, but well we'll see how it's gonna work. I don't know. The South Alabama's got this beautiful new facility. They just just opened it. Yeah, so we'll see how. It doesn't sound like we're gonna have access, but we'll be televised a lot of logistics to work through and uh, but
we will have a show that Tomorrow night. We will have a show and then we will come back at you on Thursday as well. We'll have to see logistically. I say, we've got Dane Leavin and Dave Leavin. I'm staying over. But what we're gonna do is probably put one in the hit one an early morning Thursday morning show. We'll see what we'll get it all together, but we'll have a couple more shows. Okay, guys that there were some guys that today caught your eye. Okay, tomorrow boat
teams pads come on though, what position? Well are you gonna when we get the most out of tomorrow the evaluation again, Hopefully we'll get to see these guys. But is it gonna be the nine on seven stuff? Is it going to be? Is it still gonna be the pass rush stuff? Where where's gonna be the best evaluation tomorrow. If you're watching this, well, first of all, I want to see the offensive lineman have a better day than they did today. I thought thought the offensive line the
defensive line on both sides right north end south. Defensive line dominated both the interior, both on the edges. It was our rough day for an offensive linemen on both sides. And like those drills is one on ones, it's really designed for the defensive lineman. You're winning one on one, You're you're doing. I want to see the offensive linemen get better. But like I said before, quarterbacks, practice two is when I really start to focus on the quarterbacks. I want to give them a day to get their
feet wet. Okay, let's see now on day two how you perform. Now, this might be a little more of a curveball if they're being thrown into an indivorce indoor facility, and how that might change things for these quarterbacks, but they won't have to deal with the elements. Um so from the quarterbacks, Look, Tyree Jackson is a project right. Okay, He's every bit of six seven, two hundred fifty pounds. Uh, He's got a huge arm. He remind you of anybody day.
I put this out there earlier. Yeah, if you combined Josh Allen in Cardal Jones put him in a blender in card the result it looks something like Tyree Jackson. I don't know if that's a yah. Is that a mean thing that I just said? A compliment? But I think when you because there's a lot of things that remind you at Josh Allen, but he's not nearly the athlete that Josh Allen was. He's not nearly as loose
with his delivery and his release. But when you factor it in, Cardell Jones put him in there because he was a little rigid, his shoulders were c saw. Yeah, you know, I think that's what you get. But I think he's right now. I think Tyree Jackson is a potential top one hundred guy. I don't I to me, he's a Day three guy. But talking to scouts, they've got optimism, they've got hope. It's gonna take a big
week here. Though. Remember this is Redchard junior who came out early, and you know there's could another year helped him. Oh there's no question. Okay, so you're you're on the plan. He you thought another year he gets bitter. Well, he actually entered the graduate portal, you know, maybe moving on,
but portal exactly. But at the end of the day he decided, you know what, I'm gonna go pro and you know, a questionable decision, but the chance to come here because he's already graduated, the chance to come here to mobile is is huge for him. Again, I want to see progression. Today. We saw what we saw on tape. A guy with a huge arm basically just rock throw the ball live. But the mechanics and that kind of the inconsistent mechanics throw off his accuracy and his placement downfield.
You're making receivers work for the ball. He'll he'll make a perfect throw that just make him go wow, okay, but it's everything in between, you know, not just to highlights, but everything between that just you know, you get you're frustrated with so here. I just want to see progression
with him, and really the same thing with Drew. With Drew Locke, I didn't think he had a particular was very strong today and I was thinking, okay, here here are guys who were talking about potential top fifteen picks, right, yeah, I mean that's what Drew Locke is because he's got a special arm, right. I think he's he mightained so much to Derek carr Um. I love the makeup that he has. Uh, he's a good sized kid. He's an athlete, but kind of the same questions, mechanicals, something like that.
That sounds right, you know me. I just I'm fascinated by measureable my favorite. I'll look it up. Just keep talking. You're doing well, okay, so with oh sorry by bad six O three six six Okay, Real Greer was six two four, that's right. Will Greer was the other one, yeah exactly, saying he's close close to six four exactly. Yeah, I said, no, no questions about the size. But the main storyline for me entering this week was Drew Locke the Aniel Jones, those two quarterbacks. Who was better, Who's
gonna have the better week? And through one practice, Daniel Jones clearly got the edge in my opinion. Well, and he's just everything looks natural to him, and you know it just every He doesn't have nearly the arm strength as a Tyree Jackson or Drew Locke, but everything's natural. His deep ball needs work. He underthrew it, he overthrew it. He couldn't. He couldn't quite find it right. But everything short to intermediate stuff, tempo, rhythm, accuracy, I thought it
was all there. I love the mannerisms that he shows. I mean, he's just very He works at this like it's you could tell it's his craft, and he works hard at it. Um and it's repeatable with everything that he does, and so I think that's important, um, just with a consistency factor. So Daniel Jones Drew Locke, who wins practice too. I thought Daniel Jones took practice one. Yeah, there's a lot of that. That's and a lot of teams are looking at these quarterbacks. It's a Good's a good.
We were standing somewhere next to one in the press box, mister John Elway. Yeah, John Elway. And actually about this Dan, I hit Dane in the ribs and I go. It was Dan Marino and John Elways sitting there talking. I wish I'm going I wish anybody listening, and I'm not trying to be a jerk about it. I wish anybody listening could have the opportunity to just come hang out here for three days, because like literally, I was working
on a story. I'm banging away on my keyboard, and I'm like, I bet I'm annoying the crap out of the guy sitting behind me. So I just turned around to see who it was. It was John Harball, just chilling to watch practice, right. Sorry, sorry if I'm make a noise. So you weren't nicky typing, were you? I was mickey typing. I was like, slam, I was trying to I was tying the story out, um real quick.
I know we talked about Deeter from Wisconsin, Wisconsin the card, but I'm curious and maybe I'm drawing a blank here. But like every year, going back to Zach Martin, there's uh, there's an offensive lineman specifically, there's like a tackle that we talk a lot about. Remember the kid from the Kid from Pitt was a guy we talked a lot about last year, drawing a blank on his name to the tackle, the offensive tackle that ended up he didn't
like him. But oh, O'Neil, yeah, Vikings was Dalton Miller here, Colton Miller, Colton. I'm sorry, yeah, Miller, Colton Miller. He was He got overrun like several times. But my point is is like we're not really talking about any offensive lineman at the Senior Bowl at least nine. That's the one. He's the top offensive lineman here. Um And again going back with the storylines. One of the main storylines for me Andre Dillard right now, I consider him my second
round pick. Does he get into the first round with a strong week? Does he go from possible first rounder the probable first rounder? If it's gonna take a strong week. I thought I was up and down today. If they took Aya Fetti in the first round, this guy's gonna get picked in the first round. Yeah. I mean, I'm talking to the back end of the draft. Right I'm back in the first round, and we know tackles get pushed six, five, three ten. That was big stuff for
him him. Yeah, because he doesn't play he doesn't play with long arms. No, but I think the film. I thought the film was good. The feat he's got the feet there's that's a great place to start. And so Andre Dillard definitely has a chance to put himself in the first round. But I think he needs a strong next two days. I thought today it was up and down. Montes sweat got to him, uh, but he he rebounded well. So up and down? How does he do the next two days. That that's the key. What did you say
his arm length was thirty four even? See because in my note Chim looking he looked like a short arm blocker at time. No, because he plays like that. Yeah, so thirty four is great. No, no, no, he moment, but he has the length. At least we know that he could, you know, get better in that area. But he doesn't. He let in the run game, in in the pass game, he lets rushers and defenders get into his body control him. Uh, he needs to get a little stronger with his punch, with his timing, and I
think he can. Is just gonna take some work. Why I say, maybe look him as a center. No, that same thing. I thought the same thing. You know, it's one of those I said length will be a problem, But he has thirty four inch arms. It's because he lets him into his body. He's got a big welcome sign and he just came out of the chest. You
got to welcome out of the chest. You think it's fair to and like, I mean, stars studded an offensive line are almost like antonyms, but like it doesn't sound like this is the offensive line class at the Senior Bowl is usually like one of the things to look forward to, and they get there's some good offensive lineman in the shraft though, sure, and yeah there are there are. I think here we're talking about better than last year. Yeah, yeah,
better than last year. Yeah. Andre Dillard is the top guy. After that, probably Michael died Wisconsin guard and after that, Dalton Reisner's in the mix. Kansas State played right tackle, I think his best positions inside center. He didn't have a great day, so yeah, you're right. All those offensive linemen struggled today. Yeah, they really did.
