Pretty good John, Johnny Watson today I think it's Tony Watson talking about you and what you look like. Like and I said, I don't know. I've never met kind of fixing person. He could be a living carnufex living in Sydney, Australia. We have no idea. We don't know the identity of kind of effects. Kind of things. We imagine imagine like a Sasquatch in a wife-beater. Well, there's quite an evocative image. Okay, well yeah, leave it.
Leave it with us. Maybe we'll get something if you if you ever watch the Youtube card. In called the big ledge show. I look like one of the Sasquatches in that, but like, always wearing a singlet like our Onslow from Keeping Up Appearances. So very large. Yeah, if I wish I had Forsyth arms, that would be great and it's a bigger this deal with people more content like sailor tattoos. Like the the big anchor on. I'd I have a small one.
And the tattooist who did it, he complained that he wasn't getting to use the whole like, you know, canvas. He was quite quite angry that I just wanted a tiny little thing I do. Yeah, I know, I didn't. But you know where the Stanley love, the blue Stanley, singlet and got totally. Yeah, the grown here, like sprouting out from underneath the singlet from, from underneath, your my beards out of control. I can tell you that much any of the neckbeard? What you need? I try not to.
But yeah, go get into the spirit again. Yeah, and the hair growing in the back, lay on your back. Yeah. Totally. As you get older, you get more hair in places where you've never sort of discovered it before. And yeah, it's a bit of a, no goofy case than it is. Yeah, it's really become an Argus basically control indeed. Indeed. All right, my good, sir. What's been happening this week? I guess.
One thing I neglected to really go over last time was how much really, really good train people have been making. So for example, Magnus Stillman, he's been making these really really cool hedgerows and the guys are using or kinds of like different flocks and they're more in line with what we used to see in really early white dwarfs. And that sort of old Hammer flock. They're not as grainy and and sawdust see as a sort of light later, 90s flocks, which I'm going to have to look into what
they're using. These are really like it. It's really nice green. Like anywhere from Olive to emerald, green cards, perfect. And Magnus has been making like a castle out of some kind of like different Foams and things and it looks great. So far. I'm really impressed. The other guys have been working on a multitude of things like covering fire or Ted. He's been making those awesome second edition spiky.
Spiky, Cactus, which the spike is, I think we're from Rogue Trader and they did horrible things if you played with them in Rogue Trader that literally fire like spikes about it. You and I have a feeling that they might even like sort of zombie fired you or something like that. I'd have to go back and read the rules to submit. Hey, Easy. That sucks. Someone's probably listening to this and going. No, you idiot. They did this and which is fair
enough. But they for me that a Spiker Cactus is one of those penultimate second addition to rain things and you see them over everyone's videos and everyone's blood I have been slack. I haven't made any yet. So when I see everybody else making them, it's kind of like it's inspiring because everyone has a different style to do it but they all look like they're cracking. They look great.
Joseph Justice actually showed off his gaming room and here's this really cool gaming table with like modular pieces for so you can move it. So this roads and rivers and stuff like that is, it'll display cabinets and shelves and it looks perfect. What can I say better than anything? I've got at the moment, my room civil looks like a backorder been for like Games Workshop for
the moment. So to be very careful, I've been to lots of discussions about how to Like cod model kids out of the magazines and boxes at like GW sell or put in white dwarf, Zeb had like a really cool picture where he's cut out all these different parts for old fantasy buildings out of different materials like Plastics and Foams and stuff like that. Like all from craft stores and
yeah it's really cool. Some of the guys are really talented at putting this sort of stuff together obviously you mentioned And mast cells building that he'd been working on for ages when you guys went over his favorite, white dwarf. That was really cool to see, you know, there's what have a fantasy house kits. Were. Excellent. Yeah, isn't it? Yeah, Revelation to me because I've never seen these before, but they were available somewhere.
Some point, the 90s, I'm thinking it was like available everywhere, not just the UK, but the states or whatever. But you, you can buy it like a preformed kit and it came with I assumed like high-densit high-density cardboard and they've just got like some kind of cutter to stencil out the the shapes and overlays of the exterior, parts of the building interior parts and you just glue it all together. So that's a really ingenious way of doing it.
I've never seen them before. So I was really interested coming across this post at. Yes, net put up on the terrain section here on the trend Channel. Pretty cool. Yeah, I'm impressed. I'm, I'm it's funny because I go on and on and I'm pretty positive about stuff but I'm this continuously sort of delighted at the stuff. I sound Discord to some really trust everyone. Everyone contributes some, really cool stuff. That's a great to see, you know.
Like suno posted up. It's a like a model tree cutter. I think it's, I don't know how to pronounce about hecky, a tri Ki and I know muscle mentioned, they're pretty expensive, but I've never actually seen one before, but with sort of a large tree and the leaves kind of look like they're made out of a light
skin or something. But for me, the major thing about it was you could put models around the base of a tree when I was a kid and I bought hobby trees, you couldn't put any models around the base of them. The, the trunk of it had like sort of like a bit of material around it to look like wood. And then now we're like a coiled metal wire and then they went into like a LED or pewter base, and yeah, there was no room for anything to fit under those.
So nasty, those tacky trees that are pretty big and large, a lot of people have been making sort of Rocky out outcrops covering fire. Ted, again, making ones that look really natural, they look like actual rock. He's made all sorts of like Rocky Terrain, And he had a picture with some night Lords in amongst it and it looks
fantastic. Really cool to see and especially when he made like a troll sort of cave or den and he's got like a little fantasy background and like, he's trials in front of it and a shaman, and some Huts that he made in the background. They're so cool. Reminds me of the fifth edition Idol of Gore campaign, where there's AB, is one scenario. We had all these Hawk.
Hearts and you had its in troll country basically and yet the holy patrols that would come out of these Rocky outcrops around the Empire. The be like and I think historically they have like something like ridiculous. Like some like 30 arches or something and I can't exactly the rules. I did play it once or Wellington years ago, it was a really fun adventure.
But yeah, I know it included Stone trolls because all the stones study guide our crops and you had like little hot It's and that kind of thing and the empire were basically trying to burn down and destroy your hearts. And if they destroyed all the hearts old win, the scenario as a really good one. That's so cool. Did you? I don't know if you would have seen it but at the moment but Clem's been working on one of those Warhammer townscape the water mill and then that's a big
building. I haven't seen any updates yet but from what I saw it looked pretty cool. That'll make an excellent board piece once it's complete. I have seen that. Yes yes yes. Oh he's and I think the other guys I think he actually has the originals. That's so cool townscape sets. Yeah. So that's awesome, isn't it?
Wow. Yeah, really there's some fantastic stuff in the train and like you've mentioned before it's a big it's a big part of the Hobby and some people find it pretty relaxing to Make It Rain. Yeah, it's when you pull it off and You satisfied with it? Yeah that keeps us actually having a go at those as well and he's yes and Rocky outcrops as well. So look it looks like Rocky. Outcrops are just like the trend at the moment if I was doing a rocky outcrop at the moment,
Hell yeah. And what gets me is like they look so natural. And the other thing that looks really good to me that I never pulled off as a kid because I never got one of those heated wire cutter things. I know even heads actual sold one of those so I remember that. But yeah, these days like back in the day I used to make train out of polystyrene and it sucked. I never had access to that Refrigeration from that really
hard siren stuff. And you see guys in the terrain section, on our Discord making sort of landscaped Rock Cliffs and things like that. With those heated Cutters and they make such a like organic shapes. And then when they painted or airbrush it or whatever they do, it looks really really good. Like I'd pay money for that sort of stuff lately. I bought terrain, which was its
those like Terrain in a box. So I don't know if that's the brand or whatever and this stuff looks really good, but it's not in the box and a battlefield. Yeah. Yeah. That's the one. Yeah. And I don't even know if they make half their stuff anymore. I managed to get a few boxes of it. It's also sold out in Australia and the stuff is great. And you can Pump It Down onto about a Fields, got like a film bottom under under it, but you're paying so much money for a couple of rocks.
Yeah, it was like, you know, expanded all I do, It's brilliant because you can plunk it down straight away. But if you're smart, you can get some hard starring off eBay or an art store and go for your life and it'll keep you busy
too. And when you get into trouble funny that you mentioned, the wire cutter because I made of mine, looks, I asked if I could borrow his and I did it for some terrain at some point, but I realized that once I use that, that sort of insulation foam that really high density stuff, I couldn't use that wire cutter. Anyway so I had to use everything with a lot of other knife and look like just cutting carving and out that without things.
So damn to use much of it mate. Do you want to be honest but for the softer stuff for the softer more or less dense polystyrene. Yeah. For those kind of sheets. It's beautiful to work with one of those, those wire cutters because it cuts, it gives that beautiful nice clean-cut finish that you just can't attain with with a knife. You can do it with a with a, with some sandpaper and just Sand it down to, to make it look really smooth.
But that's a good point. Yeah, that did actually make one DNA against Workshop actually had their own Yeah. Yeah. I never bought one but I was very tempted to and actually, yeah, I'm never buying the yes. We're doing bit of a Terrain, topic are actually remember buying the Games Workshop heels. They actually had those plastic like a plastic preformed Hill and it was flopped with that sort of furry kind of 40. And I bought the mat and
everything like that. I actually bought it for confrontation back in the day, when I was playing that and made myself a little, you know, I think back at 3 by 4 board or something like that with it, but they'll really, it's the price, you pay for a convenience, like the battle Battlefield in the Box, it's that price, you pay for convenience at, you know, no mess, no materials. All that time, you saved. And you've got all that in a box. It's all painted. Yeah, like same.
I don't know if they actually produce that stuff anymore and I was just watching that guys, Hammer, the German guys playing second edition, and they're using the other that stuff as well. So, maybe they sold a bucket load of it. I think when they weren't, Than a day. Yeah, I mean that's a good segue
because I've been watching. Hey behave so like different YouTubers Battlefield. Like 40K battle reports and the dice Hammer guys, they're sort of come to a close with the campaign, the Elder versus Z 2 are the last episode. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't watched it, and then after that match, their going to follow up and do a few like sort of Favorites battles, things like blood angels versus hearing
aids and things like that. And they've got they had a bit of a disaster with their battle bunker at flooded apparently. So they had a few weeks off but they've come back and I hope it wasn't too much of a disaster for them but yeah they use a big array of terrain, everything from handmade stuff that looks like it's been made out of, you know, like a cardboard packing insert and they're painted etcetera to some of the more
modern. Modern maybe age of Sigma or kill team, 40K stuff like chaos trees and the other ruins and just goes to show like how inventive some people are on. Filling a table with terrain and then I'm watching bringing battle wargaming. And as usual, they use like a really nice. Sort of one of those roll up
battle mats. Yeah I remember the stuff they're made out of its like mouse pad material and then they use like all this really cool painted terrain and they got painted Miniatures and everyone's got their own style and and trying to work out their own style. And it's been really fun to watch so many people.
Get back into older games. Even I know, just sort of people are getting playing a few Games are things like Third Edition Warhammer. I saw I saw a pretty, pretty cool game of awesome shots that claim put up Of Orcs and goblins. First, I think maybe Empire, I'm a bit of a walk and my new buddy, jeez, man, like really cool models. That's awesome.
This is awesome stuff to see and then a lot of people have been getting into casual games and Milton Bradley stuff like Hero's Quest. It's Battle. Masters. Things are like that between mates or family and it's really cool to see that. I do miss her request now Marcel. Come on. Give us he requests thing back on because I missed the last couple I think unfortunately. So I really don't want to go back and jump into. He request again and and play it again.
But just a quick shout out to in also in the terrain because I was just scrolling up and I saw this really wonderful looking and maybe you've already mentioned it, kind of affects sorry if you have made but there's a farmhouse here by Alex and it's absolutely awesome really impressed. Now I I presume that he's actually We made it or he it may be something that he's bought, but looks by the tiles. Also, he's actually made it the tile that like the roof tiles.
That is so Alice. Have you made that? That Farmhouse might that's brilliant really well done. And I just noticed his profile pic because it looked like the design of this figure that he has on our look very familiar and it's a kilt Barbarian. So nice, not to the confrontation line. Might they made some beautiful barbarians back then. So yeah, Alex really good job, mate. And hope to see more of that
terrain. And if you've seen our battle reports, you've probably seen Joe guardsman's bridge that we that he is made from like you know photocopying out the colored templates of the cardstock and then gluing that too painfully painstakingly. I should say to like foam core and putting it together. We've used it a couple times. It's a really really nice Bridge so that's another nice
alternative. Ativan and finding the old scans from the fifth edition campaign packs and then making your own to render that to give that sort of nostalgic effect obviously. And to, you know, build some really nice much more sturdy your terrain than they were just in there cardboard form because the cardboard stuff is very flimsy. But with the some cardstock behind it, it makes it really durable to rain. Sorry about what it really does.
All right, that's right. Yeah, I mean the only thing I'll mention is that I've said this before many. So did that video a while ago? Which all of this stuff to pack up now where he's sort of rescued, the old seconded box set terrain and fluff them up a bit like by gluing them onto
cardstock and stuff like that. And I saw on one of the Facebook groups, I think it was the second edition 40K one, I could be wrong but one of the guys made Made sort of PDF cover printouts for of all of that ruins. So that people could just sort of print them out, cut them up and then, you know, try and try and make them that way. So yeah, it's a good way to sort of revitalize old cardstock.
Terrain, some people go so far as buying mint and Putt like unpunched out ruins and putting them in a photo. Painting. Yeah. Like putting him in a frame basically with the glass cover on them and hanging them on the wall, which is pretty funny. That's all right. Yeah, some people are obsessed with like empty boxes, right? But it was going to say, you know, I'm sort of, I'm sort of nailing them to them to my wall as some kind of, you know, gallery of you know here.
Yeah, kind of, you know, Nostalgia B boy, avoid like framing like cardstock in a picture frame. That's really going to the next level. It really is, that's great. As usual. There's been some fantastic painted miniatures by people like whiskey and wizards and, you know, even lo que. No, he put up a picture of like it's I think it's like hobgoblins and, and Chaos towards.
And he's got a really cool fantasy background or painting and then some terrain and it's All these hobgoblins on walls and Chaos wolves, and a big Cannon and things like that. Must sound like I'm obsessed with chaos tools, but I really like seeing them painted up and on the table, even though I don't play. Why am I think they're just one
of those unique armies. I'm sure you saw the picture of Joe Guardsmen some dark else with the big purple, evil dragon, and some cold one Riders, Parties and conveyor that photos with me, or pull play that big game, but that's a game that actually, let's see where he's perfectly, what would submit? We just talked about before, and there is a video coming. Probably. I'll probably release it next weekend. That's the big four way battle, it's like an 8K game.
Basically, if one of the fantasy, we use the Flawless skulls Homebrew rules again, as well for 5th edition, which we seem to like, and people might be asking Josh. Why don't you just playing fifth straight? Fourth edition. And the, the I think the idea behind the flowers skulls and what, you know, one or naissance brings is a bit of a compromise to people who have never never played fifth edition. But are very familiar with Sixth and up to 8th Edition will hammer.
And it sort of brings that nice kind of compromise and balance between their familiarity between certain units and certain costings of of units and certain abilities at units could do in later editions. But they can't do in 5th edition. So With the guy at the guys I'm gaming with in there about ten years younger than me, they're never played fifth edition before. So it was a nice way of getting them into fifth edition playing the magic system, the cards that I love to play with with magic
and everything. So it's got all those familiar cues and Hallmarks to the older editions. But it's got a sort of a fresh take on, on the rules and that kind of thing, but that that'll be dropping next next weekend. But the thing is on the kind of fact, before we started recording was that You know, I dropped a few f-bombs during the video and probably at the end, I streamed up a whole, you know, whole string of f-bombs. There's at the end in it sort of
kind of this. The dealer dilemma of, you know, whether people were offended by swearing but I wasn't doing it in a sort of an angry way. I was like, just joking around having fun and the other guys are sort of pissing themselves
laughing and that kind of thing. But yeah, I mean if you haven't, if you have an issue with language, like foul language on the videos, please We know I've had haven't had one person complained about it. So, if B, if that's an issue that's detracting you, or just it spoiling your enjoyment of the videos, please let me know. Because if that's an issue for, for a majority of people, then I will, we will clean up our act.
But, you know, I do with the guys, just with bit of friendly banter, and we have web a good time, having fun. There's nothing that we never curse in sort of, in, in Anger, kind of thing, you know what I mean? Like, that's a ouf. And another or nothing like that ever, it's just usually mean the dice. That's the big problem I have with dice.
It's like dice never work. It's always a dice, it's always a diocese problem, but yeah, but hopefully you guys who want to enjoy that and as we really enjoy playing that game with a great day. So yeah, look out for that one. Yeah. And you post it up some cracker photos, like High Elves and Wellington's, Dark Elves, and Justins wood elves and stuff. Like Really beautiful piece, man. Really nice.
Beautiful model sick. You know, three great friends that I get to game with playing these older editions but with a slight, in a modern tweet to them. So, you know, I mean I'm you know, I'm in heaven. Really mean, this is all saying to Johnny, what's I was talking to Johnny Watson today, to shout out to him and his channel Journal, Watson gaining. So if you need to get coming up soon but Yeah, I'm not playing more games now than I ever did back in the 90s. You know what I mean?
I'm having more fun now than it ever did back in those days. So yeah, so good, great, right, mate, and good. So we just need to get you and me on the table playing 40K second edition at some point. My talks against your tyranny, heads. Yeah, I might have to now that Japan's reopening. Yeah, just like get some sort of special suitcase for some models and Chuck em in and come visit. You look like that's the thing. Photos and do it like a probably won't even fit through the door frame.
Yeah. Do you one of those like old sort of Bad Games? Workshop? Diagrams or like the body on a slab kind of thing? Like with strange things like those kind of videos will do one of those, when you're sleeping and or one of those, you know, Roald Dahl he had the book, The twits. And he's got the picture of mr. Tweets beard, and all the things in the beard like bits of Sardine and stuff. Yeah you can swear as much as you like and I'll do two at the dice. Oh, well yeah.
Who have to get a bleep bleep machine or some and About the future of The Chronic and podcast were sort of going in two different directions here because I want to get the community more involved and I'm going to get more segments that the community actually making and sending to me.
So kindly my cell and GJ it's a Hootie on in the in the Netherlands of sat down and talked about the crown of command sorry the call of the crown painting challenge to so Marcel interviewed him about that which is great and I hope you enjoy this and do that. I'm going to talk to Gasps about the bring out your lead. 2022 about what happened there on that day. So thanks Garth for sitting down with me, mate for about 30 minutes to talk about that.
And then pour my good mate. Paul is going to talk about the differences between 5th edition and six editions. So 46 addition players wanting to jump back in time to play 5th edition while the notable differences. Now, you'll notice that Paul make a reference to 2021 Paul Does know what that it is 2022, but he actually recorded it on December 31st and 2021. So just in case people are wondering about that, that's why.
So but yeah, before to having more contributions from the community, even yourself kind of X, you're going to do a sit-down with, what's the guy's name again? Shaggy, Dog, Brandy, dog. Oh, granny died. Yeah. And and, and you might say playing second edition, that'll be awesome. So yeah. Look forward to the more of those. I think Chris is going to do some more stuff. As well with one of the quest
and that kind of thing. So, yeah, looking forward to doing more of more collaborations with people in the community that had beat a bring or different content and that kind of thing. As we go forward, I'm relieving and it's exciting for me because it's sort of stuff that I'm not involved with directly. So I get excited about listening to people's stuff. They're making. So that's all Or nobody will? I think we'll wrap it up there. Anything you want to say in closing remarks at all?
Mom. Yeah, looking forward to doctor walking, some Cowabunga challenge which is excuse me, which is sort of coming together at the moment. Very exciting stuff. And yeah, look between that and the call of the crown challenge. This just so much good efforts being uploaded to the Discord. Love to see it, especially chaos. Dwarf armies like covering fire. ER, Ted has done so yeah, keep it up. Yeah, I was really excited about doing the cover on the challenge this year but I was really awesome.
Yeah, I'm going to do it la-la-la, but then I realized that I've already committed to the call of the crown and I put put forward like a big art Empire Army. I was going to paint up and then realized, well that's not achieving the goals that are really want to do scenario wise. Well like why am I? So I've sort of done a bit of a back flip on that. And I posted a new pic yesterday. Put all the ministers together.
So you'll be comprising lots of night, goblins goblins and High Elves, and Orcs to finish up to two, major scenarios that I want to do to bring to the channel at some point and do some live streams. And that kind of thing with guys playing with guys remotely. So yeah, I'll have to weigh be a mix. You can Yeah. Maybe next you can be your sort of like for Ray and some more second edition stuff. Yeah, I think so.
And I think it's building up like, you know, I'm sort of look at Mel 40K models and I know I need more additions to make well to make it more exciting for like, you know, one playing and be playing the games with Paul, you know, I need to introduce new units and that kind of thing. It's just a, it's just a matter of time. And it's just a matter of you know, motivation also is a big thing. As well. So we hope they're really out to yeah. Hope to bring more second edition content.
Hopefully next year. So we'll see how we go. I think this this this next few months are going to be next six months. I'm going to swipe just concentrate on getting my armies finish with for our fourth edition and fifth edition stuff. So we'll look forward to doing that. Giants looking for land, be good because that's the Gap. That is the thing. I love the most is one a fantasy.
I love Rank and flank stuff. Oh yeah, I love my He has second edition, you know, in terms of gameplay and all that kind of thing, and we'll play more of that as we got spacewalks to come as well. So it will have its day. It just won't be, won't be this year. Unfortunately, that's all right. We all know how much you love Rank and file of the rank and file. It's just been really great pleasure to sit down and talk to you again. So, Thanksgiving me and we'll
catch you again very soon. Shortly as well. Surely in a couple weeks. Time to give us another update, but making the meantime, get cracking on your painting products. Max, I haven't seen any pics of them from you for ages. Now, on, you know, Jesus is looking really bad, so please start getting that stuff. Yep. Can you Bob all these Cults? I want to see her. Probably little tiny little dudes. What are the little dudes called again little? The tiny little guys, like, the
little familiars and stuff. I love those things. Yeah, honestly, the genestealer The cult idea. I love that. I love that more than the actual just regular jeans. Still a high of time, you know. Yeah. Yeah. I'm nervous. And yeah, I love all the hybrid stuff and all that kind of thing. Just ask my cell is good like fist variance. He is strong, he can, I'm sure we can send it. Few of those to see if it's a no. I want to remodel the pair them up. Yeah. We'll see what happens next
year. Maybe in two years time. Five. Yeah, yeah, we'll see what happens if yeah. He'll get around to it, he will. He will. We'll keep prodding him some more. All right, buddy. All right guys, keep up the good way. Yeah, absolutely. Yes, I love seeing what you're doing out there and yeah, will will certainly bring you into focus and under in, in highlight next time we talk. So, all right, buddy. Let's enjoy the show. Thanks very much. See you later?
Might look from what the photos the photos of, you know, being fed back through us through Facebook and whatever it looks like this year, the bring out your leg was quite a successful event. I think so. Yeah, it was. It was probably a little smaller than I expected. I think we probably got about 140 aish unni kids and I guess I'll probably expect about a hundred covid-19 base, you know, based on healthy numbers be covid, right? But I mean, hundred bodies.
Great. And that that's, that's still phenomenal, you know, doing when we started there were like 30 of us. Yeah, hell of a thing. And I mean, I don't think it's that people didn't want to come. I think it was, you know, it's across the looming crisis in the UK, which, you know, really pushed it over the edge with people at school costs or accommodation. And then, of course, you know, breakfast is still the gift that
keeps on giving, right? So loads of people that would have come and picked just don't want to because of the pain of going through border control and abs are high. So yeah, I mean, they're probably not good for you. Yeah, I know we've definitely even certainly worked really hard to make. Was really hard. Yeah. People to come and place them down or wanted's yeah but yeah I mean outside of that it does vary. Yeah. Nothing 140 is so super number. That's right by this glute.
Yeah because I had a lot of guys from out like from a Discord word who had attended and they had only positive things to say about the entire day and they had a great time with meeting up with other people. And of course, beating the celebrities like Gervais Johnson. He turned. Yeah, it was pretty amazing that we had love. It's allowed to come now. I guess, you know, they probably this would be in a lot of morbid curiosity. Come from employees and productization, but they never has come.
So, yeah, Jim, it's really a suspect I'm afraid. Yeah, Willie like wouldn't brilliant to end like he was like, overlooking a scenario that he actually designed for the undead book and white dwarf, which is the Revenge of the Doom Lord that I think Dave was putting together. Those very bad guys. Yeah, he kills does not go
together. So I mean that they're training the race in the scenarios but yet that was that there were pretty giddy about it. It was nice to speak to him is well because, you know, he wasn't, he was saying they were expecting but you know, he he really enjoyed the fourth edition of the rich special edition pin because he wasn't really that Designer, right? You never played it. I'm so sorry. How does it work? How do I make it better? How do I sell it?
That kind of stuff. He played it from a respectable, it's a game that shouldn't fun. So it was quite, you know, it felt to me than, you know, If he leaning into, you know, some some some happy memories there, there's a walked around. And there was there was a lot of middle right there really was this this year. Same as any other. That's great, man. And can you go through some of the tables and what people playing on the day? I mean this I guess there are some patterns coming out now,
right? So you'll see you Friday. Friday always has the elusive brothers or one's a little older than the other one seems to be visually, but the ax Brothers, I think they see as the ax people. They always run run like this big kind of as textile game on the 6:12 and Fridays. When that that's become a fairly stable thing and this is enormous as English. Beautiful. A series of these guys bring Is unbelievable and you'll see in the pictures, all of them more time tools and Saturday Sunday.
It's, they're the same people. Like, so they had a kind of crystalline, I think, you know, Carl was this beautiful scenery based on Bristol? In arrangements to get cells, reach on to the 6th over 6, we actually never finished that the deal, so it will do a book for him. So, when I got there, he already had a job like this time old setup video within an hour, he was completely set out like, you know, with the kind of person. Well, sadly, you're not supposed
to be here. We've got kind of messed up another game, but we managed to house them. So you would have seen what should have been. You know, obviously there was a beautiful help you stable, they would have been You know, a scenario that the kind of has got one scenario that wolves well-being play. It was certainly question on the table but they were, everyone
was okay. We all made on without you but I suppose those are kind of the few things big games in the tent on the Friday, the rest of Friday, I guess it's just people setting up, smaller ones in games ending at the stood up to me, especially the know, 60 days that the super amazing day right there. That's when you see the and I think Obviously house reach moved, but it was there, you know, so nicely, but house, we should look completely different
outside. You know, he had to change the to you to put into a different size table. Yeah. So it was, it was quite different and then probably the one that I think really, really saw the show was obviously the Giles Giles reader done the, you noticed, our future and our race. Race course. Oh yeah, you know which is, you know, they brought it last year in the winter, right?
But they are then replay. I tested it was really slow as beautiful cause and they barely made it like around a quarter of it this year that fix them. If the games that was beautiful cars. I don't. If you saw him, you must have seen the pictures. This thing. I can't believe people would know I did see it here. Yep. All this. Yeah, it's unbelievable. Right? Because it's just such a still aboard and I mean, it, we knew it was coming.
So we put it in the main tent because it was just so, so nice to have a day like that people can see, obviously do log on the survey that Yeah, that was trouble. 11 people. I can remember. This is almost as bad when I was there. Remember what the third one wasn't able? Oh, it was the realm of chaos. Aidan strong have some time. So he did like this, Ronald chaos, you know, sort of suppose a silly decision Realms of KS
kind of thing. Was that the castles and you would you have playing the gods of chaos and your little teams with who developed the not do again another spectacular looking for the day and then IMA sides. I mean they saw a lot of 42nd and 40K. Yep. It's all just, you know, an assortment of us was going to kind of broaden dungeon course are things. One of the things there are some recognizing, the come regularly cannot remember the name.
So I put these style right mishmash was something else, but the point is, that table is really beautiful, right? Needs to be printed things. You know, there's kind of demon head coming out. Flowing and but I'm not talkin like you know this is this is an enormous thing like 8 inches tall topic piece of scenery right? You know and it was it was fun to watch them. As is our kind of place in this game at that made.
I forget this system--it's maybe the same thing is running as a shadow neither but the point is very usual things, super good table. I don't think from the few pictures I did. See, I don't think they got as much love as I would have. Thought they should have because I thought that it was pretty awesome. It's not It's fun to Earth, it's equal 6. Whatever, and then someday, what's up my mind on Sunday?
I think Sunday there. There was a actually something which stood out to me because, because they kind of one boil, right? They were the last ones standing deep in the thick of it. Of course, but some which, you know, I guess, see, a huge amount, but it's nice to see you like this, kind of in the same Rose tinted window. Again, that's a little child enjoy these people planning it over to pretty old-school Adventure. So, yeah, and then some Sunday was available to place.
He's not my first actual game. I'll proper rotary the ever. Wow, there are cool. Ya know which is, which is a whole lot more fun. Strictly. I really I wasn't sure what to going with. I didn't know the rules. We do you think they say drugs that I should know this stuff? Wow they really had loads of really interesting all that just make the game. Well, I really was great and the other problem is now because you've asked me what are the things I'm thinking the ones I
don't remember that. All these people have been worried because I don't really difficult so far, it's not the nicest right now on the spot. I don't remember the table, but, yeah, I mean, look, that the big game quality was was just really great quality. You know, it was nice to see people really put a lot of effort into every game that they bought, which was, which was amazing, arguably want my little rotate. Again, was probably the
cheapest. Yeah. So some really nice terrain, especially the second edition boards that had some small buildings and walk hearts and earlier looks like someone actually had free painted a like an evil Sons emblem on one of the sides of the buildings and that kind of thing. So they look they look really
stunning. So, yeah, I've always really impressed by what was really curious about, you know, seeing the boards and what people are bringing along to the show on the day and what they're playing and that kind of thing. So it's always quite interesting. You know, observing from photos and that kind of thing.
Of course, I'd love to be there in person, but just seeing the photos is just nice enough to see people enjoying all these old games, and bringing down their old collections of models, and terrain, and that kind of thing. Yeah, it was nice to see, you know, it's inspirational and it's nice to see people develop if you like over the years, aren't you see Pierre armies developing to see people's you know one of the guys He's he run the think the unit painting
contest right? He's an amazing painter. Right? But he paints so slowly moving rag for years and not being able to table an army because he does have one because he has painted them because he paints them like what a year but he finally Adam, you know, he's buying tabled, an army, you know, you can't believe there's an actual Army that he was playing, just subscribe to see the development of tiny balls and see ya and coming out.
Practice to see some of them and that that gets you that feels real and there's a painting competition I notice is a painting competition every single bring it has led who actually judges those painting competitions mate. You know, in a way, whoever we can pull a gag to do it right.
But what we find is that, you know, so we'd like to kind of make it, if we can, you know, do you know, the designers all the painters, you know, the lyrics or the juices, or, you know, these people the world that they've come we try and get them to do it. But quite often now they want the pattern with the come Saturday morning and they have to leave by the Saturday lunchtime. Yeah. And then we judge it about re We thought about 2:30 went to get it done for about 3:30.
So in the absence of open each other's it'll-it'll, if no one else is no better qualities found early myself, normally Tony Yates and then it will be a third person that we can, you can produce depending on, who is so right. It's Italian for their knots. No his name, that's awful. Anyway and Andreas I think his name is Andres know he was he was a personal and Tony put them in line.
So telling those no sleep, a lot of painters and kind of gets them in and really the Commissioners as long as you don't have something in the air and you're willing to look, we used to be people so that there's definitely an odd number. That's right. Well, and that has it rise jump. I don't know if John is asking to be a judge. You can see at this sort of lean your style into John style, maybe to get to get to catch his eye more, I think maybe. Yeah.
Indeed so bring the two and I think that's all. It's exactly that view. Yeah I think there wasn't a lot of brown at all. Right. Then into the one this year but you know if you're ordering people around don't-don't-don't speaking. Yeah, that's great man. That's good and I'm really glad
to see. It's keep it still going even after the pandemic and that kind of stuff like it's still going along and people still coming down and it's just a shame that people internationally and we're going to find it difficult to get there or just just be more of a hassle as suppose I guess. It's like me it's like me going to the UK. Yeah it's like me using Anasazi passport. It's going to be like the same kind of thing.
It's Say, but it's I feel cool Gobo concerns because it's not just a case of, you know, you basically going for like a full five node. We can write which is already quite hard to explain to building your spouse or your family that you taking a huge amount of money. Yes. Go to another country to play games and not hang out with in which she knows that the only way. Most people seem to really get get their pills swallow, it is to bring them along and make it into a wig holiday. See it.
And switch the cross. A habit, it, right? And then you stop that or if you want to bring your fingers with you on that. Now, it's like moving actual bomb on the plane, right? It's leading figures in here. I think not, you know, it's, would you like to put that in hand luggage? I think. I would not matter miles or keep it right here in my lab. If that's okay with you, it's their kind of things, really. Moving figures is terrifying, it is in it.
You have to apply them across the hemisphere that's tricky. This is why I sort of, you know, emphasize the point that people should start their own old hammer, in a Revival group, event, whatever it might be in their own country. And, I mean, like, for me to get to the UK, it's almost
impossible. Make like, unless I win the lottery, like it's just no way I'm doing it because, you know, obviously white, my son have to go and then and then what are they going to do when I'm gaming for like three days? You know what I mean? Like, so yeah, exactly. I've got it. I've got to pay for someone else. Along to keep them occupied and and all that kind of stuff, you know what I mean? Like, yeah, it's a nice dream but I love watching the photos
and seeing some video. I think Tom Reynolds took some video of the event which is great. He did like a bit of a sweep through the event halls and inside The Foundry areas they had look at the game tables and stuff like that. So that's really nice to see. So thanks to Tom for doing that for us. Yes, yeah. We're getting a lot more people comfortable. People with video audition out. So taking videos just sort of mean and it's like people are taking the plunge and doing it. Well, right?
So, hmm, yeah, thanks The Beatles song that's it. Does, is it helps to bring it alive for a lot of people and I mean going to go to the point about having events in you know, country obviously:, since we're going strong, you know what? Yeah, that's probably the most well, organized. All the others that I've seen, I don't know, you know, the fucking parents, you know, they do. You know and, you know, fortunately for us Foundry. Does you know, we could tell that little print we get that
little bigger made, right? And then boundaries, you know, against super generous, they will emit those poor, you know, other events, you know, in the year. So, yeah, some to Poland was in something social system to show you. So, you know, we're having a chip, your best. No to use a generosity where it's available to support other other events as well.
Yeah, it's great to see my Yeah, I know that I know that you need to polish fans game really strong, and that's great to see the Dutch old, Hammer events going to start up this year. So that's really good to see the Dutch. He's getting involved with that. And I noticed rally has their own sort of very, very small Niche group of people in Brisbane, of all places, doing it, all her event with Neville and the guys there. So yeah, it's I mean, it's either going to be, it's only going to exist.
We've guys crazy enough like us who want to keep doing this kind of stuff. if you know what I mean, like, Well, the thing for that you again, for those folks, you know, the sad part of them is I suppose they've got too much. It's actually much harder for them to organize because they would never do get several types of venues. As we can tell a lie, you know, yesterday has all the stuff, you know? So yeah, we're you know, I know when it's time to do consider myself an amazing organizer.
I, you look at the Polish one and, you know, the webpage and all the stuff that he's had to do to make that work, right? That's a well organized event. You know what we have is a beautiful and perfect Enter key. Stood by the fact that boundary has all this stuff, you know. Yeah. But it works and I suppose again, if nothing else, it's an inspiration. Yeah, for sure man. Now now dates have already been set for next year. Is that right between 23 they have and you can also tell
right? Yeah. I just sort of thing or board with some dates on it. Alright to the 6, let me just check that out. It's meant to be the first weekend in August and that's what we're always aiming for. So give me a second. I just been there for a while now, but I think that sounds right. May I think is the first week of August from memory. Yeah, that's what this is, of course to the six little. Yes, that's exactly.
Cool. So people can already start to sort of planning and, you know, you need feeling for people coming outside of the UK or even inside the UK. Something, in some cases to come to the bring out your lab, they need, they need a good 12 months to plan everything. Thing and get there, get there, fun, sorted and get there, get there, calendar, sorted out and and find their better halves to
do something else or whatever. So yeah, there's a lot of folks because it, you know, new accent, explosion oil drains. So it's very easy to follow the accommodation that's available because yeah I don't know why but I guess there's other people want to go there for holidays well so you know it's people do they stop working with white like now, you know? Don't have to get the discounts get the room so you get the location. The prime locations in such a
tone could be applied to new. But yeah, as opposed to most of us don't have seen this more people sitting there and he's, you know, a tall building 26 are in people into a single place, you know, inquisitive for the. Well, the next thing for the answers are do is set up like an actual B&B at on-site. That'd be the best a balloon. Listen, I can't imagine I'm with you. I am that's a great idea.
Like yeah, totally. Imagine the thought of me surrounded by 150 Warhammer nodes night and day. Well or better still just have like 10 setup. I have like because I think they've got quite a large property there where they are just have like people have like a tent area where they can camp out that kind of thing.
Yeah, well it's yeah loads of people in the If we if we ever have a suggestion box and we don't do because that is the one thing every single secretly just kept on the back down the road 10 quid and like, you know, you're responsible cleaning up all your stuff afterwards or whatever, Spain 10 quid for that space, you can pin for the night and it's in the summer. So it's not coal really like that. So it's quite Pleasant the I'd imagine, but yeah.
A lot of the people kept their account, obviously there's a lot of good dude. Yeah, there is a campsite which sadly is on the other side of the river enters. There's not an it's, you know, as the crow flies. So some mile or two away. But sadly, unless your parents just swim across the river that you have to go around the bridge which is much longer Journey. Right? But yea, there is loads. People camp and we have are people that get paid with seriously.
No accommodation plans. At all these solution is I'm going to sleep in a lay-by in my car. Right? And I'm not gonna like one or two people either. I understand, you know, every person or something and so yeah. But really need to be clean sleep anyway. Thank you, know, you see a lot of generosity of into a hotel room Charles Manson here to say no politely and walk away to expect but yeah, no that's good, that's good. Yeah combinations.
Another thing that people need to consider if they're coming out to bring out a lead and finding one early and getting getting a room somewhere and and that's that's a good that's good advice. Yeah, that that is its I mean I guess it's the heat thing is something that you said because what we're finding now is personality having heat waves and you can. Yeah. Yeah, that the actual conversations as hot as hell. Old hotels for old DMV love, you know, there's a headache.
Yeah, I think with the northern hemisphere is really co-opted this year. May really definitely. Yeah. So bring ice packs or bring the bring your own own fan or something to bring along to the combination as well. So we will paint. Yeah. And there might be shoes. Yeah. But well, Garth what's been really, really good to talk to you, mate. Thanks again for your time. I know you're really busy and choose that. Thank you.
God, thanks, really. But since no, no, I really appreciate you coming on and giving us an update May because I know you're the man, you're the main man who sort of helps organize these events every year. And it's just really nice to touch base with you every time. There's been a bring out your lead so that people can enjoy listening to what's been happening.
And maybe, you know, if they're lucky they have the opportunity to come and visit you guys at some point overseas or what have you and come and join in the fun. Or we look to attend next year, right? So we haven't yet tender them. I mean it would have been this year but go with. So yeah we haven't I mean I guess we're just let the previous one kind of subside, but we'd like to make it. I don't make promises but you know we would like to make a special.
Maybe there's some that's all that needs to be said right now. Like do something. They pour it. So you know, I don't know. I really hope that by then you know the government has ordered those forms are and we could have people it again, it would you code Russians movie gas problems or whatever? I don't know. Alby knows that sort of thing other than that but people will
be able to come. Okay. So overcome the financial crisis I have no idea but you know I have a lot of Hope or the one next year and yeah we will. I work two jobs, this. Complete some special, no commitments because all it is a purpose entity remote-controlled, but we intend, that's if nothing else is decoration. We think so. Yes, if you can, if there was a you were going, you were going to get out if he's next year right now. Well, I'm start start. Start your business case right
now. I've had a lot of numbers. I'll be putting down my ticket tomorrow so with any other things like if that's Kind of divine inspiration that I've had on my way to work this morning. Yeah. If those numbers come up mate, then I'll be definitely coming over there. You know, I think I think I can get away with it with my wife staying here. I think I think that'll be fine, I'll make up some excuse, I'll just give it loads of money and say, look, you know, you just go
and do what you want. I'll just, I'll just bugger off for like a week and I'll see you in a week's time. She, I think she'll be fine with it. It's a good deal. Those aren't ya mate. You know what? Each, I think she'll buy that. Yeah, she in money involved should be fine. So yeah, I'll pay my way out of that. Sad attic attic commitments and then I'll be able to go over there and I want to spend a week if I'm going. Now, if I go there I want to spend like a week or so in the UK. Yeah.
Good for you. Yeah, obviously. People kind of get the history books as well. Yes, I suppose. That's right. Get to or so days in London. But yeah, you know, jet lag is the bugger cool. That's exactly what that's all I need to know. I need a few days grace beforehand before the event. So, I really need to get the like Monday or Tuesday, get over the jet lag. And then adjust, because that's another thing people don't think about is the jet lag as well, isn't it?
You know, I've been to the UK, I know what that's feel. It feels like, but I was like, I think I was like 19 or 20 or that time so I can quickly recover from that. But bloody hell, mate. It at 40, 47. I don't think I'll be recovering too quickly. Exactly, right, you're gonna come over. You're going to get involved in Little Havana. There will be a Gilson Brothers arguments and your career. That's awesome. Okay, well thanks to thanks again mate. Thanks guys for coming on again
mate. So really appreciate it. And I know that the guys in the in that kind of community, really appreciate you coming on and talking about bringing a lead because I know you're very passionate about it. And and we just hope that it just keeps on going, you know, for the next ten years after after next year, you automatically just keeps on going and going. So that's all you and thanks to them because it was nice to meet some people that came out, right? Yeah. It's a big problem.
Cool. So yeah, very good. Yes. Yeah, I think I think I eventually, I think a lot of the guys now from Discord, you know, from our group anyway. I really intent on going there because a lot of them do live in the UK already, or they live in Europe. So it's very easy and accessible for them to get there. So, it's wonderful, they're very lucky. Yeah. That's, um, but only I may, I'll let you go and thanks very much again for your time and all the best and I hope, I hope.
Yeah. It The rest of 2022 is is better for you mate. Yeah, thanks so much for that and look good as well for you. Good luck with the lottery tickets. He said he's not great. If you give you all keep your mind. Thank you, Cindy. Thank you for watching my old Handler Ebates fund. Yes. Yes, yes. Well, after a few everybody would be a party when I get there then if we win the lottery is nice. Awesome. All right. Well, you take care. Excellent. Okay. Catch it. Item 8.
Bye bye everybody. Bye baby. Okay, ladies and gentlemen, we have here now is a special episode for the crown of command podcast because it's not Joshua from Japan talking here, so you can hear. But me myself from Germany and my good friend from the Netherlands. Get young catch on. How are you doing? Hello, yeah, I'm fine.
I'm just back from from a week's holiday was very nice, very relaxing, spend a lot of time with the family and now I started again this week and just in time also for getting everything ready for well, basically, the topic that we are going to discuss Yeah. And that's the crown, the corner of the crown to or the second painting challenge of the call of the crown cop. Yeah, crown of comment podcast. How long is it? The last 12 years now?
Yeah, I think so, it was during the I believe the first year of the corona pandemic, so that should have been in. When T20 that it started in the, in the summer, just after the summer, maybe in September or so. Yeah, I think I do remember exactly august/september some somewhere around that time. Yeah, I think, the first month was September and now in October. So, in two weeks, we have our second painting challenge.
It's not a competition. It's a challenge for everyone to just get your beautiful Miniatures. Finally painting painted. Because as And I think I speak for all of us. We have tons of them somewhere hidden in our hobby, rooms in our leaf, piles or black holes or whatever. So, it's really good to get them finally on the table. So how many people have signed up so far so far? I have 58 people that have
pledged to do something. And these are the people that have already sent me either or both their army lists and the pre-painting picture because those are the two requirements for joining. There are a couple more names on my list that have expressed interest but haven't sent me anything yet. So maybe they will come up with something and in the nick of time and maybe they decided that they were too busy after all. So let's say we have around 60,
participants all in all. Wow, that's a lot. And I mean also a lot of work for you because you are presenting the monthly results on your on your block, right? Yes, for the previous challenge, we posted all the pictures in the Facebook groups and then Josh took them all out and he added to them and he Put them into a video every month, and I asked him if he was planning on doing something like that again. And he said, no, there's too much work and I'm too busy for
that. And I myself, I'm not that skilled at video editing and stuff like that. So, we decided that it would be best to just put them all in a very big blog post. Everybody can send me a single picture at the end of the month. I maybe should Express that is going to be a single picture of what they have painted and then write something up. That can be a little bit of a Fluff piece for their army that can also be something like, what was I planning to do? What went well, what didn't go
as good as expected? Which new techniques did I try out? What do I plan on painting next month's? It's I just sent everybody, some sample questions that they Could use if they wanted to and then I'm going to put all of those together and upload them to my to my own personal hobby blog. I was a little bit too lazy to make a separate site for just this challenge. So this might seem to be a little bit of hidden advertisement. Please everybody come to my
Block, but I can assure you. That's not the case. I don't make any money off of it or something like that and I only and occasionally post on it anyway. So it was mostly sitting idle. It seemed like the channel. Yeah because it's totally fine. And of course you'll have the a lot of work, posting the stuff all, put it all on your block. I mean that's not something you do quickly and it's for ya all. Almost 60 people so it'll take a time.
So I mean I think that totally fine and what you say do we have any? Let's call them special armies so far taking part of the challenge.
Yeah, we do actually. Let's see, I know that was someone who had a third edition chaos Army that he pledged, which is quite nice because now we have an army for at least I believe every Edition from third to eighth, wow plus some fan-made editions, there are some some people that use I know Warhammer Renaissance, and I also believe there's one at least one more Hammer arm is Project, mmm. And there's also an army that I was sending a long time ago.
I don't quite remember it, but it was an Army that was built up of Miniatures of a different Army, but it all fit the same team. Let me see if I can find it real quick. I believe it was Used to be a chaos Army in Iraq as Army but made up Out Of Orcs and goblins units or something like that. Hey, now I probably have to have
to browse. I've got it all in a document, which has spanning 70 Pages now with all the army pictures and yeah, I probably can't find it very soon and a lot of people who pledged the chaos Army. So, Probably I should have done my homework on this one. So, very ambitious. I mean, you can get bash Orcs and goblins like possessed or blessed, by no gir. I think that would be possible to do. So, yeah, good. And I believe, whatever it was, it was that combination, but I'm
not quite sure 100%, no problem. Then the people have a surprise and So we are not restricted to official Army lists, all the additions like or the Euro Hema editions. So you're already said, we have old Hammer. Third Edition Army, we have of course for that fish. Fifth edition armies. We have six seven and eight covering the additions and also fan-made so and if I remember correctly we are Soon not restricted to use Citadel managers. Is that right? Yeah that's right. What it does?
Have to be a Warhammer Army lists that you're making with these at the goal for me. For doing this challenge is basically to help people get their Miniatures on the table and it doesn't really matter which Miniatures they are as long as they use them as a As a fantasy Army. And I think that was also the case for the last Edition for the 41st, call of the crown because I had a britannian army, then, and I believe, now, I didn't have any third-party models. I bought those later.
No, I'm I'm mistaken. I thought I asked Josh back in the day or a Jesse who was organizing. I thought I asked them if I could use third-party models, but I didn't include any in my original list. I did you some 6 Edition models as the upgraded nights version 6 of 6 Edition, plastic nights that I painted a grill nights to use Alongside the fifth edition Plastics because I only got to Prytania when the old world had already blown up and the prices
had blown up as well. So yeah, that's that's what I did back then. But yeah, I'm not really particular about Edition so armies. And basically, this challenge is a reflection of my own collection because I also have Miniatures range.
Being from pretty much every Edition, including some third-party Miniatures. And as long as they represent what they are supposed to represent, I don't care if you're say your dwarf, klansman if they are from Citadel, or if they are from from old lat, Mark or WarGames Atlantic romantic, or any of those companies that make dwarf Miniatures, even 3D printed as long as you have them represent, what they are, then that's fine by me. The goal is to make an army that
you can put on the table and that you can play with and adjusting from old people that have shown interest in this challenge over the past few months. I think that is also something that the community Really need it. Now, I'm also selling myself again and I don't want to do that because this is, this was just a little idea. I had, it's not even an original idea because I just basically took over someone else's
challenge. But yeah, I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on the challenge so far and I'm really happy that I can be able to serve the greater warmer community in this way. Yeah. Yeah for sure. And maybe someday we will meet on an event or so and play with our painted armies for the challenge against each other. So that would be really cool. Yeah. We should do that. Yeah. You. You only live like a like an hour and a half away from me or
something. So, it's actually, it's a bit of a, bit of a shame that we haven't met up yet. Yeah, that's true. Hmm. Siobhan. But busy. Yeah. Yeah painting with each other
managers. Yeah yeah but I know of a few other people here in the Netherlands that are also participating in the challenge and I even know that was also a nice shout out that I wanted to give that are a couple of people ready for people from the UK for gentlemen that are using this challenge to filled completely new armies. I believed two or three thousand points. And they are going to at the end of The Challenge. Play a 2 vs. 2, good versus evil battle.
Like with the challenge of cultures, what was it called? The tale of Taylor for gamers? Yeah. Someday they're going to do something like that and they're going to use this challenge for that. I'm really glad that this also inspires other people to get creative in their own way. Yeah, so you You just talked about your last painted army that patrolling Army for the last challenge. So what is your next Army going
to do? Well, I have, I'm not going to say too many armies, but I have many armies and, and my goal is to eventually be able to play every unit from every or him affection for basically, every Edition for tune-up. So, I still have a ways to go in collecting and I have an even longer way to go in painting. But because of that, I didn't really know what I wanted to do, what I wanted to paint. So I held a poll on the crown of command Facebook group.
Now, basically ask the community, well guys, here are my options. What would you like me to paint? And for some reason beastmen, got the most votes which is something that I hadn't expected at all. But yeah, I I was probably expecting something like, dwarves or skaven, I know that those armies are they have a very big online fan base, that's something that we noticed you doing some work aims or balls, and for some reason, people
elected beastmen. So I have now committed myself to a basement Army. Okay, so did you use patent report or one of the army lists from the Army books? As a guide or reference? Or just looked at what you have at home and use that. Probably analyst one. I have pretty much everything I need for a basement Army.
I do need some of the like a unit of corn goes and something like that, some special things with a mark of chaos, but I have been collecting basement for for a little while now, got a couple of second hand armies and I then decided to go with the six Edition beastmen Army book for my basis, because they have a lot of units and able to have those fun East hurt units, which is gauze and on Gore's combined, So I made a 3000 Point army with those Miniatures, which admittedly includes a few
special characters. So if I just want to feel them as normal characters, then it would be a little bit less than 3,000 points. And then, I also thought, well, what if I want to play this Army in 8th Edition, what would I need then? So then I added another thousand, maybe a little bit more points of Miniatures that weren't in these 6 edition book or that were, in addition to the units that I am already going to paint just to make them a little
bit bigger. Yeah. Okay. But that's going to be my my bonus section. So my main goal will be to paint that at standard beastmen Army for six Edition, which includes the be slow down Chariot battle standard-bearer. Couple of characters. Some Shaman's believe another chariot. And you also want to do a chaos upon by forgot to put it in the picture you in the best Igor and to Beast hurts and some mind tours and a couple of War
hounds. Oh, I already have some Santa Claus painted up. So that's that's gives me a nice mix of models. When I finally finished this Army. Mmm, and the Miniatures are mostly 6th edition. I guess, Yes. Yeah, I got, I got a few of those 6/7 addition Army secondhand. I do also have a large amount of demonic Bose beastmen with the halbert's.
Yes, I had a plastic ones and I do intend to use those as extras for my best Igor units, because they actually fit in there and and they they don't look Look too far off in scale is your surprising because usually when you get those Plastics, you can't really put them in with other elite units. But these apparently you can. So Yeah, going to try it. And I'm also going to rely heavily on contrast.
Paints, I already decided because well one I think baseman is an army that really lends itself to that, and to I also want to experiment a little bit more with contrast paints and just how they work and how I can use them to the best Advantage. Okay. Talking about paints. I mean, I I think the Josh talked with carnufex about the new range of Vallejo contrast pains coming up. Will you also try these out or just sticks to the Citadel
pains? But I am not against branching out but I just invested in that entire new set of Citadel paints. So I'm going to use those for now and but I will be keeping an eye out for other planes and other brands. And yeah, it's when I started playing Warhammer back in the, in the early 2000s, a classmate of mine, set these Citadel paints. They were made to be used with these Miniatures. So for some reason, for the longest time, I thought, okay?
When I paint Warhammer Miniatures, I can only use Citadel paints. And the only other experience I had was with some acrylics that my mother had lying around for me. Can post cars and stuff like that. So I use those in the beginning.
And then later, I painted everything over with Citadel paints and for some reason that that stuck to me and it took me the longest time to just get one or two pots of a different brands and little while back, I got a very big set of airbrush paints for the It's the Army painter has knows already thin to a usable thickness to use an airbrush and that has also really helped me because usually I was just messing about with the paint being too thick or too thin and that really took the
joy out of using an airbrush. And I use it much more often now and that's just because of those Well, let's call them third-party paints that I got. So yeah, it's a very long story short. I do not intend to check out the Vallejo paints anytime soon but yeah, I will keep my ear to the ground and if people are very happy and satisfied with them maybe to an extreme amount, then I will definitely consider them. I'm not married to g.w. when it comes to paint, even though it
does seem like that sometimes. No. I mean, they at least were the most readily available bobby pins. You can get in every year GW store, you could get the pains. I mean, I got a wild collection of different aims most evil fo, but that's because I come from more from the historical War gaming hobby. So I wanted to have this and this color because this match the uniform in this year best and not just not read so but they at me and totally. Yeah.
But that's, that's a good point. You you mentioned that because if you like me, I only played Warhammer. I never got into his store calls or even any other game system. So, When you only play war hammer and you only know of the Citadel paints, it took me the longest time to even learn that there were other brands out there. It was only when I sort of got more active in the in the
Facebook groups but it was. I think about the time when the, when the pandemic hit, then everybody was getting back online and maybe a little bit before that it was only then that I learned of Even the existence of Brands, like Vallejo and an army painter and Nostalgia, 88 and stuff like that. So so it looks like we will have y wide. Variety of different armies with a lot of people taking Parts. I really hope that a lot of people will stick to the challenge because I can speak
from my own experience. It is odd. Yes, but that's for me. The best part about the challenge is the I need a kick in the ass. Yeah, to keep going. It's hobby, but it's subtypes kind of work because you have to do it. And after you finish the unit on the last minute, before midnight, sending the email with a photo, something like that. Then it's really, really motivating to to keyboard. It will keep going and really rewarding.
Yeah. Yeah, it also, if you share the pictures here on social media or do on our Discord and other people just Give a like or a comment or so that keep also the motivation really high, at least for me and I think that just as we both said, the main goal is just to paint on it just because I don't know if in my life we'll paint all the Miniatures I have and I certainly will buy more. Let's it was. Yes, can I say yeah, I hope one day too. To, to be able to employ child labor.
My own case is going to be, of course, it's a male, maybe if they show an interest in it, but yeah, then I will probably still have plenty of money just lying around. Hey, what about your army? Must have? Because we've talked about my BisMan, but I am looking currently at a lot of metal dwarfs actually in two pictures. One of them is going to be your carmilla. Someone is going to be a bonus to your army. Yeah, that was a mistake. I fear.
I got carried away and yeah, I will paint fourth edition, Dwarven Army, and mostly Moroni was so the really old stuff and as a guide because I'm kind of lazy if it comes to list-making, I The sample Army out of the back of the army book, and after assembling them all on the, on the table for taking the photo, I realized that's not many because I think the analyst is around 1000 points are being let me check. Yeah, and I mean, they are dwarfs. So they are quite again sir 98. Yeah.
And and including some magic. Um so I think or ruins or whatever. So in the end you don't end up with a lot of Miniatures. And I know I was thinking, oh it's that's not many and you still have a lot of tools and they did it in the, in the Army book after The List. They, they wrote, if you want to, so, you got now, you're nice starter Army. If you want to expand, why not add another war machine or another Elite Regiment of I don't know, long beards or whatever.
So, you'll have a new selection of units, because, of course, you have to buy them and they want to sell their stuff. So it's like a kind of advertisement. And and then I went through these pages and I saw mmm, a gyrocopter, or that's a cool model, I will add a gyrocopter although Buckman's Rangers. Hmm, nice models. And and so that's the bonus. Picture. I just picked up the units and more machines. I like best from these and hopefully will include them to
the painted stuff. So, I will try to paint the 1,000 points first, and then try to add as many bonus units as possible. And for The Clansman or the the clan Warrior unit, I Something special because I just didn't want to add the normal plan Warriors, but I try to get as many of the so-called Imperial dwarfs. The old, my robot wolves as possible in the unit. So we are talking about the dwarfs that look like brizeida nights with chain mail and pot helmets and stuff like that.
And I think they really look. Look cool for me, they look like dwarves. So to say, and I'm not quite sure what color scheme I want to use. I'm thinking about blue and white, but I painted my elves fluid wide, so I'm not, not quite sure. What do you think? Oh, that's a good one. I haven't even thought about my own color scheme and now you ask me to Your color scheme on the Fly?
Well, I, what I did with my dwarfs is that I selected, which hold they were from and then I ended up in Barrack for the seaport because I like ships. So that's also a good excuse for why? My towards would be fighting against say, lizard, man, or High Elves. It's just my Barrack for dwarf. Raiding party. Which is totally in the fluff somewhere. I don't think, I don't know. But so I thought, well, I'll see
dwarfs the color of the sea. So, I have some, I have a color scheme with blue and like bluish-green. Those go rather well together. So if you're talking GW colors, then it's the blue is Enchanted, loser. The really bright blue, green is what's it called? Again scaly green. I believe so it's like it's not really turquoise but it is on the green end of what you might call turquoise. Okay but that's just how I did
my dwarfs. I always feel for some reason that at Green goes well with dwarves but I don't know why that is but I think about those Imperial dwarfs. I for some reason, something like green and yellow something that really stands out. But while painting yellow can also be quite a challenge. Yeah, I don't know, blue and white also really works well for the dwarfs. I wouldn't really go with red for dwarfs maybe apart from some details, like the weapon shafts. Yeah.
Because that would, Would Clash too much. I think with with the Slayers then your Slayers won't stand out enough with the orange hair. So I want to steer away from dead end of the color spectrum, and then you automatically end up towards either blue or yellow. I sure if we're talking primary colors, But maybe I've got two weeks, so still some time to made up my mind for that. Yeah, well, you could do either what I did or what you did for Josh. For the podcast, you can either
hold a community pool. How am I going to pay my dwarfs or you could make up a table with all the different colors that you can think of? And then roll to ahh, Three times on the table to get your basic color scheme. Okay? So you want that, I have moved our be. That is tentacular pink. Great get ya Tink. Yes, please. Well, you could you could maybe tweak the table a little bit to leave out tentacle pink. But yeah if you want a unit of slain ice dwarfs yeah sure. Go for it.
Pinks and purples. Well, that would be an obvious for sure. Yeah, looks more like a chaos War. It was usually rather heavily armored. So basically, anything goes well with with metal. Yeah, that's true. So so you can go anywhere you want with with what you can go anywhere you want with any miniature basically, but there are some some lore restrictions you want your Orcs Green your lizard's to look. May be green or blue, so someone
natural colors. But yeah, other than that, for uniforms, you can you can basically do anything. So it's just it's too much out in the open to make an informed decision on that true. And I'm now looking forward to that, you at least had one. I'll be no, you know. It's in your army and have to paint. Some white will be stored. That's a good idea.
Oh, maybe not in the but I will maybe not an entire unit but the command team, yes, it could be maybe a single albino or something, so that it stands out your well. I'm definitely going to do that. Yeah, thanks for the advice. Okay, Catherine so I think we have talked about our armies and enough so I think we Have a wide selection of nice armies in, how long is The Challenge running again for eight months in total? So we will be done at the end of May 20 23.
Wow, okay so and yeah, I'm also really glad with the way the community gave me feedback on this because when I first posted this, I said, well we're going to do two thousand points in eight months and then several people said, oh, Oh, too bad.
I want to join but do 1,000 points is going to be too much for me. So then I tweaked it a little bit so that you can now have at least 1,000 points and then basically in increments of five hundred points 1,000 to 1,500, 2,000 as a tear for the challenge and yeah, that really works. Well, a lot of people have pledged a thousand points 1500 points.
Also, plenty, that have Gone to their phonetic level that the 2,000 points plus and also got some other, some minor things for the community, those just questions that I mentioned, someone sent them to me. So for the people who don't know what to write here are some sample questions that you can use that. You can answer if you if you
want to use them. So it's just the feedback that I've gotten from the community and all the positive remarks from everybody that has been really encouraging and definitely shows me that this challenge is something that was well let's say that it was needed for the community community wanted to have something like this and just the the response is amazing. All those people who have pledged their armies Armies. I can tell you of the top of my head, how many points is going to be?
It's in? Yeah. Well, at least, at least 60,000, because we have 60 people and most of them have a lot more. So I wouldn't be surprised if we if we breach the 200,000 points, assuming everybody sticks to what they pledged. Hmm. And one last thing because, I mean, the challenge hasn't started yet We have two weeks to go, so if people want to join where and how do they find the enforce or can contact you? Yeah, basically, all you have to do is find me.
And there are many ways to do that on Facebook. I am here, Joan Van Ark that I'm also active in the crown of command Facebook Community. There's a pinned post there by me so if you just click on my name then it will bring you straight to me. I am also on this court on the crown of command Discord Community to.
If you're on this court you can just let as a special call of crown painting challenge channel that you can post your pictures or two that you can approach me. I think you're gonna, you can also find me on Instagram, but for the challenge, I don't think that has been done yet. I also opened up a an email address, which was in a bright idea. I had the other day to centralize everything.
Now I have to check because I'm not sure what I believe, the email address is Call of the crown to and then to is just the number two and gmail.com. Okay, Miss anywhere, where can I find that? Yes, call off the crown too. Number two at gmail.com. So if you send me an email on that, then I will also be able to see that and reply great and the address of your blog because I think there are also all the information already has this true.
That's also the case the block is GJ's Workshop or written together at. No, not at all ggh Workshop, dot WordPress. Dot-com, okay. Cool gasps. Yeah, so two weeks to go and I'm quite sure we will break the 60, so let's see if you can reach 70 or even more, so I'm really looking forward to. Yeah. So my mates and thanks for your time and have a nice weekend. No problem. Thanks for having me. Bye-bye, hello, everyone. My name is Paul.
If you've listened to all of the crown of command Park, as you probably heard my voice once before. Also, I'm Joe Guardsmen on the Discord, so feel free to message me anytime you want. What I decided I would try and do is help people who are kind of back reading from 6th Edition into 5th edition. The purpose of this is just to help with all the tiny little things that you can mistake during addition. Bleed, the funny part about this is that we're doing it backwards.
Of course, when we were, when we were playing back, back in the day, there is whenever there was a change we would always have to comb comb through the book and find the small changes that were made to upgrade the game, or in the case of some of the case addition change it completely So for this, I just want to help you help people who are maybe six, seven days addition players. Maybe pick out some of the tiny details that might be different in 5th edition.
When I started doing this, I was really surprised In The End by exactly how much the fifth edition book to the sixth edition rulebook were all. Copy and paste all the way down to the kind of corny flavor. Text of each of the abilities and and rules and sections of the game.
The one thing that I'm not doing with this, I'm not going over Army book differences or or even the magic differences the Magic, The Magic set from 5th edition and the magic that players would be used to in Sixth and on are so completely different. It would require a whole other podcast for it's really just the core section of the rules that I'm looking at. So just what you find in your main Rulebooks, probably- the
Magics just - the magic section. All right, so with that, I'm going to begin on the first pages of the rulebook busy, right. After you get past that you need Dice, and a tape measure to play. So one thing that's a little bit different is going from six to 5th. Five inch templates are entirely gone from the game. The largest you'll end up finding is maybe a four-inch somewhere, but it tends to be about a 3-inch template for almost at everything circular.
Then we get into characteristics of. One of the biggest changes that you'll find is PS is no longer ballistics kill it. It's now Bo skill in 5th edition so make sure you get that right. It goes on into the unit types. This is maybe more of an army book thing but most units in 6th edition tended to require a 5-10 models to attend models, at least four see, basic infantry, you'll usually find that it's five and fifty addition. Fifth edition does not have any
unit strength. So if you're, if you're ever trying to calculate things for breaking ranks, you only count the individual models. Cavalry friends is not count as two, like it would in sixth edition. And this also means that outnumbering is not in fifth edition at all, very big difference when you get into the turn phases, is the Magic phase moves for 5th edition. This ends up being very important for all sorts of reasons, particularly at the Spells are all written
differently. So it's important to keep in mind when it gets into movement, one of the good things is that one of the things about six addition that I liked is that it wasn't so movement restricted for wearing heavy armor and a shield. But in 5th edition, you do have to worry about You're four inches of movement going to 3 inches. If you're, if you're wearing heavy armor and a shield likewise your mounts movement would be decreased. Then into armor saves.
And in general, there is no one's on a D6. Always fail rule. So in 5th edition, if you can find the very rare situations of A1 Plus armor. Save you will need a modifier in order to beat and caused them to be able to fail. Their armed forces. In six addition, you have the armor bonus for having a hand weapon and shield and melee, but that is removed in 52. Action. So you're nice sword and board
troops. Unfortunately have to kind of suffer from a lack of armor in hand-to-hand combat when we get into a little bit of the shooting rules. In 5th edition ogre sized models are specifically labeled as large targets to get a plus one to hit. So it's that, that can be a bit different and a bit jarring because you're fairly expensive, not too heavily, armored 40 ml 40. Mm. Base models will be plus one to hit and fairly easy to hit and shooting. The next thing I ran into was
during charges in 5th edition. There is no limit on how many units behind your first choice that you can redirect to. So it is not going to come up very often, but if your opponent was a playing multiple small units, all kind of Stack together and he doesn't want to fight with any of them. You can keep declaring charges on new units that you couldn't have charged previously and kind of break a whole column of small
units. Another thing, it comes up with just unit types in general is fast. Cavalry in fifth edition. Is any model any Cavalry model where basically any model with the seven or more movement and that also has a maximum of five plus save. Then for Terrain. Standing on a hill, it allows you to shoot all of your ranks and fifth edition. Six. Additionally, the route allowed
one additional rank. When standing on a hill, sorry, guys, I'm starting to realize some of these are out of order, but I did them in order of going through the book, and sometimes it causes me to bounce back and forth, because the organization of the two books were a little different. Now, back to it, another shooting rule.
So all armies can shoot into combat in fifth edition, not Justice cave, and put the say, and then if you shoot into combat, You have to randomize them as fit, there's a 50% chance, you'll hit your own troops. Now this one I wrote down but I found out that most players and 5th edition, we're still doing corner to corner fighting. So if you have your squares perfectly lined with other with other same based models, you fight.
Not only the one or two that touching directly in front of you, but you go. You also can attack off to the corners if Perfectly aligned the I think the only reason I had this memory of maybe fifth edition we didn't do. It was because I remember specifically in six addition. They had a diagram stating that weekend, but I found it all my friends who even never played 6 Edition. Also Always used corner to corner fighting.
It's so if you have someone who's confused or there's a real stickler, you can definitely talk it out with your opponent. And it'll be just fine corner to corner. Fighting is much more fun. And in fact, there's there's a lot of things in the sixth edition book that I recommend. Even the older fifth edition players just Just factor in everything, that's not the magic and Magic item system. And you basically have a just a good FAQ for the fifth edition
rule book. Personally I even go, as far as just using seven I would use the 7th edition rules in order to correct some fiddly problems with the system, but then still play with the fun magic items and sun, and sometimes goofy rules of the fifth edition. Army books. No, in 6th edition. This is for flying models. You can ignore obstacle attack penalties, if you fly, however, that stipulation is absent in fifth.
So if you attack models over a wall, even though you took me flying, you still have to suffer the penalties in kind of rules as written. I kind of like this kind of like six giving you that image of them just harpies flapping over the wall and being more effective at attacking those particular difficult positions. And in combat, there are no Overkill bonuses in 5th edition, okay? So there's no Overkill cap in physician so that lets your hero. Hammer models go even more ham.
If they're not given a proper Target, you can get an Overkill bonus of Ten, perhaps with a, the right kind of crazy, Lord, attacking a measly Champion. So and in combat around, combat, also Panic checks are increased to a full 12 inches. If a friendly unit breaks from combat in fifth edition, so things will be breaking much more often.
If you're not careful, In this Edition, one thing, you have to be careful of in maybe work with your opponent for is that in multiple combats because there's no unit strength, the direction of fleeing can be a little bit unclear. So you may have to just work with your opponent and kind of flee and reasonable Direction. Something that just maybe for position players looking at the 6th edition following up into
fresh enemy. Six option has some ways to kind of Measure and work out, how fear and Terror will work against those units and give you a nice order and method of executing the rules. Another very important rule in that comes up is in 5th edition, there is no overrun. So, if you completely murder unit, you on the first turn, you will not be able to follow through. Its can make speed bump tactics very effective.
I think we might, you might have heard the door of players talking about using dwarfs layers, just as speed bumps in order to guarantee charges for your other. It's because even if they're completely wiped out. Yeah, there's no way for the enemy to come in to you. Now, in fifth edition is also a psychology issue. Is if you lose your General in 5th edition, your entire Army
will need to take a panic test. I've had this happen and just my entire Empire Army is run off the board, even with elves. It's been it's been brutal at times. So definitely I'll be very, very careful with your General in physician. There's there's no Panic for units that are wiped out with shooting next to you. The fifth edition. Terrible is a little bit larger at 8 inches. And in fifth edition stupidity, has a lot more granularity to it.
You may still you might stay still or move forward. But in six, you was always moving forward. Frenzy is quite different in fifth edition your attacks, double fully. It's not just plus one. Also, your only mean to psychology while in charge range and fifth edition. Also frenzied characters have a very interesting. Rule because you double your attacks. If you have a hero doubling from
three attacks, 26 attacks. Plus maybe an additional hand weapon, or or other items include included, what you have to do, is at the end of it to see if your character can avoid exhaustion, you have to roll to D6. And if you roll equal to or under that amount, the amount of attacks you made, then you have your basic attacks reduced by one. You can only ever be reduced to one attack, but it's very, it's very easy.
For say a wood shelf hero that's near the collagen of blood to be swinging 9 or 10 times and she will almost always get exhausted after after the first tech. And then we brought down to six attacks, plus 14 July 2000. It's pretty, it's pretty important for balancing out that insane number of attacks that can be thrown out though. When it came to hatred, there was also a major difference. So, not only do you re-roll the
tax. but you must pursue and When you take brake tests, if you're fighting a hated mop hated enemy, you have an unmodifiable 10 when taking those tests, it's one of the one of my least favorite rules to see Envision, I never really played an army with hatred and it's it was always just so hard to get around that. You can get stuck in with anything for the for way too long, and then they're getting flanked charged because Does this one units will not will not
budge for rule? That's sometimes. It doesn't feel like they even paid for. is a little bit different from stubborn and sixth edition. Where you could always kind of feel that that was the unit's role. Speaking of which stubborn is gone, there is just no stubborn roll and now for a little bit about weapons. So in 6th edition, double handed weapons could charge and still strike.
First, the charge rules, overrode, the OE Strike last rules into the region, is not the case in 5th edition, it has double hand. Weapons is always striking last no matter what pistols were a little bit different. Now, both with this slightly different range and Maylee ability that had them keep working in physician characters, may not March. When there's any bait within
eight inches and there's also no provision for. 360 line, three and sixty line of degree site when those characters are on foot when you're being shot at, if you have a character in a unit and there's less than five models you have to randomize fully, it doesn't spread across like it like it did in six what you end up having is you if you have 55 models left for our, the unit 1 is the Doctor, you'll roll your dice assign a 1, 1 2
3, 4 5, 6 for all those models. And then say your character would only be the five said I've had shots come at me in 50 Edition where the vale almost all. Hit my My general and actually killed the general that way in a very unfortunate streak of luck of luck against me. All right into Skirmish units involving characters. So if you have a skirmish unit with a character in it, they do not receive the characters leadership.
They also do not receive the generals leadership, or nor can they use battle standard-bearer rerolls for brake tests? if you have a character in the unit and you have look out sir it's a little bit backwards in 50 dishin so make sure If you were rolling and you expect it to be a one and you, and you get hit by the cannonball in Physicians actually roll. And if you get a six, you guys are by The Cannonball.
So just just make sure before your role if you're that you and your opponent have the same expectation of what you're rolling for. If you have a battle Center bear with your unit and the unit also has a standard the battle Center and standard can stack and 5th edition so you can get a place to just from banners in 6th edition musicians. Still allow you to can allow you to Rally, but in fifth edition, they don't have any rallying a railing Aid ability.
When you add character Champions, two units, they're purchasing the character section, they're not part of the unit selection. Like there are in the 5th of June the 6th edition Army books. The monster chart is much more granular. So if you lose if you lose your writer. You'll want to consult a chart. There's a much more detailed and varied set of responses that the Beast might have also. Bound monsters.
So same monsters, like the dark elf Hydra they're much harder to control than they are in in later editions and there's also a lot more of them. Almost every Army can take some monsters at the back of the book. However, all of those monsters will need leadership check just to do what you want them to do. During the during the that turn they can't use the generals leadership during that role. And there's a high chance that they'll just booked it and leave
the board. If you just don't keep asking those saves those leadership checks. Aunt. Bound monsters are just not very safe to use. I have used them a little bit. but all with dark elves where the hydras a has leadership bait, it's a little bit easier and the Manticore that takes checks, even if there's a rider on it because they're just a angry angry little Lion bats. so, I guess, on two things with wings, the Flying movement is 24 inches in this, not 20.
So in 5th edition. Flying units will be going to charging a little bit faster than what you might be used to. Also flying units are not automatically skirmishers, they could be in certain cases, but many of them will be ranking up with no ability to break into Skirmish formation. If a flyer unit. Losses but passes a brake test. They will still end up fleeing the there's no Pursuit.
It's called The Driven off Rule and so that you may need to give a good read in some cases but it's a very interesting Rule and this probable even include your characters on dragons. If you just couldn't do enough wounds, but of course, your general is a high enough leadership to pass a brake check. He'll, he'll fly off. really quick, although I do not believe that he breaks He just falls back into a safe position unwilling to get stuck in Altoona. Unit type, we have chariots.
So cherries had really big changes between the two editions in fifth. They're much more resilient and they don't explode too high strength weapons in fifth, you there, not one stat block you randomize shooting and melee between the Chariot body, the crew in the beasts. And both. Melee and shooting are on
slightly different tables. So you'll have to check this can also lead to crazy things happening like the Riders being killed and then or the cherry juice being killed and then the Chariot careening off into unknown direction or the Cherry can just stopped dead and then the charioteers can Dismount and other large Target classification for shooting is
war machines. So even your stone throwers and repeater bolt, throwers will technically probably count as a 10-foot wide or 10 foot tall Target and they're specifically labeled in the shooting section. So your crew and war machines are a little bit more, vulnerable to basic shooting this Edition. The stone thrower is a little less effective and that you have to cut you.
Have to fully cover models in order to in order to get, we have to cover more than half of the model in order to get a chance to roll for plus to hit them. The one getting is that the strength is a little bit higher. The model directly under is hit automatically though when it comes to cannons. The regular Cannon is D4 wounds not D3. When you have a bolt thrower, this single shot is only strength 5 in this Edition.
But it does do deforms. Not III, also repeater both doors are a bit nastier at times in this Edition. With even the repeating shots shooting four shots ignoring armor, also piercing ranks, ignoring armor all the way through demon animosities in the main rule book and fourth edition as well as the ability to challenge greater demons. Chris said magic is vastly different. So we're not even a touch on it here. Now, one of the main reasons, one of the main things, you
always want to check. Whenever whenever you look at each different editions, a, if your group plays all sorts of different things, is definitely skirmishers the Skirmish you model. The scrimmage rules are one of the only things that probably changed in every single Edition that in fast, Cavalry and both of them are such an important part of fantasy to me. That's where you really can maneuver and can outsmart your opponent.
So, I I always try to get these as correct as possible whenever I'm playing any particular Edition. So, in the fifth edition, skirmishers can spread up to two inches. So your formations, we get quite
wide. And if you have a musician, you can actually form up into a full into a ranked unit now, because you also have the two inches of space, you can actually shoot and see through all through your Through the gaps in between models in six addition, it was almost like having a block in front of you weird cloud of of models that you couldn't shoot through. The fifth edition of commercials
are also a little bit strange in that, you can be engaged. but, Since the the models don't suck into fight. There's a chance that they could be. In the unit could be in a combat but not everyone is engaged. Now, so that mean what they allow you to do, is the models that are not, engage can actually shoot and behave, more or less. Normally they have to Endeavor to get into combat as quickly as possible.
But sometimes it might be floating around in the back on a turn where you didn't charge and during your exertion, you can actually Take potshots while you're waiting to get into combat and like I said, you can form up into a block with the musician. You can also deploy a skirmishing unit in a block formation. And then, you can break them into a skirmish formation at any time, just by moving out of a standard regimental Square now because you don't kind of suck into combat.
Skirmish unit is actually a pretty heavy screen against Certain are certain enemy units that focus on doing wounds in order to kill you. You could easily hit a skirmisher and then you, Turn to a line on it. Maybe you'll touch one more one more, skirmisher model, but maybe maybe not even. So you might be fighting again with just Two or maybe Max three of your models against this one
skirmisher. and if you don't close enough wounds, you may not actually cause enough to break the unit or two color to cause a bad enough check. So this has its has quite a lot of consequences. When controlling your enemy, you can also run the skirmishers up to within an inch of an enemy tournament tournament just an awkward position and the unit might not even want to charge to get rid of you at that point because their first, their Pursuit would take them kind of
All right. So that's all. That's all my notes. I just want to keep this short and sweet anyway because I feel like it's a little bit dry, what we're going over. But I just wanted to be like Some of them might help spark your memory that. Oh, I have to go look at this. Or I have to double-check and make sure that I'm not making an assumption that my opponent has
a different idea about. Alright, so thank you very much and Here, we're getting into 2021 now but your let's play Warhammer like it's 1997. All right. All right, have a good day. Thank you.
