What's going on everybody? And uh man, I'm already laughing at this. John Peters is here and says what's up Physical media Collectors and Startist immediately answers with the price of gas. It ain't that the truth. I dealt with a flat tire this week, so I didn't have to worry about gas for very long. But you'll notice there's two faces tonight. And we also have a friend of mine, Sean food for Thought. He is from the Food
for Thought podcast and the recently released Talking Swords podcast. Welcome, right, Hey, I'm pretty good, pretty good, Yeah, glad to meet. We literally only have one episode of Talking Swords right now, still right, Yes, it's gonna be it's bi weekly, so the next episode will be next Tuesday, where we will be discussing Yo Jimbo and san Juro Yo Jimbo. Nice. Yes, So Flip, which most people on here are going to know, started a podcast with Sean called Talking Swords and it is gonna
be awesome. If you've ever listened to Hoover Thought, it is going to be a very role reversal type of position for Sean where he is doing most of the learning rather than the teaching. And it's good. I love listening to you guys. Yeah, it's a real nice change on food for thought. Obviously, I'm the one trying to get my wife and my best friend into kung fu films. But I've always had an interest in Japanese samurai cinema, yakuza cinema, but I've never really I'm only just dipping my toes into
it. So Flip is bombarding me with all these titles I need to watch, and I look forward to It should be a nice little journey for Flip is hilarious because he is a fount of knowledge on very specific things. But if you start talking about those things, you will never get him to shut up. Yes, he's an encyclopedia of Jarney cinema. Well, we got more friends with us tonight. Eric's here? What's going on? Dustin? Lissa flickering waves? Stendall might be leaving already. What's going on? Stendell?
Mike is here? What's going on? Mike? Glad you're here? Live? Dave Sarta says, I wreck my carb been waiting a month for parts. Jesus is that because of manufacturing? Holy God? What is going on there? Mitchell? Hey, Hey, I feel like I haven't seen you a while. Mitchell, what's going on? What's up? Jeff Martial Arts film freak? He's here for foo. I bet loving that nothing wrong with enthusiastic God No Flip is amazing to learn from. He's fantastic and uh
yeah, stand all took the words out of my mouth. Did you walk away uninjured? And I wanted to bring up right now, I believe the friend that I'm going to bring up watches each week, he's probably gonna be a few days late because he's going through a little personal tragedy. Do do a car wreck? And I hope everybody's safe out there. I just want to give that a moment, not not want to be dow or on everything.
What's going on, Antoine, so boutique physical media? You are branching out, We'll say, on a bunch of different things that you were learning about at the moment. What's the discoveries from physical media that you've made recently. Yeah, So basically I have no knowledge of cinema prior to let's say, I don't know jaws. Say prior to that, I am practically blind.
So I haven't seen many of the classics, right, so being part of your discord server and being being a patron, it's been nice to discuss the possibility of buying new titles that I've never even I've heard of, but never really So I'm happy to say that today I purchased my first slate of Hitchcock movies. I picked up the four K, the volume one of the four K set, which has what Real Window Birds, Vertic Go, and Psycho on it, so I'm looking forward to that. I also picked up
not as old as some of Hitchcocks films. I picked up Dress to Kill, which I've heard nothing but good things about. So I'm a big thriller guy. I like thrillers, and I feel like I've missed her out on some of the classic thrillers, so it's chice to go back. I'm familiar with horror, and horror has been a big genre for me, and obviously I know Kung Fu movies from the seventies. That's really my thing. But I just I'm excited because to be part of this community now and deeper into
the community. It's all good wilegoing on Twitter and seeing people talk about and I love that. That's fantastic, But to be part of a discord now where I can actually speak to people about these these films. It's opened a new it's opened a new door, and it's probably opened by wallet a little more as well. But I'm kind of excited for it. I'm looking forward to see what I can pick up and see and see with fresh eyes. That's why we're here, is the way. I'll say that, not to
necessarily open wallets, but to encourage the growth from there. And Yeah, I love our discussions in there. We've talked about so many different things, and it's just it's fantastic. Every single day there's some off the wall conversation. And we're going to talk about a few of the things we talked about today tonight. So dude says heard Flip says from Central Illinois. He definitely is, and he'll probably be there forever. Let's see. Ken's here,
what's going on? Mitchell says, Hitchcock. Hitchcock Volume two is coming. I think that's what led to us talking about that today. We were talking about what was in that second volume. Yeah, and then all that is. Man, Brian's here, what's going on? He says, A bought so many Hitchcock from Keno from that sale, there was a lot. And the odd thing with Keino, or the odd thing with Hitchcock, is that the best version of his films are sort of spread out with an odd tour
like that from back in his day. You would think, for the most part they would all be under one studio, but they've kind of been just off the wall everywhere. So it's, uh, yeah, it's it's hard to track them all down. Let's see. Stendall says all those man, I bought all this old stuff too, dude says, I hope you picked up number seventeen from Keno, very underrated early film that gets a lot of hate, but really shows his ingenuity doing the best he could with the crude
special effects of the time. And that is that is one of the best things about watching Hitchcock, because you can really track the growth and the earlier stuff he shows his like, you can see a lot of the vision. He was just kind of held back with the technology on some of it. And then after time and money, man does he explode. If you would have asked me prior to if you would have asked me last week how many films Hitchcock directed, would have told you seven, I would have told you
I have. I'm honestly, I'm completely blank on his filmography. I think it's very sad. I mean, I know of the classics, but I just did, for example, the films that some of some of the people in the disco brought up officers. I have no idea. I don't want to know what these are about. But that's part of the jinney, isn't it. That's that's the exciting pot yep And Mitchell says thirty nine Steps is an early favorite. I believe that as a Criterion release. Okay, and
yeah, the Criterion has quite a few of them. Kino's got a lot of them. There's some that are better overseas. Yeah, we'll get into the nitty gritty on the discord more. Speaking of that, Martial Arts film Freak says, how does one join a collector discord? In the description below, there's a link to my Patreon and if you join at least at the seven dollars level, you'll get invited to the discord and we do stock updates. If I find rare out of print stuff online, I post stuff in
there immediately. We've had a bunch of people been able to get stuff just because I posted it there. We talked about the sales, we go over recommendations and everything. Let's see, dude wanted to point out there are fifty three Hitchcock films and sadly one of them is a lost film with only a few stills that still exist. I have no idea that it was even close to that number. Yeah, it get it gets pretty crazy. And then I don't know if this is real, but the official Red Hood question for
you guys, what type of beverage would you like to drink? Could be nonfiction, fiction and anything that you have imagined what would it be? And then we'll get into our announcements. I'm trying to think of an interesting beerfage from well, specifically from a movie. Anything he says could be nonfiction or fiction. Les let's make it more specifically scoped and we'll say, while we're watching a movie at home, hmmm, anything in the world. I'm a
simple man of simple tastes. I would probably go for those of you that live in the UK. I obviously have a stupid accent, so I'm from the UK as you can tell, but I now live on America. I've been in American trolls on American trolls for years now, almost twenty years.
But there's definitely drinks from the UK that I miss ridiculously, so it would have to be something like and some people probably won't know what I'm talking about, but there's a drink called Vinto. There's a drink called Iron Brew, which I think you can get here, but it's not in many places. And then there's a drink called Tisa. Give me any of those three because
I haven't dragged them in twenty years and I really missed them. So if anyone wants to whip up a care package for me and just send me a shitload of ties of Vimto and Iron Brew, I'm down for that. Sara says Foster's lagger, and then an Asian movie enthusiast erics here he says the potion from Big Trouble in Little China I would throw out. My choice would be whatever they're drinking at that feast and hook. Even though it's imaginative,
imaginative, it looks amazing. So I will start sharing these announcements. Let's get into these Blue Underground. We finally got details on God Told Me to on four K. This is from Larry Cohen. Of course this is coming on July nineteenth. Have you seen any Larry Cohen films that you know of? Not that I know of, so I don't think so. I would suggest for somebody like you, the first one to go to would either be Q, The Wing Serpent or The Stuff. I think the Stuff is his
most accessible. You don't know how many times I've hovered over the play by nor a streaming service when looking at the stuff. So many times I've it and I don't know why, because it definitely looks like my cup of tea. It is probably slightly longer than it should be, but other than that, it is a delight. The stuff, for those that have never seen it, is basically about a version of ice cream that when people eat it they go insane and they start to melt and all this weird things. It's
one of those what I call goopy movies. Yes, like street Trash, Street Trash, Body melt. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so yeah, the stuff is great. I even have a little replica ice cream little pint container on my shelf over there. Love us so God told me to the synopsis here A rooftop sniper guns Down fourteen pedestrians on the streets of New York City. A mild mannered dad takes a shotgun and blows away his wife and
children. Just happy, happy feelings all around so far. A cop goes on a sudden shooting spree at the Saint Patrick's Day parade, and each of these unlikely killers makes the same dying confession God told me to. Now, a repressed Catholic NYPD detective must uncover another world of deranged faith, alien insemination, and his own unholy connection to a homicidal messiah with a perverse plan for the soul of mankind. This was written, produced, and directed by Larry
Cohen, who is honestly really great at what he does. He was a great writer, a really solid director. I also, I forgot I mentioned the stuff, but I also mentioned Q the Wing Serpent, And the big story with Q the Wing Serpent is it has this stop motion giant creature that they superimposed onto the movie afterwards. And famously he got off duty cops to come and act in a scene and didn't get permits to shoot at the top of this giant skyscraper that he was filming in. And it works so great.
It is fantastic. Is Q the Wings Serpent kind of notoriously bad? Or am I thinking of another film? Is it one of the like people do like commentary attracts for because it's it's not particularly well made, or am I thinking of something else it. I don't think that's the case, because I viewed as a genuinely pretty good movie. Okay, let's see there is another Serpent film I'm thinking of that might be something like sort of like Manos
the Hands of Fate type. Yeah, So, anyways, extras on this we are getting audio commentary with Larry Cohen, new audio commentary with Steve Mitchell and the God Troy Howarth, Heaven and Hell on Earth, interview with the star Tony lobianco interview with the special effects artist New Beverly, Q and A with Larry Cohen, Lincoln Center, Q and A with Larry Cohen, Trailers,
TV spots and all of that. Pre Orders coming soon. I think this is already able to be pre ordered on Diabolic if you're looking to lock it down so that you don't miss out, and one thing I will throw out and we've talked about this on the Discord server, but if you are just looking for the highest possible quality of any four k's of boutiques. Blue Underground is the way to go. I guarantee you that this is going to look incredible. This film is one that needed a restoration really bad and I
cannot wait to see this. Oh yes, this is what I absolutely have to have. And taking the words out of my mouth, I was gonna recommend for anybody that hasn't seen it. Flickering Wave, says King Cohen. The doc about Larry Cohen is so informative and fun, great overview of his career. And he did some wild stuff, like he worked with like street gangsters on some of his films, like actual gangsters to get done properly, writing things on the fly, writing a movie over a weekend and filming right
after that sort of thing. He was amazing. Let's see all that. His man says, I just watched Black Caesar and had no idea it was directed by Larry Cohen. It's so good. Yeah, he's great. Let's see what is next. Ah. Vinegar Syndrome announced that they are selling a limited edition timed limited edition screenprint for Easter and you can buy this until tomorrow
at five pm Eastern and that is it. Their prints are great and uh, this looks super provocative obviously, but I love that they are film canisters that she's dusting in the back there. What's going on movies by e So yeah, that is available at the site. And then we got some keynot announcements. We are getting two more Bob Hope classics, Never Say Die and Sorrowful Jones. Bob Hope is good. This one also has Lucia Ball Obviously
that's gonna be enticing for a lot of people. Any any old classic comedies that you're into. No again, I you know, I'm probably the worst co host you can have on this, not at all. I think old comedy has completely eluded me. The oldest I've gone is like some like It Hot. That's you know basically are you yeah? That's that's really And that's
such a visible classic now everyone knows that. But some of the classics that are classic films that just aren't in the public of high or in the public conscious of just knowing that they exist, I kind of missed out on. So I do need to go back and well, there's a bobload of films. I need to revisit it for the first time. Don't we all. And that's that's the whole point of loving this cinema. It's it's art.
It's something to discover. Up next from Gold Ninja Video, now available to pre order, we have The Iron Dragon strikes Back and the No Budget Wonder is what they called it, Duel on the River. So I'm assuming that Iron Dragon Strikes Back is right up your ally. Yes, you're you're definitely talking about language. This one. It's an absolute classic. It's it's a Bruce Whether you say Bruce Lee or Bruce Lae, I'm gonna Saycely, it's
a Bruce Lae classic. I know, I know a lot of people are put off by what's called Bruce ploitation films and don't really care for them. This one is if you're into kun fu films in general. This is absolutely foundantastic, such a good watch, just quite quite well made as well, considering it's a no budget old school kung fu movie with a guy pretending to be Bruce Lee. And I believe there's a bonus film hidden on there.
I believe that's the Lama Avenger. And I can say that Lama Avenger is probably up there is one of my favorites as far as Bruce Lives films, it's fantastic. Yeah, I've already pre ordered this, very happy to pre order it and hopefully get it soon. I will I will warn for everybody that Golden Ninja video well, and this is going to sound like bragging, it's not, I promise, but they were on the channel very early last year, right around when they're into Indiegogo went live, and they since then
have sort of exploded. So if you are looking for this stuff, like Thrilling Bloody Sword sold out very quickly, like way uncharacteristically quick for him, I kind of see this one going similarly, maybe just a little longer than Thrilling Bloody Sword, But yeah, I don't see this one lasting super long. So if you're into these and you want the limited addition from them,
please get this in as soon as possible. For the first time, Thrilling Bloody Sword is getting a sort of a standard release later, and I don't know if he's going to be doing that the same way for every release or if it's just because that title is so popular. It might also be the ones that he's actually doing the restoration work on that he's able to secure more of a basically an investment in it, So we'll see. I missed it first time around. I don't know how I missed it, but I did
this one. I leapt on and you know, in Kung Fu fan circles online, everyone is picking this up. Like the amount of people that are pre goldering it is crazy, So I imagine it's going to go pretty quickly. That is so awesome to hear. Yeah, oh yeah, it's great. Jeff wants to know, Hey, fo, how about old horror or sci fi? Have you gotten into any of those? We got a lot of fi fans in the chat. Yeah, it all depends on what you define as old. I suppose I am a massive fan and this isn't old.
I guess. I guess you can like talking about fifties and maybe sixties. I'm definitely like an eighties horror guy. That's really my I've got actually one of my pickups that I picked up this week, and then i'm I should just hold it up. I got the my bloody Yeah, so I'm pretty happy with that. So eighties horror I'm a big fan of. When you go into seventies, sixties, fifties, yeah, again, I'm not too well versed. Hopefully I will over the upcoming however long I collect for
hopefully a long, long, long time. But I'm definitely only yeah, dipping my toes into most things prior to the eighties. I would strongly suggest sooner than later checking out some of the horror and sci fi from the fifties, primarily because it is and this is gonna I sound like a slight. It's really not a slight. It is ambitious in the best of ways.
It is one of those situations where a lack of budget and a lack of technology drew out creativity in ways that I mean, I could never personally imagine. I'm so stoked that we're able to have those. Yeah, I haven't even checked out like the classic monster films, like the original Dracula, the Mummy. I haven't even checked those out, which is embarancing. Really Nah, that's it happens to the best of it. And some people, you know, they just don't like the films that are that old. I get
it. Yeah. Yeah. Next up from Keno, we are getting two film noir classics starring Esther Williams Unguarded Moment and Raw Wind in Eden. These are from nineteen fifty six and nineteen fifty eight, respectively, And these are a complete blind spot for me. I'm not a huge film noir person. I dove in a little bit, but not enough to know a lot of these deep hits or anything like that. So we'll go to the next one. This is one I love, you know a little more about. We
talked about this last week. Just want to throw out there. Tombs of the Blind Dead from Synaps is available to order already. You can order it from Synapse or Diabolic DVD. It is going for fifty dollars, and we've talked about the Synapse pricing before. It is very high. It is way well. I won't say it's like shockingly higher than I think it should be, but for something like this, I think forty dollars would have been a
really nice sweet spot. Fifty seems just slightly out of what I would consider reasonable for this. And the good good news for things like this is the Synaps steel books. They tend to stay in stock for a while, they don't really go and sale. But if you're really wanting this, you can probably budget for it. But I will say, have you seen Tombs of
the Blind Dead? I haven't. I actually once this was real little while the announcement was made for this one, I hopped online and I watched a whole bunch of traders for it and a whole bunch of reviews for it. And it looks like something I would absolutely love. It's really it looks it's what year is this? It is nineteen Let's see. I don't have it on there because that was just the release. It's it's fine, but it
looks I'll find it second. It looks like kind of like a like it seems to have to like the same air as like the Beyond Faultyes, the Beyond. It seems to have like like dark eerie air to it, or like House by the Cemetery have both of those, which I absolutely love. And when I saw the trader for this, I was like, I've got to get it. Then I saw the price and I was just like, it's a blind bye for me. Do I pull the trigger? Don't I? So it's on my maybe list. I just I'm not sure if I'm
going to pick it up yet. It is correct. It is nineteen seventy two, by the way, Okay, okay, and the sequels to this, but Synaps don't have the rights to those, And speaking of that, Eric says, isn't there a box set coming out? And we don't know
for sure yet. However, if you look at the Arrow when they did the hints for twenty twenty two with their little hand drawn list for all of the twenty twenty two on the twenty twenty three list that they are hinting at even further, there is one that says TTBD box and there is not many things that have that initialism. So I'm kind of assuming that that is going to be a Tombs of the Blind Dad box set. And here Scream Factory put out in Nine of the Seagulls, which is one of the sequels,
So it's up in the air. If it could happen. I mean, Scream Factories lost the rights to a lot of stuff over the last couple of years. It's possible, but I think that if it was gonna happen, it probably would have happened already. I also don't see the rest of them getting the same kind of love that this one did, since this is the most known one, right, So if we are going to get something from Errow, I assume that that will be as good as this release for the
first movie and include more content. Just to comment, this is the first one correct in the series. Okay, okay, great, Yeah, I will definitely pick this up. I think at some point I know it probably won't go down in price, so further down the line, I'll probably do a blind buy of it. Right, So let's see what is next and
at least once a week, gotta do it. Speaking of Tombs of the Blind Dead and things being better, we had a lot of people ask if there was a four K coming for this and they said, currently, no plans for a UHD. We were only provided with a two K scan by the film's licenser. We do have four K rights and hope to make one someday, but not until we get a four K scan, which tells you they're not even working on a scan for this film. They are hoping to
have it literally gifted to them. And then they say for a box set, we only have the rights to Tombs. The other films are tied up with other companies like Screen Factory, and then for a standard edition, which would the normal like twenty five dollars Blu ray. This is so classic Sinneps. It is not on our current production schedule, never say never, but not anytime soon, which means that we'll probably have one and it'll probably be
like early next year. And oh yeah, they put Tunes of the Blind Dead, and I told myself I wasn't gonna buy it, but now it's here and it's twenty three dollars, so of course I'm gonna buy it. Wouldn't it be nice if more bootique labels put out stuff like this? Though? There's these little announcements. I mean, if if you think about At eight Films, for example, you know, they put out Dragons Forever, then they put out a Dragons Forever steel book, and now they're putting out
dragons Forrev. Four K. We did announce that early on and give people an idea of what's to come, because you know, as such as I love dragons for EVA and I have the standard Blu ray of it, and I love it to bit. Now I really have to consider buying a fork, which I probably will. Known me, I'll probably buy the four K, But I just I wish more announcements like this Cane they they that's so
helpful. The only thing that I will say about the eighty eight films thing is that the big difference is Dragons Forever four K is now a US release, not yes, the UK release, so that is a big plus. Yes, let's see martial arts film. Freak says random question, has anyone heard any potential for Born to Fight from eighty four getting a Blu ray? I don't remember offhand. No, I don't think there's been any announcement so
far. I personally, I think it's unlikely that anyone will pick up that film just because it's kind of unknown you But no, you know, with someone down the line, might it would be ideal for someone like Vineger Syndrome to pick up. To be honest, it's a super low budget Thai martial arts movie that's obviously had a remake, and a lot of people know about the remake. But it would be great for them to pick up like a and put that out as a special edition. But I just don't see it
happen. I just don't see it happening. But hey, what do I know? I get that. Then we got a round of announcements from Criterion, and this was such an odd week for Criterion, so they had all of their announcements get leaked because somebody trolled through their forums and went through the url scheme and found all of the URLs for what was going to get it released, which I'm going to say right here. I said it on Twitter,
but I'll say it again. If you have to go that far to get details on a release, you're doing something you probably shouldn't be doing. Yeah, it's I mean, you're taking all the wind out of Criterion sales and out of any company. This has happened to Vinegar Syndrome. Similar things have happened to Screen Factory. Just let the companies announce them. Come on, yeah, yeah, And how long before Criterion announced it did they even
get those releases? I think it was three days? Yeah, I mean, what's the point, just unless they pushed Criterion to announce it early, which I guess could be the case. Point, just like, let companies announce their own I agree. And for a lot of these companies it's literally an event. I mean, Criterion has a couple days every month where they always do release announcements, and it was so weighted on this month that they
delayed their release announcement by a day. No idea why, they never said why, And then the next day came the time that they always do it and they delayed again and it always like what the hell is going on? Yeah, it's definitely an event. Eureka. I always wait for Eureka's announcements. They released that little coming Thursday and they have like a background picture. You might be able to work out what one movie is for that picture.
It's exciting. I love waiting for that. It's like Christmas. I agree. So this one is kind of a big deal. We are getting on July fifth in four K and Blu Ray. We're getting oak Ja from twenty seventeen. This is of course by Bong June Hoe. And the reason we're getting this, I believe, is because of Bon June Ho. We're going
to be getting a lot of his films. And the reason this is such a deals because this was another one of those Netflix only films, which gives more of a hope for some of these past films they had been doing, like The Irishman. We've got news of a couple more that are coming, like they did the Divorce movie I can't remember, Marriage Story, Marriage Story, that's the one, and Oakja, and then they've got a couple more that we know about, but I didn't think they were gonna go this far
back. Honestly, it sounds weird to say twenty seventeen, it's this far back, but it's true. I mean, for them to dive into things like this, there's hope for some other ones to potentially get releases soon. Yeah. I was just talking about, obviously, the stats that come out about Netflix's subscribers and how they're losing subscribers, and I just thought it. You know, personally, I can never cancel Netflix because they have these movies
that I want to watch again and again. Martial Laws film Freaks just mentioned When the Night Comes for Us watch the film over and over and over, and granted, as far as I know, it does have like a eight Hong Kong Blu ray or a Thai Blu ray, so I could technically pick it up, but you know, it's easy to to stream it. And I think it's I think it's great that a company like Criterion are picking them up, although Criterion SAFI will not pick up The Night Comes for Us very
unlikely. Well, and it would. What I was gonna say is, if you're losing this many subscribers, how about your release some of your films on physical media, to make up some of the money. Exactly exactly. I couldn't agree more. Eric, who is the Asian movie enthusiast so he knows, says Oakja is Bong's weakest movie. I'm still behind on Bong Juno. I've only seen a couple. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of them. I've still not seen Oakja, but I'm glad that we're getting it
in four K as well. That's kind of a big deal for this And for those that don't know, this has a huge cast. So this has Tilda Swinton, Paul Dano, Stephen Yun, Jake Gillen Hall, and it is a South Korean girl growing up on an edenic mountain side with her grandfather and best friend, Okja, a giant, empathetic suit pig created as part of a secret GMO experiment. When Oakja is abruptly torn away from her Miha, embarks on a perilous rescue mission that places her at the center of a
sinister corporate conspiracy. While Bong's trademark virtuosic set pieces dazzle, Oakja's beating heart is the connection between a girl and her super pig. That's a sentence I never thought, I'd say, made all the more poignant by the brilliant special effects that bring to the animal, sorry, that bring the animal star to unforgettable life. This has HDR on it, so it's going to be a true four k UHD. New conversation between Bong and the producer. New interview
with some of the actors, New interviews with members of the crew. Short programs including a director's video diary including actors like Paul Dano, j gill In, Holland till To Swinton. Teaser trailer. Importantly, though also no commentary. This will have an essay by critic Karen han or Han but no commentary, which is interesting. I'll probably pick this up. I haven't seen it either, but I think this slate of Criterion releases are very appealing to me.
I think I'll be picking up a number of them. I have to be honest. I think that this is the best month of Criterion announcements possibly ever. Yeah. I understand that they are not the best movies that they've ever put out, but as a joint month, they were all like ooh, okay, I can get behind this. So let's see Jeff's asks. Which film is Bong's Monster movie and that is not the host. Yeah, yeah, sorry, I won't all over you. Then you're good. You're
good. The host. Have you seen the host? I'm sure you have. Oh yeah, yeah, the host is great. The host is so much fun. Yeah, and then the ending is a gut punch. But hey, Dustin says, hopefully the booklet fits in the case. Could not? Could not possibly? Like if I could upvote you twenty seven times, I would. Yeah, the host is great, but man, I really wish that they can get their packaging stuff together. Coming out in July as well, on July fifth, perhaps in four K The Virgin Suicides. This
is Sofia Coppola's debut feature and it's a great movie. There is nothing new on it. It is just a four K release, but it is really good. They released it prior Criterion and on release. Oh okay, okay, I didn't know that. Yep. Moving to the next one. Kind of the biggest announcement of the month, probably we are getting Raging Bull in four K and Blu Ray. This is coming to the Criterion Collection for the first time. This is made by a little known filmmaker named Martin Scorsese.
Am I saying that right, he created one of the truly great and visionary works of modern cinema. Robert de Niro purs his blood, sweat and brute physicality the Oscar winning role of Jake Lamada, and most people have seen this.
I just want to go to the extras. Here in the four K. We are getting an H four K release and one Blu ray with the film and special features on it, So it is going to be a dual format release if you get that four K. There are new video essays by film critics Jeffrey O'Brien and Sheila O'Malley on scor Scorsese's mastery of formal techniques and the film's triumvirate of characters. Now, this is where I see releases like
Okja and get a little jealous. Here because three audio commentaries featuring Scorsese and editor film a Schoonmaker, director of photography Michael Chapman, producers Robert Chartoff and Irwin Winkler, casting director, music consultant, actors and sound effects supervising and and boxer Jake Labata, and screenwriters everybody. I mean, that's how you do it. This is gonna be a killer release. That's amazing. Yeah,
out of forts to picking this one up. I have a story about this film actually, So when I was in my early teens, I told my mom basically, I told it, Mom, I'm gonna be a fan. That's it. This is what I'm gonna do going forward. I'm gonna start collecting movies. I love movies for Christmas, all my birthdays. I want you to buy me nothing but movies. And she bought me Raging Bull on DVD back then, and I threw it back out her and said, I don't watch black and white movies. And yeah, I refuse to watch
it because it was black and white and I wasn't a fan. And do you know what, I've never seen it since. So this will be an idea of release for me because obviously I know it's absolutely legendary. I don't know why I've never seen it. It's just something I've never caught up with. But this is Yeah, this will be pre ordered right away, definitely coming my way. That is awesome. Ye, Jeff asks, is this
scorsesees best film? And I will answer that by saying, you could probably make a very strong case for about fifteen different movies being scorsesees best film. Yeah, definitely for me. Is this my favorite Scorsese film. No, it's not even in my top ten probably, to be honest, I like it for sure, but I think that some others are quite a bit better, and I enjoy them a lot more. But I will also agree with Hans Limberger, love that name. By the way, black and white films
look amazing in four K when it is done right. It is astonishing what old black and white films can do. And the HDR that makes the black not like this dull gray, but a deep dark night black is so beautiful on the right TV. Yeah, I'm excited for this one. This is this is one that's high up on my list. I can't wait to say it's nice. We'll have to call my mother and apologize, maybe send her a copy of something. This also has three short programs highlighting the longtime collaboration
between Scorsese and Robert de Niro and more. There's other special features that I couldn't fit on here because the Instagram character limit said no. And then there's also essays by poet Robin Robertson and film critic Glenn Kenny. What I was going to say is that this release is easily going to be the best release of July. If you're looking for just one to start with, this is
the one. However, historically, July is the month of the Barnes and Noble Criterion half off sale, so if you're gonna be maybe budgeting for that, July is a killer month to do. And when they get released during the sale, they are on sale, so look out for that good stuff. Next one coming on July twelfth from Criterion is Summertime from nineteen fifty five. This is a David Lean film and this stars just a little known actress
named Katherine Hepburn. This has a new four K digital restoration, new interview with film historian Melanie Williams, interview with the director from nineteen sixty three, audio experts of an eighty eight interview with cinematographer Jack Hillyard, a trailer, subtitles, and an essay. Really not a whole lot on this disc. I have not seen this one, but people that like Katherine Hepburn says great.
David Lean also just a phenomenal filmmaker. This is one that I'm not gonna be able to provide much context on, so We're gonna go to the next one, which everybody is clamoring for, and that is Drive My Car. This is a very recent film. Did you watch Drive My Car last year? It's been on my list for the longest time, and obviously it's it's over three hours. I believe it's close to three hours. I just haven't squeezed it in yet. I know it's streaming on HBO right now,
and it's just I just haven't managed to fit it in yet. I will very very soon though. I think it might be on Hulu as well, so if everybody wants it. I think that there's actually a couple options for this one. But I gonna be honest, I have fallen to the same trap. It is. It is under three hours, but just so it
is two hours fifty nine minutes. So I with two young kids and a very busy life and you guys, to satiate throughout the week, three hours has a lot to put on A one film like my wife is dying to see Batman and that got released on streaming like nine days ago or whatever, and I haven't even started it. Damn near impossible. I've had the last three days off and I still don't have time to watch The Batman with her, but drive my Car. This is obviously a very lauded film from last
year that everybody just loved. There are some people that said it's a little long in the tooth, obviously at three hours, but it also feels long to some people. So if you don't like slow going movies, this may not be one that you love. But for those that don't know, drive my car, says only Ryusu k Hamaguchi. Sorry that was way wrong.
Ryusu k Ha'magucci, with his extraordinary sensitivity to the mysterious resonances of human interactions, could sweep up international awards and galvanized audiences everywhere with a pensive three hour movie about an experiment staging of the Anton Chekhov play, presented in nine languages and adapted from Haruki Murakami stories with Draimkar, the Japanese director has confirmed his
place among contemporary cinema's most vital voices. Two years after his wife's unexpected death, Yusuke Kafuku arrives in Hiroshima to direct a production of Uncle Vanya for a theater festival, and through relationships with an actor with whom he shares a tangled history and a chauffeur with whom he develops a surprising rapport, finds himself confronting
emotional scars. This quietly mesmerizing tale of love, art, grief and healing is ultimately a cathartic exploration of what it means to go on living when there seems to be no road ahead. Now this has a new interview with the director program about the making of the film, featuring behind the scenes footage, press conference footage the can International Film Festival is included there on the conference footage, a trailer, and new English subs with an essay, but again no
commentary and pretty light for something like this. Yeah, I'm not sure I'll pick this one up. I do definitely want to. It'll definitely be one I want to see before. I wouldn't blind buy this one, even though it's you know, been quote about and hailed this this fantastic film. I don't think I would just buy this one right away. This is one that I believe this was shot on film, but it's only a two K digital
master. I don't know what's going on with that. I almost expected them to do a little better with it, but obviously they they I won't say they rushed it out, but this is a very quick release for a metique for something that literally just did the circuits. So yeah, here's another big one, Devil in a Blue Dress coming in four K and blu ray.
This is the first time in the collection for the Denzel Washington film. And this is one that people are gonna know because Indicator put this out not too long ago and a lot of people picked that one up because this is a fantastic movie. If you've never seen this, this is from nineteen ninety five and it has some decent stuff on here. We got a new four K
restoration approved by the director and it does have Dolby Vision HDR. And we got audio commentary featuring a Franklin new conversation between Franklin and Don Cheadle, new conversation between Walter Mosley, the author of the novel on which the film is based, and novelist and screenwriter at a CAA Locke. And then there's an on stage conversation between Franklin and film historian Eddie Mueller. And that's about it, which this is a decent release. This is like what I would think
most of them should be right. Another film I've not seen. I've heard you know nothing but praise for this one. I will definitely be picking up because I don't even know what it's about, to be honest, but I'll definitely pick it up. I mean, it's Denzel, it's great. He does wonderful in it. Yeah, thanks for this flickering, flickering, says drive. My car was shot digitally and it was put out theatrically in two
K, so we should never get a four K for that one. So I get that if we do get a four K, it'll be a foux k basically fox foux there or faux Why'd I say fo? Then to change gears from Criterion, we are getting Frisky Fairy Tales double feature from make Flix and Retromedia. Onto the classy stuff now. So for those that don't know, Retromedia does a lot of basically the skin Imax type titles. This is Cinderella's Hot Night and Sleeping Beauties, both from twenty seventeen. Uh, don't
expect a lot out of these. It is just a bunch of softcore hilarity with poor acting. But a lot of people love that stuff. I've got a few of them here myself. Uh yeah, that's enough. I saw this. I couldn't work out whether it was like I couldn't work out whether this was just a parody film or whether it was flat out, you know, smut. I just I couldn't work out what it was. But now that I know, it's just soft core, you know, yeah, asking
the max stuff, that's that's fair. A lot of these movies they do exactly that. They don't know if they're a paroding and they don't know if they're smut, and somehow they end up right in the middle. Yeah, I don't think I'll be picking this one up. Let's see. This one's not important because it's already passed. But a Silloscope always support the company. They had a four to twenty sale they always do, and it was good
stuff. Then we got some surprise titles from screen Factory slash Shout Factory. The These next three are all limited to only fifteen hundred units and you can only get them from their site, and from what I heard they are, they are selling pretty well. This is around that a lot of people were actually excited to see the films. You'll see that there's not real great special features on any of them, but they're actually good stuff. So first is
Warren Oates and cock Fighter. With a name like that, you'll know that there is going to be some animal stuff that might turn some people off in this film. This one does have another Blu Ray release with a really good documentary on it, so if you really want that documentary. Gosh, I think that was an Asian release. I want to say, I haven't seen that one in person in a long time. But yeah, this is the first time on the US on Blue for this. And then the next one
is Watchers too. This was the Corman produced film. Obviously, if they're putting this out as a side exclusive, I'm willing to bet they can't get the rights to Watchers. And that's why there's no special features on this. The only special feature that they had list was a new two K scan. That's not a feature. I don't remember this one being that good. I mean I watched this when I was a teenage I didn't really stick in my brain, so I don't recall it being that good. Right, Flickering Waves
says, just read that Frisky fairy Tale sold out its initial run. Make Flick's already working to restock it. Flickering. That's because they literally only put up thirty copies of that double feature when they mask. So yeah, that's how Retromedia does it. A lot. They sell out and then they go back and stock a lot. Unfortunately, it's an odd way to do business. But hey, then the classic Marvel film Doctor Strange from nineteen seventy eight,
I almost couldn't say that without just busting out. This is coming fifteen hundred units. The big thing is that this is going to attract a lot of people to shout factory, probably for me though, I've never seen this, but it has Jessica Walter and the trailer looked hilarious. Yeah, I kind of really want to see this, so I might be adding this. Yeah, I think it falls in line with, you know, the old school Captain America film in the Fantastic Four when they put out. Yeah,
I think they're all equally as silly. Now we would look at them as silly, so I think they're a whole lot of fun. Yeah. I haven't watched this one though. Yeah, and this one has been very difficult to see for a long time. And the cool thing this is the one out of the three with actual extra so this has a new high def transfer, again not an extra new audio commentary by pop culture historian Russell Dieball and the Panel Jumper host Cole Hornaday, So it has a commentary. At least
there's something on there. I at wish they would do that for all of them. Yeah. Again, another four to twenty sail that happened that you can't get now. Then we got some more release details from Keno on a couple of these titles. I'm gonna go through these kind of quickly because we talked about these a couple months ago, but now we have a lot of information on the special features. So July fifth, we are getting ants,
which is also called it Happened at Lakewood Manor. And one thing I wanted to point out on this, because I just found out from Keno, is that when they have the picture set up like this with the slip cover, the cover art, and then the reverse cover art, that is when that they know that they were given rights for the reverse cover art. If it's only showing one picture, it will not have reverse cover art because they couldn't
get the rights. So they're actually being transparent about that on every single one, and you'll see why that's important. Just second, But this is, like I said. July fifth has a new two K master and includes both the television and theatrical versions of the film with different aspect ratios, and then tons of special features for this little film. New audio commentary by Lee Gambin. New interview with actress Barbara Brownell. New interview with actor Barry Van Dyke.
New interview with actress Anita Jillette. New interview with actor Moosey Moosey Dryer. I hope that's the name. Otherwise I'm sorry. New audio interview with production assistant and daughter of producer Alan Lansberg, Valerie Landsberg. Newly commissioned art by Vince Evans, and then a slipcover. This one looks decent, got a lot of obviously, it makes me want to itch myself just looking at
this. Yeah. Absolutely, I think I'll pick this one up. Actually, I know nothing about I've never seen it, but I love kind of I love movies that have this sounds stupid, but I love movies to have bugs and them like I love slugs, no movie slugs. Yeah, love that. And I love a rachnophobia. And I also like the somewhat titilating cover on this. I'm a pud not intendave, but I'm a big fan. Yeah, so I might actually pick this one up. I've always loved
creature features, and things like this are like Creature feature minus two. That doesn't make any sense, but that's what it feels like in my head when I see something like this. Absolutely, and speaking of that, I believe the next one. Okay, So there's one more. First. Invaders from Mars in four K from nineteen fifty three is available to pre order now and it's limited to only a thousand because it includes a poster signed by actor Jimmy
Hunt. And if you use this Invaders TCM twenty twenty two discount code, you get free shipping. Now. That's important because they are charging seventy dollars for this now. It is a four K with a sign poster, so if that's your bag, get it. There are a couple pictures here of the restoration and clearly looks great. Not one that I was super pumped to
get, so I'm not jumping in on the four K of this. They have not said either way if there will be a standard Blu Ray and four K release, but I'm willing to bet that this will get a standard. Yeah. Yeah, it seems like this is the big one to push it out first, and then it'll come later on yep. And then this one.
They have a feature out of interviews with Jimmy Hunt, William Cameron and a whole bunch of others involved in the film, before and after clips of restoration just so they can show you how much work they did, and then restored segments in two K of the alternate international version gallery with the original press book pages behind the scenes photos from the restoration because there they are super proud of this restoration obviously, And then there is a twenty page s say only
on the restoration process. Jesus, So if you are really interested in film restoration, this may genuinely be a good one to pick up. And then Flip is here and says two bears one stream that sounds like a urine pull out, and that's because he loves us both. That's very nice, Flip, uh man, where is the other one? Okay? First from Unearthed Films on July fifth, we are getting the Old Man Movie and this is
a claymation film. And first off on Earth Films does a lot of great stuff, but this one is very different than what they normally put out. But if you haven't read it, read this synopsis here. Pandemonium ensues when the old man and his grandchildren have twenty four hours to find his cow before the unmilked utter explodes and causes a milk core disaster for the town. The group encounters despicable hipsters, wild boares, desperate lumberjacks, and a stubborn bear
suffering from constipation on their adventure in the countryside. If this is safe for kids, I am absolutely showing this movie before the end of the year. Knowing Unearthed, though I imagine it might not be. They don't tend to lean towards family friendly stuff at all. However, the very bottom of this cover here says Unearthed Animation, and I don't think that they would have that if it was just because it was a funny claymation film. I have to
check it out. But yeah, this looks great. Finally, here's the other one I was talking about. So Tarantula's The Deadly Cargo is also coming from Keno, and this one you can see they do not have rights to alternate artwork for this the only one that they can put out. Is this one that's on the slip and that's what you'll get when you take the slip
off unfortunately. So this is also coming July fifth, brand new two K master new audio commentary by the Made for TV Mayhem show Podcas asked host Amanda Reyes, Dan Budnick, and Nate Johnson, and that's it fun release. It's got some big names in it, famously Tom Atkins is in this and I adore tom Akins. Yeah, this will be another one. I think I'll pick up just yeah, maybe I'll I'll go on a bug binge.
Yeah, pick the ounce on the translates up. My kids, who I've talked about before, both have autism and one of them also has ADHD. We were driving to therapy one day and my oldest in the back of the seat says, Dad, can you pause the music for a second? And I said sure. He said, what's a tarantula? I don't know where
that came from, wasn't in the music, just out of nowhere. So we spent the whole ride talking about tarantula's And when we got to therapy, I showed him a little video on my YouTube and he was like, these are amazing. So if this is clean enough, I might show him this before the next couple of years. But I think this is a made for
TV movie, which means it's probably a clean film. It's seventy one, so right one or seventy seven seventy seven, so maybe you know it's before the ultra Gore kind of era, so it could be yeah, it could be fun. It's on the CUSP. Yes, this one not a lot that I'm going to put onto this. This is not an announcement obviously. This is just for me. Just wanted to kind of send this out.
Nothing led to posting this, but really wanted to share. If I miss something and you want it shared to the announcements, or if you want more love on an indie film, or if you have somebody that you think would be good on the show, let me know. DM me on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, or I put my email in here. I am more than happy to help. And if I miss something, I'm just one person who works a hell of a lot and I'm going to miss things. But
that's it and the last thing to talk about tonight. As far as announcements, Keino announced today that they have this handful of films that are going to be removed from their site by the end of the month. So they have had these on there going out of print sale for quite some time called the Wild Supplies Last Sale, and these they are not going to be allowed to sell after the end of April. So if you are wanting any of these one too, some of them like twelve fifteen films, make sure you get
the orders in. And they are cheap, like, let's see, there was one that I've seen, A Strange Adventure. A Strange Adventure is pretty good. It is like less than five dollars right now. Oh wow, So if you were wanting it, obviously, their free shipping threshold is fifty bucks, so if you can get to that and save, you might be on to something there. But yeah, a lot of these are cheap. Go in there. See what you got. Speaking of what you got,
how about you share what you picked up recently? Yeah? I got well about five or six here. The first two are the new Eureka releases. I forget you got those. Yeah, bring out the Kung fu films first. So there's knock About, which is the Samo Hung Yung Giao classic directed by Samo Hung and then the other one is Dreadnough, which is also a Yung Giao film. Strange film. I watched this the other day, and it's like Yumu Ping's attent at Yallo. At times it feels like a Jallo
film. At times it feels like a typical Hong Kong comedy. And it's actually pretty low on fight scenes. Surprisingly, it doesn't have a lot of action in it until like the last twenty minutes. But the last twenty minutes is worth the price alone. It's it's fantastic. Not exactly high cinema, but I did pick up the four K set of Bad Boys and Bad Boys Too. Yeah, that is high cinema. I actually watched the third one the other day, and because I hated the third one when it came out,
and then I watched it. It's not as bad. It's not as bad as I remember. I've loved seeing you reevaluate those films on Twitter. Yes, yeah, it's surprising. Recently I went through what was it? Bad Boys three? I watched the last die Hard film, A Good Day to die Hard, and I also watched the three hundred sequel, three hundred Rids of an Empire. I've still never seen that one. Do you know
what, It's good. It's actually really good if you if you watch it without three hundred in mind, it's just a great action film and it looks fantastic. It's it's really good. I mentioned it earlier. Got the obviously the Steel Book My Bloody Valentine. This is the original. This is not the remake, although I do quite like the remake, and that Steel Book is great and the restoration looks incredible on that. I can't wait. I can't wait to watch it. To be honest, I don't even think I've
seen My Bloody Valentine uncut. I think I've only seen it chopped to pieces. So well, famously, nobody had it did not really play much of anywhere. And then they found they found the cut footage recently, literally like a cave, I think, and it was so cool to watch in full time, in real time, because the director was on one of these podcasts talking about it and saying, I really wish that we could find this footage.
And then not seven months later, so screen Factory announced that it was coming out, and then he was asked said, yeah, right after that podcast, we discovered the footage and had to restore it. It's amazing. They found it in a mine, in a heart shaped box. Apparently that's where they found the footage. The next one is four K of Brod and Cell Bloc ninety nine, which is a wild, fantastic film. I actually picked Bone Tomahawk up a few weeks ago, and I had to pick this
up as well. If anyone hasn't seen this one, it's it's so wild. It's like an exploitation prison film. Yeah, it's great. And then I have two more I have I picked up versus the Arrow release versus I have this film a long time ago on TV. I've always loved it. I've heard the Ultimate version isn't that good because they filmed additional footage like ten years after the original came out and spliced it in, and I've heard that's a bit questionable. But it's got the original one there. And the last
one, I'm very happy to say finally picked up True Romance. This is the UK release. I found it for a very very good price. Unfortunately, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, which I would have loved. But I love the film, can't wait to rewatch it. The restoration on that in four K on a nice TV is mind blowing. I can't wait. I can't wait. I haven't watched enough four K. I've only recently bought a four K player and a four K TV, so I'm just
now picking up four K films. The best one I've watched so far is The Revenant that blew me away. It looked stunning. But to see some of these other films like Yeah, True Romance, and I've picked up a few along the way, looking forward to watching them. But then my recent pickups. Yes, for anyone else that is looking to have mind blowing four k's, I would say go back to the video that I put out at
the end of last year to share my favorite boutique four ks. Actually it might have just been best four k's of the year, and they're a handful that are just shocking how good things can look. Yeah, highly recommend. It's weird to say I highly recommend my own video, But if you're looking for just like things to show off your system, there are some picks in there that will absolutely make picking it up worthwhile just for that one movie.
Which is crazy to think that that can be the case, but it absolutely is. Yeah, I can't wait to delve into more four k's. It's it's just it makes all the difference. Yeah, my pickups, I'm gonna share one. I picked up VHS ninety four on Blue. This is the Shutter RLJE joint release. I had this pre ordered from the last Target buy two get one free sale when pre orders worked for like nine hours. So
I got this for shockingly cheap, and I've seen it. I have not I've been waiting for the Blue specifically, I'll be interested to hear what you what you say about that one. I have seen it and it's I will say it's a mixed bag. I've heard that that. I've famously not seen the third VHS film. Okay, and I adore Foundly you know you and I talked about fan footage and obviously I'm I'm a big fan of it. Yeah, so I'm curious to see I will. This is gonna sound like
I'm teasing a lot, and I definitely am here. But I got my arrow grail that I've been looking for for literally five years ish finally this week. And the only place you're gonna be able to see what that was is if you join my Patreon description below has a link for that, but that video is going live sometime tomorrow, and the crazier story behind it is how I was able to get it because I got it for a third of the price that it's going for right now, so I also stoked to have it.
But it's also about that time. Sean's got some other stuff to do tonight, so we want to say sadly thank you for your time. We all appreciate you being here and bouncing off of me. No, thank you. I absolutely love this. I love being part of the show and I'm on here. I love the community. I'm absolutely honored to be a part
of it. Before he goes, I will say everybody, please go subscribe to both the Food for Thought podcast and Talking Swords, But if you want to go even a step further, there is a link below for his Patreon as well for the podcast, and they put out some really great stuff. One of my favorites recently is There's a Q and a video with his wife
Devon, and it was hilariously silly. I love it. You guys are fantastic and one of those podcasts that when you listen to it, it feels like you're in the room just joking around with friends and I appreciate that. Yeah, if anyone's interested, we're doing an episode. This is on Patreon only, but this weekend we're doing an episode on The Batman and I have a feeding. One of our co host isn't gonna like it, so I'm going to tear into pieces. Basically, that'll be fun. I can't wait
to listen. But thank you. Enjoy your night, and I hope you'll come back soon. Absolutely, thank you so much for having me see you. All Right, we got some other stuff that we can share, so let's go into what we normally look at after that, and that is what is coming out next week. In case you forgot, and I've got it all cued up here, Arrow's four K release of Twelve Monkeys is coming out
next week. All of these vinegar syndrome titles, these are all because of the retail versions of these coming out, so we'll look at some of those that are not vinegar syndrome. Here. Singing in the Rain four K is coming on next Tuesday. The Criterion for All Mankind four K is coming.
I am waiting for the next sale and that is probably going to be the very first one that I put in my cart I've I've seen for All Mankind years and years ago, but I never got the Criterion, and I am so stoked that they chose that one for four K. I have a feeling it's going to be just a beautiful release. The Criterion release of Around Midnight another one that I am curious and looking at. That's one that I will
be considering here soon. Kenos Pill Noir The Dark Side of Cinema six will be available come Tuesday, and Moonfall if you're really looking for that, it will be out, he said. She said, that is a paramount film with Kevin Bacon that'll be available Singing the Rine. Four K is getting this really nice look and steel book as well. I believe that's a best by exclusive. The four K or sorry not four K. The Criterion release of Amo Fa I believe is How You Say It? Or This is My Desire?
That will be out next Tuesday from Indicator, Stanley Long's Adventures, the triple feature seventy six comedy three some is whether they're calling it. I've had that pre ordered since it was announced and cannot wait to see it. Dementia coming from Cohen Media and Indicators. One for the Road is going to be out next Tuesday, and I think there was one more to talk about. Everything else is mostly vinegar syndrome and partner label. Oh, I know what
I was gonna talk about here. For those that did not know the I believe it's June screen Factory titles. Let me make sure I'm talking about the right date. It is. We got some delays for some Screen Factory releases. It is the four K releases, and they are Where is my email? It looks like they're all being pushed to the end of July, and they are. I can't find them. Let me look in my trash. Maybe I deleted them. I can pull it up at the same time.
Let's just pull that up and I can show you the dates. It seems like there is still manufacturing issues and that is the reason. However, Screen Factory is not being open about why they are being delayed at all. So it is Dog Soldiers, The Funhouse, and Cat People. All three of those have been pushed to either July nineteenth or July twenty sixth. Those three four ks. I'm curious if the Dog Soldiers four K might have been delayed
because of something with second site. They have not announced their release date yet, and we don't know if they're using their scan, but that could be why, so wanted to let you guys know about those delays. Physical media. We are not just about movies on this channel. One thing I wanted to share with everybody. I meant to share this a week or two ago,
and I just completely forgot because we were doing interviews and stuff. However, let me share my other tab to share that this weekend is Record Store Day and for those that don't know, excuse me, for those that don't know, Record Store Day is a day that you can go into your local record store and buy exclusive releases. You can buy regional focused releases, you can buy things that you don't ever get, and it's basically just the time
to come together as physical media lovers that love music. And I will post the link to this and the chat so that you can see the type of items that you're gonna be able to get during this time. But just some of the bigger names that I'm looking forward to that is having exclusive releases coming out. Everybody loves Rick Astley. They've heard one song of his far too much, but he's genuinely a great musician, We've got a lot of Bowie
stuff coming out this time. Always a good thing. Let's see Childish Gambino, big fan of his. He's got a Kahi release coming. Not gonna hit everybody, that's great, So I'm sorry when I miss somebody and you think, oh, they're amazing, why didn't you say their name? Dylaner Escape Plan Devo. There is a La Woman released by the Doors coming out, Echo and the Bunnyman. The Food Fighters has a seven inch coming out. Frankie Goes to Hollywood has something coming out. There is so many things
that you can choose from here. The hard part is that a lot of these are limited, so if you go into your local store they may not have them. But there is so much that you can choose from on these. Yeah, there was a couple more I wanted to point out just in case. Let's see The Lumineers has bright side bonus tracks. A lot of people love the Lumineers. I'm not a huge fan. There's a lot of live albums this time, and I think this is the first like semi normal
record store day since the pandemic was really at the height of everything. They did a lot of online stuff to keep the passion behind it going, keep the culture going. But this is this is gonna be a good one. This is like the welcome Back. I'm a big fan of the Offspring. They have the greatest hits album coming out through Vinyl. Opeth has a release coming out. They are incredible. Let's see Red Hot Chili Pepper's Unlimited Love
lou Reed obviously incredible. He's got multiple releases coming out during this time. Santana grew up on Santana constantly. Some good stuff there. One I will point out, and they may get overlooked because they are at the bottom of this page. But Sleep Token, if you have wanted to listen to new interesting music, I highly recommend you look up sleep Token. They are they've they've gotten rid, really really big over the last couple of years. But
they deserve a lot more attention. Moving on from there, one of the unknowns, Taylor Swift, if you've ever heard of her, is releasing something Tangerine Dream, obviously one of the best of all time. Then we got some interesting things under various artists. We've got a break in the original motion picture soundtrack. That's great. There is let's see there was at least one
more under various It might be below as well. For some reason, they have this broken up into two lists, and I could not figure out why. Earlier the second list here there was one or two. We've got Ray Charles, Collective Soul, CCR, Miles Davis, Peter Gabriel. There is a lot of stuff coming out this weekend, and all I can say is one way to support physical media and keep it all alive is by going in person and purchasing things. Oh Flickering says they are doing a June drop because
of supply chain issues pushing a lot of titles back. And that's one thing I'll point out here for those that don't know. Supply chain issues have hit movies hard, but they have straight murdered murdered the vinyl record scene. Some of these places they're not even announcing titles for a full year because the wait list is so bad. It is crazy out there. Another Tangerine Dream release there, let's see there is Soul Jazz Records is putting out one hundred percent
Dynamite Sky Soul, Rock, Steady and Funk in Jamaica. That really caught my eye. I'm a sky kid at heart. I was in marching band. So I live and die by those instruments. I have to Uh, that's the big ones for me. But yeah, Record Store Day is big. It is something that if you've never taken part in it, highly recommend. It can be a little crazy. Some people go out, you know,
literally like three am to line up. It gets really busy. But if you're just there to hang out and not go wild after some of the exclusive releases, it could be fun. One last thing. Last week we did some of the games that have been out there for movies and I thought we tried again. If you've played the games for today, don't give away the answers. Let everybody else get a chance, please. So for those
that don't know, this is framed WTF. So this is a single still from a movie and we're supposed to guess the movie from the movie or from the picture. We have six chances at this. What is something that we should guess for this and for those of list listening later, it is one hundred dollars bill being marked with a green sharpie. We're gonna do a couple of these. We've got a framed that we're gonna do, and then actoral
and movie dol. There's so many different types of these tiny little games here. I was trying to think of this when I got the tabloaded, and I don't even know what to guess with this one. I personally don't recognize this. Anybody have any guess for one hundred dollars bill with the green sharpie. I'm willing to bet that if I skip this one, the next the next frame is probably gonna be a much bigger hint nerd of the eighties, just got back from watching The Northmen. He said, I threw an axe
at somebody's car. When I get home, I will pillage my wife. That's awesome, Jeff says, to guess Jackie Brown. And since nobody else is talking, let's guess Jackie Brown. Look at that. I haven't seen Jackie Brown so long I didn't recognize it. Hilton, you are more in line with what I would have guessed. I was thinking something like Casino or for some reason, Ocean's eleven was sticking out in my head. But it
was Jackie Brown. Thanks Jeff. Let's go to the next one. This one is Movie Doul and this one's a little odd, so for those that haven't seen Movie Double before, let me zoom in a little bit for you. This is gonna show us a one second clip which will be the entire film fast forwarded, and then we are going to guess what it was. So pay attention so that you can give a guess after this, there was a couple stills that really stuck out in there. Anybody have a guess.
I'm not gonna put my guess in there, And unfortunately I can't replay it, so if you didn't see it that first time, the next time, it will be a two second clip of the entire film. And then after that I think it's four seconds. But most of the time I can get these on the one second. I just have one still usually that captures my eye. Anybody, We've still got a whole bunch of people hanging out live. I'm hoping at least one or two or one to answer. I know
there's a slight lag and that's probably a part of it. All Right, I'm just gonna have to throw I'm just gonna skip if nobody has us, so that I can play another one for everybody. All Right, I'm gonna skip one second. We're gonna do it again. Here we go. Eric says, Devil Wears Praduct. Dave says Avengers Endgame. I'm gonna go what was the first guess? It was Avengers Endgame. Let me try that one, Avengers. That's not even an option. Devil Wears Praduct was the other
one that was not that one? All right? This one is three seconds. It's the same film for all three so far? Why is it not loading? Here we go three second clip? Now. Eric says it's totally a Marvel movie. And then Guardians won Is that what we're going with? That wasn't it any other guesses? This one is tough. I thought I knew this one. Jeff says, this is tough. Eric says this is tough. Yeah, this is hard. I feel like I recognize the end
there. I don't remember the name of the film though, Artist says RoboCop. I don't think that's it, but let's try it. All right. Here goes the five second ope. I accidentally hit skip. Here goes six seconds. This is the last one, Lisa says, Starship Troopers. Dave says Enders Game. Now, I've not seen Enders Game. It could be that one. All right, here we go six second clip. If we can't get it, now, oh, I just saw the title. Did anybody else see that? It was going so slow that I could see the
title screen. I've still not seen Ready Player one, So yeah, that was gonna be impossible. And that's hard because there's a whole bunch of ip in that. I get how we thought that might have been a bunch of those. That was tough. All right, let's go for the last one. This one can be a lot more, a lot more involved for everybody. So acttoral. For those that have never seen this, we did this last week, and this is where you were guessing the actor that is in
all of these films. And we don't have the names of the films. We have the years and then the number of letters in there, and we have the genres and the IMDb rating. So we're looking for somebody that's been acting since nineteen seventy nine all the way through twenty fifteen. Now, I shared last week one of my big clues for this is I look at the genres and see if there's anything that sticks out, like a musical or a comedy or something like that. And the only one here is comedy in twenty
fifteen. Maybe, but there's a lot of stuff in the nineties and early two thousands there, so that could be a clue as well. Any guesses on what these could be, and you'll see if you put one in and it's wrong, it'll tell you what else. Maybe you answered an actor that was in this film, but it wasn't the actor that they're looking for. It will tell you what that film was, and then it will also give
you a hint about the ages. So if you have a just any guest to throw out here for this one, I can put in the actor and we'll find out something. Jeff says Matt Dylan from nineteen seventy nine. Huh right, all right, so Matt Dylan. Matt Dylan is fifty seven, so that is more than ten years off of his age, and he is not in any of those films. Mitchell says. Michelle pfeifferh maybe I could see that, although I expected around ninety three. Maybe that would have been
dangerous minds, but I think nineteen ninety three is not that. Let's try. Michelle Pfeiffer, ooh, it's more than ten years off of sixty three as well. Flickering says, I've been gravitating towards the movie with the highest score. Can't guess because I know this one gravitating to one of the highest score, and that one that is probably the easiest one to guess. The title of it is probably the something with four letters in it. Afterwards,
Yep, the age is wrong. It's somebody that's going to be older than that it looks like, because obviously if if they were much younger, they would have been very young in nineteen seventy nine. Any other guesses on these, I'm betting it's somebody that's around What is the oldest person we're looking at so far sixty three for Michelle Pfeiffer. Probably somebody that's around like eighty ish,
or they could be passed by this point as well. What about Let's see two in two thousand and one and ninety seven a comedy in twenty fifteen, though that one's getting to me. Fifteen years later they do a comedy and it's a good comedy too. Score to seven point three on IMDb. That's not easy, Eric says, I bet it's the game, Oh, drama mystery thriller. That makes sense. Was Michael Douglas in a comedy in twenty fifteen or was it someone else in that was it? Uh? Was
his brother Sean Pennon there? Oh, I didn't see Jeff's comedy either. He said Harvey Kytel was Harvey Kytel in a comedy in twenty fifteen. Let's guess Michael Douglas first, because I think he might be a little older too. Oh gosh, we got it, Michael Douglas. Let's see what movies they're talking about. Then we got the China syndrome, Wall Street falling down. Yeah, that should have been the giveaway right there, the game Traffic Wonder Boys. Oh, they're counting ant Man as a comedy. That makes
it tough. I don't really look at ant Man as a comedy anyways. I hope that's fun for everybody. If you like that, let me know. May keep doing those at the end of the show each week. That's all I've got for tonight. I appreciate you guys hanging out with me and hanging out with Sean going over the announcements for the week and what we have coming out next week.
