Episode description

On November 18th 1978, over 900 members of People's Temple took part in the act of revolutionary suicide under the instruction of their leader. Hours prior, Congressman Leo Ryan and 4 others were murdered by temple members at the Kaituma airstrip. Until the terrorist attacks of 9/11, this event referred to as the “Jonestown Massacre” was the largest loss of US civilian life not caused by natural disaster. Join us in part two as we discuss the creation of Jonestown, everyday life in Guyana for People's Temple members, and the brainwashing and manipulation they received from their leader Jim Jones.
