Australian Federal Police Commissioner Chrissy Barrett has announced the Bondai terrorist attack may have been linked to the Islamic State. At a press conference on Tuesday, Barrett said there was no evidence suggesting others were involved in the attack, but investigations were still in their early stages. On Sunday, two gunmen opened fire on a gathering at a Jewish community
event in Bondai, killing fifteen innocent people. A fifty year old gunman died at the scene, while his twenty four year old son is under police guard in hospital with critical injuries. The twenty four year old came to the attention of Australia's Intelligence Agency AZO in twenty nineteen when he was interviewed during a six month investigation due to
his association with two others who were subsequently imprisoned. When and how he became radicalized after that is under investigation, according to Prime Minister Anthony Albanizi.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has taken Hello Fresh and U Foods to the Federal Court in separate proceedings, alleging they caught their customers in quote subscription traps. Both companies are owned by German based parent company Hello Fresh se. The watchdog alleges the companies, which deliver prepared meal kits to customers doors, breached consumer law by misleadingly advertising that
customers could easily cancel subscriptions online before a specified cutoff time. However, it's alleged that when many consumers tried to cancel their subscription online prior to the first delivery cutoff, they were
still charged and still received their first order. In a statement, a Triple C commissioner Luke Woodward said, quote We've brought these two cases because we alleged that Hello Fresh's and New Food's conduct involved a suite of confuse us and unclear subscription practices in breach of Australia's consumer laws.
The FBI has announced it foiled a bomb plot targeting businesses and immigration agents set for New Year's Eve in Los Angeles. US Attorney General Pambondi said a far left pro Palestine, anti government and anti capitalist group was preparing a series of attacks. Federal authorities have charged four people
with conspiracy and possession of an unregistered destructive device. It's alleged the four planned to plant explosive devices across five locations, targeting two US companies at midnight on New Year's Eve in the LA area.
And today's good News, Researchers at UNSW have found social connections could slow aging in some dolphins. Analysis of data from a bottlenosed dolphin population in western Australia showed male dolphins with quote strong social bonds aged slower compared to more isolated dolphins. Lead author doctor Olivia Gerber said the findings showed social connections quote slow down aging at the cellular level, adding that it is quote the first time we have shown that they can affect the aging process
in animals. Male dolphin friendships can be decades long, mirroring human relationships. Doctor Gerber said the social dolphins would hunt together, play together, and reduce stress, while solitary dolphins would hunt, compete and face dangers alone.
