#282 - Eros Energy by Versace

hello everybody , welcome to the cologne podcast .

We have a lot of energy today . That's right . We're two best friends with lots of energy , smelling fragrances and giving you an uneducated opinion .

That's correct and the reason why we have so much energy right now is because we finally got our goddamn hands on versace eros energy well , let me tell you what ollie 737 has to say about eros Energy from Versace .

I like it . Not super groundbreaking , and I didn't expect it to overtake the original Eros . It's a cool everyday fragrance . Smells like Allure Homme Edition , blanche . Oh , I've wanted to get my hands on a bottle of that . Okay , okay , more than a Ventus to me . Some may find the citrus blast at the beginning overpowering . Similar to Allure .

Edition Blanche . Can I read the one I thought you were going to read ? Yeah , go for it . And , by the way , why is everything I get ? It's got to be compared to Aventus just because it's citrus . Yeah , there's not even pineapple notes in there .

You can't use citrus in a fragrance unless you're trying to be Aventus .

What the hell , I thought you were going to read this one . I'm going to reiterate Whoever or whichever people are in charge of the release of this fragrance should be fired immediately . A complete embarrassment and a disaster . Oh , okay , I think they're talking about you announced it , it's just whatever . In fact , there's no like hey .

We were just like . I literally just called at random the other night to our local and I talked to and they were just like we just got it today . Come by tomorrow , we'll make you guys a sample of it . Yeah , so that's what we do . We got in the car this morning , we went over there and we picked it up .

I told you it already in the car . When it comes to citrus , they're trying to keep up with beyonce's lemonade drop .

Oh , you think that's uh where drop it out of nowhere drop it out of nowhere and be like another one but there's been and there's been no real advertisement of this . You know , at least with that dumbass robot dick there was at least videos , campaign posters when he walked in anywhere . Yeah , it's true that piece of shit gets it .

But everybody loves arrows and everybody wants to smell the new one , so I really want to smell it , and we've been going on for five minutes , so can we just ?

I'll shut up before we get into it , though , we still gotta do our one night stand review of red tobacco intense by mancera hit the music , todd .

Okay , guys , this one is actually kind of a hard one to give you a review on . I'll tell you why the scent profile is , to me , actually better than the original . Agreed . It is smoother . It's more elegant , jous . Smoother , it's more elegant , jousy . It's just something about it and it lasts forever .

Look , we sprayed it a couple days ago . Smell my hand .

It's still literally there and he's taking two showers .

Two showers a day . I've had four showers . I've washed my hands god knows how many times . The longevity is very intense . In fact , I was thinking that days later maybe we're just looking at the wrong metric for intense , maybe we're thinking projection should be intense .

I'm gonna say the longevity of this bad boy she intense yeah , so either he can't wash his ass properly or either this shit's legit intense , no , as much as you love red tobacco , I don't .

I've tried to wash this off . This is just something you can't wash off , much like other one night stands here's the problem for me at least .

I love everything about it , except except the projection .

You need it louder yeah , it's like if somebody's standing within like a foot of you , they're gonna smell it , and it's still not like loud and off-putting , but it does smell good . But I cannot stand how close you have to be to smell this thing .

Here's where you and I differ on this , because I prefer that and I want fragrances . I want people to get close to me . You're like stay away , don't come any closer . I'm an introvert , me . I'm like come on in , let's have a chat . So in that way , I do prefer fragrances to be closer to me .

I want to be like hold on , hey hey , yeah , I mean I get that , but there's just , it's just got to have a little little . If it had just a little bit , maybe it you could smell it from like three feet I'd be like it's in I'm . I'd be like it's in , I'm good with this . I would say it's a great . You want it to have power , lots of energy .

Yeah yeah . You want people to stop and go . I just stopped smelling your fragrance . Right now , I actually have a boner . I'm not going to show it .

But If you know , you know , with that one yeah if you know , you know with that one um , yeah , it's a skip . When do you ?

that's a new thing going on in the fragrance community right now . Look that up , guys . That's weird , wild videos being sent out to people . Yeah , that's a weird one . Yeah , so for me it's a strong sample for sure . If I loved red tobacco more , I would say it's a buy , because I'm sure you can get it for a good deal . It does smell good .

The perfect person for this is if you absolutely love red tobacco , yeah , but you think it's too loud . It's too loud . If those are your two checkoffs that you hit , go buy it today because it's great . Go check it off , okay . There you go . That's that . I'm ready to smell eros energy .

Ooh , okay , very lemony . Smells like a lemon head Dude . It smells great . It smells like that sour than sweet lemon .

Yeah for sure . Actually , I think home gal at said it best . She said it's kind of zesty for sure . Yeah , you know what that you know , like the kids say , this is definitely zesty for sure man , we had a lot of people writing in that this smelled orangey .

they kept saying like oranges , yeah , and that type of citrus to which we were like , why make it yellow , yeah , and use a bunch of orange smelling stuff like Mandarin type vibe and stuff like this .

I mean , I do think it does have that in there and honestly , I can get that vibe , can you though ?

It's more lemon . Head to me it is more got that kind of bitter , sour , tiny bit of sweet lemon candy Guys , I love the opening of this . It's nice . Yeah , that is nice .

This might be the most legit , accurate lemon zest opening . I have ever smelled on a fragrance Because some , you know , like under the lemon tree some other stuff gets a little too pledgy lemon or something kind of synthetic .

And then it has that like dish soap smell to that one , which ruined it for me . And then it has that like dish soap smell to that one . Yeah , which ?

ruined it . For me , this opening so far has got to be the most accurate lemon zest I've ever smelled , and I'm liking it .

And it has that undertone of that Eros that you're used to from Versace .

Wow , man , and they just fucking dropped it .

We're about to be in .

September , yeah , I mean for us hey , for us it's still good right .

Yeah , that's true , we'll get our winter in january , but we're still 90 degrees outside , uh 97 , 98 .

Yeah , we're up there good for us , but for any of you guys anywhere else , pretty good , the opening is legit . Good , I don't think this is going to be super loud , though .

Maybe in the sun , maybe you think , maybe so , yeah , it isn't super loud , but it is . I like it . It's simple . It is actually really simple , but I do kind of dig it . I think they went in the right direction with this .

I think they did too . This is actually really good . And now I can hit you guys with the price and popularity , because this is about to blow your mind .

We were very tempted . But Technical difficulties yeah , I'm going to call them financial difficulties .

But let me tell you how tempted we were , because we're willing to buy it and give it away .

Who knows , something may happen , I don't know and you asked me let's just tease the story out . Because you asked me hey , how much do you think it's gonna be ?

that's what I asked you yeah , I said gotta be at least 150 , it's an edp . So it's not like you came out EDT , it's an EDP , got to be at least 150 . I said we just bought Sauvage Au Forte for 200 , and that is like EDT type vibes , it's water-based , for God's sake . Yeah , I was like this is 150 to maybe 180 , even I would see you guys ready .

thing I am just going to tell you guys . I said , even then I said , if they do the right thing , that's going to be a good metric to go off of for this fragrance . Yeah , and smelling it right now , knowing that , pretty impressive , not bad . Maybe they're going to reset the market .

Coming out with this type of fragrance . At that price , I guarantee you is going to push more sales there than the competitors .

You're literally $6 away from being $100 less than the new Sauvage . That is crazy . And this smells great . I'd say this smells better than the new Sauvage to me . Sure , yeah , I'd go with that .

I am surprised . This is right up my alley , by the way . I love fresh , clean citrusy fragrances . I mean , who doesn't right ? But I especially kind of gravitate toward these .

This accurate though . I mean I agree , this is like done really well this is like similar to when we smelled that light blue forever .

Yeah , that kind of like realistic grapefruit . That was good too .

Yeah , this is kind of that realistic lemon zest dude this is the most , unless somebody can prove me otherwise so far in our career here , this is the most accurate lemon I've ever smelled I'll say lemon zest .

Lemon zest , yeah , because it has a sweetness that you don't get from the actual meat of the lemon , but you do get in that zest , wow makes you say all right , all right all right .

What the fuck ? Why did they fuck up this release , though I feel like that's where everything so far is right with this , but the release is so brain dead to me yeah , it was um , I dropped a ball for I mean , look , I don't work for any of this shit , but if I did I'd be like we don't make it .

This is the only leg that fragrance influencers can stand on right now , because we wouldn't have known if they literally hadn't just everybody started spraying Versace Eros energy out there , yeah , even some went so far to go .

I have it . I can't show you it , but it smells good and that seems a little weird .

Oh yeah , I was a couple of months old . Yeah , you know what I'm talking about . I know exactly who you're talking about .

And it felt like a lie . Yeah , the comment section was riddled with that exact statement . Yeah , it definitely felt weird .

Yeah , trying to beat everybody . Yeah , and I hope that's not a new trend . I mean , I can get behind you go . Here's the rumors that we're hearing . Yeah , that's an easy way to make content that people still that are wanting to get hyped up will still watch it , don't lie . Yeah , that's just weird .

And he , hey , look , all intents and purposes it may not be . You can do some research , Go watch You'll see the description also doesn't kind of match what I'm smelling right now .

So I'm saying I don't know . Yeah , it felt like he had an idea of the notes from the release notes and then he just made something up . I smelled . It can't show you that I have it , can't really prove that I did smell it , but it's good . It smells like list notes . I don't know , man , is it really ? Is it come down to that ?

I hope it's not that , because that's just . I'm going to be against that . But I will say back to this fragrance guys , I'm telling you this the citrus is still strong .

by the way , it's still going good . My only concern is that it will die down too quickly .

It may , but right now the citrus is really hanging on . This is really good . It's really well polished . Who's wearing it ? Who would wear this beautiful lemony , zesty fragrance ?

Hmm , I think he's about to turn 36 .

This is such a weird one because I'm so shocked at how look guys it's . I don't think it's going to be projection beast or uh , maybe in the heat maybe , and I don't think it's going to be a beast mode last 20 hours . But I will say , for that price point , yeah , edp , and what I'm smelling right now , this is shockingly good .

And I'm also shocked about just how it just rolled out , just out of nowhere , like they don't even give a fuck about the thing . Dude , it's shocking me , it's blowing my mind . I know , yeah , it's wild . It is good , though it smells good , I'd have to say .

No , not off the top of my head . God , it smells Actually , because you just said pine needle thing and just hit me it is this accurate lemon zest with this subtle undertone of like Montblanc Explorer a little bit . You get that vibe . Let me try . So maybe that's why that person was thinking kind of a Ventus in a way .

Oh , I see what you're . Yeah , I can kind of see that kind of a ventusy vibe . Maybe I am a fucking asshole .

And yeah , for sure , and I mean thinking of it that way . I mean , god , mom , blanca sport was great , yeah , but oh , now you hate it . Are you hating it ? No , no , no , I was gonna say I no .

I was going to say I feel like Steve's going to , you know , reach through the radio and slap me in the face . I might like this more than Mont Blanc Explorer , though .

Really , yeah , interesting , okay , especially on this cast airstray app and let me tell you , the bottle looks cool af in person . I do like the aeros bottles . I do too . I love the , the color , the yellow . It's something that like really grabs your attention . It is a badass looking setup . This . Yeah , how did they make something kind of this ?

We'll have to look guys we literally just gave away savage o forte , yeah , 210 bucks . Yeah , so , uh , we're not . You know , we got to pay some bills around here .

We got lights to keep on , we do have bottles already at the studio that we're handing out , but that's just as far as this new release we wanted to man we we logged on , we look , do we have it ? We're this close .

The lady was like getting excited about to ring it up you know , this is what makes me want to establish relationships with brands , because we've already told you this in the past and this isn't a dig , anybody but we're not going to be the influencers that have a stack of bottles behind us and because of that , we don't have a reason to keep bottles .

This you guys will be getting it . It'll be going out yeah no questions asked . So in the future , who knows , that may be a thing . Until then , when we get the money , we will get a bottle . We'll probably pull out five mil or something of that so we can revisit it later , but then we'll , yeah , big juicy bottle Send it out .

This is great . This is shocking on a lot of levels . There's a lot of head scratching going on with this . Good and bad , the good is . The fragrance itself is great .

Look , two hours from now we may be pissing and moaning , calling each other , but I have a little non-buyer's remorse right now that we didn't get the bottle of it . Yeah , this is one that I would . I mean I'd contemplate keeping in the collection .

I would want to have for me dude . This is a great summer fragrance .

If you love cedrat boise , this is like a very fresh version of that yeah , and maybe not as loud and punchy as that , but but yeah , I'm with you on that , because whatever montblanc explorer kind of does and what this is kind of doing on that , back end .

Those are kind of like that woodsy birchy sort of yeah , I'm , I'm pleasant surprise guy .

It's a buy for me .

I think this is a great buy yeah for the price , that's great I'm scared at what the new ombre leather is going to do . Oh , you know what ? We did have a letdown with dark leather . Yeah , spice bomb . The odombre leather that's out too . Yeah , that one too .

It's like it's announced , but is it out ? It's listed on somewhere .

Yeah , I don't think it's in the us yet , or if it is , we can't get our hands on it either way . But these last two , o forte and this one , have been very pleasant surprises . Hey , hats off man . They're doing stuff out there in the fragrance community , at least for designer fragrances .

Oh man , spice Bomb , dark Leather . I do not know what Victor and Rolf are doing on that one dude . Yeah , do they go on like a 20-day drinking binge and just like that's what they piss and they're just like , eh , that's pretty good . I don't know , that's shit Highly Didn't have any of the original DNA .

Smelled weak . Yeah , that was a letdown . This is not a letdown .
