but right now, let's go ahead and discuss the oscars. Last night the Academy Awards. I know JJ did a live stream with Christina Ray from work five to six last night on the Instagram live page, follow all of our social media channels. At ninety seven to one, the freak JJ was getting turned up before heading off to the Alamo Draft House watch party. Yeah, sitting right in Danny's chair, right there, Danny, what were you drinking?
I was just drinking some moscato. Yeah, that's pretty good. Good drink like half the bottle this chair, this chair, and drink more. This chair did smell good for a change when I came in today. That makes sense. That's j JAF just for you. How was the scene at Alamo? There was a lot of people there. Yeah, No, it wasn't. I didn't know. There was a couple of people dressed up though, I saw a guy in a suit, chicken an address heels. Yeah,
people were You weren't dressed up? No? Whyest night? I had to do all the prep and stuff for Was there a pair of people dressed up as a banana and a gorilla and the banana was chasing the gorilla throughout the halls of Alma Draft House. No, but that would have been great, damn it. It would have been so that would have been very memorable. But yeah, it was. It was a good time, you know, it was. The theater was pretty much like three fourths Field, Okay.
Yeah, there was a lot of people there and they were doing bits in between, you know, commercials given giving away. I think they'd get away like Alamo passes and you're doing bingo throughout the night. So yeah, well that's a good turnout for something that is so easily available at home. And it's a Sunday night, it's gonna go late. Not bad, not bad. We were talking about Ryan Gosling's you know, came back with I'm Just kN and Ryan Gosling's huge performance of the night of that song was kind
of like the uh, the pinnacle of a lot of people's evening. And Kevin you said that he his date was his mom, right and we're always was sister, okay, and we were wondering where was his partner, Ava Mendez. I don't know if you guys saw this, but she posted on Instagram at some point during last night's Oscar's festivities. There was a photograph of herself wearing a pink blazer and a black cowboy hat and she was at home and the Instagram post said you took Ken all the way to the Oscars RG
now come home. We need to put the kids to bed. So she was at home with their children. Well, he was out. I couldn't get a sitter in a fool. I think she didn't want to watch all these girls fawn over her man it was on TV. They probably would have fawned over him less if she were there. She didn't seem like the type that wants to be out and in the mix a lot. I don't know, Maybe I'm wrong. If she wanted to be there, she would have been there. And it's not like her kids were babies. They've got two
kids, two daughters, nine and seven. She fifty forty three? Okay, what are you doing some math there? No, no, no, you know it would have taken way longer. I was doing math is seven. Fifty minus forty three is seven. I was just thinking, if you're Ryan Gosling, who we said, you know, I said, at least
is approaching record high Q ratings. I just wonder literally what life is like on a night like that, with girls throwing themselves at you, when your girlfriends saw there, and all day every day like I just wonder about either call it either the temptation or how how that is? So I mean somebody at that that's the highest level you might be. I mean, I don't know. He's in the conversation most desirable dudes to the girls and other dudes
in the world. And then you do something like that and you're like, oh my god, like the charts just the thermometer just exploded at the top. You couldn't we couldn't love yet anymore. Emma Stone's dress exploded. Yes, yeah, he was so hot that our dress exploded. And he doesn't make it better with how just sweet? Yeah, just smiles at everyone. He doesn't make it any better for her. And he's funny and that's like the trick. And she's always at home. Yeah, like why she's always
at home? And he's obligated to go to some of these parties and stuff. Now, yeah, his date was his mom and his sister. He brought two dates, so assuming they're there the whole time. And trust me, I don't think Ryan Goslin's out there looking to add any career totals my question dragon, we all think about it. Yeah, And Okait, here's what my answer to this would normally be. It's Hollywood. Anything goes that and it doesn't matter and everyone's just okay with it? Is that? Yeah?
And in some relationships is that just understood? I think it is and some I don't about this one, but yeah, I'm certain amount. I have a pretty actually high amount of respect for the dude that could lead the league in scoring every year, but you know, passes the ball more often, more often than not. There there's there's a lot of dignity in that of I know what I'm going home right, maybe not done at all and nothing more to achieve. But every hallway he walks down, there's a girl's
just comic cozing straight to his crotch. But none of them are Ava Mendez, Mike the woman he loves, just Japanese zeros. Yes, soaring it is growing, he turning his back and covering with his hands like please, it's just fascinating. I think cheating would never cross his mind because he's with a I believe a Mexican woman and Hispanics, because you know it all time, the risk of castration has gone up a notch. Well, he's probably well put together dude, and didn't know I agree ever think about it.
It's weird though, like that's his like he's he was nominated and she wasn't there, Like yeah, I start a question like, well, maybe that's something they worked out, like, hey, honey, you know, you know, I love you to support you. I'll stay, you know, with the kids. And she's in the business, she knows. But he probably the same for her if she was, you know, crushing it right now. It's a big night for him. Though. He performed, and
that's dude's interesting. I didn't think about that was the best Actor reporting acts. Okay, I mean he's nominated before the actor and your wife or wasn't there? I don't know. Actually they're not married. No, okay, Yeah, it's just interesting, but they've been together for a long time.
Ye, common law but not just weird. Yeah, everybody else's significant other was there and he's nominated and yeah, singing, Well, I think that will be the moment that I don't know anyone remembers from these proceedings, and I'm fine with that. It was awesome, But there were some other other good moments as well. You got some cuts, I got tons of audio. Should we start and reverse though? Should we start with the apex of the night? I mean, we have ten movies that were up for Academy
Award Best Picture. Yeah, and it's always nice to be reminded at the end. You know, let's go down the list, because I like making mental notes of things that I have not seen and need to see. And that's one of the best things about the Oscars. It's a great promotional tool for Hollywood to remind people, Hey, these are out there, stream them,
go see them if they're stealing in theaters. It helps the industry a lot, and you'll see ticket sales and downloads and streams of these films just skyrocket as a result of this, Like documentary stuff that you don't think about that you'll see streaming and you'll definitely click and watch them. Oh well that was nominated, it's got to be good. Yeah, No, I want
to know. We'll list them out for those who don't know. The Holdovers, Past Lives, Anatomy of a Fall, American Fiction, Oben Eimer, Killers, The Firemon, The Zone of Interest, Poor Things, Barbie and Maestro. I'll say, after last night, I am dying to see Poor Things. Same. Absolutely, it's great. I watched it Saturday morning. You did, Yes, Okay, I I want to see that hard.
I want you all to see this because we need to talk about. I want to see American fiction hard too, And I kind of wanted to anyway because Jef, you're right, But now I want to see that one hard. I want to see Zone of Interest. Man. That looks really really it looks it looks affecting. But yeah, how I you know, living next to Auschwitz, Yeah, is enough of a I kind of want to see Maestro too, Okay, more than I did prior. My show is actually I think like very good. I'm kind of sad that it didn't get
the love that I thought. He did a really good job and my show and he directed and wrote it, God was very I heard that Carry mulligan if if she had one Best Actress last night, that it would not have been an upset. She was that good. They were all very much like very much deserve you of that award, and she was there with right. Yeah, Kerry Wilton get docked because she was married to the Mufferin Sons guy. He's been three times. She lost the votes on that. Okay,
here's al Pacino, the big moment. Yeah, why do you read the nominees because he's gonna clearly, yeah, he's gonna say them all. They're gonna have a quick graphic. They're gonna be sure a clip from which one's gonna be great. Everybody, remind everybody why we're here. Ten nominations, my friend, thank you. I don't know. Did I do some Shakespeare? Now? I think that is in order right to be No, I'm not gonna do it. No, no, no, no, sorry,
world. This is the time for the last award of the evening and it's uh, my honor presented. Ten wonderful films we nominated, but only one will take the award for Best Picture. And I have to go to the envelope for that and I will here it comes and Maria se Oppenheimer, Yes, yes, Thomas, I guess play the music. That was like Jerry reading out the winner, and uh, we'll open and we will do you think right before they're like, look, it's all on the prompter, right,
it's directly in front of you. Yeah, he was, Okay, it's not they do. They have to do some kind of rehearsal. They rehearsed the day before you get with the guys like him. There was photos released of people rehearsing presenting. Okay, you can tell like he definitely probably didn't go to rehearsal, but they rehearse as well before they go on state like they like there's like there's the script and they read it. You know, make sure you're good to go before you go on stage. This man
doesn't walked on stage. There's no way he had any idea what he was going to say. He was supposed to throw it to something that Usually they'll go, okay, well here the I mean maybe if they didn't decide to do it this year differently, but usually they go, well, these are you've seen clips of the Best Picture nominees throughout the night. Here's a reminder of the top ten. J if you recall any time there was when they
went over the list of nominations. Al Pacino at some point voiced over the names of the films because the presenters when it went to the package of whatever it was best Documentary and it was you know, weird al they would have a pre recorded voice over it. He would say the names of the documentaries and then they'd show a brief clip that's al Pacino ve oed ten Best Picture
nominations and completely for god. Somebody tweeted one of our listeners that said, if the dude probably doesn't know how to send a photo via text from his phone. Maybe we don't let him handle this responsibility. Yeah, especially with the past the best pictures. Yeah, come on, can't wade a joke about it. Yeah, after come on, you stop getting people under over
sixty doing it. There's a pause in there where he said whatever, the only one can win, and then he pauses, and then you know he doesn't know what he's like the ads in this ovelo, It's like, right here he got the Oppenheimer and first name of the producers. And maybe that was the production or error of the oscars to not immediately go to no the clips. I mean, were they waiting for him to throw it and here they are, I mean, but they're they're terrified that he'll kill them.
All authentic, well nominated, but only one will take the award for Best Picture Who and I because he didn't look up? I think I don't think they did. I don't think they planned on doing that this year. I think they were just going on because they didn't do it for any of the actors categories, like they they spoke of each person and then they announced they didn't They didn't do Okay, well here's you. I think that's how it was supposed to be. But he it was supposed to be more smoother than
that. Like he just was. I think he was just going off of ad libbing off the top of his head. There's no way he was reading the prompters. They've got to reset this. Yeah. Maybe maybe they are so inclusive and hoity toity that they don't think. But general people sitting at home watching this haven't heard of probably a lot of these movies show them all.
Okay, real quick, here they are. It's a simple like it's one O one, and it's like like this is the you're right, this is the best picture and I have to go to the envelope for that and I will. Here it comes and Maria Oppenheimer, yeah, yes, yes, yes, okay, I'm saying so incredible. Okay, so I got a little information if you guys are interested. All right, this is from eonline, uh says. Traditionally, the presenter would list the nominees in the
category before announcing the winner. However, Paccino did not when he took the stage, instead telling the audience what you just heard. He also opted to forgo building up fanfare. Upon opening the envelope, he simply said, my, I see Oppenheimer. A source with knowledge tells Eonline his presenting style was decided ahead of time as a creative direction. Oh okay, but yeah needless. Fans had varying opinions of how the Knight's Biggest Prize was handled after sitting
through a three and a half hour ceremony. It just seemed anti anti climatic after three and a half hours. But uh, they're saying that this was pre they're taking up. Look, old guy went out there fumbled. It's all right, we live in a world. Okay, we have two really old guys running for president. It's what it is. But man, do you gotta do, dude for the people in America watching, well you grandparents, show a five second thing of the movie. Didn't have to be a
clip. Just I suppose there's a chance they weren't going to show a recap. They were they weren't going to listen ominiques. Fine, whatever, he's still the delivery was terrible. It was awful. And the smattering of applause when he first said Oppenheimer and then the music is what triggered everyone be like, all right, the dungeon in everyone's face. So it's great, So well it more. Let's get back to it at nine, or do you want to carry it over and move Dingo's Morning News to nine? How do
you want to play second? Let's get back into it nine. Let's get back in tack on minutes or one minute? Still? Yeah, okay, I want one thing on Christopher Nolan because they said this earlier in the broadcast, and I do, accidentally just love everything Christopher Nolan. You know, I love the prestige if you're gonna make a badass movie about magic. But I love all of them. I even love Tenet. I love all of
it. But they said earlier in the broadcast that he writes on a laptop with no Internet connection, he has no email address, Like, I just find it sort of fascinating. Then when you apply it to a dude who's doing some of the most like crazy ambitious movies of all time, it's sort of the maybe the power of the uncluttered mind, you know, like fascinating. There's no doubt that he doesn't allow himself to be I don't know, distracted or whatever, And yeah, you might come up with some of the
wildest stuff that just you believe in and you think it's funny. And then if you have that wind at your sales and that power behind you and the finance and the proof that your stuff works, it frees you to continue to do that sort of thing and do really creative things. I also thought it
was a very interesting point that he said in his speech. He's like, imagine being one hundred years into the history of painting or sculpture, and that's where we are with film and movies, you know, and like where it's going to head. Yeah, you know, it's still a very new thing that we feel like is kind of old. But imagine he had one hundred years in the history of painting, you know, and it's just the one snap you just started. So like what they could all become is still sort
of interesting to me. And for him to say that, I thought it was kind of cool. There's something to be said for avoiding add at all costs, and also though the privilege of when you get to a power of that he's at that you can work without having an email address, not having a publicist, then everything runs through then. But that's earned too, It's absolutely earned. Yeah, Yeah, he's privileged probably the wrong word, because
you get to that point by the stuff you've done. But it's like he always was doing, working without an email ad just otherwise no one would know who the hell he was. Right, But isn't Memento like the first thing he did, which is insane? I just watched it a week or two ago because I wanted Christina to see it, and it's nuts, And how the the hell that got green lit? When if he didn't have a long history of success, which again I don't know what he did prior to Memento.
I think that was his first Oscar nomination? Was the screenplay? Yeah for Memento? Yeah, we had tons of other audio, including the big shocking surprise from last Night at nine, plus some math stuff for announceuf Fordinga's morning news The Golden State boobs Escort just won't go away, Mikey
