Episode description

Tree roots are essential for stability and nutrient absorption, spreading wide and deep beneath the surface. Most roots remain in the top 18 inches of soil, but they extend horizontally up to three times the width of the tree’s canopy. While taproots dive deeper for water, the majority of a tree’s root system is shallow, seeking oxygen and nutrients. Healthy roots support strong growth and environmental resilience.
