This is a downbeat. On ninety seven to one the Freak eight o'clock, we'll have the winner of one of the most popular game shows in America. She won the whole thing two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. What's it like looking to rob those eyes and win? Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Eight thirty Dingoose Morning News nine o'clock. Sportspot FM joins us live in studio for the second time, and at nine thirty your chance to win Burke Kreischer

tickets if you can guess what is Smiley Kaufman's crush crutch phrase? Still can't say it? Smiley Kaufman on the golf broadcast of the day. So this is something you just heard him say a few times. Jesus, are you gonnaive him clues or they have to guess. We'll play the audio and you'll know in the forty seconds of audio if you can pick out what his crutch phrase is. Okay, it's amazing. I think they'll be able to. It reminds me of a long time there's a crutch phrase I remember, Mike.

This is a long time ago when we worked at a different station. And you were the I think the phrase was do what. I love when people say do what, do what? Do what? That means say it again, didn't hear you? Yeah, well I figured that out over the years. I kind of know what it means. It is sort of catch all, though it works for a lot of different things. Do what do what? I don't say, do what? What? Do you say when you need somebody to repeat something? I remember I was in the Air Force

in Tucson, Arizona. I'm not saying it's the first Textan I ever met, but my neighbor was a Texan and he did use do what do what? They will? And I remember thinking, what the hell? Do? What the hell's going on? Strange strange people, strange people. Now you're one of us. I don't know if they think I'm one of them them. I try to be. We're Texans from Sarasota, Florida, and Boston, Massachusetts, the real Texans right over here. Yeah. Were you born

in Fort Worth, Archer City? You're born? They have a hospital in Archer City. I used to I was one of the last baby you just like birthed over a storm grate some say, as Larry McMurtry and walk the great will catch him or not. Okay, let's respect my mother a little more than that. Has nothing to do with your mom. We're talking about you, talking about your sweet mom. She's a part of the process. I would stand, but look, I'm not. Look, it's about the

options that are available for birthing. Yeah, it's and Archer generally, which tall halls is where you'd go if you have any money. We didn't have any money at the time, so Archer City one of the last babies born there, some say the last baby born there. But as hard as nobody, says former author Larry McMurtry, who wrote the great book Lonesome Dove, and that was about you want some doves about me, whole things about me. It makes sense. Lonesome and I am kind of like a bit of

a dove. And we'll buy some soap that is dove soap. Okay, it's just you should have stopped before he started, you know, my old Uh, this is not a good Monday. We're not off to a good spot. I said we're gonna kick this month, this whole week. The we're in position, but lp lot of sword is just holding it up. There, and the clock's taken down. Why get a heat check after the quacker's joke? That get a heat check here and there? He does have the joke of the day, feather in his cap right now? He does.

He's very good. But the heat check was a freaking air ball that just sailed into the fifth row. But you do it. How many throwaway possessions have we seen? Luca knocks down the two threes in a row, and then he lines up from half court launches one miss Luca. You know Luca, only Luca on this station works afternoons. Yeah, to ask who are you? Who am I? I like, I'm Maxie, I'm Kareem. Oh he's not on the maps, Kareem. Why I didn't know the rules, Kevin? I think it was clear what the rules were. Just

sky hooks all day, every day. None of them are like the greatest highlight you've ever seen. But it just points on points on points until you have an undeniable career. Sky hooks and really detrimental halatosis plus a little Hollywood flair movies. Yeah, I'm definitely Tim Hardaway Junior. Like once a month I'll show up and make like eight threes and the rest of the time. My line's like one for nine. Yeah, that's a great one. Yeah, like once a month, like dude, all rights. Actually I like

having him and then I just disappear. And then right when you're like, you know what, done with this, I'm done. Swish just single handedly saves the game his skin. Josh Green the cocaine kangaroo. Some days he doesn't play, Yeah, coaches decision. The days that he looks like he's electrocuted himself with a stair, that would be a funny. What maps are we? Yeah, because you have like just the right amount of people on the roster right pretty much. I don't know, God, I'd love to

be gaffered. I might be a gaffer type, new guy to Texas for twenty years. They're all, I mean, some of them are all new to Texas. Okay, let's just do the scinn bus. Just do anything else? Do anything else? Is it breaks truck? Yeah? Man, nothing piques my interests like an armor vehicle. That's good. I'm gonna tell you the Brinks truck story in foreman, because you know that the Brinks truck

story is showed up at bakery. Got the week's receipts. Everything went fine, loaded them up, delivered them to the bank, and everybody was happy. Yeah, smooth operation. We'll give it to you in a minute. But advanced hair restoration was like, we should start with that UTV story. And I think this is a little interesting. Maybe it's maybe I care about a little bit more because UTD is within about two streets from where I live, you know, so it's real close to me. I'll live within a

mile of UTD. They had a situation where awesome. That's twenty year old student who was reported missing on February twenty fourth. He was found dead like this week, so he'd been missing. People were looking for him, and they now shared on a Facebook post on Saturday that Andrew Jiao Lee was sophomore, was found dead and there's nothing more. They've said his death is under investigation. His body was not found on campus. They do not believe there's

a threat to the university or community. Now, doing some internet sleothing, I saw that there have been this year nine reported deaths at UTD. No, here's the thing. Some of those deaths include like teachers, faculty members, right just old age, old age right on the or maybe on one of those. Maybe that could have been another reason. But I think one of them was eighty years old. But who's still teaching at eighty though not many? Kevin Well, I don't know. Maybe swa you love what you

do? Yeah, I don't know. I said eighty. I said these are some of these are unarmed. But this was a like if that counts as a UTD person who died, Okay, nine is not that big a deal. Keep mind, this is a small school in Richard. And there was an unnamed student found dead in a car on February twenty fifth, no foul play suspected. They had another one who died on February ninth after a

motorcycle crash off Cooit, So there's three. There was the kid who stole the aircraft from Addison Airport right and then crashed it and they think killed himself, although some people don't believe that he did, but we played the cockpit audio and he basically said he was going to do it. So and there's a few more, and it makes it's opened up a little bit of discussion about, Okay, what's going on at UTD? Is there something weird going

on? And I was just kind of reading some comments from people talk about that who go there, and it's just this just me taking in the internet. It's nothing more than that. I'm not reporting anything here, but like they were talking about, like, you know what, it did rank in the top ten unhappiest campuses because maybe not a lot to do, and maybe

it's just you're there. A lot of people who go there are on academic scholarships and maybe a little more introverted, so maybe not getting out and meeting people, and maybe there's some challenges there. What are okay, what's the main course of study at UTD? Is it? Is it medical? Is it technical? Is it? How to get to ut Austin? I wanted to just say science, but I don't know. I think it might be nursing or medical. Maybe it's very possible. They're the comments though, so

that makes me think science. They're the comments. Yeah, the UTD comments. I've never heard that in my life. This is something that I read here and there were computer and Information sciences that's their most popular majors, or Computer and Information sciences, Biology, biological sciences, psychology. This is just a theory from someone medical and tech who goes there. And they said, we don't know any of the more recent deaths or suicides, but UTD is

in the top ten most unhappy campuses. I think you get a different college experience with other universities. There's no football games, no massive party life is depicted on social media or in movies, no school spirit. They don't have much when it goes to teams. I mean, it's basically a standalone online course, right, I mean brick and mortar online course. No, I mean, like have you I don't know anything about it. It looks big and nice, it really does. And I don't even know how many people

go there now, but I'd imagine it's over twenty thousand people. I could be wrong, because that's that's twenty nine five and forty three is of twenty nineteen. Okay, that's way more than I thought, so a lot of people. Man, that's a big ass college. And maybe what a good portion of that probably is online? You know people who don't do that. But it is a bigger The University of North Texas only has forty I mean not only that's I think that's a big school. Forty thousands. This is

big. Yeah, so you get thirty thousand. Wow, do you know this. I was just wondering this the University of Texas system because this is all sort of under the umbrella in some way of the University of Texas like U T is. So there's eight University of Texas system schools, do you know what they are? And Arlington? So we have ut Arlington and U t D fort Worth. There's a San Antonio. I believe there's there is a San Antonio. You know there's a u Tephi Okay, Oh, I

never put that to I thought that was a totally separate school UTEP. University of Texas El Passa, absolutely, there's Austin obviously, Rio Grand Valley absolutely, yeah, Rio Grand Valley No? Or no? How many are we down Houston? You owe me two Woodlands? Yeah, you're just saying names of I think there's is there, there's spread out? Is there Amillo? Nope? The University of Texas at Tyler Tyler, Okay, yeah, that's right, and then Permium Basin All right, that's right. And that's eight.

And that's interesting. Apparently there's seven university systems in Texas, University of Texas being one, and then yeah, I didn't know. So there's a University of North Texas system. Yeah they have more than Denton. No, they don't have more than Denton. That's just their own little thing, right, Yeah, well you and T though has schools. Now there's U and T Dallas and things like that, Okay, little satellite schools. Yeah, UTD has three times the enrollment of SMU. That's crazy, right, and

probably a lot of that online. But still, well, you know, the campus is bigger than I ever thought it was. My brother went there, so like, you know, he didn't it didn't like he got his classes and got out, like he wasn't there for four years. Where my guy's also a genius. So where would you guys have gone? If you could go to you could go enjoy whatever that means and have the degree from I guess what where would you choose? And which Texas college is the most

beneficial? Obviously infinite amounts of different directions your life could go. But is it RICE or SMU? Are those the most Are those the two most prestigious prestigious Texas Okay, first of all, it's like you're not allowed to answer if you went to one of the schools because everyone will always say they're alma mater, Right, I don't think anyone. But I don't know. I don't think of SMU like that, should I? Yeah? I just think of them as the death penalty school. Well, so you think of things

simply. I think SMU is a good place you want to go if you want to be a lawyer. You're UNC football on saturdays here on the freak. You're over here taking shots people. You guys are not even mentioning TCU. That's a damn prestigious college, too, is it. It's hard to get into. I think so. SMU's acceptance rate is like fifty percent, whereas utd U and T is up near eighty. Damn. But TCUs a

small school too. I mean it's the same size as SMUU, and their accepted rate is just maybe a couple percentage points higher than SMU is a little over fifty. And they have money because they're good at sports, they're very good at sports, or they're good at sports because they have money. Did you want to go to like UT? I had to, I feel like most that's the realistic choices. Yeah, and it was Oklahoma State or here

or U and T. I had made up my mind. I wanted to go to U and T real quick, not to be too far away from home, but I wanted to be far enough away from home in clash of the Metroplex. It just made so much sense. So I went there, and I knew the history of radio guys. I feel like, as a complete outsider, I would have if you give me every option, I think I would have taken University of Texas. But that's from factoring in Austin, you know. And and that's a scene and fun. I think I will

tell you this. I know for a fact. I arrived in Texas, moved all my stuff U Haul Texas, and it wasn't until after I had moved into the village that I heard the words University of North Texas. Just let you know, I mean just for information, yes, like Florida whatever. And I followed sports. Sure, I had never heard of the University of North Texas. They were non existent, you know at that point too. They had very little sports history. Yeah when I went there too.

In my five years of college there, they I think won one home game in football, like yeah, maybe two, Like it wasn't a lot. We had a guy, go ahead, Danny, sorry, I had nothing. Well, there's a guy in Matthew who went to Utd's. I think you wanted to elaborate. He just called in. All right, so welcome to the freak Matthew High. What do you got hey, guys? Are you good? So? U T Dallas is mainly computer science in the business school. I mean, campus life is a little it's a little rough.

It's it's mostly international students and scholarship kids. So you go, or you teach, or you live near. How do you know this? No? I graduated from there in twenty nineteen. My wife and I both went there. Okay, is there they have like dorms and as you said, there's not much of a campus life. Do they have any like on base housing? There? There is campus living as far as dorms. You're not required

necessarily to live there like other colleges are. There's apartments that flank it on basically all four sides, and that's where a lot of the students live. At that time, we were living in McKinney, so we just traveled. It's a very travel oriented school. There's a lot of students from Dallas and McKinney and playing know that just drive there and go home every day like we did. I feel like this might be for like every college. I think

maybe I'm just being too much of a simp here. They're not a school who's trying to be good at sports, and a lot of these schools just want to be good at sports so they get more money coming in. If you're good at a couple of different sports, football obviously being the main one, then that can fund so much for university, and UTD is not trying to do that. So they're not worried about a campus life. They're not worried about how your experience is there and how many friends you made there.

It's not about that. It's about getting your degree and getting into the workforce asap. That's what that's my thought. I don't know, I could be wrong. You are totally right on I think at one point in time we had a I don't know if you'd call it a championship, but we were champions and chess and cricket. That was it. There's no there's no football team. Soccer and basketball are pretty good, but not bringing the money. No, no, no, all the money is from research grants. Yeah.

Well, Matthew, thank you for your time this morning. We appreciate it. Man, Sure, no problem. I'm Matthew Brinks truck story. Rock Think I did rock. I think I was cool. I had no interest in college. I didn't want to go to college. I just went to move. Yeah, yeah, yeah, And I showed North Texas with Kevin. We went to go room maybe baby, Kevin. Kevin, did you live on campus where one year Clark Clark Hall? You're Clark? Get that stuff to me. Oh, I wasn't in Clark, but I had

to eat lunch at Clark. Yeah, because my my dorm didn't have a cafeteria. I was. I was in Kendle. You Kendall was in the freaking r O t C dorm. Oh my god, no air conditioning. None. There were two at the time. This was you know, night the Fall of nineteen eighty six, Kendall and Bruce. Bruce Hall was the musician's dorm. That's the one that I wanted to be in. But I got placed in e fing Kindle with a bunch of r OTC military people,

which is fine but actually really cool people. But at first I'm like, what they they're putting me, you know, with Niedermeyer and the rest of those guys from Animal House. I don't want to be in that group. Did you ever hook up? Gee? It's what's what? Assault with a friendly weapon? Battle ground? That campus was But no, I had a blast that but I only lasted one one semester. Yeah, yeah, and I quit go back. I don't want I don't like school degree. Yes,

Danny, let's be all in, let's get let's do it. Yeah, Danny bail is all in twenty twenty four. Oh I like that. Let's get the signs. Yeah, but Kendall haul homie no ac Yeah, yeah, yeah. You ain't adding this segment without this Brink story, So go have sixty seconds. I have it. The video surface on Dallas,

Texas TV the other day, and it's a Friday. It's a man pulling the pants off of a Brink security guard and that gun at gunpoint because they took the gun from the Brink security guard took his shoes off, so he shouldn't get his pants off. Like it was a big struggle, all right. So he gets out of a black Chevy Malibu, points his weapon at the guard, and the cell phone video shows the robber pulls the guard's pants down, then starts to yank his pants off. He also grabs the gun

that was holstered and then takes off. Meanwhile, the security guards laying on the ground next to an ATM at a Chase bank now in Yes, and investigators think like he followed the guard on his route, followed the Brinks truck driver. He's just getting out doing his job, and then got him right then, and then made sure that he was unclothed, so he can't retaliate or anything. He's gonna stumble over his pants. He didn't have a gun anymore. Anyways, it doesn't matter. It's kind of genius it is.

He got away. And this was in the light of day with traffic and people, pedestrians walking by. I mean the footage that we saw was it some you know, surveillance camera. It was somebody on their phone feet away from the whole situation. Crazy, very brazen. How much bread did he get? It's at a large sum of money that we don't know. And until you would find him, how are you gonna know how much it was? Right, and I saw the video, you couldn't tell. I didn't

think he had like a mask on or anything. You couldn't tell, but it didn't appear to be covered. So maybe if someone has another. All you saw was that one cell phone video. But just dallastick to TV to get stuff, sit to them or they find it whatever they are killing. Yeah, they aggregate everything. It's a wild scene. If you watch the video and you feel bad for the poor Brinks guys, you're doing his job and he gets pants, you know, probably gets in trouble. Don't They

usually have a two for policy. You don't two guys. I thought that was the case. But maybe if you're just one guy, if you're just robbing ATMs, I mean, or you know, collecting money from ATMs, then that's maybe it's just a one man up. But maybe there's some corner cutting going on. Like, hey, Manna, I'll handle this. You go get us a couple of Chick fil A sandwiches. Oh that sounds good. Are you gonna get some right now? No, I'm not. I'm just saying, what if the other guys like, I want a spicy,

I'll take two regulars. I love those waffle fries ordering anything, Yeah, yeah, we'll split a waffle fries. I don't want too many fries. Two regulars for me, one spicy for Danny, one waffle fry for the both of us and whatever JJ want you can do on your own app and a large Mac and chee for the table. Yes, Kevin, get us food. Hurry up, damn it. The season one winner of the Floor on Fox two hundred and fifty thousand dollars, richer Jackline calls in next to ninety seven one, the Freak,
