Category five tropical cycle and Zilia has started to make a landfall in Western Australia. The Bureau of Meteorology said the weather system is producing very heavy rainfall, with totals of between two hundred to three hundred millimeters expected over the next twenty four hours. According to bomb, emergency services have received thirty seven calls for assistance across the region
in recent days. Premier Roger Cook has said Zelia is quote really dangerous and big and it's one which is going to threaten the communities right across the Pilborough in particular.
Labour has won the state seat of Werubee in a by election in Victoria. Schoolteacher John Lister will become the new member after beating Liberal Steve Murphy by just a few hundred votes. Labour saw a primary swing of more than sixteen percent against it. The seat was vacated by former Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas, who resigned from parliament last year.
At least thirty people have been injured after a man drove a car into a crowd of over one thousand protesters in Munich, Germany. Authorities have identified the suspect as a twenty four year old Afghan asylum seeker living in Munich who was already known to police. The driver was arrested at the scene and is set to appear before a judge.
And today's good news the number of unprovoked shark attack incidents decrease significantly in twenty twenty four. The latest International Shark Attack File showed that there were forty seven unprovoked attacks worldwide last year, a decrease of twenty two incidents from the previous year.
