You're listening to the downbeat on ninety seven to one the Freak. I think this was in the top fifty of my twenty twenty twenty twenty Spotify wrap up Danny's thrust Songs playlist. I can't wait to see that. Can you send that to me over Christmas? Break? What mut your list of thrust songs on a playlist? It's very easy. Don't tell me how to make a baby in twenty twenty. Yeah, I don't write them on paper. Make a carefully craft of curated playlist and send it to me. I'm going to

make you a mixtape, girl. Let's I'm gonna do mixtapes? Bo we do I Ever, that was a good way to share a little bit of insight into who you were. Yes with a with a prospect, you know, and you'd find out a lot about them because if they they either would listen to it carefully, or at least they would lie and tell you that they did. Oftentimes you would realize they didn't, or they'd be like Siroy's dad and take it out of the tape machine and fling it out the damn

windows and launch it. See you, we don't need this too many bad words here, goodbye. It's like you can keep it for yourself. You have to throw it out the window. What tape was that? I forgot his comedian? Okay, that's right, Edgie comedian. I forgot who it was though. What's thet gold Wade or something. Oh it's Eddie Kennison.

No, Sam Kennison's or Rams wide receiver Sam Kennison. Yeah, okay, thirty minutes, we'll tell you a little bit about what's going on with the Buffalo Bills, the Cowboys opponent, because it's highly fascinating and it involves their coach being in hot water. A big three piece, twenty thousand word article dropped on him, his incompetence and other things. I just know the one thing that happened in twenty nineteen. Yeah, that's made you know, headlines

over the last three four days. It's a it's a wild story and there's a weirdly Mike Karthy background to it. There's a lot there. Okay, so at seven will do that. It's seven point thirty. My buddy Mike Palucci from D Magazine, he's a sports editor at D Magazine, is coming in and he has written an article. It's already on the actual magazine and it'll go online early next week ahead of the Iron Claw movie, which is

coming out, you know, over Christmas. And it is about a von Eric brother that it's definitely not featured in the Iron Clall movie and suspiciously omitted. Yes, well it's not that one. It's not even the one that was suspiciously omitted, the fake one kind of yes, he was the cousin. Yeah, well we have a brother. Then there was a cousin that

was involved, I guess with the family as well. Well, this is about Lant and he has done some excellent reporting here and we're gonna have him in the studio kind of tell us about how he went about gathering the story, tell us some of the details of the story, and uh, it's pretty I was talked to him on the phone about this a few weeks ago and I was like, this is incredible. Whatever, you know, this

thing's coming out, let's let's go itcause it was good. And it was when when I was talking to him on the phone, it was like two days before we went into the you know, world premiere of it. So it's highly fascinating. I haven't read the article yet. It's on the magazine. You know it's on the actual magazine. And I mean, you've delivered to my house IV, I just haven't. I don't know. Maybe I don't check the mail enough. Do you think Sroy check the mail every day?

I checked my mail once a week. I shouldn't me too. Do you think you do that? Do you think Troy scratching his head that he takes a vacation and in back to back days we have wrestling guests in studio.

Yeah, Chris Jericho yesterday, which by the way, is up on our podcast page if I want to peep that, and then uh, your boy today and he'll be off work the a few days before Cowboys Dolphins, I mean, the foremost dolphins expert in the nation, and he's gonna be, you know, eating up the rest of his vacation days because we should use their vacation days. We should. Okay, we'll do birthdays in a second. Right now, let's get to this because the birthdays are interesting.

For that. The birthdays do tire a little bit. To this song, even to one of them does hard to know? All right, Little damn Mavericks, fantastic boy. That was impressive. They had no business winning that game. But then they did you know what I'm saying, they did. It just had that feeling at least the last couple of years that they were going to lose it, you know, just because they were so decimated,

and you just got the feeling that, especially at the end. So they surmounted a pretty big lead in the second quarter, and LA closed that gap at the end of the second quarter. The MAVs were terrible about closing out the third quarter because Luca was sitting to get some rest in the last what four or five minutes of that quarter, and their bench was the Mavericks bench was not good. Yeah, not good at all, and allowed the Lakers

to come back and even that game up. But I'll be damned if the Mavericks and led by Luca obviously and another fellow we'll get to in a minute. I'm sure you've got a lot on him. Maybe if you're talking about I'll see friend, mate. Yeah, if they don't end up getting a decent size six point lead and then just trade baskets the rest of the game and get away with that, dude. They were so good in the fourth, so good, and it felt like, I don't know, I never

like felt terribly like nervous about it. I had that little I mean, I say, anytime the last few years you watch Magic, Okay, this could get ugly in the fourth quarter, like we've we're here all along, we just don't have enough guys and they and I would have been fine with that, dude, fine with that. The Lakers just won the nd season tournament. Lebron is playing as good as he ever had, as Davis was out of his mind last night. Good, he's just nuts, unstoppable.

And then the and then you're out there with pretty much Luca and you know, his guys, but but not full, not his full compliment of guys. And that's the thing about that team, man, They're really good as long as Luca has at least one reliable shotgun rider on any given night. I think that's the number, right, at least one, and if it's

two, amazing look out below. And yeah, I guess to an extent he didn't need to last night, because I mean, you see, I don't know, basketball is way more complicated than well, if you're making your shots, but the amount of open looks that this team gets and has gotten ever since Luca's been here, is amazing. Because he just he's the hoover vacuum when it comes to attention spans on defense for the teams, they can't

help to start going towards him. Yeah, and especially on the dribble penetration, the collapse that happens on him and then they which leaves just dudes wide open with great looks, and they were knocking him down. Tim Hardaway was incredible last night, especially on defense. Tim Hardaway went three for four on drawing charges. Yeah, with a bad back, And you know that's the thing. The defensively, this team's not going to be probably top half of

the league. You know a lot of defensive stats, all right, but they're playing faster this year. They're going to be a top ten offensive team, and they're probably gonna be the middle of the pack or a little worse on defense. But make enough plays at big times, and then you add a few things like getting offensive rebounds. Derek Wively had eight rebounds, four

of those are offensive rebounds last night. So little things like that just kind of help you go, Okay, we're not just a team who's gonna gi up one hundred and thirty points every night. Will we give up one hundred and fifteen most nights, absolutely, but there's better. You know, there's a really good chance for to score one hundred and twenty second night on a back to back too. They were in Memphis the night before. Keep that in mind, fifty minutes the night before, good Man, let's give the

organization credit for going. I'm assuming they went. We know Tim Hardaway Junior can't play both of these games the City Mountain, Memphis and then play Lakers. I'm assuming that's how it worked. Maybe it was he just couldn't go in Memphis and he toughed it up last night. Grant Williams, who's been hurt, been missing time, he is not close to one hundred percent. He went and drained a bunch of threes too, Damn sure it did. He's been fun and he's had a couple of games where he's gone zero for

seven from threes. But like when he's shooting the ball well and Tim Hardaway's adding offense that you can get by with Kyrie out. Yeah, Man, with Kyrie out, you've had a player that's had to step up and kind of fill his shoes. And for over the last three or four games, man, you the unsung hero of last night was our little Ossie buddy. Yes, Dante Exum is interesting because he's a guy who I remember from ten years ago because he was the number five pick in the twenty fourteen draft.

To taking back to twenty fourteen and worre this franchise was kind of farting around the final days of Dirk, but he was the number five pick by Utah. He played. He played all eighty two games in year one and then he tours acl in fifteen, went back to Australia. Not yet he stayed in twenty sixteen, he got traded to Cleveland. At some point, had

a shoulder injury, had an ankle injury, had another knee injury. Then he went to Australia and then after that or no, he went to Barcelona for a while and I think he went to Italy and then the MAVs signed him and his contract is a two year deal. He had two years, six million dollars. Wow, hasn't he already paid that off? My god? I mean that is and look, Dante Exam when Kyrie's playing and everyone's healthy, he's probably not gonna play that much. But maybe they've unlocked a

guy who's just gonna be an awesome shooter. And what do you need with this team? Guys that can put it in, who can stand in a place and just knock it down with confidence and be ready to just catch the ball and ready to go. And that's what's like Dorian Phinney Smith turned into such a great shooter A because he did that on his own. He was improved every year. B he got open looks. It's just easier to not get a shot. The guys that run at your face, we all know

this, is there a path for Dodo to come back here? I wish I'd take that. Uh probably not, though no I would. I mean, I don't know what Brooklyn's situation is, but you know, you kind of have that. Grant Williams as that now, you know, and you paid him pretty good money. Oh he's twenty five. He's fun. You know, he doesn't look like it, but he's twenty five. So let's keep Grant Williams contract four years at fifty thirty. And they said, yeah,

so that's when he signed with Boston. Either way, it's oh yeah, four years, fifty four million. So math tells me I used to be good at math. Yeah, I used to be doing number since I could do it all. It's like four thirteen and a half something like that. So thirteen and a half he makes twice of what Axim will make. I mean we had this last year though. You remember justin Holiday who he got for on like a ten day contract and he hung around for like a

month. Maybe he's I got three point he like three good three point shooting games, and then you know it was kind of bad. So ex has been consistent though when he's been in there. Yeah, and he was a prospect, like he was a guy who was highly thought of. He just couldn't stay healthy. Yeah, Well he's making he's making future money. If it ain't with this team, it's with somebody else right now, that's for sure. Man. Are you concerned at all about headband Luca's technical tally?

Is that starting to become I don't know a little concerning. I don't know what it's his current number is at or what that extrapolates for the rest of the season. But he's got six, Okay, he's got sixty's third in the league behind Trey Young and christophs Porzingis, who's got eight. It'll be a concern at the end of the year, like number sixteen. It is every damn year. Yeah, but what are we a fourth quarter quarter of the way through the season. How many games have they played? Yeah that

was last time was game twenty two, I believe. Okay, so we're a little over one fourth of the season. So yeah, he's he needs twenty four. What's the what's the limit of technical sixteen? Is it sixteen? How many technical fouls? Yeah? Here it is sixteen. Yeah, he needs to chill. I mean, look, and some of these should be rescinded. But the roughs are not cutting him any brakes, and they're

just not gonna do that. I mean, anytime you're yelling, even you're talking trash like you said, I mean it said the other night, they need to let us talk trash. I agree, But you've put yourself in a position where they can't. If they don't know that you're talking trash like, it may not be clear the heat of the moment either. They just don't want to hear you. And like he sees, he sees things that like, for example, the ball that went out of bounds off the bottom

of the backboard last night, that was egregious. That should have been MAVs ball. The double could have challenged though right too. I don't know if that's challengeable. And I know that kid used a challenge earlier. Yeah, that that that they won. That was on UH. That was on UH. That was called on Hardaway for blocking foul when he was outside of the

restricted area, and they challenged that when they that call got overturned. And then there was another call that Luca was flipping out about that was on a pretty obvious double dribble that ended up being an I can't remember who it was or who was the recipient, but it ended up being a pretty easy bucket. Underneath the guy touched the ball, handle the ball twice and passed it, and I think it was it was I think it was Ad that got

a lay up underneath. But Luca was freaking out over that. The problem is is I think what Luca needs to do. It's kind of like in our company or in the military, where you send your complaints up the chain, go to your coach, have him advocate for you. You know what I'm saying. Rather than rather than pointing your ire at the official, go to kid man, say dude, do something man, you know, like tell Jason, because if Jason gets a technical, I don't think that really

affects He's not going to get sixteen. But if he could take the load off of Luca's tally at least a couple of those a year, that's gonna help him at the end of the season. But man, Lucas, he's going to he's gonna be vocal about injustices that he sees on the court, and I would say more than fifty percent of the time he's probably right. He's right in his argument, but he berates these guys man, and he stays on him and you see him bringing the ball up the court, and

half the time he's not even looking at the play ahead of him. He's looking to his left or right at an official. Still John with the guy. That's why I'm like, he gets to a point where he wears him down before Yeah, and what that does it doesn't matter anymore. Well, yeah, he wears these officials down throughout the duration of a game that later on in a game he might bitch about something that early in the game they

wouldn't call a technical on. But they're so worn out by the guy, it's like, dude, shut up, and they tee him up out of their frustration. There's got to be a breaking point at some at some juncture, he's got to realize when to back off. I don't think he can. I don't think he can either, man. I think he is so nang competitive. Maybe he's so vocal if he has a kid and that chills out, and maybe he's got the girl. Maybe he's like, you'll finally

calm down after a little bit. But right now it's a bad pace, a pace of twenty four or something like that. Hey, we have more MAVs at eight o'clock. Let's let's run through birtases real quick. It's a big day of birthdays. Have for audio two. You get the cored hand, I don't. I can give it. Yeah, thank you. JJ's girl Taylor Swift thirty four, thirty four. She's one year younger than the

UKVO technically two. I'll be thirty six next month. So but yes, but yes, let's see Steve Bushimi sixty six, the great best role Geez Billy Madison, grown ups. I'm gonna Compiuckie Thompson. My favorite thing that I've ever seen him in is a movie that nobody's seen and it's called Trees Lounge, and he plays he kind of plays like a Mickey roorkin barfly type character and creepy, just kind of a you know, down on his luck dude that spends all of his days in a bar. It's really good.

Yeah, it's a very touching story. He did one movie and I Forget Was Cold, where he's kind of a creepy ice cream truck driver. Yeah, very odd movie because he could play that character easily. He's great. Jamie Fox is fifty six. He's good now. Allegation station, allegation train station for sure, but join the club. Dick van Dyke is ninety eight. Speaking of Dick van Dyke is how old? Ninety eight? God's still?

That's crazy, sweet man, Danny get him. John Anderson is sixty nine, bass player or singer for Yes, the other John Anderson in music. This is the country singer Yes okay, swinging on the front or swinging you I sound like yet his nose nose it hid sinus infection. He also had the Florida State Seminoles song Seminole Win Morris Day sixty six, Morris sixty six is the Time, The Time eight sixty six, Tom DeLong forty eight. If you're d long, does that mean you're short? Do you have

a delonged penis? It's the matter with you, Tom DeLong and blank Win forty eight and he is look at for aliens at all times. Dude, it's crazy. We live in a world where the Blink one eighty two guys are almost fifty. Time didn't stop for anyone, my man, wall sure don't. Evan Essences, Amy lee Is forty two. Do you know that

song? You know what's funny about that song? I mean, Christina used to laugh at this is like that song would be going, it'd be playing, all of a sudden some guy comes in and just starts yelling in the middle of it. Some guy comes in hard with a weird rap in it.

I remember a million years ago there was this very strange considered dating this girl one time, and she had me back over to her place and then put on Evanessence and was trying to tell me all about Evan Essence and then got on the piano and started singing Evanescence songs like Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and go home. She's trying to introduce you. Yeah, she picked

the wrong artist. Did you go ahead and no? I left? Nah, come on man, No, no, you just go ahead and no, if you're there, you know you're already there, you might as well. Yeah, she worked that hard and gets you there and played on the piano and sharing you with some evidence. That's the thing that this is someone grateful. This is what I'm talking about with ungrateful. No, no,

I ain't feeding that straight cat. Look you act like you like that and then the next thing you know, they're blowing your phone up and then you gotta hang out with Evanescence Gal again, No, sir, that's the thing about Danny's Danny. Danny gets invited back to Gal's places. Oh for a lot of guys. Yeah, an the other way around. Yeah, when Evanescence was this is a long time ago. It doesn't matter. I don't get invited back to girls places now. I would hope not. Danny.

You're got ted news at seventy five. That's your guy. You're pretty aligned with him. Oh yeah. Berki Jenkins eighty one and now to the audio portion of birthdays. This is the birthday of a couple of twins who are sixty one to day, Rex and Rob Ryan is anything. No, I'm sorry, I'm just just oh, okay, there's no car trouble or anything. No, I'm okay. Oh, you do not have to put your feet in you can leave mat. Yeah, it's the Rex Ryan put fetish

and from what it looks right like right there, role playing scandal. Why is it a scandal? I don't know, because two thousand and three people are ready for a tape to leak out of Rex Ryan's wife's feet out of her driver's side window and he's acting like he's a cop. He's like, you don't have to put your feet away. It's the it's really the grossest. It's bad acting, too awesome. Leave them alone. They're married. He wants to be a cop. Look at her feet and I have to

go back to the pastor this is why is it a scandal? It's not. It was you know new or TMZ your Jets head coach. You know it's tough. Uh. It's a birthday of Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, who's thirty three, and you just gotta be careful when you say his name. He got twenty seven point three million up front and his dealer cock one of the best. Cox dump it, butcher cocks. What are the best tackles? I didn't hear what you missaid, but your cocks? What do

you want me to do? Flex my what? What are the best? How you doing over there? We're talking football? You're doing okay? You want me to flex my what? Okay? So he got twenty seven point three guarantee. I love the football music playing. Yeah, it's so stupid. That'd be a weird remarketing strategy for the corn Dog company at the State. The Eagles at one time had Fletcher Cox, Lane Johnson, which they still do, Jason Peters, and a running back named Wendells Smallwood. Are

you serious? Yes, all at the same time, not to mention their uh that that that walk on defensive back from Hawaii, Lance Dong Alance Dong, And I mean technically if you want to keep it going. Their quarterbacks last time is hurt. We're their middle linebacker Fred Deep. They made Madden's all Wiener team. Oh man, come on, super shake that tiny d

coming up next. Why the Cowboys' next opponent is going through so much turmoil their head coaches in hot Water. There's a whole weird anti American element to it all. It's crazy, and it's coming up next on the Freak
