Record of the year, Like you could have a record of the year that doesn't really even do particularly well by current standards as far as sales, and the record of the year I guess is maybe
more subjective, where the song of the year is more objectable. Well it's more yeah, it's more the songwriter or maybe maybe mixing those songwriter is the one where you're more likely to see like a Bonnie Rate when in two thousand and something, then you know, a record of the year, it's going to go to one of these big pop stars. They started short in the fifties, sixties, got a little longer seventies, eighties, nineties, and then since the nineties it's been getting shorter and shorter and It's funny that what I'm seeing now in the length of songs is almost it's reflective of what music was doing sixty seventy years ago, when they kind of had to make songs short to fit on a seven inch single. You get kind of
a limited space on those things. When you it was not uncommon to see certain pop songs. There's some there's some Elvis Presley songs that are less than two minutes long, like one forty seven and you're talking a seven inch record, which you get a little recording. Then we'll go back in time with a reason to go back in time and look at what they were a number of years ago. So we will look at the top three in Billboard Top
one hundred in just a moment. And then after that, I want to go back to a time not long ago, the not too distant past, to February second of twenty twenty, just four years ago. Now, what was happening in February of twenty twenty is we were about to lock down the world for an indefinite amount of time. We didn't know, We didn't know what was happening. We didn't know what was going to happen to us.
We didn't know the severity of what the news that was coming about this weird virus that was starting to get a foothold in different parts of the world. And I'll be damned if that thing didn't last for what two two plus years in one form or another, until it seemed like things I mean, I feel like today we're pretty much back to normal. Yeah, people are still getting variants of COVID. You still see some people wearing masks out and about,
but it is nothing like it was just four years ago.
