There might be some atheists here, and that's okay. I do not judge atheists at all. I don't. I just look at them the same way I look at people with androids. If you've never been to Dubai, uh, just imagine if Las Vegas believed in God. Man, you're at the strip club, then here they called a prayer. I think the closest I ever came to becoming a politician was one time this woman called me a short king. Yeah, but that was only one time, and it's not true
because I'm five foot eight and that's not sure. Detroit has the highest population of Arabs in the entire country. Yeah, a bunch of dudes named Mohammad. Would I need Paul Leah is on a cruise show, yo, Let's get something man, what up cruise show? Thanks for having men, Thanks for being here. We appreciate it. Man, I've been rocking with y'all for so long, stopping for real bro, No, Man, I had to say it, Bro, I'm talking. I'm talking. Pre iHeart pre
iHeart well what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah for sure, bro. Yeah. Once we came here, it was just a game changer. It was a different story. Man. We love being here man good man? Yeah, man, how are you? Man? How are things? How's comedy treating? Comedy is treating pretty good man? God is good? Bro?
Yeah yeah, I'm feeling really good and blessed. Man. It's like you've been at it for so long and then it's like you just like what we were talking about earlier, like you just hit that stride and then things just start rolling, you know what I'm saying. Absolutely Detroit player on YouTube out now you're also on tour as well. Yep, yeah, so you're traveling
a lot going on, right? Do you remember hitting eight nine open mics a week, performing in front of other comedians who hate themselves as much as they hate you? Were you there? I've seen it. I gave it a shot. I was terrible at it, you know what I mean. If I wasn't doing radio, i'd be a struggling comedian at night, in a struggling barber during the That's what I wasn't doing this. So I think every day for this, bro, you got like good wit. Like I'm
saying, it's only good here. And I'm an introvert. I'm I'm a lightweight piece of shit, like and I'm a bad, friend, It's all bad, but I'm happy to be here and this is where I belong. Right. Stand up is no joke, man, But do you remember that? Do you remember performing in the back of you know, pickup trucks and a and a shitty amp and you know a lot of those gigs are tough.
Yeah, man, those are tough gigs. Bro. I'm so grateful for those gigs though, man, because it just like really built a shield, you know, and it's like sparring, right, And I'm sure there's self doubt too. You know, you bomb at a show or a show doesn't go as well as you wanted it to, and then you have to come back the next day and do it again and face it head on.
Yeah. But a lot of it for me was just like I would do shows and like It'll be like five people in the crowd and I'm just like killing right for these five people, just smashing and I'm just like, Bro, I feel like the dopest underground wrapper, Like I know body he would like play you know what I'm saying, so hot nobody knows me? Yeah,
Bro, that's iwa was for a while. And it's like you get gas lip by the industry, because like you'll do things and then you'll be at like you know, these like auditions and all these festival auditions and you'll like smash and you're like, yo, I just smashed, right, And then they're like, you're not what we're looking for. You're not what we're looking for, and you're like you're about to blow up. It feels that way, and then they tell you, yeah, it's just not happening for
you today. Bro. I mean it's like, you know, I have immigrant parents, bro, and it's just like I sort of felt that the whole life. Yeah. Bro, it's like my mom would like work real hard, try to apply for a loan, try to apply for different things, and like work real hard to boost up her business. And then it's like it would never work out the way it's supposed to be. But mom fixed TVs right when you were a kid. Yeah. Yeah, yeah,
sick, bro, that's crazy. I just know that research team. Oh guy, Yeah, her name is Jordan, she's twenty two years old. You're behind on your Verizon bill. I did just with you had a stomach ache last Tuesday. You say, yeah, it's weird, and I was like, wait, how do you know me. But you're a comedian. You're doing well and you're traveling and people love you, man, and you know that's that's gotta feel great, right, it feels good. Did you
ever feel like maybe or were you ever told comedies not for you? Coming up? It's always got one person who said it was mostly my family, bro, Yeah, like it was my family because like I was, I was living in a one bedroom apartment with a white rapper named Scripture. Okay, right, so I'm living my homie Scripture and it's like we were paying twelve hundred dollars a month rand splitting it, sharing a bedroom together, and it's like, you know, just on the grind, and that's all my
parents saw. Yeah you know what I'm saying. Like they didn't see a whole lot of success, so all they saw was struggle. So I would like hide facts from my parents, Like I'm like, mom, I'm doing a show, and she goes, how much the pain you I'm like a g Yeah, She's like, well you are getting one rock put this show. And then I would show up to an open mic yeah and pay them you have to pay to get on? Yeah yeah bro? So it was you know, but oh you had to lie. Yeah, yeah, I
have. You know. Yeah, most parents, especially immigrandparents, they don't. They don't necessarily see past hard work, right, and to them, hard work is physically hardwore, physical hard work. Yeah. They see success as material exactly. Yeah, for the most part, and then they start getting older and then you realize, like, yo, you're kind of fucking wrong, and they start they started asking forgiveness something not all, but but
yeah, they see they see material things and money as success. Well, like like Joe Coy's mom tells him, like, you should start saving money because you don't know if this is gonna work. It's working, mom, Yeah, it's been working. Yeah. Literally, my parents still say that today, Like I'm like, Mom, I'm coming to Detroit. I'm opening for my boy bass and Musif at the film More. I'm gonna go do some shows with them. My mom's like, how much is they paying you?
The first question? And I'm just like, mom, they're paying me, okay, Like I'm doing all right, Like I don't ask you for money. I pay your electric bill. Yeah yeah, I'm like auto payments. You probably know that too, but yeah, but but it's like about one hundred and thirty five a month. It's crazy, y know, that's pretty close. Not but but but it's like, you know, it all comes from love. Like they obviously worry about us or it's all yeah,
so I'm just like, you know, I tolerate it. And you know, them if you're not a doctor or a lawyer or something professional like a mechanic or something, they're worried that you're not working. Yeah, you know, and they're like, what what did I raise you to be a clown? It's like, well, not a clown. It's hard work and it's uh, you know that when it comes to comedy, there's trenches right there. There there is, and there's a lot of emotion. There's a lot
of it's a roller coaster emotions when you're a comedian. Yeah, I'm trying to break through. Yeah, do you remember the first show you took them to. My parents have never seen me do live stand up comedy. Ever, what they have never seen me is that a personal thing? Like you don't want them to or no. I invite them all the time, like yo, even for my special bro like my I Tell My Life for Detroit
Player. They were not there for Detroit Player. I mean this case was unique because it's like, my mom was working at a liquor store for twenty years bro every single day, opening and closing the store, right, and my dad had a lot of like mental issues, so he wasn't able to like really work. So my mom basically was my mom and my dad. Yeah. Right, So and you know, she put us all through Catholic school, paid for our tuition, and you know what I'm saying, like
really put in work. So it's like when she was done working at the store, she just didn't feel comfortable being out in public because she was so used to just being a cash here and being in this environment. So, you know, years passed by and then I'm like, Mom, I'm doing a show in Detroit. She goes, ah, I'm not going to go to this one. And then I'm like, mom, I'm doing another show in Detroit. She won't come, So for the special, she goes, I'm gonna come, And I had it all set up. I'm like,
Mom, you're gonna drop me off. I got a ninety six in pala ss twenty four inch trims. You're gonna drip off? Yeah, some Detroit because that's what my mom is. The original O G. Detroit Player. Yeah yeah, yeah, So she was going to drop me off. We had all set up and then three days before she got shingles. Oh yeah, And I'm like, mom, you gave yourself shingles? Yeah? She herself in bro like you did this on purpose? Mom? Yeah yeah wow. So that's still on the bucket list for them to be in person.
Yeah. Man, Like she came to the screening because I basically forced her to come to the screening. So I did a small screening and did try my mom, it's gonna bee hundred people small screening. I just announced it, just like for homie. So she came. That was her first time seeing me. So I'm like watching her watch me. Yeah, and it's like when I'm talking about Iraq and politics, she's like getting really excited.
And when I start talking about like porn, she like covers her ears, you know, boy yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, that's why she didn't want to go. She doesn't want to hear that stuff, you know, little boy talking crazy yo, real talk. But she's gone. The first time she watches you do standup, it's on a screen, right, So that's that for parents, that's just like whoa like what it like Okay, so how is this happening? Right, You're on screen but you're telling jokes,
but you're sitting right next to me. Right, It's just like whoa. But that's a big deal, like for her to watch that, and I'm sure that made you emotional. Oh man, bro, I was crying. Yeah, Bro, I mean the fact that she was in the building. Cause like I was waiting backstage and I had all these camera people there and they're like, yo, bro, we're gonna start the show. And I'm like, don't start showing us. My mom is here, and my mom was mad late. So it's like thirty five minutes, my mom still
ain't there. People are like, you know, already drunk. I'm like, I don't want people to be lit already. So then my mom shows up and this dude's like, mom is landed. I'm like, cool, let's start it. So then like we started the Detroit Player music and then I can like see my mom watching and I'm just like broke down. Oh man. As a comedian, what do you think is wrong with you? What is wrong with me? Yeah? Bro, you know, I'll say
there's something wrong with all of us. It's just how we're able to articulate. It makes us hilarious. Yes, thank you. You know what I'm saying. How we articulate, how we communicate our pain to the world is what makes us. Yeah. Like a lot of me was like you, Like, I just wanted to make it so bad and I wanted to be accepted. That's something that I struggled with even as a kid. I wanted
everybody to like me. I wanted to be the cool kid. I wanted to be the best athlete, even though I didn't know how to play no sports. Yeah, you know what I'm saying, I gonna be a star basketball player and they're like, you're missing every shot. All right. Look it was cold and I have a torn rotator cuff and that's all people remember. I could throw a nerf ball. Bro. You'll hear the whistle, yea, yeah, yeah, right, all day, all day, dude.
I threw out the first pitch at a Dodgers game and it was terrible. It was bad. Yeah, And I'm Mexican. I should be able to throw a ball, right. I've never played baseball really, you know, I never really did that. And I threw it from the mound and it was just it wasn't like fifty cent bad, but it was. It was bad, Like did you warm up before? Like absolutely, I practiced. I warmed up there when I got there, and then once they said my name, I forgot everything. I forgot that how to move my limbs.
I just forgot, forgot to speak English. It was all bad. It was for my family. It was all bad. But fine, and I'll do it again, you know what I mean, I will do it again. Who said was that Matt Rife who said he throws a ball like he doesn't have a dad. Yes, yo, look fast, yeah, yeah, yeah, in that particular video, he right though, right right, right, right right. That was Matt Rife. I know he went through it a few weeks back in a few months back on TikTok. Yeah.
Social media. You know, it's that whole love hate thing. You know, people will build you up just so they can throw stones at you. Man. Man, that's that's facts, bro. But it's also interesting. It's like people are building him up to be like, you're this guy that's like you're advocating hate against women. You're saying these divisive words. But I'm about to buy this meet and greet ticket so I can see you. So it's like this guy's almost sold out the Hollywood Bowl, you know what
I'm saying. It's like this guy sold out eight shows at the mohegan Son Arena. Wow. And it's like I'm like, is this is what canceled looks like? Yeah, it canceled me. You guys, help change my life and cancel me please. Hey, you almost enter a new realm, like a different world, right, and you become like a bad boy, like like damaged goods that now people have to see and want right. Well, what I was telling him, I'm like, you know, there's artist
I like to put their hand on the stove. You know what I'm saying. It's like they just want to see what they can get away with, you know, which is it? Creatively, there's like a lot of excitement in that, sure, you know what I'm saying, and more than that, pushing those boundaries and seeing what you can do. But some people put their hand on the stove for too long. Absolutely, you gotta know when
to back up. You gotta know when to back up. Have you ever found yourself in a situation on stage that you know, you kind of put yourself in creatively? Now you have to dig your way out of it, man, because I know, you know you have a set right, and you've been working on a set for so long that you can move with it on stage right. But then there's sometimes just keep things interesting. You want to go left and not necessarily know where you're going. But it's almost fun
to dig yourself out of that. No, well, it omediate. It's sort of like when you said when you were when you were on the mound, you forgot everything. Yeah, so when there's like high pressure situations, that happens. Like I was auditioning for my first comedy festival and I was like, man, I can't wait to jump in here. Bro, I'm gonna smash. I literally did a set. My set was at nine. I did a set at eight and just killed with that material. And then
I show up and I'm just like I forgot how to speak English. Yeah you know what I'm saying. Like I do the first joke and I like started, I'm like, man, my parents, and then people are just like what And then I just like ignored that reality and just kept going. And then I'm like, bro, I ain't talking to nobody right now, Like I'm just not performing in front of people, and it's like my desire to win and everything. I'm like, I'm going to show my parents all
my homies. I'm gonna like, bro, look what I did. I made it come back to Detroit. Like all these things, we're just stunting my creativity, you know what I'm saying. And then at one point it was towards the end and I was like, man, I don't think I got this, and then it just killed like everybody real. That was like huge laugh for me just saying the truth. I'm like, man, I don't think I got this. Oh you said that on the mic. On
the mic. Oh yeah, on the mic in front of everybody, Like everybody just quiets, all these suits, all these industry people just looking at me, and they probably like hate Rock now because of me. I'm like, man, it's your fault. Yeah yeah, No, Once you're up there and you just become real with the audience and let them know that you know it's bad, that it almost helps. Bro. Being honest will get you out of anything. Really, it's relatability too, That's just relatility,
that's right. Yeah. If people be like, yo, I'm listening to another human, they relate to you. Already. So I'm just like, man, I can't be afraid of the truth, which are a lot of things I talk about in the special We're All things I was so ashamed to talk about. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. I was like, I can't be like I framed it as I'm making fun of my family, But now I'm just like, no, bro, I'm actually having a creative
discussion about my family and about humanity and celebrating them. Yeah. Absolutely absolutely, And that goes over what people understand that people even if they're not from where you're from. We know, we've all, you know, we've all experienced embarrassment when it comes to family and certain situations and beliefs that we believe in, you know, and hate that we've encountered. Right, I mean that's you relate to something with that. Let you and I want to do
some comedy. I want to host the comedy shows. We want to do traumedy and just talks about our trauma new genre. What do you think traumedy? Bro? Y'all? Should I mean y'all do live radio shat Yeah? I mean yeah, I mean it's the same bro. Yeah, y'all should definitely do like a trio act bro and just oh yeah, we want to do that. But he wants me to be a comedian. I want to
be a comedy show because I feel like it's easier. I mean, you could do crowd work, probably real easy, like angry so many people, you keep the ball up and then you don't let you did some stand up at our Christmas party recently, our company Christmas party last December. Well it wasn't supposed to be stand up. He was supposed to be an NC and keep things moving. But he pulled the stool up and had a seat. He went in you know when they man, it wasn't really well received,
but we were proud. I'll tell you some of my work. I was like, I was like, I might have been I might be the first Hispanic to host the Winner, what's the comedy? The Christmas party? I was like, this big moment for my people, and then it was a whole bunch of like white executives are just like I'm like that would say. This was my first real job where I got to respond to emails and ship and all. My ship always says something from my phone. I'm still getting
used to it. No, no, no, but I'm but I'm here. I'm present. I'm present the delivery. So aw I say hilarious, I can say ha ha, yeah, I'm blanking out right now. You know it's a big stage, right, I don't know what's going on. You know what you did? Fine? You know it's hard, man, Like I said, man, and you did it exactly, man. And you were on the field while the critics are sitting in the cheap seats. You know what I'm saying. I shouted out that fucking Jeff Garcia he got
IBS. I was like, I was like, like, put the battery on, No I did. I was like, Yo, we got catering, right, we got we got vegetables for the vegetarian ship. But to be honest, we need to worry about the IBS people do we got food for them because that's what really matters, you know. And I mean I thought I thought it, Jeff Yeah, yeah, yeah, went and down hump a stool, bro Yeah yeah yeah go physical right, yeah, physical
is just important. We'll start attacking the crowd, right. Crowd work is all I mean, it's easy, but not necessarily easy, but for a comedian, that's like the easiest thing to do. Well, if you think about it, like when you when a comic just crowd work, they'll be like, are y'all a couple? And let's say they look at each other, and the dude or the comic will be like, you had to think
about that, which is such an obvious observation. The crowd is a response because it's like it's so in the moment, so real, Like, ain't nothing realer than that. So it's like if you can just showcase that through jokes, through material and through something honest, you're winning for sure. You know. That's why like Patrisa O'Neil was so fire. It's like this dude unapologetically too soon. Man, That dude was vicious, bro crazy? Do
you write or are you? There's a lot of comedians that just go up there and they kind of have like like our guy Fluffy, right, he doesn't necessarily write nothing down. He just remembers stuff and then kind of puts it together in his head and goes out there and has a conversation with his fans. Are you something tells me you're writing and you're not sleeping for four days and you're just you're on the computer and you're right and you're trying to
get everything done correctly. Yeah, I mean I'm amidexterous. Yeah, you know what I'm saying creatively, Like I'll have every line written down in every pause, like color corrected or color coordinated on a Google doc. Pauses are so I'm like, cool, let me see what I'm going through. Yeah. Oh, bro, like like and those things make such a huge difference. Yeah, Bro, do y'all hear this pause? I want you to
feel the pose. Yeah right right, yeah, man, start writing right, and you're also up there kind of riffing as well, just to kind of see what works. Yeah, Like, I mean there's some like key points I want to say, like when I talk about being a Syrian, talk about being a rock, or if I talk about you know, topics that I really care about, I'm like I need every every word matters.
Yeah, every line like that i'm writing matters. Also, Like I'm a huge fan of like battle rap, and I'm like looking at the lyrics and it's like even the pauses and the intonations like all that matters. So it's like I write with that mentality breath controls that one stutter can ruin the entire joke, or one pause if it's too long, can ruin the setup and the punchline. I guess right, yeah, you know what I'm saying.
So and also it could be the thing that makes it. Like there's times where it's like I'll pause because I forgot something, and then the crowd just starts laughing. I'm like, oh, man, I should insert of pause here. That happened organically. That makes sense. So it's like, how do you make that feel real and not feel like manipulated? YEA. One
thing I learned as well was silence is hilarious. Silence is funny, and if you're sitting and it, then sit in it right and embrace it and figure it out while people are kind of wondering what's going on and giggling at the same time. Man, I tell my girl that all the time. I'm like, how great is silence? Babe? I know I forgot your birthday, but silence is your engagement. You know you were mentioning crowd.
How what would you say? It makes people more brave now to be a heckler during Man, people really feel their shows like, Yeah, people are so entitled because they do it for the cloud. They want to they want to do it for their social media pages. Bro, I'm leaving shows, like at some of my shows, and then it's like I'll open the floor up to just do some CrowdWork and get some clips. Also, i want to like get to know people. And I'm like looking around and I see
notes that people left on the floor. That's like if he asks me who I'm dating? Line here and they have things pre written, ready to go, stories, ready to go, and I'm working as hard as you are Ryan Heckler's but yeah, is it color cord. No, they don't know enough to do. Fucking Everybody wants to be tiktoked, like even at Matt's shows. As an audience. That's why we all. Everyone has an audience, Everyone has a voice that you know they think it's important, and everyone
has is cloud chasing. Bro. The thing is it's like look cloud chase, and let's say you do get famed, and now what you're going to do. It's like you're on the mound, throw a pitch. What you're gonna do? Yeah, no, no offense to yours As an analogy, Yeah, And I also feel like to like people just want like that moment, Like especially Heckler's, like they are just drunk. They just want to do it and they're not going to do anything with that cloud that they get.
They just know that they're going to be no honestly, Yeah, they just want to ruin your night. Yeah and talk about it with their friends. Yeah. They want to make it about them. Yeah, yeah, one hundred percent. You know what I'm saying. How Scripture doing? He's got new music out or what's going on? Oh, bro, aren't Scripture? So so Scripture is still at the crib, still fighting trying to make it happen. Yeah yo, Yeah, Scripture became Jack Harlowe. Isn't this
crazy? So so he goes by Mike Foy Okay, now so he goes by his real name. He was like he was spelling scripture with a K. Okay he grew up. Yeah, he was like, man, people had a hard time finding my music because I spelled scripture different. So that yeah, that's the problem. Yeah, ba ba baby. How there was a scripture with three k's. You know we gotta film that in four k not The Jackie will encourage you just enough to make you feel like gas lighter,
Yeah, good job, loser. What's his new name? He just goes by his government name. Repeat that. Yeah, I'm still making music. We got to chuck them. He's still making music. Bro, This dude has eleven albums out amazing, God bless him. Man. Yeah, man, I'm just hustling. No, why no, that's so cool. No, no, no, but that's I mean, that's man, the guy who doesn't give up. Man, that's the guy who can't be beat,
right, bro. And a lot of his songs are like, I ain't gonna give up, not gonna stop, and he goes, I got this song called I'm Gonna keep on chasing it. I got this other song called you Can't Stop Me. Uh huh, that's right, that's right. I'm still going yeah, bro, And it's like, man, Like sometimes it's like because I know some comics, bro, and just some artists in general that been the game for so long. Yeah, so fire. But I'm just like, Bro, your marketing is trash. You're getting out there
is just awful. And it's like, but they're so good, Yeah, are so good. And it's like a lot of those people end up being bitter and then they just stay stagnant. Yeah. I know a few of these guys and they're good friends of mine, right, but you can be completely honest, right, they are comedians. There's comedians, and then there's like funny funny people on Instagram and TikTok and social media, and they're selling out comedy clubs. Now, they're selling out the Laugh Factory and you know
flappers here in Burbank right off of their social media comedy? Is that? Is that? A? Is there a difference? Do you look down upon those guys? Nah? Man, I don't knock anyone's hustle. Bro. If you get fans that want to come out and have a good time, like they're selling out shows and bro, just because you're comedy is different than mine? Like who am I to say? This? Is? You know what I'm saying? Is that like Jake Paul and boxing? Is that like
yeah, I mean look he can fight. Yeah, that dude can fight. Man, that dude fuck us all up? Yeah, bro, and not all of us together. Yeah we got the Russian homie connect. Yeah yeah. But but it's like, you know, when it comes to like actual like vulnerability and like what are you saying? I always ask people like let's say you kill You're in a crowd and you just smash. I ask
like what's below the iceberg? Like what are you killing with? You killing with just some random joke about sex and I'm like, yeah, it is funny, or do you have substance? There's substance to it. So me, I just realized, if I want to make an impact in this world, if I just want people to really remember my name, I got to really start focusing on what's blow the iceberg? Yep? And like what am I actually presenting people? Am I presenting disposable content? Just some what do
y'all do? Oh? You had to think about that material or actually stuff that's like from my heart, about my family, like things I really care about. Yeah, I think that ensures longevity. Yeah. Not that the TikTok stuff isn't funny. That's funny stuff. Yeah, and those skits are
funny, and you know a lot of them are really funny. On say, they found their purpose, I guess, you know, And I think that's cool, you know, like my guy Concrete and do know like these guys they're trying, Jay Valentino, They're trying and it's working for them. Yeah. I think I think it's important to like everybody got an audience. If you create an audience, right, and then you just see what they
like. If that's what they like, you just feed what they like, you know, and if they show up, they show up and they're doing numbers, so that's that's amazing they are. It's opening up a different kind of like lane for I think a lot of people, and I think it's good for comedy, kind of much like Jake probably boxing more eyes, more eyes to comedy, not that ice to comedy we're lacking. But I mean, yeah, I mean it can't it can't hurt it. I don't think.
You know, as long as your purpose as an individual is your purpose, that's all it really matters. Because like what you said, what you do is what you do, and it works for you, what for somebody else works for somebody else. As long as everybody's getting it, you can knock one hundred percent. Like people would be hating on my boy Matt Rife.
They'll be like, you know, oh, he's doing crowd work, and he's like, you know what he's doing for comedy, Like, and I'm just like, bro, he's bringing new fans to comedy, people that come to the shows. Like when I would open up for him, I'd just be like, who's never been to a comedy show? Yeah, and like sixty to seventy percent of the crowd is making noise. They've never they've never been been to a show, and like now they just he just opened
up a whole new audience. Yeah, And I'm like, he's doing good for the culture. Nothing wrong with that, right, the comedy culture for sure. Man, who do you listen to as far as hip hop? As far as hip hop? Is it still? Like is it like are you underground rap head? Or are you listening to sexy read man? Well, he said battle rap, so bro, I love battle rap man. I love like I'll watch Iron Solomon videos for days, agro one like you know, U r L rap battles Like, I'm just I'm really tapped into
you know, Real Sick. I love Real Sick. He's one of my favorite battle rappers right now. Yeah. These dudes, they're they're man, They're built different. They're built different, dog man. Were you watching like King of the Dot? King of the Dot? Yeah? Wow, Disaster was in what league? Disaster? Disaster bounced around? I think he fought
everybody, Yeah, everybody times. Everybody got it, bro. His punchlines were punches yeah, I've seen some battle rapper, like the dude he he calls out the guy he's battling, right and just releases in that nobody should know. Yeah yeah, bro, why are you going to say his dad was a pedophile? Yeah? Yeah, true, he goes pedophile with style. He got goal. I'm like, he got got So how do you use a love of a battle rap into your comedy? It's approach, right,
It's that. Yeah, it's really approach. I'm like, how can I say the what I want to say the most clever way possible, Like like, you know, like I wanted to talk about a rock in a creative way and talk about like my family and I'm like, oh, I know exactly how to say it. I'm like, my parents are from Iraq. And then the crowd is just silent, they don't know what to do this information. And then when they're quiet, I'm like, man, y'all,
haven't forgotten about that thing we didn't do? And then yeah, and I let them live in that reality and I'm like, man, that pause and like that way of saying it is not like you know, when it comes to actual vocabulary as creative, but it's simple enough to where you understand exactly what I'm saying, and the pause does a lot of the lifting form and this isn't racial, but it goes off later, right yeah, yeah, Like that's so good man, No stop is That's what I'm saying.
For lack of a better term, like, it goes off in their heads later and they're like, oh, shoot, right, and then they start to form it in their own head and it's almost like you made them realize the punchline. We made him think about the punch yeah, and then makes them think about a lot and it's like, yeah, a rack is innocent.
We didn't do anything. Country was invaded my parents' family like a lot of like trauma and things that have happened during that time, with things that I see my mom cry about all the time, my family cry out. And I'm like, yes, sir, man, if I can say something to be like, you know, to honor that or just pale my stand some way, then I'm doing my job, you know what I'm saying. And then it's like in hip hop, I got I gotta say this man,
eminem is my opinion best not because I'm from Detroit. This dude's pen is outrageous. Crazy. It's outrageous crazy to see the rhymes disrespect Eminem, like he's not like one of the great Vinzino not the greatest, or like you know, Vinzino looks like Thanos. Can we talk about that ben Z as well. They're just like he's all right, I don't listen to him or like Gucci means like I've never you know, drove around listening to Eminem but it's like, kill bro, that's crazy. Yeah yeah, even when
like Killer Mike one all those Grammys. I remember my boyfriend's cousin, who's like what eighteen? He texted me, He's like, who's Killer Mike? I was like, what the are you talking about? Crazy? Like that's crazy. It's bro. You are like, you know, legend of hip hop game, Bro, Like you know you've heard everything, and it's like to see people sort of like forget about these legends like this young Also I'll say this, maybe this young crowd might forget, but it's like, bro,
they well you will never. I just don't think the legend would ever go away, you know what I'm saying, Just because it's like you listening to some dude on TikTok rap about nothing right, no, no, no, no, it's like these bars are and then you when you play stand They're like, oh yeah that song. Yeah you play rap God, They're like, oh yeah that guy. No. I mean Eminem became a legend twenty years ago and he's just living in his legendary and he could come out
tomorrow and shit on everybody. It doesn't even matter. He could come out tomorrow and take a shit anybody that's existing. Yeah, then just go back to his crib and watch ninety dance and raised his right rais his donna. B man, that's it. Have you ever been to his house of Verha met him? Nah? Man, But bro, that's on my buckle list, man, Like, like I really want to meet like Royce, Like
I just want to talk to him. Just talking about Book of Ryan Man like when it first came out, like Tabernacle, Like like when I first listened to Tabernacle, ye, I was like, Bro, this dude is just saying his autobiography. Yeah yeah, he's reporting from his life. Yeah, reporting live from his life. And I'm like, man, how do I do that? Yeah? You know what I'm saying. I'm like, that's how you get legendary status. Like how do I talk about my life
this way? And it's like the bars were just like every line, Like, I'm just like, he's talking about being in the hospital, his grandmother dying on one floor and his son being birthed in another, right, and I'm just like what. And then I would talk about Tabernacle and people are like, wait, who's that again? You know what I'm saying. But I'm just like, Bro, if you ain't in it, and if you're not actually seeking dope hip hop and seeking dope stories, then it's like,
you know, I guess people are seeking what they're seeking. Yeah, of course. Oh yeah. So much music, legendary music and legendary artists have come out of Detroit. Yeah. Man, it's insane. You know, Shot the Big Sean as well, crazy right man. Yeah, and there's so many on the way as well. I mean there's there's so much hipop and there's so much talent in Detroit. It's out of here. It's crazy. Yeah. Man, it just needs its space, I guess, right
to shine. Yeah, but we And that's what I really want to do, bro, Like, I just want to talk about Detroit more and let people know, like the hustle and the mentality of Detroit artists is real,
you know what I'm saying. It's like a lot of them are working two three jobs and then opening at a concert and then it's like you're going up first and ain't nobody there and you're just hoping you just get some get some clips out of it, and then like you go back to your job and it's like and they're just like, yeah, bro, this is my life and I'm gonna keep doing this until, you know, until it pops, until it works. How many years until the Pistons become a winning team?
Man? And this is a bitter Laker fan because you ruined our three peat so many I didn't play. I wasn't playing Now that mentions that ship you gotta go. I call Shan Prince personally, I don't think you better and Rip Hamilton, Yeah yeah, I told him to wear the mask even though his nose was regular, you can still wears the mask. You know that you guys have some talent. I mean, what what what exactly is going
on with the which I think is a great coat. Bro. It's it's like putting together a puzzle and it's like you just dump it down and all the puzzles are flipped backwards and upside down. It's like it's gonna take a while. Like, I think it it's management, Bro. I think it's management. I think it's morale. Like I think just even with the Lions and just the morale of Detroit, like people are still shown up to the games, Bro, people are still showing up to the games. People still
want them to win. But it's just I think it's a ground up situation, bro, Like we got some good young talent, but we just need Hey, Bro, it's a ground up situation. Yeah, the ground up anyway. Like I don't speaking very vaguely, I don't even know how to
get specific with it. Like I'm looking at their record. I'm just like, man, like y'all are, like I think we're like eight and a lot, right, a lot in infinity, Yeah, like Detroit fans and Knicks fans right like Yo, It's like that's a tough conversation though, yeah, man, and Wizards and Clippers fans. Yeah. Yeah, the Wizards need to change their name or something. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, we gotta figure like the Washington winners or something. Manifest I speaking in right,
are you being into manifesting and ship speaking things existence man. I think people use different terms bro, like I'm a I'm pro god man. I think he use god man. Yeah, yeah, we got we gotta, we gotta poor little God into lecture here. He's not necessarily believe it. But he's not an atheist. Yeah, he just doesn't believes are Ma. And that's why a discussion for interviews and no, well no, that's why. That's why you are who you are. That's part of who you are.
You know what I mean? I love so listen dog, if you if you want to get into detail. They thought I was gonna be a pastor when I was a kid because I used to go to church and you used to tell my mom, Oh, your son Daniel is going to be You still got a cross ear ring? Yeah, you know, so you still wear the Jesus merch. I support the cause, the March Fire, fear of God. I got stop. I'm not a fan of Kanye because of what he's doing now, but I still wear easy Yeah, I got the
call. Still wearing his Yeah, I don't know what I am. I never noticed you wear a cross. He has been up for four years. That's the first thing I noticed. I got no hanging Jesus Peace on the left. That's right, that's right. Let but they're still that means he's leaving the door. Yeah, gospel according to lest I don't know. I believe like if we want to get metaphorical ship like heaven and the hell is now right, you decide what you're doing, Like, if you want to
act good and do good, you're gonna live in heaven real time. During piece of ship stuff, you're gonna be living in the hell. So in retrospect, like I believe in heaven or Hell, Yes, but I think it's now what about after I haven't gotten that far because I'm trying to live in real time. Yeah, it's all like fun. That's just like I'll get back to you when I die. I'll report back. I'll hit you up on Twitch, streaming past the gates a subscribe. Man. Well,
look, God bless you man. After all that, God bless you man, and you're killing it. You're doing a great job. Man, Detroit, a lot of Mexicans are No, we have Mexicans out there, bro, there's like a good Hispanic population in Detroit. Yeah, man's a Southwest Detroit job of choice out there. What are we doing are we are we fixing cars? Are we selling stuff? What are we doing? I mean,
honest, man, tell me what you've seen. I'll tell this the the the Hispanic hustle, Bro, it's very much like the Middle Eastern hustle. I'm saying. It's like you go to a Korean restaurant and it's like you see an Arab dude named Ahmed and he's cooking with Jose and they're cooking that ship up and we're cooking. Yeah, bro, you know what I'm
saying, and like they both don't understand each other. The best Italian restaurants there's yeah, there's uh, there's Middle Eastern people and Mexican people working in the kitchen. Yeah, bro, Japanese. All the ships are Hispanic. They're all Hispanic. Bro. It just should be called and Ijuana there he is Juana, that's the name of the special. But yeah, so we do have Mexicans of Detroit and we're working hard out there. Yeah, Bro.
The trades very man. I mean obviously, like you know in the automotive field and you know the you know, Ford Motor Company and like christ are all those over there. So it's like a lot of Arabs Hispanics. I mean, bro, And it's like and the sons of immigrants, you know what I'm saying in them, Like even when I was at Wayne State, you know what I'm saying, I'm about to go to law school before
I decided to drop out. Yeah. Man, And it's like, Bro, like my classmates, I'm like, you know, middle Eastern Hispanic and it's like and I'm like, what does your parents do? Like, Oh, my parents own mechanic shop. All my parents own a restaurant. Oh my parents, you know, own their own car dealership. My parents on the own insurance company. They own own laundry service. So it's like all these trades jobs with the most hustled by the ways, right, Like you
gotta work man. Yeah. And I know Jackie mentioned this earlier. I know you got to get going, but you were recently engaged as well. Right. Congratulations man, Bro, I'm so blessed. Man. She's from Venezuela. That's right, very nice, well done. She got a pretty much from a homiere. What's the hashtag? G you guys got a couple of hashtags? Or no, you guys have hashtags? I don't know what is it? Hashtag? No, it's like he's talking about the regular Rocky.
So we're a hashtagging you like that as well as in my life. You know, listen, bro, I got you, man. She got a bunch of friends and she's in She's about a graduate dental school. My guy friends, the dentist she hooked them teeth. I need you need a side check the relationship. I want to discount. Broo, Bro, we all need your fiance. Do we all missing teeth in this? Bro? She'll come through. Yeah, Bro, she's haled up c l A. So she is about a graduate from u c l A. I met my
fiance on Instagram when she first started UCLA dental school. She was a dentist in Venezuela. Right, and then when you come to America, a lot of immigrants with various degrees, they don't mean anything here. Basically they were just like, yeah, we just start over. Yeah, because things are not the same. Education is, but teeth is the same. Though. Right over there, that's our teeth, our teeth. It's not these,
not these, not these Uncle Sam chompers players. Bro. Like bro, she just reminds me of my mom, man, Like she just had such beautiful hustle Bro, like came here, didn't speak English, started working at a restaurant. Uh worked her way up and then started to apply different schools and then u c l A except her into the international program. Yeah. But I'm learning about Venezuela and culture and it's like very similar to rocky culture. Bro. And oh that's awesome man. Yeah, it's good work.
