You're listening to the Downheat on ninety seven to one The Freak Thanks to the great mc come in as who brought up the artwork for the Daytona five hundred bed. I was tasked with drawing a picture of Bill Elliott when I lost the Daytona five hundred bed and Mick. Because I'm a terrible artist, I was like, you know, let's get Mick to do something. So Mick

brought it up here this morning. If you want to see that, I've posted the video you have at ninety seven won the Freak on TikTok, at ninety seven one The Freak on Instagram, and shortly it'll be up on at ninety seven to one The Freak on Twitter as well. If you would like to see the video of the cool artwork involving Bill Elliott, Kevio and Vin Diesel. It's the Big three kind of incredible. It is absolutely beautiful painting

a painting. I don't know what you call it because he does it digitally, but he does it all by hand. Yeah, I have to call it artwork just because I don't know. It's ridiculous, is what it is. I'm so ridiculously awesome, not Envious is not the word. But I'm so fascinated by people who can just quickly draw cool stuff. Thank you, thank you, because I'm terribly Christina can draw cool stuff too, and you can hear her on the Benskin Show from ten to two. I just saw

her and ben Skin. Where are they? Are they in their new secret office? All past it? Really, have you guys voted for in the primaries? You're you guys getting down on that? Oh will? How long do I have? I think polls close on Friday. I'll vote this week. That was something special for our listeners, hopefully this week before primaries. Happened before the polls closed for primaries. So stay tuned for that. Okay, right now, JJ to the Sport Report. Okay, Sport Report,

All right, thank you groups. Have you guys seen the picture of Alex Treverguez. I'll have the latest one. Yes, the thing that's really took the internet by storm over the weekend, in which there was actually one picture where he was sitting next to I think he was sitting next to was it Spike Lee or someone? I wish I remembered the place he was sitting next to? A black guy. Let's put it that way and that so the post online they were making fun that was sitting next to an incredibly white woman

dressed in all white. Yeah. Yeah, the blonde chick and he's wearing a white girl and there's like like, oh my god, everyone's darker than Steven A. Smith. Now was like what the post was online is going around. So Aeron, who's now weirdly like co owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves as like at all their games front row and doing interviews during tea Wolves games of like how they can improve the team. I'm like, okay, I

didn't know he was like I had it like that. I knew he had a stake in it, but it seems like he's kind of highly involved. Well he is getting you know, taking it in the shorts all weekend because of how dark he looks. And he did the thing where he goes online boy and he tells he says, here's what happened. J here we go, crack it up, all right, everybody. I know that I'm dark, but I am Dominican and I went on vacation and I fell asleep in

the sun. So everybody calm downloo mihinte, Yeah, that means calm down apparently. Okay, first of all, the serial killer laugh maybe this in the sen so uh, we blasted that crime in the last segment where I told you those people were telling the truth. Yep, he's lying. Oh but what's he doing. I mean he had some tanning or spray tanning or whatever. It's perfect around his entire head and ears and neck. The color is consistent. If you fell asleep in the sun, you'd only fall asleep

one direction. True, we'd have a blending in the neck area towards the back of the head. It's perfect everywhere. Well let the reverse Sami sosas some people were calling it. Yeah like that. I don't know. But a Rod's such a vain dude. He might have He might be telling the truth. I'm telling you, like we get in the sun the eighteen years I played softball. Yeah, yeah, this was not my color, but perfect around your head everywhere. But I'm thinking maybe he went and just went

on ahead and tan like the rest of it. He probably was spotted like okay, yeah, and just went on ahead. It was just like, let me not look stupid, you know, I'm let me even know. It's kind of weird. It looks shockingly dark, like I thought. I actually saw his apology that what you just played first before I saw the pictures, and I'm like, oh, yeah, I believe calm down, everyone apologies just like he's like, I'm Dominican, I was in the sun. I got darker, like it happens. But then I saw the photos.

It just is really weird. It looks sprayed on, is what it looks like. This video of is his house. It's like real dark in his house. So he's make sure there's no lighting as he's looking. I mean, dude, there's nothing worse than the fifteen second phone in your in your face. I gotta clear something up post. Those usually don't go well. Those usually aren't a big thank you to your fans. Yeah, they're always a little different. Oh he's laughing about it, and that's fine, like

good, but something else was afoot there. Yeah, I agree, it is shocking. I don't know what it was. Something they of the tea walls. By the way, him and his partner, are you serious? Yeah, they got up in there. It's still wild to me that he was here for like three years and we were terrible. So he gave him two hundred and fifty million dollars two hundred and fifty two million dollars and and paid him forever while he was gone, and he was great. Yeah,

and we had nothing around him. We were hoping that basic would get guys out. I think, yeah, bad plan. So uh, one more clip from SNL that I want to put for you, guys. They did a you know, all these gambling commercials are happening, Draftkicks, Fan Duel, They're everywhere everywhere. Well, this is Shane gell Us again, the comedian. This is Keenan Thompson, and it's Marcelo Fernandez and who's kind of the new Pete Late. He's in all the skits. Ladies are lusting after.

Marcello Hernandez, the short King, apparently very popular. He's pretty funny. This is for rock Bottom Kings. We all know a friend who struggles with online gambling, a friend who's on the verge of losing everything, his house, his family, his entire life. And now you can bet on exactly how he'll lose it all in a rock Bottom James. It's the only

apple. Lets you take prop bets about how your degenerate gambler friend he's finally gonna hit rock Bob, Will it mean goes double on a random WNBA game? Or that's his child's college fund on the coin toss. And when your friend is desperate for cash, you can bet on what his lowest moments will be. Will he take out a life insurance policy on his own mother? Will he set up a fake goat fume that says he has leukemia? And what will he sell first? Is PS five or his kidney? And you

can build a parlay about everything that could happen to him. Divorce, Mary's rich old widow, arrested for elder fraud and takes his own death, but is immediately caught when he uses an app to gambles rock Bottom Kings. You'll feel like you're in the game, the game of your friend versus this horrible demons. Well, now you are the house and your friend's probably gonna lose his Does it seem a little cruel to bet on your friend's devastating addiction?

Sure, but it's also hilarious. So however, your friend bottom's out, make sure you cash out at rock Bottom Kings. Download rock Bottom Kings today because gambling is serious, seriously awesome. Rock Bottom Kings he's the one with the problem. That's funny. I don't have a problem. I don't have a problem. He's got the problem. Gamble on when your friend goes bud

It is weird how every other commercial, Yeah, especially during sports. Yeah, I edited it out, but just because there's more of a visual. But they're talking about it's why all our commercials have fireworks and explosions in the background, and it shows like you just have to bet GM and the Caesars commercials, huge celebrity cameos and fireworks every time. Goal. Lot of gold, lots of gold. I had a good week on DraftKings Mikey Mexico Open. Yeah. Oh yeah, we were sweating it too. We can could

have been more. Yeah, what'd you do? One hundred and fifty? Okay, yeah, yeah, we're sweating. We're sweating five hundred bucks. Yeah, you sweat that. I went into big sweats like Mike's been in before. Yeah, but I just shot at two hundred grand a couple of weeks ago. Oh that's right, just slipped through your fingers, finished sixty first out of forty seven thousand. You made like, what a thousand bucks? But that it's such a rarity Okay, look, gambling's fun, but

god it's bad. And I wonder how the the line is right now. And that's a funny bit you just played. But especially young people, you know, who think they're geniuses just pumping money into these things. We had a conversation, Mike and I had a conversation the other day with someone I'll say who it is, but they're talking about their kids and their kids' friends

like have these games. It's not betting on sports, but that he's like apps where you are making prop bets on things that will happen in these games. And I guess they're getting like I guess they're getting like coins out of it. Here. Let me I don't know the name of it, but yes, I have a friend who's kids. We were at the MAVs game. Let me see if there's a name, it doesn't really matter. And

he's like, he's he's the kids like playing on an app. The kid's ten years old and the kids got a parlay going on games on like the maps in the under or Luca Points in the over or whatever, and it's four kids. It's I that's no. I asked them. I'm like, let me see this app. Because I was curious if it was marketed toward kids, and I think it kind of is. A ten year old shouldn't know what parlay, what the word parlay means, unless he's watching Pirates of

the Caribbean, you know, like he shouldn't know. Oh, it gives you three times the coins if you get them both. I mean, it's just one hundred percent grooming kids, So understand what I mean. It was gambling, but it's free, so you don't put money in it, but you unlock coins. Yeah, and then maybe it is the thing where you go to mommy and daddy's credit card and for one you can get ten more

coins to unlock this. That's what all those games are. We have another friend that his kids is addicted to sports, loves sports, and that's finck great. And he got on his dad's Draft Kings and dumped out of one hundred bucks or a couple hundred bucks because he didn't he didn't know it was. He thought he was entering. He loves fantasy football. He's just entering

all these fantasy football things and he spent his dad's money. Yeah, yeah, within the aut because your money's just on their Yeah, just touch it. And go. It's not like that's another thing. Imagine. Okay, so the kids growing up now have never had cash in their hands, that's true. I've never bought. Nothing's tangible. To sound so old right now, I know, but like, seriously, a ten dollars bill that buys you your coke and candy bar that you wanted. You know, you get

the change back, you hold it, you understand it. I know I have this much left wheneverthing is just zip. You can't know. If you're nine, you cannot get that. It is weird. Won't compute even your paycheck as an adult. You know, it goes in automatically. You never see any of it. It's all just just buttons. Well, I'll tell you what. When you would get your paycheck and at least take it to the bank, deposit it or put it in at least you would steal your

thinking about it a little more. Yeah, ye, here's a five second thing. And do you ever verify like what your paychecks are, because ours, I'll be honest, they fluctuate with you know, live spots that you do. But I never go back and like, I just trust that it's all done properly. I check probably every month or two, just just to look. You know, boy, I'm like the dream for this because I don't check any I don't check my credit cards. I pay them on time.

But it's like if the income is right or what's it could all be screwed up and I wouldn't know it. Do you ever check receipts when you go to like Target or Walmart or whatever, you get like a big you know, you got the big basket and it's two hundred and fifty bucks, and make sure what what do you mean like check that they wrung up everything properly. Yeah, just make sure you didn't get double charge or anything like that. Never, you probably just declined the receipt, don't you Yes,

meet a receipt. Nope, No, you probably don't shut up? Trust all right, it's a lot of trust. You're right, But do you do you think I'm more abnormal or someone that checks? So you say you

es moscially, well, don't check. You check the receipt And I mean I'm not making but sometimes at all, if it's like, look, you know, when I check it is if something feels off because I think we were we've shopped enough, you know, as old as we are we've shopped enough, you kind of know, probably subconsciously, what your tally is.

You know of you know how much it is when you take it off the aisle, and it's not like you're calculating it in real time, but you kind of have an idea of what it's probably going to be because those numbers can kind of just work together subconsciously that you know, and if something seems a little out of the norm, then you'll be like, you know, hang on a second, hang on a second, really, and I'll take a look just to make sure. Usually is one I'm already at the car,

but yeah, well a scoreboard. But I think most of the time it's they get it right, you know, ninety percent of the time, maybe more, probably higher than that. I always support I want gambling. I want casinos to be legalized here because I think it'd be cool to have a giant casino and the MAVs stadium at it. So I will vote and support in that direction if given the opportunity, But I'm not positive it's the

best idea. Well, I think it for society, like for me personally, like I'm cool, I think I despite what do you guys sometimes think? I think I know my limits, and uh, I want to have the opportunity to do something fun if that's what I want to do, or gamble on my phone. I like doing it. I feel like I limited pretty fairly responsibly. But if they took it away, you'd be fine, right? Or would you? Would you kind of Jones a little bit?

I probably probably Jones once like masters come up, do you feel like, honestly, and I'm being very serious, do you do you feel like it's kind of a slight addiction? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah it is? What about you, Kevin? I think it's a hobby. I think I like doing it. Okay, that's one thing. But if it went away, would you feel like it is like a psychological addiction? Is it just muscle memory? Uh? Just a pattern, a habit? Or is it like a Do you think it's like a true addiction to where you're you?

You would you would physically feel anxiety if it weren't no physical anxiety. But I mean, just like you said watching the Daytona five hundred with a little something on it, and ours was just a f and Bill Elliott painting, and you know, you gave you something that had so most MAVs games.

I'll watch them because I like the MAVs, but I'll bet some Luca over Unders and Kyrie and some fively is going to serial score eight tonight, Like I put a little bit on and it's something fun within the game that because it's strategy out much better if that was completely off the table and illegal or not an option, Yeah, that would that would leave a hole.

I think. Can I say something about that that daytona five hundred thing, because yes, I watched it with a different perspective because we did have, you know, albeit not like a huge nothing huge at stake. It made it a lot more interesting. It made it a lot more fun to kind of keep track and stick with it. But I'll tell you what, aside from that, it got me kind of interested in the sport to where yesterday

there I think there was a race yesterday Atlanta. Yeah, and I wasn't able to watch it because number one, I was I knew I was going to watch the MAVs because I feared that would be we talk about that a little bit today and I had malcolmys so it just wasn't you know, in the cards for me to watch it. But I found myself intrigued just to flat out watch the race because I had a really good time watching the Daytona

last weekend. That was freaking fun. Whether I had anybody in it or not, that was the drama of that and kind of understanding it a little bit better and it made more sense to me I could, I could kind of see the field. I would be clearer, way more likely to watch some of that race if it were tonight rather than yesterday afternoon. That's true. Yeah, yeah, And then the four o'clock MAVs game never happens.

But I was kind of watching what was happening at the end of the golf tournament, and I was kind of getting outdoors a little bit and just kind of doing some things outside as well, So kind of like, yeah, then Nascar, I even think once about Nascar. I'll tell you what that will The Daytona will not be the only race that I watched this year. Oh yeah, yeah. Someone texting NBA two K the video game you can

gamble on games to gain in game currency. Hell yeah. Yeah. So within you know, you're playing on your place and you can bet on an NBA game that night, and if you win, you get coins to unlock a retro jersey for whatever team you have as your favorite team. They are grooming kids to gamble. Well, you said it, you said it, yeah, just a few minutes ago. And I don't think it's any different than the advertising campaigns that used to, you know, subliminally target to children

for cigarettes back in the days. Well, Mike said something earlier like he said, yeah, it's not going to be like, I don't know, you said, I don't know if it's completely good, right, right, I don't know. Well, I think about it the exact same way I think about drinking. For a lot of people, drinking is not good, but they're allowed to do it. And that's why I think it's dumb that gambling is illegal here. Gambling should be legal and there will be stories of

people who lose everything because they did not do it responsibly. But is gamble responsibly. It's drink responsibly. To me, that is and it sucks, but it's not. But we would outlaw all these things then, like, dude, they're gonna be more people killed because of drinking. Then there are gambling. I'm acting like free on that right, yeah, actual debts. Yeah, So I mean, to me, if you're allowed to drink, and or drinking is are allowed to be promoted, then yeah, gambling should

be legal. Well, that is the thing that's so hypocritical about all of it. Alcohol arguably is the worst thing you can do as far as getting wrapped up in something, something that is physically it has no positive effects. It's literal poison that we put into our bodies. But it sure is fun, Sure is fun. Sure is fun, and it's okay. And some people can't handle it. I mean there was a time where you couldn't advertise hard liquor on television, and that's you see as many hard liquor adds as

I do beer. Alcohol just gets a repass. Well, and again it's like can we can most people handle it? Yes, there's just always gonna

be the stories people can't. The gambling thing is like, that's gonna be pushing there already doing that, Like the NFL Network's running commercials like Steve mary Ucci's up there in a drawing board how to gamble responsibly if you have a problem, call this number like the going to be of course, just like yes, we're being groomed for it, but it's still in some states we're the minority. At this point, the majority of states have legalized gambling.

We're the minority. The reason it hasn't here, I think is politics. And I'm sure it's gonna change, but i don't know if it will change with them five years maybe, But it should be legal because they're already doing it. It's just under the guise of strategy on draft kings and prize picks and uh fan duel and all these other sites that you can, you know, go get down on or you just make the Evada account and you do it that way. It's politics. There's a reason why gambling is not legal

here. There's a reason that marijuana isn't fully decriminalized here. It's because the majority of our populations in this state just don't live in big cities. This is a massive state, and a lot of people just don't. They don't have their heads around. They think there's people that still think marijuana is bad. Marijuana will kill you. That's that's the devil's leaf, you know, that's the gateway drug and then gambling the same way the small towns are running

square super Bowls. It's going on, like the amount of big money that's being spent at squares for the Super Bowl or every Cowboy game. You put in a big fee and it's up there in a field where the cow is gonna do do. Yeah. I mean think about how we we you know, turn we canonize these you know, the people that have pass or or family history of people that were in the bootlegging business when alcol hall was made illegal. You know, the people that were connected with bootlegging and making it

illegally and distributing it illegally, those were heroes. You know, my daddy was a bootlegger. Well what's the difference between daddy being a bootlegger and you know, cousin Frank being a pot dealer that's illegal? I know, you know, it's just there's so much effing hypocrisy when it comes to setting all of these these standards of being a conservative state that we live in. But

alcohol is just fine. Yeah, it's fine. And bootlegging is what led to NASCAR really yeah yeah, running He's right, running booze and that's how you bring something full circle. Daniel Swarez victorious yesterday in Atlanta. Apparently a three way photo finish, an incredible race. You may even want three way photo finished, just like in cars with lightning McQueen like in cars. Coming

up next, we might get to that baseball pant thing. Come on, yeah, that's your Birthday's talk backs from the red microphone button on the iHeartRadio app You can have it all next to ninety seven won the Freak
