Good morning at your plex. You're listening live to the Downbeat Monday January twenty ninth, twenty four of Kevin Turner with Danny Baylist, Mike's Roy and J J. Jackson. We will have all your football stuff at seven. Luca went for seventy three. My god, talk about that at eighth. So this is a BEG influencer in town. I'll talk about him at nine for a little bit, his food influencers in town. He's already reviewed one restaurant, didn't give it high reviews. Sure, it's an odd situation that we

need to follow here at now and more a big week. We've got snl Legen, Chris Catan on this week, guys. We do we have a next level chef contested calling in on Thursday, guys, and maybe back Door teen Mom fair Abraham later in the week. Somebody's had a weekend of booking. I spent the fifteen minutes of daily fishing and I ended up reading about a Florida social media bill that Backdoor team Mom fair Abraham has waged in about. So you know, I was like, hey, let's talk about this

bill. Back Door teen Mom, Okay, yeah, do you need to refresh her on who that is. I really don't know, despite knowing most of Danny's porn references that he drops a lot. Well, she got famous for she was obviously on those teen Mom shows, you know. I think she got famous on that. And then in order to make a little bit of money, he turned into backdoor teen Mom, and I believe it was Dane. Is his name Dane? So not octomom. No, not octamom

that came up. No, she just did a solo thing. Do you remember when MTV used to run those when when they got into reality programming, kind of the post video I guess like Beavis and butt Head was kind of the the conduit to that somehow, and then you just hard pressed to find videos anymore on MTV and it was all this like reality programming. They had one called teen Mom and she was on it, you know, a young mother trying to raise a kid. And then a number of years later she

got into adult adult film world. Well, and she started on MTV's sixteen and Pregnant. Ye, then that title of a show the spin off was teen Mom, then teen Mom. Because she was so good, the story couting end there, it can't had to continue but then in UH thirteen or said about ten years ago, she went ahead and made some money doing a video called Backdoor teen Mom because the front door was locked. Yeah, I said, Dane James Dean would have been the star who has no James Dean

of course. So the point is she's weighing in on a big there's a big bill in Florida that's happening involving the idea of not letting kids have social media. Okay, and she's got she's thirty two, she's got a sixteen year old daughter, and she's like, it's wrong our kids there are Instead of policing the kids on social media, how about stuff the adults like why

are grown men dming my daughter asking for feet picks? Maybe police those people, now, are you not the sixteen year old who's just on Twitter trying to have a life and keep up with our friends. The sixteen year old would not be on Twitter. They would be on Instagram or Snapchat or TikTok. But I think I actually think it's a good argument. How about crack down on the creeperzoids, not the sixteen year old that's just trying to have a social media app with their friend. I mean, I'd like to let

her. I'd like to give her. I doubt that Florida is just stopping cracking down on creeperzoids. No, I think both things can exist, right, Yeah, but it is wild, Like I mean, think about how social media has thrived off the use of people under the age of eighteen using it. No doubt, it's wild that Florida And this is a bill that hits on Wednesday. I believe where kids can't be on social media anymore under a certain age. I don't know the specific restrictions and read the whole bill.

That's why she's in the news. And that's why I offered her a carrot if she would like to call in. And did she respond, no, not a Oh you know, it's not even close to being up in the fish We don't even have a fish on. No. No, we're just standing there on the side of the waiver bank. You know, these things work. I can't understand why she wouldn't want to come on these airwaves and appeal to all of the Texas voters. Yeah, yeah, to make

sure this Florida bill gets denied. In my email, I did say something to the point of, you know, this is something I could see coming up in Texas soon, So it would be great to get your input, you know, something to make her feel important. Tie it so tweet at no, don't. Yeah, all the people tweet at fair Abraham tell her to come on the downbeat that we're good, good, healthy, innocent men. Did you tell her that on our show we had front door forty year

old dad on that that's from Florida. I told her that none of us have teenage children, so would be it'd be an incredible perspective. And it is sitting in her in box still. I think she's deleteed app. They just deleted it. Can you right? It's felt that inside just she just woke up and deleted it. Do you guys watch football today? Yep? It's for good right, yeah, yeah, it's a great good time.

Huh, what else do you guys do? Maybe we'll have an intro to talk about all we did this weekend some crap, some crap over the weekend, and we're going to talk about it now on crab. Hello. You ever get here and then the weekend crap and you're like, what the hell did I do this weekend? No? Just now, I never do that just now. Yeah, like did I do anything? Like I did a bunch of stuff, but like Friday, I don't know, like five pm on Friday, okay Friday, Wait, Friday was Luca Night. Yes,

Friday was Luca Night seventy three. Okay, we won't talk about that here in a little bit. Yeah, I did a string with my brother. He was opening up his cards collectible network. But fun, we have some whiskey and make some jokes that they did go to MAVs game Saturday night. That was a low energy affair, not fun, like almost not fun at all. It was weird. It ended up relatively close because they just kept trying to like it's their way back, but no, not fun. Did

it kind of feel like gross? That Like it was almost like I guess Luca doesn't have to play forty five minutes. Yeah, he's gonna play forty five minutes night and we're gonna lose. I do a lot of prize Picks. I don't bend and skin talk about prize picks a lot. I might be telling people about Prize Pick pretty soon because I do play it pretty much every day. And what I couldn't believe is I you know, I like to bet on the MAVs game one or another. It's usually like Derek Lively,

who's they got it about eight points. I'm like, all right, if Luca's playing, I feel like Derek Loveley's gonna get to eight because there's three alley oops right there, there's six. You need to manufacture one bucket. But watching Luca's point total over under every day is interesting, and it's usually thirty three, thirty four, and then it keeps ticking upward, you know, like, dude, as good as he is, Like, I don't think he's gonna score. He's not gonna average thirty five a night,

you know. And after that seventy three point game, I was going to the game the next night and they set his over under it forty points. Whoa. I'm like, dude, that is such an over correction. So I hammered Luca under forty points. I'm like, he could have an excellent game twenty eight, seventeen and ten. Yeah, that's good, really good, but nowhere near forty. But me and Cash talked about it, like the whole walk to the AAC or like forty. He can't do it,

you know, like it doesn't make sense. And the very first possession, they win the tip, kick it to Luca. He shoots a three as an airball short. We kind of look at each other, not at it. Yeah, exactly like where genius. It had the legs and the tired, very tired unders coming in. But do you go to go seven for three or something like that Saturday? So he still had an incredible game, dude, that's the way that's him. Beat, I mean beat and tired.

He'll hang a triple double on you. It's like one hundred points in twenty four hours. Also, and I should know who it is is it might be Zavala. I'm not sure. So I Cash has a Sweet Night every year for his business because I work with the Mavericks, right, and every year it's there's booze, good booze. But food wise, you're looking at Tendy's and a sad hot dog that looks like it was at a gas station, your standard catering food. Yeah, we get in there this time,

dude. They bring in this mountain of barbecue, briskets, sausage, ribs, what the heck? I looked it up and I think it might be Zavala Barbecue of that somebody who has a store now at the AAC, and it trusts me this did not come from just a whatever regular kitchen was. Well, I hope it was Goldies, I don't know, brisk It was excellent. And I never had high end food in the suite. Usually it's just you know, fair food. Those Tend's will get you too,

and they're fine. But Tendi's and ranch and whatever. You're paying for a sweet you know, and then you got to pay for all that on top of it. But good god, the game has been upped because they brought in a mountain of sweet beef. You remember the story of me and mister Chad going to see Steely Dan at the AAC and we it was like one of those things where it's like right after work, you don't have time to

stop and get food. It's like, I will just get something at the arena, and we both ordered ten D's and left the show in the middle of the encore, running across the plaza back to where I used to work, where we all used to work at one point, because it was literally fifty feet from the entrance to the AAC was about fifty feet to the side entrance to the ticket ran to that entrance with my key fob in hand, holding our stomachs, racing to the nearest bathroom. Yeah, and we both

of us. It hit us both at the same time. That day has That type of sickness is now known, does the steely dan flu. That's when you over and bibe on nuggies at the aac on bread and tends. There's a lot of bread. Yeah, and they're fine. It was all a is mic Okay. They're based out of Grand Prairie, Okay, And I know we were raking very high. In fact, I actually have their rub. I have their bird rub. If I'm ever doing some chicken or something, yeah, I'm about the air fry. Yeah. Well, I've

read about Zallace for a long time. I've never been, so that was actually the first time I'm actually eating. That's cool that you got like legit Q and not arena barbecue. No, I get it. They have to mass produce that stuff, and it's probably not the highest most expensive grade of food. So it's cool to have like an independent you know. The first time I knew that happened, it was so good. Anyway, that's kind of it. Then I watched a roller rumble. Yeah, woke up yesterday

and watched football all day. We're on the Royal rumbling twenty minutes. Damn right. One of us lost a bet, but they want that a funny bet. Danny, go ahead. I told you there's no point in me telling you what I did this weekend. I had dinner with a friend on Saturday, buddy of mine and uh in the neighborhood. Okay, okay, and uh after that, I've spent time working on something. I didn't have sex. It was a dude. I thought that that wouldn't have been okay.

Yeah, yeah, we like all flavors on the down beat every morning. Six ninety seven won the free I am sitting a little awkwardly today, but unrelated you are. Yeah, I didn't get the fire. I'm not going to tell you what I did on Saturday because one, why don't you renow? I wrote on the text thread, because everybody's out partying somebody invariably over the weekend. And yes, we have a freak text group of all the people that work up here, I think on air producers, everybody.

And there was a text that went out. There was an open invitation to go join some folks for some drinks out, and everybody starts piling in with excuses on why they're doing this exciting stuff. Christina is doing a rock coNP Oh yeah, I was at the Mavericks game. We're all, you know, just strewn about the Metroplex doing amazing thing. So we can come here

and talk about it and talk about how great our area is. And then Danny I texted in and said, I'm at home trying to figure out how to custom make the synthesizer pad for Everything in its right place by Radiohead at eleven o'clock and I stayed up until two doing it, and then I quit and got up the next morning at nine and worked on it for three more hours. Ye, but I got it. Is it just for the just this sound of the synthesizer, so this, oh my god, okay,

real quick. So this synthesizer is from a like seventies or eighties vintage analog synthesizer called a prophet, and they're like ten grand if you want to get one, but there are you can replicate it with a basic synthesizer interface and it's you have to adjust a bunch of stuff and it's got to be just the right way. And I found some tutorials online and I'm figuring it out and downloading some software. But I got it. That's an artist at work

on a Saturday night. That's nothing different than reading a book. And no, I know it's not. It was. It was a night in and it was either that or or Binge watched the rest of Griselda. Oh yeah, which is good. Did you finally figure it out? Everything in its right place? I did? Really. I play the hell out of it too now really all day yesterday before footy m hm. That was That was my Saturday night, guys. I'm sure the Metroplex is riveted with synthesizer talk.

I'm a freaking dork. Yeah, that's cool. I did tons of cocaine, get laid a bunch. Hey. I watch Hoppenheimer What Yeah, Friday night the first two hours, and then Saturday morning I watched the last hour. Okay, split ship. I had to split it. It was getting to the point of okay, because you gotta pay attention. That's my first of all. I kind of loved it. Yeah, and I would watch it if I were. I'm so glad I didn't get held hostage at

a theater though, and I know it's a movie. You got to see it in a theater, and I support going to the theater, Oh I do, But man, Dad is long. It's so much a lot of information and not a ton of context that it is And did you feel uneducated about I felt bad about it. It's such a World War two blind spot for me. It made me feel stupid. I was like, God, did I not know more about me too? I have really, But you

know what, this is a theory going around. If it's true or not, I can tell you all about the Battle of Pla lou in the Pacific. This story is I know nothing about the making of the atomic bomb. This story allegedly does not get told with that. Robert Pattinson. Robert Pattinson worked with Chris Nolan one one time. I'm not sure what movie. There's a There's a whole Path where Robert Pattinson was talking to Christopher Nolan about Oppenheimer

might have been before Tenant. Yeah, and that's where Christopher Nolan's mind started going, Oh, I should do something on that, and then he started. So Pattinson was on an Oppenheimer kick. He had to read a book or something, and that's what inspired Christopher Nolan to that's the there's a rumor. I don't know if it's true or not. Is that A know these

people? You knowed nuclear physicist Robert Pattinson from the Twilight saga, and I haven't seen an interview where Christopher Nolan says that Robert Pattinson is the guy that sent him down that wormhole. But it was there's like a loose connection to this apparently. I like this. It's it's really it's really good. It's definitely worth watching. And now I get it. I get while it's gonna

win awards and stuff, it's can it be? Because in movies that are three hours long, that's a three hour movie that feels like a nine hour movie because you know, it's jumping back and forth in time and there's a lot going on. And they see it again the score going behind the movie to keep the movie going, because without that score in the background almost like

bad music. Sometimes to conversations that help provide a little energy, you are sitting there kind of going, wait, what are we talking about right now? You ever have not seen it, Mikey not? Okay, let me ask you this, Kate, do you think that this movie is Getting All has Gotten All the buzz is one of the top probably three candidates to win

Best Picture. Is it because it's a great film or is it because the voters want to be on the right side of history by documenting something so important that happened and for that generation in American history to make sure that it goes down as this thing that we can go back to twenty thirty, forty fifty years from now and a little bit of that and have that historical relevance to

it. Because I wonder how much pressure they have to get it right as far as voting goes, you know, like, yeah, this is this

that we got to get this right, guys. I mean, but if they cared about that and Greta Gerwig when I got snubbed for Barbie as the director of Barbie, like, I mean, that's wild that the director and female lead in Barbie didn't get nominated by them l lead actor did and Ken the way I was because it's two three plus hour movies, but very popular Killers of the Flower Moon three plus hours did not feel like three plus hours, and I also enjoyed it more. But I think Oppenheimer's the better movie.

Does that make sense. Yeah, yeah, did you pay for Oppenheimer? Uh? Huhs it on? It's Weston hillans. I couldn't hear what your answer was. Did you get it at the mom and pop video store? No? Did you go behind the curtain into the secret room in the back. Didn't You haven't been the secret room, and you're going to need to. I know, damn pirates. But you liked it. It's better than you uh, overall, like a more enjoyable experience. Did you wake

up like cool? I want to see the end of Oppenheimer? It does suck you in, like after the because you'll spend the first fifteen twenty minutes going okay. Should somewhat have warned me? Is there like a quick little

pre of you I could have got? I would have loved Christopher Dolo or someone give me three minutes before the movie starts, because you're sitting there, go I don't understand why we're doing this, and there are still parts of it I don't understand, and I will eventually go, you know, look at some stuff on Wikipedia or read about it somewhere and find out a little more, like why are they in a trial right now? But it's great and the performances are awesome. A couple weird things, though. I have

one scene that I just want to bring up. They cut to a scene where Killy and Murphy and Florence Pugh are sitting in a room. She's kind of his mistress at this point, and they're both just sitting in a chair naked, across from each other in a room. I just didn't know if that was needed. Great to see naked people, but I was just like, that's not a real thing that happens in life, Kevin. It was a snapshot of a post quital connection. Yeah, just melting away, just

basking in the sinewy, glistening. It's not something that would ever happen. Yeah, it does happen. No, it doesn't. You never lay there writhing. They're not laying they're sitting upright in chairs like this across the room from a cigarettes, which, like you and I imagine you and I both being naked right now, because you're across the table from me and we're doing the show just naked. We be fine with that. I would too, but it's not a casual thing that would actually happen. I'd be all right

with one. So g D cold in here. Yeah, and the three of usm just make love. Yeah, you need more, get confident, and they were making with your body. They were slang demons. You're scared for your feet even to be exposed in a shower, and you were shower socks that none of us can find online. I found something, and don't think that's not flashing on my list of things to talk about whenever things go south around here. You guys can enjoy your pneumonia. I'll be safe.

I've never had pneumonia, and I've never worn footwear and a shower except well, at one time. I have two times where I've worn footwear and a shower, like the public gym had some shower shoes. Yeah, but as far as like at home, No, you should think about it. I did, and I immediately stopped thinking about it. Unless you've had zero resolutely, your carpets aren't clean. Well he has. Well, that's the first true thing you said all day, Kevin, the first of many. If

you missed it last week, we morning Truthers the Downbeat. Well, the morning Truthers were on the case again as we uncovered the forgotten Dallas boy band loads for you. So on the same handle the regional success of leads for you. Yeah, the mid mid Cities boy band that was formed by a Mexican restaurant tour. He couldn't even walk past that A shocks on Greenville. Uh yeah, what was the name of the They rocked it so hard that day. I think about it every time I'm down there. What was the name of the So the guy put him together. This guy that wanted the dreams. Yeah, yeah, guy that wanted to be a music producer. But he owned a

bunch of Mexican restaurants and I think they were called Taketo Dreams. Yes, yeah, all closed too. Yeah, this is the real time. Yeah. After the HJ suicide, the owner was such you know, and such a mental anguish that he just let the businesses go completely under. He served as last Taketo. So the HJ passed the breakout stars Nick Kreamer, and he no doubt, I hadn't done anything in twenty damn years, And he

was back next week and we world premiered it. This is You've Got a Place by Nick Kreamer, which we debuted for you last Friday here on the down Meat in case you missed it.
