You're listening to the downbeat on ninety seven one the freak your mind all right? Coming up at We're gonna supports at seven thirty. Day mix it up a little bit. Eight o'clock, we were in the news again for something weird, Thanks Mike. We hit that at eight No problem. NBC five's tracking us or something very strange and it involves a lizard. I'll probably have more on the casey shooting a little bit later in the show. Sure we
can follow up on that. That is the most important thing in the world. We'd be fools not to keep people to breast. And I love that Sports is going to be at seven thirty because this opens the door for Kevin at seven. No, I'm not calling anything that ever a rhymes, but I do have a lot of crap. That's the hardest roles to the scuttle button. Right now. Your name's Kevin. I do enough leaning, Okay. So here's what's going on, man. Yesterday we talked about the coyote
thing. Two children attacked two at the park in Arlington. It's Central Park. Parkway at Central Park is what it's called. So they had to shut down the park. So they got there they're setting up traps, but they still couldn't find the f in coyote all right, And all of a sudden, this mom starts screaming, Oh my god, that dog just bit that kid. According to a lady by the name of es Trietta de Klutz, that's her name, she said, she called nine, went one, went
over to the little boy. The boy was crying in his whole shirt was filled with blood. She's week damn, and this what this just happened? Is this the one of what that's the reason of what happens? One of the just more details. So we got a witness, which I reached out to this lady to see if she would call in, and she didn't hit me back. How do you get everybody's number because they put their names in the It's very simple, really off air tricks of the trade. Did you
just have the Yellow Pages in your back? I actually keep the Yellow Pages? Is that why you have back problems? You're tearing around a phone book twenty four hours a day. It's good to having my car to sit on it, just to feel like I'm taller, you know, So, she said. The woman who was the mom of the kid that got bit by the coyote and Untin was also holding a baby. She then threw her shoe, okay at the coyote. That's the thing, you're going to help the
little boy. Seriously, who throws a shoe? Mom's you never had getting got hit by a shoe. So he went over to help the little boy. He was sitting next to the swings at the park whenever, and they still saw that coyote was just kind of hovering in the distance like watching us. Okay, So they were like, clearly, this coyote was not skittish like most Starns run off like. It was still kind of like pacing, looking them in the eye, which is wild. So they have that.
Now there is another report that's unconfirmed because they haven't trapped anyone, that there was a third kid that was bit. Okay, so we got a coyote that they can't find. They got traps set up, and we think it's the same coyote. They think it's the same one like Jaws. They got called to the park again. They think when they on Tuesday for the second bite. Not like Jaws, well a little bit like Jaws, honestly, coyote Jaws. Yes, Mangy Jaws. It could be done. They haven't
repurposed Jaws of all the reboots. That's like one they haven't done. Solve this problem, redo it with cool CGI. Solve this problem. That'd be the worst idea. Night vision sniper camp out for a couple of days. Coyote's gone gilly suit. I'm gonna mention a gilly suit every day this week. You got one more day? Yeah, easy, and knock it out easy? Get to did you? Was today's your first note? Yesterday? Okay? Because we talked about the snipers and how I stay on the move
when I'm pumping gas because you ain't gonna get me. And we've ever been in the crosshairs of snipers and not known it. But to get to three, you got to get to two, and we got to two. Yeah, sitting on two more drunk Travis Kelcey in a minute too, Geez, are you transitioning between stories right now? Now yet? Because let me know
when you are wink at me when you are. NBC five photo journalist Jan Rodriguez recorded a video of a coyote in front of some homes along the street in Lenton called Van Buren, and it's running through the park where children were walking home from school. So he thinks we got a picture of it like a coyote. It looks like a wolf. That's not like a coyote. Dog, that's a coyote all day. No, it's a coyote. But I'm just saying it's bigger than your typical that co kytie looks well fed of
a real scrum audio that he sounds like, I know that's him. Well, it's they don't. That's the thing. We need a coyote to blame. We need one to blame. But because he was like the sweetest coyote in the in Arlington right there, just hungry and like wants to help people. But we're like, that's him, that's the one. Let's all, let's all kill him. How do you know? Right? And you know, we get it. It's like there's a there's an episode of Parks and
Wreck that is about this. There was a possum that was tearing up the golf course. Okay, so they get Chris Pratt to go catch the possum track up with his bare hands, and they get it, but they got the wrong one. It's a big problem with animal control and the golfer's role mad. It's very good up, so you should get on that mic. It's a good one. I've never seen an episode. It's fantastic. Yes you you are, Ron Swanson. I think thank you because I think he's
It's the biggest compliment I've ever given. That very zoot. Another person, Thomas Sweta, His son was reportedly attacked by a coyote on Monday. He said, bad bite on the arm. The other one right at the ear. That went a little bit deep in the ear. Damn coyote. Some one, where's Kavanaugh to get the country boys on this case. His kid is four, celebrating his fourth birthday today at the hospital getting raby shots. God dang it, poor kid. Shout out to the kid if they're listening
in the hospital room. He said, Before I knew it, I saw the coyote pass me just right from behind me. So the kind is just sneaking up on people. Ninja. They chased it away from the sun and then took the picture of the animal and the animal looked down afreight. I don't know this during the light of day. Yeah, so brazen audacious, these Arlington coyotes. So three is it? Coyotes? Mike is it a
gang. I think it's one that could be wrong. I wonder because they're from Arlington, they kind of have like a Napoleon complex that they're just trying to flex to show that they're just as important as the Dallas coyotes. Yeah. Maybe someone walking by I was talking saying this was Dallas and that coyotes like, dude, this is Arlington. It bit him. Are you transitioning stories now? Do you have a t I don't. I don't know. If you have more on this, you can continue, but I have something
I want to do. Uh no, I'm good. We have a caller on the phone. JJ. Yeah. So we were talking earlier about where all these roses come from, and they come from Ecuador and how they get shipped in and what they cost, and I thought it was somewhat interesting. It's an interesting thing that you know, and it's a back cell to Valentine's Day and it's a backsell to Valentine's Day. We have a caller. It works in wholesale flowers and they're on the telephone right now. Hello Coller,
Hello, how are you? I'm good? How are you? I'm excellent? Thank you for calling in and thank you for listening to. My name is Mike, that's Kevin, that's Danny. What's your name? My name is Amy, Hi, Amy? So you work? So you heard us kicking around? Where all these flowers come from? It my little tom thumb. There was seemingly five tenth I don't know, five thousand flowers. We're
talking billions of flowers sold yesterday in the United States. From what we understand, they come from Ecuador and Colombia primarily, but we thought you might be able to shed a little light on that primarily that that's correct. We get most of ours from Ecuador. It is pretty incredible when I first started in the flower industry to think about how many roses there are growing in the world.
Yeah, yeah, that's exactly why we're kicking it around. And I yeah, so I know it's a massive industry there and it's kind of changed their nation. But they grow them, put them in some sort of frozen state, and fly them to all ports in the United States. Is that how that works? We get ours out of Miami. They are flown into Miami. I think that's probably only where and so then their truck to us.
We get trucks delivered. A couple of times a week. There are there's scent cut, mostly in bundles at twenty five that I'm sure that varies by different growers. What did you call that scent cut? No, I mean there's oh, they are scent cut, okay, gotcha, Yeah, as trees. But no, there's I mean there's scent. They're already cut. They're wrapped, like I say, in bundles of twenty five. The most common is box of one hundred, and that's how they're sent to us.
You know, I've sent JJ a picture of just palettes and palettes of boxes of roses. Yeah, we saw that. Incredible. Look, let me ask you this Amy rose expert here on ninety seven to one, the freak. Yeah no, not a rose expert, but I worked for a wholesale florist, and I just it's an interesting conversation to me. Okay, Well, the question is, in your best estimation, what is the length of time that the rose is removed from its host plant in Ecuador and arrives
to the floral shop ten days? Okay? Okay? And then you would say they last if watered and fed properly and you know, maintained in a home. Once the once the Valentine recipient receives this wonderful gift. They last another week or so maybe, yeah, yeah, they should. They probably get ten, ten days, twelve days if they're you know, if they're because you want to recut the stems, you want to give them flower food, they can last, they can last two weeks. Okay, that's interesting
to me. And you said the price we got was wrong because somebody said ten well tons on. You know what, I really can't get into like pricing because there's so many variables depending on what stem length you're getting. There's so many different varieties of roses. The prices are a little bit different. But ten cents, there's no way ten cents because think of everything that goes into They have to get transportation from the farm to the airport, the airport,
from the airport in Ecuador to the airport in Miami. Then that had from the airport to the trucking company. There's so much transportation costs involved in that to get here. I mean, just think of how much gas costs. It's a lot. Ten sense is there nobody's paying? Maybe there maybe that that article was inferring that the people are are selling them for ten cents from the source and they possible. Yeah, that's probably what that meant is
the growers. Right then, once all the transportation costs, and you know, everybody's a business, so everybody you know, marks up a little bit. And you know there's at the holidays, there's extra charges, transportation charges just because of the sheer volume of product that's getting moved. What's the rest of your day look like today? You're sleeping all day after? I wish. No, we still have a couple of you know, we're still working.
We still there's still people buying flowers even though it's past Valentine's Day. Do you jack up prices on Valentine's Day? We do not jack up prices. I mean we're making the same margin, but flowers cost more to get here, and they cost we pay more for them, so you know, it just all along the way. I don't think anybody adds extra at Valentine's Day, Roses just cost more. Interesting, Amy, you're great, thanks
for listening. And that's exactly who we're kick with you. We're dummies kicking around stuff and we have experts like you to call in and educate us. Like I say, not an expert, but it's an interesting it's an interesting conversation to me, and I heard y'all talking about it this morning. There you go, Thank you, Amy. Is there any other type of flowers you would recommend that are off the beaten path of the very popular rose?
Yeah, what's the next hot flower? More of an underground indie rock guy. Well, I don't you know, it's just it's all it's just all personal preference, I think. Okay, I was going for a petunia. Yeah, those you can get, you know, cut and sold, you know, at a florist. Petunias I think are more of a uh a plant that we're sorry about. Kevin, Amy, thank you for calling in. Amy are very sweet, Thank you for your time. Thank you, Bye bye. Here's Amy Man. You blew that at the end. That's
all right. He was great until the very end. I just wanted to give me some names of flowers. That was my question. Kevin named the two flowers that he knew outside of a rose, petunias and chrysanthemums. Boy, flowers are up there. Things I just don't understand. Yeah, it's cool, I'll help you. Sorry for hijacking Kevin at seven Continue now, Kevin at seven has got a lot of momentum. He's embracing it. But yeah, I hit something. We've actually we've meant to do this in the
first segment We're idiots. There was Amber ambroller this morning and JJ Walks Hatchy right with the Walks Hatchy. Did you see that on your phone? No? I saw it on the TV behind. Yeah, twelve year old Tanya Jackson. Tanya jack Jackson Jackson from Walks a hatch you that ringing a bell? No. Last scene yesterday day on Brianna Road near Too eighty seven and
Parks school House Road. That's out there. She's out there almost. I wouldn't say in the middle of no. Workers are building a lot, but yeah, five seven weighs about one hundred and seventy pounds, has black hair, brown eyes. This says a black girls five seven seven. It's just tall aka Tata. So what she goes by, Tanya goes by Tata. We were on a good run lately of neighbor alerts and being found like very far last two very quickly. We nailed one in Royce City and then we
got one in like up and Plane or something. So Walks of the hatche contact the walks a Hatchey Police Department if you have any information, twelve year old Tanya Jackson who goes by Tata. That's a tough one that's there. It's always tough. We had to hit it. We had to hit the amber of course. You know, if you hear anything, you know, I'll contact the police. But you can text in us whatever you know the number. I was on to this real quick because Jaja came in here.
It's roming into the studio to play a bit of a song that I already had something picked out for some music that's kind of shocked me a little bit. So I have two little music things I want to hit real quick. This is just great, thank you. Before I get to the to the big one that JJ just showed me. Do you guys remember this JJ creak me up? Please? Do you guys remember the Walmart yodeling kid? Oh? He was inside? Is it? I'll five at a Walmart? Should
do me? She's got the gun alve here? Where'd you go? Do you remember him? Yes? Mason Ramdas song. Okay, so then he gets he killed. He ends up doing a rema remix of Little nause X Old Town Road and gets a little bit of a pop in on that little cameo on that How old is he know? Well that that video is five years ago? That's it. This is what he said. Like now is he's got a new song coming out on March first? Hell yeah, Mason Ramsey is his name, and here is it's a fifteen second clip of a
song. Is all he's posted. There was a time there was magic in my mind. There are Henry is everywhere all right. That's it puberty, that's happening. That's a Gordon Lightfoot. Yeah he might be good. Yes, he's really good. And this kid like just kind of I mean, you know what happens when you get famous online real quick as a seven year old or whatever. However old he was, he's probably nine. Didn't he show up? It's on award show or something. He was on stage.
I don't know where. He should have had a music veest with the will Laws X one time. But he was dressed up with huge boots at a bowl tie and you know, tucked in at all seven on the soap ole at a Walmart. Cute as can be. Yeah, we like this kid. I love this kid. Is he a Texas boy? You know? I don't know where Mason Ramsey is from. Sounds like he grew up in a holler u, Illinois. He's seventeen. Now wow. So now JJ came in. There's this new Michael Jackson movie that they're you know, working
on, and his nephew, Jaffar is playing Michael in the movie. And Jafar has just released a bit of a song. And listen to how much of this sounds like Michael Baron such the perfect words, you say, make a true farms today, Casso Latin. Yeah, and Moss has come and say, man, genetics did this one? Thank got into? Aren't genetics crazy? Genetics and lifelong influence? You know, just being around that sound your entire life? It's I love it. How could he not sound like
Michael? Almost? Okay? This is he? That song was that is good for the movie? Like as something that's in the movie, or that's him actually releasing an album. What's a story on this? Guy? Don't know. It just popped up on Twitter. It's called the Rebirth of Michael. The song is I don't know if they're planning on using in the film. I don't know. He released a song back in twenty nineteen, but
he doesn't have a catalog or anything on Spotify. Dude, we have room for a descendant of Michael Jackson or family member and that's that's who Jermaine's kid, that's Jermaine's son. Yeah, and they and I mean obviously you know that Jackson is a big family. Yeah, a lot of kids, a lot of people in the family home. God, they're all tied musically somehow, like the nephews, they're all they They could have a damn Jackson five rebirth if they wanted, yeah, or one of them if ja'far as the
guy. There's an image of him because there's such because they're shooting in the movie now for us to like forgive, Yeah, there's an image of him as Michael, and it's very scary. Oh my goodness. Yeah, I think the world is ready for a pop star to take that, take the reins of that lane man, because you kind of have it a little bit
with maybe Bruno Mars Usher may have dipped into that a little bit. But he's you know, he's in his forties now, but a young star that can freaking sing and produce and dance and entertain anything else to Michael, and he's a member of Michael's family and kind of sounds a lot like him. That's going to be his breakout little man, great looking kid, Yeah, twenty seven years old. It's scary, big man, that's awesome. I want to hear more of that because that sounds really well produced too, and
get him whatever production help he needs. As far as songwriting, I don't know if he can or not. We were what an hour and a half into the Son of a Bitch. This is a freaking water cooler show today. What have you not? Ninety minutes We had a cop on to talk about the Kansas City shooting and offered insight on what it feels like to have tunnel vision and when the adrenaline dump happens, which makes you not even consider
collateral damage. We had an expert on to talk about the whole rose industry in importing roses from Acrono Valent actually get out of the ground on your counter, and an update on the coyote situation in Arlington. We made a brand new tune, two brand new tunes by the Yodeling Kid from Walmart and the next Michael Jackson, who is a descendant of Michael Jackson. You're listening to
other radio stations. You're a damn idiot, and we made you fifteen thousand dollars fifteen convincing you to about one hundred on Tiger Is to win this week. If you're listening to anything else, that's on you, bro, this is good stuff, And gals, you sleep peacefully at night. You give it a shot. I bet you wake up going damn it. I should have given him a better shot, you know what. I hope Fake Jerry for the three thousand time was good. The next two and a half hours
is gonna be better. So I'm gonna watch Danny eada banana during the break, listen to Mike talk about doctor Gold, and then we'll do sports at seven thirty. That's next. On ninety seven, won the Freak
