This is the downbeat on ninety seven to one the freak. I haven't seen official word from MAVs operatives, but also you know, I don't know, so I haven't looked for this, but according to the NBS NBA dot com website, Mavericks Clippers game one will be Sunday. In fact, I can verify with a Mark Followell tweet. Yes, time still to be determined, but Mavericks Clippers will be. Game one will be Sunday, So that hopefully
good Sunday afternoon game. I like that way more than the Sunday late night you're gonna be in Italy, you're gonna watch will be seven hours, yeah something, Yeah, I'll watch. Well, those nine thirty pm games that you run into playoff times good six thirty am sports watching in Italy to I just remember we were in Bologna and we did that, watch a MAVs playoff game in the kitchen of an airbnb on Cash's laptop. I'll tell you it's
sports on TV. Hard to find when you're there, I assumed because we got there for a master's Sunday and I was like, dude, there'll be a bar or something, and we couldn't find Jack YouTube TV didn't work. Nothing works the way that it does here. Oh, No, Cash had to do some shady we couldn't get. I had the Master's on my phone a little bit, but it wasn't coming in very well. And yeah, we had to get some shady sight on his on his laptops. We'd watch
MAVs. You might be out of luck there. I'm kind of insane that The Masters wouldn't be televised in Francesco Mullinari in the field, in the hunt, speaking of Kevin underrated deadly animal of the Atlantic, the box jellyfish. You don't hear about those much because if you're just floating out there and you're like, I'm okay, I'm okay, Yeah it's cold, but I'm okay, it might be jellyfish. They get you just a swarm, just stinging, stinging, and then the clock has started. Once you get stung a
couple of times. Well, the box jellyfish just something you haven't thought up. I mean, you've thought of stonefish obviously, puffer fish like poisonous fish, and clearly great whites and tiger sharks, bull sharks, I mean everywhere they say and as tempted as you will be when you're on your flotation device. You're gonna get thirsty. Don't drink the sea water. I know it's tempting, but don't drink it. Don't drink it. It'll be worse for
you than just avoiding water altogether. And that's if you're lucky enough to find a raft or a room on a raft for you. I mean, if the plane, if you even survive the impact of the plane when it crashes into the sea. Planes are designed not to nose dives, so it's not like nose dive, but you'll know, you know, you'll feel it and know. And I think that's when I will just calmly take a deep breath and then smash my headmultiple times against the knock yourself out. Yeah, and
just go ahead and call it quits. You guess castaway? I mean's that's that is a brutal scene. Think about this though made If he made it, he's the only one, right. If you get marooned on a secret Atlantic island, think of the shape that you're going to be in when you're done just eating nothing but fish. You're gonna be lean and berries. And Arthur's a Brookshields type but eighteen plus. Yeah, yeah, definitely of age, and it'll be your blue lagoon. Also, watch out for the blue
ringed octopus. A single blue ring octopus can kill it up to twenty six human. I'm not going to watch out for any of them. We're helping Kevin prepare for his big Italy trip. Yeah, tomorrow night he's flying to Italy. You're just thinking that you're going to be aware of so many more things that are dangerous to you while you're bobbing. That's good bobbing. And maybe tomorrow I'll give you the Jaws Uss Indianapolis speech to pump you up.
Eleven hundred men did go into the water that day. Three hundred and sixteen men came out in June the twenty ninth, nineteen forty five. Blue rang the octopus, box of jellyfish. Put them on your list. Someone showed me a map, Yeah, with sea dragons, they said, hydras said, don't worry about buying insurance. Cavo. I don't think that's what it looks like, but whatever, those are all real animals. You made it, But you rode a nice private jet right when you went. Yeah,
because you're made of money from the power boat racing. That's right. We made it. We barely made it, but we made it. And I swore I would never fly over the Atlantic Ocean again after that trip. Pacific though, fair game good. Yeah, I think Pacific's fine. The Atlantic is far more dangerous to fly over because of winds. Yeah, and the Bermuda Trian. I always wanted to go to North Korea. Did you see that half an hour hotel in Pyongyang? You should be fine? Okay,
all right, well, Danny should be. It's time for your news. It's your news. Thanks. Oh, Maddie, it's time for Dingy's morning news. H Danny's doing the news. Danny's doing the news. Let's just jump in. Yay. Thanks to Andrew's American Pizza Kitchen for sponsoring the news. Boy ya, I don't worry about it. We're good, all right. O. J. Simpson he's dead. Oh, prostate cancer. It got him. His lawyer, guy named Malcolm Laverne. And he's also the
executor of his estate. Was he not a member of the Dream Team. No, I don't remember Malcolm Laverne being on the docket when the dream Team was assembled. This is a guy that's kind of just handled his legal affairs later in his life. He's seventy six years old, so come to prostate
cancer. Last week. We broke the news right here on the Morning Downbeat, and the question was asked whether or not he would if Simpson's brain would be donated to science to study or look for any evidence of CTE and laverne. His attorney says that would be a hard no. His entire body will be cremated, including his brain. He made sure to that why not take the brain out and let's see what's going on in there, because rumors had
circulated recently that Simpson's brain would be used to study CTE. I'm for those of you that don't know, it's called chronic traumatic encephalopathy, which is a degenerated brain disease sometimes diagnosed in former NFL players. I mean, it's believed to be a result of repeated collisions on the field, and you don't know that you have it until you are deceased and they can actually study your brain. He says, Nope. The entire body, including his brain, will
be cremated. Former Bill's running back Thurman Thomas will be donating his brain to science. I think Ojay should do that. For his fellow peers the running backs of the days of yore? Mm hm, yeah, Danny, don't tell me about that on any control over this. I'm not Malcolm Laverne. I'm just telling you the news. Can you find out, though, if a guy was if he killed his wife by studying his brain? If you can, the world will never know because they're going to cremate his brain and
his body. I feel like it's always a one big package deal on cremations, but maybe not. I'm just saying, will we get to that technology where someone dies and then you can study the brain and find out the truth of one part of your brain is gray? Doesn't that mean that you probably killed them once? I think it's all gray, But there is a murder lobe if you extract that study it. Apparently within an hour of announcing OJ's
death that a debt collector working for the Goldman family started reaching out. Well, I don't know how to feel about that too. Should you be entitled to a lot of money? Yes, if your family members were killed, you know, say what you want about Ron Goldman, But boy Love, I was not ever going to let it go, and neither would I. He shouldn't you mean Fred Goldman. Yeah, I'm sorry Fred Goldman, family of Ron Goldman, but Fred, Yeah, the family of Ron. Uh
that night? It would you should you? How does that work? You should be entitled to millions of dollars because your son was killed? Well he was. He civil thirty three million dollars civil judgment that happened in ninety seven that said Simpson wilfully and wrongfully calls caused Goldman in Nicole Brown's debts. What a dumb sister. God is done. It is what a weird admission? Fiel, Yes, so, yeah, you're responsible for it. Uh So,
this attorney made comments. He clarified some comments that he made to the Las Vegas Review Journal in which he said he wanted the family of Ron Goldman to get zero nothing from Simpson's estate. Relating to the civil judgment, Laverne said he had been referring to a debt collector working for the Goldman families, who he said, within an hour we announced Simpson's death, this debt collector was bashing Simpson, we're gonna do this, and that they're reaching out.
And he also acknowledged, yes, my comment was pretty harsh, but the bottom line is Simpson owed money to the irs, and that most of his possessions, including football's jersey other sports memorabilia, had long ago been seized. Towards this nineteen ninety seven judgment, he clearly had something left, right, he was stashing some money away. I never know how did that work either, because the civil suit says, all right, I owe you more than
I'll ever make in my life. I can't pay it. The course, like, yeah, of course you can't pay it, but we're going to work on it. Yet I still live a pretty awesome life in golf every day. Hey, Twitter world, I'm on the nicest course in La right, I mean, come on, every day it seemed like everything's a lie. Yeah, where's Maybe that's OJ's things Like I'm gonna die sooner than later. Anyways, I'll just tuck it away and go as long as I can
without paying this money. And OJ's kids should not be responsible for this in any way. You know, it dies with him. Yeah. So Bob cost disappeared on the Today Show and he recalled a moment with OJ that happened when OJ was behind bars. So, for whatever reason, OJ reached out to Bob Costas and wanted to do an interview with him. So Costas visited him in November of ninety four. Now this was before the onset of the murder trial, and along with Robert Kardashian and Al Collings, Costas showed up
at his cell. And this isn't you know when Costas was I mean heavy, heavyweighted NBC Sports, He was Joe Bunk of that time, so pinky. They're separated by the glass partition, and Simpson noticed that Costas had a cut on his hand and had a bandage on. Simpson started licking his lips. Oh, he said something that was kind of creepy and uncomfortable. He's Costa said. When I put my hand up there and he saw the bandage and a little drop of blood, he said, wait a minute, wait
a minute, you did it? Just have a little fun. Oh boy, now Simpson, I didn't do that. Well, yeah, I guess Costas had told this story before, and Simpson denied this version of the story. But Costa says, now I remember it plain a day, and I remember it as always being an incredibly odd moment. He said, just in that moment, it was an attempt at an awkward situation. The light in the mood if that was possible. I didn't read anything more into it than
that, but yeah, it was a little weird. What's funnier that? Or that is bizarre? Hey, man, are you leaking some puss? I mean his joke is at me. He's going for humor then just keeping it light. Yeah, he's in a jail show. For God's sakes, you did it? You did it. I mean this is before this, before they were unable to prove his guilt. I mean, he was a waiting trial for this. This wasn't the civil this was the criminal case.
And he's making jokes with costness. Just the amount of narcissism and denial. And I'm telling you, like I said last week, I think he just kind of got to a place in his brain where he believed that he didn't do anything. See, I don't think that. I was looking at his book this weekend, just the cover of it, what I did it. But it just says in huge read letters, I did it, and the if is like hidden in the eye of I did it. It's like a tiny if. His book is called if I did It? What If?
What If? He was he published a book called, essentially called I Did It? Yeah, to get money to pay the bill. Yeah, I mean that was that was to pay the dream Team. I don't think he ever had any intention of paying the Goldmans. He was trying to make money. What if he felt wrong? What if he I mean, there's no okay for this, right, But like, what if he's like, truly, can you see where he could have gotten to a place where he was
okay with doing what she was having an affair? Like what what if he had told himself that he'd gotten to that point and that he was okay with it now I got away with it? Great. He saw her on the porch with another man, a young, handsome man who, by the way, was gay. Was there simply to return her glasses from the restaurant? Right, Yeah, that's pretty sure that was the case. I assumed there was an entanglement. I don't believe. So google gay man, make sure
you click images. Wow, that's not bad, it says, It says. According to the documents twenty twenty two, the Golden Family had received from mister Simpson around one hundred and thirty two thousand dollars total, So he was just wow for a thirty three million dollars Judge yeah, does it say he's gay unless I'm completely off base here, But they let me I know that
they weren't romantically connected. If I started was Ron Goldman. And the first option on Google that pops up was Ron Goldman a black belt obviously not who's clicking on that? A third degree black belt? Apparently he must have had an elvis black belt where they just continue to give them to him. No, apparently the struggle was real, Danny. Just because he had frosted tips does not mean he was gay. Nothing's showing up on that they were banging
right, No way? Why no way? What waiter bring goes to someone's house to return lasses? We waiter has contact info for a patron And why does it matter? Well, it matters. It's so bad because this idiot beat her up, and she finally left and had the courage like restart and get her own place. And yes, was maybe messing around some young hot boy that she had gotten, and this psychopath comes and kills them. It's terrible. I don't think they were having a relationship. I think they were
just friends. Even Ron Goldman's friends stated that he would have informed him, informed them if he was dating Nicole and they were aware of his dating life, so they friends described them as pals. His friends described Ron and Nicole's pals. They'd meet for coffee, dinner, and work out together and go dancing. I think he might have well, maybe not full on, but
somewhat. I thought we were done with the Baltimore Bridge story, but apparently not, because the univ States federal government is now putting this whole thing under a federal criminal criminal investigation. Huh. The FBI and the US Coast Guard are leading a criminal investigation into the disaster, and this is what they're looking into, whether or not the crew failed to report an earlier issue with the vessel that delayed its departure. So we did know this that for whatever reason,
the boat didn't leave on time when it was supposed to. They're looking into, did they fail to report that there was a problem with the ship before it ever even departed, And if that's the case, you could have people brought up on charges because you had those six construction workers that were on the bridge repairing potholes and they ended up plunging into the Patapsco River and died and they've only found three of the bodies. Dang. Yeah, six victims
killed, only three of them have been recovered. But yeah, they're doing a full on investigation in that thing. Now, what's the cleanup status? Much? I actually just read they just started taking shipping containers off the ship. Okay, did they finally get the crew off the damn shist or oh? I guess I don't. I would assume once it been two weeks at least. It feels like it's been at least two weeks. So yeah, removing all the containers is a critical step, and then eventually moving the pin
ship, which is covered in mangled steel on its bow. Mattie, go ahead, pop me up on planting some audio here in a minute, A couple of quick hits. You had one hundred and seventy four people that were stranded in a freaking cable car got rescued twenty all of them twenty three hours after an accident happened in Turkey. One person did plummet from the car under
the rocks below and died, and several were injured. But dude, one hundred and seventy four people stranded in multiple cable cars, Okay, so this is sort of a gondoless yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, this was for recreational purposes. But one of the pods hit a pole and burst open. One of the people fell out of that pod well to stop the whole operation. So these people are just hung up there for almost a full day.
And they had like six hundred and seven search and rescue personnel and ten helicopters involved, and they got everybody out that survived other than the one dude that fell. It was wind. I guess something caused the one to hit a pole and a dude fell out of it. Yep, okay, and that dude died one hundred and seventy four strand in the air and a civil war. Scored number one at the box office opening and broke an a twenty four record and netted twenty five point seven million dollars. All right, this
day in history. U Jackie Robinson became the first African American player in Major League Baseball, making his debut at the age of twenty eight on to Ebbitts Field in Brooklyn to compete for the Dodgers. And also in nineteen twelve, the Titanic sank ohh Kevin nineteen twelve Kevin go see the current leader for worst Atlantic disaster, but as of today. Most recently this happened in twoenty thirteen. Kevin mentioned that today as Patriot Day in Boston, eleven years ago,
we all remember when this happened. Just before two point fifty pm. This is the viewpoint seen by many of the twenty six thousand marathon runners were approaching the finish line. The first of the two explosions rocks the sidewalk along the course, white smoke plasting to the air, blowing metal barricades into the street.
It's viewing shrap. The crowds gathered at the finish We need some more ambulances, yes, because on April fifteenth, twenty thirteen, two bombs went off near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three spectators, surprisingly low number considering the magnitude of these blasts, but wounded more than two hundred and sixty other And that's a lot of a lot of severe injuries, not just a little bit of shrap. I mean people getting their effing legs blown
off. I remember being really infatuated with the hunt for those guys. Oh my gosh, that happened. They had gone into and that one of them was hiding in a boat. Yeah, was it that? It was Mark Wahlberg and the made for TV series where they hunted down the what was this a Joe kar He and Peter Griffin started in it? Yeah, Joe Carr and Hambert tamber Darvish nineteen years old and twenty six years old sold good job.
Four days later. Okay, here it is. Four days later, after an intense man hunt, man hunt that shut down the Boston area, they captured one of the sau suspects of the nineteen year old. His older brother died following a shootout with law enforcement earlier that same day. Wasn't that the one where they had the night vision or the thermal thermal technology and the guy was hiding in the back of a boat underneath a start a sailboat underneath
a tarpyard. These guys were in where were they? What was the name of that? Uh? That neighborhood in a suburb of Boston where they were like just walking down the street, just indiscriminately firing weapons and throwing bombs. I remember, I remember listening to the police incredible of that live. Yeah, yeah, that was a fascinating case. I can't remember what the name of the little limited series that came out on that, but it's worth watching
today. Patriots Day really really good. Was that a movie or was it a mini series? That's a good question, Daddy, really good. Anyway, that's a news movie movie. Thank you, Dingy, well done. They're nice to say that. We got some more sports stuff to clean upright including, uh we know on the maps are playing Arrangers, Panic arm once again, some more master stuff, the races we are here in Texas.
I have so much fun in audio. Next to and don't forget, we will continue to monitor all of the dangerous creatures that live in the Atlantic Ocean. That too. Next
