The downbeat on ninety seven The Freaking Sports at seven tell you a little bit about a wild story of a local dude back in the mix, plus some other things in the scuttle butt too at seven point thirty did a tailor ship's dad beat a guy up weird story last night in Australia and more, plus a wild play at a local high school. There has just been taking off the docket. It's causing some chaos, a lot of stuff going on there. Dame, stop it eight, big dad, So right now, let's
do this whack up talking a draft flight out of that Mauritius. Mauritius. Mauritius is a place. It's an island. None of us could pronounce moments ago. Why'd that come up? Is that where cruiz is? Yeah, that's where Dudy Cruise is. Because officials of the island nation of Mauritius have blocked a Norwegian Cruise Line ship from docking there on Sunday. The reason more
than a dozen passengers were stricken with a stomach illness. Yes, this ship holds over three thousand people, one thousand crew members and two thousand passengers, and around fifteen of these passengers aboard the Norwegian Dawn that's the name of the boat, remain in isolation because of an undisclosed health risk. They're undergoing testing now, the authority said in a statement. The Mauritius Ports Authority said the decision not to allow the cruise ship access to the quay was taken in order
to avoid any health risks. The sick guests experience mild symptoms of a stomach related illness. The cause of the outbreak has not been released, and they're saying that due to the additional testing being required by local authorities before being allowed entry, the government of Mauritius has delayed disembarkation for the current cruise and embarkation
for the next cruise by two days. They're saying that it's expected that the ship will be allowed to dock today after results of the tests conducted Sunday become available. So you've got fifteen people that are holding back the day, this embarkment of a cruise ship that holds over over three thousand folks. Fifteen people Mm hmm that ate some bad shrimp and now have nasty bottom. Shocking how often this happens? Yeah, or maybe it's just another thing that makes news
every time it does happen. And that's what else the humans do in the thousands, where you're completely isolated with only each other for a week at a time. I mean, is it the only Petrie dish where this can happen? I mean, you have an air flight, you know, but that's yeah, eighteen hours max or whatever. There's prison, there's prison, there's prison hospital kind of yeah, and I guess in prison it probably happens, and there's sometimes news of that, right, But is that newsworthy that no
prisoners have diarrhea hospital? Maybe right? Maybe not something contagious like this usually and it can obviously be instantly treated at a hospital. But that's the whole thing about it. That were to happen to you on the open seas, there's nowhere to go. That's the danger of the cruise. I don't. I've never been interested in the cruise anyways. I know people love it, look forward to it. I love cruise. You've been on a few cruises. I've been on a few cruises, and I think they're awesome, and
it's really possible or popular toes on cruises. I've never been on one, so I can't. I mean, I bet it's an awesome time. I just don't I don't know if it's claustrophobia or whatever it is. I do not want to be trapped. I'm not looking forward to the flight to Italy in two months. That is going will be the longest flight you've ever taken. Yes, by far, I mean, which is what is it like? Seven hours? It's eight? Okay? What's your current flight? Will
be? Twenty minute air tractor run over the fields of of only west only probably four probably whoever it was to Seattle, I would guess, or to New York about four and a half four forty five to Seattle. Do you take a little forget me now when you go on along, I'm gonna have to plan plane flight. I'm gonna have to. I'm looking. I'm looking into like, is there something I can take to just knock me out? Yeah? Yeah, because that's what you need, a cool doctor that you
can text and hell one time. Yeah, a little, a little forget me now. That's what Joe Bluth called his roofies that he would use on women and tobias and tobias yet So the problem with these illnesses on cruise ships, Uh, is there close living quarters make it easier for viruses to spread.
The regular edition of new passengers creates opportunities to introduce it, and because public health officials track illnesses illness, I'm sorry, illness cases on cruise ships, such outbreaks may also be reported more often than the ones on land. So last month there was an outbreak of neurovirus, which is a common stomach bug that causes vomiting and diarrhea. It sickened ninety two passengers and eight crew members on a celebrity cruises ship. It seems like it, you know,
it's something that happens on him. God. We remember what was the one ship of a number of years back that had the plumbing issues called the Doo Dooo Cruise. Yeah, that was the Texas and they were stuck out in the ocean forever with just suet raw sewage, just running a muck on a deck in the quarters. Yeah. I think that was supposed to dock in corpus, right. I think they were just hanging out on the golf feels right? Or was that was there a different one that lost all its power?
I thought the Gold Out Cruises, the Corona Cruise there, there's definitely Corona cruise what a mess. Yeah, that's the problem is they sound all fun, but it's one of those things that if if things run amok or go or go wrong, there really is no escape and you are one of the control of whatever authorities say that you're going to do. Yeah, but just like anything else. Right now, there are hundreds and hundreds of cruise
ships out on very lovely journeys all over the globe. But you like hot air balloons just making safe flights and gentle landings, power lines on a plenty, a pleasant unwindy day. I do hear that argument. But back when we had icebergs, icebergs or the power lines of the sea, that's true. I have icebergs anymore. And by the way, Titanic is a damn good movie. Would you just watch it recently? No, no, it is. I'm just saying there's a lot of people that will on Titanic.
That's a good damn film. It's too long, but it's great. No, it's it's what it needed to be. To tell the story down a little bit. We got the idea of the love story. We didn't need every love story, and movies could be cut down quite a bit. I agree, you're right, but that movie had everything to get the to reach the largest audience possible. Well, we needed to see maybe this show, Maybe this show needs a love story. Yeah, would you like to make
love? Put your mic on if you're gonna laugh like that, look at her. Look, I'm just trying to get ratings. Bro. We need a laugh for JJ. We need you. Never turn off your microphone, sweetie, wrong with you. Look, it's for the good. It's for the good of the station, the health of the station, and the betterment of our morning show. We have a love story me and Christina. Yeah, but you guys don't real love story on this station. We give you
everything, you give us nothing. And she's not in here. From six Ton, I am and I'm willing. I don't understand what you're asking. Wro down, big fella, and is Danny puts a banana up to his mouth. Yeah, lect you, mayor of my brown town. Jesus. He does seem comfortable with that banana. He always does every day. That's a banana. He's got it, just kind of patting it up against his cheek and we're like, open the peel it already. Well, fiddling around
with that thing what's something on your cheek? I wish there were more to this story. And for all I know, it's been updated and these people have been released. I think it made. It has made. That's doc. Okay, get docked? Yeah, I got want some article that I click on. I won't let me have it, but it says Norwegian cruise ship docks after they clear it of cholera. Oh wow, yeah, colera scare you know. I'll give you a couple of cruise tips if you ever
go Tony up a little extra for the balcony. Roo color is not good. Go ahead, I'm sorry, I'm gonna look up collar and see. Don't get the interior room the cheapest one, because there, I would imagine, is some claustrophobian play there. But if you pay a little, a decent amount extra, but not like a crazy amount more, you get the balcony. I mean, granted, it's a two foot balcony. It's a
sliding glass door that you can just kind of lean out like. It's not a luxurious balcony, but if you open that door up the cruise I've been on, we've every night door sliding glass door open. Just bree Caribbean breeze or whatever. It is just lovely. And the food on a cruise is good if you go to little restaurants is if you just go to that buffet every day, that's not gonna you're not gonna love it. But there's a lot of stuff, a lot of options. But you can make reservations included
in your price. For like, we had a French restaurant that was amazing, absolutely loved it, went there at least twice. And then you kind of just get tanked and wait for the casino to open. Yeah, I like that, and then there's a poker table. We made friends with all them. Dude. By the end of the night. There's a video somewhere of cash not stealing, but jokingly stealing a guy's little handicapped cruiser and just flying out of the casino and driving around the deck of the boat and everyone's
laughing. We're having fun. There's got to be a brig in the ships, right, like if somebody gets in, ruly, they've got to have some type of temporary jail system setup, right, Yeah, they have a brig. They have a makeshift hospital. I wonder what the brig's like because they I mean, people going on cruises quite a bit because it tends to be oldies. Yeah, but we did the Alaska one. It was effing
gorgeous. You saund this outside bar like on the side of the ship, and you get the unlimited drink thing and you're just pounding delicious drinks and there's glaciers what's left of them, and it's gorgeous, Like, you know, you're looking at Alaska. Amazing. I loved that was yours was the Pacific. Yeah, if I don't want to do Alasking cruise, so we're like, yes, and we left out of Seattle. I think it was five, five or seven night. It was a whole week we were there.
I absolutely loved it. But I tend to like things, and I want to like things. I'm not someone that just pisses and moans and bitches about whatever. And if you are that type of person, I imagine there's gonna be a million things that you hate. Like the pool's not good, it's packed, it's gross kind of I don't think we even went in the pool. I didn't go on the pool. I went in the hot tub once or twice. We had an f and go kart track on our on the
ship. On the ship that's on the back of the ship. It was the Norwegian Bliss, I believe. Do you go racing? Oh yeah, racing. Is there any chance of one of those things hitting the Median and flying into the sea. No funny, Oh crap, Oh just keep going. They're just mad they lost the cart. So we got another another cruise
in a week. It's amazing how they turn and burn these things, how quickly they clean them, Like on the day you d board boy, they are ready to rock, to clean the thing, to turn it over, and eight hours later they're leaving on another one. And at the Norwegian Bliss, I think when I went on, I think it was the biggest cruise
ship in the world. It was brand new, and I read a story then that there were constructions underway for a cruise ship twice as big as the one I was on, And one I was on was so effing big. I mean there's theaters, comedy clubs, but yes, because that they figured out you can't go big enough, because if they can pack it, it's just more profit. Yeah, Like we're on the verge of these super cruise ships. Like do you see the commercials with Shaq and whoever? I mean,
it's like a floating city and they're gonna go twice as big. I talked to So the drummer that played on the first Silver Skylarks record just a young lady named Amber and she's freaking awesome and she does a lot of stuff.
She plays with a lot of people, produces music, whatever. But she was telling me, she was in town this weekend and we were talking and she was telling me about the cruise circuit as far as musicians, because they have bands, like it's very common now that you'll have a cruise ship that is themed for a certain type of music, whether it be nineties, yeah, the Relive Your nineties, and then you have the heavy metal cruises
from the eighties where cruise remember that, Yeah, the preed Cruise. But she's done one where it's you know, she can play anything, so it's like she can fit into any band and it'll sound great. But hers was kind of like more like it sounded like it was like kind of seventies eighties like one Hit Wonder type stuff. But she said, the money that the musicians make for doing those, it's like you you can't turn it down,
right, Yeah, they pay really well. Interesting, Yeah, I know our friends the old ninety seven's have done at least one or two of those, like a specific cruise for that. Yeah, like There's was like the Americana cruise. You might run into them and Jason isbel or somebody like that. I wonder what the house band for a normal cruises and I bet the
payment is not. Wait, you can kind of different than when Emerald City plays or something, right, I mean like at a wedding, because if you can be a cover band on There's I mean you can be rocking a cover band on one part of the cruise obviously, and not hear it on eighty nine percent of the cruise. Like it's that big. You can have four bands playing on a Friday night on a cruise with no bleed over.
I mean it's they're that big. So yeah, if you're a house band on a cruise or just a cover band, I wonder what that life is like too, because the crew quarters are smaller than even the passenger quarters, and those are pretty damn small. She made enough money doing these cruises that she was able to save up enough cash not only to move to la but subsidize her existence out there for months without without even having to have a job. Really. Yeah, she's just living off of the money that she made
on these cruise ships. She said. The thing about him that makes them profitable is once you're on them, you spend nothing because there's nowhere to shop. Really. Uh, they feed you, they drink you, they board you. Everything that the musicians need on those ships is one percent comped, so you're not you're not shelling out any cash for anything. Yeah. Well I'm on those like the Creed Cruise. Yeah, if you're one of the bands, because then you get one of the best suites on the cruise.
I'm sure sure, And I've seen them, Like if you get the corner suite on a cruise, it's like a fat hotel room. You can have one of the private hot tub and a piano in there. I mean I've never a piano. Yeah, like you can go full. I mean, you're gonna pay ten times what you'd pay for a balcony sweep. Yeah, that is wild. So the reason we're talking about this is there was a cruise ship that I guess that it originated from Mauritius, an island in the
Indian Ocean. I believe. Anyway, Well, they had to they wouldn't allow it to dock because fifteen people were suffering from a stomach illness. It has docked subsequently, and we found out, Mikey found out that the reason that these people were sick was because of cholera. Now, cholera is something you hear about and it sounds deadly. Well, yeah, it can be,
because it's a bacterial disease that is typically spread through contaminated water. It causes severe diarrhea and dehydration, and if left untreated, cholera can be fatal within hours, even in previously healthy people. Now, modern sewage, water treatment, all that stuff, they've virtually eliminated cholera in industrialized countries, but it still exists in Africa, Southeast Asia and Haiti. And it sounds to me like this is where this ship originated from, or was at the time
in Southeast Asia and the risk of cholera. The risk of a cholera epidemic is highest when poverty, war, or natural disasters forced people to live in crowded conditions without adequate sanitation. Now it is easily treated and death from severe dehydration can be prevented with a simple and inexpects an inexpensive rehydration solution. But if untreated, you just basically die of dehydration because of all of the diarrhea. Man, that's rough. Well, I guess they they said that wasn't
yu. They found out they docked it. Texter said, spring Break twenty twenty. I was on cruise that ended the world. We were the last ship let into Galveston and then everything shut down. Oh my god. I mean I remember having people on a few years back. They were tried for that flag almost a month, Like, Yeah, couldn't go to work, couldn't go home. That should be a movie. It should be a movie. The Corona Cruise starring Tom heaven Costner, Oh starring Tom Cruise and Penelope
Cruise and Penelope Cruise Cruise and now Killer any Corona Crew. He's Kevin Turner, that's dam Bailey, Mike's ro jj Jackson is here. She was laughing moments ago, now not laughing anymore. Kind of the curse of hanging out with us. Don't miss the game stop the debut of brand new segment. You think we're scared to talk video games, Nope, we weren't scared to talk food in the food court. We ain't scared to talk games in the Games Stop. That'll be at eight o'clock this morning, but coming up next
it's Sports at seven. Kevin who's gonna be the running back for the Cowboys next year? Next to ninety seven? Won the Freak
