You're listening to the downbeat on ninety seven to one. The freak. Someone just textas and there's one hundred texts coming about the Cuban thing. We're just talking about just a sea of interesting angles and you know whatever, and then freak Jesus just in the right in the middle of the sea of Cuban thoughts. Is y'all think sex with Britney Spears is wild? Or you think she's like a vegetable and then more Cuban Cuban Cuban I think fished, given the
knives, she loves knives of it, not like wild and great? Probably not, you know, That's why he said, probably sad. Yeah, it's sad where you're like, says as du Alipa's probably yeah, it's probably sad too honest for I wonder if any celebrity sexes truly wild. I mean, saw him, I'm sure, but Lizzo yeah, well two one four, oh, she talks about it. Sex with Brittany yeah your now. Uh. We'll jump back into the incredible news that apparently Mark Cuban is selling
the majority steak in the Dallas Mavericks. I will touch on it in the Morning News at eight thirty, but you have Tim Cato from the Athletic and to jump on with us for a few minutes and fill in any blanks that we have, as we all probably have more questions and answers at this point than New just broke yesterday afternoon. We'll jump into that a little bit here. Scuttle Butt's coming up in about a half an hour. It's always fun.
Kevin's always got some wild stuff for us. I had a headline that drew me off sides and it involves a guy who can't walk in a one hundred and six year old man together. Okay, I know what happened. I had a logistics question. Okay, we'll cover that in thirty eight o'clock. We have a little game for you to play along with. It's very poorly titled on my run sheet, the Adam Sandler Game. Couldn't you better than that? You spend all your time thinking of the audio cuts. Okay,
it's the Adam Sandler SoundBite. Don't well, you know what, please don't. We're gonna go into the Adam Sandler SoundBite stadium. When is Sandler here? That's gonna be no, when is his show here? Yeah, it's gonna be win Star Friday, December eighth, Not this Friday, but next Friday, next Friday, and you could be there. So join us at eight o'clock. Call in, uh then and we'll have some contestants you try to win some tickets. The great wind Star World Casino in Resort.
It's their new Lucas Oil Live Stadium, which I haven't been to. They do a little concert venue. No, I really have a new one. Huh. Last time I went to was Leon Bridges at Windstar a few years ago. Modest Mouse there a few years ago. Front row. Yeah, yeah, look at you. Yeah. We got a lot of sports to get to. And it is seven o'clock. Let's star and now sports at seven. Sports seven brought you by casino. You got a couple of good ones right now just north of town. You might have more in town.
Who knows casino. Three things I think we got here. One is football Dallas Cowboys. One is golf John Rahm. One is hockey, milf hunting. Uh oh, let's start cowboys there right? Why not lead with cowboys? Hello? This was very good, very cool to hear, very cool to hear. This is Aaron Rodgers on the Patton McAfee show. Danny hates Pat McAfee, but this is Aaron still doing his weekly bit, obviously trying to get back. If the Jets were to make the playoffs, he allegedly
thinks he could be able to play. He had to answer questions in the interview about he had to like tell people, yes, I tore my achilles for all the conspiracy theorists out there who were saying that you didn't even tear your achilles if you're already coming back because he's walking and he's throwing football and
things like that. But the main tickway is he talked about how he's getting to watch more football this year because he's been hurt, and what if his favorite quarterbacks, it's our quarterback talk about Dak because he's become one of my favorite quarterbacks to watch. I've watched more football this year than any of the year because in normal years, you're just you're getting ready for games, you're
never watching football. Tom had some comments about Brady hits and Bounce about some of the mediocrity in the game, and I just want to say, Dak is not here. He was talking about Okay for a number of reasons, but I just love that he's really playing the position. What I mean by that is, I'm watching him make ringo calls, so that's protection adjustments against
these crazy looks and picking things up. I'm watching them, you know, bring the tight end back in against the zero pressure and throw an old concept we used to run for a touchdown of ceed Lamb in the backround zone. I'm watching him use his cadence beautifully and and get into this rhythmic here we go into like dummy using as a dumb me, sometimes doing it twice,
into like other cadences. I mean, the last four or five weeks, I've gotten to see more of their games, and I just want to say, like, he's playing a position in a really impressive way, and for whatever reason, maybe because he's the Cowboys quarterback and it's one of those premier positions in sports, like I feel like the Green Bay quarterback has been for a long time, and some other you know, positions in various sports.
He might take a little more than than he deserves, or maybe it's deserving of the position, I guess. But I love the way he's playing, and I love the way he's playing, like really playing. I'm not talking about just like, oh, making good throws I'm talking about like it seems more rare. The guys are actually really playing a position where you're making adjustments, you're handling everything line of scrimmage. Now you're doing this crazy cadence stuff.
Like I love it, and I just want to shout out Dak for like really impressing me. You don't hear that a lot? He does not need you get to hear that a lot. Wait, good, dag, here we go. How about this shout out to Dak for impressing Aaron Rodgers. He said that sutly shout out to him for impressing me. Yeah, quick shout out. I liked hearing that. I thought it was OK too, and I agree with it as well. Dak has been doing these things more. Why he's more than the first four years. Put it that way.
He's taken over all that stuff, handling stuff at the line of scrimmage. These are things that he was not asked to do in his first two or three years at least, and he's been doing it. Yeah, which is what you expect and what you want. And that's why I don't want anyone to panic because we're thirty and he hasn't won a Super Bowl yet because it absolutely can happen with him, and you know, the odds are it won't, but it can. Like no matter how much football we watch,
we meet you, JJ or anyone listening like you just don't. You can't have the anywhere close to the knowledge that Aaron Rodgers has. No you know, and he knows that. Yeah, yeah, and he'll tell you that. But it's true. There's things going on that we can't even perceive and god forbid appreciate. So I think it's cool to hear that. Uh, he's one of the most cerebral quarterbacks I've ever seen too, and maybe in
NFL history. Yeah, like the amount of crowdit. He's been doing it on his own since he started to, like among the thousand things that go into any play. And then Dak throws a pick and we go, oh, can't do it, can't win the big one, like we're even if we're I'm not claiming this, but anyone claims to be an expert watching football, you're it's still surface level. Yeah, you know, you could never
appreciate all the things going to it. So anyway, I think he's doing all of them very very well, he mentioned one thing and I will go too deep into the weeds, but he didn't mention about protections. That is something that he absolutely had to take over once Travis left. Yeah, the Travis goes out and that was he had practice for it. The year Travis had gian Beret's syndrome and missed the year, you know, and then he has another year. We didn't have to worry about it as much because Travis
came back for one more year. But that year on the flight, they had so many communication breakdowns on the offensive line. But it was Dak's first year of kind of having to help out with that stuff. Quarterbacks, in my opinion, shouldn't have to worry about that, right, but they do. Ma Holmes does it, Joe Burrow does it, Lamar Jackson does it. They all help out with that stuff and just like changing quickly changing not so much the running back, even changing with the right guard or the right
tackle who they are blocking. Yeah, and that's like highly important. Yeah, that shouldn't be on the QB, right, you would think it. I think, you know, I think team to try I had to take that stuff out of their hands. Yeah, I mean, the buck stops with a QB. But you should have somebody else in charge of that. Yes, yeah, but every play you call, you go up to the defense goes oh, the defensive lines up and do some Scholl. We can't
run this play ever when they're lined up like that. So Dak was asked about the MVP hype train that is kind of rolling a little more than it was a month ago. He said, I haven't done bleep he does, I haven't done anything. I struggle with him. Is Dak good on the mic or not? I don't think he is personally, but I think it's purposeful. Do you think it's kind of fake when he does give you I haven't done s like? I really struggle because I really like Dak. I
think he's definitely a good person. I think he got warned so much like spooked by yeah, other cowboys near microphones that that went wrong, or he sees what happens to Jerry, and he doesn't do that bit of just fueling the madness every chance he gets. I definitely think he's more genuine this year than he has been. PA I agree with you on that, and I think, yeah, there's a side of him obviously that he can't bring fully to them. You know, you gotta be professionally. You're the quarterback of
Americas. You know you gotta watch what you say. And he's very good at that. But even sometimes when he does like the cuss thing, I feel like it feels a little fabricated, like he's gonna give you the passionate answer because he's decided. I think something clicks off for a second and he's like, oh, let me go back on, so cuss before the But
he was asked about before the forty nine ers game. Remember at that press conference, Todd Archers said something about it thinking about the next week, and he goes, I'm glad you asked me that I've been thinking about that off all off season or something, and he walked off and he kind of he cussed a little bit or something, and then they got drilled by the forty nine ers or night. But it's like, Okay, he's Jack showing emotion.
But he just gave up the Sunday before the forty nine Ers game that he's geared up for that game, and normally Deck would not have done that. Yeah, So yeah, I do think he's being a little more uh, you know, people, it's the most insane thing to me, and I don't think we talk about it enough, or maybe because it happened seven years ago, it doesn't need to be talked about it anymore. The starting quarterback of this franchise called a press conference in the middle of the season and
said, it's the rookies team. I you know, that's just how it is. It's the rookies team, you know, And I get it. I'm not retiring. And the PR Department's like, wait, you call the press conference without telling us, And then he was there for the whole time. He made the decision to just like not be a good teammate. It's so strange to me. For all Tony did for the Cowboys, it's weird that we don't talk about Tony Romo and that second half of the season when
I feel like he could have helped more. Now, people say, people close to the team to tell you that Mark Sanchez was Dak's closest confidant that season. That was the Mark Sanchez year, because Romo said it was so they weren't going to give the team back to Romo unless Dak lost, if you guys, but once Romo held I think they would have considered giving the team back to Tony. If Tony didn't do that, I believe that on that if you didn't know that, it wasn't I think he was embarrassed and
he did kind of get screwed by circumstance. Yes, I mean, Dak essentially had to go undefeated to make it a non starter that the job went back to Romo the first chance it could. But then there's the thing is there were there were a couple of losses that happened late in the year, and the offense sputtered a couple of games late in the year. One of those games I believe was a Tampa Bay game. I think one of those games was a Minnesota game. I believe my memory could be a little off
on that, and I think they would have considered giving it back. But it's like Dak as a rookie, should not have had to deal with that. It's enough being the quarterback of the Cowboys as a rookie, and now the guy who's been here for ten years plus he's holding a press comfort saying, well, this guy took my job. Like Dak should not have had to deal with that. Yeah, and he did, and it was weird. Let's talk hockey. Oh my god, don't worry. Do you know
the hockey story that's going on? JJ? Do you ready just go hockey? Okay, Well tell me in about two minutes if your interest level changes when I say we need to talk hockey. This is from a guy on TikTok named John Paroti. Yeah, did we just play the interview? I think just playing. I don't think it needs much set up. And we are not hockey experts, but you don't have to be one to find this story interesting. Uh yeah, I'll let it play and we'll hash it out.
This isn't the wildest story in sports so far this year. If you don't know who this is, this is Connor Badard. He was a number one overall pick in the NHL draft. He's eighteen years o old, one of the biggest hockey phenoms in a long, long time. This is Corey Perry, Anaheim duck legend and current teammate of Badar with the Chicago Black Owps. Former Dallas star Corey Perry. Yeah, Harry was brought in to be a father figure of sorts for Badar and kind of helped groom him in his
first few years in the very common in hockey too. They like to get the old guy Pari. They remember Wyatt Johnston was living with Joe Pavelski. M hm, you know, like they like to have the old veteran come in and can be a mentor show the eighteen year old. The Ropes believe this is conn of Bedard's mom, Corey Perry. Allegedly. Here's the timeline
of events. So on November eighth of this year, the Chicago Blackhawks players were having a Mom's weekend, where every player's mother would come travel with them for a two game road trip. Apparently, on that weekend, when Mama Badard was in town, they ended up. You know. So fast forward in November twenty fifth, Corey Perry randomly steps away from the Blackhawks for the
foreseeable future. The Blackhawks GM said his absence is a team decision, not Perry's decision, and his agent said that Perry stepped away to attend to personal matters suspicious. Then three days later, this afternoon, the Blackhawks officially waved Corey Perry Okay, they kicked him off the team. Yeah, uh uh oh, you know what. So Connor Berdard's mom would be the same age as Corey Perry right around there. Yeah, give him that he's eighteen and
Corey Perry's forty or whatever. So I mean it would make sense from an age standpoint that that could match up. I don't know, do you have to lose your job because you had what if it was, you know, consensual relations with I guess I don't know if Connor Berdard's parents are still together or is his mom looking to mingle and single? Yeah, that that could be a problem, I guess if yeah, it would be homewrecked. How about think of it this way. How would you feel if your teammate screwed
your mom? Right? And it's not just it adds to it that this is the number one pick overall, Like apply this to NBA or NFL, and it's because it's hockey and we care. You know, Corey Bdard is not a household name everywhere. We'll start with the number two pick of the NFL, seen as maybe the best rookie quarterback we've ever seen in C. J. Stroud, Like, what if that happened? What if you pick a I'm ready pick a Texan? I got well, I've got a veteran
Robert Woods. Okay, great wide receiver. What if he ports c J. Stroud's mom'sord. What if, oh it's amazing. Does Robert Woods lose his job? The locker room gets bad, yes, exactly. And if I mean the tie goes to CJ. St of course Ty goes to Connor Bandard in these scenarios. Now, I will say this, yesterday we did a big thing on Josh Giddy, and we did the allegation train station and I was like, look, I know it's interesting to talk about, but
I'm gonna wait until information comes out. Before you know, you pass any judgment. Let's all be careful to try to do that because you see headlines and it's like, oh my god, I have to scream it loud. Now, the Josh Giddy situation is very serious. Yeah, this is just juicy, But the same thing has to apply here that he could have done something. He's Corey Perry's kind of nuts anyway, Yeah, he could have
done any number of things. And then that guy, for all we know, or some blogger starts floating that rumor and we all go, oh my god, it's too juicy not to start screaming out loud and claiming it to be true. In Anyway, the GM said yesterday very clearly that it has nothing to do with any other players or their families. And I know that rumor is spilled out and quite frankly, it's disgusting. But you know, I mean, what if it's completely made up and we're in Dallas, Texas
talking about this and every sports show is talking about it. Now, Hey, you gotta talk about it? Why because someone made up some bs? But it's so it's I mean, it's quite victimless compared to the Josh gettything among others. Hey, I didn't have to have that bag of chips, but it's pretty good. Didn't some similar happen with lebron Uh? Yeah? Or was it? Was it? I mean Lebronte West? Yeah, that wasn't made up? And no, yeah, and that's not made up.
I think we all know. Just because you keep telling a fib a lot of times doesn't turn it true. Back in Cleveland, Richard gear lives lives with the idea that he had a Gerbil inside of him, right, that is a human habit trail. Yeah, I mean, come on, that's not even believable. Really, how would the gerbil live? You would die? The gerbil went up your the Gerbil would die. Yeah, and I think you could too. How do we get here? Well, I'm just
saying it's it's what. It's the biggest one of all of these and it's still there and this will this will follow Connor Badard forever. He doesn't get out of this, right, he give me the greatest inio player of all time, and we'll always think that Corey Perry slammed his mom. Yeah, and one day later, by the way, because someone says it, Melanie Badard not bad. She seemed like a lovely woman in the photographs that I've saw COVID. I think she could skate. Yes, I think she can
skate. It is wild too that he's got to come out and go. It doesn't involve any you know what does this ruin mom trips? Yeah? My black Hawk's Mom Weekend is probably postponed, if not canceled. Melanievedar has deleted her Instagram account. Another thing is, if you remember, Zach Wilson's mom had an Instagram account as well. So these moms that are thrown it out there a little bit do have accounts which they're in their forties because they're
young. Yeah, and people are hotter now than ever? Oh my god, why are people getting so hot? People are hot older? You know what? Back out on melody, but are after further? You are? You know? The dad kind of looks like Tom Brady a little bit. Let me get some pictures up here. I don't know, she's beautiful. Maybe she's got a little wine drunk in the picture. I'm looking at and think her eyes are crossed. What a story though? Huh? She told
you hockey. That's great, some hockey. We didn't get to the juicy uh John Ram stuff. But that's okay. Yeah, that's okay. That's okay. We'll have time. We'll get to it sometimes. That'll hold. It'll hold because you're still waiting on news on it too kind of to see what happens. But Julie, if you have any info on this Corey Perry, because she has a lot on Corey Parry. Yeah, and he got kicked out of the Winter Classic. I mean, can he work it anywhere
again? I mean they're calling it a workplace matter and a violation of team rules. What if he just had consensual sex with the woman too? Does he deserve to not be able to work again because of that? He's thirty eight. I can't believe him coming to the defense of Corey Perry. But I might be a little bit. He might not have even known it was her mom. It was his mom. Yeah, I bet he did. If he's brought in as partially as a mentor to the kid, well pretty
sure that put him in close contest. That's just because sighting Corey Perry looks bad on you, no matter what. Yeah, you need you need to make an excuse for sing you all experience. Yes, me up neck in the scuttle. But I've got a couple headlines. One that drew me off sides that involves a guy who can't walk and one hundred and six year old doing well pulling off quite the feet. Plus We're gonna keep you hip and I'll explain how next on ninety seven to one, The Freak
