Transcript

We're listening to the downbeat on ninety seven to one. This week, big, big, big, exclusive explosive audio coming up here in just a matter of moments where we have acquired a kind of secret recording of the booth, the broadcast booth for NFL on CBS. The reason we're doing this it's twofold producer Buddy of ours that works for them send us some audio of some in

game stuff that I kind of missed when I initially watched the broadcast. But one particular clip that happened was supposed to be off mike, not for the public to hear. But this audio is leaked of nance and romo from the Chiefs Ravens AFC Championship game, and it's gonna get out there anyway, but he let it land in our laps and we will be the absolute first to

play this audio. You don't want to miss this. It's coming up in about ten minutes when we this exclusive groundbreaking audio, groundbreaking, groundbreaking indeed, uh huh, We're gonna break so much ground in ten minutes. For that though, let's talk about some stuff we've been watching. Yeah, time for lights, camera a holes, time time Josh and so can we start with the one that we were all watching, Yeah, separately yet together the other

day. Yes, mister and missus Smith Amazon Prime Ding. You told me about it somehow, and I did. I'm gonna fog of all the shows, right, I don't even know when stuff comes out like this was big and the cast is big and there's guest stars galore. I'd never knew it was coming. Got promoted quite a bit on NFL games really Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's where I first saw it, and I was like, I don't know if I'm gonna watch that, But then, dude, it's

got Glover in it, and I'm not. There's nothing to apologize for. I will watch anything that dude does, listen to anything he records sight unseen. Yeah. Yeah, Donald Glover is not gonna do something bad. No, he does will be top notch quality. Atlanta is one of the great TV shows of our time that I think a lot of people slept on honestly

don't. And it's incredible. Yeah, it really is. I guess when he was approached to do this, Donald Glover, his original answer was, I don't really do remakes, you know, because most people think of Angelina and Brad when you think of mister mister Smith, which I thought was a good movie if I remember, I probably saw it once. And then that movie is more known about, you know, the divorce with Jennifer Aniston, you know than Oh is that right? Is that what led to the everyone?

Yeah, that's the speculation, right, Yeah, but that's why that movie is like in a lot of people's memory in the entertainment world. But like the way that movie was fine, what does buy or something? Okay, I felt like he said to be doing a remake of it on a TV show like that was like I felt like, not too long ago. What was mister mister Smith the movie? So yeah, that's mine? Well, yeah, I didn't. It's an intriguing idea, I guess for a

movie or a show. But I'm totally with you when you say, uh, Don Glover, who famously said he was in high school when he realized his name Don Glover is Don Lover. That's why he goes by the more formal Donald Donald go the full or just childish gambino, Yes, yeah, just get away from it completely. So he and Maya Erskine are from Penis No pen fifteen? Is that right? Yes, I've never seen her do anything before. Have you seen pen fifteen? No? Good? Really?

Yeah? Your scat scene? No? Is that in Penn fifteen? Oh yeah, we'll let us see that. I don't need no, I don't see that. Well. We came in last week and Danny was like, I watched the first episode or two, and you dig it. I loved it. I absolutely loved it. I went through the whole series in two or three days. I believe. I think you guys pretty much followed suit. You knocked out the whole sum bitch and one day, didn't you?

Miss Christina and I did the incredibly rare entire run eight episodes, so eight hours. They were in one day. Some of them are forty five fifty two. We did it last Friday. You know, she gets done at two o'clock. I don't know if she gets at my house by five or something. What was that? Six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve one. Yeah. Took it to midnight? Yeah,

and I went six to midnight. I want six to midnight. I was hammered because we just sat there and drank and watched mister and Missus Smith. So by the time I got to the end of it, I was like It was a lot, and I don't reckon even as good as a show as this is, which it is, I don't recommend that for any show. It was too much enjoy it. Did you do two hours? Were you on a mission or were you no? Did you just get to the end of one and go, oh my god, I can't wait to see

what happens? Yes, yeah, and then we got to it was like eleven o'clock or this is clearly what we're doing. We have two left. It's like you run the five k and you get to the three mile mark and you're like, well, surely I can run just to the end here, you can get this other point five in there. So I don't really recommend doing how we did it, but we did it because it was great. Is there chemistry in their relationship in this series? So good? The

way those two those two on screen together are incredible. Yeah. And it's a real intriguing way they did it how they came together, because I don't remember in the movie how they came together, but they're sort of a computerized thing where they're kind of doing an interview and the next thing you know, they're hello. You watch them like meet each other and go from there as a married couple that obviously was forced to kind of be together, and I

don't know, there's just a lot of layers on it. And then the other couples who were also work for the same thing to the same mister and missus Smith company, and they you don't even know how legit it is. And then they're in the Italian Alps or Swiss Alps and there's like a full James Bond ski slope episode, which is always fun. I love action on snowy mountains. I really liked it all. I got through two okay, but even the opening scene, which involves no characters that are in the show,

there's enough to intrigue you. Well. That's one thing about this show too, is the shockingly high profile celebrity cameos that they get Amazon money. It's incredible. I was. I mean, I don't want to give any giveaway anything, but none of them carry over to other episodes. It's got a new mission each episode, yes or two. Yeah, because we were we were just wishing to pace ourselves. Yeah, there's more. There's a lot more celebrity cameos to come, and it's it's really fun, man,

Yeah, really fun, it's a fun ride. It's it's a spy show. It's espionage, it's assassinations, it's all of that. What you what you want from a show like that, But the way it's couched is I don't know, man, there's just something unique about it. I was very surprised when I when I watched it. But the star of the show is the chemistry between the two mains. I just love I love them together in this good one for you and the lady. If you're if you're unsure what

you're watching, throw that one in real quick. So y'all, did y'all ever watch the show? Fleabag loved it, so she was going to be in the role of Maya Erskin, and seeing how good Donald Glover was with my Erskin, I'm like, I'm glad that it wasn't that's and she left because of creative differences, and I don't know if that was with the studio. I don't know if that was with Donald Glover. I don't know. But so she left and they brought in my Erskin and it's just perfect with

her. I mean, you're right, it's it's amazing. It's those things you understand until you see it happening and you go, Yep, that works. They could be doing nothing and you're like intrigued by it. Yeah, and that's Phoebe waller Bridge. Yeah, and I find her shockingly hot, so very uniquely hot and very good. Yeah, and pretty much everything. Uh, what else you want to want me to hit Griselda? Have either one of you two jumped in on that. I watched the first episode,

okay, JJ and I both finished it. If you are fans of Narcos Narcos Mexico, it is made by the creators of that. It is not as good as either one of those. It's not. It's a little bit watered down. But if you need to get your Narcos fix, it's a great story. It's limited. It's one one series. They're not you know, there's no way to expand this to you know, a season two or anything like that. But it's essentially the story of Griselda Blanco, who was

a member of the cartel. She was married to a guy that worked for the Mediane cartel, and it's basically the story of her moving to Miami and starting from scratch and essentially bringing cocaine to Miami in the way that we know in the way that it got its reputation. She was directly responsible for marketing cocaine and mediine and she became the most powerful dealer. She was the godmother, she was the cocaine queen. And the main character is played by Sophia

Vigara. Wow star. She crushes this role and is by and large unrecognizable as the Sophia Agara that we all know. Yeah, you don't even recognize her. It's pretty incredible that not only did they do whatever they did with makeup wardrobe to disguise the Sophia Vergara that we love, this is a different character, man, and she owns it. She is a battie in this What did you think? JJ? You liked it? Right? Yeah? I did. I did what Stroy and them did. I knocked it out.

It's only six episodes, so I knocked it out in the day. Yeah. And if I don't know people are like Sophia Rigara really because I didn't take her seriously as an actress. I mean, you know her from min her family. She does a lot of goofy star. She's got that heavy accent. But she's really gonna turning heads in this in this show, Yeah, she is amazing. I think she. I mean, it's early,

but I wouldnt be surprised to see Emmy Emmy no for her. You've if you've seen the documentaries, the Cocaine Cowboys documentaries, her trajectory is illustrated quite well in that that series. But one thing I like doing in these is after an episode, I will get out the Wikipedia page on these characters and I will fact check them. They get it right, man, they got it right Narcos. They got it right in Narcos Mexico, like all

that stuff tracks and I love that about about that that franchise. Before the very first shot in the first episode, there's just a quote from Pablo Escobar that says, the only man I ever feared was a woman, Griselda Blanco. This is a cool way to start the thing and pure evil, absolutely because after the first episode, I don't know, I don't, I don't see that yet. You know, she's trying to escape some things and then

maybe falls into it or uses ambition, who knows. I know they did real Griselda favor with the casting of Sophia Virgara because they she does not look like that. No, no, no, no, And I don't think there's anything you could do to Sophia Megara. Yeah, I mean there there's only there's only so much monstering you can do, you know, to get somebody to look like the actual person. But as far as I mean it,

it it does not look like Sophia Bagara. I don't know what they did, but it's I don't they use prosthetics or makeup or definitely prosthetics to see where they are? Yeah, well done, Yeah, all right, I'm gonna keep cramming on that. Yep, kram it, damn it quickly. You did the NASCAR and the name for our TV segment, kram it, damn it. I'll watch you on Netflix. They have a it's called NASCAR Full Speed. It's sort of their version of the F one Drive to

Survive thing. It's shorter and I knocked that bad boy out too, and I'm a sucker for any Netflix sports show. And it was really damn good. I don't know if it'll quite have the impact that Full Speed had on F one in America, which is like NASCAR has already got a pretty decent foothme. Yeah, but it was really good. And uh, it's only I think five episodes or so, and they started sort of when the play NASCAR playoffs start and they focus on the drivers that made the playoffs and how

they whittle those down from whatever twelve to eight and then to four. And I have kind of the showdown at the end, but it is all access behind the scenes and very very good. I'll say that I didn't realize how rich Danny Hamlin was because they're his house and he's out by his infinity pool and he's you know, contemplating, Oh, the playoffs are coming up and

we have to win my first championship. And then he has to go to work and on this gorgeous lake, he has this giant boat on a dock, and then a helicopter flies in and lands on top of where the boat dock is and he goes out there and heads to work and he's like eight miles away from the shop. You know, there's no driving though, just fly the chopper. It's really cool. Plus, Deny Hamlin is a team

owner as well as a driver for a different team. It's kind of weird, like he drives for Joe Gibbs Racing, but he's also owns his own team. Co owns his team with Michael Jordan, who's in the thing a decent amount. I thought it was great. I thought it was really good. I mean I like racing in all forms, So to have some insight and some deep dive into what goes on behind the scenes, I think is really cool. Unique. If you like Nascar it all, you like it.

But if you did like full or the F one show, real easy, watch here too. I'm gonna do it. Yeah, I know, it's cool, it's cool, it goes asked, and then this is obviously something they will do a season two and I would imagine they're going to do it for the NASCAR playoffs every year with different drivers, depending on who makes it and who they focus on. And yeah, really good. We'll swing

back in March March sixth month away coming back soon. Yes, yes, with the Netflix tapped in on something, didn't they They're getting into sports, yeah, and gaming, but I mean they're doing it well, they're doing it really. I love both Full Swing and the F one series. Wake Up. I know when are they going to do it? When are they going to allow access? They never will because it's the bullpen. They're all farting on each other like each other's farts on fire. They need to,

they need to. Let's do it. Let's do it, all right, Okay, I'm kind of excited about this. I'm a little nervous about it too, because this is an audio premiere. This is a a freak downbeat premiere. We have a producer Buddy that works for NFL on CBS, and he got a hold or acquired some tape of Nance and Romo in the booth.

This occurred during the AFC Championship game. You've got the Chiefs playing in Baltimore, and two of these clips are just the normal game you know, broadcast of those two guys is what you would have heard on the air. It sounds a little differently because it's from a recorder that is set up inside the booth, so it's not like the super high fidelity stuff that you would

hear on TV. It's from a smaller microphone that's just in the booth that they run all the time to capture for whatever posterity, for a review purposes or whatever. But anyway, he cut this tape up and sent this to me, and this is apparently going to be released later today. It will undoubtedly go viral. But he gave it to us because we've all got long relationships with this guy and he wanted us to have it first. So this is the first clip. Now, look, I'm if it's not the Cowboys.

I love the NFL, like watching the games. But look, if it's not the Cowboys, I don't care how big the game it is. I am gonna be twittering and looking on my phone or thinking about something else, mind wandering. It's just the nature of, you know, the way I consume these sports. So there's some stuff that I missed. All right, I don't remember this happening, but apparently nobody brought this up to me either. But this is just a real short clip of NaNs and Romo on

the air. This is the audio from the booth. Here we go, JJ, We're back at MNC Stadium, a historical matchup here today. Ten for ten in the first quarter, my Homes has the best start in an AFC Championship game in history. Tell me, what are you seeing so far from my Homes today? That's making him so efficient? Oh? Hell yet, Jim, I can't lie though. I don't remember any of the first

half or the first quarter. I'm sorry. I I was too busy thinking about I'm a tie, absolutely love the city of Baltimore, you know, just loving here. You can't compare. I mean, have you ever seen the Wire, Jim? I mean a boat Portsdill moving all that sweet sweet weight. And the funny part was that it took McNulty forever a catch him. I mean, come on, Jim, God, I love cocaine. Right, you all like Tony first to ten from the Ravens thirty five?

Wow? Huh, but that was during the broadcast. I know that was way over the air. How do you miss that? I don't know all big fans of the Wire, like you think we'd have the drop of him screaming I love cocaine. I'd be bigger news, incredible. I don't remember that at all at all. CBS able to just silence that for a minute.

Maybe that's what it was, you know, maybe they that makes sense, They just kind of Maybe there's times where you hear those long spaces and TV they're able to do this where they can, you know, because the game's happening. You don't need play by play of every moment, just go nats up. Maybe they've gotten to the point now where they met Tony's mic, like half the time. Half the time, Yeah, a lot of the time. But this ended up catching it in the booth crazy. Here's

another clip of this. I did not hear this over the air, but apparently it happened, followed by three back to back episodes of Yellowstone only on CBS. I mean, but honestly, who are we kidding? Everyone's gonna switch over and watch the forty nine ers in lines on Fox and Jesus Christ, can you blame him Tony? Oh hell not, Jim. That show is trash. He costor hasn't done anything worth the turks. It's the bodyguard and the only thing that made that thing. Watch the bulls stare at when

he Uston's ask for two hours. Jim, can you believe that much cocaine and Bobby Brown used to do? I haven't done that much cocaine since I fubbled that snap against Seattle in two thousand and six. Cocaine's the best. Jim and Kelsey were the first down a stunning acrobatic catch on a third and law who knew catch by Kelsey? Think of it? Yeah? Acrobatic, acrobatic. And then here's the one that we've all been waiting for. Okay. In this clip, this is something that I think happened during a Booth

review or a New York review. And sometimes they'll go away and they'll mute their mics and let the what's going on on the field happen. But this captured. This was supposed to be private conversation, oh, between Nance and Romo. And you'll hear it at the end where Nance will throw it to break, where they come out of whatever the TV package is running. This is secret audio of Nance and Romo, not meant for air, but captured forever the premiere right here on the downbeat, Tony, I gotta be honest

with you if that seemed a bit sluggish today. I was a pretty late last night at a bar in Mount Vernon, having a couple of drinks. You know, no big deal, everything seems fine, And next thing you know, I'm back at this high rise at Penn Station making out with this guy named Bruce wearing designers chap's a dim vest with little penises stitched all over,

high as hell on Mollie until five this morning. And I'll tell you what, Tony must have written that cowboyl night ball because I can't feel a damn thing from the waist Down. Oh hell yeah, Jim, I was wondering where you went for production me today you already pastered you. Is there anything I can do to help you out? Jim? Well, I'll let you mention it. Can I have some of that sweet sweet cocaine you're always going on about Tony. Hell yeah, Jim, it's cocaine. It's happening

today. Let's go all right, quick message from State Farm will be back in sixty seconds. I don't know Jake from State Farm, but wow, my homes. Wow, they were doing cocaine in the booth and I thought Romo is kind of the wild man. But Nance, who knew? Nance's night out? Good lord. I can't feel the thing for the waist down with Bruce because of Bruce. And you could tell Roe was fired up right there. Oh yeah. It's kind of like the moment Tony's been waiting for.

It's like, finally I knew it. He broke bad. I knew that's why you weren't at the production. He calling me horny bastard. Yeah, wow, Geez makes me more excited for the super Bowl. Knowing that those two are gonna be in the boot if they're fine. I don't even know if they will after that breaks today and that audio is gonna be well. You heard it here first on the down beat, your viral downbeat. That's all right, that's again, once again, we can't escape it.

Thanks to our friend over it, our unnamed friend over it. Yeah, our good friend over at CBS, Aaron. Yeah, thanks for that audio. All right, hot mop, hot mom do we don't get the birthdays and I'm checking in the people are leaving so many good voice messages from the red microphone button on the iHeartRadio apps in KRAB. I love it. We'll do it all next
