The rules that govern the vampire are well known. He does not die, but clings to life forever. Having lost his own life, he must steal the life of others. If a place is a home, he may only enter after he's been invited in. And though the vampire may look like a man, all traces of intelligence vanish upon death. leaving behind nothing but a beast. There are no vampires that can think like a man. None. Except for one.

The deck's legacy is intended for a mature adult audience and contains themes that some may find upsetting. A comprehensive list of trigger warnings covering the entire season can be found in the show notes. All Dex children are used to adversity. They have grown up balancing on the sharp edge between living and dying. They are fueled by fear and hope and loyalty. They are unlike other children. They are broken, invaded, hurt.
Wren, Varian, and Isra's escape has left the Dex children on the Blood Road exposed and vulnerable. Nathaniel, Tristan, Osa, and Devig do not think about them. The North Jakran army is not friendly to them. They are young and, though lethal, inexperienced in the world. But to them, the challenges of inexperience, hostility and prejudice are nothing. Wherever they are, they find spaces for freedom. and opportunities for love.
Listening to The Dex Legacy Season 2 Interlude 5 Major Problems Starring Stevie Skinner, Danielle Ellett, David S. Deer, Danny Scott, Reginald West, Raki Sharma and Emily Inkpen with music by Dr. Alan Stroud. Well, that was... Yeah. Varys, where are you going? Someone could come looking for us, Raya. Yeah, I know. I just... No, you're right. So, have you heard anything? About what? You know. Them. I didn't think you wanted to talk about Varian, Isra, and Wren.
I don't, but... Raya, the agents pulled out of camp yesterday evening. Eek. Bad sign. Maybe. Faris, I've been thinking. About? You and... Them. What do you mean? I know. I know you like Ren. Okay? I... Why would you even say that? Because it's true. It's not. It's not. Look at me and say it. It's nothing. Just a stupid thing. He's different to the others. That's all.
He's not. He's just pretty, and you like pretty. That's why you like me. Ha. Seriously, he's just like Isra, and you hate her. I don't hate her. Yes, you do. Thing is, I don't, because I like her. You do? Yeah. You like her? Yeah, I always have. Something about her that's just... Hypnotic? Yeah, like the way she moves. Yeah. Anyway, if anything's going to prove we've got no chance, it's this. What?
Them leaving? Yeah. I mean, they chose each other, Faris. They always will. You said they didn't tell anyone. They didn't. Not a word. Well, they didn't say anything to me either. So? They didn't think about us. What's changed there? What's this about? Maybe we should focus on each other. You know, stop thinking about them. Even if they get caught, we know where we stand now. I mean... We've never even talked about this before. I know, Faris. I just... I'm just f***ing...
fed up of being lonely. It sounds stupid. No. It doesn't. It doesn't? No, Raya. I know exactly what you mean. When I'm out there, I'm meant to be protecting everyone, but... I mean, there's a reason I'm taking out the enemies around your section of mountain more than anywhere else. That's why? Raya! The others can look after themselves. I can look after myself. Sure you can. But I like looking out for you too. I just wanted to know if you felt the same.
Sure. Why else would I shoot any Ateran who looks like they might be carrying anti-aircraft missiles? Do the Aterans have those? Sure. They're rough, but, I mean, effective. I take them out as a first priority. Oh, that's sweet, Ferris. Didn't know you had that in you. Oh, stop. Yep. Hey, kids. I thought you should know I just spoke to the president.
Varian, Isra, and Ren have been located. Okay. So, nightmare over. They'll be safe soon. No harm done. Yeah, I doubt that. Yeah, well, no harm to them. Anyway. Okay. Good to know. Thanks. Wait, um, located or caught? They said located. So... They might still make it. Be careful, kid. I know they're our family, but remember who we answer to. Do you know what'll happen to them?
When they're caught? Nope. I don't get told the details, but they did say they'd go back to the island. So they're not coming back to the wall? Not straight away, no. You two doing okay? Yep, we're fine. All right. Get down on the ground for a bit, huh? Get some fresh air. All right. What? Let's focus on you and me. That's what you were saying before, right? Yeah, so... Yes. get over here we've just been told to get out of here sure but we weren't given a time limit
We were told you were all here. What's up? Hi, Ferris, Raya. It's Major Thrish, the North Jackman commander here. Varian, Isra, and Ren have gone. Those agents have gone. And he knows it, and he's pushing his advantage. What does he want? They've seen the same stuff we've seen, Ferris. The Atterrans are gathering themselves below, and it looks like they'll be coming at us in the next couple of days. So what's the problem? He wants us feathering in with his troops.
He wants to place us under his officers. Taking commands from them? During the battle? Ash, no. What can I do about it, Faris? Shiv? Heyndos? Raya? You got any ideas? No doubt it would mean splitting us up as well. Dividing our forces. Call the president and ask him to step in. Varian, Isra, and Ren used to do it all the time. You make it sound easy, Shiv. But I'm not them. Actually...
We were just up on Angel City. Idris said Varian, Isra, and Ren have been... located. What? They're back? No, they've been located. But they'll probably be caught. Even if they are? They'll be taken back to the island, so honestly, it doesn't matter. The president adopted them, but we're also his responsibility. By all means, Ferris, call him. And say what? Exactly.
What happened when we first arrived? Major Trish wanted us fighting under his command right at the start, didn't he? Little Princess had one meeting with him, and he gave us this section of wall to defend by ourselves. The worst hit section of the wall. Yeah, Israel walked in there, gave him the old dex charm, and left him quivering in the corner. I can't do that. Shall I try? Go for it, big guy. All right. I shall go.
If he splits us up, we won't be able to do what we do best. We'll be tripping over North Jakarin soldiers every time we turn around. It's worse than that. We won't be able to communicate with each other directly. Only through their officers. No, Ash, we can't work like that. But what can we do, Raya? Varian, Isra, and Ren aren't here, and those agents clearly had some authority, but now they're gone. Did they say anything to you before they left?
The agents? No. You? No, me neither. Raya, do you think Idris would speak to Thrish for us? Or the president? He's admiral of the fleet, not a commander of the military. I doubt he'd be able to swing any weight down here with Thrish. I can ask him to talk to the president. Major Thrish is busy. Do you think that would stop Israel? I am not Little Princess, or White Princeling, or Varian.
They were raised to walk through doors. And we're raised to knock and wait. Trust me, when you don't wait, you wish you had. I'll call the president. Communication request activated. President Dex. Ash, what if he doesn't pick up? He might not. He might be very busy with Varian, Isra and Ren. That's how it always was. They were busy with Varian, Isra and Ren.
And Irene, Israel, and Ren were busy with us. With them gone, we're missing a link. Right now, none of them care about us. Connection request denied. Right. What now? Okay, look, what are we worried about here? That we'll be split up? That we won't be able to talk to each other during the battle?
That we won't be able to fight properly because the North Jackran officers won't know what to do with us. You are right, Lady Shiv. How can a commander of normal people understand how to lead us? We are not normal. But we do need leadership, right? This could be a big battle, and I'm not a commander. I've just been picking things up since Varian Israel and Ren left. I don't know how to do this, so maybe it's better if we're among the North Jackrans.
Even if we're less useful like that. Ash, they're going to get us into stupid situations, and we're not going to be able to talk to each other to get ourselves out of it. We don't know that. Raya? You'll talk to Idris for us? Yep, I'll do what I can. Thanks. Come on, let's go and get some work done.
The night in the lab. The night you snuck in, you mean. The night we saw Isra unconscious in that rack thing after she almost died on the training quad. Yes. Have you told anyone about what we saw? No. I mean, it's not the kind of thing she'd want us to share, right? Oh, good. Shiv, what is it? I ran into Ren on my way out of the lab, and... No, no, I bet he wasn't happy to see you. He...
He said he'd kill me if I said anything. Yeah, well, he'd probably do some damage. No, Rhea, he meant it. I never seen him like that before. He was scary. I had nightmares. What kind of nightmares? Like when I go to sleep, sometimes I feel like I'm still awake and I'm dreaming in my room and suddenly he's there at the end of my bed and I'm terrified.
And then I properly wake up and I'm holding my knife and shaking. Wow, he meant it then. Yes, it's horrible. I can see his mechanical eyes glinting in the dark, like they do sometimes, but it's like looking death in the face. So you can't tell anyone else what we saw. Because he doesn't know you saw it too. And if he knows people know, he'll kill me. Or he'll come for you. Shiv, Ren isn't going to kill me. Well, he'd kill me.
I really don't think he would, Shiv, and you're not going to tell anyone anyway. Right? I mean, I wouldn't tell anyone because it's Israel. And what we saw was horrible. We saw it. And now we have to carry it. But it's only a taste of what they have to deal with every time they're in that lab. It's why I'm on their side in all this. I really hope they make it, Shiv. I really do.
Me too. They've been located, but they haven't been caught. Not yet. One thing's for sure. If any of the people hunting them survive... I won't be the only one having nightmares.
