I like Steve Kurves. I'm like a nice guy. Everybody kind of likes well, I don't know, maybe it's any who. I've heard that his butt candle sales had plummeted in recent years. He was the king of butt candle sales until Paltrow launched Hers kind of blew him off the front front page of Etsy. Stephen Jenkins, a third eye blind, is fifty nine and suffers from narcolepsy. Etsy one of us. Huh, yes, he's one of us, and he's done a great job of raising awareness for narcolepsy.
Better News, Steve Kerr, check out Mats. Steph was on fire tonight, Clay I played well, could have Draymond back. He holds this whole thing together And thanks for all for coming out tonight. If you had a minute tonight, pop on Etsy slash Kerr Asker backslash butt candles. Yeah, it's some nice new butt candles we put on. Their higher quality than Gwyneth last longer longer, Wick longer Wick. If you have a minute, I

I'm gonna be laughing all day at the concept of the Steve kerr Butt candle. No reason, no reason. Wilford Brimley would have been eighty eight. He liked dope meal, he hiked dote mel isn't he the Yeah, he's the Wilford Brimley line. Who else would be? I suppose? Yes, he's the guy who has Oh,
isn't where's Danny? He's probably passed. I passed it years ago. Bro. Yeah, I think he was like forty six or something like. That's how old was he when he was in Cocoon. Yeah, he was in his mid late forties. I believe. Okay, forty h turned fifty during filming, so essentially it's fifty years old, right, Yeah, he was fifty. He looks seventy seven. That's incredible. Diabetis Yep. He was a spokesperson for the sugar diabetes. Yes. If you guys ever see Cocoon,
Yeah, I think Cocoon is great. I think it's amazing. I'm really good film, But thirty years since I've seen it, he should watch cocoon and review it for us. But you know the Tonight Show nineteen fifty four, it's about to be seventy years that's been happening. And then the Cleveland Show came out in two thousand and nine, Danny, that's great. On the list of Danny's impressions, what here did he come out? Two thousand and nine? Happy birthday to me, Cleveland Brown, that's the worst
impression I ever heard. That call. We on our shared doc we have a list of Danny's characters. The one added to it was Barney Rubble the other day, Buddy, that's all I have. That's it. Somebody on text when we had our rock breaking guy that called in earlier, asked if Nolan yeah, who won tickets and called in in our hot New six am segment, what are you doing up? Do you fw? Somebody asked him if he screamed Yabba Dabba do when he got off work, how did we
miss damn? How did we miss that? Well done? Text her, he's not barefooting to work and he slide off the tail of a brontosaurus before he touched out like he's grinding the rail. Gosh, so dumb. What's two sports? At seven missed opportunity. Let's take up for that. Now say shallow now seven, all right. Sports at seven today is brought to you by Crap. Crap. It's in your pants. It happens over the
weekend, and sometimes you just don't know where to put it. People want more of it, and at the same time they can't wait to get rid of it. It's in your garage, it's in the floorboard of your car, and it's often on your mind. Let's face it, it's everywhere. It's time to change the way we look at crap. Go to crap dot TV, Slash Coffee and learn more about how you can spread the word about crap awareness, crap, Lean into it, thanks crap, lean into it,
appreciate it. Crap I had sixty seconds. You get to read thank you, a good tagline. Almost lean into it. Rangers still two and a half game lead in the AL West. The best case scenario they lost yesterday. They lost but the Mariners one, which meant that those two teams kind of just stayed static and they're leading to and Alf. Those two teams are over there playing with each other, feeling around each other's privates while the
Rangers are they can just lose and it's no big deal. I think it's a three game or magic number to clinch a playoff spot for the Rangers, Okay, and I think it would be, and I could be wrong, and maybe you lessen that, and I believe it's DL West are still in there here and they win to night. Here's the big news for the Rangers, and then we'll move on to Ryder Cup one O one. Scherzer was originally expected to need eight to twelve weeks of rest to heal this major strain
in his forearm. Well, he's been playing catch. I've been flicking it and here's what he said yesterday. It's another step forward. I'm continuing to strengthen my arm. Throwing off the mound is close. He is working his ass off to get back and it may be dangerous and it could screw up his arm for next year, but he wants to pitch in the playoffs this year. Our hetero chrome hero is gonna come strutting onto that field. Kind
of love him, I love it, kind of love him. Well, I mean no dates on and even a guess when, like deep into the playoffs, we need to win a series. I don't know it does we don't know. I don't know. I think that means it's such a he's a war daddy. That's what Chris Young was like, saying that, you know, oh yeah, well he's done for the season. Or does that
mean the season the postseason? What does that mean? Uh? That's why Church when we played the audio of it two weeks ago at we gotta get into more, right, we gotta we gotta get this checked out and see what it is like. Everything is like an urgent matter with him. I just love it. So there's that Rangers again late night tonight against the Angels,
against the Angels tomorrow, and then three with Seattle. There are five games left in the regular season and they are getting close to clinching and anything goes on clinch night. Guys, Ryder Cup is this weekend. When I get home from Trees on Friday night, if you're seeing Electric six a great band, when I get home from that, I'm gonna get home, probably a little little buzzed, and I'm gonna turn on NBC and I'm gonna watch the Ryder Cup, my number one sporting event of all time, and it's
not even close. I love that. You love it so much. There is no number two. It's one, and then there's like the seventh favorite. It's so good. Yeah, and right when it starts on the first day is pretty damn juicy. Two warning for everyone out there and Danny Friday morning to be distracted. I'm with you. We're gonna have it cranked up in here. Yeah, watching our boys. How do we want to do Ryder Cup one on one? What are we doing? Remember, Danny knows
what it is. He's not a nay yet, but I think he has questions. We have information where the golf bullies. Yeah, well the Ryder comack you around all knowledge? Ye before Danny asked questions. Let me just get this out of the way. You just don't answer any of my questions. All right, But I shall say the Ryder Cup is not golf. The Ryder Cup is about patriotism. He's right, it's going to play golf. It's like anyone who got golf. It's a big display of flags.
Oh, it is the biggest play of flags and outfits. Yeah. For the people that do that stuff. Yeah, Okay, you're just saying that you hate America. Okay, I mean, if you want to be that guy that's on you. You're the one who's gonna put your head to the pillow. If you hate the troops, that's on you. That's something you're gonna have to deal with. And you can look yourself in the mirror. US First Europe Danny. Danny questions, shall we hit me? All right?
Let me get my list. Okay, let's start a list. Question number one, how long has this thing been going on? Nineteen twenty seven, Danny? What the first ever Ryder Cup? It was matched with the US against Great Britain. That's how this began. And then and I think it was nineteen seventy three, I believe Great Britain team was officially changed to Great Britain and Ireland because Great Britain was like, these Irish dudes are pretty
good, we need a couple of them on board. And they actually played on Team Great Britain before they made that change, and then it was it was a Great Britain in Ireland for a few years. The nineteen seventy nine the GB and I as it was called, squad was expanded to include players from all of continental Europe, which is what we see today. You s versus Europe love it Okay, So in America, a lot of the tournaments kind of have a father of the tournament. You know, you have the
Buick Open, I guess which was tiger Woods big tournament. Who would you say is the father of the Ryder Cup. Who was the guy that was the big proponent maybe even came up with the idea? Where did it originate? And why seven Valsteros was one of the guys who is seen as the big I don't know, promoter of it even. And then on the American side, it was in the modern era. Modern era I'm talking about the origin of came up with the idea for this. It had to have been
it was God on some level. It was God. And then the troops, sure the idea two men. I know it's named after English businessman Sam Ryder. Samuel Ryder. He donated the trophy, which is a very iconic trophy as well. We're going to get to the Claret Jug in a moment. Guys, well that's not what this is. This is not the Claret Jug. But yeah, I don't know. I mean, that's the dude
who's it's named after. I don't know. I think they were golf in their asses off in the twenties and said let's do a little team competition, settle it. Yeah, but in the modern era, Sevy, well that's who I mean that it's Sevy was started in nineteen twenty seven. It's been going on for a very long time. But you're right, in the modern era, the guys we think of is the face of the Europeans, fior
Euros. Yeah, and there's a thought for a long time that it means more to the Euros because American golf dominance has been a thing for a lot of decades generally speaking, and Americans, to some in the world, even golf were unrelated, are considered selfish and more interested in themselves. So the team aspect is really embraced by the Europeans. But okay, next question, what kind of pageantry should we expect big events like Super Bowls, World Series.
They bring out celebrities, they bring out luminaries, What kind of what kind of pomp and circumstance is going to be surrounding this tournament, if any at all. Well, the biggest celebrity they'll have is probably just somewhere near the first team column. Montgomery is just over there eating a bowl of pasta. Jiggling his man breasts. Hut Kevy is gonna be there. I know
you get a press pass. Yeah. I don't know that there's celebrity involvement that you can count on, but what there is is the highest level of fan involvement and engagement. You will have synchronized chants galore. Anytime they play this stuff in Europe, which they are this year in Rome at Marco Simone, we will have scores of people decked out in exact outfits, matching outfits,
singing, doing chants. And I get to say, Europeans destroy US fans as far as chance go. Ours is more of just a drinking show here in America and over there they have. It's very coordinated, it's very it's just more intense, I would say, yeah, but it's just the number one thing that you don't think about this in golf much. It's just
the idea. A guy hits a shot into the bunker for the other country and everyone goes yeah, they're cheering in his face, and a guy for your team rips it down the middle of a fairway and you're going hot dog and everyone jelling, and it's just it's just amazing. It's all the whole thing, because every single point matters for this team aspect, that's what matters. Yeah. That brings me to my next question. What determines I know, this event happens every two years, correct? Yeah, okay? What
determines the location? I think they go back and forth between Europe and the United States, they alternate. Yes, Well, what determines what course that it's going to be played on? Is there a bidding situation? Is it already predetermined years in advance of where these events are going to be? The Ryder Cup is going to be held, do you but by a long time? Ye? But what constant? I mean who who makes those decisions? God? God, I actually don't know that. I give up. I
don't know. Is it the PGA OF and the U and the RNA, I mean they work together, This is a this works for both. Yeah. I mean they are rewarding courses with this. I mean it's much like assigning a major to a course. I mean, it's it's a good thing, you know, I mean everyone. I don't think it's very combative.
I mean they're trying to award venues with the honor of hosting the Ryder Cup, which is massive do the venues themselves lobby Okay, that's our new headquarters in Frisco's lobbying to get it in twenty thirty nine or twenty forty one, I believe, and it could be earlier than that. Twenty thirty one and twenty thirty five are both on accounted for it right now. But yeah, Bethpage Black in New York will host the twenty twenty five one. That is
the Black Course. It's, of course so hard. They have a sign on the front that says regular golfers don't come around here, like, don't play these teas, you don't belong here. It's kind of cool, like it's a famous hard course. But we get to see some cool European courses that aren't in the British Open Roto, which tends to be the only courses that US American fans know are the ones in the rotation for the British Open, Right St Andrews that like the famous courses Troon and all this, so
they jump out. We've remember seen Marco Simone. I haven't. It's probably on the euro Tour or on the DP World Tour, but that's in Rome. There's a course in Ireland twenty twenty seven. That's that's kind of cool that we'll be able to see for the first time. So yeah, I mean, it's certainly a ward to host this thing, and but how that actually shakes out, I'm not positive. Okay, let's do a little speed round. How has lived impacted the field this season or that for this tournament.
Well, Dustin Johnson was not ranked as the top golfer, so he couldn't automatically automatically qualify Brooks Kepka is on the team, Bryson d Shambo is not. There's a feeling that there could be some politics involved there because Justin Thomas, who is on the tour, was selected. But he's a friend of everyone's, including Tiger Woods. But Zach Johnson is your Ryder Cup captain and he is a PGA Tour loyalists, so it does feel like he would
probably shun most of the live guys either way. The live guys were not going to get automatic bids because they were not getting PGA Tour points in the top six of the twelve people on the team are automatic bids based on their tour points. Don't make sense. It made it harder for live players to automatically qualify, they essentially couldn't, so they have to be so good that the captains would have no choice but to leave him off and keepco is the
only one that fit that category. Okay. Two more, how much do players make for participating and or winning the Ryder Cup? Free? Nothing? Do they cover their expenses? Yes, there's no monetary benefit. This is simply for national pride. Yes, that's one of the things that makes it awesome. I agree. The only time you're not just playing for yourself, you're playing for the partner that you're paired with or obviously singles is Sunday. But yes, it is a whole different sport, which time it's cool to
go to work and not get paid seriously? Okay, which brings me to my final question, and this is the big one that I think most people that are just kind of casual golf viewers that don't maybe know much about the Ryder Cup want to know what makes the gameplay different than a typical PGA event like the Masters, US Open, etc. Why is the Ryder Cup different, How does it work? How is it structured? Tell me, well, the the format of play is different. It's not just one hundred and
fifty six people playing golf against each other. They partner them up, so you basically get two guys going off against two other guys, two Americans versus two Europeans, okay, and you have six per okay. But they go out to eight at a time, basically the four teams at a time, so there are four points on the line every time they go out. So there's two sets of play on Friday, two sets of play on Saturday.
Don't understand what you mean? Two play Friday morning. Yeah, they're gonna play two on two, right, and it's foursomes or four ball the first one morning four it's foursomes and that's all right, Actually that's yeah, that's foursomes, which is alternate shot. So they're gonna go out there on the first tea, which i'll tell you about tomorrow because there's some amazing quotes about
the first tea. It's called the most terrifying shotting golf. And all these dudes who are these legends of golf cannot put the ball on a te their hands are shaking so bad. But they're gonna go out there Friday morning into this cauldron at Marco Simone and it'll be two on two. It'll be two
Americans versus two Europeans, and they're playing alternate shots. So let's say that the two Americans are whoever Speth and Thomas right, ye, Speth teas off first, Thas second takes the second shot, Speth hits the third, back and forth and then and from that point it's eighteen holes and you just play. Then it's match play. So if if the Speth and Thomas make a par let's say, and then the European team of Stepstraka and ludvig Aberg make a bogey, the US is one up. And no matter how much you
win that whole bud Yeah. And if if Sepstraca pumps it out of bounds and then they retee it, and then he puts it in a lake and then they drop it, he hits in a bunker, and the US is on the green right by the hole in two, the US the European team can concede. You don't even have to finish the whole. You're like, oh, well, you win the hole, pick him up and a wash is a wash. Push yeah, I'll square, And each team gets half
a point. So there's four matches going on. At once, and they'll flash the leaderboard or the scoreboard up on the graphic and you'll see the American flag or the European flag based on who's winning up or whatever. And you get a point for each of these matches. So there's four matches in the morning, four matches in the afternoon. Saturday, there's four matches in the morning, four matches in the afternoon. Sunday, there's twelve one on one
match matches. Is it all about points? All that? It's all about winning your match play battle and winning a point. The best you can do is win one point, and the team wins. Like that, the country wins, the region wins on at the end of the all the golfing's done on Sunday. What determines the winner of the Ryder Cup. So there's twenty eight total points. You have to get fourteen and a half points to win, Okay, So whoever gets to fourteen and a half wins the Ryder Cup.
Now is this a person or is the no team the team? Yeah, there's four. Yeah, there's twenty eight total points and all the stuff he just said, including twelve points available on Sunday, and whoever gets to fourteen and a half wins. Now, if it's a tie, which has happened, the team that has the Ryder Cup retains it. So if they tie fourteen to fourteen, which does happen, the US, who's who won at Whistling Straits and the last Ryder Cup here in Wisconsin, would would retained
the Cup and essentially win the Ryder Cup. US is not one in Europe since what ninety two, a long ass time. Europeans have dominated US over
there. For sure. We just now won two years ago. We won for the first time in a long time, and this is good, like a historical landmark that goes back, that involves Tiger and phil And maybe we'll talk about that tomorrow and might give us a little bit of information about the course, and I might ask for more clarity on the structure and the gameplay, because I still don't feel one hundred percent like I understand it sounds like the games change every day. Yes, yeah, so it's like three different
types of Golf's three different types of golf. And there's a chance you don't even finish the eighteen yeah. Yeah. If if your team is four up and there's only three holes left, there's no point what can you possibly do? And then you turn around to do it again that night. Yeah, and you switch partners if you want. If you did really good, you're gonna stick with your partner. If you didn't, Zach Johnson's and the squad are going to change partners. Some people sit out those first two games.
They don't even play those first two days because there's there's what eight guys to play, so you don't have to play. Yeah, you might not play at all until your singles match Sunday. Sometimes, Yeah, some guys won't because some guys are on the team probably shouldn't be on the team. Yeah, like a very bad form, or if you just got your balls blown off, They're like, all right, you ain't playing in the afternoon. I don't understand singles match. Can we hit that up off at the top?
Absolutely, real quick. We're called the golf bullies, but we're friendly and we want you to like I've ever met. We didn't even take my lunch. Yeah, exactly, that's next. Plus, oh my god, also, can we get next to the scuttle butt. I've got something very interesting involving the new video board at the American Airline Center. I saw it last Night Next. On Night seven, won the Freak
