You may be listening on this Tuesday, February 17th, 2026. We welcome you into the program. Glad to have you with us today on the show as

Yeah, today's the first day. First day of early voting today. Not a lot of folks out here in Lobbock voting today. Not Uh it's it's n it's not a well, it it as they used to say a chamber of commerce type day. It's just It's uh it's windy, you've got dust flying all the way around. Uh up y up it all the way to the panhandle. It's just windy and nasty.

And uh not a lot of fun to get out into. And so a lot of people just kinda Yeah, I don't know just stay home. Just uh if I don't have to get out and vote today, I'm good. I I'm fine, I'm good, I don't have to Go to uh you know you know, go to uh go to the store, don't have to do any of that. I can just stay home. and uh cast my uh my ballot some uh some other time. And so a lot of people stay at home today.

And uh not voting. Of course you have the all the candidates, they're all over Facebook and uh in and Twitter telling you to get out and vote. That's what they should be doing. I'm telling you.

Just wait a little bit. It's okay. You don't have to get out and vote yet. Uh what I what I do want is for more people to be Uh to to know who all the candidates are, to know who all the candidates are to go through the ballot, up and down the ballot, and I still think some of these races are g going to get a little spicier.

out there and uh you may learn a thing or two about some of these uh candidates as we get closer to election day. And I know my me myself, I will I will not be casting a ballot until at least next week. I know that. And so uh that's just uh that that's where I've come down on it. Uh and then so uh we'll we'll talk about it. We'll talk about it throughout the program today. We've got uh Senator John Cornet.

Episode Preview and Political Controversies

Scheduled to join us. Coming up at five thirty five this evening. Uh we also have a lot of uh news in that Senate race to talk about today. Lots of stuff uh coming out in that Senate race on the uh Republican and Democrat side. Jasmine Crockett's out. Criticizing uh the the packs that are backing James Talarico, saying that they're racist because they question a black woman. And whether she is uh the right person to serve in the US Senate. So we'll talk about that because everything

again is racist, uh, according to Jasmine Crockett. So we've got that uh to uh to talk about today. We've got uh the a uh story out of Lubbock that we'll talk about uh when it comes to a uh a a building That has uh been in uh making its way around the news, uh, on the Twitterverse and in other places. Uh we'll we'll talk about it uh uh coming up at around six oh five this evening. Uh we've also got uh Democrats

pledging millions and millions of dollars to turn Texas blue. This is not a rinse and repeat of a couple of years ago when they pledged the exact same thing, but we'll uh get into it. And then oh boy. Stephen Colbert, I think he's been caught in a lie. Stephen Colbert's been caught in a lie, it appears, as uh he has been going around telling everybody that CBS

CBS and the FCC worked against him, prevented him from airing a uh an interview with James Tallerico. And now CBS comes out and goes, We never said you couldn't air it. We just said, Hey, if you're gonna do it, remember w we we you you're gonna have to if Jasmine Crockett calls you up and asks for equal time, you're gonna have to do it. You're gonna have to. And so, uh, yeah, Stephen Colbert looks like he's been caught in a lie, but he was able to fire up the Democrats just a little bit.

uh today. He and James Talarico pulling over a a stunt on a few folks. So we've got that to talk about.

And uh of course we want to hear from you on all the issues of the day. Anything that you would like to talk about, feel free to Uh give us a call. That's at Chad Hasty Radio on social media that includes at and Instagram and Facebook. And yes, the old fashioned way of doing things, it's by picking up the phone and dialing in at one-eight hundred-six eight seven zero seven ninety. That's one-eight hundred-six eight seven.

zero seven ninety. The first voice you hear from when you dial in today, a guy who is not a fan of the the dust blowing in the air, it's uh it's our good buddy Nick. Nick, how you doing today? Uh doing well. Yeah, you're right. Uh not a fan. In general. And you know what? Is anybody is anybody a fan? You know, I think you have some out there who like to pretend they are and they go, you know what, this is what gives us that West Texas grit. Literally.

Away. Well it didn't keep Nick away. I was not deterred. And uh and he's he's still here. I can confirm he is after many efforts uh he is still well he tried to get him deported. He's not, he's still here. And uh and he's not going away. But I I s I still think even The the grittiest of grit uh looks and goes, Ah, I'm good. I'm fine not having days like this to Yeah, well it's also a good excuse, you know, to uh stay home, not do what you're supposed to do, not go out, as you said earlier. Yeah.

Yeah, that's true. That's true. It's uh it just and I didn't think many people would get out and vote today. I just I had a feeling that that wasn't gonna happen. And uh we're we're seeing it. We're seeing uh a lot of people just

Don Huffines and Jeffrey Epstein Ranch

Again, they're undecided. They don't know who they're gonna vote for in some uh of these different races. So let's see. We already have a uh text in. Let's see, Kendra weighed in. Chad, did you hear anything about this uh I think you mean uh Don Huffines buying property from the Jeffrey Epstein estate? Is there something that you can Google?

I I we talked about this yesterday actually. It was at the very end of the show. Uh you may have missed it, Kendra. Uh the story came out over the weekend that uh Don Huffeins, he's running for Texas Compt Troller. That uh his family had purchased the Zorro Ranch near Santa Fe, New Mexico, or in somewhere in New Mexico.

And it used to belong to Jeffrey Epstein. Years and years ago it used to belong to uh Jeffrey Epstein and then it went into uh the Epstein estate and uh the the the Huffeins family, they went and bought it. The Hufflines family, that's part of their d they they buy land. They they buy m massive amounts of land uh when they can find it. That's that's just something that they do. They have the money to do it.

Uh, this doesn't mean that Don Huffins was hanging out with Jeffrey Epstein. No, no. That's nowhere I there I think there were some bad actors who were trying to allege that oh Look at this. Uh Hephees was buying this property from Epstein and uh that used to belong to Epstate, you know, you never know. You never know where were the two hanging out? No. No. Uh there's no there there's no indication whatsoever that Donna Fines was hanging out with Jeffrey upstairs.

Let me also say that, and this is this is part of the issue with not releasing the full Epstein files, by the way, is that Jeffrey Epstein, not so much here in Texas. But in DC and in LA, he knew a lot of people. It doesn't mean that everyone who knew him, that everyone who met him is a pedophile. But he knew a lot of people. He was in Hollywood circles. He was in finance circles. He was in uh political circles. He was in all the circles that were out there in the uh among the power players.

Doesn't mean that everyone in those circles who knew him, uh, was also uh you know, guilty of anything. But that is part of the you know problem when you release just little leaks of information and we don't get the whole story about this. Now back to the real quick and I know we gotta take the break, but real quick, back to the the uh Uh Don Huffine's thing, his family bought this property.

And it's taken years to go through the process of actually buying it. Data came out yesterday from uh current revolt. Uh they have emails now. showing that some of the victims who apparently were at uh this ranch. They had wanted to get financial restitution or whatever from the sale of this rant. And there were people in Texas accusing Huffides of not paying you know, uh of not doing that, of not uh helping out these victims. That's all uh that's all been proved to be BS.

Uh because money that w actually went towards the sale. of the ranch did go to the victim. And there are emails from victims stating that yes, they had received a a financial settlement or whatever from the cell of the ranch that was up during a I think it was during a uh Um uh uh like in a like an estate cell type deal. And so part of the cell

Like just a normal sale. The m part of that money went towards these victims who were out there. And the Huffines family has said, Yes, look, if you wanna there there's been these rumors there might be uh dead bodies. buried on this ranch. Nobody knows if that's true. It's been out it's been alleged that there are bodies on this ranch. Nobody knows.

Uh but the Hellfinds families come out and said, Well, if you want to look, look, go. Please. You know, please go and search uh this uh th this ranch when you want to. They have no problem. uh with that. But I there I think there were some bad actors who over the weekend really wanted to turn this into something that was really bad.

Um and again, this is why you don't just react to something when the news comes out. You just you don't go, oh, well, he must be re he he must be it, you know, it connected to Epstein. Wait a minute. Let's see what information comes out. You gotta be careful with it.

With political season and these political hits you do, some information's gonna be right, some information's gonna be wrong. Um but but overall, if if you're a fan of Don Huff Fines and you're you're planning on voting for him, You you should feel free to vote for him uh in and have a a a clean conscience that he is not connected to Jeffrey Epstein, at least from anything. That I and others have seen, he is not connected to uh Epstein at all. Did he buy the ranch? Yeah. He bought the ranch.

Uh but it it's his family goes around. They buy a lot of a lot of land that's out there. Uh eight zero six six eight zero two seven nine zero. When we come back, your phone calls, your text. Republican Primary Ballot Propositions

Two seven nine zero. You can uh weigh in, sound off on Uh any of the uh topics, any of the issues that you uh may want to get into. Uh by the way, on your ballot. If you're voting in the Republican primary, you're going to find uh different propositions on your ballot. Now remember, the propositions, they do not change the state law.

Party insiders and those who attend the state convention, hey, here's what uh Republican voters are feeling. Here's what they were voting for in the primary. Sometimes it matters. Sometimes it really doesn't matter, sometimes it takes years to matter. But you should still vote uh on these propositions and and vote in you know how you feel. Uh you've got proposition one, Texas property taxes should be assessed at the purchase price and phased out entirely over the next

Six years through spending reductions. Proposition two, Texas should require any local government budget that raises property taxes to be approved by voters at a November general election. Uh Prop three, Texas should prohibit denial of health care or any medical service based solely on the patient's vaccination status.

Uh number four, Texas should require its public schools to teach that life begins and federalization. Number five, Texas should ban gender, sexuality, and reproductive clinics and services in K through twelve schools. Uh let's see. Number six, Texas should enact term limits on all elected officials. Yeah, good luck on that. Good luck! Uh Prop seven, Texas should ban the large scale export or sell of our groundwater and surface water to any single private or public entity.

Uh Proposition 8, the Texas legislature shall reduce the burden of illegal immigration on taxpayers by ending public services for illegal immigrants. Drop nine. Republican controlled Texas legislature should stop awarding leadership positions, including committee and subcommittee chairmanships and vice chairmanships to Democrats. And uh number ten, uh Texas should prohibit Sharia law. So that's the thing. I have a feeling number ten's gonna pass pretty easily. I don't know.

Just uh sneaky well sneaky suspicion that that one's gonna pass pretty easily. They're all probably gonna pass. They pretty much always do. Yeah, uh again, these are yeah, they doesn't change anything. Doesn't change any state law this is for uh, you know, uh for the convention and for uh Republicans to look at going into the upcoming uh legislative session. There there'll be

Uh pressure d you know, if if like number what was that number? Uh prop nine passes Uh you'll have uh Republicans who uh who look at the speaker and go, Hey, hey, Texans uh said you shouldn't appoint uh any uh Democrats to uh chairmanships or vice chairmanships, uh to any committee or subcommittees.

And so, uh, not that that's been you know, the especially the subcommittees, that that hasn't been the problem, uh down in Austin. But uh that's it it's it's one of those talking points that gets out there from uh from time to time. So again, you'll be able to uh vote on those whenever you uh head to the polls. When we come back, scheduled a visit with uh Senator John Cornyn here on the show. Looking forward to that conversation.

Senator Cornyn's Re-election Pitch

Has begun in the Lone Star State. Over the next couple of weeks, you'll be able to get out and vote, to cast your ballot. in a uh a number of elections, a number of contests uh that uh that's on your on your ballot uh that you'll be able to uh choose from. That's why I say remember you go through the ballot, get your sample ballot, look at all the different races. We've had a ton of candidates on the show. You can go back we still will, by the way, over the next two weeks.

Uh you can go back through, listen to some interviews. Listen to the interviews today uh that we'll have on the program, including with our next guest, the uh senior senator from the great state of Texas. And uh he he wants to stay the senior senator uh of the great state of Texas. Senator John Cornyn joins us here on the Chat East D show. Welcome back, Senator. How are you today? I'm good, Chad. You had a great day and uh

in Austin and uh San Antonio uh trying to get the vote out and heading to Fort Worth tomorrow. All right, very good. Well we appreciate you uh taking some time to to join us here on the program. What is your I i I I guess it's I don't want to call it the the the final pitch to the voters'cause again I think this thing's gonna be going to a runoff anyway, but Uh I I guess the the final pitch to voters i heading into this primary, uh what is it fr from you? Why should voters send you back?

Well, unless you want to risk uh President Trump's uh legislative agenda and risk uh Texas uh losing the first statewide See uh since nineteen ninety four. Um I have the best chance to to win and uh hold the seat and also to win by a sufficient margin to help with down ballot races. I know President Trump cares a lot about keeping the House majority.

especially these five new congressional seats that have were recently redrawn. And um twenty twenty I won by ten points, uh which helps all the down ballot race. If Ken Pax is the nominee, uh there's a risk of him losing and uh also a risk if that if even if he were successful in winning that uh it would uh not be by a sufficient margin to help with these downbound races. So uh that's uh that's part of the pitch. The other is I just don't think

Voters can trust Ken Paxton. He lied to the taxpayers, he lied to his only senior staff, he lied to his own family. Why in the world would people think they can trust him? When it when it comes to uh the the the idea that uh Paxton would would would cause losses for down ballot races that he himself could lose. Uh to me, if if I were Trump, uh I'm not, but if I were Trump, I'd be very concerned about that. He doesn't sound concerned about that, not yet anyway. Wow.

President Trump's a pretty cool customer. He also appreciates a good fight. And uh he didn't get to where he was by anybody sort of uh uh waving him in. Uh so you know, he's also got friends. Um he said all three of us are friends. of his. And so um he probably isn't all that anxious to weigh in to a uh three way race where he's gonna disappoint two thirds

of uh of his supporters and uh two thirds of his friends. So uh I respect the president's right to make the decision when and if he's ready to make it. In the meantime we're not waiting around. Okay.

Cornyn Clarifies Gun Vote and Red Flag Laws

Uh w when it comes to and and again, this is this is the thing that Uh I keep hearing from listeners who uh who say that they're not going to vote for you. This is the thing that listeners who are on the fence, they they they they still go back to that gun vote, uh to the Second Amendment vote. uh that uh in y in your piece of legislation on that as a reason why they can vote for you. Uh re d talk to them. Why why should they feel comfortable with you after Trump is out of office?

Well, there's been a lot of misrepresentation about what that entailed. Uh that basically was an extension of the background checks to include uh juvenile records. You know, uh to me I thought it was a consensus position we should keep guns out of the hands of people who are mentally ill. And uh criminals. And that's all that bill did. It did not deny any law any law abiding um uh Texan uh access to a firearm.

But it also made a huge investment in community based mental health care and hardened our schools to keep our kids safe. So this has been frankly misrepresented, but uh that's that's what it did. Uh what about the the concern over red flag laws? And I know it didn't it didn't include where you have to do red flag laws, but there was a provision that Uh I I I guess what? Extra money could be coming to your state if you expanded red flag laws.

Well no, it really it didn't you're right, it did not uh pass a national red flag law. We don't have one in Texas, I don't expect we ever will. What we do have is veterans' courts, mental health courts and other interventions and I wanted to make sure that Texas got its fair share to be able to intervene and th for example with people in mental health crisis. Um other states like Florida uh have red flag laws um and they got some of the money, but we also made sure that only

in the event that uh due process was protected. Obviously we're talking about a constitutional right. here and something I think people are justly skeptical uh could be used weaponized against them. And so we said for those places that do have it, like states like Florida uh that they have to meet the heightened due process protection. So again, thanks for asking about it. I think there's just uh this is an area where there's been a lot of misinformation out there. So I'm glad to clear that up.

AI, Data Centers, and Texas Energy Grid

Let me ask you something that and I don't I don't know if it's really been talked about a lot in this race, uh, and that comes down to AI and the future of AI and data centers. What role, if any, should the Senate take as far as regulation, as far as dealing with the future of AI, where it's going and what impacts it could have on the workforce in the future?

Well, great question. I was out in Abilene a few months ago where they're building six what, six thousand construction workers building one of the largest data centers in in the c country. Uh AI is in the future and of course uh what that means in terms of workforce development, we need more people who can build things. uh welders, HVAC mechanics. Um diesel truck mechanics Like

because if you live in the digital world it's likely to uh it's likely to uh uh replace you with uh this incredible technology. But I think, you know, one of the concerns that I have is we not see electricity rates, for example. go up for Texas consumers because of the incredible demand these data centers are going to uh to to make on our existing grid. So I think it's really important that all of these data centers have an independent source of

of energy production. Uh and of course, as you know, uh small modular reactors, nuclear reactors are in our future. But the main reason they're being built in Texas and being places places like uh Amarillo is because uh because of the affordable energy. Uh but we got we have to be uh uh po vigilant to make sure that this doesn't disadvantage uh consumers.

Campaign Doxing of Wesley Hunt

Yeah. Uh visiting with Senator John Cornyn and uh g going back to the campaign And uh I I I guess a little bit of inside baseball, a little uh, you know, some of these uh attack ads that are going on out there. Uh I I you know, the uh the campaign your campaign the other day uh put out a tweet or X or whatever we're called'em uh these days going after Wesley Hunt. Uh Wesley Hunt claims that you were do that the campaign doxxed him, uh, because the uh pictures included

uh I guess the the last four of his social security number, uh it included his home address and I think his I ID. Uh the the the Paxton camp uh also uh said that uh that that your campaign was wrong to put that information out there. Uh what what what's your response to to both of those campaigns? It's a public record.

And what it showed is that uh Wesley Hunt lied about being uh registered to vote back in two thousand sixteen and claimed that the uh the reason his provisional ballot should be accounted is because he had separated from the military, uh uh uh p recently when in truth it was four years ago. So this to me it's it's a uh obviously if it's a public record then there's no no harm in releasing

information that's already in the public domain. So I think there's nothing to it. Okay. And and so uh just a Claire'cause uh the passion campaign says that you owe Wesley Hunt an apology. I don't hear one. I don't see see one coming. I guess you disagree with that.

Uh yeah. Don't wait don't wait on it. It's not coming. All right. Uh uh Senator Corny, uh as always, appreciate your time. I know you're gonna be uh craw crisscrossing all over the uh the state of Texas over the next He's uh he's taken a tour. He was hanging out. I don't know if he was on the river walk today or not. It's not a bad place to be. He went to Austin, went to San Antonio, on his way to Fort Worthdale. We'll be right back. The Chad Hasty

Would you want your social security number, the last four linked? I don't know if anybody who wants the last four of their social security or their ID I don't care if it's public record or not. Again, uh I know I know it's politics, it's dirty Uh Wesley Hunt's a good guy. I know he's you know, uh for a campaign that goes out there and says that Wesley Hunt doesn't mean anything.

W which has been the position of the John Corning campaign that Wesley Hunt is not a player, that Wesley Hyde is unimportant, that Wesley Hunt he's not even worth debating, but he's worth doxing. He's not worth getting on a debate stage with that actually hashing out the issue. But when it comes to actually putting out his home address, well yeah, he's worth that. That's fine. It's not a big deal.

Amen. I I I I think sometimes and again I I saw a tweet earlier from uh the uh speaker, Dustin Burrow. Who said, you know, hey, look, y go out and vote who you want to vote for, all this kind of stuff. Vote go out and vote who you want to vote. You kinda forget that, oh yeah, we have to get back together as a team later. Oh yeah, oh yeah. Oh yeah, we have to get back together and all, you know, do the Kumbaya thing. Has filed a police report against uh the Corning campaign staffer over alleged family doxing incident. That's gonna be an uphill battle. uh just because you gotta prove that uh it was a real doxing event and and everything else. That that's why the courting camp uh is saying and they're they're they're rightly so. They're they're saying that, well this is a public document. Doesn't mean it was right. You know, there that doesn't mean it was right to do. Again, I don't think that

uh anybody would want their family's address posted on on social media. I mean, it's one thing to say, well, that's all public record anyway. Yeah, but you gotta m uh i if someone who's crazy out there wants to go and try to look that stuff up, they gotta take time to actually look that stuff up. Don't just hand it to'em. Well we've we've seen some bad things uh uh i in in politics over the last couple of years. Let's not let's not amp it up any, okay?

Uh I'll put and I g I wanna I wanna preface this by saying I don't buy it. I don't believe this, but the idea is that Paxton is so uh so toxic that suburban women would be either very turned off and they would not vote for Ken Paxton and they would just stay home. They wouldn't go and vote at all. Or that the Republicans would have to spend so much money. Defending Paxton. That they could not spend that money on other races that are downbound.

Uh Rick Peary says his political group will spend quote whatever we need to support Corny.

in the Senate primary, stumping with Cornyn in Austin on Tuesday, former Texas Governor Rick Perry said the political group that he chairs, the Lone Star Freedom Project Would spend quote whatever we need to to see Cornyn through his uh bruising Republican primary on top of the almost eighteen million that it has spent already on his behalf.

Cornyn, who is serving his fourth term in the US Senate battling to keep a seat against challenges from Attorney General Ken Paxton and US rep Wesley Hunt of Houston. in a contest that looks destined to go to a May runoff.

Outside groups, including the Senate Republican leadership and corn and zone fundraising committees have spent tens of millions of dollars To support the incumbent Senator and attack his GOP rivals, the Senate race in Texas became the second most expensive in the nation on Tuesday, according to Ad Impact, with ninety eight point two million.

In total ad spending, some three quarters of the cash on the GOP side has come from pro corn and sources. Yet recent public bowling has shown Paxton leading the contest. Perry's group has spent more uh than all but other uh one other group among Corny's several outside backers who along with the Senators campaign has dropped nearly sixty million dollars on the race. The former governor made clear that he would continue into the runoff if Cornyn makes it past the March third election.

Quote, we're committed to John. We will spend whatever we need to spend for him to be f successful, Perry said, when asked if he thought that level of fundraising and spending would continue.

Recently Paxton arguing that his campaign and the that Corning is a relic of the establishment GOP and ideologically out of step with Trump and the MAGA movement, the third term attorney general has uh long trailed my list of uh or uh been trailed by a long list of legal and ethical woes, including securities fraud charges and impeachments by the GOP controlled Texas House on bribery and abuse of office allegations, from which he emerged largely unscathed.

Most recently, Paxton's wife, Senator Angela Paxton, filed for divorce on quote biblical grounds after she accused him of cheating on her. In a statement, Paxton advisor Nick Baddock said character matters in this race. That's why the people of Texas overwhelmingly support Ken Paxton. They know that he is a conservative warrior who will always fight for us and our freedoms, even in the face of the left, trying to tear him down.

Maddox claimed that uh added that Corny is like every other career politician who talks tough during election season then has the exact opposite in DC Now uh another story that's popped up this afternoon on this race. Uh, this side of the hill, John Fetterman says he doesn't know why Trump and the GOP aren't l uh working to lock down Texas.

Senator John Fetterman, Democrat out of Pennsylvania, questioned why Trump and other GOP lawmakers haven't locked down that Texas Senate race with endorsements. In the three way primary. Fetterman says he thinks his uh party can regain control of the House, but argued the battle to retake the Senate majority will be an uphill uh battle during an appearance on uh Fox Business. He argued that Trump and the GOP are putting Texas in play by not backing John Corny.

Quote I mean, as you point out, the margin's very close. There's always history that tells us there's a backlash against the party in power, so I think people would have to assume that the house is going to flip. You have other races in play. For me, for Texas, for example, Cornyn is a reasonable Republican.

And now that would uh that m would be money in the bank, but I don't know why politically I'm not sure why the Republicans and the President wouldn't sit on that and just lock down Texas. But for me, there's other states that are in flux. So you got John Fetterman, who might be the best Democrat out there. I I gotta be honest, he might be the best Democrat in the in the Senate. The Democrats hate him.

You know, he's uh a little too a little too uh moderate for their taste, uh among the uh the among the Democrats. But now you got John Fetterman coming out. I don't know if he's doing uh John Cornyn any favors or not here by saying, you know, he's one of these reasonable Republicans. We all like him. Oh, he's Democrats, we all like him.

Yeah, if I if I'm Wesley Hunt, if I'm uh Ken Paxton, I'm I'm taking I'm taking that uh that quote out there going, Look, the Democrats wanna win. I know they want John Cornyn to win this. eight zero six six eight zero two seven nine zero. You can send in your thoughts on the uh on the text line.

Lubbock Muslim Unity Center Story

A uh another story that people have uh Oh they've asked me about a few uh a few different times here uh over social media. Yeah, headline from the uh Lubbock AJ. They did a story about this. Texas Tech student bought abandoned school to create the Unity Center. Have you heard about this? Those of you in in Lubbock? Now they call this a global effort that grew from a viral Instagram series in Lubbock. Began with a phrase I just bought this elementary school, and that's kind of crazy.

The phrase uh became the intro to a six part series where Mohammed Ottaba A third year Texas Tech medical student shows the transformation of a former Lumbock Elementary School into a community center and mosque that's now open to they say everyone. In just over a month, the student led effort to build the Unity Center at seven oh one East Queen Street. was completed this past weekend. Uh let's see. Here's what to know about the space inspiration and what it means to the people involved.

Altaball bought the uh former elementary school, which closed back in twenty eleven in January with the goal of having it renovated by February seventeenth, the start of Ramadan. Gave'em forty five days to transform the abandoned building. Quote the school, the gym, they were abandoned, not in the best condition when we bought it, he said. We bought it because we saw the vision with it. We saw how much stuff we could do. With the future. In the series of Instagram reels.

Which received more than ninety one thousand likes on one part of Instagram. He shows the journey featuring volunteers, local organizations, uh Humor in the series. uh and support went far beyond lobbing. Donations and volunteers began pouring in. The Unity Center put out a call for artwork, received more than thirty pieces from around the world.

Yesterday I opened up a piece of artwork. It was from a girl in London. He said, I love the uh space, the cooler thing, the really nice thing about this place, it's not necessarily the place, it's the people. It's been able to do uh bring in so many people working together. It's become a really cool community project, but also a worldwide project. The local community in Lubbock also helped, including a hotel that uh donated the use of the city.

20 rooms for the University Center's volunteer event over Valentine's weekend. More than 150 volunteers, some flying in from uh uh flying in internationally, traveled to Lubbock to put the final touches on the Unity Center. Amen. They said that uh the project we're trying to put into place, getting people from outside the Muslim community to open up to us, they're making an effort because they see what this project is shaping up to be.

They say the Unity Center is for everyone, no matter their faith or background. The Unity Center open to everybody, no matter their faith or background, according to organizers. That's why they have a a mosque on the campus. Uh it's uh been beautiful watching this turn into a community center that hopefully our kids and grandkids will get to enjoy.

And they uh said the center itself was built by tech students with the goal in mind. The group asked fellow students what they wanted in a community center and created a wish list. And so uh but I I had people ask me, okay, is this something that Uh you know, uh because th th there's there's different uh social media posts that have gone along with this of you know, how could uh how how could this happen? How could well it it's a private cell.

If somebody wants to build an ab or buy an abandoned school, and it wouldn't surprise me if you see uh this in other places, but buy a school building and turn it into a mosque or turn it into Uh whatever they want to turn it into, as long as it's within zoning, that's fine. They're they're they're able to do that. And so uh you know the the this I had one person ask if uh why the state didn't get involved. Why the well the state's not gonna get involved in something like this.

In fact, the state probably had no idea uh about something like this. But this is if you're concerned about You know, your your your kids going to an Islamic uh center or going to a mosque or anything. This gets back to again a lot of things starting at home. And you know, getting back to going to church, getting back to uh to to to you know, uh worshiping and praying together as a family and everything else.

Uh you know, you you see politicians now talking about stopping Sharia law in the United States and stopping the spread of Sharia law. You've Same. Uh probably some social media posts about the number of mosques going up uh in Texas. We got a lot of people who are moving here. And a lot of people of different faiths who are moving here and a lot of mosques have popped up.

This is I think the second or third mosque in Lubbock that's uh that's come up. I think the second maybe that has uh that's been built. Think they said the la the uh Muslim communities around one thousand uh people in Lubbuck? So uh that's just I I had a lot of people who who have been asking questions about so I just wanted to put that

Uh put that out there that that's what the the Unity Center uh the Unity Center is. It was purchased by this uh This guy who uh I think he's been here at least since high school and graduated from uh from friendship, I believe, graduated from Texas Tech and uh Yeah, built uh you know, bought this uh former building. I'm I'm pretty sure it wasn't too expensive. Uh how much everybody uh he got it for. Eight zero six six eight zero two seven nine zero. When we come back. Next and

Colbert's Lie and Equal Time Rules

You had uh what's his name? Stephen Colbert. Uh has uh he's blasted CBS for Nixing a uh interview with James Talarico. Late night host, Stephen Colbert accused his network, CBS, for refusing to broadcast his interview with Texas State Rap uh James Talarico, a Democrat candidate for US Senate. Talk show March 17th. They said it was uh Colbert says it was supposed to be air Monday.

On the late show. For fear of running a foul, the Trump administration Colbert said CBS canceled Talarico's appearance on air in light of guidance issued January twenty first by the FCC. Which directed daytime and late night TV talk show host to offer equal airtime to all political candidates running for a given office.

Talk shows have long been exempted from these equal time rules when conducting uh bona fide news interviews, allowing them to book political candidates without bringing on their opponents. So this is what James Tallerico and Steven Colbert cooked up. I guess it was a boring interview. Uh they've released it on uh on YouTube. I guess I'll have to go and watch it. Uh but it must have been a a flub of an interview because they had to drum up something in order to get people to watch.

Well here's what's come out later in the day. CBS says no. We never pr uh prohibited the uh broadcast of the interview with James Talarico. The show has provided legal guidance that Uh the broadcast could trigger the F C C equal time rule for Two other candidates, including Jasmine Crockett.

And was presented with options of how the equal time for other candidates could be fulfilled. The late show decided to present the interview through its YouTube channel with on-air promotion on the broadcast rather than potentially providing equal time options. In other words They like. Stephen Colbert did not want to give equal time to Jasmine Crockett. Yeah. That's the thing. That's the real news. They lied about this, tried to say that CBS.

was saying no to a political interview when CBS said no. You just have to give equal time to the other candidates, which would be I don't know of any of the Republican candidates who would go on with Stephen Colbert. So the only other person who would go on would would would be Jasmine Crockett. And apparently Stephen Colbert did not want to allow her on TV. So uh Colbert he's he's been caught up in this lie.

Uh again, just lying to the American public, trying to make it seem as though mean old Trump Trump doesn't give a damn about James Tallerico. Talarico's been all over the view, he's been on all these other uh places. I don't think he's gonna get all hot and bothered by James Talarico on the view. If anything, James Talarico the more he gets out there, his numbers drop.

I mean that's a real race between those two. You got Jasmine Crockett who's out there complaining anytime that uh a a negative ad goes against her, she says it's racist. Seriously, that's what she was claiming today that uh you know, that that these uh pack ads going against her, they're trying to tear down a black woman and that uh they're all racist because they're going after her. Uh I think James Salarico is is learning what uh many have said for a while that the the Democrat Party is

If you're a white dude in the Democrat Party these days, boy, you're you're gonna be called a lot of things. You're not really welcome within the Democrat Party, uh, anymore. But hey, keep trying. Democrats' Campaign to Turn Texas Blue

Zero. And uh sound off on any of the uh the issues that you would like to talk about. Texas Democrats launching a thirty million dollar Coordinated campaign to target key races and flip the state in twenty twenty six. Yeah, I've heard that before. Coalition of the biggest Democrat groups in Texas uh earlier today unveiled new efforts to pool their resources.

To help candidates with overhead costs that can devour campaign coffers, build a data hub to analyze stat I can instruct those camps and censorize volunteers who c can be surged to focus on any given race across the uh state as contests get down to the wire. Behind the idea of the Texas Democrat Party, Texas Majority Pack, perhaps the best funded Democrat group in the state, powered by people, the group founded by Beto O'Rourke and the Texas House Democrat Campaign Committee.

Those in charge of the coordinated campaign are betting big, thirty million to begin with. That investment can boost a candidate or candidates in November's midterm elections and beyond. State party in collaboration with Texas Majority Pack already recruited candidates for every federal and state race on the ballot for the first time in modern Texas history.

Texas Democrat Party chairs of the new effort called Texas Together will revolutionize how parties coordinate in Rhine campaigns well past November. We're running an organization that is uh comparable to that of swing states around the country. When people are asking constantly what's different so what's different this year, well every year Democrats say they're going to win statewide. What's different this year? Well, this is what's different.

The last time uh Trump was in the White House for a midterm election, Democrats toppled GOP incumbents off county commissioners' courts. judicial benches and city halls throughout Texas. A Rourke almost unseated Ted Cruz in the twenty eighteen election. Already Democrats have found encouragement in recent elections that have uh some of the voting blocks like Latinos and independents who are crucial in returning Trump to uh Washington might have Byers remorse.

Affordability and Declining Homeownership

After Trump promised to lower costs and launch a deportation effort targeting hardened criminals, the economy remains tight and the president's immigration crackdown has generated backlash over deadly encounters involving federal agents. Well Uh a lot of the backlash has been Minnesota. In Texas we've done it right.

And law enforcement partners with ICE and you don't see these massive protests breaking out unless unless you're a you know a student in high school. You don't see these massive protests breaking out anywhere. I will say the Democrats do have a couple other things that they could run on. I think the affordability issue is going to get smaller day by day. Now, March is March third primary is gonna be, you know, uh coming up and then you got the general election after that.

I think by the time we get to November I think we're gonna we're going to see some changes in the affordability argument. That's if things continue to roll smoothly. Are there still young people worried about being able to afford uh their their first home? Yes. In fact I saw a number earlier today. Uh the number of people percentage of people married

And uh had a uh home uh or you know, married and a and and owned a home by thirty years old in the United States. Like in nineteen sixty it was fifty two percent. And it dropped down to thirty five percent in the year two thousand. It's now at twelve percent. It's a lot of people. That's a big drop. Big drop in the percentage of people who are married and owning their first home. Now some of that is people are waiting longer to get married. So there's some of that out there.

Uh but there's also, yeah, it's very expensive to uh for a lot of people it it's very expensive to buy your first home. And to keep that up it's it's very expensive. In some cities they've done Uh I guess research into is it better to own versus to rent? What's uh what what does it come out to? And it it kind of depends on where you are around the country.

Democratic Party's Unpopularity and Wokeness

So I do think you have that as a general worry. You also have history on the side of Democrats, the side you know, the the the party that's in power, the party that uh is in the White House, normally takes losses uh during the uh dur during the uh midterm elections. So yeah, Democrats do have a couple things that I think they could run on. Here's the problem with the Democrats. They're so weird.

that they just can't help themselves. You've got people like Jasmine Crockett, who claims everything is racist. You've got James Salarico who uh will twist and turn scripture into what he wants it to be versus what it actually says. And by the way, when it comes to actual policy and government policy, he's no different than uh Jasmine Crockett. The Democrat brand

is very unpopular in the United States. And that's what Republicans are going to have to remind voters of. It might it it's gonna have to sound something to the effect, hey, You may not be completely happy with us right now, but we're trying to get things lined up. We're trying to fix things. It's taken maybe a little bit longer than what we had hoped. Well remember what the other guys did. Remember how crazy they are. Remember how woke they are and

Remember that they want to allow they they haven't abandoned their positions when it comes to uh you know boys being in girls' sports or boys being in girls uh locker rooms. They haven't abandoned those positions. They just don't want to talk about'em right now. They're smart enough to go, ooh, now's not a good time to talk about that.

But they haven't abandoned those positions. They haven't abandoned the idea uh of uh of DEI or woke being a good thing for the United States. No. And that's why it's gonna be incumbent on Republicans. To remind people, hey, this is where the party that this is where the party still is. The Democrats still believe in all of this. They still believe in the craziness that you reject it. And you know, if you rejected it a couple of years ago, you're still probably gonna reject it now.

So again the this idea that, you know, the Democrats are going to turn Texas blue, nah. They're gonna spend a lot of money. They're gonna try. They're gonna try to do it. They're gonna try to spend all that good. It takes that money out of other states. That's fantastic. Because again I have seen nothing as of yet. That shows me the Democrats are going to flip Texas or flip a US Senate seat here or do anything down ballot. I have not seen any evidence of that yet.

Doxing Controversy Escalates: Hunt Files Charges

Uh the accusations of doxing. I continues as uh Wesley Hunt tweeted out a couple of hours ago that he filed criminal charges at the Harris County Constable's office. Blah blah blah blah blah Senator Corning about uh twenty minutes ago after he appeared uh on this show of course and said that uh Uh he would not be apologizing. Uh Cornyn uh sent out a tweet going, How dumb it was public information and you lied, pathetic attempt at deflection. Okay.

To which Wesley Hunt responded, and he said, Good evening, Senator. Nice to see you're awake at this hour. Oh, man. cuts a little bit. Quote and uh number one, I didn't lie, the election judge made the error. Try to keep up. Guess someone's upset I have receipts that I voted for President Trump in twenty sixteen.

Number two, if there's nothing wrong with posting the address of my family and other personal information of a US congressman, then why did your campaign delete the tweet and repost it with redactions made? Number three, why is law enforcement currently conducting an investigation into your campaign if you did nothing wrong? Uh and then finally I assume you'd have no problem releasing your home address and other personal information to the public. So that uh

The back and forth continues on uh on that one. Eight zero six six eight zero two seven nine zero You can uh weigh in and sound off on uh anything that we've uh talked about today. Um
