I don't want any more app. I don't need anything else. But if you frequent the places, like there's a place that I do frequent, I'll tell you it's a little place by my house called Chipotle. You get the app I had. I still don't have the app, and I'm like, what am I doing? There's points I'm leaving on the table, and I'm waiting in the line, like half of the DFW police force was in

there. I waited by behind fifteen people and there's people walking in, picking up, walking out, don't not talking to anyone, and I'm like, what why am I doing this to myself? Get the app You've probably eligible for, like a free birthday bowl too, or a birthday burrito. Yeah, yeah, they remember those things. You strike me as a Miles guy. We'll get your points. Miles, I don't do it for yeah, get get your head right. It's simple, very simple. MAVs Nuggets.

Yesterday National TV two thirty was going down and it was a hell of a game. How about you, guys? I was in double screen mode. How did you? How did you intake? Daniel watched it on the TV. Oh, so you weren't freaking out for the players? I know. I was all in on MAVs. I had to, okay, So I tape delayed it as I record all the MAVs games that are available to me on YouTube TV, so I was able to blast through commercials. But boy, I was that the last you know, second half of that fourth quarter

was just incredible, just insane. And the thing I loved about that game is in a game, you know, in a sport where it's all about runs and it's not uncommon for a team to get down fifteen points and they're still in it. That game was so close the entire time until the MAVs created a little bit of separation and you watched that evaporate. You know what,

were they up by twelve fourteen? At one time they started going and run the clock out mode the five minutes left, up by ten with five minutes left, and everything turned into well, let's just kind of make sure we eat twenty four seconds, and I was like, that's not good. Or their strategy of let's just let the ball sit at half court or on the in the back court until somebody actually comes up to challenge me. That was fun. I don't know if that rule I didn't either. I neither.

I'm surprised more people aren't don't take advantage of that. So the ten second thing doesn't start until you touch it. Yeah, Now, I knew that the rolls to a stop, it can just sit there, yes, eternity. I knew that the game clock started, and I knew that the shot clock did not start until you picked up the ball once it was inbounded. But I did not know that the eight second rule wasn't in place.

I had no idea, but yeah, you can just inbound or can just like roll the ball in and if it comes to a stop in the back court, it can sit there for twenty five minutes until the quarter runs out, until somebody comes up and and you know, play. If Luca's doing the Tyron Smith, yeah, you look like a flag football lineman kind of with his hands down and just getting big. Yeah. Interesting making space at

a GA pit concert. All right, right, I wonder if there's a you could get like a Rugby scrum if you really want to kill time. Yeah, you know, you get the inbounder and you get your your four guys and wait for the inbounder to come in, and you just create lock arms and create this serta of impenetrable kind of left and right. If you need to, should be slide, should be slide. Somebody just kind of manning the ball in case amazing, you get a minute that way easy.

They're gonna foul you coming in. Sure. You know how many times we talk about the Mavericks, you know, like, hey, if they shoot the ball, well then yeah they'll probably win. If they don't, I mean, this was the rare game where the MAVs did not shoot the three point or well at all, or twenty six percent I think from three and that is nothing from PJ. Washington another zero for four, and that was kind of a point of contention, like, hey, dude, if you're

open, shoot the three. We have to make shooting. If you shooting looks Maxie had one of the rough second halves you've seen now. He played decent defense, and that's kind of why he's in the game at that point. It reminded me of two years ago when Maxie could not make a shot in the second half of the year, and then in the Utah series in the playoffs he lit up and got on fire, and I hope we're looking

at that again because he isn't a bad place offensively too. I've gotten to the point now where I think I've finally been able to manage and lower my expectations. Anytime I see him or Timmy in the game, I just yeah, it's it's hard to watch. It's hard to watch MAXI with an offensive eye. Yeah, these days, and it has been for a long time. But yeah, he's in there for defense and Hardaway's in there to give relief and he if he gets that one out of fifteen games where he's on

fire. It's a joy to watch, but those stretches seem really far and few in between to get hot tim hardaway. But dude, they did the same thing against Golden State, you know where they shot like ass from three and they got all of their game and from number one defense. Mavericks played great defense yesterday, offensive rebounding points in the paint, dunks. I thought they handled the Joker as good as any team can. And it's so awesome to have two I mean, you call them bigs. When you put them

up next to the Joker, they look like bean poles. But still we have an interior presence now and it seems to be kind of their go to. Yeah. Yeah, it was a good trade season for the MAVs to make life better and it's to have those big boys thrown them down all day and miss I mean, Luca got mad at Lively on one of them. He's like, just don't just don't get in there. But they have so much fun just getting the ball inside real quick, both of them, Luke

and Kyrie getting to those big boys and throwing down. It's working and it's just like a little bit against everything we've kind of said, like, well, they're gonna to do. These other guys have got tonsul Outside of Lively, not any of these other guys had a very good offensive game. Gafford was good in his limited minutes too, just kind of keeping things alive and things like that. None of those other guys played very good on offense.

And it was Kyrie and Luca and then is there enough to get through it? And it shows you, Okay, maybe they can win in a multitude of ways. Let's go to they're no longer one dimension, no, not at all. And let's go to the end here. So it's one o five, one oh two. You've squandered a ten point lead with five minutes left. And it happened real fast the inbound play, for reasons I'll never understand, Luca was allowed to catch the ball and then knocks down a three

dead at the top of the key. I mean that was really five feet behind the three point line. That was the big one because you're down three, and plus he got the shot off quick enough to know then you wouldn't have to foul. You can just play d even if they hit it, you're gonna have a few seconds. But he lucas always, so he's got a damn internal clock in his head. That's just amazing to always know when

two for ones on the table. But yeah, he's like, screw it, top of the key, knock it down and then you have the time even if they score. I couldn't believe they let him catch the ball off of it inbound. Yeah, and it was a bad pass by MAXI. He's loose behind Luca had to catch it and then square up and then okay,

he knocks it down and that's great. And I immediately after the game, before we get to what happens, I immediately thought, we're gonna do this again, where we're like, that's just like a huge play that might just get forgotten in the grand scheme of things. Well, once again, just overshadow Luca's thirty seven point victory because Mavericks is gonna stop. When Jamal Murray shoots the ball with five seconds left, good open mid range. Look, I thought he was gonna make it, and I think we all did,

probably from the previous three and he was heating up. He's good. He misses the Mavericks to get the board, take a time out with two point eight tickets, left the ball the inbound to Kyrie takes it runs okay, dribble to the left and then from the right elbow with Jokitch on him, a left handed sky hook out of nowhere, perfection, MAVs win. Do you think the coach kids stood up and yelled Irving? No, no, I see it's skyhook. It sounds cleaner like it was like a left

handed half push. I've never even seen a shot like that. Okay, So get this. I read a Mark Stein's old newsletter last night or today early this morning. In his career, Kyrie is okay, I write this down. Yeah. Irving entered Sunday's play shooting thirty eight for eighty seven this season with his left hand. So that's a lot of layups, Yeah, contested shots near the basket thirty eight for eighty seven with his left hand. Do the quick math there. That's close to one in three. Maybe it's

a little a little better, a little better. He had a great right in the lane, left handed finish. I mean he does that all the time, all the time. I don't think it matters to him. As Skin said the other night, it helps to be amphibious on the broadcast. He actually said I hate it, and no one went back and said he's not a frog, Jeff, Wait, that's not a frog? Really? Yeah, they didn't say anything, not a word. It helps to be

amphibious, amphibious. Did he wait for the laugh? There was a little bit of silence, and I kept waiting for for follow l Or or Devin to say he hat a frog, bro, But no, well he is, so he does not care. So I guess left. He doesn't matter at all. But even the way that he got that shot off, it's was abnormal and I'm I don't want to sit here and say that he didn't

practice that, but I don't know how you practice that. You heard Richard Jefferson on the on the National broadcast was like, make no mistake about it. He spends a lot of time working on shots like that, and I was like, not that specific one. And because it was the seven foot joke itch in his face, it's the only shot he had when he was trying to dribble towards daylight real fast, because when he caught it in the

corner, he was kind of shut down. I think it was Michael Porter who was there, who's tall, and he was just trying to run and get in the paint and then realize they got to get something up and it was just perfect. It was so perfect in the game, Luca's reaction just laughing, laughed down and then Mark Cuban runs on the floor. He's freaking out the whole team. I mean, that was just a beautiful and the MAVs, I think their website put out a good like one minute and a

montage at the end. All that was just so perfect of all the angles. Let me ask you this, though, I don't want to be Debbie Downer, but I guess you can't even apply it to Kyrie because he's a witch. Is that a bad shot? I mean it went in that we're all celebrating, but if he clangs it, we're like, she's all right? What was that? It wasn't like what you would think of. Is the shot you want to get off with what two seconds left from the clock. Yeah, but it's Kyri. I guess it's like, dude, you

much like Luca. It's like, whatever you do is the right, right and best option. I don't know, is it a good shot to do something that you don't look? He doesn't practice that. He may practice left handed jumpers from the elbow and maybe even skyhook, but it was the running, soaring left handed kind of a baby hook push. He just kind of threw it in. It's a weird floater. I don't even call it a floater, dude. It was a hook shot. It's a freaking hook shot.

I mean it was a hook shot without the deep wind up. You know, it's kind of like if you have to, like, if you have to write on paper what this is. I mean, you know, it's if it's a hook shot, a shove, like a shove, it's a shot. It's just it's just a one hand that is. It's a one handed runner. It's a it's a floater. It's a I mean, it's perfect and even like a unique odd dude whatever. I don't know what you call him, but everything he does is cool. Even his game winning

celebration, he kind of does the left hold up left. That's a left one. That's so good. Like Luca, you could tell he's a kind of a nerd. Like he's what he did the spas out against the Knicks, one of the worst celebrations ever. Even yesterday, he goes up, He's like, what the like the emotions are on the sleeve, and I don't think Kyrie's planning in his head to make sure I maintained cool here,

but his cool turned into that just left and he was so happy. Ah. And the fact that we're having trouble describing or not describing, but like naming whatever that shot was tells you how unique it was. It was, Yeah, it was unconventional. But to those guys that look, they have such a great feel for the ball, where the goal is, how much time is left, the spacing, who's guarding them, where the other guys are, and they compute all this stuff and they're incredibly deep IQ basketball brains

in nanoseconds. So this is what they do. This is just what they do. And when you're as good as Luca or Kyrie, yeah, you probably do practice that stuff a little bit. How much wacky ass crap do we see on Instagram and TikTok of stuff that Luca does, you know, in practices before games and shoot arounds that you're like, when would you ever use that? All those guys are jacking around doing stuff like that just to get a feel for what it feels like. You know, Dad goes,

just make your free throws. Yeah, you need to be out there shooting free throws. But dude, their instincts are just their level of skill. You can put them in pretty much any situation and they're going to figure out a way to score. And especially Kyrie, I mean, he's just pure. I love him so much and I can't believe here we are over a year into this experiment. Yeah, and I love it because there's nothing bad you can say except that he gets hurt sometimes. They figured out how to

play together. You love this team so much because there's rarely, if ever, a time we're not one or both of them are on the floor during at any point in the game. All right, and if you're the Nugget, you're going with Jesus, who do I cover here? Exactly? My little attention on Luca. Okay, well, here's one of the greatest finishers

of all time. And Kyrie, I mean, the Mavericks have a chance to really do damage in the playoffs, even though they've had some ups and downs because of just that, because of those guys being absolute stars and depth is just helps him makes it easier for that. And in that play, it's not lost on Kyrie that Joker knows that Kyrie's best best move to score is for to be able to go around Joker and get a floater or a lay in. That's probably why Joker wasn't playing him too tight. You know,

he was on him, but he wasn't on him. I mean, if he was playing him tight, he probably doesn't try that shot. So yeah, it's pick your poison many and they're both on the court at the same time. Everything that Irving does, even wilder is that it's Ramadan and he is a Muslim, so he's fasting, and devout Muslims do not drink water. I don't know if that applies to an NBA star. I shouldn't, I think. I think even doctors would tell you not to. But

he is fasting. Those that observe Ramadan for nearly a whole month only eat after sundown and before sunrise, so anytime that the sun is up, they do not eat. And I know he does that. I don't know if he applies it to no water during the time that the sun is up. But that makes even more interesting that the dude is fasting, you know, And I know he was asked about it in the in the postgame, speaking of that fast and how difficult or not difficult? Is it? Play kind

of just give us some light to that situation. Yeah, Man, Ramadan is a special month, so it's a special time, and yeah, it's just you try not to think about the suffering too much and really focus on the journey with God and the path that you're on and just stay focused on that and stay disciplined. Is a difficult journey. And you know, to be able to play forty eight minutes and not do it with having a drink or any food in my stomach is nothing short of a miracle. So there's

definitely a universal God out there that's protecting me. And I got to give credit to Yeah, I mean it says devout Muslims, which I would imagine Kyrie he said no drink. Knowing him, he probably adheres to the more devout option. I don't know if maybe a halftime IV counts as a drink. Okay, I don't know. Great question. I'm not saying he got one, but sure there's got to be some plan though you can't go out there and play that level. I agree, how without some type of hydration.

I see's used to it somehow, but imagine mustachioed basketball coach in like nineteen eighty one having a player say, look, I'm not eating or drinking for a month. I'm sorry the whole month of March when like the playoff push, you know. But it's kind cool that a modern you know, you know, so he can eat when the sun goes down. They yeah, yeah, I think you and you do eat. I'm what I just

read. Trust me, I'm not acting like I know that when the yeah, between sundown and sun up, you can eat, and that's where you have to get your sustenance for once the sun comes up, no food and for people that are stagnant, I think no water. Now he just said it, I don't know. Well, and let's ask skin or ask somebody and we can probably get that info. Is does Kyrie's you know, fasting during Ramadan include water during the day? But again, he just said forty

eight minutes with no food or water. In me ridiculous, Like someone behind the scenes at least few years ago is like, what, No, I don't care drink. You have to drink water. This is important, this is your job. But if he's truly not having water anyway, just another

level of Kyrie his brain being stronger than all of ours combined. Internet sleuth doubters are are doing after I have done, after listening to that those comments, going back and just eyeballing the MAVs bench on every every camera shot to see if he if he took a sip full, that'd be wasted energy. Just let us have this one. He's a legend. Bottom line, you got a pretty damn big important win after a tough game, you know,

losing without Luca. Kind of expected that against Oklahoma City on the road, and then for them to come back and beat the world champs, the number two team in your in your conference in that fashion. That was pretty cool, man, because they definitely needed that. They are avoid it. If they keep this up, they're going to avoid the place tomorrow. Wimby Action.

You can hear that here on the Freak as always coming up next in the scuttle, but get some really funny audio plus top fifteen places you could be hit by a car in Dallas next time. One fre
