Sydney Side is embracing for a long commute home this evening, with ongoing industrial action expected to cause continued disruptions across the city's rail network. It comes after the Combined Rail union reintroduced work bands, leading to the cancelation of critical maintenance work on Tuesday night. Transport for New South Wales has warned commuters to expect delays, service cancelations and large
service gaps for the rest of the week. More than one thousand services were expected to be canceled by the end of the day. Commuters have been urged to avoid any non essential travel. After months of negotiations with the rail, tram and bus union, the New South Wales government offered workers a thirteen percent pay rise on Tuesday. The state's rail union has demanded a thirty two percent pay increase over four years.
The Weather Bureau has issued several weather warnings for large parts of the country's east, with strong winds and widespread rain forecast over the coming hours. The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting severe thunderstorms including damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rain for much of eastern Victoria, as well as the Act and southern parts of New South Wales. Minor to moderate flooding is also expected in Queensland's Burnet Weir
and lower Condomine Rivers. Emergency services have advised people in impacted areas to move their cars under cover or away from trees, stay indoors and keep clear of creeks, storm drains and fallen power lines.
The Princess of Wales has announced she's in remission after being diagnosed with cancer in March last year. Kate Middleton shared a statement to social media expressing her relief as she remains focused on recovery as anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will not so. Princess Catherine wrote it takes time to adjust to a new normal, but she
said she's looking forward to the year ahead. The Princess began chemotherapy treatment after her diagnosis following abdominal surgery in January twenty twenty four.
And Today's good News, a world first exhibition showcasing rare literary items from historic authors is coming to the Gold Coast priceless relics from the likes of William Shakespeare. I've heard of him, Jane Austen, also her Oscar Wilde and Charles Dickens will be on display at the Home of
the Arts Gallery in Surface Paradise from April. Handwritten letters, centuries old paintings, sketches and rare typescripts will be included in the Writer's Revealed exhibition and that's going to run until August.
