Transcript

You're listening to the down beats. I'm ninety seven to one the break, all right, it's a down beat. One segment left, Ben Skin, Christina, Steve Mustering and can get you from ten to two and then to speak easy. This afternoon, it's ninety seven Won the freak Man. It's fun, live local laughs and Dallas Fort Worth. We appreciate you listen. We're gonna get to some talkbacks, and I think Kevo has got birthdays,

all sorts of fun stuff still for this segment. But first off, we got a hot movie coming out, and as usual, our sweet JJ Jackson has seen it already. It's JJ on Air. Is all of her YouTube and stuff. We'd love you to follow any of that. She is one of the best movie reviewers in town. And since you're not gonna damn be here, she's going to Boston on a mystery trip that you will not reveal much more information about. I want to ask you today this morning Civil War.

This is a twenty four. This is Kirsten Dunst. This comes out Friday Friday, Okay, say night. If you're that type of person, Yeah, yeah, and you've seen it already and intriguing for multiple reasons. The one sentenced synopsis is a team of journalists who travel across the United States during a rapidly escalating Second American Civil War, which has engulfed the entire nation. Yes, so this dystopian type film, which very much so usually when

you hear the word dystoping, you're thinking future alien type monster. It felt very much like today, a couple of years from now. Yeah. Uh yeah, it's this was one of the films that it didn't really pick my interest when I heard about it saw I was like, oh, okay, cool, But it had so much buzz at South By Southwest last last month that I was like, Okay, I gotta let me dive into this, Let's see what this is really about. It. Yeah, that's basically.

I mean, you're you've got a United States that's divided Texas and California twin alliances called the Western Front to and their mission is to, you know, just bring down the White House. And these journalists who are war journalists there,

they're capturing these moments. They're in the middle of it. So they're trying to get to the President before the Western Front gets there, because you know, with them, once the rest of Front gets there it's over, so there is just following these journalists and you're really seeing And I posted this on my on my Twitter, on my ex it stayed on the area you're really getting an understanding and awakening of what a war journalist does, like they're

really it's into like it's it's very honest, and I love that in this story with Kirsten Duntz. But I mean, it's a great film. I saw on an Imax, so it was really Usually with Imax it's more a lot of people think more visually than anything. But I think with the Imax element to it, it was more of the sound the sound effects to it, because it felt like I was like right in the middle of with all

the guns and the and the bombs going off. I was like, oh, like I jumped a few times, like oh my goodness, Like this is like scary. But I love the film. I thought the last thirty minute of it was like worthwhile, Like that's it was like the icing on the cake of everything. Because I mean for some people maybe they think it's a little slow, just because it's a journey, so you're following them, you know, as I mean, it's intense. The whole time, because

you know, they're in a war zone. But man, the last thirty to forty minutes was like, who great, I mean it was, yeah, it was. It was heavy. It's ninety four percent on Rotten Rotten Tom. Yeah, it's one. It's an hour and forty minutes. Yeah, I love that part of it. Yeah it might yeah, it might have been. Is it hour for I saw someone talk about that they're like to do a movie that deep and and not get it done in two hours, but I have one might yeah. Yeah, but I felt the same

way. I thought, like gimmicky. And then I saw the trailer before Bottle Rocket with Ben and Skin a few months ago and went, Okay, it's Nick Offerman and it's President the President. Yeah, you know, and I have to say, man, I always love President. It's just President. I don't think they They might have given a name, but it was like the United States is casting credit. Yeah, I don't have to say. Man. Jesse Plemans he was in that movie for maybe ten minutes,

and that completely changed the tone of the film. He is unnamed soldier. The film was already like heavy, like intense your seat, but when he came in and who he was playing and what he was representing. It was like trailor real. That's the biggest part of the trailer. Is only a small part of the film. He's only in the movie for maybe two minutes, and he was just like completely changed kind of American. Yeah, he completely changed the tone he was acting right there. Yeah, down playing.

So no spoilers, but Texas spoiler free girl, Texas, California, the Western Alliance. California is the good guys. No, well about the Florida Lions. It's just the Florida swooping and save everything. Yeah, they just mentioned the Florida Alliance. It's not Yeah, they kind of mention it. Yeah, the whole seque will be about them, probably, And I really I cannot wait to see it again, honestly, because it like who's the

good guy, who's the bat? Like what's the reasoning behind, Like what's why they're you know, going up against the Maybe they intentionally kept that nebular to not create a template for the future, Maybe because like in order for that to happen, you're thinking to yourself, what happened, Like why is it that these two states are reigning against the president of the US. And so it's almost like who's good, who's bad. That's the thing is,

no two states could be more diametrically opposed than California and Texas. Did they cover that? Why those two teamed up? They did, like a little like the beginning. Yeah, so you're kind of yeah to keep that movie short? Two hours? Yeah, I can't wait to see this. I want to see it. I may try to go sneak in this weekend Thursday night. Yeah, wait, you have to pay cinema support. Okay, fine, sneaking security yard there he moved. Well, I get you know,

privileges. Well, that's the idea. And I guess any civil war or most any wars that everybody is sure they're on the right side. You look at the camera and say, wait, are we the baddies? Do you see that? No? Like a German soldier, I don't think it's a comedy. He just looks at his friend. Are we the baddies? Stuck in my head, we're the bad ones? Yeah. You're seeing all walks of life of people and people who own businesses that you know they're just

sitting out with the gun, Like what do you like? Everyone is suspicious, like everyone you know, you can't trust anyone because you don't you don't know. So you see people, I mean they just stopped to get some gas and they're like, what do y'all wh what are y'all doing? We just we need gas to get through geta yeah, and it's just everybody's on edge time. I don't want that blood. I don't want how many dumplings? About a four? Okay, about a four? Three and a half

four? I think that last the last thirty minutes was just like whoa all right it was I was and man, it was yeah, that's sound. This is a sound effect. Really, man, it was just loud and heavy and it was civil. I don't know what it's like to be in the middle of a fighting of a battle of guns, but man, it really felt like how loud it was that I was like, cranking, bab I'm an air force, man, I'll listen and see if it sound what it sounds like when everything goes down. You saw action. You're all very

welcome by the way. Civil war comes out this Friday? Did did you mind cranking me up here? Nineteen ninety six is the year boys, Oh next, I'm feeling r in year nineteen ninety six six is it. Uh. Montel Jordan's This is How We Do It. It's a radiohead next instrument please, yes, let's have a little piano and scent there, heart toy there yeah. Wow. It's tough, It's tough, Birthday's fair which Speedbird has got a lot talkbacks for you. Kristen Stewart's thirty three kind of love her? Yeah, yeah, you know she's a massive golfer too. Really yeah, I did not know that she was on last week SmartLess. Ah. Yeah, she's cool. I don't want to hang out and be friends with

that. Hair Mounts always at it. She's always like, yeah, she's not interested in us in that way. Nope, No, not anymore. Jesse McCartney's thirty seven that's pop star from my generation. Was he in a boy band or not? I don't know. I don't think so. I think it's more look it up Gardway of My Chemical Romance thirty seven they had three years of being the biggest band in the world. I wouldn't know them if I heard him. Okay, yeah, I believe that Layton Measter thirty

eight, Layton Measters. She's a hot yeah, like it was like on the O C or something weird. No, she was a gossip girl. Okay, something weird. That's Jay Barrishell forty two. Oh yeah, he's the dude in a lot of movies and all the knocked up in This Is the End. A friend of Seth Rogan's Canadian guy, Albert Hammond Junior forty four, his daddy's Albert Hammond Sr. Very very credit card underreported fast. Yeah, the Strokes made their way. I like the Strokes. I'm not

crapping on them. Made their way in those a bunch of guys. You know we're sloppy. No, Albert Hammond Senior gives Albert hamm and Junior credit card, says go buy all the equipment you and your band need. Meanwhile, the lead singers, Dad, I'm not saying they're a NEPO band, but they are. They are. But they're great and they did their own with it, and they don't deserve to be slandered. For that. Why are you slandering? We're saying fifty. Who is the heart David Biden birthday?

It's fifty the heartbreaker herself. Yes, Jenna Jamison, Wow, wow, the times we've had. She's in horrible shape right now. Yeah. I know, well, Danny like I don't even think she can walk anymore. Yeah, I believe it after some of the bits I've seen. Fiftieth for Jenna Jennison. We live in a world Jenna Jamison is fifty. He's fifty. It is quite seventy when she married to like Tito or te Yeah, yeah, actually yes, after it would have been ninety eight. Talkbacks

brought to you by Advanced Hair Restoration. Kevin, Hey, down beat, it's Larry the dog trainer. Hey, I just want to let you all know I took all my dogs to the dog park yesterday for the eclipse. There's probably about two hundred people there, probably at least one hundred dogs. As soon as totality hit, all the dogs went straight to their owners and stood right by them, all of mine and everybody else's dogs. It was amazing. They were very quiet and still, and as soon as totality broke,

they all went back to doing whatever they were doing. It was amazing. I love you guys. The dogs just to square up interesting, I thought that was something to witness man. Yeah, that's a badass. Let's do their thing. Yeah, and then well it's dark. I need to be by daddy. The hell of daddys got weird. Get back on guard. Let's go play again, let's go sniff some more butts. Cool.

So I actually went to a ChIL during the eclipse today. They closed and let their employees come outside and take a look for you know, the twenty minutes it's for the whole thing to happen. It's pretty cool. They even came out with trays of food afterwards and gave everybody in the parking lot nuggets and sandwiches for the inconvenience. So that's pretty cool. Anyway. I love you guys, love you and good info and interesting and you know, good

management. Yeah, shut down, everyone will enjoy this. And here's some nuggies for the people who didn't get to come in. Good play. And if any other businesses did that, let us know. That's cool. Hello. You can't see me because it's radio, and I can't see you because I'm totally blind. You see. I bought my eclipse glasses off of Taboo, and now not only am I blind, but I suffer from a condition called non twenty four. Because of this, I accidentally woke up in time

to hit the six o'clock hour. Pretty good stuff. Boys, I don't even know what the accident is. Yeah, you don't remember him. Boy, we used to run those ads ad nauseum back in the day. I did lay down for a nap and I was paranoid that I was gonna nap through it. And you got such an ass. It's not like sports where I can then like watch the highlights or go back. You just can you

imagine? Can you imagine if you overslept and missed totality and had to come in here and do four hours with me and Kevin just talking about something. I cried. It was emotional, it was would you been? Do you think you would have gotten defensive? I bet it would't. Y. Yeah,

probably. It sounds like it sucked to me, stupid clops. So if you want the freakish side of me and then turn on the dawn being oh please, little Max roll and sweet k T don't for again, JJ and dany B. The all week day from six to ten that come to marm We're gonna live in again. The talkback song bad? Is that an original? But I like that. We had about one talkback song of the day, not bad at all. Though his voice is kind of cool too.

That could make that man a stare. You guys leave Ricky Martin alone as a fifty two year old man. If it's that visible and it's full attention, good for him, Good for him, because mine doesn't work that way all the time. Good for Ricky, not good for Ricky. Yeah, I agree, that's about Ricky Martin's boner, yeah, which we discussed at eight thirty. I was just thinking recently, I don't have morning Wood

quite as often. Oh no, mine, I come and he used to be all day every morning you wake, you know, bopping into the walls. It's probably morning Wood is probably too tired from evening wink Breakfast boners that didn't take off, didn't breakfast No, at least forgot he too much content. I love breakfast all right, tomorrow morning, don't miss six o'clock breakfast

Boners turns brought to you by Pop Tarts. Hey, So I grew up in like the Manfield Arlington area, and there's a neighborhood called Fanned Farms that I lived in for a long time, and there are just peacocks everywhere, and really they're they're really cool looking. It's awesome to have them just walking around. But I mean, other than them just being really horny all the time and like you know, making their mating calls to the others, it's

it's really delightful to have them around. I mean, if you get past the horniness and the and the banging, I mean, it's it's great. They're beautiful creatures. Love, y'all. Peacocks are beautiful creatures. They fly to every dude. Yeah, past the horniness and the banging this, we're just beautiful creatures. Guys. I was a four minute wear wolf yesterday. Oh and I've already been fired from my job and my wife has asked for a divorce. So, uh, you know this whole theory of oh,

you'd still have to love someone you were wrong, you were wrong. We were concerned about the four minute where we were wrong. You were wrong again. Yeah, sorry, we don't claim that we're often wronged, right, boys, y'all are forgetting there's a certain amount of poor where you can't hide the fact that you won the lottery, like my buddies would instantly know.

First I had the contractors out putting double pain winds in Then they'd get in my pickup truck, look over and see the full tank of gas and notice then that I updated the registration from nineteen ninety seven. Finally, it just it wouldn't be easy to hide, That's all I'm saying. I think he's so on point. If somebody just suddenly covers all their basics organic lemons. Would you do when the lottery limb changing the way you act? Dress new

pair of shoes. Huh yeah, say down beat, I need some help. I'll contact the Soroy industries are not getting back to me. My female well body companion turned into a werewols yesterday during the eclipse and did not turn back. I need some help tracking down. Uh, you can activate the GPS and manually shut her downs where nobody else k kindred. Thank you, Thank you guys, You're doing great. Weird industry is slam busy working on in pre production for seven Kevins, or upcoming feature film. No look,

once you buy something, it's written right there in the fine print. Yeah, diamond teeth right there on fine print. After you purchase something, do not contact Roy Industries never ever. Simple. Yesterday you had to talk back about the Samurai Indicator, and I know that guy that did left that talkback so that he was a pretty heavy set guy. We may have to cross over weight classes because our Katana guy out here in Henderson County is a slim

dude. But I'm thinking we've got to get the Corona Light Samurai Knight going because so if we can make that happen, thanks guys, Okay, if we can make that happens for Corona Night's yeah, Samurai Knight. As a decently biologically and medically educated person, I laughed at first, but then I thought, we're just organisms on a rock. We based our calendar on rocks floating and nothing miss. So why does our ability to be birthed happen once

a month? It's pretty weird. You might be on something, Kevo, Thank you boy. A lot of indication from my moon period theory. One text little known fact women's menstruation cycles only occur due to the avitational pool of the moon. Spitting knowledge, Kevin spitting knowledge. Oh boys, y'allre on one today got me slapping their knees and laughing hard man. Okay, there we go. Hey, if y'all want begins, I think there'd be signs like, hey, was that Simon that just went by me in a limousine?
