The downbeat on ninety seven to one, the freak. All right, at one hour, I've got a pertinent update on the State Fair shooting. We might have a motive, we have security cam footage, a little bit more information, get to that seven thirty. This dude may have a case. He really might. Yeah, it's it's way more blurry. I thought having Shippy on, who was barricaded there should' is the DJ for the MAVs and
the Stars. It turns out Ship he didn't have a lot of good information, And it turns out Shippy barricaded himself into a room to write out the gummy buzz. Yeah. Yeah, he was there a different day than the shooting, and he was wearing a fried kevlar vests, so he was fine. Yeah, he purchased for two thousand, two thousand fair tickets. That was funny. That was weird. I some full on that Shivy was more worried about repopulating the fair. Yeah, and Soroy had a couple give on
yesterday Popular back to back. You even spread them out two jokes in four hour, four hours, and they were both with it in a minute, and he just lost me again after that. You're a true outcome comedian. That's right, that's right. What a day? What about? Uh uh? Eight hours straight of staring at the boob tube pretty much? What did we get? Like a forty five minute break, enough time to make a giant pot of spaghetti. I walk the dog. I did the fast dog
walk where we went like what like two full blocks shorter than normal. And as we're heading back for home, I'm doing the pull on the collar. You ever do this with your dog, Like I'll do the jog on the sidewalk. Hey, we're jogging, just to get him to jog, like I'm trying to make it back by kick. Dude. Yeah, I did the same thing and he's like, what are you doing? Stop pulling me? Boy? They just want to stop and smell everything. Pee nothing, oh the fake pee. Oh my god, it's kind of hold on the
tank is empty? Brother. Yeah, it's like six times. And then they wait till the very end to maybe they'll maybe they'll poop, maybe they won't. I don't know, but you know what, I'm not waiting around no, because I have a tiny backyard and if you don't do number two on this walk, I don't care. I'm not waiting for you. I've got to get back in. You can go in the backyard. I'll leave you out there for ten minutes. It's fine all night. It's amazing.
There was a window, and we knew this was a three thirty seven first pitch. There was a window from six forty five to seven to fifteen. You're kind of hoping for you maybe if the game goes fast, it'll be over six thirty or whatever, six fifteen. Yeah, game got over about six forty six forty five, and you had thirty minutes to get something done. I cared way more about the Rangers than the Cowboys last night. I think most people did. And a win would have been a win in the
baseball game, no matter what. But I was just like, no extras, because what if this thing, if this is a fourteen inning job and we overlapped a halftime, Oh my god, you know, brutal. You have to get that. It looked real possible it a minute. We'll jump into Big Ranger here at the top of the hour at seven o'clock Sports at seven. I think Cowboys for now, though. Yeah, the second most important thing in the world, the most important Sofi Stadium is where it was
last night the waterfall. The place is awesome. I don't want to go. I haven't been. Yeah, it looks incratitude, I say every time. The design of that thing is out of this world. Good God. I maybe have the numbers screwed up now. But at and T Stadium is big, majestic and crazy that it has cost like a billion dollars and that costs four and a half billion dollars. Jeez, you know everything's expensive there, man, a lot more expensive than it is here. Seventy four degrees
at kickoff, over four billion dollars versus. Yeah, I don't know. It looks amazing though. It was good, and you know the crowd was gonna be like a lot of cowboys fans there. You heard them, You definitely heard them early. There's a little bit of a scuffle before the game. Yeah, they did get us the Dak Prescott Kellen Moore, Hug. I just saw that that was midwalk on the dog walk, and I got your text, so I did not see that it was shal long long and
it appeared to be a big thing. Yeah. Did it look like Dak had a longing in his eyes for days gone by? Yeah? Did you have a longing stare. There was like whispering again, dude, you don't even know, no, you know, actually you do know, you dudo God, But I don't know. Maybe Dak's fine, how do? I thought Dak's pretty good last night, outside of one misthrow early that was just so bad. He threw a beauty into triple coverage that Gallup should have caught.
Oh the touchdown job, Yes, yes, I mean I thought Dak was great last night, and I think that one. I think Gallup I thought he was gonna get I thought it was gonna get. I think he thought it was gonna get tipped at the last second. That's my only excuse, because that was a dime and it didn't. Nobody touched the ball. But you know, sometimes you're accounting for a last millisecond tip and you widen your hands a little bit. I don't know, because that was a bad
drop, great throw. I thought that was Dak's best game. There's his best game this year for sure. Yeah. Yeah, the escapability was back finally. We've been waiting on that. Hopefully. I don't know if that somebody can work on or not. No, that is instinctual, but the running, but there was The design run on the touchdown was great fourth and one great call. Of course, it was a great read by Dak. Yes, because it was his option coughed it up he did. I couldn't.
I couldn't believe how fooled I was by that play, considering when they replayed it, how much he showed the ball. Yeah, from pulling the ball away from Pollard, you know, on the on the on the fake, on on the option. But yeah, that was a really smart, smart call on Dak to pull that ball out. Eighteen yard touchdown run,
well designed and well executed. So yes, design runs are great. But the fact that the box score doesn't even show how much that dude was on the run, Oh my gosh, like all night he was always scrambling in and out of the pocket. That longest, the longest play of the game and season, that passed to Pollard, the real short pass. That was really creative. That's a hard one. When you're approaching line of scrimmage.
You've thought, all right, I'm gonna run, Oh no, I got this, and to throw it across your body even if it's a short pass, you know, and then Pollard exploded and got most of the yards himself, but very creative decision making. In a split second. I wrote this, I wrote this down and I'll say it here. But I thought that
that second drive of the Cowboys, which the first one was horrible. He had two runs for five yards and a sack and a punt, But that second drive of the Cowboys, that was the probably the most uncowboy like and and most creative play calling and execution that we've seen from them all season. On that on that that second drive, offensive drive, there was a lot in there to like, and there was a lot in there that I felt
was somewhat different than what we'd been used to. And I felt like McCarthy may have, I don't know, may may have tried to compete a little bit with the narrative, the narrative that's been out there about him versus Kellen, to show what I can do creative stuff too. I kind of got that feeling the whole game. Yeah, both teams had a situation where no one could run the ball, so there was getting no help there. Shocking
almost on both sides. I think I was run defense was awesome, but dude, Pollard had nowhere to go seven yards as long as runt of the game that got sacked how many times? Four, five, five times? And yeah, man, that's the number one takeaway is that you can't protect your passer. And I don't know we've mentioned this before, but is this
offensive line basically living off of their past reputation because is they're older? Right, the three key guys that we like are not, you know, two guys, Tyron and Zach Martin. Yeah, sure, but Tyler is awesome and young is good, but hurt something's up with him. Yea has got a bad ankle going on, and he was bad last night. Yeah, he wasn't great, but I think he's He's solid, Yeah, leg average,
he's good enough. It just seems like you have that window, if you have a good offensive line, you have a certain amount of time to get the job done. And I feel like we're definitely on the back end of that group being a dominant a dominant force, and I feel like they're at some point they're going to have to start replenishing that and spending either a lot of money or high draft picks on reinforcing that offensive line or reinventing that
offensive line. And by that time, you just wonder, has DA's window passed. I don't know. It's just something that I don't know. Yeah, but I think they do prioritize replenishing via the draft the offensive line, and that's an excellent team policy. But yeah, I mean it gets sacked five times and have no success rushing, I mean almost none of it. It could have been ten sacks without that getting out of a bunch. Yes,
and I I know I was watching everything happen with the offense. Yes, you're right on that first drive or second drive, I guess it was. I'm still having big problems with why are we just always running the ball? I felt like we read the ball in first down a million times. I felt like, I do I need to find out what the number was for that because there was a lot of doing this to yourself for both teams, just doing it to yourself. Well, if you like second and eight,
do the same thing. Run the ball right at the middle again. One thing McCarthy said after the game was they knew that because the Chargers defensive ends were wise and mac were wide, so it was really easy to kind of game plan that, and they kind of knew Dak would be you have to use his feet a little more. They say, wanted to maintain those gaps. That's why they kept running it up the middle. Yeah, but what's the end game benefit there? You know, it's not like you ever
really benefited from keeping the ends wide. No. I mean the things they did that were good were get cd lamb, the ball a bunch and ceedee lamb. A lot of that. Just watching it is a guy getting oput on his own. I'm not I swear I'm not doing a McCarthy thing. I'm not. Okay, there's not you can't. Couldn't watch last night's game and go I would rather have Killen than McCarthy. Maybe you could do that, But if you're just in a vacuum that one game, no one jumps
out at you of who you'd rather have. My point is they're just watching the offense and trying to figure out what it is and what they're trying to do. There was a lot of getting ouput on his own. The stuff that was designed was like a jet sweep to cooks for twelve yards in the fourth quarter and things like that. The other stuff that happened in the offense was that creating on his own. And that's fine to an extent, but you're gonna need a little bit more. I saw a pretty good explanation for
what the Cowboys offense is trying to do. It's gonna say, you know, it's account. I follow. It's a Cowboys stats and graphics or whatever. Pretty good account if you want to see that stuff. Basically, what McCarthy wants to do control time possession, which we talked about yesterday. But everything is based on conversion success of how when you have the ball, and that just that is asking you to be perfect all game long, and that's
not realistic in the NFL, and they need more than that. What's the best way to achieve perfection, and that is to run a low risk scheme. Yes, and that's what he does, which is not how I think you could score thirty and forty points, you know which, if it is lean on your defense, which he says it is, then what he's tried to do a ball control, be perfect on offense way. I think it's a great way to play offense in two thousand and two. I don't know
that it is now. I really don't, but worked last night. I don't know. Man, you gotta buye a week figure some things out. Rams and Eagles coming up. I wish we knew more about this team. It's gonna be November before we know anything about them. It really is. Because the Rams can play the Cowboys tough. Yeahs are all right, And I think you know a lot about this team. Actually you ain't. They're good enough to make the playoffs and get beat early in the playoffs. I
do. I mean they're the what fourth best record in the NFC right now. I think they're good enough to smush really bad teams and get smashed once by a really bad team, and get smashed by a really good team and then play pretty much an even football game with a team that's about as good as they are, right, But we don't know if they can beat a good team exactly. So far, the answer is no. Well, the pill is home with Offense and defense are maddening, and that's where the show
aspect of it comes into play. On both side, it always goes to McCarthy. I mean, what about the pre snap, well, the defensive penalties, the personnel issues on defense having twelve men on the field and having to burn a time out for that, about another lining up in the neutral zone to another two weeks Mikah this time. B oh no, it was on. It was it was damn it. Who was that on? Dante Fower Yeah, Dante fank j Yeah, Mike at it too. They had
one later on. Yeah. Yeah. That stuff is like, okay, well we're gonna scream at dan quinn, we probably should if we're gonna get mad at McCarthy every time something happens on offense, well okay, at all though, it's like, well, that's not good. That's not something that I see happen to the forty nine ers a lot when we watched them every week. Think their teams perfect and there's god, we know there are more penalties than ever last night, but I kind of walked away from that game
looking at all that stuff going. They're kind I did not good in that area. Just the little things not good. But man, they made Justin Herbert look so uncomfortable all night long, and they only finally got to him. I think was there one sack or two sacks and Micah was one of them right at the end. Ye keep it, dude. Herbert looked like he was do doing his pants. Yeah, he was nervous. He didn't even want to sling his arm through, you know, he out of him.
I couldn't believe he only had thirty thirty seven thousand dollars in his so far checking account. I mean he's an NFL player. Yeah, yeah, I think Herbert's good for sure, but yeah he was. He was rattled to the point where he missed throws that he normally makes. And there was a bad was it Allen that deep left ball? Good? Lord? Yeah? Two that were just yeah, that are I mean that one maybe is a touchdown? Yeah. Well, the defense played good. Cowboys, they
played pretty good. I think he did too. I mean, Eckler's tough and he was coming back and they they did to him what the Chargers did to uh Tony de Marcus. Lawrence was good and he was really good. And Osa is flashing all the time, just consistent, like that's that's there he is And if they that's what they want the strength of their team to be, right is that defensive line. And first of all, drun playing
dropped that interception. It's like, oh my god, the guy that gets it thrown like he has more him and Traymon Diggs he had a ton of interceptions and he dropped it. But Stepan Gilmore even catching that was a tough catch on that interception. They could have had a fourth down after that at the end, like, there we go, good play cornerback, you can catch. This is great? You know you have that. So I almost took there will be visible blood, that's one of my predictions. And Gilmore
had bloodshin Yeah he had purple blood too. Yeah, I wasn't even red. Once we saw the white on white and the white pants, I thought, I bet all but barf is in play. Visible blood is in play. I bet all of us were wishing we had a predicted Marquise Bell would have been the start of the defense because that would have been number one unlikely and number two, Wow, that was a great roun. Stuff was badass. He does not look like he should be big enough to do what he's
doing. Yeah, well they say he's two eighteen, is he really? That's what That's what they said. Goy, he looks like he's about a buck ninety five man. He's a perfect type of guy to have too with a team like the Chargers have Eckler, and you can go cover Eckler because the two hundred and forty pound Vandersch type. You know that m might not go. Well, you're a guy like Kim who is more of a coverage type of dude, it will tackle perfect for Eckler because they brought in guys
like him. I mean they were calling up linebackers and trying outlinebackers all week to try to get another body in there. Marquis Bell was their best run defender yesterday. Man, as they say in practice, he's always popping people. So that's cool. I like watching him. Man. That made the
second half fun. That second half was messy and sloppy. That's one thing, you know, we talked about going from you know, such the wild roller coaster ride of the Ranger game and how elated we probably felt after that ended the way it did, and then you get the thirty minute walk your dog break and then come back to a Cowboys game. I was so dreading the Mike McCarthy methodical Texas Coast offense and just being like basically falling asleep by
halftime. But that first half was wild ass football on both sides. So at least we were, you know, engaged enough to get to halftime, and then the second half it was just kind of riding it out, just watching two teams play pretty sloppy? Do you think that'll unlocked ac running? And that was his first rushing touchdown since Week eight of twenty twenty two, And it's night and day man. When people respect him cutting out, it freeze up so damn much like it has to be part of the plan,
even if it's one or two design runs per per game. And is he are they reluctant to do it or is he reluctant to do it or a combination of both? Could we both? I think they were forced to do it too, because they can't run the ball at all. Yeah normally. I mean if they were having any success in the run game with Tony Pollard, yeah, I think they would gucky. We don't have to. I mean they know you're going to pass. Because was that touchdown his only design
run? I think it was. I think it was his only designed run. I think everything else was scrambling out and things like that, which he had to do because if he just sits in the pocket on that, like we said, he does take more than five sacks. Yeah, he was the second least sacked quarterback in football heading into the game. It's probably changed now after getting sacked five times, but there's a lot of him getting out of it and doing it, and there were a lot of close plays.
But that's the whole thing, he says. Josh Allen's not the fastest guy. He's pretty fast. He's the fastest guy. Uh, but he gets out of a lot of stuff. He's way faster than deck I think. Yeah, oh, no doubt that looks lumbering he does. Even when he runs, it does not look there's a bit slow. There's a distinction between
you know, Josh Allen obviously Mahomes. But even when Dak is trying to make his first step to move in the pocket or to escape pressure, he just looks like that first step just takes him longer than it does a lot of other quarterbacks like Unhook the trailer, big Dog. Yep, you know something I looked up real quick. I was staring at Tony Poller's neck thing. Yeah, the do you know what that is? The Is it the hydration thing that you have in summer when you put the thing behind your neck?
Yeah, yes, that's what I thought it was. You've seen it. It looks like a little star trek thing he kind of wears. Yeah, it's called a Q collar. Any idea. So is that Does he take it off and you can like scan your newspaper and look up artistles on the internet? Yeah, I can get digital news, but you wear it around your neck right into his brain the latest DINGU morning news stories. No, it's a simple, safe device that applies light pressure to the jugular veins.
What this pressure causes a slight increase of blood volume inside the head and helps reduce the brain's movement upon impact, which is the primary cause of brain injury. WHOA like it goes down and puts a little bit of pressure on his jugular to I guess keep more blood in the brain or in the head. That helps you just a little bit when you take big headshots. No idea. I thought it always looked cool, you know, But I'm like, what is that damn thing? You see a couple guys with that?
Now I think about it, isn't that interesting? That's very interesting? Yeah, So he's playing an entire football game with no blood below the neck, just going through the first guy in league history light choking. Well, then I'm like, okay, so that's let's blood to the blood of the heart and lungs. Like, I don't know, you know, well, those nineties cowboys had a lot of blood going and below the neck. It'll yeah, yeah, yeah, uh to give up joke you call? Hey,
what more of this game? At eight will take a look at our three predictions each as we told you what would happen in the game last night. See how we did so we can get some more points on the board there. Get in a little bit of that at eight o'clock. An update on the state for shooting at seven thirty. But coming up next, they have done it. Oh my god, the Rangers. I think I wrote a formal teach to this guys, isn't gonna go ahead and do it? The
number on Hedgy's ass is down to six. The Rangers have shocked the world. We'll break down all the good stuff from game two next on ninety seven won the Freak
