Transcript

It's the downbeat. I'm ninety seven the free that's Masama. He's always he's dramatic. Yeah, he's always my back hurt. You know, that's your buddy, you know. Yeah. I went to Google Translate and I text him. I think Matsyama winning the Master's next week is a great cause one week from today, to imagine us, I works like for the Valero Open for assorted reasons. What a week next week? Oh? Master's week? I can't wait? And oh my god, Oh don't see that's your because

you're mocking it. No, I'm not. When you did that, you are mocking it. You should be excited. You should know me by now to know what I'm being authentic And when I am in a state of mockery, you're colin mockery. I mean, do I want to win? Who do you want to win? I mean outside of Fleetwood? Who's your guy? Are you pulling for a PGA guy to win? Do you want to live guy to win? Who are some of your early picks to click based

on your deep dive research. Deep dive research doesn't happen until the final stroke at the Valero. That's when we started digging in current form, So get back with me, maybe like Tuesday morning after the eclipse, I'll holler at you correct. Yeah, the second the clipses the eclipse is over is when we dial in full camping of the Master. That's it. The clips is the true Master's pregame. Yes, every year, wait till next Wednesday,

we'll have one name, the one and coming off last year's Masters. When I nailed the one name, I would like first time I ever actually got it right? You did? Yeah? We had John Rawm last year for about forty attempts at one name to win the next major? Are we going to do some kind of little gambling little? A little, not little? I would like to This is just me throwing ideas out there. You guys

could shoot him out to half court if you want. Uh. I would like to get the whole station involved in at the Master's bet once again. Okay, figure out to pay out, but the whole show. Don't think we can do that at the I guess I could for me a couple of

signatures. Might we might need I love it, but we could have been and Skin and Christina and Steve are all here like at nine or whatever, so like they could jump in and then we could get the speakeasy on zoom or something and really get deep into the field because the addition, no one talk rom Dustin Johnson Kepka, who might be one of the favorites, saw a video of him today. He's getting chunky. What do you mean His upper body is way bigger than his lower body, like stacked or fat.

It's like a it's it's a combination of pre etine protein. I mean he still like a beefy. He's a he's always been beefy. He has an athletic build even more so though it's like it's a it's in a Dully Scarcia transformation. Mike, hmm, that's that much of an exaggeration at all, Dude, you need to look at it. It's kind of wild. Or he was just wearing a shirt that was too tight for him. I don't

know. Larry the cable Guy eight thirty today today on our cable o'clock nine o'clock, we will be live trespassing onto the grounds of the Arrow opened with our field correspondent san Antonio Man. Who knows what could happen? He could be sniped. I don't think he's gonna get sniped. I'm not saying I think he might panic though, and you think he was a little overconfident as it was more of a front. Is that he went out yesterday and scouted.

And that's Wednesday, okay, Thursday on the PGA tour, and he went out at like seven pm. He said he saw one guy on a golf cart. He's gonna have a c of people, considering Max Home and Colin more Kaw are probably coming through that hole, like within minutes of when he stumbles out to that tea box. I don't think he's going to be

starstruck because he doesn't even know what these dudes look like. No, yeah, but no. What that means is the most amount of people on that course are going to be right with that premiere group, which should make it easy for him to blend in right. Yeah, but also means the most security, most eyeballs we haven't have. You have to have a strategy for him. If he is questioned, it's like, excuse me, sir, what were you doing in there? Oh? I dropped something in the woods.

Is Nick Kremer. I needed to make a phone call. I saw Nick Kreamer in the woods, so I ran over this side of them, Well, I need to see your your ticket or your credential or whatever. Oh I must have dropped it in the woods. I still think anyone's going to be on fifteen based on where do you go. If you're going to be on that close to fifteen, you would go get your spot on seventeen or eighteen. No, I think it's gonna be there, following that group.

They're following Max Homer and callin Moore Cowan, who Corey Connors and Corey Connors the Great Canadian. Every Canadian is gonna be on fifteen. That's a big bunch of people too. I already have the info. Phil Phil Green is the name of the CEO of Frost Bank, the main sponsor. So we're gonna be like, oh, hello this well, okay, if he gets in trouble, we'll have him hand the security person the phone. Yeah. I would like to apologize. This is Phil Green from Frost Bank.

This is an associate of ours. He is on his way to our hospitality facility and his credential awaits him one thousand apologies. Please please let our associate go immediately. As a matter of fact, we don't want you just to release him. We want a private escort taken to our hospitality tent, and I want you to give him a two thousand dollars worth of Valero bucks that will be good at any concession stand throughout the court. I'm philed Green.

This is Phil Green speaking right. Yeah, And while you're in there as his na I'm going to need your name. I'm gonna need your name, last name, and spell yeah, turn it on them. Yes you're always Oh, mister Green, I didn't know, well, now you do, friend. But as a reward for your assistance here, we got some finger foods in that Valero tent. You're free to help yourself too, some shrimp

cocktail. But I think you'll enjoy. Get him up there, and then as soon as the escort turns us back to lead him, San Antonio man fart in the wind boom. It's like heisted gone. Ghost knows, the terrain knows the Yeah. All right, you're ahead of us. Nine o'clock, three steps ahead. We don't need the sports at seven intro. JJ, we're good because you know time here before we get to hockey. Oh that means we're not getting we will, we will. I don't have much

hockey. It's fine. Three weeks from today is oh yeah, the Rangers. One yesterday. Three weeks from today is the NFL Draft. Three weeks three weeks I realized the Cowboys went ahead and stopped our national nightmare by making a big signing yesterday. His offensive tackle guard Guy tchuma E Dooga is back on a one year deal. So we did that. We did that.

There was an article UH in the Athletic or State is NFL executives and anonymous executives UH commenting on the you know, free agency spending of each team. Here here's what one exec said. You can imagine him and the same voice as these college conference guys. He said, the quarterback contract has put the handcuffs on him, so I can see why you might want to keep your hands in your pockets. Dak's contract counts fifty five million against the cap.

Here's where Dallas lost their last negotiation with Dak is they gave him the ability to have no franchise tag and a no trade clause. So even if they wanted to do something, if they wanted to operate like a the way some other teams have offered to have rich quarterbacks, green Bay did this, and green Bay shouldn't get credit for this. Aaron Rodgers kind of did this to himself. But they could go up to Dak and be like, Dak, look, your money is handcuffing us. We can't do anything, and we

need to step back one year to build for the next five. And that's what a lot of teams would do. Is there a place you'd like to go? And that's an option they could have had, but they didn't have that option because he's got a no trade clause. So he's gonna know. Now. Another executive said, well, if you want sixty million a year, here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna have an average team. We're

gonna be way worse. He's gonna play way worse, and we might actually win the negotiation next year because he had a worse year, which could happen because they can't do anything. I mean they really can't. They could move some money. The ways to do it is by signing Seedee Lamb now signing Dak. Now that's the way they could start doing things. But they're not doing that. So they're sitting here and we all realize that all in just meant your fate is all in on this year. All in does not mean

we're doing everything we can to win a title. It means we're doing everything we can uh or basically everything you guys do. That's all in. We're all in on whatever this season is, and then you're gone. I still think they'll get a deal done with Dak if they want to. If Dak sucks this year, they blow out McCarthy, or Dak takes a big downgrade next year. Named what McCarthy. I don't know that he's back. He's been outperformed by Jimmy Garoppolo, Rock Party and Jordan Love last three years in

the playoffs. That those are teams that were able to build rosters because their quarterback was making nothing. Dak is also a guy that you have to really set up for success by his surrounding cast. And that's the concern is it's almost like they're setting him up to fail by not adding anybody or making any trades to help bolster you know, his offensive line, his running game. What's sort of self fulfilling because they can't make those moves because of the money

he's making. Yeah, and most not most, but a lot of his success came with you know, bitch about Zeke all you want. He led the NFL and rushing two out of the first three years that Dak was QB, and they had a really good offensive line. Now that all made him look good enough. That all is disintegrating while he makes a ton of money. Not his fault, but what you're saying is true. Then you know they're setting him up to not have as good of a to maybe have one

of his worst seasons because he doesn't have any help. And then they can look at that get well, you know, Dak just underperformed this year. So look no further than a few hours down the highway at the Houston Texans who sucked got what the second pick? C J. Stroud. They see him, They're like, oh my god, he is him. You want to talk all in. It's what they're doing this offseason because we have a couple of years left of someone on a next to nothing quarterback deal. Window

is wide open, and it's just flung quickly, wide open. We do the tread water thing and you Connor handcuffed. Fine, we got to pay this guy this and now you're at a tipping point where you have to pay Dax so much you can't do anything much less gets to Von Diggs and get Joe Mixon, you know, the Jeff Akuda. That's not how the Cowboys operated, I know, because you want to stay near the middle at worst.

But they were willing to punt a few years. I mean, the Texans were poor, and now they said, oh my god, we got him all in. Everything go right now. And that's got to be fun. But is it worth sucking for those years to put yourself in that position and then hit hard on your quarterback and then shove every tip you got toward the middle because we got two or three years right now with the cheap QB to win the whole damn thing. And that's just one of the many ways

you can do it. Yeah, you're right, because as Green Bay did, the hole, stay in it, pay your guys, stay in it. And then once Aaron Rodgers basically said I don't want to be here anymore, they just finally got fed up with it. Okay, we'll trade DeVante Adams, We'll trade Aaron Rodgers. Rebuild it quickly. But they got ahead of drafting there, got three years early. The Cowboys have not spent a first round pick on that quarterback that you should take in the twenties or something

like that. They haven't done that. There's many work today with Lance by trading for him. Well yeah, there's a question too, like do you have anything there or not. They have to figure that out. I don't trust them to figure that out. But they go up the fourth round pick this year to get him too, which is the fourth round. I know a lot of people roll yours fourth round. You can get a player there

who can help you. I think with the draft being three weeks away from today, I think they want to go offensive tackle round one, running back, round two, offensive center who might could play some guard, but center round three, and then they don't have a fourth round pick. So maybe they're trying to trade back on all that stuff. But whatever, we can do that now they have these every team has thirty players that can come visit.

Basically, they come tour with a facility, they practice, they work you out, they meet coaches, players, it's all a it's an okay thing to do, like everyone can do it thirty players on that visit list. Some teams do this with bad players who won't get drafted who they want to sign as free agents. Some teams bring in a few players that the Cowboys historically do to telegraph what they do. They bring in these guys and they kind of show you what they need. They brought in a bunch of

offensive tackles. They brought in a bunch of running backs, a bunch of linebackers too, But I don't think they'll take a linebacker in the first three because they need a center. It's just shame that Wisconsin has a center that's probably supposed to go in the third round. So it's kind of the offensive

tackle. There's a bunch of guys that they brought in that are good there, but there's gonna be they may be taking it pick twenty four, the eighth best tackle in the draft, because that many offensive tackles are expected to go. A bunch of you guys are gonna go to the first round and whatever they get, whoever they get, they'll say he's the guy they had

their eye on the whole time. There's one guy, though, that matches the measurements and athletic traits that they've looked for last year or in all these years, really, Tyler Smith. His name is Kingsley Sua Mattia and he's from BYU. Keep that name in mind. Because he matches Matthew bergeron who they nearly took last year. And I mean I've got audio of them,

like talk debating between Mazzie Smith and Matthew Berger on the offensive lineman. You look at it now knowing they don't have well, knowing what we know what Mazzie Smith is like, Damn, it'd be nice that they took Berger on last year. But that's knowing too much, right. Draft last year is one of the biggest jokes in retrospect. Yeah they crapped the collective bad Yeah, now they did. And Mike, you have mentioned the running back Blake

Koram before from Michigan, that's your guy. Well, I mean they won the National championship and he was front and center like in America. So he's the top back in the draft. Feel like he looks like like EMITTT. Smith did in college. He is, so I you know, that's I don't think he's going to turn into the old time NFL leading rusher, but I feel like he's going to be a very good pro, absolutely top five

running back in this draft. Running back. There's not a first round worthy running back this year, but he is not of the four running backs they're notable running backs they brought in. He is not one of those, even though I think he probably should be. Trey Benson Florida State, Jonathan Brooks from Texas who got hurt. We second round Cowboys will take an injured guy. Oh my god, that I could see it. Braylen Allen from Wisconsin.

The other guy's Bucky Irving from Oregon, who statistically his comps are a chain from or a chan He changed at a Chan to from the Dolphins. I don't know if that's his like, but he's really good. I think it's laid out for him. Tackle, running back to guard, sit out fourth round because that's Trey Lance. And seeing what Justin Field's got in the trade, I'm like Jesus, they that Trey Lance trade's bad considering what they gave up to get him. I don't know. We know more about Justin

Fields than Trey Lance. I think for the price of a fourth rounder, you got a what only a couple of years ago as the first round talent, and it's sort of by accident. You've done what the Packers do, where you throw a very high potential, high quality quarterback on your bench, zero expectations and let them develop. Yeah, for the price of a fourth rounder. I'm I'm torn on the fact that they signed Sam Darnold because they didn't believe Trey Lance could be the backup to brought party. Yeah, and

that's an organization that tends to be smarter than the Yeah Cowboys. You wasch hockey last night? Yeah, all of it? No, no good, Okay. I watched the whole whole first period of period goal because it didn't start till nine to thirty. Right nine, It was supposed to be eight thirty start and they started there you go nine? What happened on right TNT. Yeah, so national game at the AAC against the hated Edmundton Oilers and

Connor McDavid is apparently really good. Yeah. So I watched the whole first period one of nothing, nothing all that exciting. Watched almost all the second period. Right they starscore again. Beautiful pass from Hayskin in to Sagan, a snipe shot to nothing. I'm like, look, it's ten thirty, whatever time it was. I'm like, I gotta go to bed. Nothing about five minutes to go left in the second period, right, stand up, Simon goes outside, hit the dryer, lay out my golf shirt for

today's afternoon activities, maybe a total of three to five minutes. Get in bed, check Twitter, and I see a girl said man. I turned the TV on just in time to see it go to five nothing. Holy crap. I'm like, excuse me. I go to the box score and I check it and they pour on four goals in the last I think six minutes of the second period, and but by the end of the second period Stars are up five to nothing. I couldn't believe it. Honestly, it

was just that fast. I felt like it took me one minute to get in bed. I'm like that I really miss three goals. Yeah, I mean they smoked Edmonton again. I'm not pretending to be the guy, but they look incredibly good. And they set or either tie or set a franchise record with eight straight wins. Boy, this sure is a different vibe I'm getting about hockey from you today than the one I got from Kevo last night, because we texted, Hey, you guys watching hockey. keV O goes.

I tried to, but I turned it off because I got bored. Yeah, I get bored. You got bored watching There's one nothing? It was Fox. I saw that. I saw, I saw that. That was second period. And then see the problem Kevin is you don't the game inside the game like I do and like Mikey does. Yes, sure, you just said you want flashy, exciting goal. You're like fight. Yeah, each you long for the days of Darien Hatcher and Shane Turla. You're

the guy who goes to the museum. I'm a modern art and you know, about a half an hour, you speed walk the whole thing and then you're back in Central Park. Yeah. Actually, yes, no, Dan and I are in there all day, maybe two days, taking appreciating the art. Yeah. Meanwhile, I'm getting more clicks and follows for posting pictures of chocolate covered strawberries. Well, we're not out there for clicks and fu. You overthink it. I rise to prominence. I'm out there to enrich

my life and experience real culture. I should have pulled the audio though, that the studio crew, you know, doing the analysis, They just sitting there to middlest we haven't been talking about the stars very much. Maybe it's time we start talking about them. They're way more dangerous than I thought. I'm like, we're not the only ones. The National analysts have been sleeping a national hockey analyst, So me, but f you Blue Eyed White Devils.

Yeah, Autinger was nuts shut out second of the year as eight straight wins. Yeah, that's the most hockey I've watched this year. But I was fun good, and it's fun that they might be the scariest team in the NHL. We got a really scary little basketball team, and we got the defending champs in baseball looking all right. Times are good cowboys and the cowboy idiots they're developing Trey Lance. The hot boys are over there. The

hot dog boys are running that thing into the ground coming up next. Man, it's it's weird. The Rashi Rice thing is taking another bit of a development that's very strange. And did you know that this music legend is in town tonight? Next one night, I won the Freak
