He may stay in his stand Bull with OLOG thirty eight to three year Final yesterday at AT and T Stadium, the biggest loss in Bill Belichick's career. Couldn't believe that, you know, in couch for a long time, you think it would have
run into one forty point loss. Yeah, you would think Belichick raves. It's hilarious that that was a little footnote at the end of that game that I was kind of like, really, do you think that if you've been in the game that long, you're bound to get routed at some point. I'm sure he suffered some routings up there in that that New England, but not not to this level. We learned. That's bad. And part of it's the quarterback. You know, Kirk Cousins is not good. Part of
it's the Cowboys being a good team. Like I don't think Kirk Cousins isn't good, but Mac Jones Jones, Sorry, I said Kirk Cousins, Mac Jones. I don't know why I had Kirk Cousins on my mind, Mac Jones, but we all knew that. So it's like this game was weird. It was a six and a half point line. I never once for a minute thought New England would have a chance to cover because I saw they played the Jets. But then the Jets last night were competitive with the Chiefs.
So football's dumb and none of us know anything. That's how you look at it, at least this early in the season. I mean, the way the how I was pitt against the Cardinals last week was such garbage. And then you know, the Cardinals played the forty nine ers fairly tough at a couple times yesterday, so maybe you think higher of them. I really don't know. I know, I walked away from yesterday's game going I don't know any more about this team than I did going into the game, except
for a couple of things. One are kickers solid a thirteen for thirteen kickers on fire. Yep, So cool, that's worked out, which is great for you know, a team that struggles the closer they get to the goal line. It's nice to have a dude that is going to be automatic from you know, thirty to forty five yards. You would think, okay, first drive of the game. Glad you said that, first drive of the game. Wrote my notes on a note card. Use a notepad. I
did a note card yesterday, except I was struggling the first drive. They throw it to Scoop Maker in the end zone and he continues the trends of our tight ends dropping passes. But man and as Schoomakers a pick I did not like. I thought they should have drafted an offensive lineman. The second round. There's a guy I wanted. They didn't get him whatever as another tight end. We got Ferguson, We got a hinder shot. Yeah, we got these guys who are not like game changing tight ends. Bubb me.
Damn that schoonmaker. I was like, Okay, he will look pretty fast, and he dropped it and they end up settling for the field goal. Where did they draft him? What round? Second round? They didn't need to do that. Man, put your eggs in the Ferguson basket. I'm telling you that I'm him, absolutely love him. Get those guys practicing on catching footballs better. That's a pretty damn good core with I think Ferguson
leading it, and I think he is going to emerge. Man. I love everything that I've seen out of that guy, other than the fact that he has at little bit of difficulty. You know, it's early, he'll get there, I think, but I think he's I think he's really solid and I liked I always thought he was more athletic than Dalton Schultz agreed, and I think everyone was like find with Dalton Schultzon was definitely more physical. Yeah, but what Wisconsin, dude, though, Wisconsin guy will out physical
Stanford guy anytime. This it's Christian McCaffrey because he's just sick. Oh. But one thing that so that touchdown, I was sorry to touchdown. Passes dropped. The next play or one of the plays after that. On that first drive was the third down and it was supposed to be a handoff to Tony Pollard and then either Dak turned the wrong way or Tony Pollard went the wrong way and I kind of bump into each other. Well, there was some pre plays over. Yeah, there was a little bit of pre snap
panic. Yeah, because Dak called off the pass. He audible out of that out of the pass play, and I just don't know if his signal was clear or Pollard was confused. But there was something something afoot that they were They didn't have it solid in their brains on what to do on that play. And that was third and one correct and then second stop they have to sell for the field goal. But whatever. But as you're going,
here we go again, Yeah, still bad in the red zone. Patriots come back down and they drive down the field and the Cowboys end up getting to stop or whatever. But like Patriots are like, okay, this is gonna be a game here. They kicked the field goal, it's three three, and okay, this could be something. Patriots were kind of slicing them up pretty good on that. On their opening drive, Yeah, fourteen plays and then they had they had a play for forty two yards. But I
mean after that, that's about all that. And I don't know, man, the Cowboys next drive, the CD Lamb touchdown, like that was beautiful. That was greatly That was on the twenty. So if it's funny that that does not get counted as a red zone TD because it was literally on the twenty. I didn't realize you had to be basically it's it's nineteen or lower to count as red zone. Yeah, you absolutely should count that as a red zone touchdown now. I also think when that drive happened, I
was like, whatever, the offense looks good, who cares? But then the game went on ended up going Okay, we're doing a lot of like we can sustain drives, we can hang out with anyone, but when does this get fixed? Now it's weird to complain at thirty eight to three, and I don't know if I'm calling it complaining, but I don't feel better about my red zone offense and I don't know, man, you don't it's weird. You don't play a real team until next week where he gets forty
nine ers. Is it true? And they brought this stat up early in the game talking about the Cowboys red zone woes and maybe is it just because it's it's so glaring that there percentage of red zone touchdown conversion is low, but the amount of times that they've gotten down there is just astronomically far more
than any other team in the NFL. Yeah, that's they converted on a league average red zone touchdowns compared to the number of times that they've been in the red zone on drives, that this team would be winning every game seventy to twenty. Basically. I like that, Like I'm I, I do agree with that. And and here's here's my problem. You just sounded like a goat. I did, Cass, I could go that was weird. My problem with what you said is it's right, but I also feel like
it would be better still with Kevin. And I know that everything shouldn't go back to who's calling your plays, but it kind of does. And I think that's gonna be the downfall of this team. I think that's why they're ultimately not gonna get to where they're supposed to go. I think it's gonna be because I don't think they're play caller, and I'm not doing the guy that go question the guy who calls plays and look at it. I just worry that he hadn't done it in six years. Well, people are just
fast. Yeah, it does. But people are also gonna say that you've got him slotted just because your history with him as a head coach of the Packers that you probably feel like they should have had more super Bowl wins, more and more championships than they did. You know, they only had one with him and a Rod, So maybe they're in sour grapes. That's what people are gonna People are gonna say it. Maybe it's true, maybe it's
not. Probably is no, And I'm not. I for everything that I have a complaint about McCarthy, I usually have a lot of good things to say about him too. I try to be then I'm not. Then you're all you're doing the play both sides thing. So she says, you still don't like look like the complete a hole. No, I'm just telling you, like McCarthy as it called play plays in six years or five years, whatever it is. The NFL network puff piece to get him a job was
bs and that's all a whole other thing. There are good things about him building an organization, building a program, consistently making the playoffs. You're in year out building something. Love that. Let's get someone calling plays. We had a good play caller here. Now everyone liked a bitch about Kellen. Despite being a top five team in points and red zone efficiency and all that stuff. People like to bitch at Kellen when you're losing the playoffs. I
don't get that. But whatever people want a bitch about is fine. I might get serned about Mike McCarthy's and I still haven't seen it this year. Where are the guys running free, just wide open all day? You saw that with Kellen. Kellen seemed to be a play caller that would take more, more chances. It may have looked more. What people would say is creative. You know you hear that term thrown aloud. He's a very creative
offensive coordinator. He's a creative play caller, which I think just means something that's not boring. And what Mike McCarthy's formula is on offense appears to be kind of systematic, kind of boring about risk management, minimizing the chances that will get you in trouble. And I think if you're playing a team that you are clearly better than and can establish a lead early, I think it's very easy to implement the McCarthy formula. Yes, and we've seen it happen
three out of four times this year. They have absolutely looked dominant over the teams that they have their three victories against. You know, you can look back at last week and that could just be attributed to personnel, because I don't care what team you are, if you are missing three out of your
five offensive lineman, you're going to have a rough time. That was their first game without Diggs, and I'm sure there was an adjustment and an adjustment time frame that they needed that they probably didn't have enough time, I guess, to kind of understand what their defense was gonna look like without Diggs. Now they've had a game and then a full week in the defense looked phenomenal yesterday. Granted New England sucks. Mac Jones is a garbage pail of a
quarterback. Yes, he's horrible. That guy is not their future. It was funny that they were comment He's like, well, you you kind of wonder if mac Jones is the quarterback of the Patriots for the next fifteen years. I don't know if he's gonna even start next week. That guy sucks so bad. I think Belichick's had after the game. There wasn't any point in keeping him in the game anymore. You could have said the same thing about our quarterback for different reasons. Can we get Dak and Mike got out
of the game? Why what are we doing? I don't understand it, and I'm tired of hearing you. No, you just can't ask Mikey to come out. No you can you just take it out and you just say no, you're not like you're just not, especially when he's been hobbling around all day. Anyway, that came out of the game two times due to injury, dude, and worked himself back in. Put him back in the game. Then I understand maybe leaving Dak in because on offense, you can
kind of control what he's going to do. You can. It can be a lot of handoffs, it can be a lot of three step drop quick pass kind of things, things where Dak knows to protect himself and to not get himself injured. But on defense, that's such a man. Anything can happen at any time, and you're you're more reacting to stuff on defense and you don't have much control over what's gonna happen to you. I don't understand why number eleven was in that game at all. In the fourth quarter.
All I was sitting on it is literally thirty one to three right now, and he's rushing the bassard this it makes no sense. Well, the guy only knows one speed man and you can't you know, you can't coach that out of him. Well you can take his ass out of the game. And you say, no, you're not You're not playing now, duds, And you know it's fine. Let's go get some ideas going for your podcast tomorrow, Like we're gonna take something you don't have to like. I get
it. He probably just wants to rack up these sacks stats and all that stuff. I want to ask you something real quick. Something I thought about this morning when I woke up, and I've seen a couple of people on Twitter posts this. It's like, you know, we're going into Week five against San Francisco and I don't really I don't really know anything about what this
offense is capable of. I really don't have a good read on this team, just because when they've been good, the defense, the defensive performances have been so dominating, the takeaways have been great, the scoring from the defense has carried the team in two out of those three games that they've won.
They don't really know what to think about this offense, and I I kind of in the same It's hard to argue that because we come in here on Mondays and talk about what we've seen, and the reason we do this, and the reason people you know, do this on Mondays is because you kind of want to manage how much headspace you want to give your team. Yeah, because in New England right now, you know what they're thinking about hockey season starting. The Red Sox missed the playoffs. They know that, they're
that the Patriots are an absolute dumpster fire. But we're in hockey preseason. The Bruins are probably gonna be pretty good. I texted with my mom about this yesterday and she goes, yeah, Mac Jones sucks. It sucks. You know, the lifelong those of you don't know. I'm adopted, reunited with my birth family a number of years back, and I'm very close with them. But they're all up in that New England, Connecticut and western Massachusetts.
And we were texting yesterday a little bit about the game, and she goes, I was talking about what you guys got, Zeke, And she goes, yeah, we'll see what happens. Mac Jones is not a very nice person. I'm not confidence in his abilities nor his temper. Let's go Bruins. They're done ready for hockey. They're ready for hockey right now because they know and they know how much, they know how much room to give
their thoughts to their team. What we do is we can look back at where we are right now through four weeks and go, you know what, Yeah, are they the best in the NFC right now? Probably not, but you know, depending on injuries, how healthy they can stay, the way they have looked when they're good, how great their defense is, we're in the mix. Well, it's okay for us to start thinking bigger picture,
a great playoff run, perhaps a super Bowl. Yeah, you know, because the only thing, the only real competition in the NFC right now is San Francisco and the Eagles, who look better than the Cowboys. They just do. Maybe the Lions, maybe, but the Lions don't look better than the Cowboys. I don't think. I don't think. I think there's two teams in the in THEFC that look better and anything can happen from this point forward. You have every right to be excited about it. I think
it's debatable that the Eagles have looked better than the Cowboys. Honestly, Yeah, you're right, But you know, I think a lot of people thought they would be three and one or four now at this point. You obviously were expecting the Week two game against the Jets to be Aaron Rodgers. Ye, so that's a that's a part of it. But you know, I want to be I wanna be like real clear. I am not bitching. I am very happy about that win yesterday, but we still kind of don't
But they haven't played a good team. It's just so hard to tail tail it's so hard to tell. Question, Yes, please jump in. Do you believe and I think I believe this. Do you believe that they have not fully opened up the offensive play? Oh? I hope that's the case. But didn't like McCarthy make it like a statement, kind of like, oh, our offenses are going to be like a full four going to like five. That's just I've just historically never listened to anything Mike McCarthy says,
because he's a liar. And if anyone, if you're a Cowboy fan, I'm just telling you, as someone who knows who's been too close to that man, he's a liar. Could changed. No, he didn't change during that absence of the NFL. He could have found himself. No, they tell you that he went to the barn and he watched all the plays and then the opening press conference. He lies and he says that he only said that stuff so Jerry would give him the job, and Steven Jones laughed central
awkward look. Mike McCarthy's a fine coach. Mike McCarthy's the play caller. We're gonna find out a lot. And we needed to find out that clarity because we'd had enough time doing it with Kellen all right, so we needed to find out. But this idea that it's it's gonna open up, I certainly hope so, and I think it probably will. Also, you don't need to open it up when you're winning by thirty or forty, so we're good. So I mean, you make that's a great point. You don't
need to open it up when you're getting touchdowns from your defense. Oh my god, the defense, Oh my god, two picks. He likes the party. Yep, he does like the party. I didn't realize that uh interception stat about him that he's leading the league in interception since last year. Yeah, last year. Yeah, I think he's up the eight total now that Dante Fouler play and then later vanderess scoops it up and beautiful, absolutely
beautiful. That's something that we learned though that because if people were freaking out with digs out that Bland can handle himself on the outside, we knew he was good and slot it's just like, okay, now can you handle yourself. We're gonna learn so much from the forty nine ers. You actually have talent. Yeah, it's what we've been waiting for. But we've been crapping
on the pages. But mac Jones dropped three hundred yards and then against the Eagles, Okay, against the Eagles, So we're talking like I'm not too sure how good we are and how good they're not good. I'm like Mac Jones. He played a good game against the Eagles when they played him. So the Eagles were farting around with Sam Howell yesterday. Yeah, who is the grandson of mister and missus Howell on Gilligan's Island, as you'll remember.
Okay, his grandparents were on the island, and he uh made it out. You're ridiculous. You know that. I'm aware of that. Coming up next in the scuttle Better Daily News, saging once more cowboys stuff? Were you at eight? Let's talk about that defensive eight. We didn't talk about the vaunted defense, and I did not need to turn that into a McCarthy bitch session. I just don't trust him. I just don't trust him. Hey, this pop star, very famous hired a bunch of goons to kidnap
her son. Who is it next? On ninety seven one, The Free
