What's going on out in the physical media world tonight? We are live with the Cult of Cinema himself, Aaron Pinn. Aaron, my friend, how are we? I am good? It is a warm day here again today and not Morocco warm, but still super warm for this Canadian guy, right, and you know with the lack of hair if I go outside, hats lots of lots of hats, immediate burning. Oh my god. Yes, what's the high been up there recently? I'm not too about them. We
had like thirty, it's bettering thirty. I think it was the hottest we had it so not you know, not that's warn but you know it's not in Morocco. It's been like fifty. So the difference though is here we get humidity and I have allergies and Rocco there's no humidity, so no problem is what the allergies say? Big difference? Yeah, well, says Hi to some of the people. We got live, We got Ken what's going on? And my friend Jeff, Dave James and then sartists on John's Live,
What's going on? John? Speaking of John, I know John watches your channel all the time and wanted to say that tomorrows John's birthday, So happy birthday John, Happy birthday John? Man? What and Swift is there too? Also? Honestly see the second box at hair Literally, Swift got me this nice. Oh, thank you man, Thanks Swift. Dustin's here too, I know Dutch. Dustin watches your show What's going on? Dead Sea Live? And then my sister's here, what's going on? Courtney?
It's always good to have family. My sisters. Isn't more nice? Anthony says, hello, and to join the discord. I'm sure we'll talk about that later. Video Store says it's already July in the UK. We've got a few more hours left, but it'll be July and Aaron's Neck of the Woods before I get off with him tonight, I'm sure. Other than that, man, there's not been a lot going on this week, but then tomorrow suddenly we're going to get a avalanche of titles announced. So next week
is going to be a wild one. But we got some cool things to talk about this week. Usually around here we might talk about some pickups, but you got two really big ones. You want to talk about those that you got with you? I did, actually, so I went join the seven sale. I did like a whole week pretty much a week seven, and on the last couple of days I said, okay, I have the donation link that I have like you used to have there, and my viewers
were really good because I didn't have the money to get anything. That's the truth. Because we're we're packing stuff. I'm sure to see the boxes behind you or not. But speaking of donation lakes below, if anybody wants any bills, yeah, if you've ever had been monetized on YouTube, you know, unless your name is Pewtie Pie or you know, or Philip Franco, You're you're not making any money. That's gonna like ye even Rice, mister Beast, I am not, that's for sure. I wish man your Crypto
Christopher League Collection number one. I'm super stoked about this. I've seen most of the movies in here, nice, so I'm not going in blind with these. Torture Chamber Doctor Sadum's one of my favorites. I love that film. Uh, Theodore Macawber I have not seen, so this is gonna be a brand new one for me. Uh and I love like foreign stuff. So it's a Polish anthology series for crystally hosting it, and I love cool mat but the one of the greatest sets ever put out the media all the
time is right here. All thes uh twenty films, advertised films, tons of short films and full length attached with it, short films that are as long as some of the advertise killer killer stuff. I am so excited and overwhelmed by this set because I'm gonna be reviewing this and I mentioned I'm a channel. I'm not sure if you said maybe here this morning, I'm gonna box this stuff, but I'm gonna be doing a new segment on my channel called a box set breakdown. Yeah, I'm gonna take not just new box
set's, but I'm gonna take order box sets as well. I'm gonna review them and break them down. This one is probably gonna take around two months before I can actually really get into the the reviews because I want to do a good job and I got a lot of watching for this. It's an important box set, yeah it is, and I want to give the reverence I think it deserves. So that's what I got on I got. I
guess you know this kind of counts. I got two cons, one norm Year one and the last one I think I needed in the first Scott snyt of IM, which is Graveyard Shift, which is mostly solo stories, and I think I had some of them already in Serial Year, but I need to get some of those newer Batman's. I've not gotten hardly any of those. So one of the things you said with the Severn box set was it may be one of the best box sets in physical media of all time.
I got to ask, what do you even see as comparable for that, because there's a few that I see potentially as far as content wise, but even then, most of the time they don't really live up to what is in the Severn box set. Like the Herschel Gordon Lewis the original set, the Shock and Gore set from Arrow with the extra special features and all that might be somewhere on par, but again, the films in the Severn set
are just so much better. I think if you want to go with comparable, well you got to mention criterions Ingrad Bergman's Ingarbergen set, you can't. That's the best set they ever did. I think was pretty much I'm not gonna say downhill, but what it never reached that level again, so that
that is definitely comparabive. This is the Criterion level set when you think about absolutely, but otherwise I'd say for what you get for your money's worth and and just is the shoutscup set that's that's probably the closest to it, And the next closest is Aladamson, which is again a fantastic also put it by several they're putting a box sets that, like Northern Company before, I think
that the best companies are putting in box sets right now. Definitely seven when they put them out, Indicator is like King of the box Sets over in the end the UK. But here is where they have like nineteen twenty films direct complete directors works and they give it with reverence as a matter if it's like and Al Adams or right then a Steckler or even an Andy Milligan.
They give reverence to these directors. And unfortunately Criterion can't even get Reverend and I love Criterion, don't get me wrong, can even always give reverence to the directors they're giving sets to. And Anya Varda is the perfect example of that. I feel like, okay, they put it or stuff, but they cheaped out on it, and that breaks my heart because she's such a
good director. I fully agree with everything you're saying there. One of the things I'm working on a sort of script, not really a box set breakdown, but just comparing the size of things essentially, And the way I've broken it down is Severn seems to be the king of the all encompassing box set. And then just like you said about a mid tier three or four title, maybe five title box set, Indicator is always going to take that cake
because they are so consistent across the board. But then I also got to throw out there, I think the best single film limited edition boutique right now, I got to throw that to second site, putting so much love into single films that are I mean, I made fun of the Drive release because it's so big, but at the same time it is getting so much respect in that that it's got two different books and a four K release all in this big box. And then they did the same thing with Donnoth the Dead.
They've done the same thing with The Guest and other titles like that. I don't love losing the shelf space, but I also got to respect the quality that they're putting into it, and who's not ecstatic for the Hitcher. They've got it. If they can really put out everything that they've told us is coming this year, We've got a really intense fall coming from Second Site.
I mean, we got the Hitcher, We've supposedly got Martin and four K coming, We've got Texas Chainsaw Maskers, seventy eight coming in four K. We've got I said seventy eight. I did not mean seventy eight. I don't know why I said that, but the original. We've got monsters coming, like Christopher Selvestri just had in the comments, and then they just
announced those two Hammer titles coming in August as well. It's a huge, huge year potentially for Second Sight. They've really come up and over the now. They've always been good, but they've always flown into the radar. Second Site was always one of those companies that if you're a hardcart like us, if you're a big geek, you know Second Sight because you probably grabbed the Return of the Living Dead set when it came out. It was the only
release that's got the right music for a Return Living Dead. Screen Factory doesn't have it, No other release has it. Only Second site hasn't and they put it with the actual full documentary they speak threw along like more Brains documentary. So yeah, and then of course there was the basket Case trilogy that they did early on fantastic stuff and now they're doing these big freaking sets and
everyone seems to get better than the last one. But I'm still sad that I missed it on Down to Dead that's the one that really hits me there, That is one. I'm glad he is getting this lasting, standard release from them. They seem to be still putting it out with vigor, and a lot of people are able to pick that up now, thankfully, so I just hope they're able to keep it up. It is a lot of big titles to put out this year. I totally forgot the Witches also coming
in four K that got delayed, but it's about to come out. Yeah. They just incredible work from them. Let's see any one of the other things we usually talk about right now, any recent watches you want to highlight? God, what did I watch recently? Yeah? I watched most of the stuffs of the packs again like going on watching stuff and Shutter to Be But and I had three in mind, and for the life of me right now, I cannot remember a single one of them. I remember really liking
it whatever, whatever the heck it was. I watched last night. Oh yeah, I watched finally got to watch Prompting Young Woman. Oh nice, I've been It's been on my back burner movies to watch for obviously for a while saying. And so I turn it on and I'm seeing all these names come up. I'm like, are you serious? How did I miss out
on this? And I loved it. It kind of wrecked me. But but oh my god, what an incredible film, and the fact of the way that they did it, because this is kind of like the you know, the revenge that are without again, what's what's smart? Without actually being exploitative about it, And it just starts off genius and just keeps going and keeps going. And I'm like, when it gets to the point where I sort of know kind of where it's going, I'm like, please uncle here
right, But I've been waiting to watch that one. I don't know what I'm waiting for necessarily, but just the right moment to make sure that I give it the appreciation it deserves. But I love bo Burnham. So I'm dying to see it. Oh yeah, yeah, like it. Trust me, it's really good. A couple from mine recently that I wanted to highlight. I finally got to see The Northman and fairly underwhelmed. It led me down a little bit. I think that it's a step down for Eggers.
I think that the production design and all that was beautiful. It was a marvel to look at on screen, but overall it just felt like not a whole lot happened in the movie. I've certainly appreciated his first two much more than that one. And then, just to change gears a lot, I showed my seven year old last night Rookie of the Year from Disney from the early nineties, and that movie holds up like crazy. That movie is fantastic, really well done, great cast, just a blast to watch again.
Still on Disney Plus for anybody looking for it looks better than it ever has. I yeah, I loved watching that one again with him. I think those those in movies hold up. I mean, like even the older ones you s watched the seventies, like I remember jamickavincient like the World's Grace Athlete, and there's like computer War tennis shoes with Kurt Russell. Yeah, they're just so fun. Swift wants to know thoughts on the Shots Volume one set.
Obviously you've loved it. Is there any like downside that you saw to the shoscope set? I would, I wouldn't like to say, but uh, honestly not at all. And I thought, okay, well not everyone is, you know, good it's gonna be kung fu. Uh, you know, because he had money peeking and stuff like that. But the breadth of what they did for this one here and the features that are in there, Uh, the way that it's the way that you know it's packaged is
brilliant. I wasn't sure until I actually add to my hands if I was certain that if I was going to like the packaging. I love the packaging and I cannot wait to get the other one. Now. Only is your negative. I guess you're gonna take up a little of the shelf space depending on how you're gonna like display it. But I think everybody that likes this
type of cinema at all should have this in their collection. Well, and that shelf space, it means you're pretty much gonna have to highlight on a on a shelf by itself, and oh darn, what a set to highlight. I will give another nod to Severn here. I do think that they've sort of mastered that that small box set size to keep it on the shelf for such a huge swath of films. I know you and I kind of agree on this. I don't love the sleeves, but it does work great
for this. The only time I like the sleeves are iffy when you're looking at a DVD set, right, because you're gonna get more, you're gonna get scratches and stuff like that. Well four K as well, if we ever go down that route. Yeah, but uh, for like when it comes to Blu Ray and four K, this surface scratches pretty much what you
might get here, but nothing that's gonna affect like the discs. But now, if you a DVD set like a Friday to thirteenth, I remember that one that, yeah, you can't get scratched like crazy A Yeah, I like, I just love the way these are done, and the artwork on this is gorgeous too. Yeah, Swift definitely if you looking at the shoscope set and you're not if you like that type of film at all. Definitely
it's worth getting. There's a ton of features on it, and it's just so beautiful, big book in it, and the biggest thing is it will it's one of those like film School in a box set that you will be able to dive into either a genre or in this case it's a production company. But it's something that you can really just go all in on something. And especially with this one, you know that you've got at least a volume two coming, and some of the people from Arrow have kind of hinted they
might be going for a volume three. I know the original deal didn't cover enough for a volume three, but they might be considering that now. And I mean with everybody really hammering home Shaw over the last couple of years, eighty eight films, Errow obviously doing it both here and in the UK, and then Eureka doing tons of Asian cinema, we've got a lot going for us right now. Oh there's a ton that's going out there. Oh here's a comic one for you if you've never get your hands on it, Ryan,
Deadly Hands, Kung Fu. They put it two animouses for that. Have you seen those? So when I was a kid like there's a magazine's come out like Marvey's put this magazine called Daily Hands Kung Fu and it had like Shang Chi, Iron Fists, White Tiger, Dodge of Dragon, all these characters. They have comics in there, but in with that they'd have
like articles on different forms of martial arts, movie reviews. They had a Chuck Norris issue, they had a weaponry issue, and I picked up the one of the onymous and they have everything in there, all the articles and everything, and it just brought me back to my childhood. I'm like you, if you like the Shauscope stuff, you would definitely like this because it
just dived right into like this segment there with movie reviews and everything. M On that note, if you were looking for something either similar to Shaw or you've not really given the deep dive into Asian cinema. Coincidentally, I want to highlight the comment from Dave to mention. I put up sort of an interview with Eric, the Asian movie enthusiast yesterday, a friend of both of
ours. He and I sat down and talked for almost a full hour and did what I essentially called a beginner's guide to Asian cinema and We went pretty deep, like top things from most of the countries in Asia, different eras in Asian cinema, from different production companies, to the boutiques to buy from that are highlighting them, to companies in Asia if you can't find something with the US or UK release that you could go to, and man, it
was it was a really nice conversation. And I will say I commented on the video to say this, but if you're gonna watch it, you might want to sit down with a pen and a piece of paper because we name so many titles that you could literally have a watch list for the next three months with it. It was a good time. And let's see. Movie boy says, I'm a new fan, mister Cult Cinema. Love what you
do. Thank you, man, I really appreciate that. I am this ten years ten years decade anniversary for mister Aaron Pinn, the classic mister Vincent. But on that note, to celebrate you, let's get into some of these announcements. Alrighty, speaking of arrow video, we got coming on September nineteenth, two releases, and keep in mind a lot of people were complaining that we only got two releases. In the comments of every single post.
But they told us last month that we were only going to get two titles, so they should not have been a surprise, And they told us that they were doing this so that they could get the quality up. A lot of people have complained that they've had some replacement disc issues. They had an art slip up on a slip box where they have to replace the slip case
with new art because it was nearly identical to a Criterion release. There's been a handful of things like that, and they are focusing within and then on top of that, they also just lost one of their key employees, fran Semioni, left to start his own venture. And doing all of that is going to potentially lead to people losing faith in them. And I think the way that they're regrouping is a very smart thing, and it was perfect timing, I think exactly. I mean, like, don't overwhelm yourself show,
you know, cut it down, folks. On the quality QCs is what's important. You know. I want to be like, uh, bring doing all these like disreplacements or replacing this or having to fixed that, or and apologize for this doing one or two releases and you know what, and I'll Honestly, it can get overwhelming for a collector as well when you got like five or six releases from each company coming out on a on a monthly basis. So some months like this, low leaner months like this I really appreciate,
and they're still putting up some amazing stuff. It's just they're doing it at kind of at a at a slower level, and for me, that gives me a bit more faith that the quality is going to be there. I want to pick when our release appos, like you know, here's like seven movies are putting out every month type of thing. This is the second time I've agreed with Video Store Review, so I'll highlight this one. He
says. Strange how Arrow has those festival logos on the poster art. I don't really love that they have those on the top of the slip here, but I kind of think that this might be to get people understanding that this is actually a currently like revered film. A lot of people watching this now they it's respected. So there are other releases they've put out that's semi current.
One of mine that has been favorite that I would say is one of these current ones that they're highlighting, was the Why Don't You Just Die? Did you ever see that one? No? I haven't seen it, not, dude. This is a very err in film. I think you would love it. It's basically like if Edgar Wright and Quentin Tarantino made a film together, and it is violent as all get out. It is. It's
got like the quick cuts like Edgar Wright is known for. And it's great, but it had a lot of current respect but didn't sell super well. And so this one, this also has a lot of current claim to fame. And this is Vengeance's Mine. All Others Pay Cash? And this is from acclaimed Indonesian director Edwin and based on the novel by Ika Kerniwan Comes Vengeance's Mind. All the Other's Pay Cash? And this one the Golden Leopard at
the twenty twenty one Lacarno Film Festival. It is a pulpy, energetic throwback to eighty Southeast Asian action and coming of age cinema about a young man who can't get it up. I mean that sounds fantastic to me. Huh, I want to see it too. I love the fact that it is a seventy spaghetti western title, solid title. That's that's When I heard that, I said, is there a spaghetti western that he didn't see? Right? But uh yeah, I was actually pleasantly surprised. I also really like the
bonuses that they're putting on here. We got a brand new audio Q and A with the co writer, director Edwin, over an hour of behind the scenes footage from the film set into like built into thirteen episodes, which I kind of really like that that way you can step away and come back to
it if you need to. And then the World behind Vengeance over eighty minutes of interview featurettes with the cast and crew, video diaries from each day of shooting, and then an hour of readings from the original source novel featuring multiple cast and crew members. On top of like the normal deleted scenes trailers, image gallery and all of that. And then of course in the first pressing you're going to get the regular collector's booklet with new writing on the film by
Josh Hurtado. This just sounds like a winner to me. Yeah, they may have less releases, but they haven't slow done on the features. Oh my god, no, let's see Sarta says, I would love a month without any new releases to catch up. Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, Actually there should be like almost like you know when players get like a month off from like someone wants up. We need that, the collectors need that. August should be a by month every single year for physical media there
like re releases. Rory Clark says, I was worried Arrow would become way too commercial with the Hut Group overseeing things, and they've put out a few questionable titles, but nice to see they still have a focus on cult and Asian. How do you feel about that. I think that's something that a lot of people are worried about. Actually, I'd heard it from some of my viewers are like on camera and heard enough Camp that's some people worried where
Arrow was going to be leaning. I'm glad that it hasn't. It hasn't come that way. But I do think that with you know, the Hut group there, we are going to get more of these newer like Tift releases. I don't think that's a bad thing, though, I think it might be a needed adjustment as long as you know, I guess, well, I see it. Every company goes as far as he can, like coasting on what they can do. Vinegar SYNDERM couldn't do like just a sleazy stuff
forever. There had to be other stuff that went there. Errow used to do like Jello and Slashers early hearro, That's that's what you were, that's all what you were. So when you start doing other things like Asian at all, I was one of the first people back there on a keyboard. I can't believe you're putting out all these films. I want these films right
and the end of buying them. But yeah, like you'll see like adjustments and changes throughout when it from the company, when you're even when they're not bought by by something else. But yes, this was something that I heard a lot about and I myself was was basically wait and see and overall so far, I think, you know, it's pretty much uh part of the course. To me, I don't view the current films as being a HUT thing because they've always done that. I maybe they might do one or two
more a year. I don't see it being huge for them. But the other big thing is I've seen a lot more people complaining about shipping from Arrow since that started. Because the HUT group they they folded Arrow into their process and then the other thing. I obviously this kind of picked up with the everybody loves slipcovers thing, but it seems like in the last year or so, there is this huge focus with Arrow on site exclusive releases, which by
all means they need to get their money. And that's how if you're selling direct, that's where you make the most money. You know, you're not selling things wholesale. That makes sense, But I really just I don't know, like, do we need two different slip covers of Shaw Brothers release, just you know, choose choose one. Perhaps I guess at the end of the day that we don't have to, like, you know, it's there,
like some people are gonna go in and they're gonna buy that. And you know, I've been definitely like one of those guys that like, oh, I need this other release, not but with like you know, if there's no other features or anything like that. But you know, I understand it. I mean, they did it. They had a big push towards
steel books with Zavvy. They've had that for a while yea. But for me, I mean, like a lot of the stuff that they're doing right now, the shipping thing one way worked well for me because right after they started chipping, they sent me an extra film. It was that not even an ERA might have been one of their partner companies called Skip excellent movie, probably just as good as any of the ERA movies that I'd ordered. So I was like, fantastic because I contact them, so you know I got
the Section movies. Oh yeah, that was That was on purpose, So it's okay purpose, But yeah, I don't think it was, buddy, I'm not gonna complain about a free movie and a free good movie of that. The other thing I noticed they used to who was it? I think
it was Zavvy, who also is owned by the Hut Group. Obviously, I think they used to not send out any tracking, and after Arrow got folded in, something happened with their process change, and I think more people are getting tracking now than they used to, which by all means that's a better thing clearly. So yeah, I'm not completely down on it. I have not been able to make any true complaints. The only thing, I, you know, talking about the side exclusives, I at most only choose
one nowadays. But the only thing that makes it more difficult is like the Arrow UK releases of the Argento's with the original art. I'm all about that original art. So to get it from Arrow directly is a little more iffy on shipping rather than like, I'd much rather choose it from Orbit or Diabolic, where they're getting it on a palette in the States, and usually that's safer to them, and then they'll box it nicely to my house. See, I always tend to buy like unless I find it summer really cheap,
I'm guess because I'm in Canada directly from Arrow. So I've always bought direct from Arrow. Like in the beginning, like when I started out, I bought some Amazon UK stuff, But as soon as I fin at Arrow had their own website and there were the size scods to be back now like in the early True True then I started just and buying from Arrow, and every year they'd have the sales. The only thing I can say with the Zavi part of it is sometimes you get like tracking and sometimes you don't, And
when I don't, I'm a nervous wreck because I need track. It's a roll of the dice. Yeah. And then with ZAV a lot of times they don't sell or they don't ship things together. So if you order four things you you'll likely get four different boxes, and no tracking means it's kind of up in the air. If you're going to get all four of them, great deal, yea. How about an ombus from nine dollars or ninety Well, and speaking of zav and Arrow, this is the perfect time to
remind everybody I forgot this was even announced. The Tremor's four K Steel book that Arrow is putting out. That's a Zavvi exclusive that releases like next week, and nobody has been talking about that for a long time. So if you're into that, look up on zav Tremor Steel Book that is about to drop. I'm sure they're gonna be shipping it before the end of this week. But we got one more announcement from Arrow, and I think this one's
kind of super important. Let's take a look at this one. This is a Fugitive from the Past from nineteen sixty five, and thankfully a lot of people are excited about this one. So this one says, in nineteen forty seven, a freak typhoon sends a passenger ferry running between Hokkaido and mainland Japan plunging to the ocean depths with hundreds of lives lost during the chaos, three men are witnessed fleeing a burning pawnshop and the Hokkaido port town of Iwani.
The police suspect theft and arson, and when Detective Yumisaka discovers the burned remains of a boat and the corpses of two men, he sets about tracking the shadowy third figure. Meanwhile, the mysterious Tikichi Unukai takes shelter with the prostitute Yai, a brief encounter that will come up to define both of their lives. A decade later, long after the trailer has gone cold, Yumisaka is called back by a successor, detective Ajimura, as two new dead bodies are
found. This is making its home video debut outside of Japan for the first time ever. This adaptation of a seventeen hundred page novel is a landmark master director Uchitah's ouvra It's gritty monochrome photography has the immediacy of newsreel as Ucheetah uses the landscapes of post war Japan to explore the massive social upheaval and unspoken legacies of the war and create an unsettling karmic allegory of a man struggle to escape his past sins. Heavy. Yep, this is a heavy release and coming
with a lot of interesting things. Here. We've got presentation of the one hundred and eighty three minute long cut of the film, the original uncompressed mono audio introduction by writer and curator Jasper Sharp, seen specific commentaries from leading Japanese film scholars, and then the original trailer image gallery, and then a featurette on the director's filmography, and a fully illustrated collector's book in that first run.
Like we mentioned with the last one, this sounds incredible. It sounds like a historical touch point that a lot of us should have. It looks like they're really going I mean like, and I can understand when you're that long seeing specific commentary. Yeah yeah, unless you're Catre, No way you're doing a commentary that long. But she just seems a master. But Jasper Sharp on here because this is his this is his forte, this is what
he knows better than anything. I'm always really excited when I get like a release this type with Jasper, even like the Ring when they put the Ring Goo collection his stuff on that was fantastic. But you know, we have a seventeen hundred page book, so yeah, one hundred and eight through massive makes sense. Still a lot out of that pine, right, But uh yeah, I'm excited. I've never seen this one obviously, it's no we're in North America and not even through Nefari's purposes, so you know, I
haven't seen it around anywhere. Have you seen this? I have not seen it, but I am dying too. And a lot of those old Japanese releases are filmed like ahead of their time. They are much much more advanced in cinematography than you would think for the years that they were done in and a lot of American filmmakers had some catching up to do, and they finally
did years later. But man, some of those are not only just epic and scale and scope, but they they come across as you know this again, I go back to the word touch point, because it's like their touch point in their cinema for their entire history, and this is one of them. What do I say, I mean, this is a you know,
it's about thinking one. It's something that we didn't expect and I don't think anybody could have guessed, right, well, one that surprised me, this is another Arrow thing that I want to talk about, and I did not have this in my now bouncements on Instagram, So I want to share this
now. But you just brought up the perfect segue. Kat Ellinger, we found out from her today that she made a feature length film about the legend Genre Lan in partnership with Arrow, and it's opening the Fantasia International Film Festival. So scrolling down here you can see orchestrator of Storms, the fantastique world of Genre Lan. Let me zoom in a little bit for everybody to be
able to read this little better. Dima Balin and Cat Ellinger's Years in the Making documentary tells the story of one of eurocult cinema's most singular voices, Genre Lan, recipient of Fantasia's Lifetime achievement Ward back in two thousand and seven. Deeply misunderstood and widely misrepresented during his decades long career as a film director,
Roland's work were unlike any others. Once you dig into his life and passions, what emerges as a strong connection to the French surrealist, to symbolist art, to the poetry of Tristan Corby, to the French anarchist scene in the
sixties and counterculture. Working closely with Roland's family, Orchestrator of Storms attempts to elevate the director's work by exploring it in depth alongside these major influences, presenting the filmmaker story as never seen before, with the help of some of his key collaborators, close friends, and experts in both film and cultural history, including Fantasia's twenty twenty two Canadian Trailblazer, the one that Aaron brought up earlier.
Kierla Denise, who also co executive produced this a miracle of a documentary achievement, and this is a world premiere. This is amazing. This is the holy crap moment that we've had since this was announced. I am hoping that the fact that it's this being co produced by Kayla, that maybe seven and maybe Greg Gray Dave Gregory Man a genre landbox set. We wouldn't love that that could be the next like that would be a landmark set for those
that don't know. He's a fantastic French director that I grew up loving and much like you know, like the one I don't sound like just Francovick, but I think they both have like really interesting work, but genre Lane is like this definitely a very very artie style. You can get a lot of new detata that much right now. Oh yeah, but it is, It's incredible and this is coming right after and again I don't want to be like one of those conspiracy tinfill had guys. But we just got a bridge ly
he like thing from uh from seven. So not sure if severn is, but if if anybody from seven watches this, yeah, I think pretty much everybody would buy the hell out of out of a box like that with that nice comentary attached. Considering that a co produced it, I would. I would imagine they would try to get the rights in the US as well.
The only thing that would be holding this up, I mean, Keno is still selling the Redemption titles from Roland and those are those are a lot of his most well known works, and honestly, those were released long enough ago I could see those expiring soon and being part of a new box set either without Well, first off, a lot of those did not have many extras,
but they did look pretty good. Well, Quo comes extras. They're not exactly known for it, especially early on, like they're don't get getting better now, but early on we have to admit if you got a trailer around a Keno release or excited, John says, those discs came out in twenty thirteen. Yep. So licensing for those that don't know that, the most common licenses in physical media are usually five years, seven years, and
ten years. So we've already passed five years and seven years. In next ten years, this could be a twenty twenty three release if somebody's able to get some of those. I'm not saying that's that's you know, coming, or guaranteed or anything like that, So don't quote this and run with it or anything, but it is something that it's up in the realm of possibility unless somehow Redemption was able to get lifetime releasing on those in the US,
which I highly doubt that. Yeah, no, considering like they're they're you know, Mary bav Is coming up pretty soon if they got them around the same time, and I think those were released round the same time. And again, like you know, this is not like an announcement. We are two film fans that would love to see this come out. That's that's what that is. And at the end of the day, I would love to have that, Like I said, like that in my collection. Either way,
I'm gonna buy the documentary. If I was guessing, I would bet that if if like if we knew, hey, we we are going to put some Rolan films out and this documentary, I would guess they would probably go for like three or four of the biggest one and do them in four K and release the documentary alongside with it. I prefer more retross, like I prefer just blue ray and then go with a retros with the directors. But I think it's Arrow that's doing it. Uh. Then I don't know
because they did do uh you did did Hirst girl Lewis? Uh did a couple like director sets like that? So we could get something along that line is and there you know they'll pimp the hell out of that much right now. Of course, it would have been nice to see a double if if seven and an Arrow I've worked together, uh, and you know that's how it's possibility with these companies. Yeah, Seven and Arrow just worked together earlier
this year, so that would not be surprising in the least. But but yeah, like I think I have one, like I only got one General, No, two General in in my collection right now, which is a shameless It's a total shame. I used to have a ton of them, but uh I I desperately need need more. So yeah, I want to say so bad. If anybody out there is a big fan of Cat Illinger.
She has talked about genre on count times on podcasts, so this is literally like a match made in heaven as well, this is going to be one of those that is a revelation in filmmaking currently, well in documentary filmmaking at least. Yeah, like that she knows more than anyone else when it comes to comes to this, and it's fantastic. Check out the podcast.
By the way, I don't think she does it anymore, but she went through a bunch of like of directors which some people call fans directors like Genre Lanes, Franco. I think she did it two part in just Franco h thanks from Heather back then right or her and Heather right, Heather Dry and of course it's Sam her Camp. It might have been Sam Degan. Yeah, I think you're right. Actually so yeah, because the Daughter's of Darkness podcast thing is what we was come back from. But it's Brian. Check
it out. Like you go through all these directors and do brown with them. Yep, Daughters of Darkness. Good stuff. Back to the announcements, speaking of Keno Lrber, they are putting out the Outside Man. This is coming in twenty twenty three with a brand new four K restoration. Outside Man is from seventy two And have you have you seen this one? I think? But I don't remember. That's the truth. It's like it's a movie
that I'm looking at him like, yeah, I've seen this movie. I remember nothing about it, but yes, I think it's this movie happens all the damn time. Yeah, I'm not sure on this one. This is
one I'm certainly going to have to look into. But they also announced one that kind of irked some people because they had this previous release just very recently, and now they just announced that John Frankenheimer's The Train is coming in four K very soon from Keno Larber. And I guarantee this is gonna be one that will look very good in four K from Keno because this movie is cinematic to say the least. How do you feel about The Train? I love
the Train. This is a fantastic film four K in this Yes, I have. I have it on Glory right now, but what I upgrade eventually, I'm not sure I will be day one upgrade. But if you don't
have it, I think to day one buy for sure. And just like sartist who says I just bought The Train on Blu Ray, this is on sale right now in their current sales, so a lot of people not the four K version, but a lot of people have just bought the Blu Ray version because it was on sale for a really good price, and they bought that last Thursday or Friday, and then this was announced on Sunday, so a lot of people were sort of miffed that they announced it right as it
was on sale. Anyways, I will spend just a real quick moment to say. This past weekend my discord that is available through my Patreon, we did a live movie stream over our discord and it was way better than I expected. It was so much fun. We had a handful of guys in there, not like roasting a movie or anything like that, but we all had microphones on and we were just talking about cool things that we liked in
it. We were talking about the people in the film, what we you know, appreciated them in other cinema of what we appreciated about the director, and we watched daily animals. It's a really great film to watch as a group. It was just so much fun. If you are interested in that link is in the description below. I'm probably gonna be doing this once a month because I had such a good time. Moving to the next one, the Bob's Burgers movie, I am shocked is getting like a fully loaded release.
We are getting a nice four K steel book coming to best Buy. Now, what's really odd? This movie did pretty well and this is supposedly only getting a Blu Ray release except for this steel book. There is no standard four K of this announced yet. The press release only mentions Blu Ray and then this four K steel book. I'm super curious to see how that plays out. But this is available to pre order from best Buy already, so if you have not seen this or want this steel book, this is
the best time to get it. Right now. Are even to Bob Bob's Burgers. I know you watch a lot of current animation. Yeah, I actually like Bobsburgers a lot. Actually, it's so weird when you watch Archer and then you watch Passpords. I love the episode of you know where they have about like Archer come on. But uh yeah, this this makes sense actually because best Buy is basically Zavy for North America, and I's like Zavy.
Best Spy is all of it, the Steel Book, They're all of it, the Steels And if they can like snag a four K edition of what's going to be a very popular release because Bob's Burgers, you know, at the end of the day, it was extremely popular show. It's huge. Yeah, so it's like, you know, I wouldn't I wouldn't be surprised to see them put it like, you know, some type of like four K of like Beef somebody that, you know, the new one that came out recently. Yep, I still need to see that new one.
Swift says, I just bought forty one Blu rays from Keno who that is. But they had some great prices on like I couldn't do it right now, but they have some great prices on the sound Land. So good on you, because you're gonna get some good releases, you know, Putts, we got a ton of quin of stuff here and they put out a ton of great stuff. I still need to get those night galleries man and the
culture. Sarta says he watched the animated Irish folklore set. I need to get it that one from Shout Factory, and I'm still kicking myself for not getting it from the target. Sale that will startis all right. It is probably leaping to the front of my wishlist right now. I mean both of us, you and I both really love animation, and a lot of the current stuff is great. But some of these that are getting these nice releases, I just want them all. But man, money just does not fall
out of my pockets. I don't get it. No, Like we got to the pine right now, where it's like there's not a lot of new stuff that I can bring into the house because you know, and then it's like if I bring too much more in then that's another box I got to pack, right And I'm like, I can't. I just can't. So this week and like there was some Reather great sales going on, and I was like, I really want to go on, send the Mondo Macabre too.
I'm sure you're gonna mention that later has a movie that I really really want and I'm super tempting to get. But I'm trying to slot us up. This is the perfect time to mention Mondo. Actually, let me let me pull this down. We talked about the Mondo titles coming out fairly recently, but the three that are out right now are selling like gangbusters for Mondo Micabro. Yeah, obviously, the previous iteration of their bundle that they did
did not sell super well. As of earlier today, they still had quite a bit from those previous releases, and they even put out a stock update a little while ago, and it shows that they have a lot still available, but then also a lot that has already sold from this current release late, so if you were looking, you might want to get it. Just a few hours ago they posted they only had fifty of the bundle left, which is how to get all three at once. That was not all of
them that way, you can still get some of them singularly. But man, they are selling very well. I know one of them is a Franco title. I'm sure that's the one that you're most interested in. Yeah,
it's not a Franco title like to expect either. It's this is not the super sleezy Franco title that that a lot of people assume when you think of Franco, this is definitely more of a more reserved the normal and a really good story when it comes to when it comes to when it comes to Franco title, Uh, when you read the description, you almost get kind of like a a boogey man Uli Lomo type feel to a portion of it because it is about like this girl she's haunted by uh, by the mirror of
her reflection for her father. Not a spoiler's right, you know, near the beginning of the film, but it is like, definitely it's not the type of Franco if you're expecting to get like cries and pleasure that you're not getting that. But if you're expecting like a kind of a more story oriented, a better Franco film. Definitely not not that I'm not gonna have there's no nudity, but I'm just gonna say it's not like it's not all in
on the sleazy stuff. It's earlier around I think the mid seventies, right, Franco. So we're looking at when Franco was really where you know, was that at that point? That is uh, first for me for a lot of people that study Franco was at the zenith of like his creativity, which I don't think you would get to again until he had no money in the in the eighties, when Franco just said, Okay, I got no money, I'm going to dive inside me. And just to make crazy last
minute update, I didn't see this. Two hours ago they posted that bundle is sold out, so that you can no longer get the discount and bundle for all three and as of two hours ago, the other side of the mirror, which was the Franco title, so he had seventy eight seventy eight. Oh my god, I am right now to see if you can even still purchase it. Yes, it is still available to add to Kart, so if you are wanting that one, I don't see it lasting probably till
the morning. The Love Brides of the Blood Mummy is down to one hundred and eighty nine as of two hours ago. And then The Horrible Sexy Vampire, which is their current one that is coming out with a slip cover. That's the first time they've done a slip in a couple of years. At this point it is down to only one hundred and thirty and they also had announced earlier that they're of older titles. Hotel Fear had one hundred and seventy
five left. This is as of three hours ago. Strangler Versus Strangler had one hundred and five. Designated Victim had forty five, and then they joked that Apocalypse After still had a billion leftover. That's what I mean. You gotta you know, you gotta love that that you do that. Yeah, Brian is here, Brian Trash. He says, hey, Aaron, Hey man, no, if you don't have this, frank come Onan, did you get this with the one I did? I don't know that I can
pass on any Mondo announcements at all. They seemingly every single one has something that just grips me. I I don't know what it is, but I have fallen in line with Jared's taste at Mondo and with Pete Tombs taste. Like everything they put out, there's something in there that I will love in every single release. Franko's the best of the three, but they're but the
three decent titles, like for sure, like and they look gorgeous. The last one they did with the slipcover was the one that I picked up actually with and had this like George I think was the George Eastman was one of those guys that I really love, like they had like a full like bonus disc interview, like so long is that Queens of Evil? Yes, that's fantastic. I love that one, and that good it's in with full Core. That's a definite other full core film that I'm I'm glad it's not on
here, but I'm glad I own it because it's fantastic. If you don't know it. By the way, guys and you're going into p order like this stuff, Queens of Evil is a great pickup. But I would definitely recommend that I agree, And as usual in the comments, you got a bunch of people recommending other titles to Hidruko the Goblin that is the Supermotor release,
and then days on Grasshopper Films. Looks good. We're gonna talk about the Grasshopper Films in just a minute because they have a sales starting tonight at midnight. But going back to the announcements, we got one that both Aaron and I love. Bram Stoker's Dracula from ninety two is getting a new four K release. They did have another four K release of this a few years ago and it was good, but this is actually an improvement. This is
going to have added special features. And then on top of that, I'm gonna see where can I highlight transfer? It's the exact same transfer. However, they are including the original theatrical English subtitle font for the texted instances, which if you ever watched the original Francis Ford Cope had this very like gothic font for the text that they put on there, and that was cut in almost every other instance of this film that's been released since then. And they
went back to the original for this, which I love. And then they are adding the music video for Love Song for a Vampire by Annie Lennox, and then Bloodlines Dracula, the Man, the Myth, the Movies. It's a featurette they're doing about Dracula. So kind of a cool thing for a studio to do, Like this is my my sister's favorite Dracula film. For somebody in my age, this is every sister's favorite. I grew up with with with Christopher Lee, and I grew up with with of course, uh,
the John Batham Dracula film. That's you know, that's my one ice on theater. I like this. I didn't love this movie when originally came out. Now that being said, I got there was four K. And the reason I didn't love it is as much as I love the actor Anthony Hopkins in this movie, dry Smith Wall, Yeah, he just really like he chews the scenery, like there's chewing the scenery and there's literally like I expected him to literally chew scenery. It was. It got that. Uh,
it got that ridiculous. So it's one of the most beautiful films, Oh my god. And I would definitely recommend it because if you like TRACTA films, definitely go and have. I'm gonna guess this isn't gonna be too pricey. Did you pick up the four K this before I did? And I only got it? I think I got it as a Black Friday title and exactly ten here and can exactly and that's about eight here. Yeah, just going through some of that. Let's see, this is one. It's
coming out in a steel book. I don't know if I mentioned that. Kind of an odd thing. They have not announced if this is going to get a regular re release of the four K with the new air everything. I don't know that I would say that's worth, you know, like thirty bucks or whatever it's going to be on release, it'll probably drop down on price fairly quickly, considering it is the second four K release of this film. But it is a good one and I love the cover. I bought
this. One of the reasons I bought the four K was because I managed to find it with the slipcover. And if you remember, like after all, this became a very hard slipcover to find, this slipcover for not this release of the steal Book obviously, but the original four K has sold on eBay for over one hundred dollars. Like many, many many times, video
Manon was asking about Monta Micabre being a partner label. He says, one of the partner labels I bought, said Monta Micabre and the label and the disc that is because of Apocalypse after the one that we just said, Monda Micabre has a million in stock because it was in partnership with Monda Micabre. They both released Apocalypse After Altered Innocence and Monda Micabre. So yes, it is an interesting time they work together on their own, but it was not
sort of a vinegar syndrome partnership at all. It's good to see so many companies that are working together right now. That's true, very very true. Keno announced that they are putting out The Extreme Adventures of Super Day from two thousand and I know nothing about this film. Somehow this went by me entirely. Did you see this one? I'm I don't remember. I have a
devisen super Dave. Oh my god. Yes. I used to watch Canadian Bazarireus come on when I was a kid, and it was the John Byrne Show, and Super Dave was one of the characters that he had on there. He's actually the brother of Albert Brooks in real life, so it's a whole gimmick because he's a stuntman that pretty much it's like mister Bill as a person. He pretty much like destroys himself every time. And I don't know if I've seen sy not, but I've seen most every super I'm just a
huge fan. Thankfully, this is getting a new audio commentary and that's about It doesn't look like any crazy big transfer upgrade or anything like that, but that's keno next one. This one is kind of silly, but may as well talk about it. Screen Factory is doing a replacement for their liner for the ninth configuration because the spine of this one said the ninth coin figuration and
had an extra letter printed in it. I have no idea why they went through the trouble of reprinting this, but it seemed to bother enough people that they are the Thing that really gets me about this which a lot of people have complained about the replacement programs, and you and I have talked about this, yeah too many times. The one I don't get this is this was a site exclusive release for screen Factory and they made everybody submit a proof of
purchase. You couldn't buy this anywhere else, and I had to prove that I bought it from them to them. How else would you have bought it? Exactly like I've gotten the non configuration right now. I didn't know by that edition about in the UK because I like the movie. But it's kind of silly that there's the like replacement for like well one letter. But okay, yep, and yeah they've got the record of everybody that bought it,
but they can't just send it out to you no problem anyways. I think they are relying on people not submitting for a replacement that way they can save on shipping, which I get that for the most part. Imprint just had a flash sail and unfortunately it just ended about like seven or eight hours ago. Imprint is very expensive and this was a great time for people to pick them up at thirty percent off. But it's in the past, so let's go to the next one. Speaking of Shot Factory, they have started a
going at a print sale with not a lot of fan faar. Not a lot of people have been talking about this one. Some of the prices are are genuinely good, and they've got some titles that people thought were at of print for a long time, and there is some stuff on there that they
seem to have brought back. I would suggest if you are interested in anything that either went out of print recently from them or was going out of print, they're not going to be cheaper than this probably ever again and it's right there. Wings freaking' Houser. I love wings Houser man. Any wings house that you have to get And what is crazy? When wings Houser started out, he was a soap romer star. He played a good guy, a really good gun, young the restless, so nobody thought he could play a
bad guy. When he went in like he went into God. They put out to vice squad to play the one what is now one of the ultimate bad guy roles, and they're like, we can't do it. You know, he can't, like this is a this is a nice guy, this is the the soap star. So he went in wings House are Insane and during the during his uh pretty much just the interview, and uh scared the hell of them right, and got the role. And he's been playing those
severals ever since. That's a fantastic film, too. Deli Force is fun anything, lynx Hauser. I mean, you can have the worst film in the world of wings Hauser's comes on Champagne Bullets. That will be I'm sorry, it'll be unwatchable. That f wings Houser wasn't that front. It's not that good of it. It's not that good of a bad movie. You get some movies. I got, what a fun bad movie? And I'm like, we're's swings hous Are or swings House. Oh yes, I'm saying
wings Will Smith's going on the screen. I'm good William Smith, not Will Smith. Nobody gets slapped. Well not that way. Yeah, Well, I think we're down to just a handful left for the week. Keno announced that they are putting out the cop from nineteen seventy. This is what I
definitely have not seen. This is a French film from nineteen seventy and it's getting a brand new four K restoration, new audio commentary by some of the best we got film historians, Howard Aspert, Steve Mitchell, and Nathaniel Thompson. This one, Uh, I am not recognizing any of these names. Really is huge, huge names for people. Have you seen or even heard of this one? Much? Heard of it? Yes? Seen it? Nope? My better half yes, Jenny Jenny Garko isn't it Uh. He's
a fantastically actor, a lot of did a lot of Spighetty westerns. One of the best episodes of Space nineteen ninety nine that gives everybody nightmares. That's him starring that one. So anybody has ever seen Space nine nine? I remember that episode where this guy keeps telling him that he saw this this monster, this kind of he p Lovecraft hand big like one eyed monster, but nobody believes him, and the cree tries this kind of weird like scary ass
noise. So if you're a kid. You watched the back thing, you had nightmares? Trust me, I did. Jenny Garko is the star of that episode of Space nineteen ninety nine, and he's the star of a bunch of Westerns. S Sartana. Maybe Sartana that he that he did. I'd have to look back, but I think he did Tartana. I've I feel like Francois Fabian has been in a few things that have come out recently as well. Oh yeah, and there's like there's a fea there. If my
better half not all these she loves this stuff. This is the stuff she grow it I read. I came back because I was looking at the other tab for the announcements, and I come back and everybody in the chat is talking about Greece and Grease too, And it's one of the funniest things I've seen it a long time. I was trying so hard not to laugh out loud while you're talking about that, I will throw out. Let's talk about Greece and Greece too. Okay, you were saying Greece two is the best.
Greece two is so campy and perfect. People that don't watch Greece too for some reason or crap on it. That movie is great. Go give it a watch again with like some less rose colored glasses, and it's so much fun. It is a great soundtrack. I know every I know every freaking word to Greece Too. When you when college Girls dated Aaron one of the the uh, I guess the task. The great test was watching Greece Too, because this was this was my favorite film as like I said,
like Horse, this was my favorite movie. I've watched this over and over again. Maxwell Callfield and my favorite actors and my shelf five for you a cool Rider reproduction. Tap Hunter is in this and he's so good. Uh. I like Greece for like Soccer Channing, I think she's fantastic, and I think Greece. Greece is a weird film, but especially like the message
that cross. Oh, Greece switches it around a bit, but at the end of the day it pulls back where Greece is like, you know, totally change yourself and who you are to get with the person that to get with the other person. So Sandy changes herself and Danny changes himself to so that they're unrecognizable to the people that they were in the beginning Greece too, like, oh, I'm going to become this like cool motorcycle riding type guy.
And at the end of it she likes him because use she actually kind of liked them anyway, and it's kind of see it throughout the film, so it goes back on that and Uh, I just love that film. I'm just got reproduction going through it and let's do it for a Country. Unfortunately, when the soundtrack came out for some reason, the girl that sings the steel for a Country with uh with the guy wasn't on there, so
it's only the guys. Interesting. Greece always made me laugh because the first movie, at least, they had people that were like almost thirty five playing sophomores in high school and made to look like they are pretending that they looked like they were perfectly good, you know, sophomores and juniors, and and they do not pull it off at all. Well, what's crazy. It's some of those same actors, especially the dancers, are in Greece too.
Yeah, this so yuys later. So you're watching like the uh, we're gonna score tonight when they're doing the big like bowling sequence and just look, you can see some of the actors from the from the on the first one, especially if you're into it, like I'm you see the dancers and stuff like that. And in the reproduction scene too, I'm like, they s are the oldest Hoscal sets of all the time, the oldest sense I've ever seen. It's almost like that scene and like that high school a comedy one
at the high school high where Steve the Semi comes out. It's like, hey, there, Fellows, says yep. Chester wanted to point out thanks to Aaron's Deep Discount video, I was made aware of the sale on the drive into Leyrium, Blu rays able to finish his collection for cheap, and I will point out too, based on that, that's exactly why you should stay up to date with Aaron's channel on my channel, because we talk a
lot about these deals and give recommendations and all those sales. If you really want to dive deep man my Patreon with the discord they get so many updates the things that I find online that are for sale or going out of print or something. I've got people pissed off of me because I keep giving them ideas of what to buy. I get that that They're like, you know, I was not going to end any money. Lams are great exactly.
Synaps have announced, speaking of the Fantasia International Film Festival earlier with Kat Ellinger, they are sponsoring the festival and they are showing world premieres of the four K restorations of the Deadly Spawn and Blue Sunshine. Now, the Deadly Spawn was announced as getting a new four K restoration from Synaps. I want to say, it's literally been like six years at this point, five or six years, and we are finally going to see this getting a physical media release.
It looks like it's gonna be sometime in twenty twenty three, hopefully. They have not confirmed that Deadly Spawn will be a four K. However, they have confirmed that Blue Sunshine will be getting a UHD from Synaps in twenty twenty three. Now, this is pretty awesome, especially for people that missed out on the old release of Deadly Spawn. Did I mean obviously you've seen Deadly Spawn once or twelve times? Ya that old release? It is not
great. Uh, this is one I'm desperately looking forward to. This is a fun, freaking film. Oh it's a cheap ass film, but it is so fun and so well done, especially for the budget, that this is one of these things that for people older like me, that you saw like the Box in the and it was a big ass box when not one of those small vhs but the big boxes, and you picked it up immediately and you brought at home and you'd watch it. Okay, guys, we
gotta watch Telly Spawn, and you'd re rent it. This was one of those re rentals. There's movies that you watch and your rent and at one time definitely spans that one of those films exactly one of the movies that you watch and you re rent a lot. Now, Blue Sunshine is a fantastic movie. It is a mind trip of a film, and I love that. Now that being said, I i'd watch I'd rewatched Telly Spawn more than
Blue Sunshine, but I still want both of my collection. And just like Christopher Silvestri says, Blue Sunshine has ad multiple this got a really nice blu ray release from I think it was distrib Picks. Yeah, it was destrib Picks a few years ago. And then this also got a four K from I want to say, like La Chak with Fume and France or somebody over there. But this one has seen a lot of love in the last couple
of years. Deadly Spawn, though, has never had a great transfer, and I am dying to see the world to just come together and rediscover what is Deadly Spawn because it deserves to be talked about. Yeah, it is fun. Next one, Chuck Connors and Terror Squad is coming from Quina Larber. This is from nineteen eighty eight. Well, I guess technically it's coming from Code Red via Quina Laber. This is getting a brand new two K master and a new interview with actor Kavi raz And that's it. What's coming
from corede. It is coming from Code Red and it's it's one of the new Code Red releases. Like this is not just to re release. This is one that's getting a decent looking upgrade and they're taking the Keynote partner that they have dove into pretty much headfirst and trying to utilize some of the resources to make some better releases. Cover. Yeah, that's actually correct, that
is true. So Tarror Squad. Have you seen Tara Squad? Yes, I'm VHS and never since, not because I didn't like it, but because it's just that was the time I was watching a lot of action movies and it wasn't it sin So yeah, I haven't seen it in a while. I can't remember if I've seen this or not. You probably did. Yeah, Well, I love Chuck Connors. That's the only reason that's making me think I might have. I love that they're highlighting his name and he's not
on the cover though. That's hilarious. John says, don't forget Dark Force is going four K. Supposedly they said in a stream the other day they're going four K. Interesting master chaos is here. He says, Deadly Spawn is a regional masterpiece, and I would agree wholeheartedly. All Right, a couple more left. We've got raw Deal starring Arnold Schwarzenegger coming to four K from Studio Canal. This is one. This is UK only, by the way, when I say Studio Canal, that should be semi obvious. But
just in case it's not, that is UK. I believe Lionsgate probably has the rights to this in the US and Canada, which means we probably won't get it released for it And I don't know why it's but it's four K. Guys like you can you can you can go grab this one. Put any four K player. You may not be able to play the blue ry desk you have a reaching free player, but four K is by far and large or region free, so you can buy this. Don't worry about it.
And it's Raw Deal. I love this movie. That was gonna be my next question. So, uh, I don't love Raw Deal, and in fact I would. I would agree with video Man in that Raw Deal is the only Schwarzenegger movie from the eighties. I don't know. It's honestly, I haven't seen it in ages. Knowing my more cultured taste now, I might like it a little more. I remember this. I remember buying it or like running it when it came out, and I was on a
big sports anger kick at the time. Too. Commando still is best Commando, Conan the Barbarian, That's That's and then you know, but still for me, those are the two great ones. But yeah, Conan, I'm the biggest Conan fan in the world. I don't understand how we haven't gotten anything regarding Conan at all from anyone. It is astonishing I could see that one selling so well for anybody. Conan serious, right, I'm not sure what the movie's rights are I know when it comes to the books is contentious.
Marvel loses the rights this year at the end of this year, So guys, if you want to buy any Conan comics, buy him now, because lord knows who's gonna put him at next and what quality that's that's going to be in. But yes, Rod Deal, so it is. So I'm also waiting on some of Arnie's nineties movies to get any sort of love and good releases. That would be nice. Anyways, Raw Deal, this is coming September nineteenth, and it is giving just like we talked about earlier,
a zombie Steel book. Raw deal you. I've got the link here if you want to check that out, you can buy it now. And this is getting Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Man who Raised Hollywood, some sort of featurette. We don't have a length on that one yet, but I could see some really good deep dives into how he affected film for a long time. Not sure if that's going to be an actual deep dive, but could
be good perfect I was right, Okay. Anybody that ever saw the TV series Friday the Thirteenth series and obviously fell in love with Roby, who was the lead actress in the series. She's an rod deal. So just saying, if you like Friday thirteenth the TV series, which you really should, Yeah, you want to to get this movie because she's not a big part, but she's on it. Nice. Sartis wants to share he got the first three Conan comics from Marvel and he paid fifteen cents apiece. That is
such a steal. I love the cone and stuff. I'm buying up as many onmous as and epics as I can right now. Next up one that I know you and I both have a love for coming on September twenty seventh in four K in the US, celebrating the twenty fifth anniversary. I know what you did last summer, and this is saying there's a new six deleted scenes and an alternate ending. That's the channel. Yeah, because I alternate ending. Is there another alternating? I don't know about it. I'm I'm
curious why they're calling it new. I'm really really eager for that. Maybe there is another alternating that we don't know about. I don't now to try. I buy that there's no ending, but either way, this is one of those that you gotta grab. Yes, twenty five years old, John, I feel old too, man, But it's a really cool film.
The second one is really good too, and the third one is utter crap, but uh, I would agree there, but it's uh yeah, still worth owning if you're going to get all three of them, especially because I watched I drunk watched the third one and I watched the through. But this is fantastic, And you know, Julie would say, you know, what are you waiting for? This is one to grab. This is uh if you have either never seen it or there is uh you know, a lot
of time spent from your last watch. This is a movie that a lot of people thought took itself too seriously, But when you watch it with the twenty twenty twenty two lens, oh, man, this movie is funny through and through. Uh. The second one's a little funnier, but they are both really great, genuinely great. Oh my god, yes, and like people like to hell did this movie take itself too seriously? Also, by the way, the TV series The lasted on Amazon for one season, pretty
freaking good. I was disappointed that didn't get a second season. It's nothing like this. It's still it's a Mystery Slasher one and it's a really good one actually, so I definitely recommend check that out. Everybody have different like opinions on it. Some people are upset that there's nudity in there for some reason, but you know, it's wasn't like on mainstream TV. It was like on EBBS and Amazon Original. Of course, violence like amped up a
lot actually expected for the violence. But uh yeah, I want to see your releaks of that too. But this I really want. I got the box set, but I still would like to give this too. Hopefully who's playing this one on This is just coming from the studio, so I'm curious if they are ever going to consider doing the second and third one. Because buried down here at the bottom of this press release, participating digital platforms will have I Know what You Did Last Summer available in four K HDR on this
date, along with four K HDR debuts. If I still know what you did last summer, and I'll always know what you did last summer, which means those could get four K releases down the line if they already have a four K scan of them. And you know what is the sads, I would buy both of them. You know what would not surprise me if the studio did the first one and they licensed out second and third one to Screen Factory. Oh, I would love that. Actually, I would love to
say that. I would just wish she did it for all three of them. Yeah, because this has you know, pardon the punt scream Factory, you know, screaming all over it. Well, yeah, it looks like they were inspired by scream Factory artwork. Here look at In other words, it's not great. I like it, it's good, it's it. You know, they got to do better. Remember the nineties, man, remember those head posters we got all this is better than a head poster. Those
were horrible. Yep, like that movie. Uh, I think you were one of the only people I know that have seen other than me. I think it's called Bleed. I love Bleed. It's weird put that out. It was actually, uh I remember because Charles Band from Full Moon, Yeah, he was. They put it out with Tamping video and Charles Band freaking
hates slasher movies. He like hates them with passion. But at the time they lost the rights to a lot of their characters, so they were working with tempting to do a lot bunch of stuff and Bleeds is one of them, and Bleed's got such a cool man. You got Bleed right. I think I've got the DVD. I don't think it ever got a blue release from anybody, No, just DVD. But it's one of those. I'm just I'm super red to a have just because of what it is. Yep,
it's a good movie. Uh, Planet Mondo, I completely agree. Why not just do a four K box set? It could be a double dip scenario where the studio is trying to get you to buy this this year and then all three of them next year. But who knows that that second and third one they may just think is too much of a money sink. But if they've got the scan, I kind of agree, just just release
them. Well, then they can't get you to buy this, and then the six muster a year later box set and say, hey, now that you got that four K, why don't you buy the You can buy the set now too because two extra movies. Yeah, and it has DeBras Messcas. Yes, that is the one, all right. I think we're down to our last one here I mentioned this earlier. Grasshopper Films is hosting a sale starting tonight at midnight and it ends on Monday, July fourth, at
eleven to fifty nine pm. I assume it's Eastern because they're based out of New York City. But they don't have a lot of sales, and this is a really good place to go for some semi obscure or semi underground Asian cinema and they do oh thankfully. Master Chaos says he also likes Bleed nice. They don't do a lot of sales and a lot of their stuff it just flies under the radar. Not a lot of people talk about Grasshopper films, so if you are interested, check them out. The big thing is
they put out Days recently. I highlighted that release. Gosh. I think it was March of this year when it came out something like that, and I believe that will be on sale tonight. Man, maybe it was not March. Maybe it was even earlier than that. COVID time I swear has made every thing going to the horrible words. Don't say that on you too, man. Gosh, Days came out in January of this year, so we're just about six months out. So yeah, it should be on sale
tonight at midnight. And their stuff is usually around like thirty five dollars, so I think sale on these will be about seventeen ish, and the limited edition items are gonna be twenty five percent off. But you can't really get them anywhere else. I think you get them on Amazon, but they're they're limited edition stuff. It's it's really nice. Grasshopper does really good work and just not a lot of people talk about them. And Dustin says so many
Honk singh Su titles. I agree. I think they've got like four releases something like that. Yes Days is very experimental. Agree, mash Chaos. I have none of these releases. Cross have releases. Actually didn't know there's so Crosshopper, so this one's new to me. I knew about the full munsoch I'm sure you're gonna get to but I didn't know about Uh. I didn't know about this one, so I checked my later on a full moon has a sale coming up this weekend, and then the other one. Did
it already start yep? Okay, we initially tried to start earlier on today. It was a glitch. I think I think it's one super cheap, so they about the site down, but I think it's like forty percent off or some of it right now, got it? So there's a handful that this one. I only wanted to highlight tonight because I know a lot of people have not seen Grasshopper. The other companies that are starting sales tonight or tomorrow, there's a lot starting so if you guys are I think somebody said
earlier that their wallet was dead. It's gonna be a big weekend for the smaller label sales, like we've got Grasshopper films now. I didn't even know about the full Moon one starting tonight, I thought or starting already. I thought it was tomorrow. And then Tempe Digital or Makeflix is having a sale this weekend. And then of course this little startup company called Criterion starts their Barnes and Noble sales starting tomorrow. John is it? John is asking if
that's true. It is absolutely true. It is going live the Criterion sale and still do this day. Man. I'm not sure if you're from here for Logan Toxic, but I can't hear the name Criterion sale. They're thinking of the song that he did for that, because even my kids know all the words of that song. Barnes and Noble sale will be live starting tonight or somewhere around midnight ish, and that is good for their website and in store. There's a lot of decent releases coming out in July from Criterion.
Those will all be on sale the moment they go live, so I will check those out. If we lived in an area with the like that had a Barnes and Noble with Criterion Cell, hin would do some serious damage. And when we used to like shop together first stuff before there we just became too many companies. As she said, okay, I'm out. Like the Criterion Cell was one where we every year we'd go in, We've put like a ton of stuff in the basket and then we'd like what we could afford.
And that was one of our big things to do. So hopefully down the road do that again. Chester asking doesn't Vinegar Sentrome announce some new titles tomorrow, Well, Vinegar Syndrome themselves, we already know that they they're basically the whole Vinegar Syndrome slate for July coming out tomorrow. We've got Riding Wrongs. That's the big one for most people. Those will be available for pre order at twelve oh one pm. Eastern, so right around noon. You
don't have to stay up late tonight or anything. But the other thing, we just found out they're releasing another VSA and they're releasing a Pikorama title. But also somewhere around thirteen or fourteen partner labels are getting announced tomorrow. They've said both numbers, so I'm not sure which one is true yet. And this is why I really appreciate right now and Arrow is putting at two releases. Yeah. Also, I would love to say I'm excited about a new
VSA master cast. It's for the cool video to translates his lip cover, which by the way, was hilarious and uh screw the people on Facebook that didn't like it. Uh, just saying uh so uh Yeah, I want to be excited about a BSA, but it's been a while since I was able to be excited about THESA. I mix the lineup again. Yes, please, I mean, like, just don't be another like really cheap action film. Don't be that, dude, please. I could see cheap action,
but I don't. I don't want Jeel Mary or Billy Blinks. That's my worry, that's my concern video man. And no, they are not opening the VS site in an hour and seven minutes. No that that is going to open tomorrow at noon. Noone, you can go to sleep. The next thing we always share is stuff that's getting released next week that some
people may have forgotten about. So let's go through that right quick. Uh. This is the first thing that video store said earlier tonight that I agreed with is that Everything Everywhere, All at Once is the best movie I've seen this year by a long shot. That is finally getting a physical release on
both four K and Blu ray. And as you see here, if you are into the whole exclusive slipcover thing, Walmart, of all retailers, is putting out in Everything Everywhere, All at wants exclusive slipcover for their four K release. Walmart does the ton of of They're one of the first people to start doing the sort of stuff, remember, like the extra discs and the books and all the type stuff they had. Unfortunately, where is Where's what
God Morbius to release? Everybody wants the great movie of the year. Now, this is what. This is a fantastic film. I gotta agree. Oakja is coming four K from Criteria next week. Virgin Suicides and four K as well. Edge of Tomorrow is getting a four K steel book. Let's see Hunted. I think that's coming from Mill Creek. Is that Milk Creek? Aaron? I think so yeah, I gotta did I get her a thing? Unhunted? I think Ants is coming from Keno Lorber. The Coverless
movie makes me itch every single time I see it. Miami Blues is coming from MVD rewind and Miami Blues is genuinely a really, really great film. If you have never seen Miami Blues, I highly suggest that one shout factory. I believe it was had recently or not recently, had previously put it out. And I'm just glad that this one is finally getting released again.
Tarantula's and Tear Out of the Sky are kind of filling out this trifecta of these small animal attacks films from Keno and I can't wait to get mine into those Hero with You and Biao and that's coming from eighty eight films. Short Us is coming from Ascilloscope, another one that a lot of people forget to talk about. Oscilloscope. Let's see, Oh, Christopher says the hunt of this Paramount, not Mill Creek, that that makes sense. I was gonna
say, why didn't I get that one? Bloody muscle Bodybuilder in Hell is coming from Visual Vengeance finally, although I hear that one might be slightly delayed to retailers, so we'll see on that one. We got a couple full Moon titles coming out Baby Oopsie and Bigfoot or Bust, and I think that's the last of next week's big ones. Oh, Mad Dog Morgan is coming to standard release next week because it's sold out so quickly from Indicator. That's
a cool film too. Mad Dog Morgan is great and Dennis Hopper is very drunk entire film. But it works for the movie, it really does. It works for his character, works for everything. Let's see you have a banned from that area because Justin Robbins says, if anyone is looking for something to watch this weekend, recommend Peter Strickland's new movie Flux Score Maids on vod Nice. What about upcoming releases? What are you most excited for people to
get their hands on? I know that you were in the process of moving, so not ordering much right now, but if you could, what are what are a couple that have been announced that you just can't wait? The amount of Aguins Franco releases is definitely way better than people are going to give a credit for until they get out and they're gonna realize it's not what they think it is. It's better than they think it is, so that that's definitely a big one. As for like upcoming releases, I know that there's
another Forgotten Jelly box that coming. It's in and I'm a huge fan of those, so that's definitely a big one for me. I don't know if it's gonna come in this year, but if it does, if seven finally pulls a trigger on it, and I would assume will come out, I'm gonna guess maybe September Black Manuel. If if it is this year, i'd guess, or a September or September type of release for Black Manuel. I
think this year. I think if we get it this year, it'll be U October because they gotta they got to give enough space for that Steckler release and then get when get released, I think it's August, Okay, well yeah then yeah, then then was going back to for sure if comes out and then November we would have the Black Friday sale, But it would be for me that will be that one of them that will be a big,
a massive that's set to get. And I know Black Manuel is not like everybody's bag, but un and if anybody watched my interview that I did with Andrew Furtado from seven, he alluded to like they just keep adding to it, which at that point, I mean, Black Emmanuel has a lot of films that they get attached to it. And if if they really are able to get almost everything, this is going to be a huge box set. It will well, I mean, like you know, there's a lot.
I mean like there's official and unofficial, because I think right now I might have only one of my collections. No too. I got Manuel Less Cannibals of course, and because you know everybody has to have that movie. It's fantastic. And of course Emmanuel in America. Uh the scene, the scene that scared me in the stable anyway. Uh. But that being said,
it's I love the Emmanuel films. The Lord Gimster Black Manuel series is different than the other Manuel series and that it's meant to be more as you got all Uni Day, but so a little bit more action driven, and that the taking Manuel and these make her like usually a reporter, so she usually comes across like in Blest Cannibals, she's going on ah, I can't say on here, but due to her some of her special techniques to use this so you have to find out where cannibal tribe is and has to go out
after them. You know what I'm talking about. But that was very well done. Thank you. I honestly if that comes out, that is one like topping my list for this year. Well, it's it's definitely still coming. We don't know if it's going to be this year. We've been hearing next year for the last I want to say two or three years at this
point. But if they are working on it that long and they've been able to set the standard with Milligan, with Adamson, with these Christopher release sets, and then of course with all the haunts, the hours, this box is going to be astonishing when it comes to that's my only thing. Please have a documentary, like even if it's an old that could give me a
Lord Camster documentary, you know that would be amazing. Daivin Gregory like he produces out of these and he's king at this time, he's king at this time right, and he's been doing featurettes sink since the Anchor Bay days, so I really hope and actually earlier than that, but that's when he started getting a name for it, So I I really hope, Uh, these boxes moving forward, like the Steckler one, we're not getting a Steckler documentary
and it sort of hurt. I'm I'm kind of surprised you need, I think for and it's a shame because for the for the Steckler set, I honestly think you kind of needed a documentary. Now they did put didn't They
put the Incredibly Strange Film episode under that. Yeah, that'll that'll go for Like I know it's not a new new but uh, Jonathan Ross did the series and I'm pretty sure you watched it, like me, Uh, that'll go for the documentary on this one, so that that's something that that the end of Milligan set didn't have going for at least this one here as the as the Johnathan Ross Incredibly Strange Film And for those that don't know Johnathan Ross,
uh is a British guy and he introduced really weird strange films people that had not seen it before. He did two seasons of the show. Series of the show was called then Incredbly Strange Film Show and the son of the Incredibly Strange Film Show. Yeah, the episodes with people like Ray Down with Ray Dan Steckler, Russ Myers, and a whole bunch of people like that, even like some more newer people at the time, like Sam Raimi. So trust me, when you get the Ray Down Steckler set, that'd be
one of the first things to watch because it'll give you an ideas. I just confirmed that is on disc one of the set. It is with Wild Guitar, and one of the special features says The Incredible Strange Film Show Season one, Episode two Ray Dennis Steckler. Yeah, that it's not season because it's pretty so serious, right, Yeah, I'm a stickler for that. I'm an angphone, so I completely get that. Other than that, I think that we are running to the end of our show for tonight. I
appreciate everybody hanging out. Let me see if there were any other major questions I missed, anything else people wants to know. This is the time to ask before we call it a night. I appreciate everybody giving the time on every Thursday. Again, this has been going almost a full year now and I've only missed one week out of the entire year of Recondact. It's been
a long time running. I appreciate everybody, Aaron, I appreciate you hanging out and in the meantime, like I said earlier, if you are looking for a deeper dive or just a community of like minded people to hang out that are really nice, really kind, really welcoming. The Patreon the discord that I have is just a really incredible community of people. And if you're looking to sign up description below, you will find the link. And I
think that is all I've got. Flickering says I would buy the incredibly Strange film show as a box set and a heartbeat. The rights are probably impossible. That's one of the ones that's a dream thing for me. I want to say both series is put on a set, and God, I'd love to see somebody do that. Because johnth Ross is still around. Man, It's true, very very true. Start says. A lot of them are on YouTube. Yeah, but don't like don't watch them on YouTube, so
they gotta put him out there. Heko. Okay, Lastly, as I talked about the patron, I want to talk about the current supporters. So here are those. Thank you everybody for making this work and making it be able to keep the lights on every week because none of us are getting paid doing this ever. Appreciate your time and we'll see you all on the next one. Have a good week.
