¶ Revisiting Cologne Reviews - Personal Experiences
so I feel personally attacked from this latest episode , while you all were right on elysium hachavat , on the other hand . So this is one of the first ones I got last year when I started getting into fragrances a lot .
I got a sample of it a little decant , and uh , while I like the opening , the dry down is just wet dirt nastiness and I didn't know why anybody would want to smell like that . So it's just been sitting with all my other decants in the very back for almost a year now , and so I thought maybe my tastes have changed .
Maybe now that I've smelled a ton more fragrances hundreds literally I figured maybe it would be a little better . Maybe you all were right . So I sprayed a little bit . Good opening , dry down still sucks , so I don't know what the hell y'all are smelling . What's up ? Ladies and gentlemen , welcome to another episode of the Cologne podcast .

Nishane , it has been polarizing , to say the least . We first smelled Hasevat almost three years ago . Over three years ago , really Over three years ago , so over three years ago , when this podcast was just first starting , we had our little toy microphones .
We were taking baby steps at that time .
Yeah , I definitely sounded terrible back then , but , all to say , we started three years ago , over three years ago , and this was the fifth thing .
we ever smelled . Yeah , trailed behind really ripped abs by a bond man . We had that as episode four , then episode five was awesome .
And just so you guys know , mike bought a thing of just different bodmans , I believe , didn't you ? Uh-huh , I did , did we ?
ever do them again ? No , we didn't .
He was really obsessed with wanting to do the whole line , the whole line of bodman , and I'm going to tell you that one was garbage . But that first one we did was just I don't even know , oh man , it just smelled clean , I don't know . We . We should revisit that now .
Dude . My friend Rance went out and bought a bottle of it . He sent me a picture . He said , bro , and I put the goat yeah Of cheapies .
But but we smelled Hossabot . Then it was our first time taking it in and that was when we had it as a decant , which we still decant stuff . But that was a decant and we fucking loved it . We have loved it so much , so hard , we loved it hard .
Mike's even bought a bottle , yeah .
Well , I didn't buy a bottle . I bought a partial bottle . Okay , bought a partial bottle of it , but you've also had multiple travel atomizers of it too , yeah , well , decants , yeah . But so he's went through the gamut of really awareness and I've smelled one from time to time and it still smells amazing . We loved it .
We professed it to the world that we loved it . Every one of you that have smelled it have hated it .
That's right . You probably heard this episode start off with our friend jonathan bleep just letting us know exactly how we felt about it . So are we going to feel like Jonathan Bleep and Favort 42 on Fragrantica ? Favort 42 ? Favort Okay , favort , okay . Are we going to feel like them who said smells like a rotten pineapple In the first few minutes ?
It's fresh and interesting , a rounder version of Aventus , but ends up being very nauseating . I had really high expectations for this one , as I love Ani and Fan your Flames , but this one I just can't take .
I can't do it anymore .
So are we going to feel like them Jonathan Bleep and Favor , or are we going to still like them Jonathan bleep , in favor , or are we going to still love it like we did ?
I think we're going to fucking love it , because I've smelled it not too long ago . I felt like on you there's an earthiness that gets down in here We'll talk about it , but it's just . There's something about this fucking fragrance that I love or have loved .

. On episode five , I think we compared it too much to aventus . Yeah , I agree , as we tend to do with pineapple fragrances , you think of the pineapple king himself was ?

I don't know , I doubt we need to find that out . But that was , oh you deny . I mean that king has been dethroned by Insidious , which , if you're a Patreon , you're going to get a 100 mil bottle of that bad boy . We bought it with our own monies .

We'll pick a winner or win , I don't know . I was thinking we'd do a special episode for them where we actually take Aventus and verse it up against Insidious . We do a head-to-head bash .
I like the sound of that , yeah , okay , well , before we get into today's episode , we got to get into our ironically enough one-night stand review . Yeah , another Nishane fragrance , is it Credo ?

Well , Mike , after laying in bed blind , buying into this one night stand with Credo from Nation A yeah , I had to put my money down before I hopped in the sack and what'd you think ? I think it's great . I wore it on a walk a couple of times . You were like what's that ? And at first I thought you were going to go .
Was that dog shit that we just walked by ? I was worried . I said why , ryan ? He said because it smells so good , remember , mr Food .
I loved Mr Food . I loved Mr Food man . Was that just strictly to our demographic here ? No , I think it was syndicated . Okay , because yeah , I remember Mr Food . He was so cool , he was so good . Probably couldn't even make mac and cheese right , or something .
Yeah , dude , you know he's not cooking that shit rest in peace .
Um , I fucking loved it and I got two women to smell it .
Yeah , because after the episode you're like man , let me borrow this bottle please .
Yeah , and I took it to let them smell it and they both really fucking loved it .
That's the type of friendship we had . I was just like go ahead , my man , take your time with it . Didn't worry one bit . I didn't text him and go hey , man , are you gonna bring that bottle back to me ? I bought it back the same day .
Yeah , like that , but for me it does have this crazy honeysuckle vibe which we found out in the episode is osmanthus osmanthus .
So that's going to lead me down the road , I think yeah , I think we should really try to find that special osmanthus fragrance for you I think so , and I wore it that day .
I had to go to an sim with my kids were going through a little semi into school type thing , yeah , like it's not like graduation or anything but give it out awards and I wore it . Now look , nobody's probably gonna compliment me there , but I wore it smelled amazing .
I always love wearing it , but I will say now I don't get this vibe whenever I'll smell it on you . But I will say and I , and especially after I smelled on the other two women as well I feel like it might be a little feminine leaning , I don't know .
I don't know .
But I did not get that vibe when you wore we're walking together and it smelled fucking amazing .
Yeah , because my pheromones were really just kicking out Strong .
Masculine , his pheromones , overcompensate for any feminine fragrance . That's right .

You know he was wanting to be compensated . Yeah , I said , dude , we'll compensate you . And then the conversation dropped off after that and then he , he , freaking , bounced .
So I pressed all the buttons . All the music hit . You know what I'm starting to think ? We don't need todd anymore . Should we kill off todd huh ? What do you guys think ? Should we get rid of todd ?

I have to give some credit to some of these YouTubers that are doing these lives . You guys think they're just like I don't know . Yeah , they're dicking their hands , yeah , hiddling around .

I need to smell some more , but I will say I loved it , he loved it , two other people that I got to smell it , they loved it . I haven't had a bad reaction to it yet .
It is really good and , furthermore , I really think Nishanay has seriously . They've always brought us some pretty good fragrances .
They're badass . As far as fragrance houses go , I don't know that I can think of another fragrance house that really just has the gloves off swinging fucking fist around . Dude , they're windmilling fucking rooms . Dude , these guys are killing it . And I'll echo the same thing that you said . Even though I did buy it , it , I still think it's more of a sample .
You really gotta see if it's your vibe or not . I like the fragrance , yeah , but I still gotta wear it some more , yeah , because it's not exactly what I thought it was and it smells different on my skin than it does the tester . Do you have ?
regret blind buying it . No , no , I don't . Okay , I think that says a good point about it .
The fragrance is of quality , it smells great , but it's a little different than I experienced just on the card . So sometimes I wonder if I can wear it and pull it off , or am I going to have the situation that I would wear it to pull it off ? So that's more where I was telling everybody in the episode .
I was trying to replace Tom Ford's Oud Wood , which I have a travel atomizer of and I wear occasionally . But to me that gets so synthetic at the end it's not super strong , it doesn't last very long .
So looking for something in that vein that's stronger , that is a little bit more woodsy and piney this kind of promised that on the card , but whenever I got it on the skin it is a little warmer , it's got a little bit more earthy roundness to it . It's got some of that floral you were talking about .
So yeah , I still got to sample it and I would recommend you guys do the same . Don't ever blind by , okay , do as I say not as I do . I learned it from you , mike . I learned it by watching you with .
That said , let's get into our scent of the day . We're revisiting that 2017 classic hasavat by nishane here you go , my friend do you mind if I kind of lace up with ?

And so me and ryan sent a video back that said I like to point the atomizer backwards because sometimes you accidentally like let your finger hang over the atomizer and it'll create , like this drip that goes down the bottle , a little drippy tip , yeah , and I don't want to like ruin the .
You know , yeah , I got you , so I like to , you know , dribble on the back end , I like to turn it over and dribble on it .
Yeah , I will say out , the gate does not smell like what I remember .

for it . Okay , bringing up our late friend Forbis RIP my man . Yes , sir , we used to do and we've done a couple in his honor now . We used to do crawfish boils've done a couple in his honor now . We used to do crawfish boils over at his mom's house .
Okay , and him and our friend Jacob would do this thing where you boil the crawfish and you're boiling it in like this Cajun seasoning . You throw the potatoes and the mushrooms and all that stuff in , but they would also like to throw in pineapple spears . That gets kind of like that cajuny spicy . So it's got this sweetness , it's got the spiciness to it .
I'm with you and that's kind of what this reminds me of , which actually kind of makes me love it even more now , really , because now I have like a scent memory to it . That's cool , hmm .
So it's like this spicy earthy pineapple and what's kind of crazy is in my head . I remember this being way more pineapple like , kind of like similar to a ventus . Yes , uh-huh , but I'm not getting that now and I feel like I'm getting straight to the earthiness part that I've loved in the past .
Right , yeah , that's one thing . It comes out smelling like a pineapple mushroom . To me like immediately .
Hmm that's actually uh , don't know if I like that , but that's actually pretty accurate right now . That may sway me a little bit on this in the wrong direction .
Well , yeah , I think that's the problem that a lot of people had with it was that earthiness that in episode five we didn't know , know this . But we kept saying , oh , it's got to be the oak moss , right . But then we did a single note show on oak moss and to us oak moss didn't smell super earthy , it was actually kind of sweet and spicy .
It was almost like a sweeter version of like what vetiver smelled like .
Yeah , and I'm going to say something that I think you're going to actually tell me that I'm crazy . But is it just me , or on the tester strip Does it kind of smell like a dreamsicle ? Okay , let me try this .
Hmm .
Am I crazy ? Yeah , I think you're crazy . I feel like that's all .
I can smell right now . I get what you're saying , though it does have a sweet citrus to it that you could almost mistake for an orange on the card that is so weird .
This thing is wild . This is not how I remember it . Do you think the friends of the podcast , the many listeners that are written in and left voicemails , do you think they're right about this ? Do you think they're right about this ? Do you think we were wrong ? Do you think we were just blinded by the fact we never smelled anything as intricate ?
I mean , it was episode fucking five . We were , yeah . To say novice would be an understatement .
I think we're blinded by a couple of things . To answer your question first yes , I do think we were a little infatuated with the fragrance , on two reasons . One I know for me , I had recently watched a video by the perfume guy Back then it was like smelling great fragrance reviews or something . Sebastian , you guys know him .
Yeah , he did an Ashani episode video , whatever you want to call it , and he was going crazy about this and how great it smelled . Follow that up with . We watched actually a video by TLTG and he was going crazy about this and how great it smelled . Yeah , follow that up with .
We watched actually a video by TLTG and he was talking about this fragrance and he had this line that he said that I think imprinted in both of our brains . Yeah , he said I know what you're going to say my boss wears Aventus and his boss wears Haas Avant , which ?
is a cool line .
It's a great line . It's basically like your boss's boss smells like this shit , yeah , and so when your mind is framed that way and then you go into smelling it , then you go oh yeah , this does have some fucking badass balls to it .
Got some clackers you know , I mean , I mean I will say this that day because I remember this . That day when we did the episode , we ended up going to town . We went grocery shopping a little bit and you were in a separate line but there was a lady losing her shit on you ?
Yeah , she really did . She said is that Ralph Lauren ? You know one of these southern bells down here ? And I said said no , it's called hashivat she loved it .
I'm like I like it still , but it's not what I remember and so I feel like I'm not liking as much . It is the strangest fucking thing revisiting some of these fragrances . Man for sure . Yeah , so I . This is part of a collection , by the way , the shadow play collection . There's like three other fragrances .
This is the only one that really stood out , but the perfumer is jorge lee , which was a chef or he was into cooking , oh okay , so he loved the idea of spices , stuff , like , like that .
You know , I feel like that translates a lot . There's a lot of people who start off in the culinary area of it and then move over into fragrances .
Yeah , our friend Mo did that from Kajal . That's right , man , I just so . I guess there's something linked to that . I mean , it makes sense , because sometimes I feel like you can taste things you smell . You know what I'm saying . Sense , because sometimes I feel like you can taste things you smell , you know . Oh , yeah , for sure .
But um , but yeah , this guy he did wool on shaw . Uh , fan your flames . Ombre colabra , which , now that I'm smelling this , has a little similar dna to me , to ombre colabra a little bit . Hmm , a little bit , it's a little bit .
Uh , I'll go there with you , but I don't know if you're right god , all I smell in a tester strip is dreamsicle , and I'm not a fan of dreamsicles in my life , but there is something kind of nice about this , oh , on the card , the card in the skin , and this is probably why I I've been like leaning more against using tester strips and more just kind of
smelling on the skin because it's so different sometimes .
Yeah , this fragrance could not be more different . No , on the tester strip versus the skin because you're right , it's very sweet on the tester strip and very earthy and kind of like has a bite to it on the skin I prefer the skin personally . Well , now that you're saying I'm getting the dreamsicle , now you are .
And I like it . That's what I'm saying . It does kind of smell like dreamsicle . Now that's the weirdest shit . I really haven't even got hardly any pineapple for this . Go round of it , yeah .
Which people have said that the different formulations they make some changes . Actually , one review in Fragrantica said if Sebastian were to get his hands on this new formulation , he'd roll over in his YouTube masturbatorium . Is that what they said ? Something like that .
By the way , to kind of cover the notes really quick top notes are pineapple , grapefruit , bergamot I don't know if I get hardly any of that in the opening . Middle notes are cedar , patchouli , jasmine . Base notes are oat , moss and woody notes . I feel like I I feel like this is probably for me more the base notes than anything right now .
Hmm , I don't know why it's strange .
It is beautiful on the card , but that doesn't mean jack shit , jack shit . It really is , god . I don't get into that dream cycle . It's pretty . Maybe that's why it's such an experience smelling it on someone else , because , depending on how you spray , you get some on your clothes , you get some on your skin .
Those two differences yeah , marry in the air , yeah , and then you just have a walking cloud of whatever the hell . This is All right .
Well , while we try to figure out for the listeners whether or not we were wrong in episode five , I think we need to hip them to the Price and Trend ride well guys , price 50 ml is like 280 bucks , 100 ml is 390 dollars .
You can get on discounters for like 100 and between 130 150 and the trend is through the fucking atmosphere . It started off slow but that thing has jumped and jumped and it is seriously fucking popular is it because of people like us ?

I don't think so , because it really hasn't been , like you know , put up on a pedestal in a long time . I mean , hell , three years ago was kind of the peak . I remember kind of hearing about it . Yeah , that's true , and I mean we've smelled it off and on you know you wearing it , but it's like I we haven't really talked .
Well , I guess we have talked about it quite a bit on this podcast over the years . It's been brought up a few times , but I don't think it's that I generally think this thing has found some new popularity . But I am gonna say I feel like I'm siding more with the listeners who have kind of been like what the fuck is this ? Because it's kind of strange .
Now it's different , for sure . It's not what I remember in the slightest , by the way no , I could feel that immediately after I bought the partial .
Yeah , I feel like , and guys , you'll probably kill us because we've basically built this whole podcast on sampling but I do feel like at times when you decant something and it sits in that decant for a little while , it does change slightly compared to what you get right out of the atomizer of the bottle .
I feel like they're sealed differently , a little bit better in the bottle .
Maybe We've tried to do a good job of using Teflon tape and stuff like that to really get a good seal on them , and I think if you get through a reputable decanting site , they do the same . So you do the best you can , but there is still a tiny compromise you make whenever you do .
That may not be crazy , especially depending on the fragrance , but I think of my time sampling this through decants and then buying the bottle . It is slightly different . You can blame it on reformations , you can whatever you want to say about it , but I knew the first time that I sprayed this out of this bottle it was a little different .
It's not exactly what I was remembering . It was a little earthier , had a little bit more , you know , satchel to it . Yeah , not bad , though every time I've wore it I've enjoyed it . Yeah , you know , but I think we fall in love with that pineapple note and and then we just want all the pineapples .
Yeah , and you know , you just smell pineapple straight up in person After a minute it kind of gets a little Nauseating . Yeah , because it's so overly sweet . Yeah , Okay , now that we've smelled it quite a bit here and we're taking it in for the second time on the show quite a bit here and we're taking in for the second time on the show .
Tltg has said this is what your boss's boss wears , as we alluded to earlier . Do you agree with that still , or who do you think's really wearing this ?
I would agree with that . Okay , I think somebody that wants to assert dominance , I think it's that type of fragrance . Okay , look , it doesn't have to be completely palatable to be a good fragrance , especially if you want to exert some sort of vibe , good call , and so the earthiness on this . It's a dominating fragrance . It is when you get it .
There's something a little abrasive about it . It's not bad , but it is abrasive , and I think that's partly why I still enjoyed wearing it . And liking it is that it does say something , then it does . I'm not the type of guy to be like you want to fucking do something about it . I'm not that type of guy . You know what I mean .
But I feel like this fragrance is kind of like that .
Yeah , sorry , I'm just around this guy too much to see him try to even pretend like he's like a fucking prick in a bar . It's just kind of hilarious .

I think so . I think this is a skip . I think I'm going to have to deliver that bad news . I can't believe I was . So is a skip . I think I'm going to have to deliver that bad news . I can't believe I was so horny about it five episodes in . But apparently when I was a young warthog I apparently love shit like this .
But I mean it does smell good , it smells really good actually . But it is not my bag , baby . I don't think I could fucking wear this well , I'm gonna show you .
My answer is because I bought this as a partial okay and it probably at the time it's a 50 mil bottle . I think the person said it had like approximately 35 mil left and if you look at the juice , wow , yeah , almost half is in there , so you've so yeah .
So I've probably wore 10 to 12 mil of it since I've had it and I've had it for a while one because it is that sort of like you're gonna fucking do something about it . Yeah type fragrance . So that's just not me or my personality , so I don't wear it a lot .
I do wear it some and when I do wear it you've complimented it or other people will compliment it . It does have nice things about it , but I have a feeling , one that this bottle will last me for fucking ever . But I don't know if I would buy another bottle after this is done . I don't think you're going to . I don't think so either .

Man looks like some shit you buy , like for cleaning windows yeah , yeah , we were still calling this shit cologne versations god man , is that not fucking wild ? It is so wild . What a weird journey . I still think it's such a weird journey .
Yeah , for sure , we have thousands of you that just listen to this show and when we started we had our two downloads plus two other people on episode five . So fucking weird Two listeners . We had two listeners at the time so fucking weird dude . And now listeners at the time so fucking weird dude .
And now we have tens of millions I wish but yeah , it's crazy , you guys were right on this , okay absolutely , I'm gonna have to tip my head off to the listeners first . I'm sorry that we went so fucking slurpy on it and episode five , and some of you bought full bottles and have been pissed off at us ever since , but you know what ?

You know probably why I also still enjoy wearing it from time to time is I've . I've mentioned before , I don't really spray fragrances on my body as much these days , mostly on my , my clothing .
So I feel like I do kind of get like more of that tester strip vibe , which is probably a sweeter , more citrusy version it's nice , but it it ain't as nice as I remember .

sample reviewers no , because , fuck , I mean I go into a store and get they spray me like one spray or something on something , and then they expect you to buy it after that . Yeah , so the fuck out with that shit , I don't know .
I mean , I think I do think you need to learn to wear stuff a good while , which we have generally gotten pretty decent sized decants to get good wear out of them , yeah , and we're really wanting to try it out and shit . So no , I just think it's our novice noses smelling one thing . It's kind of like Aventus , I mean same thing with actually Aventus .
You and I both love Aventus and you got real Aventus and you were at one point you said , man , I can't spray it anymore , it makes me sick .
Yeah , you go through phases . Yeah , doesn't mean I don't like it , but I did get to where I was like it'd be like , if you love steak , but then all you can eat is steak , yeah . And then after a while you go . God , I'd give anything for just like a chicken strip , exactly .
I mean , we hated most ravager . A year later , we love most ravager . I mean just , it's going to happen . But yeah , I feel like we were wrong on this one , though for sure , I think we're wrong on being so slurpy .
