Episode description

Up to 43% of men and 6% of women will get a hernia throughout their life. Of that, up 15% can have substantial post-surgical complications.

The most type common area for a hernia to occur is in the inguinal canal or groin. There are many variations of hernias with the primary types being direct or indirect.

During this episode I discuss the global consensus on hernias and the lack of research for therapists to help navigate best practice when helping people who have had a hernia repaired surgically.

Lastly, I discuss two major topics with reference to hernias, mesh vs non-mesh repairs and “watch and wait”

Have you had hernia? If so, did you have surgery and was it successful?
