You're listening to the downbeat on ninety seven to one the freak. Wake up, your little sleepy head. It's time to get your stupid ass out of bed. To you about the most important thing in the most important thing you. We're gonna get to this in depth, real real soon. Hear in about twenty five minutes. But after an I don't know, somewhat unconvincing win against the Detroit Lions, you're Dallas Cowboys are the unlikely recipients of the NFC
East if they simply beat Washington on see thank you Eagles. Incredible And it's not lost on me, and it shouldn't be to anybody that the bugaboo for the Eagles was the bugaboo that I thought was going to bite the Cowboys in the ass, that they were going to look back at that damn Arizona game and that was going to cost them the division or maybe even the playoffs. And look what they did to Philly. It's pretty incredible. All Dallas has
to do is beat the Commanders and they win the NFC East. The Commanders, who the most fun team that's given up a month ago, the most unlikely scenario, and we'll talk about this later in depth. But man, as this season is winding down, how much is it really starting to mirror the way the Rangers season played out? I mean, if you want to say that, that's fine, because the thing is, the Rangers think they
were going to fully miss the playoffs. We've done. The Cowboys gonna make the playoffs playing well, and I don't know if they are playing well. I don't either. We didn't know if they're But look, man, we didn't know that the Rangers. We didn't think the Rangers were playing well going into the playoffs now at all? Yeah, so big questions about one specific part of the team, you know, same thing with the Cowboys. I think we have big questions about a couple of different specific parts of the team.
And you just sit here and go let happen. Think about the Rangers, you had confidence that, well, this this might just be a Kevin opinion. He'd confidence that the manager is going to pull the right strings here and there and make the right moves. I have zero confidence that Mike McCarthy's going to do the correct things in crunch time moment. So many things inside that suitcase, Kevin, And what are we gonna do? We damn sure.
But the most important thing in the world. And also that could lead you to a lot of scenarios to the Cowboys now the two seed because of the win over the Lions. That I mean, my god, I've got audio of the Lions coach Dan Campbell, Captain Caveman, Jared Goff who looks like Ken from the Barbie movie. We get some audio of those guys. All that stuff. We'll get into it seven. And not to mention the whole scenario of the end of the game, all the confusion and it's a
conjecture that went down after that. We're gonna have the authority on that, on that whole scene. Dean Blandino is going to join us at nine o'clock. Yeah, they called Voice of the MAVs Chuck Cooper Stein the higher authority. Dean Landino is just the high authority. He's just real high all the time. He's not he's not, he's a friend. What are you doing?
He'll pop on at nine uh old, Dean and if a villain in this town for many people because of the Des Caught It game, and he was in charge with the NFL time making the ruling that des did not catch it, which he didn't. You know, I think by the lay of the law, he didn't the lay of the land, the letter, the letter of the law and the lay of the land. You're killing him. Oh, there's so many phrases. There really are, there's too many.
I screw him up all the time. But the hypothetical is nine years later we could be staring at Packers Cowboys wild Card Round. If the Cowboys win and the Packers win on Sunday, they both play at three twenty five. If they both win, it is Packers and Cowboys, the Mike McCarthy Bowl and at and T Stadium. So give me that, Give me that all day long. You want that note? Oh my god. Yes, But I also am a lifelong Packers fan who needs to win to get in,
and I don't care who we'd play. We're in a rebuilding year and we're in the same position we were in last year with Aaron Rodgers, where Week eighteen winning get in game, pretty impressive. Packers defense is really bad, but man, the quarterbacks been playing good. It's very strange. Let's fly to Japan, Kevin. Yes, it's got a Japan, But maybe we shouldn't fly. Maybe we should take other means of travel the most important thing
in the world today. Tuesday, January second, twenty twenty four, they got a passenger plane just kind of hanging out and uh Airport in Tokyo when a Coastguard aircraft collided with it and the passenger plane burst into flames. They think three hundred and seventy nine people were on that plane. WHOA, here's the good news, Danny. That's a big, fat full plane. Man. Three hundred and seventy nine people got out safely before the plane was completely
engulfed. That's so, when when the coast Guard plane hit the passenger plane, they were still on board. Yeah, they weren't dplaning or d boarding or whatever they call it. Yeah, So that's the part that I'm not sure if they were about to leave or if they were like taxing, So like that's that's the part I'm not sure of yet. So no deaths. Well, the coast Guard plane had six people on it. The pilot survived.
Five other people in the Coastguard plane have passed. But they, I mean, the footage is on. They have video footage of this and it is a big, old, big old bursting of flames on a runway. I haven't seen this yet. Is it one of those? Because I remember there was one of a similar situation number of years back where people are just piling out of this burning plane and the survival rate was incredibly high compared to what you were witnessing. Was it like that? We were like, how
the hell did anybody make it out of this? Much less all of them? So one guy who was on the plane said, basically, the cabin filled with smoke. Immediately they all got low to try to avoid the smoke, to get as low as you can get. I guess, I mean there's not a room on a plane for everyone who just lay down on the floor. I said, it's not realistic. But then that's a big plane.
If you got damn near Porner, people on that sucker have a huge plane, and that the fact that the plane is so huge them might have given them time to get people off though, because you had well get people off the plane, because you have I don't know why you'd be thinking about that in such a stressful time. And then, lad, it's been a
good one, boys, been a goodful dandy dawn. But then the emergency doors open and they just run out onto a field, and I just imagine the scene in Tommy Boy where they start yell, I'm sorry the movie Black Sheep where they start yelling bees or was it Tommy Boy where they getting pulled over by the cops and they just start yelling that their I think it was Black Sheep. I don't remember that scene from Tommy Boy, the movie that
I've seen probably no less than sixty eight times. Everyone who saw Tommy Boy one hundred times saw Black Sheep twice. You've never been more correct. Oh no, there's a couple of good scenes in Black Sheep, not that many. So there's a field and people just started running out, so they got them out, and there we go. Now this comes after a couple of days of this is like one of the first headlines I saw after springing into
twenty twenty four. Yep. And that's, you know, a week before we get to twenty twenty four, it's like, hey, New Year's Day, or on the second we're getting the Epstein list. I was like, okay, twenty twenty four set up to be a wild, one, huge seven point one earthquake off the coast of Tokyo or off the coast of Japan. But there are people in Tokyo who are feeling this seven point one. There was a tsunami warning that was rescinded, you know, a few minutes
later. But it's just like, here we go. We have bad stuff happening in Japan to start the year, and this is onarthing cap think. I'm just going to track the news every single day. I'm just gonna track it and add and just document the most important thing in the world every single day. And for the end of the year montage, we'll have one hundred segments one hundred what segments was go in order look back at the year one by one each story. I don't know, you're going to do it on
the back of that piece of printer paper. Yeah, that you just flipped over and grabbed your pen and then set your pin back. Now you're not even writing anything down. No. Three hundred and seventy nine Alive after the Coast Guard crashed into the Japanese jumbo jet. If you see the video, I mean, I don't know. I'm not saying people like seeing some things like that, but it's a look, I'm still a boy. You know, he got a hold of that one, you know, give it a
rip. You know, I like that stuff. When you see the plane and the explosion, I'm still a boy, you know. Does any of that make sense to you a little bit? Yeah? Yeah, for sure, I like those things. It's the train wreck mentality. You can't look away. Let the big dog eat, you know, I like that stuff. You know, I think you're confusing your phrase. These are all like guys stuff, you know. Let the big dog eat. Yeah, that one. Yeah he got a hold of that one. Okay, let her
rip tater chip. These are all, you know, things like that. So you see the explosion, that's the point. Did you see the photos of the earthquake aftermath? Yeah, it's insane. That's one natural disaster that
I'm like. Tornadoes suck, and that's probably that's our number one every day Think so too, because with our warning systems that we have in place, you should be able to get out of the way of one, you know what I mean, like you, you should be able to at least put yourself in a really favorable position to survive if you know that tornadic activity is at least a possibility where you live. Yes, the earthquakes, it sneaks
up on you like an assassin in the night. Well, you know, and the land earthquakes a little different if you're the coastal earthquakes is what terrifies me. Well, of course, like you said, you've bark water right, and crazy waves, anything water related. I'm out on is there anything more terrifying than the tsunami? If you if you live on a coast where you're just having a nice fun day at the beach and you look off in the distance and you're not sure and it's too late by the time you realize
what it is. Did you see the big waves in California, dude, in Ventura? Yeah, that could have been the most important thing that it happened. You know, it was a week ago exactly, but good greed. Yeah, I mean I've walked those streets many times for a training camp. There was an article six or seven years ago, and I want to say that it was the Observer, but I'm not sure that was just a
rogue wave that wasn't a tsunami. But still, but there was a case of big waves and I saw, like people in the comments are like, hey, this happens a lot. This is just now getting documented this year for whatever reason. But this happens every couple of years we have a case of you know, big waves going. You know, Ventura is laid out there too, which just you know, right there, man, walk right to the sand. But I remember there's a big store in the Dallas Observer
five six, seven years ago about Lake Lewisville. If it were to flood, a catastrophic flooding here, it would be hell for downtown Dallas because Lake Lewisville holds enough water and it can get that far. I don't know, man, it seems very you know, theoretical, But they had you know, environmentalist on and they were kind of explaining how it could happen. It was a good article. I remember reading that too. That was when I think that was gosh, maybe about ten years ago, when the Trinity was
just absolutely yeah breach. Yeah. Their levees were damn near breech at the pinnacle of how high that water could get. I drove my damn car over there and walked across that pedestrian bridge that's right there west of downtown. Then took a bunch of videos and just to have it because I've never seen that
river that full. And I remember reading that same article talking about how we get I guess a lot of our water supply is from Lewisville, or that the Trinity River somehow connects with that lake, and if it overflowed that it would literally flood a great portion of the downtown area. Flooding's terrifying. Yeah, flooding just terrifyed. I mean, good, imagine a tsunami, though now you can't outrun it. The power of water is it's beyond our comprehension.
Where we live, you know, we don't see anything like that. Yeah, it's taught at early age to respect the water and respect the fire and the wind too. And the wind you should respect the wind a little more than we do. We probably don't. But that's the thing about tornadoes. Back to that point. We eat tornado over time. And I'm sure nine out of ten meteorologists would disagree. But I think given the power and nature of our radar systems, they tell us how fast the storm's moving,
they show us the path the storm is on. I'm not telling you to get on a freeway, but if you do happen to live in a residential area, I'll take my chances in my car with a storm that's going forty five miles per hour on driving out of the way at fifty sixty seventy eighty miles per hour out of the way back roading. Now, look, I'm not telling you. If you don't know your way around or you don't follow maps, real well, don't do this. Hunker down. But it's real
hard for me to go. A tornado's coming at me, and I'm just gonna sit here now. I don't have a storm celler I did back when I lived in the country. We had a storm seller. We'd go underground, say you know here, No, it's getting a tub. I'll tell you what I'm doing if you're telling me, and I'm telling you. I'm a weather tracker, though, so I'm gonna be on this. I'm not saying spur of the moment, grab your key, he's getting the car.
No, you know what's coming. It's like fifteen twenty minutes ahead of time. I'm like, this storm is on a deadened path towards my home. Yeah, and you can see it. You can see if you zoom in on the maps, if you're really paying attention to the forecast, you can tell if it's an exit north of you, an exit south of you. You can really hone in and focus up on what you need to do. I can side road, back road, my way out of harm's way. Yeah, just and feel good about myself. And I think a pretty safe
route would be anywhere that takes you away from Wyse or Denton Counties. Yes, because it seems like that is the alley and it comes to the metroplace. Huh yeah, Oh my god, feels like it always always up there. McKenny, Denton, Boyd Boyd Weatherford Weatherford. So shout out to Japan. Yeah, we're we're praying for Japan. In fact, today everyone go have some good japan ease food for lunch. Yeah, and maybe have a nice pint of supporo yesterday tradition. Yep, that's so good. Super Birthdays.
Did you go with the spicy pork? Uh? Just right your spice me so yeah, Yeah, that's absolutely that's the one to go to. Yep, nailed it too. It's a comfort food for me. Danny. Kate Bosworth is forty one, Kate Bosword one of the stars about Kate Bosworth one of the stars in the movie Tiptoes Okay, also beautiful. I gotta say, well, all that Tiptoes crap was going on last year good. I did not succumb I did not, and I'm I'm a better man for it. I don't think you are. Yeah I am. I didn't have
to watch that stupid crap. Yeah, you guys did. Is she the one that had like a weird relationship with the Cowboys. There's an actress that's kind of in that, uh, Kate Bosworth lane and has like Dallas Cowboys connections or something like that. And it's a bad question to ask on the plot what else has she done? Like I kind of don't really reckon name Blue crushah in like two thousand and one, there's a here's an article from
twenty fourteen. Okay, Jerry Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is dancing with Kate Bosworth, a thirty one year old blonde actress and bottle Jerry Jones was dancing with the co star of the movie Tiptoes. She's forty one Kevin Yes, also forty one Anthony Kerrigan. That is no ho Hank on the TV show Barry on HBO Baddy. Does he really have that hair situation or is just she he shaved his entire body for that for that role. Yeah, what

It can affect you just your scalp, orangeleish, entire body. It can be temporary or permanent result of heredity, hormonal changes. Medical conditions are a normal part of aging. Anyone can lose hair on their head. But I don't think what he has is called alopecia. D it says he does. Is
that what they're saying is okay? Noh hank On Barry had Dax Shepherd's forty nine, married to Kristen Bell. Is it Dak or Dax Dax? Yeah, Dak's Shepherd he at real famous in the podcast. Podcasts are fine, but they're so long and they're so edited, like two hours and forty five minutes with one person. Did you can tell whoever? I feel bad who edits his podcast because they they kept the they like cut out of the dead
space to make it under three hours. Yeah, but you know, all people come to your house and do interviews and make money off of it and I guess we're power to you. I wonder what he pays sidekick, because I know that podcast makes a by give her again guest house. But I bet she's making a million a year. She's gotta be easy. Doug Rob of Huba Steak is forty nine, Danny, do you know what huba stank means? Is it weed? Nope? What is it? Well? They

I think hoobastank is a funny term that they all had when they're sitting in their recording space and someone farts and they go, whobus stank, Like who's butt stank? Stanks? Hooba stank? Hoopa stank? They're asking was it Kurt? Why wouldn't they just look? They don't care. They're a rock and roll band. If that's what it was. I think they would admit to it. Do you know their big song?
I'd know it if I heard it. You're not a perfect person, I know us. The reason is the song? Oh yeah, dude, that was like on my uh executive pleasure list. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know the names of the bands, but that song Smashes. Yeah, yeah, I hated that song when it came out. When you played that, I was like, yeah, you're right, roy Reason, Oh it's
so good. If I could write one song that good woof, you can and you have, I will Royce Clayton's fifty four for a Ranger shortstop The Man that got Chad Curtis is buttoning up roar over the thong song, right, Chad Curtis is like, we're not playing the thong song in my dugout, okay, And then Royce Klayton, I think punch Team or something. Meanwhile, Chad Curtis, who fashioned himself a good hearty Christian man, man of the Lord, believe it, to do some jail time for roping an
underage girl as he was a I hate Chad Curtis. I remember he was handing out baseball cards. If you're like seven or eight years old, you go down look for autographs, first baseline bother rangers dug out, and he's handed out Chad Curtis autograph cards and pre made and he's got scripture on the back, and and then you find out later that he's a he's a freaking Peto Cuba Gooding Junior is fifty six. OJ. He was great. He does a radio. He was great in the people versus O. J.

Really, Mason Gooding very correct in the screen franchise Tia Carretra fifty seven, Wayne's the World, Wayne's World's Yeah. She was a hot commodity back in the day. Edgar Martinez sixty one, okay, baseball, Calvin Hills seventy seven, and Danny Kevin. Roger Miller would have
been eighty eight. What's his number one hit? Roger Miller? The dead Man? Are we talking about the King of the Road? Guy, King of the Road? Whoa? He would have only been eighty eight? Yeah? Are you sure about this? According to my sources, Roger Miller is younger than my dad. I thought you could have told me Roger Miller would have been one hundred and twenty and I would have said, yeah, that tracks eighty eight eighty eight trailer for Sail Red other things four fifteen cents.
Hmmm, I'll be damned, big wing and Roger Miller was so much more than that song. Oh he was. And I know if I worked on a different radio station or had my own podcast, I would do a deep dive on Roger Miller and show you he was so much more than King of the Road. We're not allowed to do that here, Danny. No, you know why, because nobody cares. No, that's why anything. Yes, you're right, they want current relevant news stories are relevant news sports stories,
Kevin. I'll give you a current relevant news story right now, Danny, buckle up for this tease, ready buckled big news in Roanoke. We'll give you the breaking details, plus why the Cowboys were handed their season on a silver platter on Saturday Night and why it might have saved this guy's job. Next, on ninety seven, won the Freak
