In part 1 of this two part episode of the Chillbillies Podcast, we sit down with WYMT/ESPN alumnus, Jay Crawford. In this wide ranging discussion, Jay discusses his time at WYMT and living in Hazard. Jay talks affectionately about one of his single greatest friends and mentors in the business, former Morehead ST basketball coach and WYMT/WKYT General Manager, Wayne Martin.
Jay breaks down his time at ESPN and the financial analysis that has lead to the several rounds of layoffs experienced at the world wide leader in sports. We also spent an odd amount of time talking about Richie Farmer and Jay’s belief that somebody needs to do a movie about that guy…which we said we would do.
