Hey guys welcome to the crown of command podcast. Thank you very much for downloading this episode once again. And today we've got a great interview with Tom young but as due to that white the visual nature of this particular interview it's probably best. If you head over to the YouTube channel to check out Tom's wonderful collection of painted aux for 40K. Okay. And his dwarf Army and his caste War for me as well as we're talking through it.
Because, yeah, we're talking about it but obviously, usually you can't see it. So hopefully, you know, I think hopefully this poor audio is, you know, of a decent, you know, listening pleasure to you. But if not, then I would just suggest to go over to the YouTube by YouTube channel at
the crown of command podcast. This just tapped up in the search or I'll leave a link down here in the I know it's head over there and you can see the interview in full with all the great visuals as we talk through as Zoom interview. So, please go and do that and please subscribe, and please share with other people that you would think, would enjoy these interviews or the game battle reports that I'm doing.
I'm also doing a livestream now. Every Sunday I've sort of slot, that's lot of that in your every Sunday. Now, in beta Tokyo time at about 11 p.m. every week. So I can connect with people that aren't on Facebook, who aren't on Discord or whatever. And A nice little. We're going to build a nice little Community every Sunday,
they're just doing hobby stuff. I did a bit of terrain, a bit of assembly work on MySpace or project and I think this Sunday we're going to do some epic terrain and we're going to do some maybe some high off talk because I'm painting currently painting a big project for the fanzine which includes all the starter set High Elves that are contained within Then the box set with a few additions, this is for the morgue throned pass
scenario. So it's it's basically consists of 20, high of spearmen, 20 arches, but these have like metal command groups in them. So effective, that is 17, plus the three command and Authority on storming, of course, thanks to a very generous listener who sent that to me. And we have a bolt thrower. That will consist of the higher forces, my good friend Marcel, and Germany he's painting up the
Goblins as we as we speak. So for his part of that and we're doing that for the fanzine as a fun little kind of, you know, A Tale of Two Old, Gamers or something like that. Maybe or tailored to Gamers, you know that want to see a scenario. Completed that we can play remotely because we both have both of the armies and we can
play remotely. And I think Marcel wants to take that on a bit of a road show to the bring out, your let event in the future to run as demos for people, which would be amazing to see as well. So, yeah, a lot of stuff happening guys. At the moment I did finish off a 1,000 Point, walk me for my second edition me that I got to play with the holidays, which is Of fun. And it was nice to come back to 2nd edition.
Finally, again, after being really excited to play it and me and Paul had a good time, reliving our memories of second edition, and I hope to play a lot more of that in the future. I had planned to paint a lot more of that, as like an army project, but I am going to commit to my promises with myself and start getting these High Elves underway. So I'm already three almost three down. Down at the moment. So if I can get to done a week, then I'm sorry if I can do that a day.
That's my target. Getting too high off stun a day then I'm looking pretty good to getting it done in about 2 weeks easy. So yeah, so that's been fun. I love all these challenges. All these hobby goals. I think people are doing the same thing.
They're sort of, you know, finding a Target that they just need to reach within a certain time limit and then sticking to it and getting they can see the progress being made over time and you know hopefully reaching that goal by the end and having some painted Miniatures as a Wood by the end of it. So, yeah. So thanks guys for supporting the channel. Thanks guys, for supporting the podcast, I really appreciate it. Big thanks to Tim Baxter.
Sent me an email saying, it's all my fault that he is knee-deep in Hobby projects now and it's really helping him get through a difficult time in his situation. So thanks Tim for that. And yeah, thanks for all the birthday wishes for the podcast. Because yeah, it's now officially one year old Well, and truly and I hope you enjoyed the last episode when we had a bit of a birthday bash for the crown the command, but until then, let's get on with the
show. And again, like I said to get the, you know, the full hundred percent visual gratification of looking at all these armies head over to my YouTube channel and check out the full interview there. But this is just the audio for you guys, and hopefully, we can bring you some more interview soon. Okay. Take care. Okay, so here we are, the kind of command. And today, I have a very special guest in, Tom young, Tom. Thanks, very much for coming onto the show.
Make hello pleasure. Thank you for inviting me. Cheers, at the pleasure is all mine. Because, yeah, it's been good that we've connected again I think through Instagram. We got to we got to contact each other again through maybe the space walks. And stuff like that. And you know, I remember seeing your, your imagery of your aux on Facebook, as well through the second edition. Yeah. A group and all that kind of stuff. I'm pretty sure. Like, I'm pretty sure I sent you
a model but some did. And when we talked again just recently, I was at work on Friday, I scroll down, I thought hang on, I see this parcel and I see this dwarf and then I remember, oh yeah, Tom sent me. Kindly sent me one of them raw to Champions. I was after two complete Command set. So thanks again. Let's talk about that. Yeah, I don't really. Yeah, it was one. I struggled paying.
I had to pay him twice. I think I'm like I just didn't like it. I don't know why he's a nice model but like not for me. Yeah, it's just now. Thanks again. Mike because that will just complete my. I'm trying to complete the more order. Marauder line of Miniatures with the doors as in my favorite as a fantasy Army. So but anyhow, we're here to talk about your wonderful work in the, in the miniature hobby. But first, maybe we can talk about how you got into the hobby mate.
Oh, yeah. So Maybe, I don't know quite a few years ago, maybe five years ago. I think I hurt my back and I like being really physical and then straight after hearing. My backup had like me operation, when all out on that, and then I found that I couldn't do like Jim work, which was a big part of my life and then you just like, what else can I do? And like, kind of exposes like a smell like a Your life crisis. There's something to fill the
time. It's like a hobby, you know, I like speaking to other people and friends like most of them don't have a hobby. It's a, it's a weird thing. So it's quite nice thing to do. I like, when I am started looking at models again kind of like the only ones are really Interested me with the ones that I knew as a kid. I guess. Like, you have the whole like so
many people. They have the whole reminisce Factor. When you look at them, you just brought straight back into the excitement of, like, going in a game one, they were. So when I was a kid, there was so rare that you'll go see the shop. I think, at the time, I grew up in Swansea, can't remember whether I went to the shopping Swansea or not know whether there was But there was certainly a white dwarf that picked it up in wh Smith and that was good.
But then I moved to East Sussex I think and the closest Games Workshop there was in Tunbridge Wells which is like 40 minutes drive away or something like that and but go in there was a rare occurrence. I don't think I think I had maybe I want to say I had 50p a week pocket money. You say you very much and then off you go grab one. Yeah, it was brilliant. Loved it. So it was good. Trying to recreate that like a feeling. Yeah. Plus now you got, I had a little bit more.
Like nose excess cash, but like money that I can spend on other things like the gym subscription or whatever, and then it was just nice to be able to, like, by the Miniatures. I like coveted as a kid. Yeah, it was good. I think the space Hulk ones here, most of them have come Either through trading Pages. Like I've swapped a lot of them and then obviously, you've got the inevitable eBay. I find God. I bought them before the prices on them, like skyrocketed, sweet, Jesus.
They're like proper expensive now. Yeah. The Holy Grail of any any collector now. I think made the cows tools. Yeah, yeah. Of them sent from. I can't remember his name. Now, he'll have it'll come back to me, but they most of them come from a collector in Canada. He sent them over, I'd sold a load of 6th edition. Like the monopoles metal dwarfs are sold a load of those to a guy ever again. And then with that money, pretty much swap them for the k-source. Yeah, it was good.
I like it was, it was very good of the guy in Canada to sell them to me for, like, like a legit price. It was like I didn't mind paying for them like that, but now they're like, 10-pounder pop like close cougar, spend money on that. The most, the most unwanted Army back in the day when they came out. No one went by. I never saw had cast off Army in my entire history of playing the game and then all of a sudden they've just become this Rarity that everybody needs to get and
Acts and even myself. I've been and, you know, I've got myself caught into it as well. I looked at the book and a thought and a lot of the managers now let respective thinking actually, they're pretty cool. I wouldn't mind painting up a unit of those and incorporating my own talk units and black org units to make an army. But yeah, but not at not at those silly price has absolutely no. That's I think an like, I think, the first models are start hanging. Would have been like kind of
before I hurt my back. Actually I wanted to make like chess set and I use them. The old metal gobbling squeak Hoppers as like pawns. I like it. Never finished it. I like it was the start of, like something in my brain. Just maybe I should get back into it but yeah, those that are me there. I've got like a kind of goblin army I think they're like it's tucked away in a drawer somewhere. Most of it's probably like falling to bits. Okay, well, let's have a look at this Army.
We're going to bring up on the screen now. Oh yeah, they're cast off one's. Yeah, yeah. So really, really cool. And yeah, a vast collection of stuff, mate. How many models are in this particular Army? Do you know? I've told him I didn't do like a model count, but I can tell you like, is probably the same amount is not painted, really, but there, but mostly hobgoblins. So, like, missing out of this one here. The like sneaky gets guys with arrows.
There's a couple more Wolf Riders, there's loads of blunderbusses, I hate paying them, but they look good as a unit. But like the the blender best is won't good. Yeah, the resolution isn't reasonable. It's not going to work. I thought I'll just try to zoom in but I just thought I saw this. A gentle walk over here and I've never seen a gentle walk. I don't think I've ever seen the model. I've never seen the model and I've never seen one painted. So It looks it actually looks
like a pretty cool model. Yeah, man. It's brilliant. On a side. Note, they mean upscaled and kind of remodeled I think is in my maliit marelit, mirliton Miniatures. They've got like a, they've got a Jabo up, which is pretty much exactly the same as that one, but maybe the poses flopped around, but it's scaled up for the new kind of Coaching scale of them models in and increased another one that goes along with the cloud giant. So they remodeled Cloud town.
And if my eyes don't mistake mistake me in that org unit you've got a whole heap of Bolt, throw a crewman, the guy with the spear and the yeah cool. The leader of this war band is the is I think this is some kind of walk Chieftain like from Third Edition it's a really nice small to really like them. Also Yeah, but these, these hooks here are like, I'm like, I'm very fond of the one-piece metal miniature, you know me,
take him. I don't mind sticking arms on, but like, I don't want to stick like 50 pieces together. I think there's a certain charm to put one piece molds, especially if they get a shield included. I like him. I like the type. You don't have to do anything with them. Yeah. So all the Orcs here, I think they are painted with like regular paint. Where's all of the chaos dwarfs and hobgoblins? They specifically painted trying? I'm trying to like, have a go using the content.
The Games Workshop contrast pink. So that's why they vary slightly different in tone, but they worked out. Well, especially for the bull centers. The yeah, I like painting them with them came out. Well, That's a nice-looking backdrop. The painted backdrop there to made the reflection of the sky and the water is very well done. Did you do that? Yes. How about the Bob? Ross tutorial for bra. See, this kind of failed at guys? Have subgenius that bloke? Yeah, yeah.
It's like, that's the first, that's the first goal. A is well, you know, never tried it before. Never done anything. Just follow the video and like it was brilliant. Really good? Yeah. My dear sister, he's such a fantastic guy until I leave release recently. Covered in because of these names that came out on Facebook and I had no idea who this person was.
And one of my American colleagues at work, he started talking about him and I said, okay, I'm going to check him out and he seems like the most nicest person in the world. Doesn't he the boss? Yeah, as the late. Great Bob Ross, I should say. Yeah. But you know these Partners like there's a great resource for Coast Warsaw online and like these banners Has that are used throughout. They were remastered for and you can print them out and they come out Hai definitions exact
sizing. And like I remember the guy who did it in Milan DK, think is on there. So like many thanks to him. Otherwise I probably would never have done that as I hate pink, right? Okay, that's it's probably something I should do. You know, like, with your space or looks like Honours. Look amazing that brilliant and like totally making Army and with my Imperial dwarfs, it's one of I really should go back an app and it's because it should like it, just completes it. All right.
Now with the Imperials, that's all I'm missing is upon us, maybe it's time consuming but bloody hell you to pay that you painted a Bob Ross backdrop. That's that's nothing compared or better. But yes that that the Bob Ross backdrop there was Like a lockdown challenge with my partner. Emma. Yeah. Cool. Yeah. So she paid fun as well and they both got like pluses and minuses. I preferred hers, she preferred mine.
So yeah, it's good. Yeah, but yeah, Ben has been Azara thing that they do really just enhance the unit's a lot and yeah, yeah. I think they're just something from, from this particular error as well. Banners will just a major part of, you know, the to complete a unit. They always came with a banner to finish him off. Oh, here we go, there's another With the snowy mountains, the Alps in the background there. Nice. Okay. Let's go to box photo. Here we go. We've got some. Yeah yeah yeah.
Yeah, I've got a load of these plastic ones. I like, I think currently, they're seeing it, like three pound each, which is 3 pounds each, that is suppose to oppose. Yeah. It is insane. This guy in The Middle on the long, they're kind of like horned beast. That's a great model and you can still get that that's called a krung beast. Like I was surprised when I was looking for inspiration for Knowing that put a cast off sitting on top of it. Yeah. Yeah.
The crop. The crown Beast is that a citadel model, I think. I want to say your easy. Well it's still it's still in print is still in production. I can't remember where it come from. I type it into type it in now it will come up and I've never seen it before so maybe it's affordable model. Perhaps didn't Forge weld? Go back and do some cast wolves in the no no. This one here is Malik's like right? I see Yeah. And okay. So you've got like a giant
lizard or something like that. Maybe yeah. Like a bat basileus Elementos and yeah. Yeah, basilisk. I kind of got you well, at least for me. Please. Leave monsters you done at Saks. I've never seen an army with lots of monsters in it. Yeah, well, like we was we got a briefing for the rule of cool. Like I just like the little like be nice to have like a total chaos animals around.
That's great. Yeah, because it's something I rarely rarely see and I really love would like to have a collection of monsters as well from that period because they're such great models. These Guys these little Tara Birds they're all they were awesome to paint. They come up in a my local game store and I think they were 50p each lovely. Hmm. What's this thing here with the colored feathers on its head? It's an older, how big and turned out to be way more of a
parrot Bear, right? Okay. This this is still, this is still made this. This, this one here, I can't remember the name of the manufacturer but if you're typing I'll bear on Google, it will come up. It looks like an old-world old world, Miniatures range or something like that or all because it old, well, not old world. So old-school miniature range or something out of?
Yeah, it's cool now but Did I do a lot of D&D type based model models and that kind of thing but ya know really nice collection they make really lovely. Okay. So nice but they're the beasts like an the yeah they pretty much all contrast paint.
It was good so I would do what's it called finger all like race bone spray I think and then contrast over the top And then regular paint mixed in with the contrast to highlight it and then they're all varnished with like a liquor and then the incredible like testers dulko just to finish him off frustratingly, I didn't do it with my Imperial. So I've got an entire, like, week of trying to, and trying to get the dust off of them and then vanish.
And yeah, getting dust on models is a bit of a pain. I've noticed that with some old models are picked up. Recently from from you know from yesteryear that yeah they do build up this really yucky kind of you know Dusty areas on the models which I think the only way to get rid of is actually just washing them. Just put it under that water will get a soft brush and just brush off the dust.
Yeah it's or someone suggested to blow them with like an airbrush but like I don't have an airbrush or anything like they're not brush. The like the only thing I have is like a spray can for undercoating if it's ingrained dust. It's different from just dust that settled on the top, you know, from the past year, like it's been there for, like, 20, or years, or something like that, then you really need to wash it off. But, but, yeah, made us all day. Sort of it.
You go for it. Well, fortunately, they're all like, they've all got like a magnet on the bottom. So, like, you know, it's not. So you can stick them on a metal ruler and then off you go, yes, they're all still be good. At least it makes it easier. Have you actually played a game with these no frustratingly? Know, I haven't, it's like a resolution for next year, really think. But primarily I'm more interested in like the smaller game. So neck, reminder blood Bowl
neck, reminder more. Especially right. Nice one man. Okay, okay, alright, so, let's now jump into the Is the dwarves. Now we'll get will go for the Orcs first, I'll go for the Orcs first we'll go through the Orcs And you can tell us your story about how this all started this project. And yeah, it's most people I think would recognize your Orcs from social media sites and they probably come across your amazing work. So, yeah, go go. We just talked about this particular one here.
Please, tell us a story about this one here, Tom this first. Well, that guy there on the left. I think he's like, you've done capital and cataloged, or unreleased a car, remember. But he was sent to me in like, Anais eBay find where was a group of models sold for thecreated and I think he came and then load of the like, the freemen freebooters so like, think it was like this guy. Yeah, he came with him. I like a lot of other dudes.
And so I was very fortunate that he was just tucked away in the back and just not not noticed. I think by the seller and like, At the moment. I'm trying to paint an example of all of the runt heads. So I've got like a vast majority of them and like I've got I think maybe three left thing, but he was a nice. Nice find just scrolling through, just scrolling through eBay. Saw him in the background in recognizing couldn't like had a look through the catalog. Couldn't see him.
It was like interesting by even I like, I like how he's like the opposite of On the right. Yeah, yeah, definitely. I'd love to. I love that stuff. He's holding the face on the, on the staff. Here is amazing. Yeah, I think. Yeah. I think. Yeah. Where your where your pointer is by the horn, you can see the paint rubbed off the top, there's a big blue paint. Just on the left, the left hand
horn, I think round the side. There's bits of splodge has, but I see them now and there I like being Annoy the hell out the but I like it just kills my motivation to paint going back in and having to like redo stuff. So in the interest of like continuing to pain it's just best to leave him and move on. I think I didn't notice it before Tom but thanks for pointing it out. In itself. You can point out the the blotches of pain in the wrong areas.
Not that old but just glare out of me but like this the guy on the left there like I love his face. His face is probably one of the best that I've painted I think is. Yeah it just it just fell out really nicely like didn't Like, I think if I was to paint it again, it probably wouldn't get anywhere near it. No, it was really good. I really like the face on this guy, actually the unreleased dude and I love his eye and I kind of think this is like really fiery red and yeah.
Just and you hitting these with contrast paints as well. Yeah, no gasps. No, I'm so good about that. It's GW, smooth green as a base and then I think it's warped lightning, which is a contrast I'm using it as a, as a shade, I guess, as a wash then, highlight up again, using the mooc green is it? Flash gets yellow some mix that in and then a mix in a white. And then I go in with like a fluorescent paint which is probably why they're quite
bright. So it's either very thin kind of like you can barely notice it a thin bit green. And then in the eye sockets it's like a purple and then obviously round the mouth is the red and pink. Yeah. But I like the red and pink round. The mouth is literally just highlight with the new green, The Flash gets yellow and a white highlight up to a very nearly white. And then just a very thin glaze over the top, it was like quite easy to do in the effect has been really good like I'm very
pleased with them. Yeah, you're always really visually striking. You know what I mean? Like, that's the first thing that struck me when I saw it, I thought, wow, there's so many colors here but it all works together. Usually, if you have too many colors on models, it kind of has like the opposite effect but for some reason you just pulled it off man. And like it they just look really really cool.
But you when you're talking about too many colors on models half the inspiration for trying to paint a lot. Brighter is Louise. Such didn't septum She's a Savage old guy on Instagram and like her models are like how the world. Yeah brilliant unlike her guy called snotting discotheque have been a big inspiration in trying to paint a lot brighter. My Imperial dwarfs, when I look back on them, they look a lot darker and I wish that they were
a bit brighter. That's probably because I undercoated gray for the Dwarfs. Soooo whereas these of ski and the code white? Yeah, yeah, I've gone back to the same thing like going to the back to the same principles. What I did was back in the 90s just I just gone back and just primed everything white now. Yeah and it's made a massive difference. It really brings your models, you know, there was a little tote look like little torch lights on the tabletop and I did the same thing.
I did everything in life, Darkrai in the past, and in my doors, I had to repaint. Just wait. We paint over them because there was too dark for my liking. Yeah. But you know very, very visually striking me once. Yeah, they can go into that for me for that. Their see. See the banner that last directly your inspiration. Man, I'll call mine. Excellent. That's, that's all I need. That would be good. Excellent. Yeah, I really like that a lot. But I love this model to in the conversion.
You've done, you've given like the Gaskell claw, but I think that's Eric's clause in it. Is that you're at school? Yeah, nice. Yeah. But like, that's also another odd Point. Like, not like trying to try to find a model as trying to find someone that's like, put the Eric's clor on him. It just seems like a like the correct thing to do, but I couldn't find a model that had it on there. Yeah, super pleased. I'm with this one here. I'm a little annoyed that I didn't paint one of the Space
Marines helmet. One of the Space Marine helmet should be white or like red. I like I think is a little bit too much blue, but especially likes a on it on his belt where it fades into his kind of cloak trim. That's a big area blue that I think should have been broken up is like maybe a white or red stripe Palmer on the face, but That's, that's the only thing this one here. This model here was like I think the first Model.
I painted for these Orcs And I'm currently paying I'm currently like rounding off the rest of the army. They're all being painted for the old world Army challenge, also Yannick Martin for setting up and like it's been a massive push to get them done. Yeah it's been good. Yeah, man. It's been brilliant. I hadn't realized you painted so many models. Yeah, they sent but the challenge has been a good inspiration for you to motivate you.
To get a lot of stuff done here. Yeah, yeah some of these models here like they haven't appeared on the blog yet so their skin passes. One I think like maybe is it next picture? Where? It's got the picture of the guy in the Hat. Still, it's him. Yeah, there you go. So we was talking about like how photography makes a difference.
So just get back. Yeah, you see, like, for everyone listening or watching, like, I just used my phone like that's it. I'm like, I have a painting lamp born in. I like it's just got a light bulb. And usually, I'm there holding it in one hand and then trying to kick it with the other and it's just a just lucky. It comes out like nice with these though. I specifically haven't put any kind of there's no filters. There's no like autocorrect.
There's nothing on the platform Point, click and then drop to zoom in. Yeah, yeah, often. That's the best way though. Tom, I find that, you know, once you start altering photos, you can just It can make it look, worse in some, in some instances. I'd rather just take the one good photo, and that's it. You know to mean. Yeah, if they even want to do X or slightly unnatural that one their proper bright and it's just a difference Monday. Yeah, yeah.
That's probably the one of the last models have paid. I think one of the latest ones. Yeah, I really like the tiny gun quiet. The tiny Bowl pistols. Yeah yeah. Yeah, Barry Road traitor. Yeah. Yeah. Obviously based on, come on, but still cool. Yeah, we do, he come out specifically a little bit too. Like his clothing is like there's a lot more white than on him than there are on the other lines. He does stand out but I suppose that's quite good. You supposed to stand out. Yeah.
Yeah. The different want to pick out the weed boy out of the out of the bunch test. Be sure to know who the internet. They're going to beat over the head with sticks, once he gets too crazy wants to leave the battlefield. Now these are nice ninjas too because I've not seen this guy
before description. Yeah kind of like a crew on a little cruise but I'm I don't have I don't think I've got a gun to go with that particular Gretchen, you know I've got maybe he's just carrying the wrong ammunition was stupid. Boy the Run heard there in the background is megaphone. To blast an ear. It little ear holes. Yeah, it's so good. I do like the fact they got a megaphone like wow, I don't think I've got this male model either. I haven't haven't seen this one
before. I don't think it's actually got a. This arm is part of the model. Yeah and it's good xanga phone with a big skull on it. Yeah. Yeah. Nice. Yeah, I think you see all their feet? Just wrapped in cloth. Yeah, I think I think I've just given a pump I like I hate painting them. They always look messy whatever.
Yeah, really shaped, like, go over with the like I've never used weather and powder, but I think for these feet, I really should get some pop some on. Yeah, you could do that, man. Yep, it's a good-looking kid. You got a very modern style and you're basing especially, you know, it's a In one sort of take on the, on the box. But really suits the this color, this sort of oxide red color. Really do does suit them the
colors of the model. It doesn't sort of interfere with the colors on the minis, success. The colors apart from says quite nice, the first base. I think I've ever painted there wasn't green. Hmm, I like every specifically ready to try and get them a bit brighter. Yeah. So it's basically what is it? It's like a I can't remember the
name of it, but it's a red. Crackle paint that, you get from green stuff world but like I'm sure the is in Martian air from Games Workshop. I'm sure, as I said, yeah. But like it's it's that with the turquoise contrast paint on top and then there's fluorescent orange into notes for some kind of reddy-orange into Us in Orange for the edge. And they're really quick to do, is, basically all wet in wet and, and then brilliant. Now, I've got a tractor Cannon here. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Looks nice again. Nice vibrant colors. I love all the yeah, the bad moon, and the yellow and the black Flames. Insignias. I like all that kind of stuff. All the markings and really nice. Yeah. Same here. So yeah, yeah, I would like the little bottle full of juice. Yeah this one here this this one was like one of the first war machine things that are painted and like and I don't like don't like it be fair. Like I think if I was to do it again unlike I would paint all
the rivets. I think is such a time-consuming job, but it makes it look so much better. I'm like, I think if I could probably leave the paint job as it is. Just paint all the rivets and it will probably make everything seem a bit brighter. But like it was the first time putting you see the Checkers on there. They're like, yeah, it like a transfer on a transfer on there. But like I think I should take
them off by think. Oh, varnish them on but like and some little bit as one of those kind of things that you just learn not to do it again. So the transfer you didn't particularly like the transfer effect. Oh no. No, I kind of like the one underneath. He's underneath the, this one's quite cool. Yeah, I like the way. Yeah, that one there. But the one, the one on top just looks stuck on, but you know, I painted mine.
I didn't really like mine either, personally, but you know, I paid all the rivets on as well. I did all the rivers in a black, but I quite like yours because it has all these separate plates on all different colors and I quite like that. So, it's all been sort of stuck together from random bits that they've sort of, you know, gathered and and looted from. So I do like that.
Aspect of your pulse of rocket. And I think it does have a lot more character and you've got like sort of written in writing on the top here as well. Oh yeah. So it does. Yeah. Yeah. These things are not so I flip to first see what it has what it what it does in the game couple of few days ago. And yeah they're really quite funny to use in 2nd edition. Okay, it's great that. It's got a wood new launch. Yeah. Yeah, it's good enough. Yeah, more Gretchen.
Yeah, these are loved painting them. They were brilliant teint. Like, I love them and they come out really well, they were. I remember paying them at the time, they come out really quickly. Like, I don't know why I took me ages to get the motivation to paint. Remember when I started really good. Yeah, in love all the sweet a lot of swigs too, which is really nice. Yeah. Yeah, take that started collecting them. Someone sent me some models.
I think again it was like a kind of like a mash of metal models on eBay. Like I couldn't even see them unlike when I unpacked them. They were stuck underneath the flap in the corner of the Box, you know. So when even wrapped up in just just stuff came out. Could have so easily from animal. Lee. Yeah, I had a streak free in that box and then when I had them, I was like, oh my God, I remember these and like everything's any was like just have a just have a look for them.
Yeah, yeah, but again these are like these little squeaks now if you if you searching specifically by Escape their like proper expensive and the tiny yeah the tiny. I really like this one that honey that the men and I can tell you really enjoy painting because he met a detail. You Into them. And you know, is hauling all the flesh tone or the flesh tones and that kind of thing on them and all the teeth and yeah, they're really, really nice man.
So yeah, I can tell you really enjoy painting this particular unit. Yeah, there is a third edition is here on toad as well. This guy, he's like the crewmen. Yeah, I like good. Like I'd always sticking next to like a machine so he's got something to fix. So you can that you can be a bit, both a Mac or a run heard. Yes. Yes. Yep, if it's a job title, doesn't he? Yeah. Yeah. If I had the time to know I would like stick little flames on his spiky hat helmet. Yeah.
Yeah. Like these guys are good. I really like the weird boy here or the warp head. Like I like how his head. I love this model man. Yeah I really want to get this going. Yeah. I like I like this fire spells. I like the skwiggs or like yeah shiny. Right boots, that's really good. Last thing, the white and red flame combination. You got here to on the shoulder pad. I think that's a really, really nice alternative just to having, you know.
So I did everything in yellow and black and just kept it really simple and put out of little bit of blue. But I like having you having all this red and the white and red as well to sort of separate the colors.
Break it up a little bit. I think like, I remember initially, like color choice, I like which bits should be what color of being like, either the greatest demotivate paying a model or conversely, the greatest motivator, you know, like him when I'm thinking about paying these are just want to paint like, I don't know, like the biggest cloth Area Yellow cause he's a bad moon and then everything else slightly
different. But that, that there is is yellow because like, you know, I didn't think that like a blue one. It would like, jar off his trousers. Like black didn't seem to fit because, like, it's like Underneath Him is all black and he's got black trim. So white just seem to be the only Choice. Really? I thought paint. And I was like, doing really know what else to do. Yeah. I think it's a good choice, man. I like that. I like how you broke it up with a little white?
And yeah, it was his hair, a bit more, in a bit, more of a focal point to because he's got this really crazy looking blue and pink hair. Let's say it like his lobotomy. I've got I've got one of these miners but I'm just wondering where their only one minor released. No no, there are like theirs. One one I haven't got with it like a copper staff. There are some with like I've got got them. There's some with like a little horns on. I think there's like maybe three
other models. Yeah, cool. I got that those down. So I've got this guy. I'm using a mad boy from my other other minder. Yeah, I never knew he's crouching down now. He's not duties. He's one like coupons foot up like skiing up the yeah, that's basically yeah. Which is what a good - you do to every weed boy is give me a good kick and keep your submission there he is. Yeah, so yeah great model I painted the mine as well. It really nice model to paint. Yeah I tried to make him have
like kind of drooling. I like snot but like it looks like I mean you paid his face looked completely psycho. And yeah, you can see like, the the purple drool. Yeah, coming out of his mouth there. Yeah, yeah. It's like I don't know whether yeah, I don't know whether it works like particular got em here. Do with a recruit. Like we won't see it on the small screen. I'm sorry man. It come out like a it looks a lot brighter in real life. Yeah.
But like on the on that picture there seems to like Fade Into The Green a lot more. Yeah, cool. Here he is. Yeah, variance between Allah and folders. Yeah, he completely deranged like no is going to refuse him to Moore's. Yeah, I just looked at him and I see like this, there's a little splodge of black on the shoulder.
The black on the yellow sleeves. Yeah, I'm just like you don't honestly can't see it. Honestly, I really can't can't see any faults with it. That I know that, I know, personally, from personal experience, like you're the person who painted it was always going to find faults with whatever they do. I know I know that but other people will never see at night. So don't worry about it. It looks perfect. Who here is the exclusive? Unreleased Brotherhood with his squeeze.
Yeah brilliant he's either unreleased. Wrong catalog, catalog Australian. Oh no. I'm going to send this picture to Kev Adams and see what he says make this. Let's see what the feedback is on from the Golden Master himself. Because he designed it. So maybe he did it and they just never released it. And you've got like, the, the only white white metal, you know, model in the existence or shop. I'm sure you can find them, you'll be around.
But yeah. I loved all these skwiggs and looked like the little green kind of alien squid in the middle. He's like, chaos familiar thing from fantasy. Yeah, I checked him really well. You know, I not noticed that I've never seen that model before. But now you say it's a castle, Amelia then that makes more sense because I didn't know it was a squid it fits in perfectly, doesn't it? Yeah. There's a couple is a couple of I'm going around. Did you put the eyeball in this
guy here? This yellow skate is a tiny and his teeth were paint, pick out. Yeah. It might be a bloody L. That is some incredible detail. Very nice. You have a big tall? Squeak. Well an iconic. My yeah. Everyone loves it. I love that guy. He looks like can Big Bird from Sesame Street. Just had a body you know, like just the head without the feathers.
But yeah, he just looks like this reminds me Big Bird from Sesame Street. I don't know why, but he's got the legs in the face for it. But yeah, great model. Yeah, I always think he'd be a good. Like, you can convert him into something else and be great. Yeah. Looking, he's my favorite model of them. All the unreleased one. Yeah, really, really impressed them that that that's it really struck me first. I thought.
Wow, I can never seen this guy before, but I'm really impressed by it. Now, we're going into your freebooter collection. Now, of course, anybody who's listening to the podcast who thinking? Well, Josh, this is great. We can't see the images go to the YouTube, watch your YouTube channel. You can see all of the images of Tom's great work. Yeah. Just this podcast is going to be
very much a visual thing. So we really wanted to Showcase tongs work, so if you're frustrated think well, we're talking about all these models, but you can't Don't go to the YouTube channel, you can see them over here. If, if this, if this is links got to work because now it's all going to a loading screen. So hopeless gonna pop up, we might just going to skip that one squeaks. If that come up at all, that's having trouble voting for exploit, some reason. In fact, all having trouble,
loading, never need to read. Well, yeah, I don't know. The connection is a little more lasagna. Okay, connections, drop down a little bit, unfortunately. So I got, we got the squeak election year in the spider, squeak, Yeah. Tok living in a cave somewhere. Yeah, these are good. Like Mulvane models.
They were quite, you not easy to paint their with just quick to paint, primarily because you didn't have to worry about, like, what colors this Bell Buckle going to be, she know, it was just like are the main body that will just be one color and then everything else could be done? Like just tagged in, they were good quick refreshing models to do. The last night. Yeah. I love like, like people.
I like people with a different style and eventually I'll probably get around trying to emulate them but I like I like it when people steal when they undercoat black and then they re under Co everything white and they just leave that black line around everything. I was like that, I've just never understood it. I just don't get it, I think.
On a large model like at like a garage kit type thing where you've got like something that's like you know two millimeters tall that would work really well for flight Kingdom Death. Yeah, those those scale Miniatures would work well with it, zenithal highlight, but for twenty eight Mill, I just don't understand why people are doing it. But then it's just, you know, it's just really up to the person. I mean really is, it is like an individual thing. So maybe just really works for
some people. They really like it. I just don't understand it. When people have the like this kind of speckled White Kind of looks like it's like a really bad under coat over the top of the blue. It just looks strange to me. I just don't understand why people do it. Yeah, yeah. I know what you mean but like what, you know, at some point I will try and paint one of these one of these models with like, a heavy black line around everything.
I think it looks looks amazing, but it just requires a different mindset and I think this down to experimentation whatever works for you mate. So you might find And like zelophehad lining really works on a particular style of miniature maybe. Yeah. Obviously this guy kind of like probably have. I think I probably got more of this guy than any of the other ones like he's just like yeah really easy. It was just done with really quite thin paint wet in wet and
then yeah. And then highlight, everything kind of Really pale around with this. With that guy, with his pink face. It was just like a wash of pink on top. Yeah, it's good. It's good. Very natural naturalistic kind of tone to the pinks and the faces and that kind of thing, which is quite nice. This is why. Apart from this guy here, I tried to paint him like a bee. I wanted to be like, like a poisonous Quake that I like, when I look at him, he just
stands out from the other ones. I didn't want any help. Cool. So many of them. Wow. At least I have think it's like 23:22 around, please somewhere, but I don't have the two big squeaks. Like, there's a big kind of, is it like us? I think it's called, like, /o Grabber. Some something like that. And then, there's another one that looks a bit like a Like a alien face hugger. I suppose. All this looks pretty cool. This is a familiar is an idiot.
Yeah, he's a familiar. Yeah, but we're now even says head shake. I really like how this turned out the, the sort of turquoise to blue or purple. Yeah, it was very nice. I like that a lot. I didn't when I was, when I was looking at him, I didn't see the face at all the face, only kept the other face only came out when I was paying him. I thought he was just a Big Blob of hair but he finales more, ya know, like that a lot actually.
It's a really cool miniature. Yeah, I remember taking ages to get around to paint him. This here. I put as a runt bot using whole epochs. Hopefully next month, I'll paint a controller for him to know. Excellent, I love that idea. Might, that's, that's brilliant. I love those model. I love that design of the gulf Smasher. It's my favorite or vehicle. Let us do terribly, mind games. Epic unfortunately, been there though. I just love the love. The design of it. This, this one here is me.
Going back to the Also rocket, and not not done all of those rivets where I'm this one. I was, like, our side. It, I'll just do those rivets. It was a pain to do, but it's it looks much better than if I hadn't heard Batman. Yeah, and sometimes Trevor the bills in the background. That's that's that's that's time to say, six o'clock here in Japan, in my neighborhood. So I apologize for that. It's gone. Yeah, it's a really easy. They were just black and then just a chain mail on top.
So yeah, they're just a chore but they makes it look a lot better. Yeah. It looks really good. Okay. Well, let's now try again to go to the free booze side. Here we go. I think, we don't worry. Okay, now we're going to each other on the Facebook group. That's what really got to know, your aux a lot through your Free booze. That's the first one I paint it like the boss I guess but like here it's probably later on. You'll see that I've changed how I paint the barbed wire on his
on his base. And their I think I just covered it in like fluorescent paint, hoping for like a rust effect. Whereas later on the fluorescent paint is a lot less and there's a bit more male there, looks a bit better. Yeah, but a cracking miniature there. I'm the he seems really popular when you look them up. There are some amazing paint jobs on him. I found his teeth quite difficult to do, but like, yeah, good. This guy was a pain to pain.
I don't like paying him but like, he's a nice model. Yeah, you can tell I didn't really enjoy paying them because like, you know, he's hand has got some spikes on there that are not different. I just colored them in blue. Yellow on his gun is like just one tone I guess, you know, so the yellow of his gun and the yellow of his coat and yellow is hand. They're all the same tone just
because it was quicker. Usually if I like, for like them on try and make them slightly different either by adding a bit more shade or you know, I'll still use the same paint but just slightly different Yeah, that thing hanging down from his, from his, cigar like was a bit odd. But this guy here, bad doc, flipping loved him him. And he's a count partner, the mech, they've like inspired these stripey, trousers. Well. Like previously, I think I just used red and white.
Whereas these ones, I put the blue band in I think I was flicking through one of the source books, probably probably a we go think, unlike in that they did the same so I just thought I'd give it a shot. Probably, I'm really, really impressed with this one too, man. Yeah, actually. I like a lot. Yeah. But they all look like, now, I see them all together. They all look like they gonna take a big game of hockey or something. Yeah. Baseball baseball uniform.
Yeah. He's a he's a cracking model. I'm a little gutted that I didn't put in his power arm is like claw. You can see the kind of just thing is that little joint there? I think I should have painted that different color, but that's, you know, that's it. Then you can always go back and do them if you want to. You know, you can well as I do. Yeah. I think I think I wanted to Prezi like that. Yeah, you'll never it'll never be finished. And yeah, exactly.
Like me was just so this guy looks cool too. Yeah. This guy here, I like his face. He's got our, you can see that is just red and white trousers. Yeah, so he's the first painted. Yeah. Yes. Looking through the 2nd Ed codex of the freebooters there, and they've all got this kind of white and red, striped pants, which I really think is really, you know, it really brings out the models so much more like the
colors as well. It really brings out so much color and everything else in the model to I think it was painted any other color, it would just it would just draw the I was into the pants, but the pants is really lift, everything else out of the miniature. So yeah. Good choice there man. And all the hazard Stripes to. I like all that as well at school very second edition.
Yeah, yeah. I seem to shy away from painting them later on. I should have put a lot more on say, like the either knobs, the mega armored knobs. I wish I'd put them on there but they are quite a daunting thing to do. I think paint all the yellow and then you're like that looks good. And then you've got to like Chuck a big black line on it, you're like yeah, it's a daunting task. But yeah if you can pull it off. Which you have and it does come up. Really nice.
I didn't like this guy thinking like the one with the pointy hat. Yeah. Pop this guy he didn't like painting. No I didn't like painting. He was a I don't know why I looked forward to painting but then when it came out to do it in like that like his eyes of odd like his top lip is odd but and when I I remember this from a kid this guy but I never really noticed those ha It was a squeak. I was like, oh yeah, there's a face in his hat. It's too. It's too much.
I know. Nice, one more nice when I came to paint it as a nice little bonus. Yeah, really. I really like this one though. I really like it again. I think it's just a white and red striped pants. And the shirt that sort of just brings it all together. Just ties it all the colors together. Yeah, sounds good. I struggled with the What's called plaster on his chin. But yeah, you can do sling on plasters on people, doesn't he these walks? Yeah, but he's good there.
Wasn't any, like, there wasn't too much detail on him, he was just nice and plain. Yeah. So he's quite good one. I didn't know whether to use plasma, plasma gun, maybe know whether to paint, like a nozzle, a black nozzle on that. So, I just left it. I was like, Mom. Always give you my love. That's why again, you can spend on our remote. If, you know, if you want to, just try it out and see what looks like, but I know what you mean.
Like, sometimes it's best left is to leave it as it is. Yeah. But you can see on these ones come in. I think like I was just like, I'll get them done. Get them done. I like, where is all of the arms are pinned in? Wow, yeah, I've got a terrible habit of dropping them while I'm paying. So I'll probably drop each model like three or four. You're about two fingers lightly. Then I can tell you. I can totally relate to that night. I can't do the same thing, don't worry?
But yeah, I didn't pin my arms. So I hopefully hopefully they'll stay on. Just think it's coffee. Nice and attached. I get the monowheel cool. Yeah, this guy's a swap, he's a swap from The same thing. Dave David, he lives just down the road from me and he saw my models on Instagram gone and contact. And we realized we lived not too far away and then swapped some golf models for this guy. Yeah.
And a couple more so it was it was really good it was nice of him to do. Yeah yeah so he swapped you just a torso as yet no no no it's not the whole thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like load more. There's a little more Gretchen. There's a another, another one with like, bionic legs? Yeah, yeah. So really good of him to do. Yes. Lovely evening, isn't it? Yeah, whoa. It's very cool. This is the, what makes fault? All right, baby. Such a nice model.
I give him a special gun where it's like, yeah, So these particular weapons are some kind of Combi hand weapon, right? Yeah. You have those and I think they have custom shoe has I say they got lots to choose from. Yeah, okay. Nice. I guess in the model I've never seen these particular custom shooter models. The actual guns really? I don't have any. Yeah, I've never seen before. It's the first time I've really seen him.
I thought I thought their first of all, but just part of the The model but they're not they're actually metal component that you must buy separately or something. That's a. Yeah, yeah and they come is like a complete gun so you have to cut the handle off to put them on. Yeah. Are they in metal? Yeah, that right. Okay, yep. It's another wonderful, like, painting all the rivets, like I am.
Like this is one where you could have gone to town on the details, like like his leg, you could have like, Loaded bags on, on the, on the separate plates, or my birthday. This one here is like if you if you wanted to Showcase piece there's so much done with it but like in the case of like it's a whole Army of God. I just paint it flat color and then just delineate the rivets and it's done a good job. Yeah, I particularly like this particular models. Very nice. Very cool.
This this I was part of the model. Yeah, there's some here is going Monica. Yeah. Yeah. To know. I think maybe this guy, I know, maybe he's not like, there's another one, isn't it? The guy with the knob riding the bike? That's got. Yes, that's right. I've got one of those in the stripper at the moment. Yeah, yeah. But like what? A massive hand. Look, how big is going to be huge when I was playing it? I thought is that like a power armor glove? But no, yes is happened.
Yeah, thanks compared to his other hand. He's been beating a few talks around the head. I think that's probably why. Handsome. Yep. Nice one. Okay. Is this? The different? Is that even one? Isn't it yet? Yeah. Oh this one here. I think I might have sent the wrong picture but like this one here a painted on some white spots on his on his cap, right? As like I painted it blue just looks like he's got like a blue You just got a blue skull. Yeah but like you said, it's his caps.
I paint some white spots on it and it's a lot better now, right? Yeah. I like I like this guy's face. It's a lot. I like the skin tone on this one. You have to look skin tone on this one. Yeah. More subdued. I think. Yeah. I think it just put a bit more yellow in the paint. Yeah. But yeah, game. You look at it and you're like, man, I'm blocked in the nozzle on the gun, like, I'm here. Yeah, truth.
Yeah, specifically. All my talks about like yelling bracelets, but I forgot to paint the yellow on the bracelet here. It will get to the Pink on the coat, all the base coat later. But yeah, now you say it now, I can think I am. I can, I know, I realize what he's done. Yeah. Got ya but game, they should have put like maybe some Hazard stripes on that middle plate in
the, in the chainsaw. But yeah, just just go, like you said, if it bothered me that much, I would have done it so you can go back and do it. I do it all the time. Yeah, I go back to the start all Right. So let's now so it's quite close to the face. We do miss that at the front actually. Yeah, this is the unreleased run hooded that we talked about in the very beginning of this slideshow. So if you do have him, then thank your lucky stars because yeah, he's a much sought-after run home now.
So Let's go. Okay. Now let's see if we can get to another screen if possible. Now this is the this is the pink undercoat, we're talking about here. Oh yeah. Oh yeah, yeah yeah cool Tom kindly sent this file of a step-by-step this 50 slides. We're going to quickly go through a bit, well get Tom to explain the process of why he's using a pink like a base coat for his for his yellow. So take it away. He made as I scroll through
them. Oh yeah. So I wish I remember this guy's name but like he posted up on one of the faces. The group's about a pink and the co and like, people like a link to a YouTube video, so I went and looked at it and try it out unlike his, it was lovely. It's life-changing way of painting yellow. Like, when you put yellow on top of it, it just comes out like richer. There's a deeper color to it. Unlike the link that he sent, he put you would do a pink
undercoat. And then you do look like a heavy dry - with like maybe white on top and then you put a yellow on top and it already highlights it for you but maybe me, I've just I've just done pink. I haven't done the extra step right so we'll see if you just did something you saying you just put yellow. I sort of pink. Here's the base and that's rather talk to you later. Yeah. But the pink there is like a luminous pink it's a fluorescent pink. Yeah and then here I think you
can see I've done it here. Yeah, of put I think is it flat? Tara's read us the darker contrast paint. I think I put that in there in the red pink there. So the red is for, is, what is wildrider, read a thing? I said no idea might. So that's I think that's the thing and then the contrast on top moot being for the skin. Yeah. I like the more models, your pain. I think the kind of more naturally me you get. So sometimes I'm really not meet
at all. And I'm just like, I'll just repaint that white and then go over it. But I can't remember why I painted it in this order. I think. This way through here, I'm leaving like the cloth white because that will be done at the end and I can just repaint it. White, and then put the stripes in the like, I'm trying to get the colors to kind of sit naturally. They don't really want to make.
So that's kind of why I've done. Like one red leg and one yellow leg and one yellow shoe and one red. I think if they were think if they were the same color it would just be not boring but like it could be more exciting. And then I switched them around because I didn't want one side to be lighter than the other. Yeah. But like to be fair or not, when I'm paying, I do think about it, but like I think about it for like a second. I'm not I think like, Oh, hopefully, fingers crossed.
See the gun there on the left? You can see, like, I can't remember if I do it. I hope I do can't remember but you can find out whether you see where the Highlight is all messy and like is a bit tired. But fingers crossed. I paint the rivets, but it doesn't tightens it up. Just leave it like that. What am I doing now? Pink tubes, for the pink is like a fluorescent pink Renee, its kind of shaded with fluorescent purple thing.
Yeah. But they're just like really watered down and just washed on it's quite quick. Only doing here, maybe the blues on the hair and then this big movie. Yeah, so I dig down. I did so many of these photos primarily because when PR, that when people post is like a kind of, you know, I mean y-you're like are drawn owl, who's like your doorstep and for the rest of the owl, and like the difference in between them is
just, it's just too much. My brain is like I put it doesn't look anything like the first. To those like done loads of them just because, you know, you can really see how to rid of snap together. You did the ribbons. So don't worry. Yeah. Yeah. Last frost 5. Okay. So we're coming to the come to the final conclusion that still taking of the taking shape. Now. Yeah, I think is a base just going on the base. All right? Yep. Yeah. That's it, beautiful.
So it is done. Nice. Like I said, Tommy might have that in the fanzine at some point with you giving a short description of it, but several photos of stages and ya know, I really appreciate that because yellows and always and Bane of people's painting and how they do it. And they always get, I always get asked questions, like, how do you do yellow?
I just say, I'll just use a white base coat to put the yellow over it. But, you know, using the pink is a new way of method of doing it. I'm going to try it myself because You know it starts to behave like, yeah, yeah. The Deep, the kind of deep of the pink, the kind of mole orangey. Yellow. Come out. But yeah, it's been really good. I like it. It's still just a richer tone. Nice. Well, that's, that's awesome. So I have to definitely check that out.
Okay. Now let's move on to your, I think semi-dwarf says, otherwise click it off. I do. It was. Here we go. Perfect timing. So, yeah. So this is a massive collection of Third Edition dwarves. Yeah, these are the, these are the models. I remember as a kid, like, when I was and the and the Orcs don't get me wrong. But like, I think when I was, Growing up. I was far more into fantasy and the science fiction. So I think when I was looking at the white dwarfs, these models
were in there. And then when I came to actually go and buy one stay then then it was these models. It was the moral order, more older figures. So, the marauder figures are the ones that are bought personally as a kid but then these imperial ones are the ones that I saw in the all of the magazines, you know? So Yeah, it was kind of like a nice, a nice Miss. It's just nice to collect them. They made me feel made me feel
really good. I don't like they were really was the first time where I was like I'm going to wake up and go and go and go and paint them first thing to know before having like breakfast or tea or anything. I was super excited to go and do them. And it was such a wonderful feeling to feel that again. Yeah, it's amazing collection named player. You've got the DraStic plastic balls in the background there until. Yeah, they were they were Dang it was brilliant. I've got like a big thing.
I like kind of the Monarch toes miniature. Yeah it was nice. Kind of like painting them. It's just like a process thing I think. Yeah I'm the flame Cannon there I like that model with the guys like covering areas. Yeah yeah the guy doing that Drake means it's like no he's going to light it isn't that he's got the unfortunate for certain job would like Eating the flank. And sadly. Yeah. Yeah. Well there's another one there. I put like that luminous Green.
Glow was a bit of fire. It's all that. Yeah, the Rangers. Yeah. That when I post those by clicking Rangers, have you on was like, I use the Bluetooth sign as a shield house. I got. He's like one of those things I'd never really seen. It was perfect. It didn't it. Did not. I did not make that correlation myself. Visually exalted. Just be as bad when it's the room for that's a rune basically dwarf Rune and it's just yeah it stands for but Solstice will be or something, I don't know but
it stands for something. But paying it the bug when the screen because, you know, their ranges, around the wild should be like brown and then blue and white for the Imperials. But I started off paying there's a load of like crusading dwarfs and they're kind of like in white with like a red trim. That's kind of how it started off paying them and then I was just like like, you know what blue and white is just so
classic and like I can't. Even though I think it was like just a small part of Wayne England's paint, scheme of think it was primarily like black and white. I think blue and white whining. This is blue and white matter. Yeah, I'm sure I can show you then like a I thought like that was a small part of it and some of it was like black and white as well. Okay. Right. Yeah, in that case, I haven't seen that one. Yeah, I think that. Yeah, that does easier many. That's a mighty.
I mean when you dwarf lovers those Slayers there on the on the left, the ones right in front and you can see you can see that if you compare them with the Slayers behind and Slayers behind wearing gray paint, and the sleighs and front painted with the white undercoat, when I the differences like is everything night and day, isn't it? Yeah, so much brighter. So I'm a little gutted that I didn't do white for everything but, you know, I'm not going to
paint them again by them. Again, Tom was gonna said, don't don't be like me in pain. Everything again don't do that by like to collect it like in the in the in the Imperial one next to it. You can see there are different models. There's Gimli it's all there. Yeah, there's a lot of bottles that are all same. They're the king. Right in front.
So I've got now, the one with the unicorn on the helmet, he's willing to be paid up but I don't have any motivation yet to go back and paint the models that are missing. I've got like a whole load of other units to add eventually G different. There's the ones with like ones with like puffing / kind of uniforms All the Imperial dwarfs. Yeah yeah so there's a whole load of them with Spears as load of language Albert's, there's a load with I can't remember this loaded like what they called
Norse the wolf's to add. Yeah, lovely man. Yeah. That's a proper Third Edition Army. Yeah yeah, yeah. So I'm so I'm so pleased with them unlike it's just a case of going you know step by step. Don't look at the bigger picture. Yeah. It was good. But once again like most of this I would never have painted if it wasn't for the old world Army challenge. Yeah, it was yeah, really good. I like the Wizards at the front. Yeah, there's quite a long time. Yeah. They took a long time to find.
Yeah. Yeah. By the way is it's at the front of my my favorite out of all of these. I think the Wizards then the really old Slayers, the column dicks and yeah. I didn't realize as well like the one of the cannons in there. Like the original one is or is still produced, I think by Foundry, but you have to find it in like a historical section because I remember seeing it, I remember seeing it in a white dwarf going like look at that Cannon I like and could never
find it anywhere. They still still in production which is why I couldn't find me, right? Yeah that's a good point because sonnet She pointed at in the live stream yesterday that? Yeah, The Foundry do carry a lot of old, original Citadel moment. Miniatures, that Brian. Ansel got the molds for and bought them and or has been, it's been in storage for so long. He's just now, starting producing a lot of them on the sort of the Round Table bases. So yeah, you can get some old
classics in there as well. Yeah, it's pretty evident some. Yeah, but have you got enough to office? You think Tom? Do you have enough? Like I do I shouldn't really I shouldn't buy any more. I've got like I've got all the gaps filled but I should paint more hundred percent like I should paint the rest. I've got but I'm at an annoying stage where I've got like maybe It's like a little bit of North. I've got a little bit of the newer kind of Mirada klansmen unit, which it which is slightly
chunky. They don't quite fit with. The Imperial Dwarfs has slightly smaller and so with just a stylistic choice to make unlike a realistic Choice as to whether I should spend so much time painting these or try and Another section of my hobby. So, like I'm looking forward to trying to do neck, reminder stuff. I'd like to paint couple of gangs, like the old gangs, although, to be fair, I think the new Games Workshop stuff, the sculpts were the Necromancer of been outstanding.
I've been really good. I like them a lot - excellent. Well, I'm glad that you're you're back on the Hobby Lobby path, and you'll, you're kicking goals. Like that's the main thing. I like you're actually getting stuff done. On your painting stuff up, you know you with the challenges and I think most people can in the same boat who are part of a challenge. Yeah we are so motivated to reach these targets that you know is propelling US forward and every month and we're just
getting stuff done. And that's the best thing about it, isn't it? We can actually see a results. We're proud to see minutes on the tape even though they might not be the best paying jobs we've ever done. It doesn't really matter. I'm not so fast about that anymore. Now at my age I'm like sort of like, Yep, they're cool. They're painted, I can play with them. I can get on the table and play
with. You know, and that's the only thing in it. But, yeah, your stuff, your stuff is a really, a really inspirational collection of space Orcs, mate. I must say, Yeah. It's been good. Like do you like that? I said, yes. Yes, you did. Yeah, that's brilliant yeah. Nice mustn't harm. I cast one is a mama cosma. No, no. That's a fan sculpt. Yes yeah, brilliant like a I think might have been taken off the Emma cast one but like yeah,
it's certainly not. I have a resin that's made out of its like a crazy kind of plastic. Yeah it's been good it's been a good night. Yeah. Nice. Well I think the next the next painting goal would be to like try and go a lot darker and more muddy. I think if I'm going to do neck, remember Steff. I just like, you know, Was it like Blade Runner like, like the background to Blade Runner? It's just amazing with all of the shanties District district 9 like that, as a Sci-Fi call, The
Shanty stuff in there. I just like all of the rubbish, and the litter across the claustrophobia, just being nice to like, kind of emulate that darker style in like, in in a model. But I think it like, would probably call for, like a different mindset. Just quick nasty. Lots of dry brushing. Lots of glazing. Yeah, baby. It would be nice to do something completely different.
Yeah. But if you looking for the Bladerunner experience, come to or soccer in Japan, as you know, I'm in Japan. And it was the director who was a director for that film again, it's a really famous director Ridley, Scott. He traveled to Japan and He went to Osaka and that's where his inspiration came for Blade Runner. And I went there myself and man The Sounds, the sights and everything it really reminded me. A lot of a lot of the scenes in Blade, Runner gave me that atmosphere.
So yeah, if you like that kind of thing and also has definitely the place to go to me after that. Postcode bit. Of course, it's like the worst place to go in Japan right now but yeah, pose covid is the place to go to get your cyberpunk feel, but Tom has been really, really great to talk to you. I'm really happy that you could share this time with us to talk about your collection of models and my mom's.
It's been a it's like it's been a pleasure and also one of the reasons why like I've posted my stuff online but, you know, I think not being much of a gamer is very small chance of people seeing my models. And like, I just enjoy looking at other peoples models and it's being Wonderful to know that people like looking at the stuff that I ping. Yeah, yeah, it's been really good.
Especially for like, during these times and people that lockdown at, like in the UK and Europe or whatever, it's good to have this kind of hobby, motivation for people to see people actively, you know, working in the community doing great stuff kicking goals. I'll help you goals can get in getting stuff painted and it's motivating them and they feel good about it, too. So it goes around in this wonderful cycle of ours, isn't it?
So yeah. The Tom I won't take up any more of your time in the morning, mate. So you go and enjoy your day and relax with the cats and it go get some painting done, okay? Tom. Thanks very much mate. Yeah. Thank you all the best. Bye bye. It's like you too, mate. Okay, that's it.
