Welcome everyone to a new episode of the Conscious Action Podcast. This is Brian Berneman, your host. For this episode, I wanted to explore. The idea of how do we create change? So I have talked a lot of times about this topic and it's one that keeps on showing up.

I mean, this is part of my work and it shows up in a lot of different ways, especially with people or with movements that are wanting to bring about change in the world. And one of the biggest things that I see. Is that sometimes there hasn't been enough of an understanding of what led us as people and as a society to what we are now wanting to change. Is it some actions? Is it a mentality? Is it a way of living? When we don't understand sometimes what led us here, it is hard to change.

Because a lot of times we are just stuck. In a loop. It's a cycle of doing something and then we do the opposite, but it's from the same space and therefore we go back. It's kind of like just a pendulum that goes one way to another and back and forth. And one of the things that I invite a lot of times to, to my clients and the people that I work with is to try and understand. If there's a different way to bring about change, whether that is within themselves or with others and within society.

And this comes a lot of times from the idea that, as an example, there's a cycle of a perpetrator doing something that we believe that it's wrong. And then there's a victim of that. And the victim, a lot of times, as it is in that cycle, what they want is to get back to whatever the perpetrator did. To that person or to that thing. Therefore, they end up becoming the perpetrator. For that one to become the victim and that just enabled a cycle to continue.

This is a lot of the work that I do with, with trauma. This is one of the biggest things that comes back. And the thing with that is that most times. It doesn't help getting back at the other person to our inner experience. What helps is to see things differently, a shift of perspective, a change in consciousness and And embracing what happened from a different lens so that we can get out of that cycle and we can create something new. That is the change that we create.

We change lens by embracing something different, not getting stuck on the same way.

When we are wanting to see changes outside, for example, more In a bigger scale, as we see, we need to understand that if we might still be in a mentality That created a lot of the things that we see that are wrong in the world, that came about from perhaps the way that we are experiencing capitalism, greed, the patriarchy, colonization, a lot of different things that led us to this moment, we need to understand how have we internalized in our being, in our mind, and the way that we're

thinking about potential solutions. With that, have we internalized it? Are we thinking from that place? Can we step outside of that to see other ways? Because one of the things that I keep on seeing is fighting. Fighting leads to separation, fighting leads to this disconnection from one another. And my belief is that to create. Changes in the way that I envision them, at least. We need to come together. We need to step outside of the paradigm of separation.

Of the paradigm that enables this, this is me, this is you. And I'm just going to get this because that's not enough. And it's a fight constantly, and it's a competition against each other. I all of the time embrace and aim to embrace a change that is conducive to connection, to collaboration, to co creation, and to see, yes, Things might not be what I want them to be in one way. How can we create a different way so that we don't get stuck there?

This is a lot of times sometimes the challenge when we have been oppressed or certain people have been oppressed and it's hard to get out of that because there is that feeling. This is why like we develop survival mechanisms. And this is where a lot of times it takes a greater level of awareness to be able to see where is the motivation coming to do certain actions. Where am I coming from to take this next step? Am I wanting to change things from a place of lack and scarcity as an example?

Or am I wanting to make changes from a place of abundance and connection? Am I wanting to create a better world for everyone? Am I wanting to create a better world just for some that think the same way that I do? How am I approaching how change is? And a lot of times this is the key on understanding, you know, our inner experience creates the outer experience. Our inner experience creates the outer experience, even if a lot of times we don't think that it's true.

My reality is based on how I live within myself. If I live differently, my reality would be differently, would be different. And it doesn't mean that, you know, like, whatever is happening around the world, that it's not part of my immediate environment, is not happening. But there's a reason, in a sense, why whatever is happening around me is happening. And that has to do with me.

And this is where a lot of times I encourage all of us, because this has been part of my journey, to take responsibility for my own experience, because this is, you know, if everybody would actually take responsibility for their own experience and would have a certain degree of awareness and high consciousness level to self reflect and to take responsibility for how they are showing up and for their actions, then the world will be really different.

Now, how can I expect others to do it if I am not doing it? This is about understanding the connection of the inner and the outer, and the connection of how we create change. We create change by being the change. You know that saying, be the change that you want to see in the world? It is true. We need to do it. And this enables us as well to be able to do more sometimes.

Because when we When we are more aligned, when we are more balanced, when we are better in the sense of our well being, mental, physical, emotional, all of the different parts of our being, then we can show up better. We can actually do things that lead to some of the changes that we want to see. So it's a really interesting paradigm shift to be able to see if we are combating, in a sense, the things that are not going well from the same lens, or if we can actually do it differently.

So I invite you to think about this in your own experience when you see something wrong or when you see something and you want to change. What is the driving force behind it? How are you showing up in that moment? Are you showing up from a different level of awareness? Trying to see differently? Trying to create a different way of engaging with it?

Or are you just being in the same space, which is okay, this is not about judging, this is just about inviting a new possibility to create a change, whether that is for ourselves, our circumstances, or for the collective, from a different place, a different level of awareness and openness, a curiosity that we have. It takes us in a different direction and not continuation of what is happening.

So let me know if any of this resonated with you if there's anything that actually you are implementing or you have implemented in the past This is a lot of the systemic constellations work that I do Is a lot of the things that I talked about as well. So, if you're interested in that Let me know because there's so much in that lens to, to explore. I hope that you have a beautiful day.

I hope that you are able to take the time to see from where you are coming and what's the motivation behind the changes that you are seeing. Have a beautiful rest of your day. Bye.
