It's Tuesday, the seventh of January. Here's what's making headlines this evening.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced he will resign. Trudeau said he would resign once his party had found a replacement for him. He announced he's asked for parliament to be suspended until March twenty four to allow for a new leader of his party to be chosen. Trudeau had faced calls to resign from several Liberal MPs after Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Christia Freeland stepped down

from cabinet in late December. Canada must hold an election by October, which Trudeau's party, the Liberals, are expected to lose.

The US Congress has officially confirmed Donald Trump as the next US president. Vice President Kamala Harris formally certified Trump's victory in the election, which she lost to him back in November four years ago. The same count was disrupted by group of Trump supporters who tried to stop Joe Biden's confirmation as president. Donald Trump will officially be inaugurated as the forty seventh president of the United States in just two weeks.

Two brothers have been charged with murder after a twenty three year old woman was fatally shot in Queensland last month. Chloe Jade Mason was found unconscious outside a home in Coubledture on twenty second of December. Last week, police announced they had issued arrest florence for the two men. Police said Cody Thompson and Cain Thompson Gleeson were arrested without incident on Monday before they face caught Today.

And Today's Good News. A monument honoring the women's suffrage movement will be erected on the National Mall in Washington, DC. In signing the act that authorizes the monument, US President Joe Biden said the Women's Suffrage National Monument will recognize the generations of women who fought to ensure an equal voice for women in our democracy and honor the leaders who fought for the Infrance Chiseman of all women.
