¶ Summer Drinking Anxieties
to want to hear it . Let's talk about something that is coming up a lot in my conversations lately , and that is summer .
My 12-year-old said it's not summer yet because I guess summer starts on the 21st and actually today was a little chilly here , so it doesn't truly feel like summer for me , but I'm sure where you are it may feel like summer and if not , it will soon .
So we're looking forward to pool days and beach trips , maybe weddings , cookouts , all those amazing fun summer type things . And while summer should feel carefree and fun , I know that it can also stir up some real anxiety , especially when it comes to drinking . Especially when it comes to drinking .
So maybe you've already started playing that mental game of like how am I going to handle vacation without overdoing it ? What are people going to say if I skip the wine ? Can I even have fun without a drink in my hand ? And if you've been having any of those thoughts , let me just put your mind to rest , because you are not alone in those thoughts .
I was actually just talking to a client about this exact thing , and last summer she went into vacation with a plan to treat herself with a few drinks . It seemed like a totally reasonable plan . Drinks it seemed like a totally reasonable plan , but by day three she realized she was drinking a lot more than she had planned for .
Because of that she was feeling really drained and anxious and guilty and she just felt really bad because she had broken this promise to herself and so she broke trust with herself .
And she also said that she felt like she missed being present with her family , not the whole time , but just in certain situations , either because she was drinking a little too much or she just didn't feel that great the next day , and so she didn't always go out on different like excursions and things that the family went on , she told me .
I thought that I was supposed to be relaxing , that's why I was drinking , but instead I felt completely out of control . Now , maybe you've been there too . Maybe you've been replaying those decisions , wondering why you just can't stop when you
¶ Building Awareness Without Panic
get going , or why is this still so hard ? And listen , I get it . Like I really really get it , because even though I've lived through many , many summers alcohol-free , I'll be honest , those that-seems-fun thoughts , yeah , they still pop up sometimes . I still notice the moment where a cold glass of rosé or a boozy beach cocktail sounds kind of great .
But the beautiful part is , it's just a thought and it passes . And the more I've practiced it , the more I've learned that you could absolutely have those thoughts and still stay true to your goals . You don't have to act on every urge .
You don't have to be afraid of every craving when you realize , oh , I can notice that thought and I can do that without spiraling . Now it's not about perfection .
It's about building the kind of awareness and resilience that helps you move through moments with peace instead of panic , and that's why I'm so excited to finally share the 62-Day Soberish Summer Challenge for
¶ Introducing the 62-Day Soberish Challenge
Catholic Women . This is a totally grace-filled , judgment-free roadmap to help you drink less this summer without missing out on life , fun or connection . And no , it's not about being the fun police or quitting forever , unless that's what you want .
What this is is about experimenting , paying attention , getting curious instead of critical , and letting God into this conversation in a whole new way . I have to tell you , I hear time and time again from my clients .
Sometimes they'll come to me saying like I just feel like I'm not doing that great , I'm still , you know , having those times when I set a plan and I don't always keep it , and you know , different things happen .
But then , once we start coaching about it and talking about it and really looking at their wins , they come to the point where they realize that they are drinking so much less now than they did when we started working together , which is really the goal . They also have so much more awareness about their choices of choosing to drink or not drink .
Again , that is what this is about . Whether you decide to take alcohol or leave it , and you do so with peace , that's . That's fine too . That is evidence , and we are going to look at the evidence and look through what happened that day . So I have questions and things like that that are going to help you . But what is in this 62-day summer Challenge ?
We'll walk through three simple , powerful phases together
¶ Joining the Summer Challenge
. First , we'll get clear on what's really going on your habits , patterns and what alcohol might be doing for you and to you . Then we'll introduce the second phase , which is life-giving tools and routines to help you feel better physically , emotionally and spiritually .
And then , finally , you'll practice what you've learned , while staying connected to your faith , your purpose and your peace . You'll also get daily and weekly tools like journal prompts , catholic prayers and short audio encouragements , mocktail recipes and just a fun , private , faith-based community .
I'm going to put together a pop-up Slack group where you can share your wins and your struggles with other women who get it .
So if you feel like you don't have a community of people that you can talk to about this , if you really just don't have anyone to talk to about it because you are afraid of feeling judged , then this private community is exactly what you need . You will have women who are going through the same struggles and walking the same path as you are .
There's no pressure to be perfect . It's just a safe , supportive space to grow closer to God and closer to yourself . Now let me just say this it's not about being good or bad , perfect or not . It's about being whole , and that's what this plan helps you move toward .
You will finish the 62 days feeling more confident , clear and present , with a whole new perspective on what it means to truly enjoy your life . So , friend , don't wait until the 4th of July . Weekend has you in a spiral of oh my gosh , why did I do that again ?
