It's the downbeat. I'm ninety. See, it's a long December Mic thirty one days in it. Happy Friday everyone, and uh yeah, we are gonna talk Cowboys. We did a little bit earlier too as well. Let's talk about Von Miller thing in thirty minutes aremin you today? Pluckers in Plano, been in Skin Show and the speaking freaking the weekend series, just rocking and rolling. You get some wangs Pluckers in Plano today. So Sports at seven, JJ, let's go and now the Sports at seven It's brought you
by Mike by Magic, Mike's Morning entertain Thanks for jumping on board. All right, you know we'll have Danny back next week. You know, get those copy points short up. He's the one who's always took out all the copy points. He's in charge of all though. It's amazing. He's just got a whole folder, very organized. He'll have those next week when he returns. Okay. So last night the game starts and I'm like, okay, well, the Cowboys have the most unstoppable offense of the world. Big
play to Ceedee Lamb, big play to Brandon Cooks. They get that third down completion to Turpin first and goal with the two and they handed off to Pollard, then an incompletion and then Dad gets sacked and they sell for a field goal and it's three nothing. But it still felt like, well, they still can't be stopped. Well, they can't be stopped. No one could be stopped. Last night, right, and then we saw the first episode of drawing Bland getting torched, and I take back everything I said about
Geno Smith on yesterday's show. Is he delivered a beauty of a throw to DK Metcalf and then DK takes it to the house. Yeah, and this beautiful Seattle Seahawks uniforms seven to three. He looked great, you know, look great all day? Uh boy, DK Metcalf looked unstoppable. For sure, he's really good, too big, But that was a great throw and at least Bland was near near him on that one. I mean, if
had they lost, that's the story of the day. Well, no, the story of the day had they lost, is it can't beat a team of the winning record, right, Yeah, probably that is it da kid could have done in a close game, all that nonsense. Yeah, but yeah, Dron Bland had had himself a day And I hate to start with a negative in a game that turned out to be a solid win, an exciting win, a win where they you know, we're up back up against it. And you know it's cliche, but teams need to have days like
this. You can't, you don't do what they've done in most of their victories and just steam roll everyone. You have to have these these toughies. And that was a tough ass game against a very salty team that Uh, I don't know how good the Seahawks are. It's a real tricky one. But they're well coached and there are some talented dudes for sure. And the
Cowboys buckled down and made plays they need to, especially on defense. You could play a lot of different games with yourself when about like what you think about that crazy like no, like in your head, you can play a lot of different games with yourself about what to think about the Cowboys after this thing. And I just sit there and go, well, they played their third game in eleven days and they won all three of them. That's the answer. Yeah, I bet they were a little tired. The Seahawks played
their third game in eleven days and they lost all three of them. So like and that might account for some of the sloppiness of that game. But no one could get off the field. And that's kind of the game where you're worried about the past defense. I think I am a little more than maybe I thought I was. But look the Cowboys when they lost to the Eagles a few weeks ago and that big game. Yeah, the Eagles were able to score on them. So the defense is good. Is even's the
best defense in the league. No, No one really ever thought that. I don't think like decent teams can score points in the Cowboys. This is the same thing that happened last year. It's the same thing that happened the year before that. Hopefully you're ahead and hopefully you can go make plays late in the game and Micah Parsons can go, you know, get a sack for you, or DeMarcus Lawrence can get a big stop on a fourth and short for you. Although, Seattle, what in the world are we doing
now? They had a fourth and one late in the game. Let's run it right at DeMarcus Lawrence their best run stop. Yeah, the last play of the game on fourth and two, let's not block Micah Parsons their best pass Rusher. You know there's some psychotic stuff right there. Do you get mad or if you're a Seahawk fan, to get mad that Gino didn't kind
of just chuck it anywhere up? Yeah? You know, like you, I mean, you're screwed and I don't know, maybe you're living to fight another day and not dying when Michael Parsons evaporates you if you stand there for a second, but maybe just throw it way high in the air, at least past the line of scrimmage. I don't know if they're just I would be frustrated with just do something with it, but it's not like he had any time to do anything at all day. I agree with you on that,
like's this is the game. You you liked it. For him to know that Mike is You're almost like though you can't. There's two lines of thinking. You know where Michael Parsons is all time, but also, how can you play the quarterback position if you're just staring at Micah? Yeah, but for no one to touch him? Yeah, that's they played all right. They got couple of lineman backs, so I mean Seattle played tough, but yeah, and the Cowboys defense looked tired. Their secondary looked poor at
times. I mean, Duran Bland, if that was the first game you watched, you you would think that he has a liability on his defense, not a candidate for Defensive Player of the Year, which he is and he still is. And he did steal a pick and it was a nice pick too. Man, he's got sticky hands. I mean, he's a hawk, but he could have had another one that that kind of throwaway ball in the corner, you know that he dropped. I mean it's the same thing
that people were talking about with Treyvon Diggs. Right, yeah, ballhowks youreing to hit the ball for you? As long as they end up getting there, then I can kneel. It's getting beat up little bit too. He's also a matchup for him that is not going to work for him, as DK metcalf against him because he's a smaller guy. Yeah, in college he played outside cornerback, and then he got drafted in the fifth round. A lot of NFL teams when they scattered him, said he can't play outside.
They're just a slid guy. Now he's playing outside and sometimes he's gonna get beat by a guy who's six' four he's yeah, happened, pushed around, but he kind of got torched by every he did every receiver at one point or another. But whatever. I you know, everyone got torched last night a little bit. And we said it earlier how hard playing corner is in the league. It's fine, and every cornerback does get beat now usually isn't quite so like consistent and just seemingly play after play. I mean,
you didn't hear Stefan Gilmour's name in the first half. They didn't even throw that way, and it is weird. They clearly were not scared of land. That was their playing. That's the mark. Actually, yeah, well, the the mark on the Cowboys defense is probably won if they get one of their safeties in coverage. But if we're talking about cornerbacks, it's it's going after him, and that probably will be the case into the playoffs. And if you can make a couple of plays in the ball, then they
had offsets. It all offsets everything you've ended the possession because there were no punts last night. Fifth game all time, they said, was it really? Yea of all time? I think the fifth game all time, first since twenty twenty one, A game with no punts were cheer. I was kind of cheering for the no punt game. You knew it was happening. I also think it's just kind of great and it may have snuck up on us this league where everyone just goes nuts on fourth down. I mean,
we were yelling for this five years ago. You know, it sort of started. And whether it's analytics or whatever, but I kind of love that it's you don't even think about it now. I mean, hell, when we grew up, it was punt team, run them out, fourth and one, fourth and two. I mean even a fourth and one was like, oh my god, they're going for it. Yeah. Well, the way we watch football growing up is so different. Yeah, I mean I
remember watching replay some Super Bowl in the nineties. I think it was ninety six and rember Bill Parcells Patriots being down by two touchdowns with like eight minutes left in the fourth quarter. It's like a fourth and three and they ran the punt team. Yeah, punted got to yeh eight minutes left, and we would have had a hissy fit back then if they went for it before we fully jo the offense. Let's talk about some end game decisions. Okay,
twenty eight to twenty. The Seahawks lead, the Cowboys go score. There's three minutes left in the third quarter, so eighteen minutes left in the game. It's twenty eight twenty six, and they like to kick the extra point. At the time, I'll tell you what I was thinking. Okay, I was thinking, right, call, there's a lot of time left, and no one's goetting stops. We don't have to chase two points. What were you thinking at that time? I was surprised they kicked the extra
point. I mean, did you agree? No, I don't. I mean, it's not the end of the world, because there is you know, you have a full quarter plus three and a half minutes. But you know, I disagree with I think they should have gone for two. I mean we just said in the you know, everyone goes for almost every fourth down. You have a high powered offense, you have a series of plays that you know are designed for that two point conversion or very short yards guaranteed
type plays, and nothing is guarantee obviously. But yeah, no, I think they should have gone for it. I was surprised they didn't. Yeah, okay, So I was perfectly okay with it because I thought there's a lot of time. But you know, either way, there's there's none Like, I don't think analytics would give you a definite answer on that quite frankly, Yeah, I don't think there's some you know. And then the Seahawks,
uh it ends up. I mean, we get the ball back and think that might have been the Bland interception, and we get the ball back. It's twenty eight, twenty seven, and then the Cowboys end up taking the ball and this is the drive where they end up kicking a field goal, and it's thirty to twenty eight. So you're like, okay, that's cool. Now I'm trying to get to where the fourth down was, where
it was fourth and two and the Cowboys went for it. Okay, Yeah, so that was the next Once the Cowboys got the ball back twenty eight, twenty seven, they had a fourth and two on the Seattle thirty. Dak rolled out to his right, threw it to Seedee Lamb, and Seedee Lamb dropped it and a lot of fans were like, why do you just kick the field goal for the lead man? I have met. I was in go for it mode right there. Yeah, So I agreed with McCarthy
on both of them, and you don't hear me say that. I agree with Mike McCarthy a lot, but I totally agreed with it because he was chasing at that point. He was chasing four points, not one point or two points. That's the way I kind of view it. I'm okay with chasing four points. I don't know if I wanted to chase two at the extra point, but four points is what he would have been chasing there,
and I kind of liked that. Maybe he was chasing five points if you would go for two if you scored or whatever, So I kind of liked that decision. It didn't work out. Then the Cowboys were able though, to get the ball back. Well no, then the the Seattle went down scored thirty five twenty seven the first to at the beginning of the fourth quarter, Cowboys go down, they can't get in the end zone, they kick a field goal, so it's thirty five thirty Seattle. This game was crazy
last night. That was But the number one takeaway of the entire game for me is like the Cowboys offense can kind of do whatever they want most of the time, and it's gonna come down to are they able to finish. Once they get in the red zone. That's what it's gonna come down to. It's that simple, because they had a million ways to beat you. And once they realized after week six that Ceedee Lamb and Brandon Cooks are on their team, that's when I knew this team has a chance. Yeah,
it is odd how much the team has changed within the season. And I don't know if you see that all that often, you know, but because you and everyone was really bitching about the Mike McCarthy offense after a few weeks and they seem to listen or figure the stuff out for themselves. But they are potent and it's fun, you know. A rare interesting take from Kirk herb Street last night. Herb's fine. Herby's fine. Just know I like
him doing college games. But he said, look, sometimes when you haven't called plays for you years, it takes you a while to get going. I said, you know, that's something I haven't really thought about that he hasn't done it in a long time. Instead of just looking at the negatives of someone who has it cold plays in five years, maybe you look at it from the standpoint of it takes you a minute to get it in gear. Just takes you a minute to get it going, you know, So
I kind of can stand by that a little bit. I will go to my I mean, I'll fight for this one. I hain'te ceedee lamb. Throwing a fit on the sideline is the best thing that's happened off it's all year long. Yeah, maybe, but Brandon Cooks is amazing. And the reason I knew Brandon Cooks is amazing is because I'm a damn gambler and he was in our DraftKings lineups all year last year for the Texans with Davis Mills putting up good numbers, So what can he do with a real quarterback?
Good stuff? Brandy Cooks is great. Jake Ferguson makes you go Dalton Schultz, who Yeah, Ferguson was a standout last night, just because the saltiness, you know, was so salty, like he got in their face. That was kind of bad ass. I thought they were gonna get him on the on the go ahead touchdown catch, Yeah, I thought they were gonna get him on a little OPI push off, yeah, really little, because there's a little nitpicky and they were damn sure throwing the flags last night.
It was cool in the uh they had Dak in the at the table after the game, you know, and they brought up Ferguson because Tony Gonzalez was there. It's funny. They only want to talk about their positions, you know. Andrew Whitworth wants to talk about, oh, the on line play, Richard Sherman wants to talk about DB's and Tony Gonzalez goes straight to side it whatever, and he's like, I got any favorite player, you know, Ferguson, And Dak's like he's crazy and I believe it. And he
called him the enforcer too, which I thought was cool. Like, I don't think Jake Ferguson takes any s and he will run your ass over and he probably could have got a flag for the Cowboys on that helmet to helmet, yeah, when he was right over the middle when that safety popped him directly in the top of his damn helmet with his helmet. But he pops up and talks S and I don't know. I the evolution of Jake Ferguson
into a bad MF is a fun thing going on this year. And he's really good and he's more athletic than people think too though, Like for like you think of Wisconsin tight end, you're just thinking just a big milk boy. Yeah, you know, big team milk boy is a big team milk. I didn't know he was Barry Alvarez his grandson. What you know that? No, he said it during the game. Oh my god, the legend Barry Alvarez? Was it me? Or as it was just like the
enthusiasm from Alan Kirk just really draining. Or am I just tired? Maybe that's probably he was tired. But anyway, he was awesome in that game. Fourth rounder and it's cool that you know, another nods to their you know, front office to know that, Yeah, the Schultz is Dak Prescott's will be. He loves him. Well, so is it the position or is the man? And it might be a little bit of both because you know, when Schultz was out, he didn't utilize the tight end here as
much. But once he has someone he trusts in that position, they're gonna get the rock. I always thought this last year that and if they would have got into ballmore, he's like he's got some yack to him yards after catch. Thanks is what that means. But I was like he seems like he's got more potential to do things after the catch than even Schultz had, even though he's a little bigger's a little more thick. Do you just see it? Just a little more loose in the hips though, and he could
get a little little more action for you yardage wise after the catch. I always thought that. But he did the hurdle last night too, I mean, only got your extra yard. Yeah, And Frank Clart came over there and tried to taunt him, told him only got one more yard out of the hurdle. Yeah, he said, Well, still still cool though, wait till the snapshots come in. Yeah, to my email inbox, I was not gonna know. Only got one yard, Just like when Jason went
and got his helmet ripped off. You know, he didn't score on that play, but doesn't matter in the photo, No, looks bad ass. We've done all of this, Mike without even mentioning ceedee lamb seventeen targets. Give the man the ball he can get up in ninety five different ways. I feel like he is almost like he spoke it into existence, like he almost started yelling at everyone like, why don't you guys think I'm Jamar Chase or Justin Jefferson, and then by saying it out loud and then obviously by
the production, he is making himself. That dude second in the league in receptions with ninety is that right now? He'll get passed by Tyreek Hill this week and maybe Stefan Diggs. But through Week thirteen he is number two in the league. Through his week thirteen, number two in the league in receptions, Keenan Allen's number one at ninety seven. He is second in the league
in receiving yards because no one's going to catch Tyreek Hill. He is fifth in the league in receiving touchdowns, and he could have more, but they're getting Brandon Cooks involved in the offense and he's gonna score some touchdowns and Ferguson's gonna steal a touchdown or two from me as well. But otherwise he would be up there with Tyreek Hill and Mike Evans and Stefan Diggs. Like he is a monster. And I knew this was coming because he was too good
at Oklahoma. You just see it the million ways that he can get open, whether it's giving him the ball right when he snap it, by the deep ball, I mean, he's a good route runner. He's just good that he doesn't have a weak trait about him. It just needed to all come together somehow. And once he finally went and stood by himself on the sideline and held his helmet over there and then went, oh, had a bye week, and MacArthur went, oh, yeah, he plays for us,
and here we go. Yeah, here we go. Please don't so. Cowboys won forty one thirty five, Mike Big one. It was a big one and three four found stops in the fourth huge And that's what you want to if it's will get stops for you. Sometimes you gotta wain a tough game man, and they did. I you don't find me bitching man. Nay, you can rest up and you get the Eagles. And I think they're going to get the Eagles. I really do. Yeah. I have my questions about are they be able to run the table? Here?
What you gotta go to Miami, you gotta go to Buffalo. Definitely have my questions about that. But this is a good team. It's a really good team. I don't know that it's different than last year. I don't know that it's different than the year before that. But get in the tournament and give yourself a chance. You said we didn't mention much ceede Lamb. We didn't mention much Dak in that whole damn segment. And we'll do it at some point. We'll do today because you want to talk different, something
different, or something different. I think it's because he's pregnant. He's not pregnant. Well they are, Bud, he's not pregnant, Kevo, Well he's not. It's not a joint thing though. When the girl gets pregnant. Yeah, I don't think they were pregnant. Yes, he's pregnant. Then he's well, he was different before he was pregnant. Oh see CHRISA. Thompson bought him a gift. Oh she did. Yeah. In the postgame, someone watched the post game. Someone else went to bed. I
stuck her around because knew Dak was coming up. Yeah, we'll talk a little Dak later. Yeah. Absolutely, what a win? What a when? What's a job to be alive? Coming up next? Though? Boy an NFL player who you know was from this area. He was wanted for a rest yesterday and he turned himself in. We'll give you the details next time. Ninety seven won the freak,
