I take that back. Nick is probably up right now because he never went to sleep, That's true. He was. He was reconfiguring his pedal board all night. Yeah, that and probably building a new Fetzer valve in the in the back there. He's always building something.

He's good too. Man. Well, we're not here to talk about Nick. We're here to talk about you before we get to your picks. Dude. I didn't even know this was a thing until my oldest son sent me a little Instagram message and said might be worth checking out. And it was a clip of you doing a podcast with freaking Rick Rubin and I Kevin and I. I think I started it yesterday and I got up to I think I'm a little over an hour into it now. Yeah, I got about

thirty minutes left. So there were two things I didn't even know Rick Rubin had a podcast number two. I didn't know that you were on a podcast with Rick Rubin, and Man, I cannot believe how authentic and transparent and beautiful that conversation is. Wow, it was kind of a trip. Man. First of all, I mean, I knew he was a fan.

He would come to our shows when we played in Los Angeles, and he and I kind of corresponded through the years back and forth, but I really didn't realize how much of it a true fan of the band he wise. So it kind of caught me off guard there a little bit. And then especially when you know he got emotional about it, that was like, I mean, I'm just sitting with him, you know, Indian style, doing this podcast, and it was kind of amazing. But yeah, it was

a pretty uh genuine moment. It was that with him. I don't know if you've made it that far into the pod yet, Kevin, but there is and I hope I'm not spilling the beans too much, but you did bring it up, so I want to expound on it just a bit.

But there is a moment in this podcast where you are telling a story about a show that you guys were playing, and the electricity went out in between songs and you're you kind of look around the stage and you know, have a brief moment of panic and then realize, you know what, seventy percent of my band is playing acoustic instruments. We've got horns, we've got woodwinds, we've got strings, and you're in kind of a theater. Let's just

perform. And they end up performing about half of this tune, okay, And at the apex of the the big crescendo of the tune, the electricity at that moment magically comes back on and the chorus hits, and the lights come on and the amps come on, and it's just this very powerful moment. And he's telling this story to Rick Rubin, all right, and then Rick Rubin goes, well, do you mind if we hear this song? And I guess you know, Tim's got his phone and they plugged the phone

in. He plays the entire song for him. Diamonds is the song. Diamonds is the song. Yeah, And I guess it put Rick kind of he imagined himself being in the theater when that moment happened, and they come back, he is openly weeping like it affected him so emotionally and I think Tim even got choked up a little bit. Probably watching Rick be so affected by something that you were such a big part in creating. That had to be a really cool moment. Man. It was. It was awesome.

I mean, like I said, I mean I knew as a fan, but I didn't realize how much of a fan he was. And you know that I didn't have the the song on my phone. That's off of his phone. Wow, he just plucked there was a dongle there and he goes, well, I've got it, and I go, yeah, okay, you can play it, and so he played it. But yeah, it was a trip man. You know. That was in Malibu at his Shangri Last studios. And yeah, he's been doing podcasts for quite some time now,

and this is a new one that he started. Tetrigrammaton is the one that he's he just started and but he had one for the longest where it was kind of filmed. It was filmed and some of it wasn't. But he's been doing podcasts for a while. No, it's it's great now everyone's checking out when you get a chance. Also, look at the new album Salvage Enterprise came out into last month. It's great and beautiful and it's what you expect from you, honestly at this point. But there's it's there's some

surprises in there too. Yeah, and the story of the record is kind of intense and really good. But we've also got the holiday show, the annual Holiday Extravaganza, year twenty of it, and y'all are doing two Tomorrow night, yeah, and then one on Saturday night. That's true. And you know, I had mentioned to Rick that we do this holiday show every year. This is our twentieth year. And you know, after I got back to Dallas, his people reached out. They're actually filming the Christmas show

and he's putting it out on his YouTube channel. Wait, they're filming your Christmas show and he's he's hosting, Dude, that is awesome. He's they've got a camera crew filming it and they're going to put it on his YouTube channel. Holy crap, that's amazing. It's a trip. He's like, all in. It's great, man. But yeah, so two nights this year, for the first time in twenty year years, we're doing two nights and Friday night and Saturday night. And there's tickets still available for Friday night

And you know, if you're you're you want to get into Christmas spirit, there's nothing better than the holiday extravaganza. Twenty years of this thing, I think we've got it down. What what what do what do we expect if we end up at one of these two shows or both tim I mean, are you doing a lot of uh, standard spree stuff or you mix

it in some holiday tunes? And I don't want to you don't. I don't want you to spoil spoil the surprises. But kind of what what do you expect when you when you go to one of these, Well, it's pretty off the wall. It's it's like it's a kind of reminiscent of old seventies variety shows was the main concept from the beginning. So you kind of have a little bit of everything, Like we have the the the zoo come out and bring these animals that kind of he'll do it action with the audience.

And then we've got the tap dancing tap dazzler Grandma's that are all out there doing their thing, which has always been kind of charming. We've got a magician, we've got all the Charles Dickens characters roaming the audience. You'll leave home that night, you'll wake up in a couple of days and you'll still be finding confetti from the snow that's being dropped there. It's we dropped something like five hundred and seven hundred pounds of confetti each night, so it's

it's kind of a crazy thing. But the Spree does a full blown Christmas set about ten twelve songs, and then at the end of the evening we do a full blown rock show where it's nothing but the Spree full burn incredible and it's kid Bridley too. Right. Oh yeah, that's that was the

main thing. It's like, I wanted to show how it started. It was I wanted to show that could you know, my kids could come to and then their friends family, you know, their friends, their parents, they could come to the show, bring their kids and the parents can enjoy it and the kids can enjoy it. So it's kind of for both both parties there. And I can't believe it's been twenty years, man, but

it has. It started off in Lakewood Theater and we've we've resided at the Majestic Theater for quite some time now, so the city's behind it and it's it's pretty great. It's awesome. It's my favorite night of the year, Friday and Saturday night. I'm bringing my five year old niece for the first time. Oh yeah, she'll he's a perfect day. She'll kind of blow her mind. Yeah, she's she's gonna love it. Saturday, That's when

I'll be there. But we have a couple of pairs of tickets thanks to Tim and Chris Penn of course, with the with the Polyphonic Spree giving us two pair of tickets to give away today to Friday Night show.
