The Dr. Westin Childs Podcast

Dr. Westin Childswww.restartmed.com
Do you feel like your thyroid is taking over your life? Are you suffering from symptoms like weight gain, hair loss, fatigue, brain fog, or mood swings? If so, you aren’t alone. In fact, millions of other thyroid patients in the United States and around the world suffer from the same issues. And these issues persist even in the face of normal treatment with thyroid medication! The question is: what can you do about it? That’s exactly what this podcast is about. I’m Dr. Westin Childs (D.O.) a former practicing osteopathic physician and my goal is to help thyroid patients get back to feeling 100%. Well, I actually have 2 goals: #1. The first is to help 1 million thyroid patients directly or indirectly. And #2. To create the most comprehensive and helpful thyroid resource for thyroid patients on the internet. I know just how debilitating thyroid disease can be and I also know that it is possible to take control of your life. One of the biggest problems with thyroid management is that we just don’t talk about it enough. This podcast changes that. We are going to discuss all sorts of topics ranging from thyroid management, the use of less talked about thyroid medications, opinions on emerging treatments and therapies from leading experts, the use of natural therapies and how they fit into the conventional model, and so much more. If you want more information aside from the standard thyroid treatment of TSH and levothyroxine then this is the place for you. We won’t just stop at your thyroid, either. Other topics that are relevant and important to thyroid function will be discussed including things like hormone balance, menopause, testosterone replacement therapy, and weight loss therapies. If something helps you to better manage your thyroid, improve your symptoms, lose weight, or balance your hormones then it’s something I want to include. For more information on me and why I do what I do check out my website here: www.restartmed.com If you have any questions or have a topic you want me to discuss please shoot me an email on my website to submit a request in the "contact" section!

Drink Fruit Juice For Better Thyroid Health (Here’s Why)

Is fruit juice worse than soda or is it actually healthy for your body and thyroid? I’m going to argue that every thyroid patient should drink it and here’s why: 1. Drinking it does NOT cause weight gain. Study after study show that drinking more fruit juice is associated with a leaner BMI. 2. Drinking it will NOT cause diabetes or insulin resistance. Meta-analyses show that 100% fruit juice consumption does NOT increase diabetes risk and has a neutral impact on blood sugar. 3. Fruit juice may h...

Dihydroberberine vs Berberine: Which is BEST For Weight Loss?

Berberine is a great over-the-counter supplement known for its benefits on weight loss, insulin, blood sugar, and even cholesterol. But if you spend some time looking around, you’ll notice that there’s a new formulation available: dihydroberberine. The formulation that most people use is known as berberine hcl, so how does this new form compare? In short, it’s probably better for these reasons: One small pilot study showed that a smaller dose of dihydroberberine was roughly 5x more effective tha...

These Hypothyroid Supplements Will Help You Feel Better

Do hypothyroid support supplements work? Absolutely, but only if you use the right ones. In my opinion, and based on my experience, here are the ones hypothyroid patients should be using: 1. Guggulsterone Guggulsterone has been shown in animal studies to promote thyroid hormone creation and iodine uptake thereby supporting the thyroid gland. It also happens to help with symptoms associated with low thyroid like high cholesterol. 2. T2 (3,5 diiodo-l-thyronine) As the only thyroid hormone availabl...

6 Causes of Low T3 Every Thyroid Patient Should Be Aware Of

All thyroid hormones are important for different reasons but if we are talking about pure power, T3 reigns supreme. Compared to other thyroid hormones, it’s about 100 times more active on the thyroid nuclear receptor which means that it does the majority of the heavy lifting. And because of its power, when T3 levels are low, you will feel T3. By my estimation, low T3 is probably one of the biggest causes of persistent low thyroid symptoms among patients with hypothyroidism and is often missed be...

Thyroid Belly Shape Explained (Get Rid of it FAST)

What is a thyroid belly? It’s the characteristic shape of the abdomen that many patients with hypothyroidism end up with and it’s caused by 4 things: 1. Visceral fat. Visceral fat is the fat that surrounds your organs. Thyroid dysfunction increases your risk for developing this type of fat. The more you have of it, the more it will push outward and cause a thyroid belly. 2. Subcutaneous fat. Subcutaneous fat is the fat that wiggles and jiggles and is found underneath your skin. This type of fat ...

How to Test For T2 Thyroid Hormone (Every Thyroid Patient Should Do This)

T2 thyroid hormone is a potent thyroid hormone and the only thyroid hormone available over the counter. For this reason, many thyroid patients have asked me how they can test their T2 level to determine if they would benefit from a T2 supplement. And while commercially available tests are not available for T2 right now, we do have a way to estimate T2 status in the body with the use of proxy measurements. These proxy measurements aren’t perfect, but they do seem to be fairly accurate based on my...

These 4 Hormones Make Weight Loss EASY

Which is more important for weight loss: hormones or calories? I would say, for most people, its hormones. This is because the majority of people are already pretty good about keeping an eye on their calories. And if calories were the problem, they would already have lost their weight. Both calories are hormones are important for regulating your weight but I’ve found that hormones become more important as you have more weight to lose. And calories become more important the closer you are to your...

Supplements PROVEN To Lower Thyroid Antibodies

It’s never normal to have elevated antibodies to portions of your thyroid gland floating around in your blood. The presence of these antibodies indicates that your own body may be trying to attack and destroy your thyroid gland and they are the hallmark of thyroid autoimmune diseases like Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and Graves’ disease. And, unfortunately, conventional medicine doesn’t have very many great treatment options for lowering these antibodies. But that isn’t a problem because it turns out...
