Transcript

You're listening to the Downbeat one the Freak. That's all ra live performance happening right now at the Ryder Cup in Italy, as they are fifteen hours away from tee off and they've getten live performances from a band which sounded a lot to me. It sounded a lot to me like Portugal the Man, but it's not it maybe fits in the tantrums. That is not fits in the tantrum. Who is it? It's some spare from Italy that people are seated

watching this guy perform and they're all looking at their phones. He was singing an English voice. The whole crowd is just sitting there in their chairs doing nothing except for Jim Furi, who's standing there dancing like a maniac. You know, I told you just humping air. It's the Downbeat with Kevin Danny, Mike's Roy and JJ. I told your brother carry after he solves a crime, like I told your brother Cash at his fiftieth birthday party him.

I told him the day I met you, we came across the legendary golfer's credit card. Oh and he forgot that's right, do you remember that? Yes? It was Cooper's barbecue and Fort Worth right after Colonial right, probably Guy's night out of it or something. Davis loved the third third and we had the conversation of do we just keep it and put a little work in here? Yeah, And then we ended up taking it to him and he just said thank you, and he really didn't want us hanging around while he

was eating. I thought he would have been more like, pull up a chair and talk thanks buddy, and he really wasn't. But Davis loved the third has captain captain the Ryder Cup their weakest captain of all time. Zach Johnson. Oh, this is so bad. I don't want to crib my own predictions here. We're about to get smoked. Yes, we're about to get smoked again a gain on European soil. I mean, look, I don't think we're about to get smoked. I don't think we're about to get

smoked. I think it's gonna be tougher than it would be at home. It's I think we're a dominant team. The last four Rider Cups were basically blowouts, with the home teams winning. What's the overall record here, twenty seven and fourteen. Because we had a good run from nineteen fifty nine to nineteen eighty five, the Ray Floyd years from O two though, that was

but that was back before African American people played golf. Oh wait, yeah, Calvin Pete was one of the straightest drivers of the golf ball of all time. We've only won four times since ninety five. Let's make this modern, okay, four times since ninety five, two five. Zach Johnson is our captain this so we're four nine since nineteen ninety five. We got work to do. You think they're gonna he's gonna get their heads right, No, they're gonna laugh at it. It was Luke Donald gonna get the Europeans

head right. He's also known to be a goober. He's kind of a goober, but nowhere near as much as Zatch. Yeah. Wow, that just looks well with with real teams, the real teams, the players of their own captain. I think we all know that, we all know that it's a good thing. All the American PGA tour players are all getting along is they got a whole other tour just kind of going. You guys come over here with us, so we're getting to press play JJ. Just a

couple of minutes. But before we get there, it's time. Are you ready? Yeah, we do this on Fridays where we make we step inside the Ghost Pepper Pavilion and make hot football predictions. But today it's Thursday and we step into Hell's Halfway House to make our scorching hot rider cut predictions with our brand new bed music j Jack scorching hot predictions. I'm ready. Will each have three. We're gonna record these. We're gonna play these Monday.

I'm not gonna be here, but i still want you guys to be fair. We'll handle it maybe, and these go to the same point tally that the football ones are, just like the Beyonce. Yeah, it all goes in the same pot, all right. Where at Hell's Halfway House, Danny Bayliss, you have three scorching rider cut predictions of things that you believe are going to happen over the next three days. At Marco simone, Yes, number one, guys, Scottie Scheffler will play Friday with a curious stain on

his cap. Most will presume it is some form of p pasta sauce curious on his cap. There's a period after that, and that's the whole and that's tomorrow. Huh, tomorrow, only tomorrow. If he does it on Friday or Saturday or Sunday, my prediction does not come true. Just got to Italy, couldn't help himself, got some pasta on his hat, most will presume. Most so you're saying it's a stain. But there's a hint of red to it. But it's not like red red right, looks like

that could be pasta sauce. Frank Like the guy who's sitting next to him was eating pasta aggressively. Don't know pasta, and it just flung up a tomato onto his hat. Even who knows. We can we can only assume there's a stain on the cap. A lot of people are going to be saying it's pasta sauce. Number two, Sam Burns will contribute nothing for three days straight, and most people will consider his performance as one of the most worst and insignificant in Ryder Cup history. Wow, Sam burn Burns, I

mean, oh, I don't that one. That's mean it's a chance it's gonna be legendary. How bad? Well, it's nothing like that. Sam Burns performance in twenty twenty three. May be saying that fifty years from now. Fifty years. You know, the US was really on a good uh, they had a good trajectory to take the Ryder Cup in twenty three. But God, no one will ever forget that Sam Burns performance three days straight. Some of the most confusing golf this board has ever seen. Frank,

Okay, what the world in twenty seventy three? Yeah, like if if, if he's, if he's, he'll see only a few holes on the back nine. If he even plays, He's just not gonna see much of the back nine. Sam Burns just getting smacked, Yeah, just winging him into the trees. And okay forgetting his clubs. It's just gonna be embar sing for Sam Burns for three days straight and number three. Write this one down if you if you don't remember the other two, remember this little note

U As Vice Captain Stewart Sink will curiously be absent from Sunday singles. Speculation will be that he has the flu, but the gossip rumor will claim that he no showed Sunday because he was sleeping in from a cocaine and wine fueled evening out the night before with Christo Lamprecht and two unnamed Italian actresses. He's like, it's the most squared away, mild mannered guy, but he just

absolutely rips it up. One night and one Saturday night in Rome, yep with Christo, with Christo, twenty two year old Christo and fifty year old Stewart Sink and our mountain a mount Vesuvius of cocaine rage on Saturday night, he's gonna oversleep and miss the entire Sunday singles. And of course my hell At said, we believe that suffering from some flu like symptoms. But there's gonna be some Italian TAMZ people that are gonna have take real information information on

this. They got the truth on spink yet write them down, guys, Well, they're recorded. We'll replay these Monday and see how you did. But I like it very ambitious, it's very specific. This is your idea, Mike's, I'll do mine sure quickly. Victor Hoveland had a hole in one on her practice round. I pretty there will be a hole in one at during the Ryder cut three days two. The announcers won't mention Tiger Wood's

son Charlie. At some point during the three days of broadcasting. They will mention Tiger Wood's son Charlie, who I heard do an interview the other day and interesting, Okay, what does that mean? It's just about as much much of a report as we got on Shamirmir's death. It was interesting. Uh, the a drunk American. We'll do fake Italian voice in the crowd and you'll hear it at some point. Okay, and nice shot my wife.

Okay, high five. I don't hate them, but two of yours are contingent on listening to every piece of audio and three days of the I'm on it of Ryder Cup. You're not on it. Eight hours You're not gonna catch at all. I'm on it. You're not gonna catch them all there, Pikachu, dude, I gotta big Bender night planning Tomorrow night Electric six and to eight hours of ryder Cup. Actually on Monday from like two. It's gonna be you and me on Monday. I read fresh Flower Cavo

on Mounday. Not gonna have all right here inside Hell's halfway House. Ryder Cup predictions. Here's my three. You're ready to hit record number one, world number one golfer Scottie Scheffler's ice cold putter stays that way. Scheffler goes over as the European team wins the Ryder Cup with a convincing seventeen to eleven victory. Damn wow, you're in the halfway house. Step inside if you

got the guts. Number two, the fiery brit Terrell Hatton. This is a short putt on Friday to lose his match and engages in a heated exchange that ends with Team Europe vice captain Eduardo Molinari having to pull a Hatton off a screaming member of the Italian media. It's me, it's a me Terrell Hatton odds on favorite to have a cuss word the air. Oh he's nuts, He's say, no man, who would have ever guessed that we would predict that two vice captains would be involved in some form. Yeah, one

of them cocaine fueled missing the Ryder Cup. The other one just helped them out at a press conference, which was kind of their job. But I do want to picture a screaming member of the Italian media. Final prediction for the Ryder Cup. A beautiful and busty Italian streaker invades the first te box at Marco Simone Golfing Country club, and has tackled moments before her extended hand makes contact with Sepstraca's infamous Austrian penis. There's a lot of ways to get

a half point here. So many has tackled before touching. I'm writing this down moments before moment making contact with except Struck is infamous, infamous and penis gosh and and it's infamous for not being that big though with he's a girth. Yeah, well, thank you. You have those recorded. I have him written down in recording. Why you write them down just because I like to have him? You wrote all of mine down. Yeah, there's a

lot, it's too much. Good luck to all players. Well, our friends at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will take us from these hot rider cut predictions. In two press play j J. She got a big one for us, a huge movie. I've been looking forward to this movie for a month. I get nervous when she does the review because I want I want it to be good. Yeah, but I know, James be honest with us.

She's the best the screen queen. As you're about to hear, Oh yeah, it's time once again for rest playing with j J. The Lady Group with the sin in cinema. So, without further ado, we got movie reviews with the original screen queen herself, the twentieth century Bucks Miss j J. Jackson. She put the sin in cinema. Hid J. Guys

at It's JJ on air on any and all social media platforms. Please follow her in a rugcause she's awesome and a great person, the coolest, but number one A because she is one of the better movie reviewers in our area and she's always on top of things. J J. What have you seen? Idiot? So this actually is probably gonna be the biggest weekend of September. You got saw Paw Patrol, Saw Patrol Weekend? Saw Patrol? Yeah, finally Kevin sawl double feature. There. I went to bed last night

eyes fluttering. Can't even keep him open reading two different full reviews of Saw X. Yeah, I don't know. I have a saw spot for old Jigsaw and Tobin Bell, the guy who plays him eighty one years old now, but apparently he does a very fine job. You have not seen Saw X, right, I haven't seen it. I had an opportunity to see Paul Patrol last Saturday, but girl ahead of day in Houston. Yeah, see you guys. Yeah, I didn't get a chest to see it,

but I did see the movie The Creator. Okay, some big buzz behind it, a sci fi film starring John David Washington, and may I say, this is probably one of my favorite movies of the year. Yes, it's really really good. Okay, how do we know John David Washington. So I saw the preview and I'm like, I know this dude's from a ton of stuff right out of Denzel Washington for one. Yeah, he She's I'm blinking right now. He did do Ballers, That's kind of where he

started. He did the movie with with Oh my God, I can blank it. Yeah, Black Clansman, Yeah, yeah, Tenant that came out in twenty twenty. Yeah, that kind of, let's say, went on the radar a little bit. It's during COVID. That was the first big film that decided to release after everything started to open back up. So I don't think great money wise and theaters. But yeah, The Creator. I can see this in like ten or twenty years from now. This is going

to be considered a sci fi classic. It's so good, so many emotions, and I kind of went into this not really having too much thought about it. I mean, I kind of you know, you know, it's it's Ai. It's it's about it's about a war between humans and AI. Very kind of type of futuristic technology wise. I was very shocked to see that this budget was eighty million dollars because of how great everything like, I mean, because usually a sci fi film like this on this level, it's

gonna be over a hundred plus. Yeah, they topped out at eighty million, will even exceed two hundred sometimes, right, Yeah, yeah, for sure, dependent definitely depending on the director who and how they feel on giving on giving you the money to do it. But it was such a great job. It's a lot of hard a lot of emotion, to a lot of humane moments, you know, humans versus versus AI. Obviously AIS there. They were intend to be as human as possible, but they you know,

they don't have feelings. And this is that there's a there's a war because there's an incident that happens that causes humans to try to take out all of AI, anybody that has anything to do with or trying to keep or you know, to keep AI alive and around. And so there's this big war that breaks and whoever and created the AI technology of these AI robots, created one that can sustainly like in all human society if need be. And

so they on a task. John David Washington's character Joshua was on the task to destroy this AI and it happens to be a child. Okay, this is all the trailer. This is in the trailer, so I'm not giving that much away there, but you can already tell that he's gonna like, I mean, I fall in love with but start to love this kid and realize I'm not. I don't want to kill this kid. He has this this tension of they're just robots. They don't feel anything, but you know,

obviously that's what they're created to do. But even though they're they're taking from our liking this a little bit. You know, they create them based off of us, based off of our emotions are you know, our way. They're all about life and they're always learning, always growing in and this one particular is one of a kind. She is the new like species basically of AI. And she you know, she she's got these powers that so that's what she was created for. And they just go on this journey and

you can just see it evolve, and they were. They did such a great job with building like the characters for I mean, for filling all of them, even Alison Jenny, Who's who's in there? Whose places kind of the villain in a way, yeah she I mean this it's just so overall a great film. It's it's it's going to be I'm telling you, a sci fi classic. Is one of I think it's one of the best of the year. I left that theater and all I was I cried at the end. It was it was so much, it was so much, and

that I was not expecting. And John David Washington and that little girl, her name is Madeleine, Madeleine you vos what she brought so much England or something. I don't know who this little girl is. I don't know how old she is, but she has got a future. She she can act. She acted her a little butt off and she's she's not yet. She's so good. She was so good. So this has ai people with these the giant hole in their heads. Yeah, does anyone at any point stick

their arm all the way through the hole. Well, there's there's a scene where there's like because they're trying to just figure out obviously, so they're they're they're like sticking like a little poking their little ear hole whatever, or that the ears are technically are for humans and they're trying to figure out like nobody's technology trying to heat up a hot pocket by putting it in the head hole. No, not this one. Maybe maybe the sequel, but no arm

all the way through that. Do you feel like this, Okay, I don't want to know anything spoilers and you're great about, you know, refraining from giving those out. Do you feel like that this movie ended in a way that we're probably going to start a franchise and this is going to be you know, episode two, episode three? Does it have that? Or is this one and done? What are you thinking? I can see it possibly happened just because how hollywood is. I hope they don't because say something.

I think it's special. And sometimes when you try to hollywood it up too much, you lose sight of what the reasoning behind this movie was. Is there Is it true that there's a Star Wars connection to this, not not as far as the story, but the creators Rogue one director Gareth Edwards, Okay, I believe he directed Rogue one, which is probably the best. Okay, that's the best Rogue one and the fast part of this, it's got to be pretty good. Yeah, and a lot of them.

I've seen a lot of the critics because I haven't seen I didn't seen Rogue one because I'm not on the Star Wars train. So a lot of people are saying it's a mix of like Star like Rogue one, of District nine, oh hell yeah, yeah, of Ex Machina, which okay, you know, yeah, yeah, a little adventure true. I mean, it's it has everything. And I just I just loved John David Washing. I love him so so much, and I think he's a such a great actor, and he brings a lot to his his character and he brought a lot

to this character to Joshua. And there's, like I said, it's just so many just humane moments where you're just like, you know, they're trying to be human. The robots are trying to be as humanly as possible, and so obviously humans don't see it that way. So you're you're, you know, they're kind of going on this journey of that. And so the kid is if the kid is in charge of destroying humanity, the kid would also know to be real cute and lovable and like, I have feelings,

I feel everything a real person. Can I just have one hug before you cut my head off? Yeah? Yeah, it's it's real cool. Yeah.

I love seeing like futuristic type films, you know, seeing how technology kind of is, how how they see things obviously like they were, it's so far in advance to you know, obviously you're trying to say, play god, I guess in a way creating humans and the way that they'd go about things, And it's really cool to see how much like technology, what they see how technology is going to go, and you know they're like the

next fifteen years. A lot of times they're right, you know, you go back and watch some of that fifty sixty sci fi stuff, the technology that they were predicting. Do you have. We hold them in our hands every day, you know, Ye, we do it every day, and they're usually pretty spot on when it comes to that. They can see the evolution past our limitations. Now. Yeah, amazing. I love it. I can't. I saw the trailer a month ago and I'm like, oh

my god, this looks like something I will love. And I love this review. I saw one of the critics say he saw he got to see an Adobe. I didn't get to see in a w th but I kind of want to because of the sounds and that, you know, the different elements that they did, so I kind of want to go see like this in imax or something. But absolutely four and a half. I really, I really liked this movie. I really really did. What do people eat in the future? Did you learn that? No, just cover that they're

just eating food. Green doesn't seem like they want to like take out, It was just like regular. It's like dehydrated stuff. Though the add a little water and that turns into thing. You know, really least a much detailing into that. But yeah, no food, it's just scarious. Uh. JJ takes four and a half four and that's the first one and first throws him right through the AI headhole. And there is no five because the

perfect movie has never been made and won't ever be made. You know what we might need some time in a real downtime press play JJ's five dumpling list. There's not any yeah movies that you would give five stars. I think the closest for me, like recently is definitely Everything everywhere, all at once. There can't be one that's perfect. Okay, that's going to be the No, there are no tens, there aren't no fives, And you're a little Kevin Land. I mean, we can do whatever we want and guess

what we want to do opposite of what you want to do. Well, if you make it perfect, if you make it perfect, then there's no point and you should never make another movie. All right, hot mop. Coming up in just a second is your talkbacks. But I have something for the top of that is that. Okay, Sure, I have a caller calling in, okay, and I'll just tease the hell out of him. We were talking earlier about your your murder and prison. Yeah, about getting

shanked. We have a guy who used to be a correctional officer that said he got shanked twice and he's gonna call in and tell us how that felt a shanky. And that's next, and that's gonna be right here on this Vario very radio station, Cavio. Yeah, one the freak
