From the Daily Odds. I'm Zara Seidler, I'm Lucy Tassel. It's Friday, the eleventh and April. Here's what's making headlines this evening.

Opposition leader Peter Dutton has responded to reports he was allegedly the target of a terror plot last year. According to a report by The Australian, a sixteen year old boy is accused of planning to attack Dutton at his Brisbane home. Commenting on the incident today, Dutton described politics as a quote brutal business, but said he feels protected by the Australian Federal Police. It's understood the teen is

in police custody awaiting trial in Queensland Supreme Court. The Prime Minister confirmed he reached out to the opposition leader directly after learning about the reports. Albanize said there's no place whatsoever in politics for any of this. The PM told reporters he was also the target of what he called a pretty serious incident which is currently before legal processes.

The Bureau of Meteorology has warned there is a high chance of a tropical cyclone forming off WA's north this weekend. BOMB meteorologist Dean Narramore said a tropical low well to the northwest of Darwin is likely to intensify as we move throughout today and tonight, before it's expected to pass north of the Kimberley as a Category one system on

Saturday afternoon. Communities along the Kimberley coast are being told to brace for possible heavy rainfall and damaging wind gusts of up to eighty five kilometers per hour developing in areas between Berkeley River Mouth and Cockatoo Island. Locals are being urged to download the Emergency WA app to stay updated.

A woman believed to have been wrongfully imprisoned in Russia has been released after fifteen months behind bars. Senya Carolina walks free as part of a US Russia prisoner swap. A citizen of both countries, the thirty three year old was arrested during a visit to family in Russia last year. She was later charged with high treason over a small

donation she made to a Ukrainian charity. In exchange for her release from Russia, the US agreed to free Russian German citizen Arthur Petrov, who was charged with trying to smuggle US microelectronics to Russian military factories. In twenty twenty three, the high profile swap took place in Abu Dharby. It's the second US led prisoner exchange in as many months.

And some Friday good news. Forty percent of the world's electricity was generated by clean energy in twenty twenty four. That's according to a new report. EMBA, an independent global energy think tank, attributed the result to record growth in the renewable sector last year, particularly across solar energy. In its report, EMBER said solar generation has doubled in the last three years, adding more electricity than any other source

over that period. Twenty twenty four was also a record year for solar capacity installations, for example, roof panels on homes and businesses. EMBER estimates that even if electricity demand grows, clean generation growth will be fast enough to keep pace.
